Realistic or Modern Mutant Academy

(It said I double posted, so I edited it to say 'sorry I double posted', but when I did. It just deleted the whole thing. I don't know. I hope you can read this post.)

Her lips buzzed from the recent, brief contact, parted slightly open in a mix of confusion, surprise, anger and slight happiness. Why had he left her? Why did he kiss her? Why would he say he liked being with her and then immediately leave? Why was he such an ass as to do the exact opposite of what she asked? After a moment of stunned silence, Scarlett groaned and ran her fingers through her hair, glad at least in one respect that she no longer had to change her appearance to disguise herself amongst the general public.

She wasn't wanted. She guessed she should have felt some kind of relief, that she was free and that she had no more reason to be paranoid about every shadow, but she wasn't. She just felt unimportant. For the first time in her life, she had been given the chance to help someone and that people wanted her around. Even if it was a terrorist organization with an unknown secret power mutant at their disposal.

Scarlett turned around to look up at the Mutant Academy of which she had once been ready to call her home. It didn't resemble anything now but a terrible battleground of burned debris, dead bodies, and various mutant ammunition which had managed to miss it's mark. Without thinking, her feet carried her forward as she gazed in horror at the complete carnage that had been caused, that fateful night. All of it, all of the blood and destruction was made just to find a single teenager with two extraordinary powers, not just one power.

Jacob hurried down the busy streets of Johanessburg, South Africa, Accordibng the news this wasnt exactly a safe place. He wondered if he should teleport to somewhere else in Africa. After turning off the main crowded street he decided better of it, and that he himself, well the future him, probably knew that he would teleport here. As he passed the busy stores and people he spotted a few suspicious looking men all wearing black suits, he realised that one of them was just, 10 minutes ago at the airport in India. He quickly rushed into a store, they hadnt seen him. He peaked out of the supermarket he had just dashed into, they were just standing on the corner of the street, looking around, He wanted to hear what they were saying, get a closer look. He strained his ears, maybe he would have super hearing, if he really did have all these powers like his future self had told him. He couldnt hear anything, only the busy streets of Johanessburg.

He noticed that on the corner near them was a sort of milk bar stand, After contemplating for about a minute he appeared right behind the stand, only a few metres away from where the men were standing, and talking.

"-here" He heard one of the men say, obviously just ending a sentence.

"Ok, but why couldnt-" The noises of the busy street made it to hard to hear the man "in india"

"Apparently, according to.. The boss.. Someone pulled him out of our graps a-" One of the other men quickly cut in "Stop, im picking up something" Jacob held his breath, had they spotted him?

He decided not to take any more chances and he appeared back down the other end of the street and quickly crossed the road and hopped teleported into the midst of a crowded bus, a few people jumped back by surprise when he appeared, but no one was freaking out, afterall Mutants were reasonably known and accepted in most societies.

A rat scuttled through the debris of the school to her left and Scarlett was barely able to keep in a terrified scream, jumping up around a foot in the air. The silence of the area seemed to honour the dead, absent of all but the crackles of dying flames and the wind whistling softly through the trees planted on the estate. She wasn't at all surprised that there were no news crews surrounding every inch of the area, gossiping for the latest feed about the recent, completely devastating attack on the mutant school. Obviously, the President had hushed it up rather well.

Mr. Lencher would have had a hand in it as well, if he was still alive. The last she remembered seeing of the academy's principal was when he was battling the mysterious mutant and telling them to get out of there as soon as possible. The great green beast of a man had managed to survive against the powered mutant once before, but Scarlett wasn't entirely sure if he could do so a second time. Jacob had almost been killed during his interaction with him, and he had the greatest two powers for escapism.

It was incredibly sobering to be the only person left, walking through harrowed halls that should have a roof and walls, smelling the stench of the flames when now non-existent windows should have been closed. She remembered the dragon of fire which had flown across the school, burning everything that wasn't on it's side. The horned mutant with the tail that she had burned as they tried to find safety from the carnage outside. The students of her school had been given no chance to prepare themselves.

Battle was so suddenly thrown upon them after only four days at a new school. Most of them would have absolutely no knowledge about how to defend themselves, especially not against experienced fighters. If they hadn't been able to get away, then they would be lying dead on the ground somewhere. For some unknown reason, Scarlett was completely certain that, had Jacob currently been by her side at that exact moment, then he would have felt an over-whelming sensation of guilt and grief. Even though she knew that she had nothing to do with this, that the organization had actually never been after her at all, she felt somewhat the same about it all.

