Hasterville: 2017

Midday in Hasterville. Or, so, it would be, if you could see the sun. Murky green skies draped over the atmosphere, giving the city a bleak appearance, almost as if it wasn't clean for years. However, the people below paid no mind to the filth, seeing as most citizens were inherently resistant to it. Most people went along their normal lives, but then again, what is normal in a town like this...?

"I said back the fuck off," The woman growled, sending razor sharp glares at the boy tormenting her brother. She was picking him up form his sitter ealry, since she home schooled him but had to go into work for a few hours. The boys almost immediately stopped as they heard Dylan's voice, it almost certain the color drained form their faces. Jackson, her kid brother of just 9, was ass on the ground, the little deaf boy's medical looking mask hanging by one ear, his teddy bear in one of his bullies hands.

Dylan stepped forward, taking the bear, before making the kids scram by giving them an empty threat stepped he wouldn't make good on because they were younger than her by quite a few years. And as soon as her eyes landed on her brother, her persona did a complete 180. She gave him a soft smile, kneeling down to fix the mask, which was decorated with stars and bears, and set him on his feet. "Hey now, stop crying, it's okay," She said softly, making movements with her hands which would look like some weird ninja thing to those who didn't know ASL. Though Jackson could read lip, it was easier to sign as well.

He nodded, letting g Dylan wipe his eyes, before hugging onto his teddy bear once it was back in his arms. Dylan smiled again, and stood up, taking his hand, then picking up the black bag of groceries she had picked up on her way. Looking down at her brother, she sighed a little, feeling sorry for the deaf kid. He wasn't always deaf, but speaking about how he became deaf was hard for both of them. Because it really, really wasn't pretty. Anyway, the pair began to walk along, Dylan smiling or muttering a quiet hey to the faces she recognized on their way to the shabby little apartment they shared.

It was small, two bedrooms, a living room kitchen combo, a very small bathroom, and not very clean. They laundry had to be done in the basement, where there were only four washers and dryers for the entire complex, the hot water didn't work most of the time, and she's pretty sure rats keep stealing their fucking socks. Well, no matter, it was better when than when they first hot there and were homeless, but hey, even that was better than fostercare.

The pair briefly stopped at a small store with not very much in it. It was kinda like an all around store, with small food items, some hardware stuff, even some clothes for some reason. Maybe the people running it were just trying they make a buck like everyone else. Jackson, liked this store for some reason. Probally because the owner's little girl was mute, so her and Jackson bonded over the fact they both had to communicate the same way. It made Dylan feel a little better.

She lit up a cigarette just as Jackson picked out the icecream treat he wanted, which turned out to be a strawberry crunch bar. She didn't blame him, those things were good. She quickly paid and opened if for him, before they confined on their way home. Most people mistook the for mother and son, and to be honset, they wouldn't be far from the truth. She did practically raise him herself just after he was done with boobs. Once more, the woman with the cigarette hugged between her slightly chapped lips looked down and the kid happily eating away at the ice cream and holding her hand, and nd she smiled again. As long as he was happy.

The droplets in a alley way gutter drops slowly. The sun is shining and a small family of 4 walks. They seem to be alright. The father is rushing of course, he is wearing a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. The wife was wearing a pair of black pants and a blue shirt. The two kids were wearing matching jeans and striped shirt. One girl and one boy.

A loud snap went off, 3 looked back to see the son screaming in pain. He was crying, and trying to stand up. His leg was nearly clean off.

911 was called by the dad but everyone was panicking. The mom was on the otherhand trying to help the child up but the leg pulled off.

(If any hero wants to help them before Jason sweeps in)

Blood. She could smell the familiar sickly sweet stench before she could even see it. Their building was right there, and so was their neighbor Pat, nice old lady they would make banana bread for every once in a while. Dylan gave the bag of stuff to Jackson, which wasn't really havey. It was only a few boxes of mac n cheese and a few other small things they could eat on until she could go actual grocery shopping, then left the boy with Pat and the keys.

