"Oh, a battle?" Reina seemed confident at the mention. "Finally, something I can get in the back off!"

"That doesn't make any sense-" The sailor began to express but he jumped back as the Hawlucha landed in front of him, taking a grappler stance. "Fine, you want it, you got it. 1k on the line, yeah? We could use the extra money, let's go Octillery!"

"Come on Vinno, let's show them the best duo of all time." Reina crossed her arms with confidence, her green eyes set on the opponents in front of them. "They're going to regret picking a fight with us."

"We weren't picking a- nevermind! Come on, let's do this!" The sailor gritted his teeth as he looked at Reina's smug face.

VINNO

July 27th, Melemele Island
Interactions: Reina ( Hecotoro Hecotoro )

"Well, if you say so then." Vinno looked at the other girl agreeing with her assessment of the situation, if this other trainer thinks this is a battle challenge, then there's no reason to not go with that. It did give Vinno a bit of a headache though, she preferred to not have her Pokemon get into pointless battles, they didn't like it super much, unless it was for a video.

The Rotom tablet flew out from Vinno's bag and hovered around. The construction worker looked at the scene and shook his head slowly. "Fine, if this is what we're doing, let me show you my newly evolved Pokemon!" He said as he tossed out a Pokeball containing a Gigalith.

Atria the Talonflame perched on the nearby rocks let out a cry, Vinno looked at the two Pokemon sent out by their opponents and remembered how Reina only had a Hawlucha with her. "Atria, you stay back." She waved her hand at the fire-flying type, a water and rock type being on the field made Talonflame a poor choice for a match like this, in theory. Vinno pulled out the other Pokeball she had with her and released Pulitz the Gengar.

"Gengar are Pokemon that can learn many types of special moves, even if your Hawlucha could use fighting type moves on it, Gigalith have extremely strong physical defense, but weaker special defense," Vinno explained to Reina. "Pulitz, will-o-wisp on the Gigalith! Don't let rock type moves through!"

The Gengar snickered a bit and put down his camera when entering the battle, his body started to glow in a faint purple light and multiple glowing balls of flame emerged from the round Pokemon. The purple fireballs radiating a ghostly energy swirled and rushed at the opponent rock-type, scorching and blocking its vision.

"Yes, I always wanted to team up with a Gengar. Morty's was so padre, I'm even considering getting-"

"Octazooka!"

The Octillary gathered energy in its mouth before shooting a big ball of black ooze. Hawlucha was too busy listening to Reina, getting hit with the attack in the eyes, causing the bird to stumble back, desperately shaking his head trying to get rid of the substance.

"Blue Demon! Sorry! Quick, Hone Claws!"

With a growl, Blue Demon began grinding his claws together, sending sparks flying as his vision began to adjust. The red water Pokemon wasn't done yet, taking advantage of the bird's step back, it aimed its attention at the Gengar, firing another Octazooka at it.

VINNO

July 27th, Melemele Island

"Substitute! Don't let it blind you!" Vinno commanded. Although substitute took a toll on the Pokemon to create, sometimes similar to the damage dealt by a move, it would prevent the move from affecting the Pokemon in ways beyond damage as well. In this instance, the blinding effects of octozooka's ink.

Gengar's body glowed a bit, and the ghost Pokemon quickly dashed away, Gengar were decently fast Pokemon after all. While moving, the Pokemon also left behind a Gengar-shaped outline of light in his place. The octozooka struck the substitute, and the outline faded, but the murky ink all dropped on the ground with the fading substitute instead of blinding the Pokemon.

"Let's see..." Vinno tried to run through the attacking moves Pulitz knew, he often used substitutes in video shoots as props or extra tripods, but more offensive moves were a rarer sight. Giga drain would be super effective, but would its weaker power and not being Gengar's type hinder its effectiveness? Her Pokemon wasn't damaged yet so the draining effect wouldn't be needed, perhaps something like a sludge bomb would do more damage because Gengar was a poison type...

"Use rock polish, then hit them both with a rock slide!" The worker commanded the Gigalith, which began to glow after the command, using the move. The surface of the rock-type shone brilliantly for a moment and the formerly slow boulder Pokemon suddenly began to move at a much higher speed. It summoned floating rocks all around it, and threw it at Reina and Vinno's Pokemon, with a move that would hit both Pokemon on the field.

"Tsk! No-" Vinno realized she took up too much time thinking and allowed the other side to gain momentum, but at least now there was a clear path forward with the battle. "Use clear smog on the Gigalith, we can't let it remain that fast!" Their Pokemon didn't resist rock-type moves, it would be dangerous to let run amok like that, the speed would make dodging any fighting type moves from Hawlucha easier as well.

