Hearing the light scratching of Leo's pen snapped Ariao from her thoughts. Giving her head a shake, she put the notebook up and took out another one, this one used for the class notes, and started to follow Leo's lead.

Ariao has to face the truth of it sooner or later. Avery said tightly, casting a glance at Spencer. Running from it is only going to cause the wound to fester and get worse.

Still, where did she go anyways? She barely made it in on time for class herself. Penelope asked, licking her lips uneasily. As far as she knew, none of them knew where Ariao went to, though she could harbor a guess based on what she had seen in the trial.

When Rui paused to switch on an introductory PowerPoint presentation for himself and the class, Leo took this time to look around at who he was sitting by. He hadn't even realized it, but he was surrounded by girls. Flushing with the realization, he tried not to keep his eyes on any of them for too long, knowing the affect he had on their behavior.
In the middle of his thoughts, he jumped slightly and glanced behind him when Ariao slammed the book she had closed, put it away, and pulled out her note-taking supplies. The curiosity was sparked in him now. He looked up at Ariao.
He knew who Ariao was, since he had known her since Freshman year of school, but he never really had the chance to talk to her or get to know her over the years because when he came in contact with her, he was always distracted by the many "friends" he had around him- most of them being the popular boys and girls in the school. He never really knew how to act amongst the group and was rather quiet and internal when among them, but he didn't want to simply abandon any of the, thinking that being in their group helped them in some way or other. Humans were a very peculiar, intriguing creature to him.
"Hi... Your name is Ariao Gavel, right?" Leo suddenly whispered to her, a friendly smile spreading across his face, and a friendly light to his bright golden eyes. His bright golden ponytail was draped elegantly over his left shoulder as he spoke to her.

Spencer swiftly glanced Leo's way when he started talking to Ariao. This time, a stronger spike of jealousy shot across the link and his energy spiked to nearly Delta level. He had known since the start of middle school that he was unlike other werewolves, but he still didn't know why. He seemed to be the only werewolf with the Heirophant bloodline purely, and discovered by observation that it was an incredibly rare bloodline. He was unlike other werewolves because he could spike his energy to Alpha level, though couldn't keep it at Alpha level for long before he turned feral. He could also scale through the other energies, but chooses to keep it at Omega level since Avery was his Alpha and Penelope his Beta, and he respected their pack hierarchy... As long as the other two didn't push him. He also believed that Ariao was his soulmate, and because of that, his energy responded to her as such. He looked to Ariao with wild eyes, wondering if she was going to feed into Leo's attention. He already knew what she was going to do. She had a crush on the boy since she first saw him Freshman year of high school. He was so jealous and intent on the attention Leo was giving Ariao he didn't hear Avery and Penelope speaking across the link.

Ariao jumped slightly, startled when Leo spoke up, and lifted her head, eyes widening for a second. He was ACTUALLY choosing to talk to her of all people?! Feeling a slight flush of happiness warming her cheeks, she tightened her grip on the pen she was using, forcing herself to keep to the poker face her father had all but forced her to learn. "That's right. And you're Leonardo Inlustrius, right?" She had to stop herself from giggling like a happy school girl as she said his name. Though his last name was a bit harder to swallow for her for some reason, her mind wanting to savor his first name rolling off her tongue. Get it together, you're not like those fan girls of his! She scolded herself with a quick shake of her head. "Sorry, did you need something?" She asked, trying to force her mind in a more practical direction.

"Spencer..." Avery growled quietly in warning, just loud enough for the nearby werewolf to hear him when he felt the omega's energy spike suddenly.

A young man with short but layered dark gold hair ran a hand through his hair and sighed heavily to himself as he made his way towards the Farmer's Market of Varana. Once again, he was stuck having to buy groceries once again since his younger brother was lazy, irresponsible, and practically useless. If you want something done, do it yourself... he thought with annoyance to himself. After a bit of wandering and browsing through the various booths within the market, he eventually walked up behind the young woman inspecting a fruit rather closely. He watched her for a brief moment, but remained silent as he waited. It wasn't like he had anything better to do anyway. Today was his day off of work.

"Are you kidding?" Spencer scoffed back to Penelope, glancing her way from under his hood, his bright green eyes glinting wryly. "As long as that damn book is in front of her face, nothing will be interesting to her." He rolled his eyes and faced forward again.

