Graded [Nan Pass Village] Search for the Skythorn Blossom

Ooc So hopefully this post will bring us to the beginning of the combat. I'll describe the scene and the positions everyone is in. Use these posts to react/fight whatever your character needs to do to survive. Remember there's always another option.
TLDR: The bandit miners hear the commotion outside that Purpler caused and react. The party splits again. Aedrianna refuses to leave Purpler. Also where's Lulu?

The cold wind blew southwest. And from the north, the scent of a heavy musk drifted with it. At the entrance of the mine, a scene was beginning to transpire. The commotion that The Watching of Reflection had caused, brought out around four of the would-be bandits. They looked to be youthful beast kin of a variety. One young man had tawny hair and twitching bunny ears. Another had black hair with floppy black dog ears, and a tail that swished nonstop behind him. There was an old man among them with a white shaggy mane and beard. A pair of white cat ears twitching somewhere in the scruff, and a tail that twitched just as much. The one who seemed to be the leader among them was the second oldest, next to the old man. Not quite a youth anymore, but not quite what you would call a man. He had ginger red hair with a pair of large fluffy ears, and a twitching fox tail. They all looked to be covered in dirt and soot. Like they'd been digging for hours, and they looked tired.

< "What now?! We can't afford anymore distractions! We already lost half of the week's food supply."> The orange fox hollered as he turned about and scanned the area. The old man raised his hand and made a shushing noise.

< "Quiet down Haru. You want that bear t' come back? We ain' got no more salmon." > The old man heeded quiet, and they all complied. Quickly forming something of a defensive circle, each of their backs to each other. They fell silent for a moment, scanning the area, a couple of them gripping pickaxes tightly. It was the one with bunny ears that broke the silence and hollered.

< "Oi Oi! Look there! What's that?!"> He exclaimed, pointing above the mineshaft opening. There on the cliffs they could just make out something furry and purple climbing the cliffs and searching desperately. Scared and maybe a little frustrated, the bunny boy reached down and scooped up a rock. He chucked it as hard as he could towards the furry creature. <"Kill it!">

Aedrianna stared down at Hiruq in confusion. She seemed to be trying to piece together something complicated in her head, when Kota explained that a bear was coming. She shook her head. Hiruq was a very large wolf. He had lived in the paizu mountains before she'd met him. He wouldn't act like this for a bear. She watched him try to pantomime the imminent danger to Almeida, with the same concerned confusion. It wasn't until Rios came forward with his own concerns that she realized why exactly Hiruq was concerned. The area they were in was famous for dire beasts. Infact Nan Pass had just recently suffered a monster attack. This bear wouldn't be something to sneeze at. Hiruqs tail was swishing low and fast. His ears were flat against his head, but he stared very intently at Aedrianna. As if waiting. Rios suggested they find some sort of fish, and she couldn't help but blink and look pointedly at Noelle. Her eyes widening in fear as realization of the situation she'd put them all in slowly formed.

"Oh no...no no, you can't go fight that, it's much too dangerous! We should just go....back..." She paused and looked around, realizing that two of the original party were not there. "Where did Miss Lulu go?" She blinked, seeming to grow more and more concerned and fearful. Hiruq whined beside her, beginning to pace."And the Little purple buddy went ahead of us...oh no..." She started to look around, realizing that she'd never be able to live with herself if the corpse of a young woman and a purple floof were found after they ran. But she did not want to face a giant bear. She started getting flashbacks of the bug queen. Seeing Mr. Rios be thrown across the cave like a doll. She turned to look to Almeida, shaking her head as if to implore that she didn't go. That's about when the commotion of banging pots and pans could be heard in the distance.

<"Oi Oi! Look there! What's that?! Kill it!"> A voice in the distance could be heard, and more shouting following. Aedrianna looked at the others for a split second, her decision already made before she could really judge the intelligence of said decision. Her legs started moving and she took off. Breaking off the deer path they'd been walking, through the trees and back onto the main trail. She was running as fast as she could towards the entrance of the mine, where the noise was coming from. Hiruq whined, his tail still between his legs, but he took off at breakneck speed after her.

Those who'd decided they would brave the dire bear, followed the deer path with caution. The scene they crept up on was a gruesome one. A bear that reached nearly half the height of the trees around it, on all fours was lumbering through the forest. As the warriors approached, they could see and hear the dying throes of a deer, as its body was crunched in the massive jaws of a dire bear. Its hide had scars marring the brown fur, one eye seemed to be forever sealed shut, with infection oozing from it. It finished it's little snack, with one final sickening crunch, and slowly, lazily began to move forward, towards the noise that was being made South west. Near the entrance of the mine.

Ooc The warriors who've chosen to fight the bear, arrive on the scene crouched and hidden. The bear ate the deer in two bites, and it's making its way to all that noise at the mine entrance. I will be applying the combat rules loosely. To try and keep it fair and let everyone have a shot at the bear. Give this post a read if you're unfamiliar with the rules. Fantasy - Isekai Hell Rules more or less, just keep the actions to a limit os 3 and list what skills your character used if any.

Those who followed Aedrianna to the entrance of the mine, entered on a scene of something of a stand-off. Four beastkin men stood in a small circle. Half of them glaring up at the cliffside, where The Watching of Reflection seemed to be attempting to climb and find something. They were trying to pelt the purple creature with rocks, yelling and shouting at it to go. Aedrianna didn't stop in her running as she arrived. She sprinted to the group of men and stood between them, holding her hands up defensively.

< "Don't Hurt it! It's not bad!"> Hiruq, had skidded to a halt at the sight of four of the bandits, apparently not expecting Aedrianna to keep running. When she passed by him, he let out a loud whine and a yelp. He started to run after her, when a rock came pelting at him. It met his head with a meaty thunk. He yelped and slowed his run, crouching down and growling at the circle of Bandit miners. For their part, they looked confused and angry. Between the purple creature on the cliffside, the girl and the wolf, they were on edge.

< "What the hell are you doing here?! We can't have people being here! No ones Supposed to know!"> The man with orange hair and fox ears shouted at Aedrianna. His arm stretched out to grab a hold of hers, and as he did Hiruq leapt. Snarling he jumped at the orange fox man. However his attack was intercepted by the man with black hair and floppy ears. He held his pickaxe up horizontally, catching Hiruqs maw in it and kicking the large wolf away. Aedrianna yelled watching her friend go flying back.
<"Please don't hurt them! There's a bear coming! We just want our friend!"> She cried, looking up at the man with pleading eyes.

