~'Nox'~

1681070962877-png.1079750

Nox's plan should have made dealing with the large group of insects easy but with Jareth flaking, in quite the literal sense, the situation became far more dangerous in but the blink of an eye. With Shael's Arrow dealing a considerable blow to one of the insects the rest began to swarm. The vast majority rushed the group while two elected to instead tend to the egg sacks and evacuate them. How bothersome.

With two bugs specifically targeting Nox herself, the Vampire was left with no other option but to go all out on offense. Though she possed a defensive ability she didn't quite trust in its capabilities given the fact she was outnumbered. Indeed, without any actual armor to defend her vitals either, she had to act decisively and strike down her foes first. Taking a deep breath the woman dropped her center of mass down low, moving her hand to the hilt of her sword. Then in one swift motion, she drew the blade while taking a single step forward and back upward to gather momentum. Aiming for the monster's eye level she made her attack, a single stroke committed to in full. A make or break attempt that had her steel blade dimly glowing. "Be purged by moonlight"

Actions: 3/3

Targets for ability - All monsters within range

  • [Vampiris Lunaris] - F - [Accurate], [Drain Vitality], [Vampiric], [Area 5ft], [Blight = Holy Ice], [Continuing = Bleed], [Contagion = Holy Ice], [Spreading = Bleed], [Penetrating], [Multidimensional], [Incapacitating], [Selective], [Incurable] [Hot Shot]- Nox's ultimate technique. Sheathing her sword, Nox quickly draws it once again to devastating effect, unleashing a powerful attack that spreads both Ice and bleeding to those foes within reach and beyond. The true power of a moon-blessed vampire unleashed in but a single strike. Nox's blade is drawn and returned to its sheath with such speed an untrained eye might not even register it being drawn at all. 0 Post cooldown/3 Action - [Moonblade Sword] E + Strength D + [Vampiris Lunaris] F = 6 Base Combat Effectiveness. Blight + 1, Penetration +1.

Battle!

Jareth's ability to just sink and become a puddle of sand wouldn't prove detrimental to him. Due to his state, the bug's attacks would become null, pounding onto a pile of blackened sand would just spill and splash it slightly. The bugs would become confused as their attacks pierced into the dirt floor. "Skrrrskrrrr?" The bug would make a noise.

[Arkham's [Attack]; Weapon B(5) + [Strength] A(6) = (11)]
= [Arkham's [Attack] (11) - Bugs' [Dual Attack] ?(?)]
= Result: Arkham Win [Arkham's [Attack] (3)]

While the third and fifth bugs remained confused, Arkham's attack to counter the dual attack from the two bug's target would prove successful, as he'd swung toward the fourth bug. However, his blow would be much weakened as a loud TINK would sound out as his blade first collides with the bug. This would result in the bug's slightly weakening his blade. [Steel Bastard Sword B(5) --> Steel Bastard Sword C(4) for until the end of the RP.]

However, the same couldn't be said about his next two attacks which would, with a slight bit of effort, would break through the two bugs' exoskeletons and ultimately kill them. Spilling their horrible fluids all over the ground as they'd momentarily screech before falling.

[Nox's [Attack]; Weapon E(2) + [Strength] D(3) + [Ability] F(1) = (6) +1 +1]

Nox's attack would successfully destroy the armour and also kill the two bugs' which had been targeting Jareth, who was currently pretending to be a part of the floor, Their bodies would fall over, stiff and frozen. Despite wounds being frozen over, they'd still bleed out the disgusting fluid.

Unfortunately, despite its powerful effects, Nox's attack would fall short just slightly as the bugs' dual attack would target her blade, causing it to become slightly damaged. [Moonblade Sword E(2) --> Moonblade Sword F(1) for until the end of the RP.] Despite landing their strike on the sword, the bug targeting Nox would also fall due to her attack.

Shael's stealth shot would prove to be much more effective, as the arrow would pierce into the bug's exposed innards, causing it to burst all over into a disgusting mass of ooze. It smelled horrible.

WTRPAdventurersPOV_R12-1.png

"Woohoo!" Solidi hopped up and down and celebrated, "Yes, yes! You all got them! Great job!" She celebrated, praising the party. "Yes, yes, we have to move forward, no reason to stay here! We gotta move ahead!" She'd state, as the red-headed girl would run up ahead. This was obviously not a good idea, because only moments later would the party hear a loud high-pitched scream.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"

WTRPAdventurersPOV_R12-2.png

Yes, standing before Solidi were now three more bugs. They were as normal as the others, however, disturbingly there'd be a few with long proboscis hovering above her. They had similarly hard-looking shells, but also seemingly were afloat. Some sort of thick fluid was leaking from their proboscis. Much more pressing, however, was the much larger and clearly more threatening worm-like bug. Despite its similar appearance and colour, the worm-like bug was much softer looking. It seemed to have some sort of sticky mucus on its body.

It shrieked at the sound of Solidi's cry. The bug's loud wailing echoed throughout the forest.

Jareth Fletcher
| Human | Eyeglass Adept | Ryken Adventurer F | Sandman | Comrade | Sun-Kissed |
Sandman - character's body is made of sand. Is likely to leave sand behind wherever they go. Has an easier time staying together in moist environments and less windy days. Even when solid, can give off the impression they may blow away at any moment.
Comrade - character has proved themselves to be a good ally and approachable. Character will have easier time convincing others to team up with their cause or to allow him to join theirs. More likely to join a cause that isn't worth joining too, however.
Sun-Kissed - character has a new found fascination with the Leilosis faith. Will suffer in social situations with those that despise the followers of the Sun God. Will excel in social situations with Sun God followers.

As certain as Jareth was that his demise was at hand, the reality of his sand body made death much harder to come by, especially at the 'hands' of the insectoids. Their limbs and appendages were made for piercing, pinching, and tearing--none of which made any difference to the aggregate now comprising Jareth's form. The body of blackened sand harmlessly accommodated the thrusts and swipes of the encroachers, who were altogether unaware of the Sisyphean nature of their task.