She ran in the direction it was comming from, just a little bit away actually, just round the corner. What she saw want what she expected. A stab wound is what she thought...not some poor kids leg completely off. Dylan quickly decided she'd indeed help, maybe find out what the fuck happened. But...the family was in too much of act panic to answer any questions she had. The young woman sighed a little, but knew her helping the mother with her now one legged son would be appreciated.

The young woman joined the two people, one frantic, and one most definitely in shock, Dylan helped the mother move her son. But she couldn't help feel like this wasn't the end of it. Seriously, what, or who, cut off the kids leg? That just want something that happened naturally! Dylan glanced over her shoulder, seeing the pool of blood, his discarded leg, and a few lights in the distance...but nothing more. "What the actual hell?"

Jason was in the shadows of the alley. The dad screamed before nothing but gurgling was heard. A large meathook in his neck. His arms reaching to grab it but they quickly fell to the ground lifeless along with the body. The wife abandoning ship and getting the fuck away got her leg caught in a razor wire snare. The little girl was curled up on he ground. Jason starred at the father trying to pull the hook out. His tired breath increasing in loudness through his crocodile Esq mask. The hook was stuck. He later turned to Dylan. His eyes nearly burning into the back of his head.

Meanwhile, a frail old - wait, a frail young man had just signed for a new delivery. The big, buff delivery man watched in simple amusement as he watched a small drone, about the size of a football (a proper football, not your American crap) fly over the massive dump truck that had been parked outside and scan it with 3 cameras mounted on it. With a simple press of his phone's touch screen, Devon had been relayed a long list of materials, prices and even estimated weights of literally each piece lying on the back of that truck.

"Hmm...yes...a couple tonnes of steel and aluminium...high grade electronics and even an electromagnet...yes, this will do nicely. Will £500 suffice? This stuff is good for me, but not particularly good elsewhere."

"Well, the lad who 'ired me said he'd pay me a couple grand for hauling it away. Sure, I'll give it t' yer for 500."

Devon beamed brightly. He had always enjoyed a nice deal. He enjoyed Steve's company too - he doesn't get many visitors to Venison Scrapyard. I mean, who goes exploring into a scrapyard? By definition, there is nothing but scrap there!

"Do you want a cuppa before you go?"

"Nah, gotta get t' rest of these deliveries done. Got a few today, think there was a crash or summat on the main road."

"Ooh, anything for me?"

"Err...let's see...ah yes, there is. Few burnt out cars to give t' ya. If you want, I could get you them within the next hour or so?"

"Ahh, that would be lovely Steve. You have a nice day now!"

With a friendly wave, Steve jumps back into his truck and drives down the dirt road onto the main road. Devon liked Steve - he was a simple man, even compared to a normal man, but he was amiable enough. He often made a trip every day or so to dump off scrap at his yard, before heading home. Devon found that Hasterville always had scrap in it. He couldn't place a finger on why. He didn't care. As he saw Steve off, he had a thought - a delivery robot? Nah, he said aloud, too much effort, too many variables.

Besides, who would visit the weak man then? He chuckles to himself as he hobbles back to to his house. Back to the workshop, he thought, where I belong.

Hasterville bar. What a place to work at. Midday was normally the time she was even at the bar with Elaine or whatever. Suddenly, a scent hit her nose like a freshly cooked pancake waft in the wind. Blood that rubs against skin smelled metallic, and this smelled metallic. Pace picked up the speed of her running, sliding around a corner and finding the horrendous site. Of course, she expected something like this to happen in Hasterville, but traps were a little unconventional. She saw some girl trying to help the victims out, and figured she'd join her.

Pace had no time to lose. She knelt next to the girl and began to feel for a breathing. "What the hell happened here?" She turned the girl onto her back and reached into her bag. Pace had no medical equipment, but she did have paper. She quickly pulled out her notepad and looked at it, realizing it would make a terrible bandage in the first place. The kid began to wail. "Shh, it's okay..." She figured now would be a nice time to look out for anyone, while making sure the daughter was out of the way.