< "Easy now, easy Haru. Don'hurt the girl. Last thing we need is the guards coming for a missing person."> The old white cat tried to diffuse the situation, eyeing the large white wolf that was slowly picking itself up.

Ooc This situation is a time bomb. You have choices. Choose wisely. There are currently four total bandits. The black dog just shoved Hiruq back. The rabbit is throwing rocks at Purpler. The fox has a grip on Aedriannas arm. The old white cat is trying to calm everyone down. The scent of the bear is still wafting down wind. And getting stronger. By the time that the bear starts eating the deer, its body is just barely visible up on the cliff near the entrance of the mineshaft from below. Which is about when Hiruq gets kicked. To put things in perspective as best I can.

Almeida was a tad surprised when they green-blue-brown haired dude (Rios) was panicking. “[It's just a bear mate, I can hammer it down~]” She tried to have him calm down by the confident tone of her voice alone, as he probably wouldn't understand her words themselves.

She was equally surprised that the nine-tailed lass (Soreiel) didn't seem to want to run. “[Shoo, shoo!]” She waved at her, trying to make noises indicating she could (and should) run off. This was no place for someone so adorable.

The opposite held true for the Viking lass (Vilde). She couldn't understand the words, but the message was conveyed. She lifted her hammer with one hand to flex some muscle with a big grin. “[You and me girl~ Let's pound some bear into the ground!]” She was getting excited.

She did have a bone to pick with the mermaid (Noelle), but it was tough to stay mad at her. “<Friend friend.>” She stated after the sorry, declaring the previous <idiot> to have been withdrawn. She chuckled at seeing the mermaid retreat, as she got in front of the backing up girl. She'd get the bear before the bear could get to her fishy friend for sure.

The dog seemed to be nervous, still, so she'd give it some comforting words. “[Don't worry boy, I'll make sure your girl is kept safe as well. This bear won't know what it! Except it will, cause it'll be my buddy Valerius!]” She chucked at her own joke, then noticed Aedrianna shaking her head as well. She'd just give the girl a toothy grin and a thumbs up, then pointed at Soreiel, Noelle and Kota. Aedriana could run off with them whilst they'd get the bear down.

“[Bear hunt~ Bear hunt~ I'm going on a bear hunt~]” She sang as she headed onto the deer trail...

She was surprised by what she saw. “[Bloody hell, that's a big one...]” She mumbled underneath her breath. That wasn't a bear, that was a monster. She noticed her hand shook a little, but she was quick to hold Valerius tighter and stop it. If she was showing any fear now, they'd be doomed. She'd been the confident one charging in, so she should live up to that and give the others a shot at helping her beat down this monstrosity. After all, if they wouldn't deal with it now, it'd go to the others that seemed to head toward the mineshaft.

She took a deep breath, then called out. “[OI! OVERSIZED TEDDY BEAR. VALERIUS SAYS HE WANTS TO KNOCK YOUR TEETH OUT, SO I'M GOING TO INTRODUCE THE BOTH OF YOU FOR A LITTLE KISS!!! ]” She shouted at the bear, taking on a combat stance.

Assuming that was enough to make the bear head for her, she'd swing at it with a good [Hammer-On] to ensure it wouldn't instantly swipe or bite her in half.. or well, that was the hope/plan.

Using the flat side of the war-hammer, Almeida smashes up an area in front of her and knocks all opponents away with it. - Grade F – 1 Action – 0 post CD

Area - the technique allows for an attack that sweeps a large area 5ft in radius. Generally prompts would be targets that it is coming. Radius increases per grade to: 15ft, 50ft, 500ft, 1/2 mile, 5 miles.
Knockback - Action: 1 -this technique specializes in sending targets flying. The greater the grade of technique, the greater the potential distance a target may be force moved. See optional knockback rules for knockback table and other details.
Selective - Allows the user to choose who is affected by their weapon style techniques when used at range or in wide areas. Same for aura.
Accurate - the technique makes it so the target's speed is treated as though it were reduced by 1 letter grade. Amount reduced increases by 1 grade each time technique is upgraded.
Penetrating - can ignore grades of an item used to defend/counter. F - 1 grade, E - 2 grade, D - 3 grade, C - 4 grade, B - 5 grade, A - 6 grade, S ???
Multidimensional - somehow your attack defies the boundaries of reality allowing attacks to be capable of hitting ghosts, vapors, energies, and other nearly invulnerable targets and hurt them just as effectively as normal attacks.
Blight- Generally this is a technique that enhances an attack in some way to deal extra damage if effective. [Valkanite] – mineral that can burn someone.
Blind Fighter - Character has the ability to use the weapon in melee range in dim or no light situations as if they could see. (does not upgrade)

Watching of Reflection

Song Inspiration

Languages: Common | <Bestial>
Mentions: Moonberry Moonberry | Almeida Elvario Elvario

Watching of Reflection's paws or hands were wet of the layer of snow it had walked through, and the frosted damn rock it climbed upon, its fingers and nails muddied by dirt, as it held on with a tight grip. Its body shivered as it moved in tow, the higher cold wind pushing against its fur, whilst its gaze swept across the surrounding cliffside. One which it had been looking at in a hurry for the past few seconds, attempting to garner any luck in finding the Skythorn Blossom. Yet luck it had little of so far.

The critter's attention obviously parted for a moment, as finally the men who had been working inside the cavern had hurried outside, looking towards the surrounding environment, obviously. Tense as they were, its eyes affixed on them, as they made a hurried commotion, possibly making them far bigger points of attention now to the bear than ever before. Which might have been its intent, if it had decided to risk their safety in trade for the group's. However, hearing the man shout kill it, understanding perfectly their intent as the young man with bunny ears picked up a rock and tossed it in an attempt to hit and harm it. Not all too impressed with the height it had gained so far, yet then suddenly Aedrianna arrived at the scene.

Who began to defend it, trying to make the bandits stop their assault against it, obviously quite the predicament starting to unfold after her arm was even caught by one of the bandits. Discussion of a missing person being mentioned, whilst another tried their best to de-escalate everything that was going on, and an escalation of another kicking Hiruq who was defending Aedrianna, stammering it for a second. Before another predicament it hadn't thought would occur, as it began to hear the approaching footsteps of the bear, the scent of its musk carried by the wind coming closer.

