Fantasy Instead of Hell, I Ended Up Reborn As Something I Hate (Isekai Interest Check)

TanteRegenbogen

Cuddly enby auntcle
Plot: The protagonists were the bad guys in their past lives. They were anything from bandits to demons and caused lots of suffering in their past lives before dying. Expecting to end up in hell after death, they are greeted by a goddess who has quite the different plan. Thinking that souls can redeem themselves given the right circumstances, the goddess has the protagonists reborn in another world as something they hated in their past lives, whether it be as a dwarf, an elf or even the opposite sex, as long as they are reborn as a sapient being. They are granted a special ability upon reaching adulthood, however the ability changes depending on how it is use. There is a hint that good deeds or intents may make the ability stronger.

Reborn in the world of Eterea, most of the protagonists intend to do no better in this world than the last. However gradually they might become more neutral disposition in the end. Their new bodies, impoverished upbringing and the fact that they will have to learn every ability anew makes it difficult for them to succeed. Additionally, the "new hero" of the demon war came through the village recently. While the protagonist inclined to hate this hero and his party, the hero does come off as pretty arrogant. Any tries at joining the demon army or bandit groups failed as the protagonists are just laughed and taken pity upon.

However there may be a bright future for them if they try to at least not be evil for once. Who knows if they might become famous some day or attain some sort of special status? There are plenty of monsters in the forest and plenty of opportunities to make money and gain reputation. The parents of one of the reborn protagonists say that the adventurers guild is hiring and the next branch of the adventurers guild is in the next town. Maybe that could be a start? Beats working as a wood cutter like your new father or as a gatherer like your new mother.

Setting: The protagonists are reborn into the world of Eterea, specifically in the village of Terpenheim in the forested nation of Nachtschwert. The nation of Nachtschwert is a small kingdom filled with dense forests and surrounded by snow capped mountains. The capital of Fingstheim is located on a lone mountain relatively central in the kingdom. Despite a long war against the demon armies to the far east of the continent, Nachtschwert remains peaceful as it is far away from the frontline. However it still contributes to the war effort by occasionally sending troops, supplies or financial aid.

The main sapient species of Nachtschwert are humans, elves and dwarves. However there are other minority species such as dragonkin, half-dragons, gnomes and goblins.

Dwarves: Dwarves are possibly the most populous group in Nachtschwert, but not by much. Dwarves tend to be less visible as they usually socialize with other dwarves and only head out to town or the land to work or trade. Dwarves in this world are about two-thirds the size of humans and elves. Their areas of expertise are metalworking, smithing (blacksmithing, goldsmithing, weapon/armor smithing), jewel cutting, swordsmanship and stone cutting.

Humans: Humans are the second most populous group are possibly most visible in large settlements. While they prefer socializing with other humans, they are a bit more open to socializing with other species than dwarves and elves. Their areas of expertise are trade, wood cutting, carpentry, building and cooking. Their fighting classes are usually fighter, warrior, berserker or battlemage (not exclusively).

Elves: Elves are just about as populous as humans and are found mostly in forested flatlands and boglands. They used to be about as secluded as dwarves but in recent times they have learned to at least socialize with humans and goblins often. Dwarves and elves dont always get along, even when the king is an elf. Their areas of expertise are bowmaking, archery, textile work (such as tailoring), leatherworking and magics. Common fighting classes are healer, archer, rogue and mage.

Goblins: Goblins are a minority species usually found in cities and fortified settlements. They are about half as tall as humans and elves. They rely on socializing with other species. Their expertise areas are crafting, trade, fine mechanics and roofing. Their fighting classes are usually archer and rogue.

Dragonkin: Dragonkin are scaled humanoids with lizard features. They live in their own settlements usually and are a tiny minority with only a couple dragonkin villages actually native to Nachtschwert. Dragonkin are usually know for the exotic leathers they offer and products from yak milk. Common fighting classes among them are warrior and berserker.

Half-dragons: Half-dragons arent really half dragon but are called so because they look like elves with some dragon features. Usually they have pointed ears like elves but also have scaley tails and horns. Their teeth are noticeably sharper than those of humans or elves. Half-dragons are pretty rare and are adaptable to environments. The areas of expertise are weaponsmithing, building and roofing but tend to also be jacks of all trades. Common classes are any classes that dont require magic.

Gnomes: Gnomes are seen occasionally here and there. No preference in habitation. They are only a third the size of humans and elves. Gnomes are usually goldsmiths and fine mechanic workers. They arent too good in physical combat so they stick to short swords and short bows. Otherwise gnomes use magic.

Classes: You can be basically any class as long as it fits into a medieval fantasy setting. Just ask.