Jareth had assumed the position of the helpless and cowardly, the power he wielded having been momentarily forgotten in the haze of his awakened fear. His arms interposed between himself and his aggressors relaxed slightly as he witnessed the insectoid's appendages harmlessly piercing and stirring his particulate body. There was no pain. Truthfully, had he not been watching the attacks land, he would not have even been aware that he was even being touched.

Suddenly standing over him on either side were his comrades: the fae Nox on his right and the human Arkh on his left. Each launched a counterassault of their own design that decimated the frontline of the insects. Being at the feet of the insects when they fell, Jareth was covered in the gag-inducing liquid that issued from their cavities. He froze for a moment, as one does when in the path of an incoming mess that they had no power to stop or avoid, allowing the fluids to spill over him like some sickly anointing performed by a feral priest.

Once the life fountains had subsided, there was a pause as Jareth came to terms with the putrid glaze that had been bestowed upon his form as though he were some pastry being sold in a bakery run by some hag of a witch. The sands shuddered slightly as he began to move, but the sandman stopped suddenly as he contemplated a sudden development: the pools of insectoid blood began to shrink and absorb into the darkened particulate. As unnerving as this was, Jareth's unsettled state was calmed by a wave of relief as he made another discovery: his ever-present thirst had been quite suddenly sated in an instant.

As the relaxing sensation of finally being quenched washed over him, the sand solidified into Jareth's natural form but with one exception: his right arm had formed into the likeness of the piercing appendage that had struck him.

"Hm...?" Jareth hummed as his widened eyes observed his arm.

Then Solidi screamed from up ahead. Those who hadn't just lost their head in the heat of combat would no doubt advance quickly. Jareth would linger on the ground a moment, studying his arm. It had a similar weight to his natural arm, though heavier due to its increased length. It vaguely resembled a sword, being capable of slashing and piercing. As far as whether or not he could actually damage the bugs with this, Jareth had no idea. He wasn't the strongest lad by far, but he'd soon find out. Jareth stood to his feet, but waited for the strength in his legs to return. That episode had taken a lot out of him, it seemed.

"Now to figure out how to attack with this thing...." Jareth muttered, eyeing the frontline.

Arkham Koenig

"Tch!" Arkham emoted his frustration, since this brand new sword was already feeling the pressure of these accursed armored bodies that he had been destroying. He just hoped his blade could resist whatever remained of this battle. Seeing all the first group of bugs dead, Solidi happily ran ahead. Arkham was shocked no one tried to catch her, or at least go after her. Since that was not the case, he took it upon himself to do so. "Cover me, you all!"

Running at full speed speed, Arkham managed to somewhat cover the gap between the two. Solidi's shriek was cut off when Arkham caught up and picked her off the ground, and using the finesse granted by [Freerunner F], he was able to make a full 180 degree turn without destroying his ankles or slipping. Running back to the group, he dropped Solidi in the rear of the line, or as close as he could be allowed "Don't do that, understood?" he remarked, sounding frustrated, with a very subtle hint of concern. And while he could not take a proper look at what awaited them, he recognized it was going to be a rough task.

1. Chase Solidi
2. Run back carrying Solidi [Freerunner F]
3. Drop Solidi, as close to be behind the first attack line as possible

Connor Erland

It appears that the party made quick work of the initial cluster of enemies that they had to fight. As the last of the bugs stopped moving, Connor did not expect Solidi to immediately push forward, seemingly without caring about the dangers of recklessness in a potentially life or death situation such as this. No, considering her previous behaviour, perhaps this should have been expected.

Arkh reacted quickly, moving towards Solidi before Connor could. Fortunately, this gave him a few crucial moments to realize that the next cluster they are about to face now includes the newer, more unknown types of insectoids they noticed before engaging. It feels as if this now would be a stronger group, and as such, Connor looked towards his allies with an unclear expression, reflecting his current thoughts.

“H-heh… We’re going for this right?”

They might need all the strength they could get to get this to go as smoothly as possible. Either way, he tightened his grip on his katana and violin, readying himself as best he can. [1]

Actions:
[1] - Move with the rest of the party members if needed, to now try keeping in line in preparation for combat.

Shael was relieved when Solidi had been moved out of the way to safer spot behind the lines presuming that was possible, she just continued to get herself into serious danger and it was becoming a trend now. Shael couldn't help but wonder how she had managed to live as long as she had if this was how she behaved around enemies, never mind the fact that her ability to actually cast seemed extremely limited. In addition to this Jareth came back from being sand which was a major relief too as she hadn't been sure what he had been doing exactly up until that point, if he had been having some sort of issue or what, since he hadn't followed through with the plan, she could only assume it was some sort of issue, but what was important now was that he was back ready to fight.

As the others fell into line and were not engaging, Shael decided this time she'd probably play along and not engage, without getting a sign that she should first, last time she had shot one of the insects they had been all over them in an instant and it seemed with this number of enemies and now a much larger threat the group needed a bit more time to plan. Whether or not that meant the insects attacking them first was anyone's guess, but Shael would have her bow with a lunen arrow out on it drawn as a precaution. She moved 10 ft forward, keeping her bow ready and her vision affixed on what could only be assumed to be a queen and the thing that had been laying the eggs no doubt given how different it looked from all the others, at least she hoped that was the case not wanting to imagine there being something even larger they'd have to contend with. She was ready to provide support when the group was ready to engage nevertheless.

1. Move forward 10 ft, aim toward largest insect.

~'Nox'~

1681070962877-png.1079750

Nox's attack had landed true, though it came at a cost. Her blade had been damaged in the crossfire and as it was now, utilizing any of her attacks would put it at great risk of destruction. How unfortunate. She had won the battle but would seemingly now lose the war. Several other bugs still remained and most notably the queen herself. What a blunder. Looking to the mass fo gooped up sand, Nox watched as Jareth decided to finally rejoin them. Just what the hell had happened to him anyway? Why did he ignore her tactical suggestion when everyone else was seemingly up for it? Between catching everyone in an Aoe attack and just now ruining a plan that should have been easy to carry out. Nox had firmly formed the opinion this Jareth fellow was not the kind one wanted on their team. A lone wolf type if you will.

