When Zeke approached her, Sarah was quite surprised, she hadn't really expected to run into him here. As he awkwardly moved his hands to communicate hello to her, she gave him a gentle smile. People wouldn't really ever try to learn ASL to talk to her. It was actually quite rare and the only people who have done so are the ones from the circus. Sure there were the ones who already knew how to do it, but, for one to take the time to learn it? Well, it was just a different story. So she slowly moved her hands. Making sure that he could track their movements and be able to understand her.

"Hey. Yeah, I got an invite, which was pretty weird. I don't even really know anyone here and feel out of place."

Sarah was kind of happy that she at least knew someone there. She never really took the time to start up a conversation with any of the local teens there as she had been too busy with work, and helping the circus get settled down. She talked with Zeke a bit before excusing herself to go and greet the person who actually invited her to the party. After giving him an awkward wave and a nod of her head, she moved deeper into the house. She wandered a little but it didn't take long for the rest of the place to fill up with people. The more teens that showed up, the more anxious she felt, she had lost Zeke after their initial greetings so she decided to do the only thing she could do. She hugged up against a wall with a non-alcoholic drink in her hand. Sarah never did like alcohol and it wasn't just for the taste.

There used to be an acrobat within her circus when she was younger, who had a penchant for strong drinks, and he got extremely hurt during one of the performances. Alcohol is a dangerous substance when in their line of work so, after that incident, it was expressly forbidden to drink it before going onto the ring. Sarah wholeheartedly agreed as well.

Well, this is going just as well as I thought it would... She huffed a little and took a small sip of the drink within her hands.

A few more minutes passed and Sarah was getting slightly tired. She covered her mouth in a silent yawn. It was her first full day off in a while and she was still slightly recovering from her performances. Shrugging her shoulders and rolling her neck, she hoped to wake a little. It wouldn't be too long before she took her leave, after all, she had more work to do tomorrow. Sarah could feel a headache coming on. It was a sharp pain, one so bad, it made her flinch a little and place a hand to her hand. When she opened her eyes her jaw dropped slightly in shock. Standing within the throng of people was her mother. Someone who she hadn't seen since her childhood. There was no way she could be here! The next second she was gone.

Sarah rubbed her eyes slightly not really believing what she had just seen. She had been so distracted that she hadn't noticed the person stand next her, but, she did notice the rather unique boy walking up to him. When he smiled he showed off incisors that were way too long for any human. When he spoke about turning it caused Sarah to raise an eyebrow in curiosity. Seems like this town was more interesting than she had initially thought!

Acantha Mujo

Aspiring Geneticist - Telekinetic - Sociopath

Location: [Jordan's house]
With: [Sarah]
Mood: [Purposeful]

Acantha was home alone, sitting in her room- a common occurrence whenever she wasn't at school. Her parents and little brother were out- she seldom went anywhere with them anymore, except on occasions when they felt she could be introduced to a family who would want to take her in. Niju was curled up in a ball of the floor. He was resting, but not really asleep. Normally, she would be glued to her computer screen, looking up the latest genetics research and obsessively compiling data for her own. Over the past week, however, she'd been spending her time a little differently.

She had discovered her ability by chance, when she had been in urgent need of a pen and one had flown across the desk and into her hand. Since then, she had experimented with her gift whenever she was alone. She'd gotten better at controlling and directing it, and tested its limits. At the moment, she could move no more than two small and light objects a short distance. The focus it required was extreme, and the whole thing was quite taxing. Her control had gotten better though- she was now able to control an object while letting her thoughts wander at the same time, and she could maintain the control for longer without becoming exhausted.

Further experiments would be required, but for that what she really needed was a controlled environment. She also needed equipment- sensors, to study her brainwaves, and a full genetics analysis kit so she could study her DNA, for there was no doubt in her mind that this ability was the manifestation of a genetic mutation, undoubtedly activated (and expressed in a delayed manner) by the onset of puberty. Acantha really wished she had a lab in which to study this further, but her parents refused to let her have one, as they felt it would negatively impact her marriage chances.

As was nearly always the case, and even more so since her discovery, her mind was focused on the topics of genes and various mutations. She marveled at what changing a tiny little protein pair could do to an organism, and catalogued some of the more extraordinary traits that could appear as a result: heterochromia, unbreakable bones, adaptation to extreme environments... Genetics determined virtually everything about a person- from how they interacted with other people, to how smart they were, to how attractive their children would be. They could also result in extraordinary physical capabilities, such as flexibility, grace and agility in dancers, contortionists, circus performers...

Acantha sat bolt upright, letting the object she'd been playing with fall to the floor. She had completely forgotten! With the discovery of her power, the whole thing had been pushed to the back of her mind, but she had been to the circus a few weeks ago and seen an extraordinary performer who had seemed determined to defy gravity, performing dazzling and terrifying feats of aerial prowess- without a net, no less. Acantha had been mesmerized by the performance and, as was her usual reaction, wondered at the genes this person must possess to give her such strength and poise. She left the circus with a burning to desire to see this person's DNA under a microscope.

At the start of the week, she'd been astounded to see that same performer at the high school, and had intended to approach her at the first given opportunity. However, that was also the day she'd discovered her abilities, and the whole thing had been driven from her mind. Now that she thought about it again, that burning desire to know returned full-force. Should she go back to the circus? It seemed the best place to find her on a Saturday night. Then she remembered the party. Jordan Parks was throwing one to 'celebrate the memories of the dead', and had invited the entire school. Did that mean she would be there instead? Acantha didn't know, but Jordan's house was closer to her than the circus was, so she decided to try there first.

When she arrived at the party, it was the typical expected scene of teenage nonsense. Acantha ignored the revelry but kept her eyes peeled as she walked around, hoping to spot the girl. Luck favored her in a small room off from the main dancefloor- she was leaning against the wall with a drink in her hand. Without preamble, Acantha walked straight up to her and said

"I require samples of your DNA for my studies. Hair and saliva would do."

Aileen never saw the point in going to party’s. There were a lot of people, drinks she didn’t like, and probably drug use at at least 90% of them. But of course, when her mother heard about the party some of her schoolmates were throwing, that’s not what first came to mind. What came to mind was the fact that her first daughter had died, but if she hadn’t then she would be going to this party. Her second thought was that her second daughter had been moping around the house ever since they got the news.

Alieen knew her mother was doing the best she could. She was trying to stay upbeat and cheerful, but that didn’t hide the bags under her eyes or the late night sob sessions. Aileen had to admit her eyes matched her mothers, though her crying was quieter. Probably the only reason she was even going to this party instead of staying in bed was because her mom had said she should, to at least get out of the house.

And that’s how Alieen found herself here; Walking down the road to a house she hadn’t really been to before, in a situation she would never have put herself in..... if her sister was still here. But she wasn’t. So, Aileen took some clothes from her dead sisters closet in an attempt to boost her confidence. It didn’t do much.

