The Known Stranger
Name - Adrian Aylian
Age- 22
Role - Northern Kingdom Royal Knight
Powers - Adrian's special branch of Ice magic is what he calls "Winter's Blade" By using different handles as a base, he can create a bladed weapon of almost any shape. Axe, Sword, Dagger, Spear, etc. He's currently training to improve the strength of the ice.
Likes-
- Music, particularly softer sounding instruments. he likes to hum or sing along to the melodies.
- Training, he is extremely dedicated to his position as a knight.
- the smell of baked bread.
- Success, safety, strength.
- Watching the sunrise (usually alone)
- Little children
- Watching Families be a family
Dislikes-
- Disruptive noise, prefers quiet and concentration
- People who would interrupt a tender moment unnecessarily.
- Failure, weakness
- being the center of attention
- Slimy things, like Snails and slugs.
Fears-
- His main fear is his own weakness, that one day he'll come face to face with an enemy and be unable to do anything but watch as the people he is charged with protecting are killed/captured/tortured, etc.
- Being left alone and forgotten, treated as something useless.
- Seeing the Prince never make up with his family.
Weaknesses (Personalty wise)-
- Adrian is often at odds with himself. he pushes others away and rarely opens up, but fears being left alone. he is overly serious when it comes to his work as a knight and takes his duty of guarding the royalty almost too seriously. Everything he is as a pereson is dedicated to the Royal Family, even more so than to the country itself. The eldest Prince especially. He tends to approach dangerous situations head on, and will take out his feelings through combat (or at least some fairly violent solo-training)
Strengths (Personalty wise)-
- Adrian is very honest, he doesn't like to lie in order to keep secrets. He is also exceedingly loyal to the royal family. While he might be cold to others, he truly cares for the protection and well being of others and would rarely hesitate to put himself in danger to keep others safe. This is more than just physical danger though. Despite his cold appearance, he's always willing to lend an ear to the troubled thoughts and feelings of others. Once you're past his cold exterior, he's willing to share his interests with others and even tell stories about himself.
Bio -
Adrian was born into a relatively wealthy family. It wasn't some high noble line or anything, but he never went hungry. His young years were spent studying, especially in the art of magic and combat, and enjoying himself with his parents and various maids. Occasionally he'd be able to hang out with other kids from the village, but his main companions were the various maids and servants around his small mansion home.
At the age of 15, the earliest possible, Adrian Joined the royal academy in order to train for a position as a Royal Knight. As he'd left, he'd made a promise to his family, that he'd become a knight worthy of protecting the royal family. Training was hard and the competition was harder, but he knew the okay to standing out would be through his magic ability. After testing a few ideas he settled on being able to form his own weapons with his ice magic. Some time passed in this manor, with Adrian dedicated to his training, when he made an unexpected friend in the oldest Prince, who was studying his own swordsmanship and leadership at the Royal academy. even more surprising to Adrian, was that the two of them had gone down the same path of magic specialization. The prince was of course, more adept at using his ice to form his weapons, but it still reaffirmed to the young Adrian that he made the right choice.
Adrian's friend was called away as the news began to spread: the West had invaded and the armies of the North had (so far) been unable to stop them. For most at the Royal knights academy it meant they'd be going for war. For Adrian, it was dark news. His village had been near the border of the North and western Empires and if the reports were accurate, the Western armies had come straight down the roads that went through his home. There had been no reports of refugees or survivors. His home was gone. And very likely so were his family and everyone he'd known before leaving for the academy.
So while the other knights talked of the war, talked of great feats they would preform or ignorantly talking down the generals and soldiers fighter many miles away, Adrian withdrew alone into his studies. Haunted by his loss, the fact that he'd been sitting here comfortably when his family had been attacked, he put everything into the last promise he'd made to his mother and father: to become a Knight worthy of protecting the Royal Family.
His efforts did not go unnoticed for long. His prowess at magically-formed blades soon had him called from the academy to join the forces on the field. As it turned out, it would be a reunion with his once-friend the Eldest Prince, who'd been out in the field for some time. Adrian joined the Prince's special unit of soldiers, along with other high-ability warriors. Along with the Prince, Adrian found he got along well with a female soldier by the name of Achillea. In the Prince Adrian found his new purpose. Not only to serve him as a knight, something Adrian was happy to do both as to fulfill his promise to his lost family, but also as a friend. He never directly inquired, but Adrian could feel the prince's longing for his own family, whom he must have had very little contact with over the years. As the war ended and Adrian was invited to continue to work alongside the Prince as a Royal guard, Adrian set himself a new task: to help the prince to reconnect with his family. Hemay have lost his own family, but if he could help his friend live happily with his then he would have no regrets.
