Fantasy Lycia, The Demon Within {OPEN}

Jon

Soldier of Fortune
Thanks for taking interest in our roleplay! velleity velleity and I worked really hard on it. To explain things simply, this is a small group roleplay that will focus on participants working in pairs. Without spoiling too much of the plot, the roleplay will take place a few hundred years after the queen and her children have been sealed by the hero king. Because of the actions of the current Prince, the Demon Queen and her children will be released, though they will have lost the majority of their power over the many years they spent sealed away. In order to restore all that they have lost the Queen will use her power and children to influence the Prince and his knights to restore their power and take back her throne. Over-confident and thrill-seeking, the Prince will believe the Queen can bolster his knights and make use of her children and their powers to protect the realm.

The roles we are seeking to fill are listed below. Please submit a CS in this thread following the outline provided for the role you would like to fill. If you have any questions feel free to ask or DM velleity velleity or myself.

KNIGHTS
The officers of the realm and protectors of the royal family, Knights are a noble class appointed by the lords of their respective lands and approved by the King. They are loved and admired by most who meet them, and some even consider them to be angels sent from the gods to make up for past transgressions. The process of becoming a knight differs with each country; the rural Athal selects their strongest and kindest farmers, while the city-sodden Taskana prefers academy-tested candidates. Romance, land, and riches are forbidden to all Knights while they serve to keep their minds pure and far from greed. Death or exile await any who choose to abandon their duties, while aid and wealth support a proper Knight’s country. Guardian as well as a diplomat, a Knight must protect his or her country from wrongdoers as well as taxes and bad trades. These peaceful times, however, have left many Knights rather bored with only the occasional petty thief to apprehend or lost child to find. Many long for the thrill of adventure and the glory of a battle won. The young Prince spends much of his time with the Empire's knights and relies upon them heavily after his parent's death. He considers them brothers and under the guidance of the Demon Queen, he assigns them each a demon to aid them in their duties.

1523846941694.png

DEMONS
Ambitious and cunning, Demons are willing to take any measure to achieve their goals, no matter how cruel or vicious. It is for this reason, as well as the legend behind their birth, that they are seen as evil incarnate in minds of humans, despite the fact that such a horrid character is not always the case. Demons appear human to an untrained eye (and in this time of peace, all eyes are so ignorant), though a strange, uneasy feeling accompanies the air around them. Should a demon lose control of his or her emotions, a monstrous beast breaks through their human façade. They are creatures talented in combat, but far more skilled in the area of dark magic; they may create sensory illusions, conjure the dead, cast curses, control shadows, and even share their power and mind with a chosen individual. Demons once walked the lands in vast numbers, but their kind have been hunted to near extinction since the time of the Soul Seal. The Queen and her children are severely weakened to the point where they are more human than demon. It is unknown why they truly lost so much while being locked away but their skills in dark magic have no faded. Each one of the children appears to possess a unique trait to bolster the knight they are assigned to. They also appear to gain strength from sins and atrocities as they spread fear and darkness in the realm. This is open to interpretation

SCHOLARS
In the days of the war, magic was a rare thing, and rarer still were people who studied and cultivated the art of it. Those who did became the Hero’s magicians. In the beginning, they were merely occasional advisors consulted during before battle, but their role in the kingdom grew to almost equal that of the King’s. No longer were they mere magic users, but tutors and advisors and strategists as well. In the current age, advancing technology and a greater population than the Empire had ever known, they became known as Scholars. Today, Scholars are tenacious learners of more than just magic and are just as responsible for the current peacetime as all the kings before them. They are admired just as much, if not more so, than their chivalrous counterparts, though they are not so well known for an angelic quality. The Prince keeps a Royal Advisor close at all times.

SETTING
The Voston Empire is the world’s greatest continent and home to several different countries that span across long fields, hills and mountains, parched deserts, seaports, and everything in between. Humans reign the world and demons are all but extinct. Legends say that great dragons soared the skies during the times of war, that sirens called to sailors long lost at sea, even that angels remain in the world as watchful guardians of the Fallen children. However, the times have long changed as legends are lost in the new era of machines and gunpowder. One could be a master scout and search their whole lives without finding more than a whisper of the existence of magical beasts.

MAGIC
Magic consists of six paradigms: Alchemy, Conjuration, Elemental, Enchanting, Illusion, Restoration. Other forms include Dark magic and Life magic, though both are highly taboo. None but demons and the most wicked of humans can utilize the darkness to their advantage, while Life magic often requires the use of blood or living sacrifices. Magic is a gift free for all to learn, but only those with a strong affinity for it, such as most Scholars, can wield anything more than the basic spells.

