One Thousand Club
Hopefield.

On name and first impressions alone, the town may seem like it's the ideal slice of Americana. White picket fences, an ice cream parlor filled with local teenagers and a movie drive-in still open for business

Beneath the surface however, the town has a corrupt and seedy underbelly. Smugglers, swindlers and ner' do wells have their own agendas and if you care to look a little harder, you'll see that something isn't quite right in Hopefield.

The average citizen may even acknowledge it, every town has its share of mystery and urban legend after all, but there's something beneath Hopefield's facade that is getting harder to ignore.

Hauntings, spectres in the night, creatures in the woods and unexplained disappearances have almost become a fact of life in Hopefield.

Crissy Porter; journalist, author, would-be amateur detective and Hopefield native has a keener interest in these stories than most. A sceptic of anything remotely paranormal, she has now taken matters into her own hands and decided to get to the bottom of the Hopefield Mysteries.

Despite the abundance of villains, ghosts, creatures and the occassional old man in a Halloween costume, this is a lighthearted rp, in the vein of the old Hardy Boys or Nancy Drew books.

I'm looking for players to fill other parts with me. Any and all character ideas are welcome but I'd be particularly interested in applications for a Private Eye, Paranormal Researcher, Cop or even Crissy's kid.

I'd be a reasonably literate rider and would prefer applications to be of that standard with decent spelling and grammar.

Hopefully this gets some interest as I think the setting has a lot of potential.

Looks interesting! I'm feeling a Buffy/Supernatural vibe here too. Would you be interested in players being villains or supernatural creatures, or are you looking at that being mostly an NPC thing?

Mostly an NPC thing. The protagonists are "normal" people for the most part.

Who are you thinking of playing?

Ive got a couple ideas Im tossing around. The most Vanilla option but one I think Id play best would be the son of someone putside the town who owns quite a bit of land for something in the vein of ranching, oil, or farming. The kind of hometown hero that gets caught up in it all and tries to do the right thing.

If I want to spice it up..... Im gonna make a drifter style character who has seen a thing or two. Might base him off of turn of the century folk lore and southern gothic elements.

The last idea I have would be a young doctor who is a bit of a merger of the last two. He’d have come from one of the towns more well off families and had experienced weird things. But he left for school. After finishing med school he would have worked at a hospital for the insane as a physician, but whilst there he noticed some things about the inmates stories. But an ailing parent forced him to return home and work as the new town doctor. But whilst there, he feels the need to investigate. And maybe he did drift a bit as a teen before going to school hoping to be a musician or something.

If the other character used are a bit older like in their late 20’s or early 30’s I might use him