The Gengar, somewhat damaged after being pelted by rocks, shuffled side to side in the air and blew out a cloud of white smoke that enveloped the Gigalith. "We should focus on one Pokemon in a double battle, that would make the situation two against one. Area of effect attacks may seem appealing, but they won't be the best option if both of the opponents are still very energetic." She said to Reina quickly, not sure if the other caught any of the words.

"Fight back those rocks, Cross Chop!"

Blue demon held his arms up, his forearms glowing as he braced himself for the incoming boulders. He lunged himself at the, breaking through a few of them before lending a few meters ahead from his original spot. Pulitz had taken a good hit, but now Hawlucha was in a position to go after either opponent.

Reina nodded as she heard Vinno's words. She was right, if they manage to take down one side, then they can take down the second one with a two versus one situation. "Got it, follow our lead!"

"No you don't! Water Pulse!" The sailor called out, his eyes fixed on Reina and Vinno instead of the match.

The Octillery did as it was told. It gathered a large amount of water at the base of his mouth and shot it like a canon ball towards Blue Demon. The fighting bird knew better though. His eyes gained a green glow as he expertly dodged the incoming attack as if it was nothing, activating Detect on his own.

"Now, separate the rock Pokemon from them, Submission!"

Blue Demon ducked and rushed forward, his arms reaching out to grab the Gigalith. If effective, he would manage to toss the giant stone towards their side of the field, leaving it at the mercy of Pulitz while Hawlucha was left to face the water Pokemon.

VINNO
Rhines
July 27th, Melemele Island
Interactions: Reina ( Hecotoro Hecotoro )

"Gengars are not very defensive Pokemon...that attack really hurt..." Vinno mumbled as she realized that the rock slide had done in a big chunk of Pulitz's health. Physical attacks weren't Gengar's strong suit, it would be unlikely that he could take another attack from the Gigalith. But the clear smog has cleared away the speed of the rock-type, rendering rock polish useless, and Reina's Hawlucha managed to throw it closer to them.

"Giga drain! We need to get back on track" Submission was a super effective move on the rock-type, but it was just used to throw the Pokemon across the field, it didn't seem to be used to deal much if any damage at all. But now that the Gigalith was in mid-range of Gengar, it's possible to use Giga Drain to recover some of their lost health and do heavy damage to Gigalith, perhaps even knocking it out.

Gengar opened his mouth and a green-hued energy beam shot out and struck Gigalith, sapping the rock-types energy in a super-effective hit. "Gengars have quite powerful special attacking potential, those that achieve mega evolution can even output power on par with mythical Pokemon." Vinno pushed her glasses, "even though we don't battle much, our potential is still on our side." She added

The giga drain seems to have helped Gengar recover some of his health lost to the previous rock-type move. Vinno thought it was over, as she previously mentioned, Gigalith is not great when it comes to defending against special grass and water-type moves. But after the dust and green light had faded, the Gigalith remained standing.

"Haha! Your friend should've tried to do more damage! There's no way we'll be taken out like that!" That worked laughed and boasted at the endurance of his Pokemon.

"I see, so Gigalith's ability is sturdy...No wonder your move for gaining momentum was rock polish rather than sandstorm, your Pokemon could afford taking hits." Vinno said, clearly understanding what the worker meant. No sand was stirred up when the Pokemon was sent out, so it couldn't have been sand stream, and it did not attempt to set up sandstorm either, instead going for the more risky rock polish made clear the Pokemon's battling habits.

"Now, stomping tantrum!" The worker commanded as the rock type began to strike the ground again and again, kicking up pieces of dirt and gravel upwards toward the Gengar, then attempting to straight up pounce on the ghost Pokemon.

"Pull up!" Vinno tried to tell Pulitz to dodge, but even though Gengars could float, they weren't able to levitate upwards fast enough to avoid ground-type moves that simply. The Gigalith used its rocky body to strike the ghost-type as Vinno frowned at the miscalculation. "Tsk- Pulitz, are you alright?" She called into the dust cloud. The Gengar was significantly weakened, and was clearly barely holding on. The worker laughed again. "Let's do that again and finish this! Stomping tantrum!"

The Gigalith tried to bash the ground once more, but a strange purple static appeared around the rocky Pokemon and halted its movements. Vinno's eyes light up a bit at this turn of events. "You made the mistake of attacking us directly." She commented simply. Pulitz's cursed body ability has managed to prevent the Gigalith from using such a devastating move again. Now there was the weakened Gigalith, the Octillery, as well as Reina's Hawlucha on the field.