I Lead

True Name: Tafviri
Alias: Nalan Aslani
Gender: Female
Age: 126 y/o

APPEARANCE

She stands tall at 5’9” (175 cm) and carries herself with all the pride in the world. Many would call her vain or narcissistic, but Tafviri knows the power of attractive looks and will happily use it to her advantage. Her expression is typically set in cool confidence at all times, broken only when her emotions grow out of hand. When they get the better of her, her form morphs into that of a nightmarish monster full of fire and rage.
I Rule
HISTORY

Tafviri was born the granddaughter of an angel turned demon, and inherited every last bit of resentment for the humans and their gods as each one of her peers. As she grew and learned her history, learned how the gods howled with laughter as they watched their children fight, her fury intensified one-hundredfold. She joined the war the war the very day she learned how to wield magic and a sword and she slaughtered every human in her path. She proved herself a fierce leader, a prodigy in magic, and a cunning strategist, and soon enough, she was the Lady General of the entire demon army.

It was she who was responsible for clearing villages from maps, for swelling the seas with ships and bodies, for almost every graveyard that covered the human lands. She was worshipped as a great queen, a goddess, and her people would fight and endure whatever torture or gruesome death they must in order to keep her safe and in power. That is, until a sudden rain washed over the Lady General and spurred her into action unlike anything they had ever known. She travelled to Bern, the capital city, with no more than three lieutenants as her guard. Humanity’s great leader, the Hero of Light, met her outside the gates with knights and magicians of his own. Neither general held any sort of bloodlust in their eyes since before the great rain. She opened her mouth to speak first, words of a ceasefire on her tongue, but the Hero’s magicians cut them clean off with a single word of their own: her name.

She was frozen in place, but a fury-fueled fire raged just beneath her skin. Instead of making a martyr out of the great Lady General, the magicians managed to force a marriage. She wanted a ceasefire, after all, and with her true name in their hands, she was in no condition to refuse. And so the two leaders were married and crowned and left to produce children and rule the lands together. They were a balanced couple despite their many clashing differences, and they kept each other in check. The Voston Empire flourished under their rule and, for a short time, humans and demons lived in relative peace.

The years passed on, their children grew, and Tafviri might have grown almost fond of her husband had he not betrayed her. He had a present for her and their children, he said; something to celebrate the years of peace, he said; an offering to the great Lady General, he said. She had grown far too trusting of him. They made their way to the catacombs deep beneath the castle and before she could utter a word, her true name slipped past his lips. The king’s faithful magicians appeared from the shadows a moment later, each with the name of a half-demon child fresh off their tongues. The queen and her children were trapped.

She paid no attention to the magicians’ mutterings, her eyes focused solely on her husband. She raised a hand to the air, swears and curses spewing from her mouth, and a red flash of magic later, she was sealed within a blood-red crystal, never to be heard from again.

Such is how the legend goes.

☽ ♦ ☾

PERSONALITY

Fierce, determined, proud. Like most demons, Tafviri is cunning and ambitious and willing to go to great lengths to achieve her goals. As a war general, she took no prisoners and offered no mercy. She slaughtered men and women and children without a thought. As a queen, she ruled in much to same way, to her husband’s annoyance. She was a strong ruler, always ready to deal out justice as she saw fit, but not immune to bias. She sided with her demon fellows in all things and acted in ways to spite the king and his humans however she could. And as a mother, she was no less demanding when it came to their training—they were the heirs of the great Lady General, after all—but far below her ruthless façade, she was full of fondness for them. Rarely would she ever have time alone with her children, but when those times came, she made sure to teach them the history of their kind and train them in Dark Magic.

TALENTS
♦ Tafviri is a talented singer, though she rarely displays it beyond the occasional lullabies she once sang for her children.

♦ Though she is far from any typical sort of housewife, she has a secret love of embroidery. It is a hobby she turns to in times of great stress.

COMBAT
♦ Weapons of Choice: Misercorde daggers and whip.

♦ Tafviri fights aggressively and always aims to be on the offensive. An excellent strategist, she prefers quick, agile movements meant to wear down her opponent over time, as opposed to slow, heavy-handed death blows.

♦ She sacrifices brute strength for daring speed. She takes her time with her enemies, a dangerous thing during the rare times she grows too cocky. Her agility is her greatest strength in battle, as well as her greatest weakness. She can maneuver almost any battlefield easily between each precise attack, but to confine her to close-quarters combat is to see her panic and on the defensive.
MAGIC
♦ In top form, Tafviri utilizes Dark Magic, Illusion Magic, and Enchanting Magic. These forms allow her to control shadows as though they were tangible, create sensory illusions, plant suggestions in another’s mind, create glamours, and enchant objects with charms or curses. Her magic becomes far more powerful when in demon form. However, since being released from the Soul Seal, her powers have been reduced to only single-sense illusions that vanish quickly, and simple charms and curses.