Looking at Jareth though did give Nox an idea. With how he had formed a weapon from his sand, Nox was inspired to do something similar though, much more gross in nature. Moving to the corpse of the bug closest to her Nox would go about severing it's arm. Cutting into it then after fashioning a sword-like blade from it's [Natural Weapon ?]. It wasn't the cleanest makeshift weapon but at least it was in better shape than her actual sword blade was. Plus it had to at least be an E Grade given she couldn't asses it with an appraisal. Giving the makeshift sword a few swings Nox was satisfied with its performance, it was a far shot from her sword in terms of comfort and ease of use, but it would do.

Having been focused on her weapon crafting experience, Nox was late in reacting to Solidi's advancement and scream. Luckily though the young girl had been saved by Arkham. Which meant the area ahead was clear. Dashing forward Nox readied her [?] grade blade and went straight for the group of foes, in particular, stopping right in front of bug 1. Then with a swift crescent strike, Nox made an attempt to hit bugs 1, 3, and 4 as well as the flying bug 3. An honest attempt to open a path for the others to strike at the boss, or at least to draw enough attention to herself so as to allow Shael to snipe at it.

Actions:
1. Taking arm from bug
2. Movement
3. Ability [Eclipse] - F - [Area 5ft], [Blight = Bleed] [Incurable] [Continuing = Bleed] [Penetrating]- Swinging her blade in a crescent arc Nox cuts opponents within a 5ft area in front of her dealing sudden as well as continuous bleed damage into the next turn. Wounds caused by the slash are incurable by normal means. 0 Post cooldown/1 Action. [Natural Weapon] ? + Strength D + [Eclipse] F = 4+? Base Combat Effectiveness. Blight + 1, Penetration +1.

Arkham's stunt to get Solidi out of danger would go quite well, although he was quite a bit faster than the bugs they did not fail to notice him. The flying bugs with their large amber-stained eyes would notice the man's movements apace. "Ahck!" The girl yelped covering her mouth while Arkham had turned and ran, he would be able to clearly hear some sort of spitting sound and something squelched upon touching the floor.

A seemingly sticky and repugnant mucus covered the floor from behind where Arkham had run. It was rotting the grass around it. As Nox swung around the now severed bug arm, she would find it to be quite a bit sturdy. She could figure out that though the arm could sufficiently swipe and slash, it was most effective when it came to piercing or stabbing attacks. Either way, it would act as a decent sword.

[Nox's [Attack]; [Strength] D(3) + Weapon [Insectoid Arm] E(2) + [Abiltiy] F(1) = 6 +1 ([Bleed] Blight)]
= [Nox's [Attack] (6) +1 - Bug's [???] ??]
= [Nox's [Attack] (4) +1 - Bug's [Exoskeleton] ?? -1 (Nox's [Penetrate] F)]
= [Nox's [Attack] (3) +1]

Nox's [attack] had once more proved quite effective, as she'd quite easily give the bugs a taste of their own weapon as she'd cleanly [Penetrate] through and shatter the bugs' armour. They violently bled their foul fluids. However, Nox had lacked the height to reach the flying bugs as they were about 10 feet higher than her attack could reach. (About 15 feet off of the floor) The first floater in the back buzzed forward as it moved closer above the group, they noticed very quickly the movement of Connor, as they pumped up their proboscis and spat a horrible blast of disgusting fluids toward him. He'd be in a sticky and quite unfavourable position if the attack landed...

Unfortunately for Nox, despite her quick wits, the third fly had already pumped up a blast and spat it in her direction. The disgusting fluid clung to her left leg... Surprisingly, it barely hurt only having a horrible sensation on her leg. Despite this, she'd be [Tangle]'d and would have to use an additional [Action] to free herself from the mucus.

The flies had completely ignored Jareth, it seemed despite their large eyes they could not sense his presence at all. Despite that, the floaters larger eyes made them quite a bit easier to hit than the regular bugs... If you could reach them in the first place that is.

Nox and the group would have to act quickly, as the gross large worm would scream quite horribly, inherently alerting the other bugs. Bending over as it began to crawl and wriggle toward the group with its bulbous slime creating a thick trail behind it. It opened its maw wide, revealing a dark hole with a loathsome smell and squirming fluids inside. It seemed like the thing could easily swallow the lot of them.

As the large bug prepared to scurry forward, the second bug which was in the back would dash past it, skittering toward Arkham to head in for a [Penetrating] strike.

The sizeable carcasses of the slain bugs lay all around Jareth, courtesy of his companions. Comparable in size to horses, it was literally as if they had strewn the field with horses for him to attempt to hurdle over. What's more, the frontline had changed with the rearguard of the insectoids advancing, their forces mainly comprised of aerial units at his point save for the presumed queen and a single footsoldier, who was presently attacking Arkham.

The footsoldier was using the same attack as its predecessors, but the aerial units that had moved up were now lobbing a slimy-looking projectile at anyone who approached. Nox had taken one such projectile and appeared to be stuck. In the midst of all this, the queen was doing something as well, it seemed. Exactly what it was going to do remained a mystery still, but Jareth could tell that its maw was quite sufficient to swallow any one of them. A gruesome fate to consider.

Solidi had been deposited next to Jareth. The girl's actions had been reckless and mostly useless so far. If these lapses in judgment continued, their efforts could be complicated even moreso than they have already. He turned to her.

"Mages don't belong on the frontlines. Most aren't as durable as I am." His tone was matter-of-fact. The academy in Ryken would have been a much safer place for her to learn practical battle strategy, but the situation was what it was. Solidi hadn't had a choice in the matter...just as he hadn't.

Now that he had caught himself up with current events, Jareth readied his weaponized arm as he set his sights on the closest target. Mounting and otherwise bypassing the bug carcasses would be unnecessarily difficult and inefficient. The many occasions of running from Osmond and his gang through the streets of Ryken had granted Jareth that much know-how, so he took a different path. Stepping behind Solidi, he ran down then turned to the right to come up on Arkham's left side. The nearby friendly on Jareth's right side wasn't opportune for making an attack with his right arm, so Jareth ended up making a last minute shuffling step to avoid striking Arkham by mistake, basically falling into his thrusting strike. Knowing that this attack, being new to him and all, would be inadequate, Jareth flicked his catalyst to channel additional mana down his right arm to perform a melee mana blast after the initial attack.

