The One and Only
In the year 2043 an alien structure is detected orbiting Pluto, some sort of massive station. The discovery amazed the scientific community and NASA teamed up with several other countries to explore the station. After several probes were sent to investigate, a manned mission, known as the Argo, is sent to document the craft. 6 years later the crew of the Argo, 12 astronauts from around the world, arrived at the colossal station, making it inside. What happened within the station is largely unknown, all that is known is that a huge energy pulse was emitted by the station, so complex that no instruments could pick it up. The pulse moved through the solar system harmlessly having only one target, Pluto itself. The planetoid split in half down the middle and generating a worm hole between the two halves. From that point on Mission control was unable to contact the crew of the Argo and could only watch with the few instruments they had available.
Two weeks passed before anything was detected. At first only a small object could be detected, emerging from the wormhole. Though before any investigations could be made it was followed by dozens more. Within minutes a dozen star destroyers descended upon every major city on earth, landing millions of storm troopers on the planets surface. It seems that galaxy wasn't all that far away after all. Though the people of Earth weren't willing to simply give in. The use of gunpowder was a major objective, catching many of the Imperial forces by surprise as they were suddenly faced with foreign weapons that could fire much faster than the eye could see. The vehicles and aircraft of the Imperial forces too met their match as their shields were tailored to absorbing and deflecting energy based weapons. It seemed that the two sides were on even footing though the Empire had many more resources at their disposal, the fall of Earth was inevitable.
This RP will take place in a world where the Star Wars franchise never existed and will take part in the year 10 BBY on the Star Wars time line, 9 years after order 66 and the subsequent rise of the Empire. The Empire have been drawn to the system chasing a rebel ship carrying the stolen plans of the Death Star which has taken refuge on Earth. The Empire is desperate to recover the plans, deciding the best way to do it is to enslave and conquer the entire planet. Our characters will be people all drawn to a certain location where they will learn the true origins of Earth and be offered a chance to save it.