♦ Upon sharing her mind and power with another, such as the prince, the queen and her chosen can communicate telepathically. This skill grants the chosen a boon to their own magic and allows them to see through any illusion cast.

RELATIONSHIPS
♦ They may only be half-demons, but her children are her everything, and her eldest is her favorite. Tafviri has had plenty of time (though not nearly as much time as she would have liked) to teach her first child about the history of their kind and pass on the resentment she inherited. To outside eyes, she appears to be a cold, reserved, and demanding mother, and they wouldn’t be wrong. But behind closed doors, away from her husband and his followers, her frigid façade drops ever so slightly to allow a bit of affection to shine through.

♦ While humanity will forever be her main enemy, Tafviri holds a special place in the darkest part of her heart for the modern magicians, the Scholars. They were the ones who forced her into marrying the Hero of Light, who trapped her in the lowest pit beneath the castle. They discovered her name and used it against her and for that, their descendants would surely suffer a most slow and painful death.

Background:

Born to one of the richer families in the tiny harbor town of Wiscasset, Nevaeh grew up a lot luckier than most. Her father, Genji Asano, was a very successful fisherman and merchant and taught her and her twin brother how to fish from a young age. By the time Niko and Nevaeh were pre-teens, the local lord of their lands -having been childless- decided to seek out a ward in order to become representative of his house and his lands for Knightly training. Niko, having been the boy, was chosen as an obvious candidate. Their family rejoiced and for the first time since their mother had died birthing them, the Asano twins saw their father smile. But their happiness was short lived. The night before Niko was to leave, the twins had taken one of their father’s boats out on the harbor. Something happened that night, something that Nevaeh couldn’t explain and it took her brother’s life. Consumed with grief, her father forced her to take her brother’s place and never come back.

Without a family and without any place to consider home, Nevaeh Asano threw herself into becoming a Knight for her brother and for her own sense of sanity. Now as an adult, she places the same amount of focus into everything she does in hopes that it will be enough to escape the past that haunts her.

City/Town of birth: Wiscasset Harbor

Current Residence: Bern, the capital city

Personality:
Looks can be deceiving when it comes to Nevaeh. At first glance she seems like this gentle woman dedicated, reflective and dutiful to the crown and to her oath as a Knight. Which is true, she values loyalty above all else, but she has a willfully sarcastic side that she struggles to keep in check. It is never known that she often questions orders, but follows them anyways as long as they do not impede upon her moral code. Her clever, resourceful, and cheerful nature is what she is known for among her peers. Nobody's perfect however and Nevaeh is far from the exception. She can be bluntly insensitive with her honesty and sometimes her lack of filter gets her into more trouble than it’s worth.

Likes:
+Adventure +Pie +Swordplay +Challenges +Helping/being useful +laughter

Dislikes:
-Liars -Stupidity -Deceit -Backing down from a challenge -Alcohol -Demons -Boats

Fears/Phobias:

[/div][/div]

[div class="tabContent skillsContent"][div class="tabShadow skillsShadow"][/div][div class=scroll]

Talents/skills:
Due to her small stature, she is adapt in getting into and out of places quickly and with an agility that would rival a thief. Her skill with the Rapier is almost unparalleled, but the rest of her weapons work is a bit...lacking. She’s also very good at tying knots in ropes and bartering.

She keeps her mother’s wedding ring on a silver chain that she wears around her neck. Her sword has also been past down from generations, her great-great-great-great grandfather supposedly fought in the Great War.

Level of education: Tactical knowledge is one of her better strong suits, however her humble origins have also made her a bargaining force to be reckoned with making her business sense her strongest educational asset.

Peaceful or aggressive attitude?
Nevaeh likes to start off with the most peaceful solution, but if provoked she can become extremely aggressive.

Fighting skills/techniques:
She prefers to fight with her sword and if she must she will fight hand-to-hand but she isn't very good to say the least. She's much deadlier with a sword or dagger in hand than without.

Special skills/magical powers/etc: Just the skills that she has with the Rapier. She's been secretly using it since she was a child without her Father knowing and has only improved since then.