Shael was determining that the Big Worm Bug needed to be dispatched as quickly as possible. She was relieved that Solidi had been moved successfully as that could have gone extremely badly fast between anyone getting injured. Seeing Nox act with some ingenuity there made Shael think that depending on how things went she was someone who she wouldn't mind having on her team again to say the least. Granted that outburst earlier hadn't been great but so far she was relatively impressed with what had been going on there.

Jareth being one of the more experienced ones of the group had been more reassuring at first with how well he seemed to adapt to his environment too, as concerning as the sand shifting incident had been he was back and running again too, quickly adapting to the situation. As strange as the blunder had been Shael wasn't convinced that it had been in his control as it didn't seem to be particularly strategically advantageous to the team as a collective and it seemed that prior to that Jareth had been very focused on what was best for the team so something just wasn't adding up there. With all of that said his quick adaptation was somewhat impressive to her. As a result of the fact that he was able to bounce back so quickly she hadn't ruled him out as someone who she'd want in her adventurer party.

After examining the developing scene she figured her best course of action was to first to get a shot off at the large bug then moving back because at this point with how things were going she was concerned about whatever the bugs were preparing with their next moves, particularly with whatever the large one was preparing to do. Maybe if she was lucky she could help disrupt whatever the insect was trying to accomplish next. She still had it in her sights and in part thanks to Nox she could snipe at it. Shael aimed her bow and arrow at one of it's what she could only assume were eyes at it's head as she fired off a Stealth Shot at Big Worm Bug, making yet another Lunen arrow go flying toward the hostiles. She really was looking forward to when she could increase her fire power and get closer to her full potential. After the shot, Shael swiftly moved back 10 ft.

All the other party members maintained pressure on the other bugs as Arkham swiftly moved Solidi back away from the bugs ahead, just narrowly avoiding an attack from the now actively engaging flying insectoids. The ones that they have been fighting since earlier is one thing, but now these are enemies that he likely can’t even properly reach to deal any real damage...

The large worm at the center of it all now also seemed eager to join in on the fight, it’s intentions being made clear with the loud scream it let out of it’s massive mouth. In response, Connor moves [1] to the side, making sure that Solidi would be following suit as well, grabbing her if needs be. Maybe she would be fine anyways, but nearly all of her actions from before just isn’t making him confident at all that she knew how to even think of her own safety.

“Do your thing! No need to force what you aren’t good at if it’s just going to get you killed…”

Connor tried to encourage Solidi to focus on supporting the others, like what she did earlier before running to danger. At the same time, he kept his eyes trained on the big worm before them. With how much larger it is compared to the other bugs, he assumed it’s movements would be much more obvious. The whoosh of arrows also leads him to believe that there should be adequate support able to take care of the flies harassing them from above. Making a decision, Connor dashes in [2] towards the big worm’s left flank, attempting to do a nice and quick stab [3] at it’s wriggling body.

Actions:
[1] - Move south along with Solidi until out of reach of the Big Worm Bug's presumed attack
[2] - Move the rest of the way towards the southern flank of the Big Worm Bug
[3] - Attack with Katana (F)

Arkham Koenig

Arkham felt a surge of pressure when the potential queen of these gross bugs started to open her maw, something big was coming. Thankfully, The swordsman helped out by further putting Solidi out of harm's way. That left the queen and the bug reaching for him. Wanting to kill two birds with one stone, Arkham took a ready stance, and braced himself for the first attack.

As the now familiar [Penetrating] attack came his way. Arkham performed a [Blitz Counter F] Ducking under the incoming spike-legs of the horse-sized monster being thrusted at him. And performing a rising slash, straight to the bug's head. While also being mindful of how much strength behind his attack could use without it breaking. Which he then followed by a dive and a roll away from whatever the worm intended to do.

Actions:

1. Blitz Counter F with C(B) steel bastard sword.
2. Move 10 feet south
3. Reserved in case Action 1 requires more than one action.

Nox was quick to free herself from the disgusting goop that clung to her left leg. It did initially prove to be quite an ordeal but with her makeshift sword, she was able to do so with a little bit of effort and some careful scraping. That wasn't the end of her troubles though, for she was still well within range of the brood mothers gaping maw attack. An attack that, quite frankly, was far more disgusting to think about than that of the goop. So with a careful sidestep and pivot, Nox would both move out of the attack's area of effect and ready her footing for an attack of her own.

Bringing the makeshift blade down to her side Nox held it as though it were sheathed, her sticky left foot planted firmly behind her right as she awaited the beast's charge. Her eyes following its every movement, her heartbeat slowing with each and every passing moment. Her focus was entirely on this monster, those three that had escaped and the actions of her comrades blanked. Then, finally, as it would pass her by, eyes as big as they were, Nox would strike back with but a single well-placed slash. Her intention clear, her mind filled with but a single thought. 'Pierce through'.

Battle!

Arkham would need not attack, for by simply dodging the bug's attack he was doing enough, as Jareth's clumsy attack with his oddly formed arm proved to be much too affective against the bug, who was made to seem quite fragile in comparison, as Jareth's attack pierced through its hard exoskeleton.

[Jareth’s [Attack]; [Strength] F(1) + Weapon [Domain] E(2) + Ability D(3)] = (6)
[Jareth’s [Attack]; [Intelligence] C(4) + Catalyst D(3) + Ability D(3)] = (10)
= [Jareth’s [Combo Attack] (11)]

It was strong enough to kill the bug, with minimal effort. The bug was unable to see Jareth, who was obscured behind Arkham at the time it had enacted its attack. However, something else would notice Jareth, as a slick and foul-smelling mucus would latch itself onto Jareth's legs. The mucus was quite wet and sticky, making it difficult for Jareth to move his legs.