She hoped Nathaniel was there, at least. He loved the supernatural, with his obsession with Vampires. So, maybe he could tell her what was going on with her plants.... and why everything was dying. She shook it off as she saw the party, hearing the music through the house. She took a deep breath, and looked around. She then headed to the door, and raised a hand to knock. She hesitated, but then rapped her hand against the door.

When no one answered, she very slowly opened the door. Multiple kids were already there, having fun and drinking. Aileen winced as the smell of alcohol pierced her nose, the smell very foreign to her. She wasn’t sure if she liked it or not. Aileen started wandering, looking around for people she knew like Nathaniel or Bai.

Maybe even Bai could help her.... she did have a farm with her family. It would be worth a try. But that wasn’t her main problem at the moment. Her main problem was getting around these people while not getting trampled, or pushed. She felt really out of place, like she should’ve been hiding in a corner somewhere instead of in the middle of the room. She started wandering to the edges of the room, and kept closer to the walls rather than the center of the room. Life of an introvert, she guessed.

Zeke Aberci
Zeke smiled as Sarah had greeted him. It seemed his intuition on Jordan inviting anyone with a pulse as usual was dead on. He was glad to see her out here though instead of just at the circus. If he'd learned anything from working there the last month it was definitely that the people needed time for themselves. After their short greeting, she walked off to share pleasantries with their host. He watched her enter into the house just as more people started to gather. It was going to be one crowded ass party.

A few hours later and Zeke was no longer the easy going guy he'd been when it started. Zeke was so thankful to Aurora bringing plain old soda, one two-liter of which he'd secretly confiscated for himself and had been walking around with all night. Now here he was outside trying to catch his breath and chill himself out. He'd already decked a couple of guys that had regularly picked fights with him. When inebriated, even the smallest thing made those idiots aggressive. Fortunately enough, the phenomenon hadn't triggered even once since Jordan threw the bottle to Uriel. It seems to only trigger to perceived danger. Zeke took a mental note of that as he walked over to his motorcycle. A few party-goers were gathered around admiring it. Not a lot of people rode one as everyone's parents preferred cars for safety reasons. It made Zeke feel a little proud of his own accomplishments and after a few minutes of talking to them about it, the people disappeared inside the house to refresh their buzz. Following them with his eyes, Zeke soon caught sight of something that was and wasn't surprising.

Sitting on a bench just outside the house was a girl that Zeke was familiar with in passing. She had money, and a lot of it, but never let that go to her head. Next to her was a boy who'd clearly had too much to drink. He seemed to be pressing her for something and the poor girl was too kind to tell the guy off. Just like a doll. Zeke sighed as he grabbed his soda and started walking over. "Come on, I just want to share a dance with you Eira. I mean that's what we're here for right? To party and forget all the loss?" The sleazeball's words were just like the pick-up artists when they'd had too much at the bar. Setting his bottle of soda down, Zeke cracked his knuckles and tapped the man on his shoulder.

"Hey buddy." Zeke's smile seemed calm, but behind was A LOT of fury. Zeke really wasn't in the mood for this shit and had been ignoring a lot of stuff all night, but this was the final straw, being too pushy with a woman that was obviously stressed really ignited a fire within Zeke's hatred. "You feel like backing off from my girl?" Zeke knew how to handle drunk idiots. The minute a girl was taken by someone that could kick their ass, guys backed off real quick. The minute the boy realized whom he was dealing with he looked panicked, stared between the two of them in disbelief and started to back away rather quickly. He was likely as shocked about that as anyone who would hear that would be.

"Shit, you two are together? Sorry man. I didn't think that she was seeing anyone." The boy quickly raised his hands and went back inside the house, tail between his legs. Zeke took a seat down beside Eira and pulled the soda bottle into his lap. He then smiled awkwardly to the girl.

"Sorry if this comes back to bite you in the ass." He said while taking a swig form the soda bottle. "But if you don't put your foot down, guys like them won't go away." He said leaning back against the house itself. The pounding of music inside just made Zeke hate this even more. Checking his phone, Zeke could tell that it still wasn't late enough for him to go home. Valencia would likely make sure he was out until well past midnight before being satisfied. "So, what's the princess up to at a party for the forlorn and downtrodden?" He asked while setting the two liter between them.

Location: [Jordan's front lawn]
With: [Zeke]
Mood: [Offended]

Eira had been wandering the party for quite a while. At first, she'd wandered with the intention of finding the host, but he had seemed busy (not to mention intoxicated) when she did, so instead she explored on her own. Most of those invited were juniors and seniors, so she hardly knew any of them, even though she had seen them in school. Jordan's house was very large, and Eira was having fun exploring it. There were people most everywhere. She even wandered upstairs at one point but, when she passed a bedroom door and heard the sound of creaking bedsprings and... other things, she quickly turned around and went back down, blushing hard.

She had gone out to the dancefloor at one point as well, but this style of music was pretty unfamiliar to her and the way most people were dancing was not her cup of tea. A boy she'd never met before had even started pressing himself against her without invitation, making her feel extremely uncomfortable, and she had quickly excused herself and left the room. She was definitely not used to handling drunk people, and she took refuge in the kitchen for a while, grabbing another glass from the cabinet and pouring water into it. Drinking it slowly to calm herself down, she thought back to the boy from before.

He's probably still sitting in that chair, getting drunk. It frustrated her that he had said how out of place she was- even that he'd been right about her drinking water. But then she shook her head, thinking that she had no reason to feel bad or apologize for who she was. She had to admit she felt some curiosity about him though- not just about what made him so hostile, but also about why he seemed so familiar to her. And then there was that strange occurrence she hadn't been able to explain... It really had been as if he had somehow taken the cold away, and now she was practically shivering nonstop.

Deciding that she needed some fresh air, she left the kitchen and headed out of the house and to the front lawn. Groups of people were standing around, talking and drinking, but she found herself a spot near the wall, away from everyone. Despite the incessant cold, she enjoyed being outside, looking up at the sky, the sounds of the party surrounding her. She closed her eyes peacefully, but was brought out of her reverie by the sound of a familiar voice nearby. It was that guy- Lucas. He'd been hinting at things almost since the start of the year and generally making her uncomfortable, and now he was standing above her, his attitude feeling rather menacing and with the smell of alcohol on his breath.

Eira tried to back away and politely decline as he invited her to dance, telling him she'd already done so and was taking a break and didn't feel like it right now, but he wasn't backing off. Just when she was starting to wonder what she should do, somebody tapped him on the shoulder.

"Hey buddy," the unfamiliar voice said, "You feel like backing off from my girl?"

Eira blinked in confusion, feeling there had been some sort of mistake. When Lucas backed up, she could see who had arrived. She didn't know his name but, with his distinctive height, long dark hair and bad boy clothes (not to mention his riding in on a motorcycle every day), he was immediately recognizable. She knew the guy had a reputation for skipping class and getting into fights, but she had once seen him telling off people for making fun of that strange goth kid who came to school with vampire fangs, so he had an underlying core of decency. Lucas looked immediately panicked and quickly backed away, apologizing.