Trajan Aquillex

HIBtmsB.jpg

Nickname(s) or Alias: Trajan Aquillex, "The Sword of the Western Hills"

Gender: Male

Role: Knight

Age: Approaching 30 years of age

Birthday: Sometime during the mid-winter (he has since lost track of the exact day)

Background: Trajan Aquillex was born in northwestern Athal, in a village so desolate that the last census of the area had not been filed since before the days of the Lady General. Quiet, tranquil, and undisturbed between the bosom of two mountains, it seemed the perfect place for two eloping lovers to get their start. Trajan’s father, Aethan Fearlock, had been a respected blacksmith to the wealthy lord of Aquillex in south Athal. Growing up alongside the lord’s daughter, distant glances became affection; affection became attraction; attraction became something more. Knowing that their illicit union could result in his death, Trajan’s father convinced her to flee with him, and within the year, Trajan was born and given the name of his grandsire, Damian Fearlock.

Life in the village for a boy was hard. For one thing, he was one of only two children living in the village – the other a much older girl, who looked upon him as insufferable and disdained his company. The other was that as he grew, his parent’s union gradually began to fall apart. His mother, used to being pampered, was unsuited to the rough lifestyle of a lowly village farmer. She began to drink, and as she drank, her unhappiness gradually grew. By chance, one day shy of Damian’s 7th birthday, a passing courier in service to her lord father happened to glimpse her as he passed through the area. Word got out, and the lord himself rode to the village and apprehended the family. His father was put to death, and only by swearing absolute fealty to her fathers wishes was she able to save Damian from certain death as well. He was stripped of his disgraced name, taken from his mother, and sent to live under his grandfather’s wing.

As the old man had no other male heirs upon which to pass his lineage, the young Damian was formally adopted into the household and given his new name: Trajan Aquillex. He was given an education, a home far different than the one he remembered, and rigorous training in the sword. But despite these gifts, the relationship between himself and his grandfather remained one of mutual dislike. When a spot opened up at the Academy, he took the opportunity and did not look back.

Under the tutelage of the Academy, he honed his swordsman at age 12, and quickly began to stand out from his peers. With an intimidating height and poise like his father before him, it was not uncommon for him to spar with 2 or more opponents at once. He was soon able to make a name for himself, and upon graduating from the academy, he served as a bodyguard to a popular high-ranking diplomat in Taskana. Trajan served him faithfully for many years and even saved his life on at least two occasions. When he was around twenty, a Knight of the Realm passed on, leaving a vacancy that needed to be filled. The city of Taskana announced that it would be holding a tournament in order for interested parties to show off their skills. While most of the participants were current students of the Academy, Trajan was able to pull a few strings with his employer to participate. He trained, bled, and sweat to prepare, and when the day arrived, he stepped into tourney grounds determined to use his experience to put on a show that the city had not seen since the days of the Hero King.

Now, years later, he stands a fully fledged knight of the realm, experienced, deadly, and finally complacent with his life.

PERSONALITY

Known for his austerity, Trajan is a gruff, pragmatic knight who takes his duties to the crown very seriously. He has a difficult time trusting others and has a strong sense of independence, often hiding his true feelings behind an emotional mask or the occasional sarcasm. This is a consequence of his turmoil upbringing in which he was unable to form very many close relationships. In spite of this, he values his comrades and feels personally responsible for each and everyone of them. He is observant, calculating, and calm when assessing threats and prefers to react to most situations without resorting to violence, only drawing his blade if he intends to take a life.

'Demon'

Alias: Samira Raileanu.
Gender: Female.
Age: Looks in her twenties.
Birthday: August 28th.

Background: Since the start of her childhood she was never one to get too attached to things. Not even her toys that she played with, throwing them aside whenever she lost interest or just forgot about it. The same went with most of the people she encountered, only a few managed to keep it interesting, allowing them by her side. Weirdly enough, one of them was one of the maids working in the castle who was being true to herself, not putting on a mask just because Tilukh was supposed to be a royalty. They got along well and spend time together, even more than she did with her siblings. However due to severe bullying, the maid had to quit her job as she couldn’t handle it anymore, leaving Tilukh by herself. She never heard of the servant ever again. After that happening, she was bound to encounter people who she didn’t want to see that day which were a lot. She couldn’t hide from their sight as she was a princess, daughter of the King and Queen. She absolutely hated that title, making her sick to the stomach whenever someone called her like that.