Arkham's movement south would be blocked from moving the full 10 feet down, as not only did a thick wall of trees block his path, but he'd directly step onto and between the brood of larvae which squirmed pathetically... However, the larvae were still quite large, letting out a terrifying screech as it was crushed beneath Arkham's boots.

Not only that, but the other larvae seemingly began squirming much more rapidly, as if trying to get away from him... Although they didn't seem to move much. Arkham's movement would catch the sight of a floater above him, as the bug shot its loathsome body fluids at him.

On the other spectrum, as the large worm began its charge forth, Shael's arrow flew into its slime-covered skin. It would find itself completely lodged into it. Her attack was not inefficient, it seemed like the large worm merely had a resistance to such attacks. The arrow had sunken deep into its thick skin, barely showing any sign of hurting it.

[Shael’s [Attack]; [Precision] C(4) + Weapon [Bow Catalyst] F(1) + Ability F(1)] = (6)
= [Worm Bug's [???] ?? - Shael's [Attack] (6)]
= [Worm Bug's [???] ?? - Shael's [Attack] (3)]
= Shael's [Attack] Fails(?)

Despite Connor's quick actions, his manner of attacking the bug was the least favourable option. As his blade would completely sink into the worm's bulbous flesh, being so close to the bug would allow Connor to take note of how truly thick the mucus on the bug was, seemingly completely neutralising his [Stab]. Boils beneath the skin squirmed, sweetly churning into Connor's katana. It was filthy.

[Connor’s [Attack]; [Strength] E(2) + Weapon [Katana] F(1)] = (3)
= [Worm Bug's [???] ? - Connor's [Attack] (3)]
= Connor's [Attack] Fails(?)

It was unfortunate as well, for Connor was a bit too light and weak for him not to be pulled along with the worm's swift slither, as it dashed quickly to where Shael was previously standing. Squelching as it relentlessly swallowed its fallen kin, as the party had all managed to move swiftly out of the way of the bug. However, the quick movement of the bug would come to a halt, as it began slowing down. Standing up for a moment, before falling over on its back.

On its left was a large cut wound, which was made by Nox. Connor and Shael's attacks were not for nought, as they had seemingly worn down the bug's thick skin, if only by a little. This would allow for Nox's attack to cut quite sleekly through the dashing bug.

[Nox’s [Attack]; [Strength] D(3)+ Weapon [Insectoid Arm] E(2) + Ability F(1) ] (6) +1 +1
[Nox's [Attack]'s [Penetrate] F nullified by Worm's ??? [??] ??]
= Nox's attack is successful.

However, despite Nox's well-executed cut against the presumed brood mother, her movements would not go unnoticed by one of the flying bug's which swiftly moved over as another burst of horrible violet was spat onto her legs.

Something was flying over, the sound of its wings was loud enough for even Shael to hear. Nox would see it first. Much larger than the worm which was approximately 3 meters long, it also seemed quite different from the usual ones. Not adorned in a purple exoskeleton like the usual vermin or thick mucus like the worm was. Instead, its body was translucent and similarly coloured to the larvae.

Being closer, Nox could make out how there were things moving within its translucent body, as flew into view with decadently large and iridescent wings, with some sort of powder flaking off of them as they flapped. That powder would begin filling the air as it would violently flutter its wings in the direction of the party, shimmering flakes beginning to fill the air in which they stood. It was dangerous to stay so close.

Its antennae were pulsing. It heard something. There was a rumbling in the floor, more were approaching. And quite quickly.

Connor and Shael would notice something peculiar with the corpse of the large worm. It was writhing. Moving. Mucus-swathed boils beneath eh thick skin were crawling, small eyes jittering as they slowly worked themselves out of the stubborn slime of the outer layer of the worm. Something... Somethings were trying to get outside.

~'Nox'~

1681070962877-png.1079750
Nox didn't have much time to relax following her strike on the worm-like beast she had dubbed the brood mother. In actual fact a monster far stronger than it very quickly made itself known thereafter. Indeed, of all the insects she had faced up until now, this one looked the most powerful as well as the toughest. A single strike would likely not suffice as it had in the past. Still, something had to be done about this translucent insectoid, and it had to be done fast if those flakes were anything to go off of.

Using her makeshift blade to free herself, Nox once again would move out of the proximity of the bug's attack range. Moving 4 feet to the left and then 2 feet down, Nox got herself into attacking range of the giant translucent bug. With the bug being 10 feet off the ground Nox would need to use an ability to strike at it. Alas, Nox had no ability that could reach so high, at least not one she had the energy left to muster. How cruel! Surely there had to be a technique, an attack this new body she had inherited knew. There had to be! An attack that could be launched at range and deal a blow devastating enough to cripple or outright kill her foe. There just had to be!

'There is'

There was.

'Moonlit' "Cascade"

Raising her makeshift sword above her head, Nox closed her eyes. Everything around her faded and for a brief moment, she found peace among the violent storm that was the current battlefield. It was there, in this peaceful and tranquil void, she grasped it. The technique she was looking for. "I see it".

"Apogee!"

Bringing her Blade down with a forceful slash, Nox's blade would create a traveling arc of energy. An arc of energy that glowed similarly to that of a lone moonbeam on an overcast night. It was beautiful and most importantly it was heading straight for the giant translucent insectoid without delay. This attack Nox had made, it was as though. No, it was in fact. An attack specifically for the target she wanted to defeat the most. The Giant Tranlucent Insectoid. Specifically, she aimed to sever its wing.

Shael was far from pleased after seeing her arrow hit the target and seemingly only doing superficial damage from what she could tell. What was worse was how far the large insect was moving across the field, until suddenly it fell over on it's back. She was really lucky that she had moved back when she had or there was no doubt that things would have gotten bad. That gave her a brief moment of relief as she was on high alert, but that moment didn't last too long when she heard the large wings flapping and saw the sizable insect looking like it was shedding powder. Suddenly an image of Mothra came into her mind for some reason, a random one from her past life perhaps before she snapped back into the present, unsure of why that image had manifested itself, since it wasn't particularly helpful to whatever was going on.