There was a groan to her left and Scarlett whirled around just in time to see one of the attacking mutants from the night before begin to advance towards her. He was badly injured, one arm almost missing and there appeared to be a huge gash on the side of his forehead, obscuring his vision in his left eye. Thorns were lodged in his body but Scarlett remembered what his power from the night before had been. To throw those thorns at people with amazing accuracy. The man's mouth opened as he tried to moan at her that she was dead meat, or that the school had deserved everything it got, or something along those lines.

It didn't really matter either way, Scarlett's attention was brought to another event when he suddenly threw one of his thorns and it missed the top of her head by a hair's breadth. She felt the breath leave her in her shock, the lengths of her arms flared up in flames, and in an act that she had never completed before, she shot a haze of fire at the man. It consumed his entire body and the mutant screamed in utter agony before stumbling away from her as fast as she could. Scarlett could do nothing more than simply stand there and stare at the power which had surfaced in a time of need. A power which promised something very great to come.

Ms. dark was in her office. Dealing with funerals, missing people , fires and the other students. She had called Nathan a thousand times, she felt guilty for asking Hope to fight. Now she dissapeared and Ms. Dark was guilty. She knew the F.O.H took her and she was in danger.

" Back to work"

Jacob got off the bus a few stops down the road, where to go? He needed money hmmm. He walked arond Johanessburg for a little bit looking for a particular building, a bank. "Hi, do you know where the nearest bank is?" He asked a woman. "Just there" She pointed down the road at a rather large stone building that had big golden colored letters that read "Johannesburg bank". "Thanks" He replied and then once out of sight of the woman he teleported directly to the entrance of the bank, Luckily no one seemd to notice. He had to find out what the bank vault looked like, and he highly doubted that it would happen to be open. He walked off into the lobby of the bank. Suddenly he felt a strange tingling sensation, He looked down at where his feet should of been, but they werent, he raised his arms to eye level, but he couldnt see them, he could feel them but not see them. Had he just accidently gone invisible?

He decided to take advantage of his new found 3rd power. He walked over to a dark blue door where a sign read "Staff only". He cracked it open a tiny bit so he could see the floor and a bit of the wall and then he teleported the two feet without having to open the door and draw attention. He appeared at the end of the hall, to his left was the vault, it was a large stainless steal square vault that probably contained millions of.. of whatever currency South Africa used. Very surprisingly the vault was open, He teleported straight into the vault past a guard who fortunately wasnt even looking at the vault and was instead reading a newspaper. He examined the vault, the steel walls, the carts of money. It would be useful to come back here every now and then. He reached out to grab a large carton of 200 rand bills. Suddenly his arm only for a moment bacme visible and then within a second became invisible again. He had to get as much as he could and fat, but where would he store it for now?

A drop of blood spilt from her nose as Scarlett stared at her hands, breathing quiet and slightly laboured as she tried to understand what she had just done. In her entire life, all she had ever been able to do with her powers were creating balls of flames that were the size of a candle, and to extinguish the smallest fires. Suddenly, when she was attacked, alone, she managed to set a person on fire by shooting her dangerous element straight out of her hands. The screaming mutant was out of ear shot now but the scent of his burning flesh seemed to still be present in the air.

She didn't feel guilty. How could she? The mutant had just tried to kill her and if she hadn't done anything in response, she would currently be dead as well. It was all self-defense. At the moment, all she could manage to feel was simple astonishment. She was able to do something. She had a power that could really be used for the defense. It was all that she'd ever wanted, to be able to expand and gain better control over her power. She grinned and extinguished the flames covering her arms. She had the chance to protect herself now.

Mutant Academy would no longer be a safe haven to protect her. With the walls crumbling down and the teachers probably all missing or dead, Scarlett knew that she couldn't stay there anymore. Jacob had instructed her stay there to remain safe but there were two reasons why she couldn't do that. One, there was literally no academy anymore. Two, if he didn't do what she wanted, then she wouldn't have to do what he wanted. Scarlett glanced around at her surroundings before pulling her jacket closer around herself, and then continuing to back out of the grounds the way that she came.