It couldn't stop its body from trembling. It couldn't stop its instincts from kicking in, ones which screamed to run. The natural instinct of anything like it which understood that what was facing it felt like certain death, that if it got any closer to this monstrosity of a beast, it would naturally be the meal this time around. Pray tell, what motivated it to move forward how it did, could be questioned. However, it quickly climbed the cliffside after one final look towards Aedrianna.

Watching of Reflection moved as quick as it could, running through the cover of brushes, and keeping aware of the direction of the wind for its own scent. It raised its head to look up at the behemoth of a creature as it kept low to the ground, trying to glance out to see Almeida stand there out in the open. And though it didn't understand the content of what Almeida yelled out, as it watched the bear rush towards Almeida, even as its legs and arms trembled, it sprinted forward.

It could see the large weapon Almeida had carried on her back for so long, and even as Almeida wielded it with such strength, it still had a large arc to swing with. And quickly it tried to make the most of that fact, as it attacked with a [Spine Lunge], attempting to time it together with Almeida's [Hammer-On], whether the bear took the attack head on, or attempted to evade. As to take advantage of this small moment where the bear had placed its focus elsewhere. The spine held within Watching of Reflection's hand attempting to strike towards the femoral artery it hoped was there within the leg of the dire bear like that of any other bear it may have fought within its past. Its eyes glanced towards Almeida, whom must have surely noticed.

Rios was less than pleased to see that his companions did not have anything resembling Salmon. This meant that inevitably they would be forced to fight the massive bear. Almeida in particular seemed to be under the misguided assumption that what they were dealing with was your average brown bear. A mistake which Rios knew would be very costly to make considering the bear was big enough to fit entire barrels of salmon inside of its mouth. Rios knew Aedrianna would likely want the party to turn back given how dangerous things were getting.

Unfortunately their party was down two members, meaning that she'd have to go get them if they were to retreat anywhere anytime soon. Rios chose to follow the group who were heading toward the bear. Last time he met this beast, the world had been against him at every turn. Now he had no choice but to clash with this creature head on. Given that he wasn't the stealthiest person around. A cautious Rios saw the beast eating an entire deer with just a few bites. He hadn't forgotten how vicious this bear looked for a moment.

Almeida had made the first move with that massive hammer of hers. No doubt she had put the effort in to inflict as much damage as possible with that big weapon of hers. Rios could see Aedrianna attempting to dissuade the miner bandits from focusing on her party when there was a bear to be dealt with. Hiruq had been caught in the crossfire of that little stunt. The slave fox was also trying her best to ease tensions. Luckily one of the bandits who was present seemed the type to talk things out. There was nothing Rios could do since all he was good for was one thing, which he would now do to protect Aedrianna. Not the whole group, not himself, just Aedrianna. If he focused on one simple goal without letting himself fall off the slippery slope like before. Rios could at least do SOMETHING.

Rios waited until the bears attention was focused squarely on the much louder Almeida. He didn't need to think too much about how she would fare, that wasn't a luxury he had. This bear had a damaged and infected eye, limiting its vision. Beasts had sharper senses than even some of the more powerful races. All Rios needed to do was eliminate ONE of them. Imagining the eye of this creature was the Guild Master. Rios kicked off the ground while gripping his katana. Unsheathing the blade in an Iai strike with murderous intent, Rios put his faith in luck to see him through.

In answer to Almeida's affirmative hammer lift, Vilde pounded her shield with her fist. "Yeah, we got this!"

When she finally saw the bear for herself however, Vilde was, in a word, impressed. Awestruck, even. Certainly, the bears back home didn't get this big. Mostly, Vilde was ever so slightly terrified. She felt her knees knock and her stomach churn at the strong stench of the beast's musk and the sickening crunch emanating from the its maw. "By the fates..."

Vilde did her best to stow her fear, clutching her shield tight to her. When Almeida attempts to get the bear's attention, Vilde grits her teeth and prepares herself.

"Valhall awaits me!!" Vilde cries out as she runs off by Almeida's side. Vilde tries her best to charge in with her, and attempts to [Shield Bash] the bear, throwing in all her strength alongside Almeida's hammer.

Kota raised an eyebrow towards Soreiel who had been hiding her face as she replied to him. It would have been a bit difficult for Kota to pick up what she was saying if he didn’t possess enhanced hearing. He shrugged, “Well, if you change your mind don’t be afraid to ask.”

The sound of the bear's large footprints only seemed to get louder and louder, Kota looked towards Almeida who was keen on taking the bear on. The two-tailed kitsune folded his arms, perhaps if others assist then just maybe? As long as the majority came to a consensus then it will work out which seemed to be the case. Even the other kitsune was willing to fight. Aedrianna and Noelle were rather reluctant to fight the bear bringing up the point that Lulu and the little purple dog were gone. Abandoning them to the bear would label them dead for sure, the Kitsune surely understood the sentiment of Aedrianna shouldering that guilt. Kota’s ears would shoot up as he picked up on the sound of shouting in the distance. Before he could turn back to the group Aedrianna had already taken off running in said direction, Soreiel in tow. Kota grumbled under his breath as he turned to the group. “I’m going to go after them, there are voices ahead” Kota mentioned to the rest of the group.

He examined everyone who seemed to be adamant about combating the bear with a concerned look on his face. Almeida was standing tall and proud leading the charge, even though she had a few screws loose she was as tough as nails. The Viking woman alongside her looked equally as tough along with Rios who seemed to have some experience with the beast. He had faith they would make it out alive. Kota would take off to chase after Aedrianna and Soreiel, as he arrived on the scene the Kitsune would notice Hiruq to the side snarling while one of the miners seemed to have captured Aedrianna. The older gentlemen called to the man orange-haired beast-kin as Haru, the older man seemed to be trying to diffuse the situation at hand.

“He is right, if anything were to happen to her then the guards would come searching. There is also a dire bear on its way here right now, you should leave while you still can. Pickaxes aren’t enough to defend yourself.” Kota tried to make the most of the old man’s reluctance and sway the others to let go of Aedrianna. If they weren’t privy to the idea proposed then lethal force would be needed.