She then did a quick assessment of the field, Nox was engaging the strange flying one as she had broken free of the tangle. Hopefully that attack would do a number on it. The smaller one could be dealt with later. Then there was Jareth who she presumed could break free and take care of his respective nearest insect as well. But then there was the sound coming from the body of the worm as she saw shifting. This alerted her immediately as her ear twitched at the very sound, whatever it was it could be danger, what if it was another insect emerging? She figured it'd be good to preemptive strike it, but close range wasn't exactly her forte and she wanted to assist the others, the closest person who could even deal with the thing better equipped as a melee fighter was Connor.

"Connor, I'm not sure what's trying to get out of that thing but I'm not the most equipped to deal with a close range foe at the moment, if you could get on it stat it'd let me keep supporting the others before I help you clean it up if necessary." She announced with a sense of urgency.

She'd ready a Lunen arrow from where she stood with Stealth Shot and aimed at the head of the large translucent winged insect which was trying to spread powder all over the place. Shael then backed up 5 ft before readying her bow and aiming at the corpse of the worm so she would be ready to assist in dispatching whatever was coming out if necessary.

Jareth's arm shaped as one of the insectoid appendages managed to do the job despite his bumbling. This made sense as he recalled the group from earlier cannibalizing their fallen. The creatures were perfectly equipped to rend most any flesh, it seemed, including their own. Despite his weaponized arm being suited to the task, however, it was not suited to Jareth. He was as relieved as he was surprised when his arm began disintegrating, reducing down to its original size and shape. Unfortunately, the return of his natural form brought with it his unquenchable thirst.

Jareth's newly restored hand rose to his throat as his unpleasant grimace and foul mood returned. Taunted by his momentary peace, all he had was anger now that his suffering had returned. There was plenty to vent that frustration on in the air above him presently. Mana burst from his feet, freeing him of the sticky fluid. Facing the remaining threats, he thrust his catalyst into the air, using the large winged creature as a center point.

"Heretic's Halo!" Jareth growled as he reacquainted his voice with a scratchy throat.

Sand rose 30 ft into the air and began circling in a halo-like fashion. Rocks about the size of a humanoid head formed randomly throughout the sand halo. Once the stones had coalesced, they abruptly lobbed themselves at Fly 1, 2, and 3. The barrage would continue as long as necessary.

The katana buried into the big worm as Connor had hoped. However, he was quickly overwhelmed as it inadvertently provided a way for it to completely drag him with it as his arms and all that they were holding onto smacked against his torso. Barely hanging on as the other attacks also landed, they finally came to a stop many steps away from where he originally was.

Groaning, Connor stood up and gathered himself, grimacing as he slowly rubbed his chest. Now he was wondering if he’d see a violin shaped imprint on it considering the force that it also hit him with. He surveyed the area to get an idea of how the rest of the battle was going. A new arrival, a massive translucent flyer is now approaching. He needed to get back into it fast, and so put a foot on the worm’s corpse that was just slithering along with him a few moments ago. It was, and apparently, still is moving?

His eyes widened as he immediately kicked off from the corpse, pulling his katana out from the mucus covered flesh. Focusing on it once more, the flesh seemed as if it was boiling, and the appearance of what looked like eyes moving around and starting to emerge prompted Connor to bring up his weapon again at the ready. He quickly nodded at Shael’s words.

“Right, I got you!”

Not wanting to wait around for it to fully emerge, he immediately brought up the hand holding his violin [1].

“Damn this is disgusting…!”

Either way, his feelings of revulsion would lead him to quickly try and do as much damage that he thought he might be able to do [2]/[3].

"Thanks" Arkham stated with a nod to the sand man. He quickly incorporated himself, and looked around. Another pesky fly came his way and spat something his way. Not only that was his problem, since the mom of the flies arrived, sending forth a bunch of strange powder. Not wanting to deal with his current problems at the same time, he used [Freerunner F] to weave through the tree line, avoiding the fly's spit and the powder. Only coming out of it, if he saw an opening with no powder, having seen the stuff that the other bugs expelled. It wouldn't be anything but mildly harmful at the very least. So he tried to assess the danger before trying to approach it head on.

Actions:
1. [Freerunner F] out of the fly and the large bug's ranged attacks. West bound, until there was no powder, and then northbound
2. Action reserved in case 60 feet isn't enough to reach his goal (treading 15 feet through the trees. Reduced movement.)
3. [Appraisal E] on the large bug

Nox and Shael’s team attack proved to be quite effective, Shael’s arrow pierced through the bug’s left wing, and alongside Nox’s sudden assault would overwhelm the bug's left wing. Nox’s attack had successfully severed the wing, but not in a way Nox would expect. The wing shattered like glass, iridescent flakes and shards fluttered around momentarily before completely turning to dust.

It shrieked, falling backwards as it landed on the floor quite ungracefully. However, just because its wing was severed did not mean it would be defeated. It would quickly position itself in a manner to point the tip of its pulsating abdomen at Nox, from which it would blast a thick transparent string which would quickly [Incapacitate] the vampire before she could react.

Just as quickly as it had been fired, so was the fact that the silk would harden almost immediately, rendering Nox incapable of using [Actions] next round. That was except for being able to give out any verbal warnings or so. (Nox is unable to use [Move], [Attack] or [Defend] actions during the next turn.)

Being so close, Nox could see that the stunt had caused quite a bit of strife to the translucent creature. It stood still and seemed to keep its eyes strictly on everything else, deeming Nox as no longer a threat. Another thing Nox could see was the pulsing boils inside of its abdomen.

= [??? ???’s [???] ?? - Jareth’s Natural Armor [Heavy] D(3)]
= [??? ???’s [???] ??]

As Jareth had failed to remove himself from the area of effect he would find himself in quite a lot of pain. The shards planted themselves in the crevices(?) of his… particulate sand flesh… It would be more than enough to bring the mage down to his knees… However, on the brighter side, Jareth’s spell against the flies went without any problems. It seemed compared to everything else, they were completely weak. Even the most simple attacks may have been able to kill them… If they were able to reach that is.

