The Overlord
Setting: Elmville, Solace

Day: September 1

Scenario: First day of school

School Name: Aguefort Adventuring Academy [Go Owlbears]

It was a nice sunny morning in the small town of Elmville for those living there. That's what Jason thought as he woke up in his bed with the light of the sun shining into his room. It was going to be his first day of high school and he was excited to see what the year had for him. A lot of his classmates from his middle school weren't going to the Aguefort Adventuring Academy but he at least would have his buddy Jace along for the ride. He was only one of the few people in his life besides his family immune to his charms so it would be nice to have him around. With that in mind he wasn't going to get anywhere if he stayed in bed. Getting up he quickly dressed himself and was trying to get out before his mom caught him.... Sadly that was not the case for today.

"Jason dear are you not going to eat breakfast before you leave?" asked Vivian Bladesong. "You won't be able to maintain your energy if you go off without something to eat." His mother meant well but if he didn't get moving she would be wanting to check every inch of him before to make sure he was perfect in every way.

"No mother it's fine I'm just gonna get something on the way to school so I can get there early. I hear the listings for our parties were made ahead of time so I wanna get there before they get swarmed." That was mostly true since if he showed up and there was a big crowd all in the same place he was bound to become the center of attention. The reason was also so he didn't have to sit through a large feast of food that he won't be able to finish. Not giving her a chance he dashed out the front door with his guitar slung over his shoulder and his rapier at his side. Now jason lived in a mansion and his family was extremely wealthy so you would think that he would have his own limo for school but that wasn't his style. With some convincing his father and the police chief he was allowed to ride a motorcycle just as long as he never left Elmville on it. Inside the garage he hopped on his red and black motorcycle and jetted off to school.

On the way Jason stopped at Murphy's Diner and picked up his breakfast that he asked the owner for the day before. It was ready for him when he got there so he in and out real fast. He didn't wanna stop so he just kept going until he finally made it to the school where you could see that tons of students had the same idea to try and show up early.

"There goes my grand plan......."

Slowly and reluctantly, Hulong peeked out from under the covers of his bed. His eyes fluttered open, blinking once, then twice, as he languidly pulled himself out of the realm of dreams. Streaks of sunlight penetrated through the window, blinding in it's brightness. The dragon sat up in a lethargic manner, dragging his legs off of the bed as he rubbed his knuckles into his eyes. A yawn escaped his parted lips as his head bobbed up and down listlessly, watching as his legs dangled just above the soft, woolen carpet.

It was the start of a brand new day.

Hulong very nearly groaned at the thought, the slight downturn of his lips being the only indication of his mood. Pushing himself off of the bed, the young man sluggishly made his way out of his bedroom to get ready for his first day of school. School, now wasn't that a strange thought? It was unfamiliar territory, something he'd rather not have to deal with, but his brother had insisted that it would be a good experience for him. So here he was, walking up to the gates where quite a few other students already were. There was one in particular that somehow caught his eye, a young man with tan skin and a shock of white hair.

He exuded a kind of charm that was difficult to ignore, though it didn't seem like anything fantastical in origin. Green eyes couldn't help but stare for a few seconds longer before going on his way—his brother mentioned something about a party list, hadn't he?

Jason (Jay)

It was morning. Jason hated mornings. He preferred when the moon was out and the night air was filled with the sound of nocturnal animals. This morning especially was going to be unbearable. It was his first day at school. And that meant people. Jason didn't like interacting with people. It was easier to interact with animals. People were complicated and judgemental. Animals were simple and friendly. He sat up in his bed and rubbed his eyes. His sister was still snoring away in her bed. He put his socks on and got his pet snake Sevestes out of his terrarium, putting him around his neck. Then he shook his sister gently to wake her up.

Sarah

Sarah was dreaming. It was an odd dream. She was a little girl, playing with two faceless adults and what appeared to be a giant chocolate muffin with dog legs and a tail. She was running away from the muffin, smiling and laughing, but then a giant hole opened up beneath her and she fell. In the dream, she snapped her fingers desperately as she was falling, and just before she hit the ground, she woke up to her brother shaking her awake. "Uhhggg... Is it morning already?" She complained. Like her brother, she was not a morning person. But even more so than him, as she was half-vampire. Her brother responded. "Yeah. It's time to get ready for school. We don't want to be late on the first day. Even though I wish I could sleep through it." Sarah got out of bed and yawned, stretching her arms. "I'll go get breakfast ready. You go take your medication." She said. "I'm not a kid." He responded. "You don't have to remind me." "I'm still technically older than you. Just go while I make french toast."

Jason(Jay)

Jason sighed as he opened the drawer and got his medication out. He took the little red pills and chased them down with a glass of water that he kept by his bed. "So what should we do now Sevestes?" He asked his pet astral snake, gently stroking his head. "I vote we go back to sleep and pretend school doesn't exist." The bright blue serpent responded with a flick of his tongue and a slightly disappointed expression. "Fine. Socialize with strangers it is." He said. "I wouldn't get anything done without you." He told his serpentine companion. As the day moved on, he and Sarah ate their breakfast, showered, and got dressed for school. Sarah, as usual, was wearing a hooded sweatshirt, and her classic illusion horns. "You shouldn't wear those to school. People will think you're weird." He said. "I think they make me look majestic and beautiful." She joked. "Besides. It's funny to see people stare at them." "Just lose the horns." Jason said. "Fine." She said, dispelling the illusion. Eventually, they made it out the door and to the front gates of the school. There were already a significant amount of people around. "Well. Prepare to die." His sister half-joked. Jason swallowed his fear and took his first step onto school grounds with his sister.

There was a knock on the bathroom door.

