Awful, Terrible, No-good Layabout
The Premise
If you thought the human realm was full of problems, you should see the divine realm.
Swamped every day between quotas to meet, lives to rebirth, fates to mold, and inter-dimensional invaders always trying to knock on humanity's door with a battering ram with pressure-activated explosives strapped to the head who require a good thrashing to teach a lesson to, the Goddess of Creation is getting mighty exhausted, with barely any time left for herself to hang out with the cool gods and play D&D (wish I was joking), and it's probably her own fault because she can't stop doodling instead of actually doing her work.
As a result of her own frivolities, she has taken on the idea to hire part timers from the human realm to deal with the employment issues of the divine realm, which is possibly the smartest move since the innovation of sliced bread.
The Meat of the Matter
The setting of the RP is in the modern world, 2016. The general mood of the RP is supposed to be somewhat upbeat with a dash of drama here and there, and a lot of dashes of action, featuring NPCs of various gods of various disciplines, all of them as weird as the last- the Goddess of Creation's procrastinating habits are the least of everyone's worries.
In essence, this is a magical girl/guy rp. And there are no stupid catches that your animes are giving you now. In fact, like human realm part-timers, these part-timers are also rewarded for their duties. The more intergalactic threats you beat up, the more money and other...divine rewards you reap. And like part-timers, they have a choice in whether they want to take part in inter-dimensional beatdowns or not, or just continue on life as per normal.
Characters
Players, of course, take the roles of the aforementioned part timers, with the Goddess basically giving them magical girl/guy powers so they can beat the stuffing out of invaders from other spatial dimensions, and also survive the occasional visits to the Underworld to settle their political issues. Their gods aren't exactly popular with the populace.
While the characters are given full-reign in almost everything, up to and including choice of what powers they can wield, there is only so much a rather busy goddess can do. She isn't anyone's personal tailor and can only grant a second form, something like a second skin, to her part-timers, based on some choices the characters will make during the interview section.
Due to certain biases, and her own youthful appearance, the Goddess of Creation only seems to want to hire teenagers, youths, and, at best, young adults. She is quite self-conscious about her own appearance, despite having been born before, and subsequently outlived the great-grandfathers of every living person on the human realm.
There are also limited space available. About uh, maximum ten? I'm a pretty shite GM, so I can't handle too many people, so ten is considered the worst case scenario, not the best.
Deaths
Seeing as you're facing space pirates and some equivalents of Cthulhu, death is going to be inevitable at some point. Don't worry though! Your employer is kinda something of the head honcho of life and all that! The paperwork is going to be sheer hell, but death won't be permanent, at least! Also, its extra painful to be digested in the intestinal tracts of whatever roams between the multiple realities, so that's also something you have to live with after your inevitable return to life.
Just don't die too much to be a burden, or you'll get fired.
Final Notes
All in all, what I have planned is (supposed to be) pretty fun, and is (supposed to be) a detractor from all the dark, edgy despairing and sadness thing that everything seems to be plagued with these days. A refreshing spring breeze, if you will.
Anyway, ping me if anyone is interested, as a vote of confidence so I can start getting off my ass to do something worthwhile.
Also, some tags while I'm at it.