She watched him head back inside the house with a frown, aware that he had not apologized to her but to her supposed partner, as if she were a piece of property. The boy sat down next to her and took a swig from a large soda bottle. Eira frowned at that- people usually drank from cups at these parties, and she wondered if he had brought his own bottle because the soft drink was mixed with alcohol. He smiled awkwardly at her and apologized, which she appreciated, but then went on to tell her how one should deal with guys like Lucas, which felt patronizing. He leaned back and checked his phone before setting down the soda bottle between them.

"So, what's the princess up to at a party for the forlorn and downtrodden?" She bristled at the word 'princess'. Clearly he, like the guy from before, thought her nothing more than a spoiled rich girl who didn't belong here. She sighed and looked him straight in the eye.

"Thank you for intervening- I appreciate the gallant gesture. However, I would have preferred it if you hadn't done so by lying about us being together. This is a small school, and rumors spread quickly. To answer your question- I was invited. And I would appreciate you not calling me a princess, either. I'm just a student like everyone else."

She sighed again and looked ahead, knowing she would always have to deal with this sort of thing to a certain extent- something she had been prepared for when she told her parents she wanted to go back to public school. They had been a little worried, but also had confidence in her and knew she could handle herself and what came her way. What she wasn't sure she could keep handling, however, was this cold. She shivered again and wrapped her arms around herself, frustrated that it wasn't going away.

OOC: Damsel in distress alert! ;P

Zeke Aberci
Eira seemed a bit annoyed about how he helped her, but Zeke couldn't blame her. He did just inadvertently start a potential rumor. "If anyone says anything you could just say it was a lie or that we broke up. Nobody would believe drunk Lucas over your word." This was a true statement. Eira was well liked and honestly adored by quite a few people. Zeke wasn't having it though. She still seemed a bit sheltered to him, but that's the difference that money could have. She seemed extremely sensitive to being called a princess, to which Zeke had a different kind of reaction. "Sorry about that." He let out a sigh before grabbing the bottle of soda. "I'm the last person who should be labeling someone. After all, labels have gotten me into the position that I am now." He sighed while taking another swig of soda and let out a satisfied sigh. "Nothing beats a good ol' fashioned cola. I'm glad I snatched this before the partiers got their hands on it. Why would someone corrupt perfection with alcohol?" He shook his head while closing the lid on the fizzy drink.

Looking to his side, he watched as Eira shivered. "Cold huh? Here." Zeke slipped off his jacket and placed it over the girl's shoulders. Denim wasn't exactly the BEST insulator but it would still be another layer. Now with just a plain white t-shirt on, Zeke's physique was plainly visible. He may not have worked out in the gym or played sports like Jordan, but doing physical labor for four years really put some muscle onto a person. Of course, it also helped when getting caught in a fist fight. "And I didn't mean to offend you by asking what you're doing here. Guess my disgust towards booze and liquor has me on edge. I just didn't expect you to be here and was curious as to what made you decide to come." He said while running his fingers through his hair. "I didn't take you as the type to join masses, of course that goes for myself as well. Yet here I am at a social gathering despite most people thinking I'm too much of a damn trouble maker to be bothered." Letting out a yawn, Zeke finally realized he was kind of venting his problems to somebody other than Bai and that she probably didn't want to listen. "Sorry about rambling. I've just got a lot on my plate and have no idea why I'm here. I mean, I understand why I'm HERE at the party, but not HERE. I know that probably doesn't make too much sense, but it's how I've felt lately." A heavy sigh fell from his lips as Zeke leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees with his hands clasped between them. His eyes drifting out to the people gathered on the yard smoking.

"I've been having to push myself so hard for a while now that I just don't think it's in me to let loose and have fun anymore." He mumbled as if talking to nobody but himself. "I've done irreparable damage to a friendship I had for years. Turned myself into a "bad boy" and caused countless people trouble. I'm not much of a man if I say so myself." Zeke's self-deprecating words hit home to himself as he finally let out a frustrated groan. "And then all these suicides have to come along and make me worry about my little sister even more than I already do." Zeke finally remembered that he was sitting next to someone and saw how she was still shivering. "Are you okay?" He questioned as he reached out and gently took her hand. It was incredibly cold, like something straight out of the freezer. "We should get you inside where it's warmer." He looked at her and held a firm tone. "For tonight, just PRETEND I'm your boyfriend. It'll keep the drunk bastards away. Okay?" He put on an joking smile while he placed a hand on her back to try and keep her warm.

Eira reflected on the boy's words. While it was true that Lucas wasn't exactly the most trustworthy source of information at the best of times, this sort of thing did spread fast and highschoolers enjoyed spreading rumors and gossip regardless of whether or not they were true. She definitely appreciated his apology for calling her a princess, intrigued by the following remark. It seemed like her suspicion that he wasn't actually a bad guy seemed pretty accurate. She felt for him- having people assume things about you and see you as different from who you truly were had to be tough. Eira didn't like being labeled either, but the difference with her is that the labels were, at least, reflective of who she actually was.

He sighed and took a long drink from his bottle, which Eira interpreted as drowning his sorrows in alcohol, which so many people here were doing. When he stated that the drink was simply soda, however, she was both surprised and skeptical. After all, he could simply be lying about it. She was touched by his gesture when he noticed her shivering, despite the fact that the jacket looked perfectly ridiculous on her and that denim was unlikely to keep anyone warm. Not that it mattered- the cold was coming from within her, apparently, so really anything she put on had little to no effect. Still, it was a nice thing to do.

He seemed somehow much cooler to Eira with his jacket off- maybe a little simpler and more visible. She considered his frame and muscular physique- it made her feel very small in comparison. It also made her blush a little- she wasn't in the habit of spending a lot of time sitting alone at parties with guys like him; strange how things happened. He apologized again for offending her, disclosing more about his dislike of parties and the issues he was dealing with. He sighed heavily, his back bowed as if under a tremendous weight. Eira didn't really know what he was going through, but felt bad for him nonetheless.

As he continued to open up to her, she felt an instinctive desire to reassure him, to ease some of his pain.

"The measure of a man isn't in how others perceive him. Don't be so hard on yourself- how other people see you isn't what defines you, you know? she said.

When he mentioned his little sister, her heart went out to him. She couldn't bear the thought of anything bad ever happening to her little brother either. Without conscious thought, she put a hand on his shoulder reassuringly, before becoming aware and pulling it back a little self-consciously. She shivered again. He looked at her and reached out to take her hand in his, asking if she was okay. She blushed at the casual manner in which he did so, though feeling that it came from a place of protectiveness rather than anything else. Her hand was small and freezing in his, which was much larger and warmer. She could tell it was warmer, but that warmth didn't penetrate through her skin at all.

"We should get you inside where it's warmer," he said as he looked at her. Surprisingly, she didn't feel insulted or patronized at that. Perhaps because she had learned enough about him in the past few minutes to know it came from a good place. She didn't have the heart to tell him that whether she was inside or outside would make no difference.

