With a bit of back and forth on the radio, O-Ren is able to make a few overtures of peaceful intent to keep the SAMAS suits from coming in guns blazing. Two of the six come in closer to take a look at you in the Badger and Theo's mecha while the other six continue to circle at a distance of five miles out. Perhaps it was a good thing that you have done this, because the two suits of powered armor that land in front of you are not the old style, lightweight SAMAS, but theses are the newer, tougher Super SAMAS suits. Who knows what would have come of a fight between your group and six of these bad boys.

They come on in slow, hovering a moment before landing about a hundred feet out. They are warily eyeing the mecha, but still approach and stop a short distance from the APC. One of the suits opens up the faceplate to reveal a man face. "I am Sergeant Schmit, and if you wish to advance to speak with our commander, you will need to submit to a brief inspection of your vehicles. Once that is complete, you may advance with my squad as escort. You will be given strict instructions on what course and speed to maintain. If you deviate from that set course and speed, you will be immediately considered hostile, and dealt with accordingly. Will you comply?"

O-Ren gives everyone inside the Badger a look that spoke volumes. "Remember, behave yourselves." She then steps out the hatch, no weapons in hand, and walks towards the trooper in his armor. "Welcome, Sgt Schmit. You can begin your inspection of the APC as you ask, but I cannot speak for the operator of the mecha. He may not want to share details of his tech. I am O-Ren. Please, come forward."

"Ah son of a bitch those things are heavy metal as fuck." Theo couldn't help but say upon the moment he saw the power armor. "10/4, powering down for inspection." the great big mecha beings to shut down, but Theo still was rather... Antsy about this...

Hopefully these folk got a hand at playing with these folks...

Damn those power armors are cool. Though the head reminds him of a xenomorph...

Nasoth is sitting casually, now in the guise of a young human woman with red hair rather than the multicoloured elf she generally prefers when play-acting a biped. The smirk on her face leaves little doubt as to what she would expect from a confrontation with even these so-called Super SAMAS suits.

The two SAMAS pilots carefully look inside the Badger to make sure that there are not any nasty surprises inside, then they go over and take a glance inside the cockpit of Theo's mecha. Seemingly satisfied with what they find, they allow you back inside your vehicles and instruct you to follow along after them, with the other four SAMAS suits tailing behind a short distance.

Driving along, you come to a mid-sized structure completely walled in by heavy MDC plate metal slabs, topped with gun turrets capable of sweeping the air clear of any flying targets that would try to go over the top of the walls. You are told to park yourselves in a open field to the side where your equipment will be kept under watch until such time as you come back to them. A large truck comes rolling out of the open gate in the wall to gather everyone up. The truck is even large enough to hold Grond, no small feat in itself.

Once inside the wall, you can see that most of this outpost has been dug out and buried deep into the ground to provide more protection for the crew, with only a few small buildings that dot the inner field. Several dozen men and women in their armor are visible up and about on the surface, along with a pair of UAR-1 Enforcers that are keeping close watch on you. Both of the mecha are standing on either side of a tent that has been set up, and you can see several people inside examining the remains of some smashed Mechanoid equipment.

From one of the small buildings on the surface comes a trio of people, two men and one Borg, and they walk up to you as everyone climbs down from the truck. One of the men, a Lieutenant, steps forward, and he looks remarkably familiar to all of you, and from the way he's looking at you it would seem that he recognizes you too.

If you wish, go ahead and give me a Perception roll of a d20 to try and identify him.

Theo squints and tries to figure out who this guy was, not fully certain about Coalition types himself, but maybe he's seen his face before.

O-Ren steps forward and offers up a slight bow. "Greetings, Lieutenant. I am O-Ren Ichi, and these are my friends." She waves back towards the group, but doesn't introduce them. If they want say hello, that's up to them. "We are here in an effort to garner some allies in our effort to stop the nasty little buggers that have been attacking anyone that they come across out here. From what we have learned, there are a bunch of these bad guys waiting on the other side of a Rift, and if we can't shut them down before they can open it up again, we'll have a major flood of these things coming through to ruin all of our days."