She almost dropped the boy who was still barely alive when the mother ran, but managed to drag him over to his sister, a force feild of swirling grayish energy now around them as her own skin turned to steel. She turned and faced the figure in the ally, "Alright big boy, why don't you mess with someone your own size," She said, popping her neck. Her voice held ally certain metallic hum, like metal being hit gently with a rubber hammer. She'd just have to hold him off long enough for the cops to get there. So they could at least get the kids outta the way.

Though a meat hook was a strange weapon, this made her at least slightly hopeful of at least curbing his attacks. The meat hook was made of metal was it not? This gave her at small advantage to the obvious height at and weight advantage he had on her. Then, some chick showed up, running over to the hiring and the boy p, briefly opening the feild to let her in. "What ever the hell he is!" She said. "That's what happened."

Jason started to charge Dylan. At a extremely brisk pace. His meathook covered in large amounts of blood. He threw the hook at her and pulled out a homemade machete. It looked alot more flimsy than it was. Hillbilly engineering works like that.

He was around 5 meters away.  And quickly gaining. He seemed to walk with a limp on his right leg. he stopped halfway, the beartraps have a automatic reset mechanism and well.

*SNAP*

He looked down at his mangled leg like it was a minor inconvenience. He bent down and used his other foot to hold the trap down and reset it. The trap clicking back into place. His right leg seemed to be mangled to hell. But he still was able to limp on it.

She was smart to keep her distance,  taking a few saps back as he charged, but then smirked when he got trapped him in his own trap. Taking this opportunity, she readied herself for when he was free, then ran at him, ducking to his right side and sending a powerful kick twoards his knee. Weak points meant high damage, and high damage meant well, it would hurt like hell or take him out a bit, leaving her time to at least disarm him or for the police to get there. Maybe another minute ot two judging by the distance of the sirens.

The force feild around the three, well two as it was a safe bet the boy had bled out, dissipated. "You got 30 seconds before I can put another one up, get outta here!" She called.

Jason grunted in pain as the bone from his leg fractured. A large crack running down the center of it. However he seemed to recover quickly. He gripped his machete tighter and popped his leg back into place. He heard the sirens and looked to his right. He bashed in the door to a ghetto apartment and started to pace away. He was trying to lure them into a cqc environment.

Pace Ackermann || Police Corporal Lexington (NPC)

Pace began making her way around the building, realizing the girl was gone. Like, gone gone. With the family dead, Pace had no other choice but to assist the woman. Without saying a word, she jumped onto the side of the building and grabbed onto the windowsill. She managed to stand high enough to roll in through the broken window onto the floor just above the man. The rickety conditions of the apartment weren't particularly helpful, but she only had to help in ways she could. Pace found a place behind a banister and reached into her bag to pull out a knife.

The police cars stopped, one in the middle. The man in charge of the current operation, Corporal Lexington, hopped out of the car, pistols at the ready. "We got a call fr' here boys. Get th' family a medical team. Now where are ya, strange masked boy..." The officer began walking towards the door, weapon at the ready.

Dylan, about to follow, was stopped when Jackson came to mind. If she were hurt by some psycho Roadhog rip off, she wouldn't be able to care for him. The girl, known as Steel in her current form, decided it was best to back down for now. Or at least jot go in alone. @Yappi

Instead of going in alone, she joined Pace, follwoing her lead, but now asking about the girl. "Is...is she okay?" The young woman asked, her voice cautious, but the metallic sound to her tone drowning it a little. "We need to be careful. He didn't seem to mind me breaking his leg much," She then added, her voice a bit more serious.

In a brick store, selling jewelry worth hundreds, everything was dark. Kynthia had gone in during the day and set the manager asleep, then turned off the lights while she grabbed jewels. It was a good tactic, seeing as the security system wasn't on at the moment. She pulled down her mask to cover the lower half of her face and went out the back door. Don't worry, the man woke up. He also called the police, so Kynthia had to run faster...