"Tell your Hawlucha to go on the defense!" Vinno shouted towards Reina as she seized the opportunity to not waste any moves. "Pulitz! Dazzling gleam!" Now that one of the opponent's Pokemon was weakened enough to be fainted by an area-of-effect move, it was a better opportunity to use one to get damage on the other Pokemon as well. Although this fairy-type move would be super effective if it hit her teammate, Vinno has caught the other's fighting type using the protective move detect previously.

"Got it, Detect!"

Blue Demon nodded as his eyes glowed once more while the field got covered in a sparkling flash, causing both opponents to stumble back. That was the opening they needed. Octillery was too busy recovering from the Dazzling Gleam to even notice that Hawlucha had jumped into the air. As the water type tried to recuperate and locate the missing fighting Pokemon, Blude Demon was dividing down towards it, his arms forming a cross and glowing as he shot downwards like an arrow.

"Cross Chop!" Reina held up her arms in a similar x formation while her Pokemon crashed into the Octillery. "Got them!"

"Octillery!" The sailor cried out, the dust settling to reveal his unconscious Pokemon.

"Vinno that was great!" Reina cried out as she moved closer to her partner. "Your Gengar is so cool! I love how many moves he has, his so fast and agile too, makes me one to go find one right now!"

The sailor returned his water Pokemon and walked over to Reina and Vinno, handing Reina his share of the prize money. "I guess you don't really need a tour with such strong Pokemon with you."

Blue Demon walked proudly over to Gengar, offering to shake his hand as a sign of respect.

"...Mhm. Yeah" Vinno looked away sheepishly at the other girl's excitement about winning the battle. It's not like Vinno wasn't happy to win, she just doesn't get too worked up about this sort of thing. "I...they were total hobbyists anyways, you could hard read every move." She added quietly, she was never really confident about her actual battling abilities, but also that her Pokemon didn't enjoy it that much either. "And, uh, thanks...yeah, Gengars can learn a lot of moves, its a quirk of a lot of Kantonian Pokemon...they learn a pretty big variety, mostly special attacks too, really interesting, lets you use a lot of unexpected moves in battle..." Vinno replied to the compliment in the same slightly awkward fashion.

Gengar looked at the Hawlucha, he tilted his head (which is sort of just his entire body) with a similarly meek expression before melting into the shadows and vanishing from in front of the fighting-type Pokemon. The ghost reappeared a bit away from the battlefield, where he placed down his camera before battling. The Gengar picked up the camera again and began to click through it while sitting in the shadows of a rock quietly.

"Oh. Sorry." Noticing that her Gengar had left the other trainer's Pokemon hanging, Vinno scratched her head and apologized on the Pokemon's behalf. "...I...my Pokemon look stronger than they actually are, Aeos has this...weird...thing...going on. And they don't really like battling either, I just thought it was unfair for you to do that double battle alone, since you said you only had one Pokemon with you and all...That sound like its against some sort of rules to be fair..."

Reina sneakered and shook her head. "It's okay, we rushed into it. It was our fault also, we could've just asked for a one on one. Besides, it wouldn't be the first time we faced several trainers in a row. Actually, out in the road, specially at first, it's pretty common." Reina waved at the Gengar, "Sorry, we promise to make it up with some delicious food!"

As the battle was behind them, the tour of the popular Melemele island continued. Route 2 was full of great sights, Pokemon and people. This time the Metztlian trainer kept her eyes from meeting other trainers, not wanting to start stacking up battles. While on their way, a loud buzzing sound caught the attention of Reina.

Down the road was a farm, it extended quite a bit down the land and it was full of berry trees. On such place there were several Beedrill roaming around. As the duo got closer, the cries of battle were becoming more and more clear. Soon, they could make out a young lady wearing a green dress and a white hat covering her face as A Breloom tired to spore the attacking stinger Pokemon.

"We need to help her out!" Reina called, not waiting for her partner to give her an answer as she started running towards said location. Upon arrival, Reina didn't have to say anything for her Hawlucha to rush into to help out. He moved from tree to tree, as if he had known the area his whole life.

While the Beedrill were fully evolved, Blue Demon and his Aerial Ace were more than enough to push them back or knock some of them down. Still, the swarm was pretty big, as the yellow bug Pokemon kept coming one after another.

"There's something in the middle of the field attracting them!" The flower lady called out.

Reina turned to face Vinno, "I'm rushing in, you coming?"

"H-huh?"

The tropical climate wasn't Vinno's preferred habitat, as she did come from a chilly city that's a bonafide concrete jungle, she was a little distracted overall, in a daze with all the rustling of grass and hot Alolan winds on her face.