As she talks, she looks over at this guy to try and identify him.

Perception roll bonus of+8

As O-Ren looks at the Lieutenant, she finally gets a spark in her mind telling her just where she has seen this man before. Remember when the Splurgoth attacked Haven, and the Coalition troops in town joined in the effort to save the place? Their commander was killed, and the ranking Sergeant too over. This is the same man! He was Sgt. Niko Morris, but it would seem that he's been promoted up.

Theo would recognize him as a fairly level headed member of the Coalition that he has come into contact with before. In your past dealings with Lt. Morris, he has treated you well despite the fact that you are what is generally called a DeeBee. From what you have heard, others of the Coalition are not so forgiving, and would consider even you, a human from another Earth, to be a monster to be eliminated.

"Well I'll be... I've met that man before... Can't say you meet a guy like that everyday, much less a coalition fellah not keen on blowin me up." theo commented as he looked around at all the coalition styled robots, power armor and such... all with the death's head motif...

How deliciously 90s.

it reminded him that he still had a boom cannon he needed to tinker with back in his mecha... best he keep that in mind.. And out of sight. he had sticky fingers, sure, but not like the thing ain't broken.

O-Ren looks at the newly promoted man with a careful smile. "Well, congratulations on your promotion, Lt. Morris. Officer's bars look good on you. I do hope that we can come to an arrangement, for all of our sakes."

Lt. Morris nods in acceptance of the congratulations. "Thank you. I had not expected to run into you again. You seem to be . . . looking well enough." He eyes your new (to him, at least) tattoos. "Interesting. I've seen marks like that before. Well. That's not important right now. You tell me that you have information about this new enemy and where they come from? What can you tell me about them?"

"We have found the base of operations for these things, and they are parked nearby a small Rift, trying to figure out how to open it wide to allow more of their kind onto our world. We were able to interrogate one of these things, and they are evil to the core. They have some crazy desire to wipe out all humanoid life they come across, and any creature that helps a humanoid is next on the kill list. The prisoner claimed that even the Splurgoth with all of their power would not be enough to stop the invasion. This might be just boastful bragging in the face of its captors, but if there is even the slightest hint of truth behind this claim, we have to stop them here and now."

O-Ren pauses for a moment, trying to gauge the reaction on the Lieutenant. "We know where they are, and we can stop them. But we need the help of everyone we can get. Will you support us in this need?"

Morris looks over at the rubble of the destroyed Mechanoids that the technicians are working on and he frowns. "I agree that these things are a danger; I've lost good men to them already. What forces are you planning on leveling against this threat? Do you want the Coalition to bear the brunt of this for you, or will there be others joining in on this fight?"

O-Ren smiles in understanding. "It would be easy to think that we were hoping that the Coalition would be the only armed forces involved in the fight. That's not the case. We have many allies lined up, including the group you see here. In addition, our old friend Sir Talbert and his team will be there, and we have another mecha pilot lining up some magical assistance to try and shut down the Rift before it is blown wide open to unleash a flood of these monsters." She takes a deep breath before continuing.

"I know that the Coalition has its . . . issues . . . when dealing with magic. But, in this fight, I cannot in good conscience not reach out to the wizards that will be coming. I would hope that you can put aside your natural inclinations to regard them as an enemy and see them as temporary allies, the same way we were in the battle against the Splurgoth in the town of Haven. Please, can we count on your help?"

Uncomfortable as it is to be back among the Coalition, for extremely mixed reasons, Alley nonetheless speaks up much as the Rift Control Study Group Scientist she once was.

"I'm not a fan of magic either, Lieutenant," she says, offering a reassuring smile. "Despite the company I keep, I'm a firm advocate of science. From a scientific viewpoint, we've never developed an effective method for shutting down a Rift. So if there's a chance these wizards can accomplish that, Earth is important enough...well, the Rift just needs to close one way or another."