New York City was the closest destination but she knew exactly where she had to go. The last place where she had known her family to be staying. Hopefully, they would still be there. It was about time she returned home.

There was fire, a great spiraling ring that was atleast 50 feet high and 30 feet in diameter. Someone, a red haired girl, stood in the middle of it with her hands raised high, it seemed like she was controlling it, the way it flowed around here. On the other side of the great hall was the all to familiar Weapon X. He's hands seemed to be glowing, like some form of energy was pulsing through them, the color was unclear but Jacob suspected it might be green. Suddenly Weapon X shot out his hands and a flow of green almost water like substance shot towards the red haired girl, for some reason Jacob couldnt quite make out her face through the fire, but he was almost certain he knew who it was anyway.

At the same moment the red haired fire wielder moved both her hands, almost like it was a heavy wait to do so, down towards Weapon X, The huge ring of fire seemed to implode on itself right into the palms of the girls hands before a blinding explosion of fire burst out towards Weapon X.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHH" Jacob screamed as he sat bolt upright in the old and musty hotel he had chosen to spend the night in. He's vision became blurry as sweat dropped off his forehead. He could feel water all over him, or rather he could feel the sweat all over him, soaking his shirt, hair and most of his skin. It was just a dream.. But it had been so real, he could feel the heat, feel the fear and the dream burned in his mind as if he had just teleported away from it a few seconds ago.

The sounds of the busy streets of Johannesburg drifted into his tiny hotel room, which just so happened to be filled with over eight hundred thousand dollars worth of the South African currency called Rand. All last night Jacob had been tempted to hide it in his home in Las Vegas, but his future self had given him very specific instructions, STAY in Africa, so that was exactly what he was going to do or try to do atleast.

Scarlett sniffled and rose a cold hand up to touch her bright red nose, the simple touch sending frozen shivers down her spine. Her clothes were stiff and slightly covered with frost, causing her to glare remorsefully at the broken pile of sticks close beside her. Birds cawed in the trees of the woods above her and she remembered now why she hated sleeping outside so much. No matter how powerful she made her fires, they never lasted throughout the night. She always forgot to wake up at one time during the blackness and to revitalize it. She was continually left to freeze, with no blankets and only the clothes on her back. Stifling a yawn, she tapped the dying embers hidden beneath the ash and an instant fire was illuminated. She shivered for a moment and enjoyed the refreshing wave of heat that drove over her, before stretching her limbs closer towards it so she could warm herself up. It was going to be a very long day ahead.

She wasn't stupid. Technically she was in New York City but she wasn't actually. Sleeping in Central Park would only present her with an endless supply of problems, and she didn't have enough money to stay in even the worst hotel for the night. All of that had been used when she was trying to look after Jacob, or she had accidentally left it somewhere. If she had powers like Jacob, then maybe she would've been able to sleep somewhere for free that night, but at the moment, she was simply comfortable with discomfort. Closer to Manhattan than to what remained of Mutant Academy, Scarlett had decided to bunk down in a random park during the night. She had been safe enough, just exposed to the wind and the cold. It didn't matter though. One night out in what she was used to, was worth it if she wanted to get to her destination.

Home. Scarlett had decided last night that she was going to try and to get back home, back to where her parents now lived. She hadn't been back in years, but the circumstances had certainly changed for her. She was all alone in the world, was rediscovering her great power and wanted nothing more than to just be a normal girl again and forget about everything that had happened to her. For so long, she had tried to run away from her past, but after all, maybe that was she needed to do now. The exact opposite. She needed to go back. Not to when she burned down the house and then ran away from shame. But when times had been happier and she had never been forced to be scared for her life, she was never tricked into believing that people wanted her head. It was possibly a very long shot. She didn't even know if they wanted her back, if they wanted to see her again. But Scarlett had no where else to go now. This was quite possibly one of her last chances at life. Even in the morning, she was certain that this was what she needed to do.

The sound of hurried footsteps echoed throughout the hallway as Jacob listened from his room. He pressed his ear against the door, straining to hear any sound or make out the muffled voices that drifted down the hallway.

"Let go of me Tom" A woman yelled, she sounded distressed.

"You owe me that-" Jacob couldnt quite make out the rest of what the man yelled.

"Ill try and-" The woman's voice suddenly stopped and he heard her groan in pain.

That was enough to make Jacob intervene. He pushed open the door and a little way down the hallway he saw a woman with her hand over her head on the ground and rather buff looking African man standing above her with his fists curled up into balls.