As she got older, she become more defiant towards her family, especially her parents as she didn’t understand why a human would mate with a powerful being such as a demon. She even blamed her mother at a certain point in her life, call it a rebellious phase. She never called her father by his name as she didn’t feel like she could completely trust the man, an itchy feeling whenever they would get just a bit too close to her liking. The man did try to act like a father but she didn’t believe that his actions were genuine as they were only done in front of a public. Never in private. Her mother was well, someone she looked up to a certain degree besides the fact that she married a human. They talked and had a neutral relationship, nothing more, nothing less. This was a bit disturbing for the people who worked at the castle as well as for other visiting royalty as she was supposed to set the example for her siblings as she was in fact the oldest of the bunch. Her siblings she got along with in a way, not too close but it was perhaps better than it was with her parents. They talked and played like other families but she wouldn’t tell them secrets or anything like that.

Whenever she got the chance to get out of the castle, she took it without a second thought. Slipping through the streets were stalls and shops were standing, showing off their merchandise proudly. Happy couples and families, friends who laughed about everything they could even put their eyes on. It annoyed her mainly because they were genuinely happy about their lives. Most of them. Therefore she started doing mischief. Whispering sweet nothings, spreading rumours that weren’t necessarily true, slowly making them mad, etc. Besides her little hobby she also trained with the royal guards in order to keep her in shape in case something were to ever happen. It was also an outlet for her anger and bloodlust, though she kept it so that she wouldn’t actually kill them which would get her into serious trouble as a result.

City of town of birth: Within the walls of the castle.
Currently lives: Unknown.

Personality: Shrouded in mystery, one quickly learns of her innate ability to act as if she knows more than what she is letting on. Careful and meticulous, she is like a chess player, always had of the game. She enjoys chaos, as she stated to herself that she was a hell-raiser and Earth to be her playground. She frequently observes conflict around people with delight, though she does no wish to see any of her family get killed. She apparently ‘loves’ them in her own way. She likes to make gambles with whoever possible, including those of a high status. She is prone to eccentric moments nestled in between serious moments, making light of a heavy mood and is portrayed with a woman with more money than sense. She loves to eat sweets and she is deeply interested in how humans barbecue.

> Combat
Dislikes:
> Humans [she hates the fact that she is half-human herself, having problems with it since the day she fully understood what it meant]
> The ocean
> Weak people
Fears/Phobias:
Drowning.
Level of education:
> Master in combat.
> Knows several languages.
> Gambling.
Peaceful or aggressive attitude? Aggressive.
Fighting skills/techniques: Has learned to fight with a sword, bow, daggers and bare-handed. However she is most at ease with daggers or bare-handed, preferring close range over distance so she can see the fear in her opponent’s eyes up close.
Magical powers:
> At her best she can use dark and restoration magic.
> Dark magic is mainly used by her when in combat, hiding in the shadows like a chameleon. She can even erase her shadow for a certain amount of time. One last technique of this magic is animated shadow, meaning that she can transform her own shadow into a living being [also with a time limit] which is really handy when she needs a distraction.
> Restoration magic is extremely useful in her case as she prefers close combat so getting hurt is a part of it. Despite not dying easily, it still hurts when she get cut, but with this ability she can heal her wounds faster than normal. She can also heal others by touching the wound.
> Due to having woken up not too long ago she can only heal small wounds such as cuts and bruises. She can hide her presence only for a few seconds.
Weapon of choice: Daggers.
Weaknesses in combat: Bad defence.
Strengths in combat: Quick and stealthy.

Important relationships: Her family.
Acquaintances: TBA
Pets: None.
Enemies? Humans, they’re weak and think they can rule the world. She hated their arrogance.

Hero of Light
Chrom Aemon Voston
Age 48

Legend

Almost all know the story of the hero of light who defeated the demon queen. His songs are still a favorite of children across the realm. However, few truly know much about the hero as even scholars can find few records detailing his rule and the formation of the Empire. His death was sudden after the great war, a parting curse from the queen would be his end. His magicians raising his son Desmond to be the true first Emperor of the unified kingdoms, the Voston Empire. While humanity need only remember his bravery and heroics, the hero's true family may recall the story differently.

Before the start of the war, Chrom worked as a woodcutter for his father. Life was simple and business was good. With the surrounding kingdoms growing ever larger there was always a need for lumber and none was stronger than the wood of the great oaks of Aselia. While the demon threat existed, the darkness never passed the great mountains, and even then no demon dared approach the walls of the Izoold kingdom. Famous for their powerful mages and demon slaying magic, the fiends that did approach were quickly dispatched. Praised as protectors of the realm, many sent tribute to the guardians of the west. Though Izoold thought it only a test of their might and a way to maintain their power and influence.

