Under a new name, they managed to thrive there and even make a fortune for nine years, until they once again got into trouble, learning that the explosive that nearly killed the couple was set off by a Spanish assassin attempting to take revenge on James, who had apparently killed his brother in a conflict near the former's home, along with the rest of the French for killing his people.

Why His Crew Marooned Him: Well, on one particular journey, The Sea Serpent passed through a specific cove that was inhabited by Sirens. After steering the ship away, and of course, beating or locking away some of his crew, and sailing away from the beautiful singing and attractive bodies and visions of the Sirens and slaying many before returning to the ship with plunder, the crew of The Serpent turned on him. They mutinied, and they overpowered him, sending him to the island, attempting to find the cove once more. For this have they been called the Blind Crew. They also didn't strip him from his weapons; they're not very bright..

Bio: Luciano was born to a poor Spanish family. Both his parents died of disease when he was six, leaving him on the streets. He was taken in by a local thief, who went by Canalla. Canalla taught Luciano how to live on the streets when you have no money. Mainly by stealing, and pick pocketing. He caught on quick, and soon was able to make a living on his own. His life was full of thievery and other questionable means to make money. But this couldn't be a backstory without some tragedy in it. When Luciano was around 13 years old, he decided to leave Canalla and live on his own. But Luciano was making lots of money for Canalla, and he couldn't just let him walk away like that. Canalla had considerable influence in the city's underground population, and got some thugs to "convince" Luciano to stay. So he stayed, but their relationship was not one of master and disciple anymore, but master and slave. Months pass, and Luciano is now giving Canalla all the money he's making, and barely gets any food in return. He is fed up with this, and musters up some courage to fix this. He grabs a knife that he had kept hidden on his body, and while Canalla wasn't looking, he stabs him in the back of the head, killing him. This upsets the underground population, and now he has people after him, although they only knew him by name. He was able to easily dodge them by just moving to another district and calling himself Roberto. One day, when he was 19, he was caught robbing a very wealthy and influential family's house. He was able to get away with a considerable amount of loot, but now they had the whole city looking for him. He had a pretty big bounty on his head, and the city knew his face. Needing to get away, he decided to stow away on the nearest ship, as they can get him further away faster than walking. That ship happened to be a pirate ship. He did manage to stay hidden for a little while. But the ship was hit with a pretty rough storm, and his hurling was audible throughout the whole ship. But instead of tossing him into the sea, they had him join their crew. First they had him cleaning, but after a few months, he was deemed the lookout. He had difficulty with the pirates, as most of them only spoke English. There was one pirate though who spoke a little Spanish, and tried to help Luciano learn English. After some difficulty, he was able to speak English fluently. So a year of pirating was had. He actually didn't mind being a pirate, although he did miss being primarily a land dweller.

Either way, Pi grew used to this life, unbeknownst a pirate, and gradually accepted his fate...only to be shipwrecked! He floated unconsciously among some debris that took him to the island, a lone survivor.)