On the top of the hill, the battle against the bear waged. Almeida's taunt had earned the interest of the dire bear. It turned, beginning to lope towards her. It was Massive and slow, but it was charging. The warrior swung her hammer just in time, and Valerius struck true. Landing a heavy blow on the bears head from the side. At the same time, Vildes battle cry rung out and her shield smashed the bears head from the other side. Making something of a bear, hammer, shield sandwich. The [Knockback] from both the battle maidens' attacks forced them both back several feet after making their attack. The bear let out a howling roar, but it didn't even have time to shake its head. A purple blur scrabbled up from the side of the cliff rushing towards the bear. The Watching of Reflection Lanced the creatures back leg with its spine in its hand. The beast let out another raging growl. Starting to stand up on its hind legs. As it did, Rios came in from the side, aiming at the it's bad eye with a vengeance. His sword came down in a clean arc., slicing the infected eye open, and spewing blood and puss all over. But the strike was hard on the sword. A crack began to show in the blade, before Rios could sheathe his blade.

Reeling now, the sound of the bear grunting and roaring in pain filled the entire area. Shaking its head, dripping blood from its ruined eye and its maw, the beast swayed slightly. Everything at once had taken the bear by surprise. Instinctually, it shook its back leg to get rid of the creature still close to the throbbing pain. The Watching of Reflection was thrown a few feet, rolling across the ground and crashing into the base of a tree. Immediately after, a massive paw came crashing down to swipe at the target it could reach. Namely Rios.

Down below, The group seemed at a standstill. Hiruqs scruff was standing on end, and he was growling, looking intently at Haru. But he did not lunge. Despite one arm being held by Haru, Aedrianna held her hand up to keep Hiruq at bay. The orange fox looked over at Sorieiel with a mixture of frustration and confusion. His eyes widened and the fear in them doubled when Kota spoke, hi grip lightening on Aedriannas arm. The old man's hand came up slowly behind him to rest on his shoulder.

<"Alright Haru...It's done. Let her go. We got bigger problems."> At the old cat's words, the rabbit boy gave a shrill shout.

<"Oi, Oi! It's that feckin kid again! And he brought the bear! Again!"> The voice of the young bunny boy shrilled. He turned tail and scrabbled away from the little circle, running for the entrance of the mine. Shouting the whole way
bunnyboy.png

<"We're going to die."> Haru said, hopelessly as his hand fell from Aedriannas arm. Staring up at the cliff where the screams of battle could be heard. <"If it isn't the bear here, it'll be the boss."> The man seemed completely drained and barren of any hope. Aedrianna rubbed at her arm, slowly stepping towards Hiruq, now that the purple friend was no longer their target. The white wolf seemed slightly appeased, sniffing her arm slowly.

<"I don't know what you are doing here...and it's not my business."> [color] Aedrianna took another step to go and stand next to the shivering Sorieiel. <"But Mr. Kota is right. You should get away while you can. Our friends are fighting the bear now...You might be able to get somewhere safe if you hurry."> Her words were soft and cautious, but her eyes were on the hill above them. The little circle had broken down one by one. Not long after the young bunny boy the dogeared beast kin started running too, dropping his pickaxe as he ran He ran in the direction of the town. All that was left was the old white cat and the fox, who looked despaired. The white cat looked at Kota.

<"That's your party up there? Fightin' that thing?"> He asked seeming both impressed and concerned. Aedrianna looked from Kota to the cliff and the old white cat. She seemed torn.

<"I can't fight...and I'm scared...but I can't just run away either. If...If someone gets hurt, I can heal them."> She looked between Sorieiel and Kota. <"What should we do? Should we go up there to try and help?">

TLDR/OOC Almeida and Vilde struck a blow. The Watching of reflection punctured a femoral artery. Rios slashed the bear's eye. Almeida and Vilde are pushed back by each others knockbacks. The Watching of Reflection is thrown a little ways back, and a massive paw is coming towards Rios. Half the miners ran from fear, one into the mines shouting, the other into town. Haru let Aedrianna go, and Aedrianna asked Sorieiel and Kota what they should do to help the party.

Almeida had a tad bit of trouble trying to follow along the flow of events. It seemed like Soreiel had ran off after all, which was good. Less folk to worry about protecting. Somehow, Purpler had managed to rush towards the bear, for reasons unknown to her. She didn't mind though, as with this bear being a tad more size-able than expected, all help was welcomed and the purpler creature seemed to know what it was doing well enough. She also noted Rios join in the attack, along with Vilde replying to her and then joining in as well.

She clicked her tongue after seeing Purpler getting knocked away and the bear readying to mow down Rios. She indistinctively shouted at the bear in her other native tongue, although 'shouting' was an odd word for it, as it consisted of a pattern of on-and-offs of angry noises. “%01001001 00100000 01110011 01110111 01100101 01100001 01110010 00100000 01001001 00100111 01101100 01101100 00100000 01110100 01110101 01110010 01101110 00100000 01111001 01101111 01110101 00100000 01101001 01101110 01110100 01101111 00100000 01100001 00100000 01110011 01110100 01100101 01110111 00100001%”

Even though her noise likely wasn't understood, her actions likely would be. With the bear standing up on its hind legs its massive stomach was ripe for the taking. “%01001100 01100101 01110100 00100111 01110011 00100000 01100111 01100101 01110100 00100000 01111001 01101111 01110101 00100000 01100011 01101111 01101111 01101011 01101001 01101110 01100111 00100001%” She made a few more on-and-off noises as she headed back into the fray to [Jab] the pointed end of Valerius into the bears now-exposed stomach, hoping to set it on fire from the inside-out and halt it from further attacking her allies.

Trying to encourage herself and her allies, fighting the feeling that her hands might shake at approaching such a giant monstrosity, she yelled out again. “[Who's hungry for grilled bear stew?!?!]”

What to do? What to do? Aedriana ran off in the direction of the mine and the bandits worried about the purple creature that went that way. She was followed by Soreiel and Kota. Almeida, Rios and Vilde went after the dire bear. Noelle didn’t know what she should do. Contract wise she should follow the alchemist girl. This was also the safest option as dealing with a bunch of bandits could hardly be any more dangerous than fighting a big scary fish-hungry bear. But what about the others? They were strong, no doubt about that. But would they be able to handle such a threat?

Noelle took a moment to panic while she tried to make a decision. Neither of the options was great because she would have to get closer to the bear, which she didn’t want. What if it notices her and wants to eat her!? But she has to do something. Running away was not going to solve anything. She took a few deep breaths and started to run after the group that was fighting the bear. Even if she did not have the skills to fight a bear and if her help would be inadequate. She could always serve to distract the bear. And with Kota and Soreiel with Aedriana, the alchemy girl is at least protected.

