Hey you, hope you're happy up there. <3
MASS DECEPTION.
INTEREST CHECK
INTRODUCTION.“Team I-A Alpha come in. Team I-A Alpha, respond to coms!”
A tall, blonde male stood at the head of the table, fingers gripping its edge until his knuckles were white. His face marred by a permanent scowl, the man leaned forward, eyes trained on the giant screen on the other end of the room, The screen had long since gone black, the team’s body cameras having been damaged by the first volley of fire. Still, the man’s piercing gaze didn’t waver as he waited for a voice to come through the speakers. Any voice. There was a burst of static, then-
“-nyone on this frequency?! Hello?!” The voice crackled over the speakers, loud and panicked.
The man at the head of the table leaned forward, staring at the black screen as if he could turn it back on through sheer force of will. “Transmission confirmed. What are your coordinates?”
There was a moment of silence, and a pang of fear shot through the man’s stomach before the voice crackled back over the line. “HQ! That you, Rider, sir? This is team I-A Alpha. Requesting immediate evac! Unknown forces have us pinned down!”
“Unknown forces?” It was a man to the left of the table this time, one eye clouded and marred by a deep scar running the length of his face. “Did any of you break protocol?”
“Negative sir. No protocols have been breached, but we are under heavy fire! We suspect it may have something to do with the information we’ve just uncovered.”
Three of the men standing in the room exchanged worried glances as a fourth watched on from the very back, face unreadable.
“HQ we are running out of time!” The voice sounded strained this time, breaths coming in short, stuttered gasps. “This flash drive must reach headquarters at all costs!”
The man with the scar spoke again. “Team I-A Alpha, your safe arrival at base is top priority now. Heavy fire from unknown forces grants usage of Protocol IV.”
“FORGET THE PROTOCOLS. THIS INFORMATION IS OUR TOP PRIORITY.”
The man in the corner finally spoke up, stepping toward the table with a gaze that betrayed nothing. “Team I-A Alpha, this is a secure com line. You can divulge the information here and we will make sure it gets where it needs to go.”
There was a moment of silence, then: “No can do, sir! We can’t risk the enemy forces overhearing!”
“I-A Alpha, this is Commander Greyson speaking.” It was the man from the corner again. “You will divulge that information. NOW.”
“All due respect, Commander Greyson sir , but I don’t think-”
The words were drowned out by a volley of explosions on the other side of the line, the screams of dead men walking spilling into the room through the speakers. Then, nothing but static.
“Team I-A Alpha, come in.” The blonde man at the head of the table, Rider, spoke again, his scowl only deepened by the worry lines etched into his face. “Team 1-A!” His voice rose as desperation hitched in his tone. “Maxius! Answer me, dammit!”
Without warning, the static shut off, and Rider found his attention drawn to Commander Greyson, and the finger the man had on the com system’s off switch. “They’re done for, Rider.” The man said, making his way to the door in the deafening silence. “Get used to it. This is what happens in Infiltration.”
SYNOPSIS.
This takes place in a dystopian society in the country of Aldrinalt where individuality is all but criminal. Rather than having an individual birthday, all children born from date xx-xx-xxxx to date xx-xx-xxxx will all age up on the same day. Once they turn 18, Collection Day occurs where they are picked up by bus and driven to an aptitude center to take a test which will determine what job they will have for the rest of their lives. This test is half-written and half hands-on, and the job options are divided into four classes: Labor, Research, Politics, and Infiltration. These classes have widely varied rates of pay and corresponding rates of mortality. Once they are collected, however, they are never permitted to see their families again under any circumstances.
This roleplay will be fairly fast-paced, with one post a week minimum. The characters will begin on Collection Day, going through their (exceptionally dangerous) aptitude tests and being delivered their results both for their track (everyone should test for Infiltration) and their job within that track. From there, they will be taken to their Infiltration camp and subjected to rigorous training and dangerous missions. The ultimate goal is for the characters to uncover the plot happening behind the scenes as they fight to stay alive. Failing to uncover this plot or ignoring it will result in a bad end for your character. There are many possible ends to this roleplay, so make every post count.
RULES.
-It goes without saying, but all RPNation rules apply.
-Please be sure to follow general roleplay etiquettes, such as that involving godmodding, powerplay, and perfect characters.
-Your character WILL test into Infiltration, as that is where the plot of this roleplay takes place. Your job within Infiltration, however, is completely up to you. Your choice of roles is in the next tab.
-As stated in the synopsis, one post a week is a MINIMUM. There will likely be more than that made by other roleplayers.
-NPC’s are only to be created and controlled by the GM’s, unless we extend the role to any of the roleplayers
-If you will be gone for an extended period of time and can’t meet the one post minimum, contact either Hugh Flynn or Shadow Cat so we can get your character to a point where they won’t be interacted with for a while.
ROLES.
Roleplayers will be grouped into teams of four, forming an Infiltration Squad with one of each role. If the amount of roleplayers isn’t enough to form whole teams, the GM’s will either fill in with an NPC or extend the offer to the roleplayers.
Note: Weapon and personality suggestions dictated on this tab are merely guidelines in case you have trouble aligning your character into a certain role. Further information of each role will be divulged once the roleplay begins.
TACTICIAN. This is the battle strategist and the team’s main combat unit.. Tacticians are well-versed in multiple weapons and are the default Alpha of the team. The tactician also ensures all members follow protocol to the T, no matter the situation. These people usually work best with their brains and prefer to be less hands-on. They are good with puzzles and generally prefer traps or small melee weapons.
MEDIC. As the medic, you are the main support troop of your team. This means you will have first aid equipment in your pack at all times, as well as energy boosters for when you or other characters run low on energy. These kinds of people usually have a soft streak not usually seen by other members of the Infiltration Track. Their weapon of choice is usually something light and versatile, like a bow staff, spear, or nunchucks.
ENGINEER. Engineers are the mechanical know-how of the team. These characters are given various gadgets and devices, which they can tweak and tinker with to better suit the current needs of the team. They are skilled in improvisation and are normally regarded as the MacGyver of their squad. In terms of weaponry, they prefer to go two-handed, using either one large melee weapon, or two mid-sized ones.
CYBER SPECIALIST. The cyber-specialist is a hacker type, well versed in computers and technological defense systems. In this era’s hyper-technological society, virtual attacks are also a threat to Infiltration Squads as having communication with headquarters severed could mean the difference between life or death. These types are generally eccentric, working with both their hands and their brains, and focus more on stealth and ranged attacks.
GRENADIER. The grenadier is an explosives maniac. You will be provided with the traditional utility grenades such as flashbangs, smoke grenades, tear gas canisters, as well as some grenades of this era. A well-placed explosive could tip the scales of the battle in or out of your favor, so those of this role are typically on-the-go thinkers and dexterous people. People interested in this role are usually very energetic and, well, explosive and focus more on achieving their goal in one fell swoop.