So when Reina rushed forward and talked about 'helping' someone, Vinno snapped back to reality, but hadn't exactly understood the situation yet. She was already lagging behind the other more seasoned trainer. As much as Vinno knew about battling in theory, she didn't have much experience traveling like a trainer, walking long distances and frolicking in the wilderness were not her strong suits.

After a few seconds, it seems like Reina has already rushed ahead. Vinno could see that quite a few Beedrill were swarming an area up ahead on the route. Beedrill weren't the most powerful Pokemon, but they were rather fast and could inflict poison.

"Careful! Even if your Pokemon is a flying-type-" Vinno tried to call out to Reina, but it wasn't the time, the other seemed a bit too fired up to properly respond to her.

So instead, Vinno can only turn to the lady at the farm with her Breloom.

"Um, right, my Talonflame can fly in to check what is there," Vinno said, seeming a bit hesitant though as she let out the flaming bird Pokemon from a Pokeball. "Would you be alright on your own? Um, I mean, some Breloom are immune to poison with their ability poison heal, if that's the case you can use their poisoning to your advantage and-" Vinno trailed off before shaking her head, "Oh, uh, sorry, this isn't the time."

Vinno turned back to Reina with Talonflame swooping down beside her. "Rushing in could get you poisoned easily! It would be disastrous if we faced a stalling battle in there! Even if Hawlucha is a flying type they can't fly high enough to avoid the bugs. Talonflame can fly high above the Beedrill, she can take you straight to the middle!" Vinno added, before nodding to her Talonflame, who in a rush of warm wind glided outwards towards Reina.

"Um, Atria, uh, my Talonflame, she's not really good at...battling, so please try to avoid it?" Vinno shouted again, but she was rather unsure if adding provisions like that was a good thing, so her voice was more hesitant and trailed off again.

"She might not be used to battling but she's still a strong and healthy Talonflame, we'll be fine." Reina reassured her partner with a smile as she started making her way into the berry field. "Blue Demon! Move ahead to find out what is attracting them we will try and..." Reina stopped and sniffed the air. "You smell that? If I remember my time on the field back home, this is Sweet Scent?" The Metztlian sniffed the air once more and nodded. "Well some Pokemon must be filling the air with it."

While the others made their way through the trees, Blue Demon managed to reach the central area. To his surprise, there was a green Pokemon with a bulb on his back, cowering in the middle as the strong sweet aroma flooded out of its back. There were several Beedrill buzzing around it, as if fighting to decide who was going to get to feed on the delicious plant first.

"Come on Vinno, we're almost there! The Beedrill seem more interested in getting to the center than attacking us." Reina looked up at the big wasp Pokemon fighting each other with their stingers. "I think they're competing to see who gets to it first."

"Oh...come on..." Vinno muttered as Reina rushed forward. It was already obvious, but it seems like Reina was that type of trainer.

Vinno quickly reassured the woman tending to the berry farms as she watched the Beedrill move in towards the center area before following the other trainer further into the plants. The air smelled of something, as Vinno moved in closer she could tell it was the move sweet scent, Reina mentioned the same as well. Sweet scent wasn't a move commonly used in battles, but it is often used to attract rare or massive amounts of Pokemon in the wild. It appears the latter happened here.

"Sweet scent is attracting them and-" Atria the Talonflame landed, the bird Pokemon's movements were still quick, but it lost the same sense of sharpness compared to when they were back near the beaches and cliffs. "-it can make people and Pokemon sluggish if we stay in it for too long!" Vinno shouted towards Reina. Sweet scent often made Pokemon let down their guard and movements more distracted, it might be difficult to avoid the Beedrills' attacks, if they were to attack them of course.

After closing in, Vinno could see the source of the sweet scent, it was a Bulbasaur, something not commonly seen in the wild, but the environment around did support it well enough. "That's a Bulbasaur, it's a Pokemon capable of using sweet scent naturally...I'm not sure why it's like this, but-" The Beedrill were closing in on the grass-poison type, it seems like the sweet smell was the problem.

"Pulitz, clear smog!" Vinno commanded as she threw out Gengar. "Clear the sweet scent away!" The Gengar floated in the air and generated a clump of white smoke, hurling it in the direction where the sweet scent was the strongest.

"Clear Smog?" Reina stopped in her tracks as she watched the Gengar burst into action. "Wow your Gengar is so cool!"

The move was more than effective, it spread out removing the effects of Sweet Scent. The Beedrill seemed to wake up out of a daze and started quickly spreading around and moving out, as if trying to remember what they were doing. Even Blue Demon shook his head a bit, as if waking up from a short daydream. Reina started walking instead, as if trying not to disturb the wasps flying away.