She could feel her heart beating faster and faster as she got closer to where the fighting was. It would be an understatement to say she was nervous if the beast was as terrifying as others made it sound. But if she would let anything happen to her allies she could have done something. That is something she didn’t want to bear.

When she arrived at the scene she saw that the giant bear was reeling from the sandwich strike of Almeda and Vilde. Its eye was exciting blood and pus which was a little sickening to behold. The bear let out a few terrifying growls and kicked the purple creature against a tree nearby. It was hard to see if the creature was hurt or anything. But Noelle hoped it was able to move so it could run if needed. The bear then swiped down towards Rios.

For now, the monster was distracted and hadn't noticed Noelle’s arrival. This was her chance. She took her lute in hand and moved closer towards the Nordic warrior woman. "hey! Vilde was it? Get ready to knock that thing down!" Noelle said and started to cast [Warrior’s march] on Vilde. She played an upbeat song of war that filled the female warrior with vigour raising her strength efficiency by one level for the rest of the battle. As she started playing Noelle started to walk toward the blind side of the bear staying enough distance away from it that it could not directly attack the mermaid without moving or lunging to reach her. She used [focus F] to keep playing with her buff as she was walking. The mermaid hoped the fight was not going to be that long. However, she might look calm and confident now. A keen eye would notice her hands are slightly trembling at the thought of what the bear might do.

Sorriel looked at the group of beastkin as Aedrianna tried to diffuse the situation, seeing that her dog had stepped between her and them. She saw that they almost didn’t even acknowledge her presence “oh why am I surprised, I’m just a slave, I’m not worth acknowledging, I just hope they make it away from the bear” she thought to her self before she noticed the purple creature known as Watching heading up the hillside to aid the others in fighting the bear.

Soreiel was surprised when Kota had decided to come and help Aedrianna with the beastkin miners instead of helping with the bear. She thought about asking him why he came to them but couldn’t as he had also started talking with the miners.

She then spotted the bunny boy run into the mine and the dog men running towards town, all dropping their pickaxes leaving the old white cat which seemed to be the only that had any sense of the situation. Soreiel was then brought out of her mind when Aedrianna stood close to her and looked at her then Kota asking what they should do.

“I don’t know…. Miss Aedrianna, I don’t really know how to fight, I’ve never had to before…” she admitted as she looked at her then up the hill at the others fighting the bear.

Watching of Reflection felt a sickening crunch hit its chest, the sound itself even audible from its own ear for a moment, before replaced by a high-pitched feeble shrill sound. Its own eyes glazed over for a moment as it could feel the sensation of it having impacted something with its back moments priors. Yet afterward had fallen over before it even had become aware of it. Keeping itself up on hands and knees, its eyes stared down on the snowy texture below it, as blood streaked down its snout and trickled onto the ground.

Looking upward towards the bear, its senses quickly returning to it, it looked upon the spine still piercing the back of the bear's leg. The muscular cord letting out a flow of blood from the artery, as it had been stretched thin and snapped from the sheer velocity the critter had been sent flying.

It could feel a chilling pain hit its own body as it breathed air through its lungs, the horrible sensation of the broken bone and torn tissue which would become a bruise. The recognisable sensation, as without its own will pushing such forward, it began to feel its muscles push the broken bone back into place. Bone still as broken as was for now, but it would function.

As it stood up, pushing off with its arms and standing on its two legs it looked toward Almeida, Rios and Vilde who were still in such proximity to the beast, dealing with it facing their own troubles. Seeing the fact that it had entirely lost the focus of this monstrosity once more, as Almeida continued to barrage it with attacks, Watching of Reflection scurried forward as quick as it could.

Its feet carrying it forward, even as the pain caused it to visibly wince with each quickened breath.

Yet it ignored this, it didn't want to die, nothing did. Same as it ignored this awe-struck fear that still coursed through its system. Rushing forward, it scuttled against the leg of the monstrosity, and began to climb using the sturdy surface of its hair. Going upward as far it could, knowing it had to be careful that whilst climbing up from the back begets less danger of its limbs. Yet if for whatever reason they succeeded in toppling it down, it would bear the brunt of its weight.

Attempting to hold on with the hussle and tussle of this monstrosity, to climb as it was preoccupied upon its back, with a remaining hollow bone tail spine it could pull out from its own tail. Thrusting downward, aiming for the centre base on the back of the neck. Stabbing down, hoping for where the spinal column to be. Unless ample opportunity would strike due to Almeida's attempts changing the situation as was, and it being able to climb to the top of its head. In an attempt to rather pierce its remaining eye to hopefully severely hamper the creature.

Vilde landed a few feet away from the bear, her boots dug into the ground. She growled harshly, taking in the battlefield before her; the now injured bear, blood and pus gushing from its infected eye as it reared back on its hind legs.

When Noelle played her lute, Vilde felt a strange surge of energy deep in her core, like her very blood was on fire. She pulled her sword from its scabbard and clutched it tight, rushing into the fray to strike again.

Vilde gives a roar of utter bloodlust and attempts to slice her sword right into the bear's flank.

Rios felt a whole bunch of emotions in that moment the massive paw of the bear was coming toward him. Surprise, unease, concern and even fear. However it was when he felt afraid of the claws that would soon rend his flesh that Rios finally reacted in the moment. Almeida had retaliated against this creature with that massive weapon of hers. The little purple creature had also joined the fray. Taking advantage of their far more noticeable actions. Rios grabbed one of his sheathed katana and smacked the paw coming towards him with the handle of the weapon in a kind of makeshift parry. Witnessing the viking woman attempting her own very simplistic looking attack.

An eager Rios allowed Vilde to become the target of the bears rage. Right now he needed to get into position elsewhere so he could find a way to kill the bear without having to risk too much. As long as people such as Vilde were willing to be his meat shields, then Rios could find a far more effective solution to their bear problem. One might think Rios was being exceptionally cold. Those people were very much correct. A fight like this required those with less power to lay down their lives for those that do.

Aedrianna was still behind them watching the proceedings. Hopefully she wouldn't do something so ridiculous as attempt to help them given that her track record of helping resulted in far more urine than assistance. It was then he saw the purple weasel attempt to claw at the healthier of the bears eyes. Rios saw this as something he could perhaps utilize for his own plans to take down this bear.

Kota was relieved to see that the miners used better judgment and decided not to pick a fight. Words are just as powerful as violence when it comes to persuading others. The kitsune would take note of the group stating their boss would be upset. Shortly the group would come to disband only leaving the old beast kin.