Leo nodded to Mr. Rui. "Of course, Sir," he responded quickly before spotting an open seat in front of Ariao in the very front row. Not wanting to cause more of a ruckus, he quickly made his way to the seat, then slid into it and started resorting his messy papers as quietly as he could.
Spencer watched Leo closely, narrowing his eyes when Leo decided to sit in front of Ariao of all the places. Well, isn't it her lucky year... he spat, so bitterly it crossed over into the link he shared with the pack. A flush of jealousy also shot through the link as well.

The woman didn't seem to notice the man that was watching her. She continued to pick up a few vegetables and fruits before paying for each individual item. She wanted to make sure the quality was right for the ingredients she needed.

Spencer glanced Avery's way, then faced forward again as he tried to get his energy back to Omega level, though watching Ariao and Leo interact made that very challenging. He growled at the back of his throat, wanting to maul Leo where he sat. With his perfect looks and his regal aura... He hated it.

Leo just grinned, flashing his mockingly perfect pearly whites again. "Oh, no... I just figured I would get to know everyone I can... This is our Senior year, supposed to be the best year of our high school career, right? Or so, that's what everyone says..." He dropped his gaze, still smiling. "Maybe we could get to know each other better, become good friends?" He raised his gaze to her again, eyes glinting.
Spencer could barely contain his energy. His green eyes flashed as it started to spike again and he shifted tightly in his seat. His skin started heating up.

The woman didn't seem to notice the man that was watching her. She continued to pick up a few vegetables and fruits before paying for each individual item. She wanted to make sure the quality was right for the ingredients she needed.
The young man said nothing as well, simply patiently waited his turn. However, as he looked around while he was waiting, he spotted a nice cut of meat in the booth next to the one he was at. He glanced back to the woman briefly before he started towards it. Now, he was standing next to the young woman, inspecting the meat cut.
"See something you like there?" the booth manager, a large man with a bloodied apron on, spoke.
The young man lifted his gaze to the booth manager and gave him a small smile. "Yes, actually. I was wanting to know what kind of animal this loin was cut from," he started, pointing to the nice cut he saw before. He was dressed in a pale green button-down shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows and a nice pair of khaki pants on. The shirt was tucked not too tightly into the khaki pants and revealed a brown leather belt fitted nicely around his waist. He wore a pair of brown leather dress shoes as well.

The woman raised an eyebrow at the man who was talking to the meat vendor. This man seemed to catch her eye for a moment, watching I'm silently. She wondered what part of Varana he was from considering his dialect. Even the clothing choice revealed another trait as well. She wore a simple white dress with solid black boots. A jacket rested over her shoulders as well. Her hair pulled back into a tight bun, the one occasions she normally would have it resting on her shoulders.
Apart of her wanted to get to know this man while another thought it was best left alone. Turning, she started off for the next vendor, only to stop mid-step. She was curious as to what this man would say to the vendor.

"Where have I heard that before?" Ariao muttered, finally feeling Spencer's glare on the back of her head. Best year, yeah right. Nothing but a joke. She thought, turning her head slightly when Mr. Rui was facing away from the class to look back at Spencer curiously, feeling that familiar heat she always felt around him stir in her chest. Ever since middle school, she had had a crush on him, though believing he didn't feel the same way about her, she kept quiet with her feelings.
To make things more complicated, Leonardo seemed to be drawing that same effect from her, though with his massive group of fan girls, it was easier to imagine keeping her distance from that. She'd had enough of a hate crowd of her own coming from Jonas and his little group of would-be prosecutors, adding fuel to the fire in terms of a rabid fan club was not something she was keen on doing this late in the game.

And that was when a folded piece of paper landed itself on Leo's desk, clearly passed on from someone else if the little fancy hearts on it were any clue. Sitting a couple of rows away from them was Arianna Rui, grinning widely as she wiggled her fingers in a attempt at a flirty wave at Leo. It was a short letter asking him to join her for lunch today.