Arkham’s appraisal of the bug would not be enough for him to inquire everything about the creature, however, it would reveal few important details. It was not the queen, but it was indeed the spawner of the nest in Haeddre. Surprisingly, its [Vitality] was its weakest attribute, and it seemed to have some sort of [Intelligence.] He'd also take note of how the bug was seemingly quite tired.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, a more familiar variant of the bugs would lunge itself at Arkham, attempting to attack him with its simple penetrating attack by outstretching its spindle-like sharp arm. It also extended out another arm, to also attack, it seemed to be quite keen on not letting Arkham harm the larger bug.

“Adventurer!” She yelled to Jareth, “U- uh… Are you alright? Wait wait, I’ll help!” She’d say, spinning ‘round the goldenrod flower twice and then gesturing a throw toward him as a flowery substance dusted onto Jareth’s back. It was not much, and could not fully revitalise the damage done by the bug’s attack, however, it would prove to at least allow him to stand again. [Healing E(2)]

There'd be no time for respite, as incoming from the western direction was another bug of the regular kind which would try its hand at attacking Jareth, with its arm outstretched, it went in for a piercing strike which was quite typical as of now.

[Connor’s [Attack]; [Intelligence] D(3) + Catalyst [Violin] E(2) + Ability E(2)] = (7)
[Connor’s [Attack]; [Strength] E(2) + Weapon [Katana] F(1)] = (3)

Connor’s attacks were not futile, for they had seemingly stopped what was inside of there… However, he couldn’t have attacked everything at the moment, he had stopped something, but not everything. Ripping out from the worm-like bug were two regular bugs which were inside. One of them lunged at Connor. It would not give any time for Connor to defend, as its tackle would knock Connor to the floor. The bug pinned Connor to the floor and began to raise an arm in an attempt to stab him.

"AHHH!"

Another one had ripped out from the head of the worm and found itself dashing toward Solidi. Being completely defenceless and unaware of her surroundings, she had no time to react. In comparison to everyone else, she was quite weak, the bug extended out its arm and pierced through the girl's back quite easily. She fell to the ground as the bug removed its arm. Her red braids mixed with the spilt blood gushing from the stab wound in her chest. The flower she held was dyed red as its petals were stained in a colour unnatural to the plant.

The heaths stirred. A harsh wind blew through the whispering trees as they would quickly spread rumours of this between roots and leaves. The air was putrid, filled with the foulness of the bugs' nest. Beneath that was the fragrance of the flowers which embellished the forest. Along with all that, now was the distinctly metallic scent which stained the air.

The halo had formed overhead as Jareth channeled his mana into the effect. The flies buzzing in the vicinity were struck down by the spell without mercy. Amid the splatter of their noxious juices, the stones collapsed into sand and slithered back to their conjurer. Along with that sand, however, an insidious addition had been added by the new insect flying overhead: shards of an unknown substance.

Unbeknownst to him, the glittering fragments were pulled into Jareth's being, and once there began festering in a most painful way. His body cringed oddly, uncertain how best to flex or extend in order to alleviate or get away from the pain. The sensation was like stepping on broken glass then the glass splintering and forcing its way further into the flesh of its own accord. When set upon by such a grievous affliction, reason is so quick to leave.

Jareth growled in agony as he began clawing at his arms, face, and body. When one place became too sore, he'd start slashing at a different spot. Instead of becoming bloody, Jareth's body crumbled away into piles of sand as he started aggressively tearing at it. He slumped to the ground unable to find a position that wasn't painful as he further disintegrated himself. His short swiping motions became long, raking drags along the afflicted area, removing much sand in the process. By the time Solidi moved to heal him, his arms were ragged, skeletal versions of themselves and his face had additional holes and divots in it.

Jareth sat hunched over, breathing heavily and shaking as the girl's magic began to work on him. It restored some of his missing portions but not all. He was just thankful that the painful effect had worn off. He turned to face her with a relieved sigh, "Thank you, Soli--" Before he could finish, a sharp appendage erupted through the girl's chest.

Her fresh corpse was unceremoniously tossed to the side as the appendage was pulled free of her torso. That was it. Another life come and gone. The insect that killed her had no comprehension of the weight of its actions. There was no convincing it to make amends or that concepts like 'morality' even exist, much less matter.

The sound of stones grinding against each other emanated from Jareth's body as he stood to his feet. Sand was flaking off him still from his scratching fit even as more collected to him from the ground. What was already assimilated began compacting into dense stone. Another insect was charging him from behind. Turning to face his attacker, Jareth raised his catalyst, pointing it directly at the bug.

"Let me show you...the weight of your actions!"

Jareth met the bug's piercing attack with his own, attempting to swat the attack away with his mana-infused attack. Afterwards, he would follow up with two more mana strikes. Each hit would fall with the weight of a boulder.

Connor’s magic infused attack seemed to slow down the movement inside the corpse before him. Encouraged by this fact, he doubled his efforts further to try and stop it completely. Stab, stab, and stab. He thrust his katana over and over again without caring for the slime and mess it is creating. His arms were burning and his breathing became laboured, yet Connor does not intend to stop until he makes sure that it, whatever it is, stays dead.

"Whuh!"

It was at a moment when Connor had his katana raised once again readying for another thrust, when the skin finally completely tore open. Fluids from the corpse was thrown up as two bugs burst out from the opening, one of them immediately pouncing on him. The sudden impact broke his balance and knocked him completely over, leaving him breathless. In a panic, he tried his best to push it over and off of him, but he neither had the strength nor the leverage to even be able to do so to get away.

He was now in a dangerous life and death wrestling match with a bug. It was a complete reversal; This time, the bug on top of Connor is repeatedly trying to stab him, and there was no doubt that the results would be way worse should it connect.

His view of the rest of the battlefield is obscured by the bug, and craning his neck upwards only let him see Shael engaging the other enemies further front.

“Ahh! Kill it!!”

Connor screamed in his distress as he tried to hang on, panting wildly as he moved his head aside, swung his arms across [1], anything to keep the sharp appendages away from him.