“Thank you for not picking a fight.” Kota before turning back towards the noise of combat behind him. “Yes, those are our comrades fighting. You should take the chance to escape while the bear is distracted.” He advised the man before turning to the girls. As they both were unsure on what to do. Kota was a bit reluctant to give out instructions but this wasn’t the time to shy away from leadership.

“Let us worry about the bear, we can handle it, you two worry about finding what we came here for while you still have the chance.” Kota replied to both of them, he felt a bit awkward about giving out orders but he believed they were the best course of action. They weren’t fighters, putting them in direct danger would be foolish.

Kota would turn his back as he left to rejoin the bear brigade, “if you need me just call” he smirked before running out of the mine to see the others engaging the bear. The beast was larger than Kota could have imagined, clearly this bear was at the top of the food chain. He was relieved to see no one was turned into bear chow. Almeida seemed to be leading the charge, raining down heavy blows while Vilde, Rios, and the purple dog followed up with their own attacks. Noelle seemed to be providing support for afar. Despite the group never fighting together they knew their roles.

“Hey, save some for me!” he smirked as he clenched his right fist, magic energy began to condense in the limb as Kota closed in on the beast. The kitsune would sidestep in the same direction as Vilde following up her attack with a right hook to the beast’s flank. Releasing the condense ball of energy built up in his fist on contact.

The bear's paw was thwarted by Rios's sheathed deflect. He just barely managed to escape the massive blow. As soon as he'd jumped back, the bear was skewered by the pointy side of Valerian, which was effectively cauterizing the wound from the inside. The bear let out an agonized howl, that eerily drifted alongside Noelles music. As the bear teetered back in pain, it became obvious that The Watching of Reflection had gained a good purchase on the bears shoulders and head. It looked as if it was about to try and stab at its neck, when Vildes powered horizontal slice came through the bears flank. The small creature took the opportunity to scratch the bears good eye out. Another roaring growl of pain, with several deep chuffs and grunts escaped the bear, as blood was beginning to matte its fur. It shook its head vigorously to try and get rid of the unwelcome rider. A white figure appeared from the cliffside, with quick foot work. Kota moved easily beside Almeida and thrust his Fox Fist against the Bears torso. The watching of reflection was forced to either jump off or hold on for dear life as the bear began to go into panic mode. It was wounded now, for certain. It roared ferociously in Almeida and Kotas face. Frantically swiping at anything in front of it, as it fell back down onto all fours. But without its sight, it only had its sense of smell to go on. And the one with a particularly strong scent, happened to be making a peculiar sound as well.

Its head jerked towards Noelle as her fingers plucked the instrument in her hands. It snarled and began to charge towards her blindly, shouldering past Kota and Almeida without seeming to realize it. As it began to charge at her, a white blur came in from the side. Hiruq charged in and latched himself onto the bears neck, his ears flat and a low menacing growl emitting from his throat as he crunched down on bone with his maw.

Down at the bottom of the cliff, near the entrance of the mine shaft; Aedrianna and Sorieiel remained, along with the two miner bandits. The old white cat was doing his best to ease Haru and convince him to get up and leave. The orange fox seemed to be having some sort of a break down.

<"Boss is never goin' to accept this....might'as well just let the bear eat me."> He moaned, as the old white cat practically carried him to the mine shaft. Aedrianna watched them with a bit of concern, but her attention mostly remained on the battle up on the cliff. She looked torn.

<"I feel so useless...But I did come here for the Skythorn Blossom."> She turned to look at Sorieiel. <"Grans book says it should be right above the mineshaft....but the bear is a little too close for us to take the easy way."> She pointed to the metal protruding from the cliff, that was the entrance of the mineshaft. <"If I can help you reach a good footing, do you think you can pull me up, and we can try and look for it there. We won't be near the bear, but it's close to where they're supposed to bloom."> She asked Sorieiel quietly, with a frown. Then before an answer could even be given, she trotted over to the spot she'd pointed and cupped her hands, creating a foot hold for Sorieiel. <"You remember what it looks like right?">

The white kitsune slave just stared up at the battle with the bear raging as some of her companions were trying to defeat the beast. ‘I wonder what such a beast would taste like, it has been a long time since master gave me a proper meal’ after that thought she felt her stomach rumble a bit aggressively ’come to think of it… when was the last time I ate something?’ She asked herself before her mind was brought back to the present as Kota had said something before running off to join the others against the bear.

She then heard the fox bandit screaming in terror, saying something about he’d rather die by the bear then face their boss, she didn’t quite understand his reasoning, but also saw the white cat bandit trying to comfort him and bring him back to his senses.

Suddenly Aedrianna was addressing her “h..huh?” Soreiel asked between a couple shivering breaths, not really paying attention to what she had said but then remembered the job, they were there to look for a flower. However before she could confirm it with Aedrianna, the girl pointed out the metal structure that made up the mine entrance and ran for it without giving Soreiel a chance to respond, once they she saw the girl stand in a way that suggested she be used as step up the hill. ‘Does she want to send me up there to look for the flower?’ She asked herself as she looked at Aedrianna standing just under an outcropped boulder to just above the mine where she wanted to go, her heightened vision allowed her to see something that looked very similar to the flower they were after. She turned her attention back to the girl and ran up to her, removing her coat and scarf placing them on a nearby surface to keep them from getting damaged, this gave Aedrianna a good look at her revealing outfit, and more specifically, the black metal collar around her neck.

Soreiel looked at Aedrianna with a weary smile, the cold having a more drastic effect on her now. “W..w…what d..do y…y..you n..need?” She asked as she was shivering harder

She was surprised to see Purpler take out the bear's other eye. What a vicious little fellow. Her ears were ringing rather loudly after the bear nearly roared her eardrums out. It's forceful swinging and swiping had forced her to withdraw a bit, as she doubted she'd be able to defend herself against such panicked ferocity. She was a tad into panic mode when the thing headed for her again.. only to boulder past her and … at Noelle. Oh boy, her fishy <lake idiot friend> might not end up doing well if that thing hit her.

Before she could get to it, Hiruq already did, which meant she'd have to be careful not to get the puppy caught up in her attack. Luckily enough, Hiruq was aiming for the throat. “[I'll try slicing a hind-leg off!]” She called out... to nobody in particular, as nobody would understand. She didn't really have the time to draw it either. The best she could do was hope that nobody would get in the way.

