Hmm... Shade is currently affiliated with the American military, yes? I don't think it'd make sense for him to be a part of a group with Serena or Sago. I'm not the greatest source of ideas, but maybe Shade can arrive on the scene when stuff begins to go awry at the conference. And by awry, I don't mean Reaper.

Unfortunately, I can't think of any reason for Shade to coincidentally lounge around the area from the start, cause looking at Shade, he sounds like a busy man, fighting omnics and stuff. :3c Although it is set in America, and if you opt to be posted as part of security for this high profile medical conference or just happen to have settled some omnics dispute nearby, I think him being there from the beginning is possible. Up to you.

We could totally do a "Serena met Bird by accident". Perhaps they literally ran into each other and Bird got a dent somewhere from falling over, which Serena helped her get fixed? Since Bird is pretty much without enough money to get herself fixed at this point...

Otherwise, you could have him spot the Reaper kill some security guards(which I'm about to do right now) in a discrete place outside the conference centre. I'm going to do that in a bit too after a reply from Noivian.

Trying to figure out how to get Shade in on this.
Him being a security guard would make sense, seeing as this is a high-profile member of society. If the military was involved, it would make sense for Shade to be there.
I can also see Shade simply being in the conference for the sake of seeing an old Overwatch buddy, though I'm not sure if the two would have gotten along a ton, especially given that they were separated (seeing as how Shade was in Blackwatch.)

being a bodyguard could work for your character, or perhaps you were in the area when the fight broke out? Perhaps you noticed some people in the rooftops and it gave you cause to pay the good doctor a visit.

If you want Shade to spot them, he should at least be on a roof of a building adjacent or a block down from the conference centre, cause I don't think he'll be able to see them if he was right beside the conference centre at the ground floor, they'd be out of the line of sight I imagine, cause the conference centre would be pretty large to handle the large capacity of the conference I'd planned.

I have another idea as to why Shade would be there. It's a medical conference, not really with any attending consulates or political authorities, so the military aren't acting as security guards. There could be, however, a military doctor or a representative, some high-ranking person with some authority over the medical personnel in the army(I don't know the military well enough to know what the name of their position would be), who would be attending the conference and thus requiring a small military escort(and by small, I mean like two people, cause bringing a large team of military people to escort you to a conference that already has a security team would be too intimidating and imposing on the fault of the military). Since the military escort would be small, the military would need to send people in who are especially qualified, particularly Shade. I mean, that's just my idea, though.

i got the dance, not the skin. I save up thousands of credits so that when an event comes, I'm ready. I bought the Mercy dance, a voiceline or two, the Mei dance, and the Genji dance

I had about 5k coins when we started, so I bought a few voice lines but I'm going to wait 'till near the end to get those sweet skins. The only ones I really want anyway are the Genji and Symmetra ones, but the others still look bomb as hell.
Speaking of which, what do you guys think of Zarya's new skin? From what I've seen people either hate it or absolutely love it with no in between. I personally think she looks like a rooster and it's kinda dumb, though I can see why people like it.