This was until the first bloody spring. Powerful storms decimated the western lands that year, an odd change from the usually pleasant season. Adding to the fact were the coordinated attacks on the outposts beyond the wall that left no survivors. At first, Izoold thought the attacks to be from barbarians in the mountains who had grown desperate for supplies after the devastating storms, but they often found supplies burnt not stolen. Reports from scouting parties began to come in of groups of demons in small elements coming down from the mountains pushing ever closer to the wall. The reports were largely ignored, but as bodies began to pile up, the king decided something needed to be done. Calling upon his army, King Roland rode out himself to eliminate the demon threat. What he would find awaiting him was a demon army twice the size of his own, waiting for him beneath the mountains. Reports called it a slaughter, as was the resulting raid on Izoold as the young princess and Queen fled their lands to allied kingdoms.

The fall of Izoold would mark the start of the war though the demons would find humanity unprepared for their assault as kings floundered to raise their armies. Believed to be nothing but monstrous savages, the demons oddly enough grew more coordinated and tactical with their assaults as they moved across the land, their strikes strategic. The kingdoms initially suffered heavy casualties because of this, forcing the kingdoms to unite and summon on the assistance of all men able to lift a sword. The call eventually reached Aselia. Reluctant to send his son off to die, Chrom's father knew they would have nothing if the demons reached their forest. Furthermore, if the men of Aselia could so easily fell a great oak what match would be any demon?

Chrom's first battles were hardly as heroic as the songs may recall. Losing village after village and losing ever more land to the darkness, humanity appeared to be on the run. However, Chrom always did return from battle, ax in hand. Perhaps hardened by the harsh woods of Aselia, war came naturally to the woodsmen, and soon Chrom and his men could slay a demon as quickly as they could fell a tree. Men flocked to them, as commanders allowed them to lead the charge, augmenting them with scholars and demon slaying weapons. Cleaving their way through the darkness, humanity began to push back for the first time in the war. Perhaps it was simply luck, or the demon generals now underestimating the humans that day that allowed Chrom to slay a demon general, but it would be a kill that would shift the tide of the war.

Kings and peasants alike rallied to their champion, the hero blessed by the gods to deliver them from the darkness. It was the hope that humanity needed and the motivation to truly unit as they kept the momentum going. Chrom quickly rose from a simple woodsman to commander of the united armies with all the resources of the realm. While many credit him with these changes, Chrom did little but continue to slay demons on the front lines as his magicians and scholars ran his war. In his own words, he could do little if it did not involve his ax.

A fact that made him believe he was finished when he was told by his scholars that the war would end. It's was a truly strange rainy day when he returned to Aselia, leaving the rest of the war in the hands of the scholars and kings if the fighting was to be truly over. Finding his father well and his love Olivia awaiting faithfully, their reunion was short lived when he was once again summoned to the newly formed capital of Bern. Things moved quickly upon Chrom's return, as a short meeting turned into a marriage proposal.

Thinking it some sick joke or attempt at negotiation, Chrom accepted when he was told that the fighting would only continue if he did not. Most of his men had already returned to Aselia, to their families. They had fought for years together dreaming only of returning to their forest. He could not take that from them and the many other brave men who had fought and died with him.

Chrom was married and crowned with Tafviri and so began their rule. Overwhelmed by ruling an Empire, Chrom initially did his best to avoid the palace and their bed. Choosing to assist with rebuilding the realm, Chrom aided humans and demons alike in an attempt to appease his new wife. The demons were not as monstrous as he had initially thought, and he began to believe in the peace they could create together. Tafviri, on the other hand, appeared made to rule, as the throne fit her naturally. She was harsh, and her hatred for humanity strong, requiring Chrom to often stand in humanities defense, but she never once opposed him as he never stood in her way. The kingdom began to flourish and so sparked a golden age for the realm as all fighting soon stopped.

Losing his fears of their chambers, their relationship was anything but natural. Still, one could see affection in their interactions if one truly looked. At least enough for their children to be born. As the years went on Tafviri softened on humanity, requiring little need for Chrom, as it appeared she could only continue to expand the empire. Chrom meanwhile began to focus on their children, as a family was something he had always wanted. Ignoring the fact that they were half-demons, Chrom did his best to raise them himself, much to the annoyance of their nanny's and servants. Often times letting them get away with much as Tafviri was always busy with the affairs of the kingdom.

Choosing to ignore the events of the past and the ways of the demons, Chrom taught his children to fight and to look towards the bright future they would have, leading this new empire their mother had built. As they grew, their children set out on their own paths, as Chrom fell back beside his wife as King of the Empire. Taking control of their armies though there was no need for them. Still, he found joy in training with their demon and human soldiers and building new fortresses in the Outlands.