Rios was pleased to see his deflection had worked, even if not as smoothly as he would have liked. He made a mental note to actually train his ability to deflect at some point. Now that they had worn down the bear's sight. The next course of action was to take out its other senses. However the way it was currently dashing towards the fish girl was less than optimal for this strategy. It only opened up a very few avenues for attack. Rios placed a hand on his katana and chose to push forward. Dashing forward with his thumb slowly pushing the katana from its sheath. A surprised Rios saw Hiruq latch onto the bear with his canine maw. He couldn't deny the animal was spirited given it was challenging a creature twice its size. This only motivated Rios... to use Hiruq as yet another asset for his own plans. As long as Hiruq didn't die, he wouldn't need to feel bad if the beast got a few scratches.

Moving behind the bear and awaiting the moment it had dedicated itself fully to the attack on their fishy friend. Rios grasped the handle of his sword and put a lot more effort into his sword strike than before. His target was the back of the bears knees on the hind legs. If he could cut through those, the beast would be heavily crippled in its ability to move. A cruel but incredibly pragmatic move from Rios. All that mattered was that the beast died and they won. Hiruq's survival was the biggest side benefit of this clash but in the event he was killed. Rios was sure he would not be at fault. A flicker of steel aimed at the back of the bears legs was Rios's answer to its attempts to eat their semi-aquatic friend.

After that, rather than simply move out of the way. Rios chose to keep pushing forward, climbing onto the bear right foot first. No matter how the beast struggled, surely it would not be able to shake he and Hiruq off now that it had been injured so thoroughly. His next target was to be its ears. Chopping those off would continue his plans to cripple this creature to the point where an easy kill could be obtained.

The little critter hanged on tightly as it pierced the eyeball of the Bear with its spine, pulling it outward, before suddenly almost feeling its eardrums burst. As its sensitive ears were laid bare to the roaring bellow of pain from the bear. One which was so loud that perhaps one could have heard it across the entire forest valley that laid between two peaks of the mountains here. Feeling the sensation of the bear's movement, which began to grow chaotic and irrational. It had to act quickly in response to such, with a downward thrust of its spine towards the bridge of the nose of this monstrosity. Certainly attempting to injure the great beast, yet with a different focus in mind as well. As it attempted to pierce where most of the facial muscle could be found, hopefully even within a bear, and if successful would hold onto the hair of the beast with its hands and gripped with its feet. Whilst its tail constricted itself around the spine, which was hopefully stuck in the very angry facial muscles of the bear, in order to act as an additional point to hang onto it, without getting thrown off course. Hoping with the fact of Hiruq biting down upon its thick neck to somewhat slow down its chaotic movements.

However, as it could see the bear rushed forward, it made a split second decision which it could possibly regret most of all. However, it understood that's what it wanted to do, rather than the risk of the bear tearing at the flesh of any victim. As the critter took off one of its hand from strong grip of the hair. Relying on its other limbs to stabilize as the bear rushed forward and ripped the skin from its palm by using the far shorter spines on its tail, and planted it directly in front of the nose from the bear. Attempting to allure its sense of scent as it huffed and puffed with its nose right in front of it in order to gather Noelle's location. And preparing itself for what could possibly become one of the first dire bear rodeos.

This choice of actions would of course be invalidated depending on how exactly both actions stated by Almeida or Rios had gone. In their attempts to slash off, or disable its hind legs which had already been injured by Watching of Reflection. As one of its spines was left, impaling it there. If there was an actual case of the beast being left hampered, and unable to properly stabilize itself or move. Then Watching of Reflection would make an attempt instead to finish it, if possibly before Rios could cruelly cripple the creature. Moving with the same pace as it had climbed the beast before, and piercing its spinal cortex.

The frenzied cacophony that surrounded her on the frontlines of battle was almost too much for her to keep up with, but in this chaos, Vilde felt strangely at home. She braced herself with her shield as the beast's pained bellows echoed throughout the forest. Her ears rang as she clutched her whetted blade, and the now blinded direbear made a beeline straight for Noelle.

Seeing her companions already moving to wound the beast further, Vilde gives chase as well. She took what brief moments she had to survey the situation, watching Purpler gallantly ride the bear like a majestic steed of war as Rios and Almeida attempt to take out the beast's legs. If the bear has been incapacitated, she will climb on top with Rios and Purpler and attempt to stab her sword between its ribs. If it hasn't, she will attempt to stab into its hip while on the move.

Ooc/TLDR Combat should be winding down; I'll say this next round can be any finishing moves to finish off the beast, before we'll reunite the party. The bear has been brought down, one of its hind legs all but torn completely off. It still writhes in agony and snaps its jaws and swings its claws blindly. Noelle is just barely out of reach. Rios and The Watching of Reflection can attempt to maintain a hold of the bear and keep their purchase on the bear. Rios, Vilde, and Almeida are covered in blood. Which makes the gripping things just slightly harder.

Though Hiruq had launched himself at the bears neck, the size difference between the two beasts was obvious. As big as Hiruq was, he dangled from the bear, hanging on by his fangs. Almeida rushed towards the back of the bears legs and swung Valerian in a long arc, with her own mechanical war cry. The sharp end of the hammer digging into the hind leg. Penetrating and tearing deep into the muscle. Her attack was followed quickly by a heavy slash from Rios. The bears back leg began to give out, and The Watching of Reflection was forced to rodeo the bear again, as it was falling back on its all but severed hind leg. The purple creature managed the feat with a wild grace, reaching out with its spine again to stab down on the nasal cavities of the bear. An agonized scream of pain ripped from the massive beast. The stench of the immolated wound from earlier mixed with the metallic scent of heavy blood loss, as the life source began to spew from the bear. Almeida was covered in it, as were the two currently climbing the falling beast. Hiruq was forced to release his hold, falling to the ground with a thud. He was quick to push himself back up. Though there was a slight falter in his steps, as he moved to find another launching point.