The rather small girl jumped and ducked, leaping fences (Like @JPax) and racing into... Well, she crashed into a wall. Isn't that great. Kynthia laughed a bit and moved back to keep going. Instead she was cornered by a really large man. This was the guard of the store, and he was not too happy. Kynthia pressed herself against the wall, a smirk under the mask. "You wanna go bro?" She asked, raising her fists. The guard slammed the side of his arm against Kynthia's neck before she could do anything. The girl kicked and tried to scream, pulling on the guard's arm. It didn't work and she felt herself losing conscious. "A-Agathe!" She whisper cried before passing out. The guard chuckled and lifted her into his arms, taking her down and back to meet her fate... It was not a good fate.

Agathe roamed around the streets, looking rather frantic. "H-Has anyone seen my sister?" She asked, netting quite a few people with her voice. "Please, she's only ten and she snuck out a-and I can't find her! She might be in trouble!" The people around her gave her looks of pity and a small smile before turning and leaving. Agathe growled and finally shouted "HELP!" With all the command and power she could muster.

Dominic went out of "The Printer" for a little while to buy groceries. Just wore a pullover sweater and jeans. A quick walk to a small market. He didn't buy much, just 2 whole chickens, a couple spices and some drinks. He put them in a plastic bag, and carried them home. After putting them into the refridgerator and cabinets, he dove right into his basement. Heading to his monstrous computer setup, he logged into Chirper and saw a DM from a newspaper his firm always printed for.

"Hey there Edwards & Co. Team. We'd like you to print another article for us. It's a big one, 'Boy Shot In Leg, Crime Rising?' You'll enjoy this read." He replied with a quick 'alright!' and took a look at the article. God, he didn't really like their typing, because it was, well, shit, but they had a lot of money and they paid really high. He sent it to his team and gave them a heads up  on whose article it was.

After doing his job, he wondered if crime really was rising. He took a quick piece of paper and began speed folding. In a matter of 2 seconds, he had made what looked like a panda. He put it on the shelf, next to his other creations. Putting on a black jacket, white gloves and a pair of sneakers, Dominic decided he'd scout as Folds for a bit. He put on the mask, and went outside his apartment. He took some paper from the street and made a pair of wings. He flew up and got onto his roof.

Pace raised an eyebrow and turned her head to face Dylan. The other woman seemed much better suited for combat than herself (at least, on the outside) but was way too quick to reveal powers. If Pace was someone else, she'd call the police, but that might lead to discovery of her own abilities. "I saw." Pace flipped the knife into her hand and looked down the stairs to where the police corporal was talking. Hasterville police wasn't really the best; they lacked most technology, some still used rifled muskets and flint locks, and overall they resembled park rangers and spoke like cowboys. "Metahuman. That's the word, isn't it."

@FireMaiden

???

"Crack cocaine." A strange man began walking towards Agathe. He was tall, he was fully masked and hooded, looked rather lanky, but most importantly, each footstep seemed to curve the ground a little. On second inspection, it could be concluded that this was an enhanced weight. As his shoulder crossed Agathe, he suddenly exclaimed, very loudly. "DEAUGH!" As he shouted, a strange white liquid dripped onto the girl's shoulder from his mask. The man pulled out a device and examined it as he hastily walked past her, but not before cranking his hooded head to the roof where the winged paper man was. For a brief second, two soulless, piercing eyes would make eye contact...

@Echo Dreamsong @Boneless

Agathe flinched away from the man, wiping the liquid off with a glare. "HEY!" She shouted after him before looking up at the winged paper man. He seemed to be able to see much more, so Agathe entered the apartment and began heading up the stairs. Two flights up and she sat down on the steps and gasped for breath. Agathe was not good at exercise. It took almost twenty more minutes, but she got onto the roof. "H-have you *Gasp* seen a *Huff* Little girl anywhere?" Agathe panted, sweat dripping down her forehead.