Initially Shael was quite pleased to see in the distance that her arrow and Nox's blade had contributed to bringing the flying insect which had been trying to spread powder down to the ground, meaning that it probably wouldn't be able to do that, even if she had been aiming for the head, debilitating the large flyer was something which benefited the group as a whole. But then Nox was incapacitated yet again, meaning that she was hopefully strong enough to break free since Shael couldn't risk coming over to her aid on that front of things with everything that was going on, on the battlefield.

Practically everything felt like it was going to hell in a hand basket real fast after Connor had slashed at what had been emerging from the corpse of the worm like Shael had told him too, they hadn't really had any other options in that moment, and there was no guarantee that things would have turned out differently if they took another approach but the situation they were thrown into in that moment was less than ideal to put things lightly.

Firstly Connor had been completely overtaken by the bug as it pinned him, and even while he was able to attack the thing, he was still in a very tight spot. All Shael could really do was hope that the rest of the group could handle themselves while she helped him out since she was the closest one to do so who was a capable of doing so.

What was even more upsetting that Shael saw in the distance was when one of the insects ran over and quite literally took Solidi's arm off. A look of shock fell over Shael's normally stoic face when she saw what had happened . It looked like no matter how hard the group tried to protect Solidi she was in constant danger. While she understood the Lady's reasons for getting her away from her 'brother' the fact that she sent Solidi with the group when the stakes were THIS dangerous really didn't make sense to Shael, for someone who seemed to be able to see forward in time no less. Even with this upsetting disturbing scene, Shael had to press on, seeing that Jareth had retaliated with quite a bit of force in response.

Instead of responding to Connor's exclamation for help verbally, as she didn't want to alert the insect, Shael tried to aim for it's weak spot again. While it didn't take notice of her she figured she'd use the opportunity to use stealth shot on Bug #1 s eye with her Lunen arrow. Hopefully she and Connor would get some form of team up bonus. A steely glint of conviction on Shael's face as she let the arrow fly, after Solidi's severe injury, her crusade against these bugs just got personal.

1. Use Stealth shot for an eye shot on Bug #1 whose pinning Connor.
Stealth Shot - Stealth F, Steady Hands F
Shael attempts to aim and take a shot at her target while undetected by being stealthy. Grade F - 0 post cooldown.

Nox's attack combined with that of Shael's was enough to ground the translucent insectoid, stripping it of its wings and dealing what seemed to be a fairly substantial blow. Though this small victory would not be without its consequences, that much was made very clear quite quickly. With the large beast grounded, it turned its attention to Nox, and before she could react the monster had wrapped her in a silk-like substance. A silk-like substance that hardened beyond what Nox would be able to combat. Yes, Nox was well and truly incapacitated, wrapped up tight in the creature's organic silk, unable to move, act or free herself. Nox was well and truly, stuck.

Unfortunately for the group, although Nox was incapacitated and completely unguarded, her situation would not be the worst among them. The worm-like bug she and the team had previously felled was now burst open and had released another brood of the horse-like insectoid monsters they had previously faced. Conner, the bard both she and Shael had journeyed here with, had found himself pinned beneath one such bug, screaming for help as he tried his best to strike it off of him. Meanwhile, a far more gruesome fate seemed to await the young priestess that had joined them. One of the freshly spawned brood moved to strike the young girl when she wasn't paying attention, piercing through the priestess's back with what seemed to be little to no effort. It didn't take long thereafter for Solidi to fall, seemingly lifeless onto the grassy earth, staining it red.

Watching as the battlefield devolved into chaos, Nox couldn't do anything to aid her companions. It was torture. Watching Solidi's blood spill out slowly, heard Conor's screams, and of course, seeing both Jareth and Arkham being attacked while she could do nothing about it. Pure, torture. And who had she to thank for this torture? This unjust and cruel assault? It was simple. The monsters. Monsters were to blame. Monsters. Monsters need to be 'exterminated'. This was why. Why monsters were Disgusting! And who out of all the monsters present was the root of this issue? Well it was obvious, wasn't it?

Looking away from Solidi and instead toward the Translucent Bug that stood just a few feet away from herself, Nox's eyes locked with its own. Her focus was razor sharp and her rage boiling uncontrollably. Eyes glowing a dim red, Nox's blood lust was very quickly beginning to leak out, her intent clear to even those without the [Insight] to typically decern such. 'Kill' 'Hunt' 'Kill'.

Fangs descending, eyes a glow, and blood lust spiraling out of control, Nox was slowly losing herself and her rational thought to her primal instincts [Moon-blessed Vampire]. Like a ticking time bomb Nox would impatiently await her chance to break free and hold nothing back thereafter.

Moon-Blessed Vampire-
A species of Vampire that has been blessed with vampirism as opposed to being cursed with it. Unlike their cursed counterparts, Moon-Blessed Vampires retain their Human title and feed on the blood of monsters. Moon-Blessed Vampires, though humans are still distrusted and typically considered outcasts due to their close link to their monstrous cousins. Moon Blessed Vampires cannot control their thirst or blood lust when around monsters, entering an enraged state where they will lash out at said monsters.

Arkham Koenig

Arkham luckily managed to get across the flakes from the wings of the giant bug. A good call, since taking a quick glance behind him, he saw the sand man in quite a bunch of pain because of it. But he had no time to waste, things were escalating, and they'd be overwhelmed if this trend continued. As he arrived to his desired spot, evaluation was due. He would need to share what he noticed until they got off this new threat coming his way: Yet another of the spike legged spiders.

Not wanting to fumble it, Arkham kept his guard up. Using [Blitz Counter F] yet again, Arkham weaved through the spikes by faking a dash to the south, only to truly slide off the spiked attack from the north. And with that opening created, Arkham went straight to slashing at the bug's face from the front. And of course , he continued to regulate his strength to a degree it wouldn't stress his blade further.

Having hopefully finished the purple monster, with a swift change on the grip he had on his sword, and an even swifter turn, Arkham stabbed the more imposing threat right on that abdomen of its. He considered being vocal about what he managed to detect, but given the fact that he detected some traces of intelligence, he decided to stay silent. He believed it would be for the best not to give the large abomination more excuses to run.

3. B grade Attack with [Bastard Sword C] at Large Translucent Bug