"That right there is a pork loin, my good man. Cut from the biggest hog of my bunch. He was also the healthiest. And don't worry - all animals used for consumption purposes are treated well and humanely harvested, as the Varana Agricultural Act regulates. He lived a good life, which is why that cut right there is a beaute." The man winked at the younger man and continued chewing the toothpick he had in his mouth.
"Pork... Fair enough. I'll take it," the younger man replied as he fished for his wallet in the pockets of his khakis.
"Alright! I knew I took you for a winner. That'll be fifteen bucks."
The young man flipped through the many bills he had I'm his wallet. Whatever job he had paid him well it seemed. He counted out three fives as the booth manager carefully took the loin in his gloved hands and wrapped it in a couple of layers of parchment paper. The younger man rested the money on the counter of the booth, then closed and put away his wallet. As he did, he glanced over at the young woman watching him, his deep brown eyes glinting.

It was a short letter asking him to join her for lunch today.

Spencer felt eyes on him and glanced Ariao's way. He widened his eyes when he realized she was staring at him and flushed, then turned away and stood quickly.
"I'm gonna use the bathroom, Teach..." he almost growled, quickly crossing to Rui's desk, taking the hall pass they were required to have, then started for the door.
"I... Beg your pardon?" Leo chuckled at Ariao's comment, then his attention was drawn to Spencer's dramatic behavior before he heard a piece of paper fall onto his desk. He glanced down at it, the first thing he noticed was the hearts. He furrowed his brow and glanced briefly to Rui before he nonchalantly opened the note and saw it was from Arianna. He felt the heat of bashfulness rush to his cheeks and looked to Arianna, smiling brightly to her. He nodded his head shyly. This wasn't new. Arianna would always pass him notes in classes she wasn't able to sit next to him. He knew she had a thing for him. He folded the note back up and slid it into his pocket as he looked back to Ariao. "I... Apologize for the distractions. Why don't you join a friend and I for lunch today and we can talk more?" He heard Rui starting to talk about himself and knew they had to pay attention soon or miss notes.

Avery sighed as Spencer stood and left the room, shaking his head slowly. He knew all too well what his omega was going through, though, having gone through the same with Sarah many years ago. However, the difference that pushed to the forefront remained: Spencer and Ariao weren't soulmates. In the four years they had been friends, nothing had clicked with them, at least to his knowledge anyways.

Ariao turned back around at Leo's question, noticing the paper he held in his hand. Tightening her grip on her pen, she frowned. "Thanks, but no thanks." She said tightly. She could see Arianna half glaring at her from the corner of her eye, making it all too clear who the note was from. "Enjoy your fan club. That sort of thing isn't my style." Forcing herself to look away, she noticed Spencer was gone now as well and sighed heavily through her nose. Where'd he go? She thought with a frown.

Leo furrowed his brow at Ariao, wondering what caused her sudden hostile behavior. "What...?" he questioned with confusion. "Fan club...?" What was she talking about...? However, he heard Rui explaining his hours of availability for tutoring if anyone needed it and quickly turned around, focusing back on his notes. As he wrote down the days and times, he felt a bit guilty for having bothered Ariao and glanced back at her for a brief moment, then left her alone.

Spencer stormed down the empty halls, muttering to himself as he turned and marched into the men's restroom. His mutterings quickened and intensified ths angrier he got. He slammed the hall pass down on the counter next to a sink and shoved his hands under the motion-sensored faucet, then splashed his face with cold water. After a moment, he turned the water to hot and dipped his whole head under the faucet until his black hair was drenched in water, then he angrily pulled back and started squeezing the water out of it. The sink shut off, and soon he was left alone to his thoughts, the silence around him deafening as he stared at the drain in the sink. The water was enough to keep his wolf at bay and to cool his body temperature, but thoughts of Ariao festered in his mind like an infected wound. The more he thought about her, the angrier and more hurt he became. His face twisted as he lifted his gaze to his reflection. The water dripped from his face and hair into the sink, forming the only sound he could hear at the moment. His attention fell upon the scar hidden under his now wet bangs, and so he pulled them aside to reveal the jagged scratches he received in middle school. It was when he first discovered his power and finally found his wolf... But the darkness within him had turned his wolf into an evil beast. The scar was a reminder of how he had to face his worst enemy - himself.
The memories were grave and turned his anger into pain. He squeezed his eyes shut with a twisted face and bent over the sink, holding his face in his hands.