It was around this time that his scholars approached him once again with the rest of their plan. News of his child with Olivia and plans for the future led him to return to the palace and the summoning of his children. The royal family would never leave the palace after that night as only the King's death would be announced publically. By the hand of the Demon Queen, chaos erupted in the streets as fighting between demons and humans erupted once again. However, the scholars had planned for this day and humanity was more than prepared to finally deal with the demon threat. With the demons being hunted, and the blood of the King needed, Desmond would take the throne and history would correct itself as the scholars saw fit. The newly awakened demons finding themselves in a strange new world void of demons and their mother ruling alongside a man so much so, yet nothing like their father.

By Order of the Prince
cemcoalarge.png

Royal Decree

Prince Seth Asmund Voston

First of his name, Stewart of the Emerald Isles's

Sir/Lady Knight,

Upon completion of your mourning duties, you are hereby ordered to report to the royal palace for reassignment. Effective immediately, you are relieved of all rights and responsibilities designated by your original appointment and shall henceforth serve as a Knight of the Crown. Approval is granted for you to carry the crest and colors of his lordship, Prince Seth Asmund Voston. Relocation to Bern is expected prior to your arrival at the palace.

You are expected to report to the royal ministry one week following the completion of your duties.

By his Royal Decree,

Seth Asmund Voston

Royal Ministry
The Right To Rule
Combat Ability

Peaceful or aggressive attitude?
Peaceful, though he enjoys fighting he believes it rarely results in anything but more work.

Fighting skills/techniques: Proficient with most bladed and ranged weapons, the Prince's tactical mind is his greatest weapon. Commanding small groups of knights, he has many times apprehended dangerous bandit groups while being out-numbered.

Special skills/magical powers/etc:
Divine Favor

Weapon of choice (if any):
Lance

Weaknesses in combat:
Due to an injury during his training as a teenager, the Prince lost most of his hearing in his right ear. For this reason, he dislikes people doing anything on his right side that he cannot see.

Strengths in combat:
Natural leader and swift and agile fighter. Given his combat ability he seemingly appears to do the impossible in front of his knights, inspiring hope.

Divine Favor
This is the Prince's only ability and is not really an active ability. Playing off the lore in the original posting, the gods take pleasure in pitting mortal creatures against one another. However, humans are much more fragile than demons or angels (and therefore less entertaining) so the gods often intervene on their behalf even though they appear to have vanished from the world.

The gods basically initiate random acts that affect probability in his favor by making improbable (but not impossible) things occur within his immediate area. Thus causing him to have "good luck" and his opponents to have "bad luck". This godly meddling can be anything from enemy equipment failure to hitting the right switch to turn off a trap. This ability is not known by the family themselves but is suspected by the scholars. Most simply attribute the Voston luck to being descendants of the hero of light. However, not all share this trait as we see with the death of the king and queen, or those in the family can seemingly lose favor. Voston "luck" can seemingly be called forth by the prince but rarely has it saved him completely. Given the many scars he received from his training and travels many would doubt his luck, especially now as he stands as emperor.

Divine Favor also grants him unusually high resistances to poisons and magic, though he is still human. While the Prince currently holds the favor of the gods, the demon children as descendants of the hero themselves could potentially steal favor from the gods should their actions justify it. (Basically means the demon children would probably be the most difficult opponents for the Prince should they fight.)
The Past is Lost

Background

Seth was born in Bern during the 5th age of the Voston Empire. It has been a little over 500 years since the death of the Hero and sealing of the Demon Queen as Emperor Desmond the VIII rules on the Voston throne. The Empire grew to encompass many more kingdoms over the centuries as they all flourish under the Voston alliance. Such peace and prosperity does little to challenge a king as most kingdoms did well on their own and happily paid tribute and taxes to the Emperor, the embodiment of the light that saved the land.

The Voston's were never a noble family prior to the war with the demons, but Desmond the First did his best to live up to his father's legacy, even as it slipped more into legend. High standards were set for the heir apparent, as though the Voston's now lived a life of luxury, the allied armies were maintained, ready for any demon threat that should surface, the Emperor standing as their commander. As the years passed the traditions of the woodcutting hero of light were soon forgotten and so were the standards set forth by Desmond the First. While the next Prince of Voston was trained to command, this training soon amounted to little more than swordplay and lessons on tactics as many Princes began to follow other more leisurely (and sinful) pursuits suitable to the peaceful age.