"For tonight, just PRETEND I'm your boyfriend. It'll keep the drunk bastards away. Okay?" he added. Eira stared at him. He really did think she needed protecting, didn't he? He smiled at her as he placed a hand on her back, the other still holding hers, and she almost wanted to roll her eyes. She understood where his words and casual actions came from (no doubt not unrelated to his having a little sister he felt very protective of), but that didn't mean she was on board with being treated this way. Shaking her head, she gently but firmly returned his hands to him.

"I appreciate where you're coming from, but I don't want to deal with things by telling a lie. That sort of thing might cause problems for you too, you know? Besides, if I want to go to public school and attend parties like this one, I need to be able to handle these things myself, and it won't do any good if I have someone else taking care of my problems for me. That's exactly the sort of thing that makes people see me as a spoiled, sheltered rich girl in the first place."

She smiled at him, hoping he'd understand she wasn't angry, or judging or dismissing him, but she needed him to respect that.

OOC: That jacket does not go with her outfit ;P

He was practically brimming with annoyance, both at himself and others. Himself because of how hard it was to properly walk without staggering due to the amount of alcohol in his system and others because they were obnoxiously blocking his way or his view when he tried to look around for Eira. His irritation faded away, replaced by surprise; Ibuki finally spotted her standing out in the front lawn with another guy. Admittedly, he didn't expect to see her with anyone, much less with a guy's denim coat on her shoulders. Hesitant to approach, he stopped a distance away, too far to hear whatever they were saying to one another. It looked like they were getting along rather well- perhaps they were dating?

The male didn't really want to interrupt an intimate moment, but he didn't want to have to track Eira down again later either. Fueled by his desire to keep things convenient for himself, Ibuki strode up to the duo and blatantly ignored the male's presence, not even looking at him. He was here to do what he came here to do and get out. He tapped Eira's shoulder to get her attention. "Hey, this is yours," he said to her, holding out the satin handkerchief before him and waiting for her to take it with an impatient expression on his face. I doubt she remembers me, or even that she gave this to me. Why did I keep this thing anyways? I'm sure she has a bazillion more at home.

It had been a good few years since their last encounter, but Ibuki had kept the satin handkerchief well-maintained, despite 'grudgingly' keeping it only to return to her. He had always reasoned it was because he hated to owe people things whether it be money or favors, but perhaps it would be more accurate to say he kept it because Eira was the one of the few people in his life that continued to be nice to him, regardless of how horribly he treated her, both in the past and present.

yanin-vism-418174.jpgTo say Bai was nervous about going to the same type of party she saw on television shows was an understatement. There were tons of people. And not only tons of people but tons of drunk people. Being drunk often made people act first and think later. Of course she didn’t have to worry about one of those people being herself.

There was a time when Bai’s father had her take a sip of beer when she was younger. She immediately spat it out and the girl didn’t think she ever saw her dad laugh so hard. Of course, he got a scolding from Mother shortly afterwards but Bai would forever remember that moment.

When she first told her parents about being invited to the party she was met with them disagreeing. Afterall, Jordan wasn’t exactly someone within Bai’s small social circle. But, to everyone’s surprise, it was Bai’s mother that ended up approving first. The girl often forgot that her mother was pretty popular in high school and was the one that gave Bai most of the advice on what not to do at parties. Her mother was also the one that picked out the outfit she was wearing now. Even Bai’s parents knew that her own taste in fashion was all but hopeful. At first her mother wanted her to wear some type of shoes that had heels but after a bit of back-and-forth Bai convinced her that Converses would at least not be a terrible choice.

So with that and Bai driving her small MINI Cooper to the party, here she was. And, now, she was like a deer in headlights. She just stood at the end of the driveway staring between the large house and her phone.

Maybe she should just return home and say she was sick or too busy to come to the party. Bai looked down at the message on her phone again.

Two of her friends were here. Although, judging by the misspellings in Aurora’s text she was probably already drunk or at least was very distracted during the time she was typing. And Zeke was here as well. If he managed to brave through this crowd then that means Bai should be able to as well. Didn’t it?

Bai let out a breath and straightened herself. Sometimes to make steps ahead in life, one needs to step outside of their comfort circle. So Bai took that first step onto the driveway that led to the house and at the same time was stepping out of that circle. Before she knew it, Bai was at the door. Before she could even knock a couple of others stormed out of the door laughing to each other and didn’t even notice that they almost knocked her over. They didn’t bother with closing the door behind themselves either. Something that Bai’s father would have been peeved about.

The thought of him lecturing the two teens about the house not being a barn brought a smile to Bai’s lips. But just as quickly a pinging thought rang in the back of her head. This party was technically meant for mourning. It was to mourn and remember those that had passed away. Bai was very lucky that she hadn’t known anyone close that happened to die in the string of curious deaths. That pinging in her head was guilt. But now was not the time to dwell on negative emotions. Despite what had happened people seemed to be having a good time; living in the moment.

Bai stepped in and was taken aback by the intensity and loudness of the music. Were parties always this loud? Hearing from a distance was one thing but once you were inside the decibels seemed to sore by a large amount. Amidst Bai slowly adjusting to the music she looked around. She recognized a few people but then her eyes landed on Aileen being a fly on the wall. A technique Bai knew all too well through practice, herself. Bai made her way through the crowd to get to the red haired girl. After a flurry apologies and “excuse me’s” she finally managed to grab a spot on the wall next to Aileen.

“A very big party, isn’t it?” Bai practically had to shout to be heard amongst the sound of loud music.

ooc: sorry about the delay.

Zeke Aberci
Eira was trying to comfort him through his monologue. It had been a sweet idea. The problem is that's how I view myself. I was a student that could compete with Acanth before mom got hurt. If she could see me now, I bet my mother would be disappointed. I've let my grades fall and basically given up on my own dream. Zeke's internal problems were his and his alone. He couldn't just go off on another tangent to an acquaintance at bets. It seemed that Zeke's desire to look out for Eira was being misinterpreted.....again. "First off, rumors don't faze me anymore, especially since there are so many false ones about me anyway and secondly, I'm not doing this because I don't have faith in you. I just know how guys can be when they're drunk. They don--" Zeke's words were cut off as a fellow "trouble maker" interrupted. He was clearly not interested in even acknowledging Zeke and that was fine. It happened a lot when people wanted to talk to Bai during school hours. Judging from the look on the guy's face he had something on his mind, it was best to give people space when they looked like that. So, Zeke turned away and grabbed his soda bottle before standing up. "Just come find me if a guy doesn't want to take no for an answer Eira." He looked over his shoulder with a small smirk while starting off. "I'll make sure that they learn to mind a woman's boundaries." With a quick flick of his wrist in a wave, Zeke disappeared back into the house and into the sea of raging desires, hormones, and booze.