"Good call Vinno, if we were to join forces we could become a great double battles team." Reina shot her partner a quick smile before finally reaching the Bulbasaur. "Well looks like we found the one responsible for this mess."

The small bulb Pokemon looked up at the trainers and let out a happy cry. It wiggle its back and started skipping towards the two. The grass type had a few signs of battle on it, but that didn't seem to bother it as it sniffed the air around Reina and Vinno. Delighted with the results, it joyfully started shaking its bulb, letting out that sweet smell once more.

"Otra vez?! Hey hey! Stop it!" Reina called out as she waved her arms as if trying to swap away the scent. "Bad Bulbasaur!"

The Pokemon stopped shaking and looked up at Reina with a confused look. "That was close." Reina sighed and watched the Pokemon sit down while still looking up at them. "What should we do Vinno? If we leave it here it might start doing that again. Maybe it is a little... you know... slow?"

The effect of the sweet scent faded as Gengar used clear smog, Vinno sighed a breath of relief, she didn't expect it to work that well. Sweet scent was a rarely seen move in official battles, and the environment of the route and berry farm was a far cry from the controlled environment of the battle stadiums, it was lucky that this decision worked out as good as it did.

"Uh...no, that's not really...my forte. Like, battling...it's really not." Vinno averted Reina's gaze and excitement.

When the Bulbasaur seemed poised to release the sweet scent again, Talonflame swooped down from the sky quickly and prepared to use her tailwind attack to blow the scent away again. Though it seems like Reina had managed to prevent that from happening in a more gentle fashion, the large fire and flying-type probably just scared the small Pokemon even more. Vinno sighed again before recalling her Pokemon to their Pokeballs so as to not startle the Bulbasaur again.

"...I'm...not sure. I'm not a breeder...or a doctor...I think you might be better off asking a professional whether there's something wrong with it." Some Pokemon were slower than others naturally, but Vinno knew that's not what Reina meant by 'slow' in this context. Pokemon, despite their similarities, still had unique characteristics. Vinno knew quite a bit about Pokemon in general, but ultimately she was never any good at cultivating relationships with specific Pokemon, it was one of the reasons why she still only had two by her side after all these years.

"Well...yeah...you're probably right, it might cause problems again if left around here..." Vinno looked around the route, it seems like they haven't gone that far from the city, as planned. "Maybe we could...bring it to a Center, or daycare, or something like that......places where someone can keep an eye on it, yeah..." She muttered while looking at the Bulbasaur wearily.

"Well, I guess you're not taking it?" Reina gave one look at Vinno's expression and laughed a bit. "Come here you little diablito."

The Metztlian trainer picked up the grass Pokemon into her arms, which made the Bulbasaur smile in delight. It seemed to be trying to shake its bulb again, but since it was pressed against Reina's chest, it just wiggled a bit. "It actually smells really nice." Reina said, taking in a deep breath as she began to walk back the way they had come from. "Okay, if you don't battle yourself, maybe you could couch me a bit? It would be nice having someone checking me out and telling me my mistakes and things I can improve. My masters are all like, be one with yourself, focus, close your surroundings, blah blah blah... I wish they could just say, don't use Extreme Speed too much or trying teaching your Pokemon this."

As they walked, Reina kept going on about her training with Chuck and how she had ended up in Alola. She also spoke about her gym battles, even her unofficial one against Claire and how she got destroyed by her. The foreign girl put feelings and passion into her story telling, as if she was living the moment, even her eyes getting teary in some parts and then a big smile on others, specially when she spoke of her friends. Finally, they reached the lady who had called for help.

After a quick conversation and a small reward, two jars of honey for each, 5 Lum Berries and 5 Sitrust berries, the duo was on their way. They needed to head back to the Pokemon Center, get someone to check up on the Bulbasaur, who was way too happy to be taken along and then decide their next move.

"Well...nah...I don't think I can train more Pokemon...personally." Vinno said, keeping the Bulbasaur has never even crossed her mind. Or perhaps the concept of taking in another Pokemon, in general, has never crossed her mind for years now.

"I mean...I do that sometimes, it's usually reserved for tier 2 and above Patrons of my channel..." When Reina asked her about coaching and Pokemon advice, Vinno mumbled a bit awkwardly. It was the less glamorous side of being an online personality, the whole idea of some people getting too personal with you para-socially by viewing you through a screen, getting a slew of questions asking about Pokemon battling advice was something Vinno gets on the regular.