Prince Seth however, would discover a new found love for the woods surrounding Bern. Throwing himself at his training, Seth would look for almost any excuse to stay in the forest or small towns surrounding the outskirts of Bern. His natural talent for the outdoors causing him to surpass many of his teachers in both combat and tactics. By the age of 16, Seth commanded the Kings-guard and saw to the security of Bern personally. Much to the dismay of his parents and nearly every citizen of Bern, Seth was quickly removed due to his more zealous efforts, though there was little to no crime in the city during his tenure.

At the suggestion of the Scholars, Seth would continue his training under the talented Knights of the various kingdoms that made up the Empire. Staying as a guest to one of the many kings, he was taught to rule as their knight continued Seth's combat training often with new tactics and weapons suitable to the region. This would continue for a number of years with the Prince returning to Bern periodically. After having traveled most of the realm, Seth began to move about on his own with the company of a few knights. Providing aids to some of the smaller towns in the form of security or simply supplies, the Prince was praised a hero if not believed to be the hero of light himself.

During one of Seth's longer campaigns, Seth did not plan to return to Bern for a year until a high king rode to deliver news to the Prince himself. On a voyage to the Emerald Isles, the ship carrying the Emperor and Empress was sunk during a violent storm from what is believed to be the work of a SeaKing. Wanting to investigate on his own, the King urged Seth to return to Bern, the Empire needed an Emperor.

Seth reluctantly rode for Bern, awaiting more news on his parents before arranging for the funeral rites once their bodies were recovered. In shock, Seth had been trained for everything, yet he still did not feel ready to be Emperor, not like this. What's more, like always he found little to do in Bern as the Empire continued to rule itself as it did for hundreds of years. Hoping to find ways to fill his time before settling into the throne, Seth began to explore the palace more and more. Going down past the old halls and catacombs, to the ruins of Izoold on which the palace was built. Discovering some odd crystal formations, Seth would soon send for his knights.

Age: 27
Birthday: August 14th

Appearance:
Standing at 5'11, one would think Seth just another knight or Kings-guard given his often aloof and laid-back nature. Compounding the fact is the simple leather armor he wears as he travels with only one or two knights at his side and often with no banners. This is perhaps why he has become so approachable by the people and praised as a hero for it. In truth, it is because Seth is generally rather lazy and does not believe in the formalities of being a Prince. Believing that he would change things once he became Emperor, he has done little more than conform more to the role of an Emperor, dawning his ornate armor. His expression sitting upon the throne is more than telling however.

Personality:
Seth is a natural leader and enjoys spending time with his soldiers and citizens. He enjoys a challenge, and while he is not so childish as to admit it, he takes great pride in being a descendant of the Hero of Light and enjoys playing that role. For that reason, he believes his mission is to combat evil and injustice. While he is certainly an Emperor more capable than the original Hero given his training, he finds the work tedious and boring, as he does his best to avoid it just as he did as a child. However, not one to shirk his duties, he now rules rather reluctantly. Part of his reluctance stems from his own insecurities, as though he would never show it, whether its women or politics he questions his experience since both were thrown to him rather easily as a Voston. Seth also struggles with his vices as he always did enjoy sweets and whores as he traveled, but struggles to give those things up to maintain the hero he secretly strives to be.

Likes:
Candy, Whores, Camping, Fighting, Quiet Villages

Dislikes: Marriage, Politics, Demons

Fears/Phobias:
Failing as a Hero of Emperor,
Sneak attacks due to being hard of hearing on his right side.
Choosing a bad Empress

Talents/skills:
Herbal medicine
Hunting
Cooking

Significant/special belongings:
Sword belonging to the original hero of light
Demonslaying Lance (apparently used by one of the magicians of the original hero)

Peace Eternal
RElationships

Thought I would go into relationships here a bit to help out the characters.

Knights:
Given his small family, Seth considers most knights to be his siblings or even aunts or uncles. He trusts knights of the realm more than anyone else and their care and duties are perhaps the one thing he always takes seriously. While he is always willing to provide a capable knight with whatever they could need or want, Seth is very demanding of them, more so than any other ruler before him. Often using knights to accompany him on personal adventures or to simply spar with him when he has nothing else to do.

Demons:
While Seth doesn't really yet understand the true nature of the demon kids, he senses great power in them. For this reason he hopes to make them allies and possibly even knights of Voston to become knights of legend, knights that would suit a hero like himself. The demons could also probably sense that Seth is a relation of their father and that they share blood. Seth is also the reincarnation of their father, so they may sense something there.

Scholars:
While the Voston's rule the kingdom, most of the heavy lifting is done by the scholars. The royal family will basically do anything that a scholar suggests to them. The hiring process for scholars is a bit tedious, but since we have no scholars this isn't an issue. Scholars because of their work know more than any other character in this rp.