The woman caught a glimpse in his eyes before turning away rather haughtily. If he were commoner compared to her stature of middle class, she wouldn't even speak to him. Picking up her bags of groceries, she then turned away. She would hide herself amongst the midst of the crowd if she needed to.
Would she let this man catch up? Or would she make it harder for him to find her? That part was all but a mystery.

But alas, the young man turned away from the woman when she looked away from him and continued on with his business. He had other things to get and a few other things he wanted to do on his day off. He also had to go pick up his brother from work later on, so he was on a time crunch. He took the pork loin from the booth manager, nodded to him in thanks, then moved onto the fruit booth he was at first, now that the woman was through there. He didn't spend too much time there, merely picking out a few good fruits before he moved on, following the path the woman had gone consequently. Now he just had to buy more bread.

Ariao turned back to the front and wrote down the times as well. She had just finished when the bell for the end of the class rang, making her jump slightly. For some reason, it had seemed to go by quicker than she expected... "First day's always a half day, right." She muttered, running a hand over her face when she forgot that little detail. Perhaps visiting her father this morning had been enough to mess with her head after all. All the first day was used for was to know what classes you had and what the teachers would expect for the year, meaning class times were shorter to fit them all in by noon. By the time she had stood up from her seat, Penelope and Avery had already joined her side, ready to go.

"Who do you have next?" Penelope asked, a smile on her face as she looked at Ariao, though from the look in her eyes, it was clear she was trying to hide something.

"Ms. Magia. Physics, Chemistry, and History right after the other." Ariao sighed, shaking her head.

"Why do you have two science themed classes?" Avery asked with a frown, though half his attention was on Leonardo.

"That's what I planned for." Ariao said with a shrug, but there was something to her tone that darkened with the words and she looked away to pick up her backpack, missing the quick concerned glance that Penelope and Avery shared.

Spencer didn't realize how long he was in the bathroom before the bell rang to dismiss class. He nearly jumped out of his skin and snapped his head back up.
"Shit! I forgot the first day is a half day!" he exclaimed as he rushed up to the paper towels, dried his hair the best he could with some, then grabbed Rui's hall pass and bolted down the hall back to class as students began flooding out to switch rooms.

Leo wrote everything he could up until the bell, then started packing up his stuff. He listened in on the conversation with Penelope, Avery, and Ariao and realized he too had Ms. Magia next, as well as practically had the same schedule Ariao had, which was very odd. His face brightened as he looked up at Ariao, slinging his backpack over his shoulder. He didn't even notice Avery was staring at him.
"I think you and I have the same classed this year, Ariao. How ironic is that?" He grinned brightly again, realizing that he would have another chance to become acquainted with her again. "Do you Monday if I walked with you to class?" He looked to Avery and Penelope now too, assuming they had the same class next.

"I think we'd all rather you didn't." Avery growled out quietly, stepping closer to Leo. "Not with your little following." He said tightly, crossing his arms over his chest as he locked eyes with Leonardo.

"Leonardo." Arianna came over to them then and grinned at him, completely ignoring Ariao and her friends.

"Yeah, weird." Ariao mumbled before looking away from them when Arianna came over, slinging her hands into her pockets and turning towards the door. Just as she opened the door, she ran into Spencer, eyes wide in surprise when she nearly crashed into his chest. "There you are, Spencer." She said, her voice jumping up a bit in pitch when she realized how close she was to him.

Penelope cast a wary gaze over at Arianna before she turned towards the door, trotting over when she picked up Spencer's scent as well.

Avery remained where he was for a moment, eyes glinting dangerously before he turned and followed after his pack.

Leo glanced over at Avery, a bit taken aback by his hostility as well. He blinked innocently at him and shook his head. "Little following...? Apologies, I don't follow-" Arianna's voice cut him off. He turned his attention to her and his eyes lit up a bit. "Oh, Arianna... Hello," he replied back a bit quietly. He looked to Avery one more time, keeping contact with him for a few moments before he turned and followed after Penelope and Ariao. He furrowed his brow, not knowing what it was he did wrong to that little group. He was just trying to be friendly...
"Um... I don't think we had a chance to compare schedules yet, Ari. Who do you have next? Maybe I could walk you to class..." Since his kind offer was rudely shot down by the others. Maybe he was better off sticking with the friends he had now...

