Fantasy Responsibility - a Dark Fantasy RP

Bunesh

Filled with DETERMINATION
Ithgal, the city of towers; a monument to the genius of its architecture, as the entire city is made of towers of various sizes and elevations, some suspended in the air by a stone bridge, others built off of the made trunk of another tower, yet still, another simply anchored to the ground. All in all, the city was a magnificent sight to behold, with its complex, intertwining web of bridges, stairs, archways, and suspended roadways creating a sort of abstract art that was truly breathtaking.

Yet, as they say, beauty is only skin deep.

The much-beloved monarch of Ithgal, Queen Grace du Frampt allowed the common folk to come and go through her own castle - again, composed of tightly-clustered towers - keeping them fed, watered, and housed. Yes, they wanted for naught and all they had to do in return is facilitate her eccentricities, which they were more than happy to do, provided that their Queen's eye never turned to their own sons and daughters.

For Queen Grace believed that immortality was within reach, and consorted to the use of blood magic, bathing in the blood of the innocent and tormenting them for her own delights. Her soldiers and people would carefully select passerbyers, refugees, and merchants to hand over to their Queen to be used in her rituals, and she loved them all the more for it. But this unhealthy relationship could not go on forever, nor could the constant disappearances go unnoticed in perpetuity. Eventually, they made the ill choice of selecting a gorgeous young man who had hid with a cloak and hood, not knowing that this was Prince Meravyk Kelwin, the rebellious son, and heir to the mighty King Valian Kelwin, a man not known for his mercy to his enemies.

When his spies reported back to Valian the fate of his son, the king went mad with grief, declaring that death was too good for the foul denizens of Ithgal, that even being burned, hung, drawn, and quartered, or any other punishment thought up by man was not enough to balance the scales of this injustice. So he mustered his army, and they marched on the city-state of Ithgal.

Yet he did not put it to the sword, nor did he lay siegeworks against it but rather he positioned powerful magi at each of the corners of the city with himself at the head and a powerful ritual was enacted. Too late to stop it, the Queen and her people could only watch helplessly as a great magical wall rose up around the city, encasing each of the magi and the king himself in a new tower before they and the city of Ithgard were swallowed up by the ground.

For all others, the matter was settled and the remaining lords squabbled over the remains of Valian's kingdom, but there was more to this than originally appeared. For the city swallowed by the earth was not infested with corpses, rather it was very much alive. As part of the ritual, death itself would be denied the people of Ithgard, no matter how they hungered or thirsted, the peace of death would be forever beyond their grasp.

That was five hundred years ago.

In these last seven months, a great plague of ill fortunes and unnatural events has besieged the land. The dead rise and set themselves upon the living, animals go mad and attack any who pass their eye, becoming foul and twisted monstrosities in the process. You are the youngest of the royal family of Gilgar, a person who has struggled to gain your father and mother's attention as more than just a 'spare', but have continuously been passed over for your elder brother.

One day, a young woman clad in gray and tattered clothes and patchwork leather and metal armor approached your family's castle. She had white hair and haunting blue eyes, with pale skin and carried an iron sickle at her hip, and claimed to know the source of the evil. She claimed that the source of corruption was a tower that had suddenly burst forth from the ground in a tract of land long thought to be cursed as no plant nor animal can thrive there. However, she cannot enter this tower without one of divine blood - your family and so pleads for aid. Your family, not daring to risk the life of their precious and sheltered heir, send you to accompany this madwoman. Clearly, you are naught but a hail mary, a hopeless and desperate swing at a solution your family does not truly believe exists.

However, so much more awaits you....

Hi yes, I hope you enjoyed that little taste of my writing and the setup of the RP story. Your character can be male, female, trans, or other, and straight, gay, bisexual or any other colour of the LGBTQ rainbow. There will be some romance along the way if you are interested, but ultimately the story will be one of your character finding themselves and facing a lot of terrible things alongside a girl with a miserable past and awful burden upon her shoulders. PM me if you are interested and, yes, the story is WIDE open to alterations or modifications.