"Hey, you leave her alone" Jacob yelled walking towards him, A sudden stroke of courage had come over him.

"Whatta you gonna do about it?" The man had a rather thick African accent and started walk towards Jacob, stepping over the woman.

Jacob broke into a run charging at the man. Jacob felt a fist connect with his shoulder as they appeared in the middle of a rather busy and crowded street, Broadway, New York.

"What the-" The man started to say before Jacob appeared back in the hotel hallway in South Africa. He moved over towards the woman who had now stood up and was staring at him with wide eyes and an open mouth.

"Er, are you ok?" Jacob asked her

"Y-yeah, fine, a-are you a-" The woman replied in a sort of stiff and shocked voice.

"Mutant? Yes i am" He replied with a sense of pride.

"Well.. thanks" The woman almost ran off around a corner, it seemed like she was more scared of him then the man that had just hit her.

He could be anywhere, Scarlett thought to herself bitterly as she chewed down on a stringy piece of jerky, gaze distant and unfocused as she spent the early morning simply preparing herself for the day ahead. I don't think he ended up actually telling me where he was going to get off to. What if I needed to find him again? It's not exactly like I could just go around town hanging up posters that read, 'Have You Seen This Boy? Tell him to find Scarlett if you do.' All he told me before he disappeared again was he saw the future or something, but without interacting with another powerful mutant, that was a load of bulls crap... If only he hadn't left. I think I would've liked it better. Not being alone again.

Ever since her wits had returned to her that morning, she hadn't been able to keep her thoughts off wondering about what had happened to Jacob. With the help of her blazing fire, she had been able to turn her worries from her limbs and heart freezing off, she was given the chance to think about something different. Unfortunately, it would seem that she had little choice in that either. Scarlett was still disappointed in him, but she couldn't help but worry about him. He had been her friend once, before he left her with a simple kiss, and she still cared about him. If she saw him again, she wasn't exactly sure how she would act. Boys were confusing, and has her father always told her, she was better off without them. It was just that, now that she was alone, a little part of her wanted him to come back.

With one final stretch, Scarlett climbed up to her feet and instantly willed out the fire before momentarily regretting the loss of warmth and heat that had been radiating from it. However, she knew that she couldn't just stay there forever. Life would never move on then. Nothing would ever happen except that she would slowly freeze to death with a piece of jerky stuck between her teeth. Scarlett sighed, pulled her jacket hood up atop her head and started out towards the closest road, hoping to find a bicycle that she could steal along the way. Life had definitely changed her in those past few days. With danger knocking at her door every moment, being the goody-good girl just wouldn't keep her alive. Even if no one was actually after her, she had been forced to change her personality. It didn't mean that sometimes she feel asleep feeling guilty at night.

TIME SKIP (1 Week Later)

Somewhere in Canada

Jacob appeared in a flurry of snow at a large, what looked like abandoned concrete water reservoir. This is where the mysterious phone call had told him Scarlett was, They had told him that he had to trade himself for her or they would murder her. Of course, he had another plan, rescue her and then get out of there, He knew that things would probably not go down like he wanted them to, but he had to try. He wade through the deep snow towards the edge of the concrete reservoir. There was no sign of any building where they might have their headquarters, so he assumed it was either underground or just a meeting place where they could take him. Even though he said that he wouldn't show up unless he saw Scarlett first. He knew that he could use himself as a bluff as he could tell that he was extremely important and valuable to them.

He looked down into the depths of the empty reservoir, to his left was a wall that stopped the other half of the reservoir from spilling its vast amount of water into the empty half. He noticed at the bottom was a small sewer hole, which had metal lid on it, lying next to it, As if someone had purposely removed it. He teleported down next to hole, it was just the right size for him to fit in. Surprisingly it was also clean for a sewer hole, He assumed that these people, whoever they were, had cleaned it, probably not wanting to deter him from going on further but also wanting him to follow their path.

He half reluctantly, climbed into the whole on his stomach, He could feel water on his elbows as he crawled through the sewer that smelled of damp mould.