But Reina was a bit different. She was someone who couldn't even tell the difference between a vlogger and a movie set, and someone who has never even heard of her name. It was a bit refreshing, interacting with someone like that. Vinno thought about turning the whole process into a video, but dismissed it soon after. Everyone's gotta live for themselves for a moment, living for herself and speaking her mind was what started Vinno's career, it felt solemnly ironic that she got so hung up with all the administrative matters for so long and forgotten what it was like to overthink every battle purely for the sake of it.

"I see......" Reina was a bit too enthusiastic in her descriptions, to the point where Vinno could barely understand what was happening. That wasn't great for analysis. "...Well, that stuff is important, understanding yourself and stuff......there's not really a one-size-fits-all all way to battle or train." Vinno said, she was reciting the outro and conclusion of every battle theory video she's made. "I suppose there's a lot of important knowledge, types and move interactions and stuff, but how you use them is really up to you. If you got any video recordings of your battles......It might be easier for me, it's not like I really know how you battle in the first place, in terms of coaching."

Once they arrived at the Pokemon Center, Reina moved over to the receptionist, letting them know the situation and asked is she could have them take the Bulbasaur. That's when things changed, as soon as she left the grass type on the desk, it began to wail. The seed Pokemon shed tears after tears as Reina jumped in reaction. She turned around and tried to understand the situation while the Chansey of the center was trying to calm down the crying Pokemon. Not only that, but the Sweet Scent was spreading again, causing other Pokemon in the center to turn their attention towards the Bulbasaur.

"Ack! No no, stop it!" Reina waved her arms and rushed back to the seed Pokemon, which stopped crying as soon as it saw Reina was there again. "You can't keep doing that!" The Metztlian trainer began scolding the small grass type, but it seemed just happy to be getting the attention. "You need to do everything Chansey says, okay?" Reina gave the bulb a pat on the head and began walking away again, only for the bawling to break out once more.

Reina stopped walking, this time not turning around and looking at Vinno, "You wouldn't happen to know how to stop this, would you?"

Vinno let out her Gengar once more after watching the Bulbasaur use sweet scent again in the Pokemon center. She didn't do anything yet, since clear smog was still a move that did damage rather than a move that only removed some effects such as haze, it would be a bad idea to use it too freely in a Pokemon center. It was more of a last resort option if neither Reina or the Pokemon center's staff can do anything about the situation.

Luckily, it did seem like Reina managed to get the Bulbasaur under control, even though it seemed like a rather temporary measure. She then came to ask Vinno about how to stop the Pokemon from constantly doing that.

Vinno tilted her head and looked lost in thought for a moment. "Hmm......" She mumbled to herself. "Pokemon can act capriciously for any number of reasons, some Pokemon species are more prone to doing things uncontrollably than others...but the Bulbasaur line doesn't really have any Pokemon-specific quirks like that..." Vinno started to explain her thoughts out loud. "So I think it's that there's something about this particular one..." She added.

"It might depend on whether this Bulbasaur is wild or already has a trainer...did we ever establish that? One of the most common reasons why a Pokemon uses its moves without any regard is that it doesn't respect its trainer, so it acts however it wants and could cause problems sometimes, the most common way to solve this is to just go through a lot of difficult battles and prove your strength to them, like gym battles or similar stuff......" Vinno continued, though she doubted that the Bulbasaur had a trainer, since there was no one who seemed like that in the place where they found it. Even if it once had a trainer, they likely don't want to deal with the Pokemon anymore. "But I suppose that could happen to wild Pokemon too, being unable to control their moves well and the likes. I'm not an expert when it comes to Pokemon health, so it could be a physical problem, but if the center says everything is normal about it, it's possible we can apply the same logic then. It likely needs a trainer and to go through battles in order to train its proficiency with moves to be able to stop releasing them uncontrollably."

"That's everything I can suggest, to my knowledge at least." Vinno shrugged, it was hard to know what to suggest without more specifics from the Pokemon center's check up of the Pokemon.

Reina rolled her eyes and walked up to the crying Bulbasaur. She knelt down to pet it while listening to Vinno. She nodded a couple times as she listend to her but her eyes were fixed on the grass type who was rubbing their cheek against Reina's hand and had become completely calm. Once her partner had finished their explanation, Reina stood up and placed her hands on her hips.

"Entonces, what I need to do is... find out if they have a trainer? That's easy enough." She removed her backpack, quickly going through her things until she brought out a Great Ball. "Okay Bulbasaur, if you don't have a trainer, just break out of it okay?" She smiled at the bulb Pokemon and once again knelt down to get the Poke Ball closer. She pressed the blue sphere against the Pokemon slightly and watched as the grass type disappeared into it. The Great Ball began to shake in her hands, each movement making Reina more nervous. "Okay, break out now, you're a wild Pokemon!"