Magics: Healing, Elemental (Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, Lightning), Dark, Summoning, Blue (enhancing abilities of oneself or others)

Skills (combat, not all listed): Hand-to-Hand combat, swordsmanship, greatswords, axes/hammers, archery, spears/war scythes, light armor (cloth/leather), heavy armor (chain/plate), magic, unarmored defense,

Possible character template:

Name
Age
Species
Gender/sex (male, female, intersex)
Pronouns (optional)
Appearance
Clothing
Likes/Dislikes
Special ability (the stronger its potential is, the larger the drawbacks must be)
Class/Job (can be both combat or non-combat, if no specific class then write "classless", if no specific job "freelancer")
Skills (both combat and non-combat)
Personality
Background
Alignment/moral disposition (use the nine alignment/D&D alignments, such as lawful neutral, chaotic evil etc. The Alignment System )

Neat, lets see how this goes.

Greedy merchant slaver turned poor worthless bumpkin gooo

Rather learn the other side of the coin. To maybe learn to empathize with that what one hated. The people arent reborn as the opposite of what someone was but as whatever that someone hated.

I will make this anyways and if no one joins, I will basically make it like a light novel I guess and do it alone.

Also question: Can we make multiple characters and can we make one of said multiple characters not reincarnated?

Plus a character concept:

Concept:

In their past life, Ariiasq hated many things. Among them were as follows:

Being forced to do things they don't want to do (hard labor)

Rural country.

Being stuck in said rural country.

Religious idiots.

Children and young teens.

Being noticeable.

Well guess what?

Name: Ariiasq Drayceon
Age: Permanently 14 physically as well as in some mental aspects.
Species: Half dragon.
Gender/sex: Nonbinary (genetically female)
Pronouns: They/them
Appearance:
(Will draw, later)

Clothing: Dark, plain colors; nothing noticeable.

Likes:

Dislikes:

Special ability: DragonAspect.

DragonAspect allows Ariiasq to take on some of the attributes of a dragon with all of the downsides plus some. The more they use, the higher the energy drain. If they reach the end of their energy, they will either A. pass out, B. Die, or C. Their cells will begin to deconstruct and they will start bleeding from every pore in their body. And then they die.

All attributes Ariiasq is allowed to take (only 2 or 3 at a time. They always have 1 active):
Wings: large (13-15 ft wingspan), draconic wings sprout from their back. High energy drain to create, but will not drain after they're established. Spell takes 24 hours to take effect.

Thermokinesis+passive thermal sense: The ability to sense and control the heat in the immediate (20ft in a sphere) area. Low energy drain while inactive; medium drain while in use. Very overwhelming, and can only be inactive for 20 hours; only 2 with moderate (moving enough heat to burn, but not incinerate intermittently) use.

Thermal invulnerability: Inability to be burned or really get uncomfortable in heat. Low energy drain.

Kerosene-like fire breath: A short supply of mildly hot (for dragonfire), sticky fire that they can spit a decent ways. Max about 7ft out. Very high energy drain to create and a very small supply.

Class/Job: Wants to be an assassin... but is currently stuck working off a debt they were born into... by helping build roofs.
Skills:

Pick-locking
Parkour (you cannot tell me someone who slaps shingles on roofs can't hop from building to building).
Very stealthy due to self-imposed training.
Good with their weapon of choice; a bladed ropedart with steel cords for ropes. The steel cord is sharp and has spikes embedded in it, and more often than not, part of it's wrapped around their neck under the guise of a scarf.
Hand-to-hand combat (kinda. It's like... streetfighting mixed with a rabid gerbil)

Personality: I'll write this in later
Background: UHHHHHHH I'll work on it.
Alignment/moral disposition: True neutral. They do what they think they should whether it's going against the general moral compass or not. They're not... selfish per ce, but they also couldn't give half a shit about people they don't know. They can and will kill in defense, to get paid, or because someone pissed them off enough that they felt the need to snap their neck.

Full list of weaknesses:
-Horrible weakness to cold. Ariiasq may lose the ability to function at all in below freezing temperatures, and if left to themself, will die very quickly (as in like... 3 hours until they're unrevivable).
-Blood coagulates very slowly (so... weak to sharp weapons).
-May be permanently 14, but they look... like 10. They can't do shit by themself.
-Very, very noticeable.
-All abilities are very draining, so it's rare to see them use any of them.
-Training is very informal, so they leave themself open a lot.
-Absolutely feral.

Special ability Shadow Summons(Ergo she can Bend Shadows to her will and attack with them, Drawbacks include migraine and nausea)
Class/Job Classless/Assassin
