As someone who has a good amount of experience playing I would say its directly engage. Considering it was with the intent of harming a target as opposed to affecting the environment.

Time to explain Influence! Influence depicts whether or not someone has.. well, influence on you. You have Influence over someone if they respect or fear you - and vice versa. If you have Influence over someone, you get a +1 modifier to ALL rolls made against them.