Vaffanculo!” Scarlett shouted at the FOH guard who had simply passed by her dank dungeon to tell her that her ‘little boy hero’ had arrived to ‘save her’. The man only laughed, a great rumbling noise that stemmed from deep inside his fat belly, before making a kissing noise at her and walking off. With a set of magical bars separating the pair, she had no choice but to simply glare in response. There was no doubt however, that when the man disappeared out of sight she felt an over-whelming sense of relief. It wasn’t the first conversation she had had that week since her capture, but it was by far the most pleasant. The flame-haired girl winced as she drew her thin blanket closer around her shoulders, a possible cracked rib in her side desperately protesting against the movement. I don’t know where he is. I don’t know where Jacob is.

Another belief, and another failure. She had trusted the world when it told her that she was completely safe if she didn’t stay with Jacob. That no one wanted her, and no one cared for her. If past experiences proved true, she should have known that it was all wrong. Not even two days after she had been abandoned by Jacob, the FOH had come looking for her. She was right that no one cared for her specifically. No, all they wanted was the whereabouts of Jacob. She was in danger again and it wasn’t even because of her. At first, Scarlett had thought she would be hurt that all she was, was a means to an end. She couldn’t though, because she was surrounded by scary people. People who would do anything to her to make sure that they got what they wanted. Where is Jacob? Tell me where Jacob is and we won’t hurt you anymore. Where is he, Scarlett? WHERE IS JACOB?

The cold of the room seemed to seep deep into her very bones, freezing her core as her lips slowly turned blue. For a thousand times that day alone, she had tried to create at least a small little flame to keep her warm. However, as it would prove to turn out, the room was far too powerful for her. Just being there dampened her magical abilities, like someone poured water all over her. It was affecting not only her mutant strength, but also her physical and mental esteem. Even though she had been praying for Jacob not to come those past few days, she couldn’t help but think to thank him. She wouldn’t have been able to last it all much longer. The beatings, the interrogations and the hold on her mutant abilities. She was aching all over. I don’t know where he is. Please, I don’t know where he is.

A bright flash of light appeared in her peripheral vision and for a moment, Scarlett thought that she had finally been victorious, that she had managed to create fire. However, as it only began to grow larger and larger, her hopes diminished and she raised her weary head up to see who had arrived next. Four white lab coats, a business suit and three guards. A large escort, of which she was incredibly thankful Weapon X was not there. She assumed that they had come to set her free, now that they had their prized possession coming to get her. She rose her head high, determined not to show fear. Determined that when she finally saw Jacob again, she would come up with a plan to get both of them out alive. There was no way in hell that she was letting the organization get exactly what they wanted. Her breath caught in her chest however, when she was pulled down the wrong corridor.

“What are you doing? Jacob’s here. He’s here!” Scarlett told them frantically, the pain of her injuries flaring up again. Were they going against their word? Were they going to keep both of them? No, she couldn’t stay. She couldn’t stay there one more night. And if they got Jacob… the world would be ruined. “You have to take me to see him. What are you doing!?”

“A change of plans.” The man in the business suit told her, voice professional and curt. “We’re not taking you to see him.”

“And why not?” Scarlett demanded, her fear turning into defensive anger.

“Because your tests came back.” The man replied. “We’re breaking the deal. FOH has decided to keep both you and Mr. Jacob. Turns out that you’re quite valuable as well. Not just for information.” Breaking his calm façade, he reached over and squeezed a cut on her arm. Scarlett screamed in pain, arms flaring up in furious flame before her mutant powers were doused again with magic handcuffs.

Hope stood quietly in the front of her brother's house. She was a bit nervous, she had not seen her brother in a long time she only came to London to ask him a giant favor that could risk their lives but it was worth it. The tracking device stopped working a week ago and Hope had given up trying to get to Jacob she had another mission now and no one knew about it except for her.

Hope saw her brother arriving home and they both stared at each other for A second until they hugged each other as hard as they could. Richard was exited to see his sister again after all that time.

"I can't believe you are here! I missed you so much!" Richard exclaimed.

"Me too but no time for that, I have a plan against the agency and I need your help"

Richard opened his eyes widely and stopped hugging Hope, he had not forgotten about the agency and was ready to do anything against them.

"Alright, what is your plan?"

" I am working for them again so I will make you look different with some make up and make the others think you are a new mutant for the machine, when they leave us alone in there we destroy it"

"Why do you need me?"

"Richard, we created it, we destroy it"

"I have a wig let me go get it and then we can go"

"Cool, let me call Jared so he can teleport us"