Inside, Zeke felt annoyed. The music had gotten louder and the partiers were getting more and more intoxicated with every minute. His hands tightened around the soda bottle as a girl walked up to him and started clinging to him. Crap, forgot that I don't have my jacket to cover up. She wasn't part of his select few that he dealt with. That meant she was drunk and that meant Zeke needed to leave. Detaching himself from her, Zeke wound up on the dance floor. Unfortunately, the stress was building and the "phenomenon" happened. Everyone on the dance floor slowed around him, the booming music became void, the smell of alcohol vanished. It was like he just escaped from hell only to be imprisoned inside of a soundproof box that he could only see out of. It was terrifying but Zeke wasn't missing this opportunity. He zipped through the crowd slipping past each of the people without a care until he got to the wall just as time seemed to go back to normal. What the hell is wrong with me?! Some of the dancers started to talk about a blur of motion that had just run through the entire space while some people on the edge mumbled why everyone had seemed to slow down to let one person through before catching back up to the song.

So I'm not imagining it. Time IS slowing down. Zeke's first theory on what was happening had finally been confirmed, sort of. The question now was why, but that would have to wait. Going from booming noise to deafening silence straight back to booming noise left him with a migraine. He inched over into a corner before downing the remaining half of the soda in his bottle and setting it down beside him. "Fuck." He grumbled to nobody in particular while watching people dance. He saw Uriel trying his best to dance with a drunk Aurora. Good for him. He smiled while watching the pair for a moment before he looked to his side. It was someone that had shown up at the same time as Sarah. Leonora Sessou wasn't somebody was exactly close to. However he didn't actively try to keep his distance. She and he just never really seemed like the pair that would mesh too well. Plus, she had an innate ability to find out people's worries and secrets. Both of which were problematic, but at this point, Zeke just wanted a momentary distraction. "So, the gathering a bit too large for your tastes?" Zeke tried to start the conversation, but he felt weird doing it. He should've probably said hey or something, but the way she was just standing there with a wine cooler dancing by herself kind of spoke for a lot.

Leonora Sessou
When someone appeared before her she hadn’t paid them any mind at first. She figured that they were simply trying to avoid the large crowd of drunk, high, and hormonal teenagers like herself. However, when they began talking she realized that they were trying to make conversation with her. Leonora blinked and turned her gaze towards the one who’d approached her. Zeke was his name, if she was remembering correctly. Like many of the other party-goers she had seen him around school often. The two of them had never talked before and were from two different social circles. Leonora didn’t know why he’d decided to strike up a conversation but decided to humor him, it wouldn’t hurt to be more outgoing for once. “Yeah this isn’t my type of thing. What gave it away?” She raised a brow. It was probably the fact that she was standing against the wall all by herself of course.

Leonora took a sip of her wine cooler, her fifth to be exact, and looked back at the crowd. She had no idea why she wasn’t drunk right now and if she were being honest she was getting a little frustrated. Leonora wanted to forget her worries, even if only for a night as well. But with the way things were going it seems like that wasn’t going to happen. She turned her attention back to her fellow student. “It’s Zeke right? We have a few classes together I think.”

[div class=title] Aurora Everleigh[/div] [div class=quote]❝ death by a thousand cuts ❞[/div] [div class=textbox][div class=scroll] Aurora would like the record to note that she was drunk. She would like it written down so that she could maybe have some semblance of an excuse for the swirl of emotions bellowing inside her as Uriel complied. Aurora did well convincing herself she is not that drunk right until she doesn’t, right until the alcohol fizzing in her bloodstream made her become someone too honest for her liking. 'Are you okay,' he asked, to which she answered. "No." No, she was not okay. How could she be? Her best friend had died and here she was, drowning her in alcohol. For a small moment, Aurora wanted to yell at him for asking that, for making her emotions even more of a mess even though she stakes so much on being contained. Yes, literally no one was stopping her from publicly grieving and literally no one was forcing her to keep this facade up, but how she would vocalise the pain, the guilt, the anger, the grief and the empathy she'd barely kept in check whilst everyone else threw down theirs? No, she was not ready yet.. So the mask slipped back on with a dazzling smile, and she quickly giggled " I've had way too much alcohol." because to sell a lie is to mix it with the truth. It was evident that dancing wasn't one of Uriel's frequent activities, his posture slightly stiff as he moved to the rhythm of the beat. He was not the worst dancer and it could be either the alcohol – it could very well be the alcohol – but somewhere in her inebriated state, the female found his dancing style charming in a way. He was way too far away for her liking though. Taking measures into her own hands, the woman guided his hands back to her waist, before linking her arms around his neck. One step closer and the distance between their two swaying bodies was reduced to almost nothing. She was close enough to feel the heat radiating from his body, close enough to catch a hint of his scent, close enough to examine every detail of his face. Her brown irises trailed the way his hair fell over his forehead, explored the brown hue of his eyes, before lowering down at his lips. A dangerous thought crossed the mind, one incited by liquor and.... something else. Aurora was a female of bad decisions. It was a very bad decision to bottle these emotions up, it was a very bad decision to drink so much to the point of being an emotional wreck, and it was a super bad decision to start dancing with Uriel because he might give her that look and she'd have to kiss him. Did that stop her from doing them all? Ha, no. So, Aurora continued, tilted her head to the side while slowly leaning in closer and closer until... Her frame froze at the notification sound and she snapped out of her daze. In slight disorientation, she took a step back and pulled the phone out of her bag to check on the message. Perhaps God had been watching over her and took action in preventing her from doing something she might regret later on because Bai's response gazes back at her with a peculiar insistence. " ahhh it looks like my best friend has arrived." she stated, eyes averting back to her dance partner. "I'll go and say hi real quick~! Be right back," she flashed him an apologetic smile, squeezed his arm, before leaving the dance area. Aurora started to weave her way through the sea of people, eyes searching for her friend, all while ignoring the racing beat of her heart. Ahh fuck, she really had had too much alcohol. She was surprised, to say the least, when Bai suddenly appeared next to her on the wall. She smiled slightly at her, and nodded. It was a very big party, indeed. She wasn't sure how she felt about it, honestly. “Yeah. It is. When.... when did you get here, Bai?” She asked the girl curiously. Aileen didn’t like the fact that she had to raise her voice to speak. She didn’t like yelling in general, but she reminded herself it was fine because the music compensated for it.

“This music might give me a headache.” She murmured, almost sadly, as the blasting sounds that resonated through the house drowned her voice. She resisted the urge to cover her ears, and instead took a glance around the room. That’s when she saw Aurora. She knew her and Bai were really close, probably best friends if she had to guess. One good thing about being the quiet person was you learned a lot, because no one cared what you heard.

Aurora didn't look too good, now that Alieen was paying attention. Not in the sense that she wasn’t pretty, because that girl was very pretty. More in the sense of her face was slightly flushed, and she wasn’t exactly walking straight. By all accounts, she seemed drunk. Aileen chewed on her bottom lip as she came to that realization. She knew Aurora had lost someone important in the recent deaths, just like herself. But Aurora was different in the fact that she dealt with her sorrows in a.... different manner. Aileen just cried at home. She didn’t know which was better.