Spencer had the wind knocked out of him when he and Ariao collided. He blinked, a bit stunned, but his eyes lit up a bit when he saw it was Ariao he ran into and she greeted him at the door.
"Uh... S-Sorry... I forgot today was a half day of classes..." His cheeks flushed red and he took a step back to let students out. He lifted his gaze with embarrassment to Penelope. "Hey, P... Mind grabbing my stuff? Its just the black backpack..." He stepped aside and waited for the others next to the door. He kept his gaze off of Ariao and hung his head, rubbing the back of his neck nervously. *Not like I had just spent the rest of class thinking about her...* he muttered to himself, forgetting for a brief moment about the pack link.

"Sorry." Ariao looked down, her cheeks warm as he stepped away from her. "I kinda forgot too." She gave a shaky laugh, knowing it was rare she forgot details like that so easily.

"Sure." Penelope chirped, turning back and heading to where Spencer had been sitting. Just as she reached where his backpack was, she heard his voice over the link and paused.

If you had actually stayed long enough to watch what happened, you would have seen her shoot down the invitation to have lunch with him. Avery remarked over the link as he joined them.

Probably because he said something about another friend joining them, though. Penelope added softly. And from the way Arianna was acting, she could make a pretty good guess as to who would have joined them had she taken the offer.

"I have math next, what about you?" Arianna asked, casting a gloating look to some of the other girls as she grabbed his hand and started pulling him towards the door.

Spencer heard Ariao had made the same mistake he made and he smiled, his heart warming for a brief moment. However, the feeling faded when Avery sounded over the link, commenting on his previous thought. He couldn't respond to Avery before Penelope spoke.
*Another friend...? Oh, let me guess...* He shifted his gaze over to where he saw Arianna dragging Leo out of the room and frowned, eyes darkening.
*Arianna Rui... Why aren't I surprised...?* he huffed out a sigh from his nostrils and averted his gaze, crossing his arms as the mentioned culprit passed.

"Uh..." Leo responded, grinning sheepishly at the girls giving them looks before he responded to her. "I have Ms. Magia next... But don't worry, I'm sure I can get to her class on time..." He blinked at how tight her grip was on his hand as she continued dragging him down the hall. He looked back for a brief moment at Ariao as they passed, his gaze saddening. He hoped next class he could try again.

Do either of you have Ms. Magia next? Avery asked over the link as Penelope trotted back to them, holding out the bag for Spencer.

Not me. I'm off to gym. Penelope said with a brief frown before looking over at Spencer.

Ariao met Leo's gaze for a moment before turning away. Once Arianna had left with Leo into the crowded halls, she finally let out a sigh. "As long as I can go most of the day without seeing Jonas, I'm fine." She said, though it seemed she was speaking more to herself than to her friends as she pushed past them and headed in the opposite direction.

Once Ariao was out of earshot, Penelope let out a soft whimper. "I guess she's still not recovered from the trial." She said softly.

"I don't know if anything will really help her get over that. Being the one to put the person you looked up to for so long behind bars? How could it not be hard to deal with?" Avery said, shaking his head slowly.

*Ms. Magia...? Isn't she the chemistry teacher or something...?* Spencer asked as he opened his schedule and looked at it.
Coincidently enough, he had her.
*I have her. Why?* He looked up at Ariao as she mentioned Jonas. Just the mention of that name spiked his wolf's energy once again. "If Jonas so much as looks at you wrong, I will shred him on the spot," he growled as he pocketed his schedule and quickly walked to join Ariao's side. At the mention of Ariao's father, he was even more angered. *I'm glad he's behind bars, that's where he belongs,* he snarled back over the link, his skin heating up again. *I understand its hard for her... But her father is evil. How did that not register with her when she was younger? She told me all the stories about how controlling and abusive he was. He's lucky I have the sense to not show up to his jail cell and tear him to pieces too!* He wished he could sympathize with Ariao over her fsther, but what reason did he have to? In his opinion, she should be celebrating the fact that he's locked up. Besides... He didn't know what it was like to have parents, so he couldn't really relate to that sort of connection anyway.
"Who do you have next, Ariao?" Spencer asked, trying to distract her from her thoughts. "We need to compare schedules... Let's do that now."