This girl walked through his apartment just to talk to Dominic. He didn't want to talk, maybe she was someone he knew. He simply looked back at her and flew up. He then chased after the strange man. He didn't like it when people looked at him. After about 2 minutes or so, he finally found the bastard. He quickly took a few pieces of paper and made a paper blast. He flinged it at the bastard, and did a quick battlecry before flying towards him, aiming his foot at him like he was a missile.

The good doctor felt the paper strike against him and stumbled forwards, though not as much as a regular person would on account of his sheer weight. He turned to see some psycho charging at him from the air in a relatively linear path. All Starling did was step to the side so that the winged loon would go straight into the ground if he didn't act fast. "Tsss....this town is full of crazies."

""AH SHIT!" was the only thing he managed to cry out as he fell into the ground, fumbling forwards. His wings fell into various sheets of paper. He was half-buried into the street, maybe a good 3 meters away from the asshat who stared at him. And spilling something like milk on a girl? Just wrong. Despite the large amount of pain, he got up and shook the dust off himself. Taking out a bunch of paper, he formed a sort of ancient Chinese paper armor, and a small sword. He dashed ahead at the man, approximately about half a meter, tossing his sword at him.

Dr. Starling

Starling raised his hand and grabbed the sword with a gloved hand. The instant protection against paper cuts. However, the force was . "Do you have some issue with me? Do you think I'm evil?" He pulled out his device, now there was some irritation present in the man's voice. He turned to the man and pulled out a small syringe. "Pff." The doctor chucked the syringe at the paper man, hoping it hit something.

Elaine Arini

Elaine had also gotten off of work, just right about now. Hasterville bar wasn't a pleasant place, but Elaine was looking forward to a day of sleeping after working there. However, the sound of a quiet jewelry store caught her eye. It was dark as well, which lead to Elaine worrying about it. She walked in through the window, not sure what to expect from anyone. She remained vigilant, but had a hard time adjusting to the dark. "Hello?"

Noticing the small syringe, Dominic quickly created a paper wall, at least 300 pages thick, which was enough to stop the projectile. This ticked him off. He just wanted to beat him up because he stared at him. Now he actually put up a fight. "It is on." Determined, the crazy boy began creating a small, functioning pistol made of paper. Putting it together was going to take time, so he quickly made a small encasing to cover himself. Multitasking, he also made aerodynamically accurate bullets. Just about 12 rounds of 5 mm beauty. He was still busy, so the asshat could do something, or simply walk away.

[OOC: pls dont run away or else ill have to chase you]

Agathe growled at them both, panting now at the bottom of the stairs. "HEY!" She commanded, using her powers to get their attention. "My sister is missing! Can't you help me?! She's just a little girl!" Agathe begged, slowly moving forward. "Save fighting for later and help!"

@Boneless @JPax

A small scream echoed from down a case of stairs, maybe it was one of pain or anger, but it was of a young girl. Kynthia was kicking and shouting, trying to undo the binds holding her hands to the chair, or maybe get the blindfold off. The man knew of her, knew that she needed to make eye contact to use her sleeping powers, and he wasn't taking chances. "STUPID BASTARD! LET ME G-" She was cut off by a thick wad of cotton or something shoved into her mouth. Kynthia continued to try and kick, even as her legs were tied to the chair. Thump. The chair fell to the side as a punch was landed to Kynthia's jaw. It hurt, but it wasn't going to kill her. She just kept thrashing and screaming through the gag.

Fang Wylder:

Fang opened and looked out of the window of her apartment, down at the strange scene below. For a moment all she could really see(and hear) was a giant flurry of paper. She wasn't a fan of loud noise.

"Some people are trying to get peace and quiet here..." She thought to herself, batting away a stray sheet of paper with her hand. Then again, stuff like this happened all the time. Was it even worth reacting to? Only if she was provoked, she decided.

That was when Fang heard screams from downstairs. Two different people? Perhaps she should check it out...