Vilde had reached the bears shoulder, hand over hand. Even as the bear began to fall, she managed to hold fast to the blood slicked fur. And with her blade in hand, she thrust it up between the ribs of the monster. Another roar of pain filled the winter air, sending a flock of crows flying for safer perching grounds. Rios had just reached the top of the beasts' hind quarters when Vildes attack hit. Though the fur was slippery from the blood he was covered in, he managed the feat of climbing onto the bears back. Once the beast had fallen back onto its bad leg, it swung a massive arm up. Sending Vilde flying back to slam against a tree. As well the Watching of Reflection was finally thrown from the bears head, to tumble down its back. Rolling straight into Rios, knocking him back and almost completely off the bear. They both barely manage to grasp on and remain if they wish. The bears claw swiped out in front of it blindly, its massive maws snapping wildly. Noelle was only just out of reach of the bears claws. Kota was quick to rush in, channeling his fox fire into his shoulder and bull rushing the bears head from the side. The momentum and force of the blow sent the bear teetering onto its side, groaning the whole way down.

Aedrianna watched Sorieiel drop the coat and climb up. She stared at the collar for a moment, blinking up at the girl. Then quickly she picked the jacket back up, reached up to hoist herself up using Sorieils hand. Though the scrabble seemed to take the breath out of her, she managed to find decent footing along the ridge in the cliff they'd climbed up onto. The metal protruding from the entrance of the mineshaft made for good climbing holds and would allow them to shuffle along the ridge on the cliff side to search for the blossom without having to actually climb much. Aedrianna spread the coat back over Sorieiels shivering shoulders.

<"Listen Ms. Sorieiel. I don't know where you're from...But here in Kuridan, Beastkin like you are considered first rate citizens."> She scooted herself closer to the cliff, grasping onto whatever hold she could. But her eyes remained on the Kitsune girl. <"My papa promised to tell the guards. That doesn't mean you're going to be in trouble. The guards will help take that thing off you..."> She trailed off as the sound of the bear screaming in agony filled the area, and the crows took off in a cloud of black. She drew in a shaky breath and cast a glance around them. <"I hope you can tell...the people up there are fighting so that we don't have to. So... try and take some pride in....being someone worth protecting."> She offered a smile, before she began to start searching for the blossom.

Thudding against the larger frame of Rios the little critter that was Watching of Reflection, looking upwards towards him as it stood there, for a moment trying to balance itself. As it could begin to feel the restless movement of the bear slow, given time, the obvious factor of so much blood loss even with the adrenaline that might have been coursing through its body. Almost unable to muster anything but the attempts of something fearing its own death, the dire bear, though seeming quite a monstrosity with its horrid visage, was just an animal like it after all. A situation far past backed into a corner and trying to defend its own life, one could question just how aware of the fact that no matter what it did now, there was no surviving the wounds it had suffered.

How much had it realised yet as its muscle tensed in its hind quarters that it had lost its hind legs, or was it all a matter of shock still in just how quick everything occurred. Of course, it wouldn't ever be afforded such time. As Watching of Reflection looked toward Rios who stood there blade at the ready eyeing the bear as he did. Before looking towards Almeida, as it clapped its hands to garner attention, knowing it could not speak to utter a single word. Pointing towards the neck of the bear, which had been become matted with blood from the wounds suffered by Hiruq. Before its fingers pointed towards the large weapon wielded by her which would surely in one cut with enough heft to the swing cut through.

It then looked towards Rios, with a vacant expression that of course nobody could really glean anything out of. Before it climbed down the bear and began to head towards where it hoped Aedrianna would still be. As its head poked out from above the cliffside, its eyes looking towards Aedrianna who had started climbing up to find purchase and search for any of the Skythorn Blossoms. She could see it hold one of its spines within one hand, its stance almost ready for combat. Before visibly calming down, as its body lost its posture and it held the spine within its tail. As it began to climb downward to assist her in hopefully gathering some Skythorn Blossom.

She watched as Vilde and Purpler and Rios all got thrown away from the near-death bear. As she was being showered in bear blood, she could feel Valerius slipping out of her grasp. “[That got rather bloody, hasn't it buddy?]” She asked her hammer.

That's when she spotted Purpler pointing at the bear's neck after it clapped to get her attention. “[Oh my, you want me to do the honours?!?]” She smiled a blood-covered smile, as she quickly tried drying off her hands on her clothing to get a better grip.

Heading over to the bear before it could try to get back up, she raised Valerius high. “[For being scary, ugly, gross. For harming my friends and nearly killing and eating us, I hereby sentence you to... Death!]” She called out, as she brought the bladed cycle-side of Valerius down upon the bear's neck with another Slice 'n Dice, hoping to lob its head right off.

Assuming that'd work, she'd turn towards where she saw Vilde fly off too. “[You okay?]” She called out, even though she knew the woman wouldn't exactly understand her.

She looked back at the bear. It was a bit of a shame its eyes were clawed out and all, otherwise it might've made for a cool trophy. Perhaps she could still use some of its meat for a good stew? Then again, she was no chef, so she had no clue how she'd prepare this thing.

Action 2/3: Slice 'n Dice

[Slice 'n Dice] – Vampiric F (1 action), Drain [Vitality] F (1 action), Accurate F, Penetrating F, Multidimensional, Blight [Valkanite] F, Blind Fighter
Using the bladed side of the war-hammer she slashes an opponent to drain them and heal herself. - Grade F – 2 Actions – 0 post CD
Vampiric - Drains some of the target's life and heals the attacker with it. The grade of the tech core matches the maximum amount of vitality that can be absorbed from a target at one time. Max amount of healing can only be reached by dealing equivalent or greater amounts of damage to the target.
Drain [Vitality] - weakens target by one letter grade in one of their stats on successful damage. The forms the technique take could be varied based on the stat impacted. Afflicted targets regain stats 1 grade per in rp hour. The stat it drains must be defined in advance and remain that way. Does not stack with multiple uses. The drain only weakens the stat's for the purposes of action effectiveness and not to disarm or nullify skills.
Blight - Generally this is a technique that enhances an attack in some way to deal extra damage if effective. [Valkanite] – mineral that can burn someone.
Blind Fighter - Character has the ability to use the weapon in melee range in dim or no light situations as if they could see. (does not upgrade)

Soreiel worked on helping Aedrianna up the ledge, but once Aedrianna put Soreiel’s coat back on her she freaked out. “No! I can’t let masters coat get damaged, if I bring it back damaged he’ll rip one of my tails out” she protested but didn’t do anything to remove the coat. After they both got to where the blossom was supposed to be Soreiel just looked at the ground again. “I’m not worth anything, I’m just a slave, I was born a slave and I will die a slave. But what’s it matter, master will surely punish me when I return” she sighed and started looking for the blossom, occasionally pointing out different flowers asking if they were the ones she was looking for.
