"What happens when you die?" - Jazz Salla age 11.
It was a simple question with no certain answer. Little Jazz made her elder brother's heart wrench with those five words.
"Shen Anigans beard Jazz... I havent even had my coffee and you've killed me off?..." Kurt and Jazzamine lost their parents many years ago. Although they had enough money for a priest of the warriors church to perform a ceremony, supposedly sending the fallen couple to heaven. Jazz would often claim she felt like someone was watching her.
"Our souls are taken to the heavens by the gods. That's why we pay the church to guide the souls of our loved ones toward them" Kurt has stated this many times, not having any reason to think it was wrong.
"but why do they need a guide?
Aren't the gods above the sky?
The heavens shouldn't be hard to find...
Why do we have to pay the church if the gods are taking souls anyway?"
Jazz wasn't correct, but she wasnt wrong either.
"Go feed the scraps to the birds." Kurt ended the conversation before it could start up again. The young man thought out loud why his younger sister was so astute when it came to inane questions.
Jazz's day was much different. From stepping out the back door to start her daily chores. She found herself in a strange world...
the sky was bright white with swirls of ebony clouds. This world was devoid of colour, the ground below her feet seemed to be disconnected from the rest of the shadow painted ground. Below her was endless swirl forever downward. Platforms of black around her seem familiar however..
It was like a abstract painting of the family farm. Everything a silhouette but herself. A shrill scream pierced the dead silence but nobody heard Jazzamine's efforts as she lept from shadow to shadow searching for the exit. Jazzamine was never seen again...
"you child, you are a Void walker... cursed and blessed with odd and rare mana. You are a link to the spirits home realm, able to travel between Aerth and the void"
Small comfort for Samuel, a young boy who horrifically killed his friends in a freak accident. The priest consoled Sammy but the boys tears wouldn't stop. The priest was scared however.
To think one could throw small openings to the void like magic razors. As dumb unsupervised orphans threw their mana about bragging who was the best, Samuel copied the eldest with all his might resulting in the violent dismemberment of four others.
Although taken in by the mages church, Samuel vowed to himself he would never use his mana again.
It's because of stories like this, a woman made a decision....
The White Witch of Bellhalla, Yaya Deus. A half elf mage with odd and rare mana herself, early in her life made it her life's goal to find those in hard times or need of magical help to train them accordingly and make sure no more sadness or horror comes to this wonderful world of magic!
Magic was this young girls life, a natural freak when it came to mana. Mastering the Void before the age of ten and the elements soon after. Yaya would use the void to travel across Aerth gathering Artefacts so she could use all mana like her elf ancestors. Doing so she helped and taught many with a bright smile.
Unfortunately Aerth is very much fucked in numerous ways, the bubbly happy go lucky Yaya has found much success in her travels... helped and taught many people over the years...
But
The stress of random attacks from Darkspawn,
The dangerous beasts and monsters mutating into deadlier creatures,
The corruption within the various powers and blatant disregard for life as criminals and heroes alike gouge the population for as much gold as possible,
(the orc population bothered Miss Deus for many reasons, her elf ancestors having created the green plague during the second great war hundreds of years ago)
Yaya Deus couldn't help but gain a mean streak. A honed edge ready to cut through the bullshit of Aerth, though she is still looking for happiness for herself, her students and everyone whose a decent person.
===================
A rp in a fantasy medieval world, if you want to play you would be a student or follower of the White Witch traveling across the planet fixing shit and teaching lessons.
Unusual/dangerous/seemingly useless powers would be the favoured choice for characters.
Looking to get a wide range of misfits to make a diverse cast of characters who could all make their own lives or hometowns a different layer of hell if the wrong thing ever happened.
Void walkers for the easiest example could accidentally enter the void getting lost forever to die alone. (or worse)
You might have someone with seemingly uncontrollable fire, or someone who effects the weather drastically.
This rp would be somewhat light toned in the way no main character will die or get hurt
(unless the player wants it to happen) but more of a dark comedy where the students are trying to accept themselves and learn to harness their power for the greater good. But if shit gets to heavy or annoying Yaya might just kill the problem or force a swift retreat for a anticlimactic effect.
Of course this could be more serious if that's what people prefer but I like the idea of this being more a comedy with darker moments.