As soon as she saw Aurora, she tapped Bai’s shoulder, and pointed her out. “I wouldn’t be surprised if she was looking for you.” She said, taking in the way Aurora was looking around. She wanted to follow them, seeing as they were one of the few people she knew, but she didn’t want to seem super clingy.

In her mind, she knew she would keep an eye out for Nathaniel, wherever he might be, but for now she would stick with them if they were ok with it. She had some sort of bad feeling in her gut. Like something was going to happen, and she needed to stick next to people. Of course, that could be the nervousness of what’s been going on with her recently. Who knew.

The party didn't work did it, Jordan? Didn't ease the pain, didn't stop the agony of loss.... of your loneliness. Jordan sat against the wall of his parents room, a bottle of some unknown liquid lying between his legs while he held his face in his hands. Emotions were pouring from every orifice. Sadness, grief and anger. Anger directed towards himself. How could he feel like this? There were kids much worse off. Jordan had a nice house, lots of money ad throughout his whole life he would get anything with the snap of his fingers but yet sitting here in the untouched room he couldn't help but think it was unfair. Why did he deserve this? What did he do wrong? He hated himself for thinking that. He hated the way he though he shouldn't go through hardships.

Tears streamed down his face as he stood. Taking the bottle with him and let out an internal scream before launching the bottle at the wall, glass and liquid spraying the room. Jordan didn't stop at that. He started swinging at ornaments, pictures, anything that he could break. In a blind rage, Jordan didn't seem to realise that even when he missed something with his fists, it still broke, almost as if an invisible force was smashing through the object. Blood splattered across his hands, his knuckles embedded with small bits of glass as his crying continued. The great Jordan Parks reduced to a bawling mess, all because he felt lonely. Pathetic. Pathetic, he told himself as he fell to the ground once more. His anger still bubbling but with no other outlet he laid motionless, looking at the ceiling.

The radio clicked once more before falling the silent. The five men stood at the end of the street, eyeing up the property. Clad in all black each with pistols holstered on their hips, they were definitely not here to party. The man who had previously been talking on the radio sighed, "Alright, this is the best chance we're going to get," he told the others, turning to face them, "We go in, grab what we need and go, understood?" he questioned. The men nodded however there was clear unease and tension among them. "They're just kids, Callahan," one of the men spoke up with a sympathetic voice referring to their targets. The leader, Callahan rubbed the side of his face, "Kids that could kill us if left to their own devices," Callahan responded, "Alright enough time wasting lets go."
The men started to walk towards the large house. Music and cheers could be heard even this far away, cars lined the streets and a stench of alcohol drifted through the air. As they drew closer, each man un-holstered their weapons and dropped down to a crouching position apart from Callahan who marched right up to the front door and knocked loudly, taking an authoritative stance.

When the guy said that rumors didn't faze him anymore, Eira raised a skeptical eyebrow. The statement would have been a lot more convincing if he hadn't just told her how much people's views of him affected him. Obviously, it was no small matter, and though rumors that you were dating someone seemed a lot less toxic than rumors that you were a delinquent, she didn't want to add to his problems. Or her own, for that matter, as people thinking that they were dating was bound to make things problematic for her.

When he told her he wasn't suggesting it because he didn't have faith in her, but because of how guys got when they were drunk, Eira smiled. It was hard to stay upset with him when she knew his actions came from such a good place. To her, this was inextricably linked with his being a big brother protective of his younger sister, and therefore she appreciated the impulse and where it came from. Even though, despite being younger and smaller than he was, she didn't want to be treated that way. He was cut off mid-sentence as someone else arrived, and for a moment Eira thought Lucas had come back. To her surprise, it was the boy from before.

As he stood above them with a determined look on his face, Eira felt the cold lessening once more and sat wondering what it was he could want. In response to his arrival, Zeke turned away from her, grabbing his soda bottle and standing up from the bench. Eira blinked in surprise- not because she necessarily wanted him to stay but because, after his whole speech, he was leaving her alone with a guy so drunk he was swaying on his feet? It seemed fairly contradictory to her.

"Just come find me if a guy doesn't want to take no for an answer Eira," he told her before starting to walk away. He smirked at her over his shoulder and called back "I'll make sure that they learn to mind a woman's boundaries." Eira blushed at that, and wondered if it was also meant to send a message to the guy still standing over her. With a small wave of his hand, he was gone. She'd never even gotten his name... She also wondered how he had known hers, though she supposed maybe Lucas had been loud enough when he first showed up for him to overhear.

Eira now turned to the new arrival, wondering if he was there to insult her some more. To her surprise, he held out a satin handkerchief to her, declaring it was hers. Eira blinked in confusion- first at the handkerchief, then at him. She hadn't given him any handkerchief- just a glass of water (which, by the looks of things, he had ignored as thoroughly as she'd expected him to). He stood there, waiting for her to take it and looking impatient. She gingerly accepted it from him, inspecting it closely. It did indeed look like one of hers- complete with monogrammed initials-, but where could he have gotten-?

It hit her in a flash of realization. The alleyway, the boy... She stared at him wide-eyed, and now that she realized where she'd seen him before the recognition was instantaneous. She could almost superimpose the vision of his younger self over him. He hadn't changed much, except for getting taller and somehow even angrier with the world. Momentarily at a loss for words, she shook her head and remembered her manners.

"Um, thank you for returning it to me," she said. "You kept it all this time...?"

At that moment, a distraction arrived in the form of five men, armed and clad all in black. The leader walked up to the door, weapon drawn, and knocked loudly, and Eira wondered what on earth could be going on.

OOC: The scary men have arrived! ><

w5g127j5unwlj5.jpg“Only a few minutes ago.” Bai answered Aileen’s question. It wasn’t a hundred percent true. She had technically arrived fifteen minutes ago and had spent fourteen standing outside contemplating. But Aileen didn’t need to know that. The redhead murmured something Bai couldn’t hear before her eyes locked on something. Bai followed Aileen’s eyes to see a pretty drunk Aurora. The staggering movement and the flushed face.

Bai felt a tap on her shoulder.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if she was looking for you.” Aileen said and Bai just noticed the head swivel Aurora was performing. Bai went to her best friend and guided her back to the wall where Aileen was.

“Aurora, it’s good to see you!” Bai gave Aurora a brief hug. “Sorry for taking so long to get here. How are you doing?” Bai asked with a concerned look on her face. She knew that Aurora lost someone in the midst of the deaths that happened. Seeing Aurora this wasted was, likely, her way of grieving. Bai turned to Aileen with a look of concern on her face.

“Help me brave through this crowd to get Aurora to the kitchen? Her being this drunk can’t be good.”

