In honesty though, does Kepheus have authority over the auxiliaries right now? Or are they expected to just straggle along without any sense of leadership?

I really don't see the point in a de facto leader in such a short term situation. They were left with an order to gather up the wounded and move forward a short distance. Should you find it necessary to reiterate those orders as Kepheus, feel free but I think mostly everyone gets the points.
