In 2027 evidence of a massive object entering the Solar System was detected passing through the Oort Cloud. It was travelling at about 2 million miles per hour relative to the Sun and on what many thought was a collision course with Earth. And it was massive, affecting the asteroids in the Oort Cloud, yet invisible. The date of impact was set in early 2038.
The closer the object got the more astronomers learned. It was incredibly small and extremely dense. Some theorized it was a remnant fragment of a neutron star smaller than a pea. (A teaspoon of neutron star matter would weigh as much as the Earth.) It carried in its wake an asteroid / meteor swarm, some as large as planet killers. These were tentatively identified as remnants of carbon and iron planets, and even earth like planets.
10.6 years we have to prepare. Of course, the government has kept the threat a secret to prevent panic.
Even if by some miracle the object and the planet killer sized asteroids missed the Earth nowhere was truly safe. Earth would still have meteor strikes raining down. At least 99% of the impact craters would be far smaller than the one at Meteor Crater, AZ. Worse would be the effects of gravitational forces. Massive tsunamis of the Hollywood variety would wipe out the coastal regions. The Chain of Fire would go crazy with earthquakes and volcanoes.

In this FxM scenario, I need someone to run the male protagonist who is part of the plan to ensure the survival of the human race, and if possible something of our civilization. You could be military, scientist, whatever. This is intended to be a romance, so young and healthy would be good. You can have NPC’s to fill in as needed.
My character will have made a post on a few websites regarding various astrophysical theories about such phenomena as neutron stars and gravity, suggesting her comprehension is well above average. But all anyone knows about her is her avatar - P$B3Lmtida. It was believed to be a play on words for the name Sybil, the prophetess. The sibylline books were kept at the temple of Apollo on Mt Ida.
Even with the unlimited resources of the US government, the IP address was untraceable. And so began an attempt to challenge her by dragging her into a scientific debate, then an invitation to a conference at some time to debate at length.
Edit: For those of you who love to fact check and number crunch, I did realize shortly after my initial post that the velocity was far too great. A: the pea-sized neutron star fragment would never remain stable. B: the asteroids being dragged along would be obliterated by space dust and debris, as well as the solar winds. C: any modest sized meteor impacting at the velocities listed would cause catastrophic damage to Earth to matter where it hit. The Moon would be equally at peril. And if it was destroyed it would spell the end of life on Earth.
So .... Hollywood Physics have been employed.