Devin Waters
Devin's head jerked up at the sound of his name. A smile automatically went to his face, unwilling to fully let others see the devastation that was raging inside of him. However, as he saw who stood in front of him, he allowed the grin to dim, until the corners of his mouth were only just raised. For a moment, he wondered if the circles under his own eyes were darker than Nathaniel's artificially made ones, but then he focused back on his friend, and more specifically his friend's words.
"You're... turning?" The concept of the 'turn' had been a common conversation topic between the two, one of Nathaniel's favorites, but hearing the words now brought confusion. "Nat, what do you mean? Are those," he asked, pointing to the fangs poking out of the boy's closed mouth, "Are those real? What happened? How do you know? Did you get bitten?" Slowly, Devin was losing himself in the excitement of his friend's shift into actual vampirism. "Nat, that's amazing! I think. It's amazing, right? You're not like going to kill me or anything? I mean, just... how? How-"
Devin stopped. This wasn't how he was supposed to act anymore. He needed to be more serious, the type of person people would take seriously instead of just brushing off as some sort of wide-eyed, naive little child. Taylor had never been brushed off, not even by adults decades older than him. Devin had been brushed off by even his peers.
"Nat..." He spoke, the elation leaving his voice. "We've talked about this. I can't- I can't participate in these kinds of discussions anymore." The words hurt to say, like Devin was condemning a piece of himself. "We can still talk, but... not like this."
Devin knew, deep down, that the words were unfair. It wasn't fair to force himself to stop fantasizing, and it certainly wasn't fair to Nat to suddenly put rules on their friendship. 'Life isn't fair,' he told himself, repeating the words he'd hated so much. It hadn't been fair to Taylor, in the end, and so there was no way it would be fair to Devin.
"I'm sorry." Devin muttered, whether that was to Nat, himself, or maybe even Taylor, was unclear, but the words were applicable all the same.

Ibuki was glad the other male left, if only because he didn't want to go through this hassle in front of someone else. He noticed her confusion when he held out the handkerchief- it really did seem like she was unable to remember their past, even when he presented evidence of it. The male didn't try to explain anything to her, he didn't see the point of it. She still took it in the end though.

However, her memory seemed to kick in a few moments later, as the obvious confusion on her face disappeared, replaced by realization. He returned her wide-eyed stare with a cool gaze, seeming like composed person for a moment before his eyes went slightly out of focus again. I wonder how much she remembers though...

"...I hate to owe people," he explained in a monotone, however the tip of his ears turned red as he felt embarrassed. I shouldn't have kept it, idiot.

He noticed a well-dressed male knocking at the front door of Jordan's house and felt slightly confused as to why someone who clearly wasn't a highschooler or Jordan's family member was here. Returning his attention to Eira, he cleared his throat, "Anyways, I'll be on my way now." He had no desire to continue to stay there, being around Eira made him feel strange. Not in the romantic way, but more like in the 'Why is my head beginning to feel bloated?' way.

Jordan stumbled out of the room. He was too drunk too care about his appearance. The blood had almost dried up, his hands drenched in the crimson colour. Jordan was intent on getting more alcohol, more fuel to the fire. A he made his way to the head of the stairs there seemed to be some sort of commotion happening at the bottom of the stairs. Jordan staggered down the stairs, he assumed some sort of teenage drama was in the making and was going to ignore it until he overheard some words in his drunken state. Something about guns and a man at the front door. Jordan stopped in his tracks, drawing some stares due to his hands. He turned to the small crowd, "Wha...t the fuckkk is going on," he slurred to no one in particular. However no one really responded, merely just looking on in horror at his hands.

Jordan was getting angry now at the lack of response and pushed past the other teenagers and took a few uneasy steps towards the door. Swinging it pen, his glazed over eyes met a figure dressed in black. Jordan cringed as he assumed it was a cop or something like that, "Yeah?" he tried to say in the most sober voice he could muster. The man looked Jordan up and down, the two were matched in height but the man was very clearly bigger in muscle mass, being almost as wide as he is tall. Jordan was still nervous, if this man was going to shut down the party, Jordan was going to be pissed.

Callahan noticed a few kids scatter in the front lawn as he knocked on the door. The man waited patiently, noting the windows and other entrances on the front side. Eventually the door swung open to reveal a shirtless teen with bloodied hands. Within seconds of seeing the teen, Callahan noted everything. Weakened hands, possibly from fighting? Most definitely drunk, the smell was pungent. The teen was very clearly fit, could probably hold his own against most of his peers, not Callahan however. No, Callahan had trained in Mixed Martial Arts for well over twenty years and was a hardened military veteran. Very little could stop him. As the teen spoke, Callahan looked past him and noted the hallway being full of teens and whatever possible objects they could use against. With a smile, Callahan replied, "We're looking for -

Aileen could’ve sworn she heard something; a knock on the door. She swiveled her head toward the sound, but then faced back to Bai. She smiled, and almost reached out. But she stopped. Dont touch her. A voice seemed to yell at her for trying, and she retracted her hands back a bit. Images of Cookie resurfaced in her mind, and the scene of rotting flesh in the shape of a hand. Her hand.

“I..... I don’t-“ She was cut off by some gasps of surprise, and she turned to the sounds. She then gasped herself, and put a hand over her mouth gently. Jordan, the person hosting the party, had appeared at the bottom of the stairs. But the fact that he was shirtless had nothing to do with why she gasped, though it may have affected a few other girls. It was the fact that his hands looked like they had been dipped in blood.

She watched as he went to the door, opening it wide to where she couldn't see. The music was blaring too loud for her to hear what was going on, but by the looks on the teens faces, something was happening. Was it someone from a rival school? Did they have a rival school? Maybe a personal enemy of Jordan’s? She couldn’t tell.

She continued to stare for a moment, before looking back to Bai. “Oh... um, yes. Sure.” She said, and held her hands behind her back. She wasn’t sure where Bai wanted her to hold Aurora, though she hoped it wasn’t for long and had clothes separating the touch. She shook her head, defiant to her thoughts. It’s ok. What happened with Cookie was a fluke. She thought. But why didn’t she believe herself?