Reina tossed the Poke Ball into the air in panic and watched as it landed on the ground and secured the capture with a click. "Um... they're not like an endangered species, are they?" Reina looked up at Vinno as her Pokedex detailed the information about Reina's recent capture. Bulbasaur, the seed Pokemon..."

As the Pokedex gave out information, Reina stood up and shook her head. "Well now what? Should I keep her? I mean, Bulbasaur are like really rare. I feel a bit guilty? Maybe she doesn't know I captured her."

"...Wait, I'm not sure if that's a good ide-" Before Vinno could finish her sentence after watching the other trainer pull out a ball to "test" whether the Pokemon had a trainer, Reina had already done it. While the ball was shaking and the other girl was eagerly telling the Pokemon to break out if it was a wild one, Vinno walked up and side-eyed her with a sigh.

"Sweet scent is a rather basic move for most grass types, if it can't even control that what makes you think it has the capability to break ou-" Vinno's sentence was cut off again by the click of the ball's capturing. She sighed again and held back her urge to facepalm.

"Well..." Vinno put her hand up to her chin in a thinking stance, despite the seeming panic her companion is going through over capturing the Bulbasaur. "I wouldn't say that they are extremely rare, or that endangered. They were only restricted to being accessed by Pokemon professors in the past, but Unovan institutions have managed to breed them and introduce them to simulated wild environments a few years ago already." She explained to Reina, the power of technology is getting more amazing day to day. "But if you're really unsure, you can always...release?" Vinno shrugged despite knowing that probably was not the best suggestion. They are in a Pokemon Center after all, all the logistical procedures can be done if Reina wants go to back on her 'accidental' capture ASAP.

"Huh...I did say that a Pokemon like this might be a hazard in the wild and to humans though, do you know any professors or the likes? Maybe you can arrange someone else to help you with this, I have a few connections too if it doesn't work out on your end." She suggested.

Reina listened attentively to the girl besides her. She felt a bit embarassed that she didn't know Pokemon like Bulbasaur were more common now. That would explain Naka having a Swampert also and acting so casual about it. Was her nation so behind everyone else on that matter? Still, the last comment gave her an idea.

"I know a professor back home, but we might not need to go that far. I'm sure Hau knows the professor of Alola and maybe he can help out!" Reina smiled and looked at the Great Ball in her hand with the seed Pokemon sleeping peacefully inside. "But, if she wanted to break out, she would have right?" Doubt was on her face as she shrunk the sphere and placed it in her bag. "Let's find Hau first."

After a short trip back up to that one place where Hau and his grandad live, the duo found themselves walking up to Hala. The old man seemed full of energy despite his age as he patted his belly. "Well, you went to train with Hau and came back with someone else. Ha! That's Alola for you, friends everywhere you go."

Reina smiled and stopped a few steps in front of Hala. "Sir, this is Vinno, Vinno, this is the former kahuna, Hala, Hau's grandfather and currently my master." Reina placed her hands behind her back, looking more humble than confident.

Hala offered Vinno a handshake and then let out a hearty laugh. "What can I do for you two? Must be important for Reina to not be practicing her Z-move."

Reina laughed nervously, "You see, I caught a Bulbasaur by accident. I was testing if it had a trainer and then when it went into the Poke Ball, I told it to break out but she didn't. So, now I feel guilty? But she hasn't tried to escape. I don't know if I should release her?"

Hala just chuckled and patted Reina on the shoulder. "The fact taht you care shows enough. If that Bulbasaur wanted to leave, it would. I recommend spend some time with it and then make that big decision." Hala looked over at Vinno. "Feel free to stick around, we got free rooms and by the look of that Rotom, I say you're sticking around for a while? Ha! Dinner at sundown, make sure to bring your Pokemon with you, they'll have fun, I promise."

Reina bowed as her current master walked away before turning to Vinno with a smile. "So, you're staying?"

"Ah, right, you were with the Melemele Kahuna before." Vinno replied, remembering their previous encounter with Hau. "I'm sure there are people on the island who knows how to handle this better." She added while Reina led the two to meet with the island's former Kahuna.

Wisdom was something that came with age, as a rule of thumb, which was probably why Hala seemed much more helpful than Vinno when it comes to advising Reina on the situation with Bulbasaur. "Pleasure to meet you, and very sound advice, sir." She shook the former Kahhna's hand and nodded gently. "That Bulbasaur seems to be inexperienced in using moves, so even if Reina had released it, it would probably still need to be managed by someone else." Vinno added. "So I do agree that it would be best for her to keep it for now, and see how things work out."