"That said, this doesn't have to be a losing fight against superior forces. These invaders largely operate along technological lines as well. Which means if I can get inside their fortress, I think I can trigger an overload and blow the whole place up. So, we don't necessarily need overwhelming force to smash through their mecha and all of their base defenses. Just enough force to draw them out, engage them and keep them occupied so I can flip the switch on them."

Nasoth sulks in the back of the Badger and mumbles about how getting Alley in there was her plan all along and they could be done with that already without involving any kind of lobster, black or otherwise. It is at times like these that one is reminded that despite her potential for destruction, the dragon-in-woman's-clothing has yet to see the end of her first year in this world.

The Lieutenant scowls, then slowly nods. "I have a little leeway to be able to deploy some troops out. I won't send the entire garrison, but I can manage to free up a few mecha and some powered armor. I'll leave the Skelebots here, because their programming would regard your mages as targets and engage them too. Do you have a rendezvous point to meet up at? It will take me an hour to select my troops that I'll send along."

O-Ren smiles. "Good to hear you are on board with us. I promise to do my best to keep your people away from the mages and other types that would cause friction between us. It will still be a few days before our full team is ready, so you have time to prepare. Here is our usual radio frequency, and a good assembly point that we are using. With your people coming along, we have a real good shot to do some good in this world. Thank you."

Turning to the others, she says, "Well, lets go before we cause some problems by hanging out around here. We can go get Sir Talbert and the rest from Haven and meet up with everyone at the assembly point."

"Thank God for the Coalition."

As the group head back to the Badger, Alley chuckles as she looks over her decidedly heretical companions. "Never thought I'd ever say those words again."

"Hoo bpy, glad to know were not alone on this npw.." Theo finally let out, looking like just a little bit of the weight of the world was off his shoulders.

"Glad to see I wont be the only one. Gunning these things down.. God knows the Spartan is to big to fit.."

With the meeting over, everyone makes their way back to their respective vehicles. From what you can see, there is no signs of anyone tampering with your mecha or the Badger. Everyone gets back inside their particular rides and you start to move south, heading back to Haven to pick up Sir Talbert and his friends to aid you in the upcoming fight. It will take Hagan some time to get to his meeting with his mage friends up north, so there is plenty of time to get back and pick up everyone and be on your way to the rendezvous point with everyone.

It takes some time to drive back to Haven, but at least, this time on the road there is no encounters with the Mechanoids. When you get to the small town, Sir Talbert is there, waiting for you with his friends. Wasting little time, he asks, "Well, how was your meeting with the Coalition? Will they help us on this effort to rid the world of this evil?"

"Troops, mecha and power armor," Alley answers. "They're not going to send everything local but they're going to send something at least. Any port in a storm, right?"

The ex-Coalition scientist looks around Haven again and feels surprisingly nostalgic. She'd lived here for most of a year and though the reassembled Misfits had been on the road for a while now, coming back felt a lot like coming home. An experience she never expected to have again.

"We should probably finalize our plans and get to this, before Nasoth gets cranky and starts eating the Badger out of ire."

"Why would I eat the Badger? It doesn't look even remotely tasty. I'm more likely to eat you!" The young dragon insists and proceeds to stick her tongue out at Alley.

Alley blushes, then laughs and shakes her head. "So many innuendos there. Maybe take me out for dinner and drinks first then we'll talk."

The scientist then covers her mouth with her hand and vainly tries to pull her composure back together.

O-Ren lets out a laugh. "Oh dear! We have a dragon on the rampage! Everyone run!" She smiles at Nasoth and Alley, enjoying the light-hearted banter. "Sir Talbert, we have a growing team of allies. All we need is the magic users that Hagan has to line up, and we will be ready to take on these Mechaniods."