[div class=title] Aurora Everleigh[/div] [div class=quote]❝ death by a thousand cuts ❞[/div] [div class=textbox][div class=scroll] She was about to kiss Uriel. She was about to kiss Uriel. Aurora firmly shook her head in an attempt to banish the thought from her mind. It was not that the thought of kissing Uriel repelled her, but even a drunk Aurora knew it would cross unspoken boundaries, and the last thing she wanted was to make things uncomfortable or awkward afterwards. Uriel was a good guy and certainly didn't deserve a heartbreak by the likes of her should she not feel the same way as him. However, her sudden retreatment might have led towards a similar outcome... Gosh, she was way too drunk to handle any of this. If Vera saw her in this state... A flurry of sadness washed over Aurora at the thought her best friend, memories barraging her mind of where she left it; briefly forgotten in a box of pictures, cast aside the moment she left the house to go to this party. This was stupid. Absolutely stupid. Wasn't this party supposed to make her feel better? Why was she feeling like shit right now? Aurora wished to disregard her disobedient, emotional-riddled mind, wanted to discard her disobedient body, frustrated by these depressed reactions. Too occupied with her own battle, the female had not noticed the approach of the designated person she was searching for until her surroundings had suddenly blurred into new scenery and her eyebrows furrowed in slight confusion. "Bai-" she uttered, dazed. Words were slowly registered in her mind. Again, the question. God, why did people keep asking how she was doing? It was stupid. It was - fuck.. Was she actually crying right now? Her hand went up to her face and fingers touch the wet trail down her cheek, eyes blinking to hold back any more tears from streaming. Aurora blamed it on the alcohol. Also, she would like it for the record to not that there was no crying, only tearing slightly up. Yup, that was it. "Ah, I'm sorry -" she let out a small laugh, partly at herself. "I'm just really glad to see you Bai!" it was not even a lie, though not the complete truth either. Her eyes narrowed to the other person. "Aileen, hi! How are you?" she greeted with a smile. "What, no I'm okay! I am not that drunk.." She assured her close friend, though her little stumble didn't give much credence to the statement. "I was dancing with Uriel.. I should probably get back to him." Her attention is then grabbed by whispers floating about, a commotion forming in the hall. What was going on? " Ah, wait here," she told her best friend, before starting to make her way into the hall. People were standing there, looking at .... a man? Dressed in a uniform? Oh shit.. Was that the police? Her eyes then landed on Jordan and she quickly went to his side, hand placed on his arm. "Jordan, what's going on?" she questioned, voice edged with slight worry. Zeke Aberci
The music's pounding continued to worsen Zeke's migraine as he tried to focus on his conversation with Leonora. "What gave it away? The fact that you're over here quietly observing the party instead of dancing away your heartache and woes like the others." Zeke placed a hand to his head as he just wished for the phenomenon to trigger again. Silence and the lack of pain would be greatly appreciated to this pounding. "Ugh. I should've just stayed outside." He grumbled while looking out the window, his eyes catching a person approaching the house very differently then a cop would. Zeke half listened as Leonora continued to talk to him. "Yeah. We have a couple of classes together. Though we wouldn't normally socialize like this." Zeke moved to the window as he caught sight of one of the men walking up to the door with a gun on his hip. Not good. He kept his eyes focused while positioning himself closer to the window. The thumping at the door got more of the party goers attention, several thought they were cops, but there was no car. And cops would normally come in a single pair to stop a party that was just getting too loud or any other easy to contain problems, like a drunken patron at a bar. Something else was definitely going on.

"Leonora." Zeke called to the girl while Jordan came down the stairs, clearly wasted beyond imagining. "You're pretty smart right? Know of any reasons why an armed person might walk up to a high school party?" Zeke felt tense and his focus helped drown out the music. It was a reprieve from the headache, but fear was a bit more intense of a problem. "I think that this party is about to end in a not so pleasant way." Zeke slowly started opening the window when he caught sight of Bai, Aurora and Aileen heading to the kitchen. Fuck. His thoughts were swirling as he contemplated what to do. There were too many unknowns for him to act. The primary thing to do now was leave. Whether or not they were cops didn't matter.

Nathaniel saw Devin's head jerk up when he heard him call his name. This was immediately followed by a disturbingly fake smile. Nathaniel knew his friend's true smile, and that wasn't it- that grimace was painful for him to look at. When he recognized who it was approaching him, however, the fake grin faded to the smallest of smiles- it was a sad expression. When he registered Nathaniel's words, Devin's first reaction was confusion. He then pointed at Nathaniel's fangs and asked if they were real. Nat grinned wide.

He then immediately began launching rapid-fire questions and exclamations, getting more and more excited, and Nathaniel glowed inside to see him like this again, and to know he'd been able to bring it about. Even if it turned out that he had been wrong about turning, the whole thing had been worth it just to see the expression on Devin's face.

Unfortunately, at some point during his questions, Devin trailed off. His face darkened again, the brightness of his expression dimmed, and the shadow came over him once more. His voice now going flat and emptying of excitement, he said

"Nat... We've talked about this. I can't- I can't participate in these kinds of discussions anymore." Nathaniel could see and feel the pain his friend was experiencing even as he said the words. "We can still talk, but... not like this." He seemed to be undergoing an internal struggle, like he was trying to convince himself, finally muttering "I'm sorry." Nat deflated along with him- he was a sensitive soul, and seeing his best friend like this really got to him. Moving in closer so he could be heard over the loud music without having to shout, he responded

"Dev, you can't keep doing this. Trying to become like Taylor is tearing you apart from inside; I can see it- I can feel it," he said seriously, looking straight at him and earnestly pleading with his eyes. "I know you're in pain over what happened to him, but denying yourself who you are to somehow honor his memory is not the way to deal with that pain- trust me, I know." He flashed back to the moment of his mother's death and the various phases he had gone through then to deal with his grief. Reaching out, he clasped Devin's hand in his own, squeezing gently.

"Please let me be there for you- let me help you get through this. I can help- I know I can."

He would have continued talking, but at that moment a commotion was heard by the front door, and most people had turned to see what was going on.

OOC: Them feels! xD

"...I hate to owe people," the boy explained in a flat voice. Paying close attention to his expression, however, and if she wasn't imagining things (which she very well might be, considering it was dark outside), it almost looked like he was... blushing? Was he embarrassed? Eira had to admit, she had never expected the boy from that time to keep the handkerchief, much less return it to her years later. She assumed he had been using it all this time- why else would he have it on him? But as she ran it through her hands, it seemed clean and unused.

They were both distracted by the man in black who walked up to the door. He knocked, and someone opened it. Eira wondered what this could be about, and if this was maybe someone's father and they were in trouble. Her attention was brought back to the boy in front of her when he spoke again.

"Anyways, I'll be on my way now." As he turned to leave, Eira reached out before she could think about what she was doing and grabbed his arm.

"Wait, please I-" Whatever she had been about to say was lost in the sensation that suddenly overwhelmed her. With nothing between her hand and his skin but the thin fabric of his hoodie, whatever strange sensation had been passing between them intensified tenfold, and Eira suddenly felt beads of sweat appear on her brow as her entire body warmed up at once. She let go of the boy's arm and the cold returned. She was certain now- he was definitely doing something. She looked up at him seriously, the slightest flush coloring her cheeks.

"You felt that too, right?" she asked.

OOC: Short post!

The male was startled by Eira's actions of grabbing him and turned back to look at her, his face obviously confused. It seemed out of character for her, as he didn't think they were close enough for her to touch him so freely and he was sure she was too proper to just grab someone out of nowhere- well, apparently not.

Her touch caused Ibuki to feel a significant increase in whatever this girl had been doing to him. Creasing his brow, he glared at her, about to shake off her hand when she let go of him herself. This girl...

"What? Felt you grab me? Yes, I did," he retorted, playing dumb. Eira had denied doing anything to him earlier, but he refused to believe it. Especially when the weird phenomenon only happened in her presence so far. "What do you want? I don't have all day-" He interrupted himself, refraining from saying her name as that would give away he was more familiar with her than he let on.