Vinno smiled politely at Hala's offer, it was always a bit awkward to explain her profession with older people, even if they were jovial. "And yes, I would be staying in Alola. I'm a...Pokemon battle theorist of some sort. My main goal here is covering the Alola contest circuits." She explained. "I have been staying at the Hano Grand Resort since I came to the region, I have a flying Pokemon to travel between the islands if need be."

When Reina asked her the same question enthusiastically, Vinno's smile turned a bit awkward with all the hospitality going on, she felt a bit overwhelmed. "But of course, I won't oppose staying on Melemele for the time being, there is still time before the contest circuits begin after all."

"Alright! We can be vecinos." Reina placed her hands on her hips. "Now I'm feeling more motivated to train. Have to show Bulbasaur what she's getting into, huh?" She sighed and looked towards the horizon, covering the sun with her hand over her eyes. "You mentioned the conests circuits. I know a thing or two about putting on a show, comes with the professional wrestler hobby, but I've never considered events like those. Maybe one day, right now, I need to focus on my training."

Reina turned to face the Hawlucha checking his wings. "Me and Blue Demon are going to keep at it, you're welcome to join. If not, we can meet up here at sundown."

Soon, a few hours later, Reina sat on the ground, her breathing heavy and her hand cleaning the sweat off her face. She gave the Hawlucha next to her a thumbs up and began to stand up. Despite training for hours, Blue Demon continued to practice his stand, his serious face watching the last of the sun disappear beyond the sea. The Metztlian trainer headed to the house that would be her home for the next couple of days. After a quick shower and change of none sweaty clothes, Reina was once again outside.

It seemed Hau and family had gotten a bit carried away. There was a big table stretched out, full of food and drinks with people from town brining more and more. It seemed Blue Demon had fans as little kids gathered around and began to mimic his movements. Other fighting Pokemon stood around, helping move chairs and the elders who walked too slow. Reina took a sit, quickly joined by Hau on her left side, but before the kahuna could spark up a conversation with her, to his disapointment, Reina stood up and waved.

"Vinno! Over here! Save you a seat!"

It seems like Reina was going to get back to her training for the time being, before the night's events begin. "Mhm. I should still shoot a few shorts to put up on the channel...I have to keep the uploads consistent." Vinno didn't want to bother the other trainer's training too much either, she wasn't of much help when it came to Reina's Z-move training after all, she only knew about those things in theory rather than practice. For a while, Vinno returned to the streets of the city and beaches full of tourists with her Rotom drone.

"And these are pyukumuku, they are interesting Pokemon, they don't attack, but have a myriad of support moves to pick from, and can even use their ability innards out and unaware to catch your opponents off guard." The Rotom drone was flashing in 'streaming mode' as Vinno picked up one of Alola's very own beach cucumbers from the ground and showed it to the camera. "Just make sure to never let them get hit by moves like taunt, perhaps a mental herb would be a good choice for an item if you are a new trainer who don't have access to items like leftovers yet." She held up the Pokemon and gently tossed it back into the water.

......

"Oh. Hello. Thanks for that." When evening came Vinno returned to the place where they were formerly and took the seat Reina had saved her, still a bit formal and apprehensive. "I didn't expect to be invited to an event like this, but thanks for the offer anyhow." She said.

There was something on Vinno's mind though, Reina had said she was practicing Z-moves in Alola, but that was a short goal, the Z-moves must be for some purpose. "So...why do you want to master Z-moves? I mean, I know you're a trainer, but what types of battles do you typically do, and what are you planning to do with the Z-moves?" She asked the other girl casually. "I've seen a lot of types of battlers in my days, maybe I have some advice for you, who knows."

"Z-moves? I'm just following instructions. If my master says this is good training for me, then I will do it." Reina reached over for a glass of lemonade. "What type of trainer I am? I just wanted to learn more. I want to learn my place in the world, being a trainer is a great way to move around and get experience in all sorts of things. But I guess I'm taking the gym challenge too seriously lately, maybe I'm just tired of losing."

She took a long drink from her beverage and set it down with a satisfied sigh. "Wow that is delicious! But yes..." She turned to face Vinno once more, "Lately losing just feels, I don't know, heavier? Like, I feel stuck, you know? I got three badges in Kanto and couldn't go any further. Then the same thing happened in Hoenn and now, in Johto, I couldn't beat Chuck, that means I'm stuck at three badges...again. I faced the dragon gym leader, Clair. She destroyed me and my dragon. You haven't met her, but I have a beautiful Dragonair. Back where I'm from, you NEED to be able to train a dragon, it's a must for trainers. So, it broke our heart when we faced an actual dragon tamer and we didn't even touch them. Since then, losing has been a lot more scary. I can't even focus on a battle anymore."