“Kleia, time to get out of the tub. You’ll be late if you don’t hurry up.” From within, a soft hum was replaced with quiet groan and then a splash as the young naiad climbed out of the lukewarm water and dried herself off. Long, slippery locks of snow white hung from her head and stuck to her skin. A few minutes later emerged a dressed and still somewhat soaking wet Kleia. The water from her hair darkened the jade-green, oversized sweatshirt she wore. Her mother, Cassy, rolled her eyes.

“You couldn’t bother to dry off a bit more?” Kleia cracked a smile and scooped up her bag and her lily – which was floating in a little round fishbowl – before slipping on down the hall. “Sorry, Mom. I have to go!” Her body was buzzing with excitement… until she got to the front gates of the academy.

Her steps slowed to a stop and she hugged the bowl a little bit tighter to her chest. “Here we go…” Her breath quivered. The mob of students standing around completely blocked the petite girl’s path. It stressed her out, but at the same time her eyes widened with astonishment. There was such diversity among the students – elves, dwarves, kitsunes, and humans alike. She hoped she wouldn’t stand out too much. As she bobbed and weaved to try and see her assignment she left little wet footprints.

“Hmm…” Kleia stood up on her tip toes to see over some people.

hiding under a large pile of pillows Telith slowly poked his hood covered head out it was a dreadful day, the first day of school. he didn't want to go he just barely got used to everyone in his previous school, and there was that one elf girl she was scary, the two dots within the black void that hid his face glowed a bright orange. he just didn't want to go. his attention was the flaming rip in reality, that signalled the arrival of one of the few people Telith was comfortable around.

Alrosk had woken up early the normal, this would be exciting, hight school an entirely different group of people to talk to and feed off of not that she would exactly admit it, but hey new people were fun. but the next question on the demon's mind was what exactly to wear, nothing too much but also not too little, she stood looking at herself in the mirror before deciding on a corset with a sort of fishnet upper shirt. instead of putting something like this on she just used her shapeshifting to apply them to her body. then leaving her room making sure to pass by her father giving him a hug goodbye then heading outside, she had someone to pick up her absolutely adorable cousin, and good thing they lived next door opening up a portal she walked through it appearing in the boy's room. as usual, he was, the smell of anxiety and fear utterly drenched him, pulling Telith out of his "bed" she immediately dragged him into a hug "moring cutie you excited for high school?" she asked him sweetly

Telith hugged Alrosk back without hesitation it always made him feel better although he most thought that was just her draining away his fear, nuzzling her chest for a little he flicked his head up the two dots within his hood having changed to a mixture of green and orange "well... i... I'm scared... ok... i don't.. want to deal.. with all those new people... their.. so... i.." he stopped talking just resting is head-on Arlosk shoulder as she patted him on the head "hey it will be ok, ill be there with you now come on let's get going before where late" arlosk replied back to him almost like a parent would before she pulled the both of them through a portal

TRANSITION
pulling at the school gate Arlosk and Telith hopped out of the car the large demon sitting in front Teliths adoptive father waved them goodbye before he had to head off to work himself. and the school grounds seemed already full of.. people Telith stood behind Arlosk trying to avoid notice however the demons outfit was definitely a eye turner "aww Telith don't worry so much this happens every year I don't know why it still scares you" Telith remained silent, Arlosk, on the other hand, noticed the odd silver-haired boy there was something about him she couldn't exactly put her finger on BUUT they seemed to have something attractive about them so to speak, thusly she approached them "hey their sweetie what's your name?"

Telith was about to follow Arlosk just so he could hide behind her, be he was instead distracted by something else another person they had silver hair and a pair of horns, and well he and odd feeling about them, unlike the normal feelings of fear it was one of curiosity, they kinda looked like him, well if he didn't hide under his hoodie the dragon's eyes shifting from a deep orange to a mix of yellow and light blue as he just sort of stared at them... could they be another dragon? at this time Arlosk had already gone off to do her own thing meaning Telith was alone, looking around at it seemed he wasn't getting any looks so that was good, maybe he could talk to the other dragon? if they were one? but... what if he got it wrong? then he would look like an idiot but he was pretty sure... maybe he could... try? yeah, it was just one person right? he could say hi to them? that was simple right? Telith moved towards the other dragon slowly keeping his head down not wanting to make eye contact "umm... hi....." he said to them shakily keeping a fair distance still (but enough that they could probably tell who was talking to them) just so he could make a quick getaway if things started getting uncomfortable.

Hulong's pale green eyes blinked upon hearing a small, shaky greeting directed towards him. His gaze flitted towards the trembling form of the boy who had approached him. Another dragon, he could immediately tell, though this one was of a different breed—western as opposed to his own asian heritage. Their kind were inherently solitary creatures, so why the other saw fit to speak to him, he hadn't the slightest clue. Regardless of the reason, however, he could distinctly remember the voice of his brother telling him to "play nice" with the other students. And so...

"What business do you have for approaching me?" Nailed it Hulong questioned, head tilted to the side as though regarding a particularly interesting crack on the ground.

Let it be said that Hulong was not the best when it came to social interactions. His natural demeanor more often than not has him coming off as cold and dismissive, especially towards strangers. Nevertheless, the dragon felt that he had done a decent enough job at "playing nice", completely unaware of how he appeared.

Grania Montgomery
Beep-beep. Beep-beep. Beep-beep.

The constant beep of the vexatious digital alarm-clock's alarm went off at a loud and constant pace directly beside Grania's bed. It was sitting on a small night-stand she had recently acquired off the corner of someone's yard. It had a sign on it with "FREE" in big red letters that drew the eye even with the slightest of glances towards it. Her eyes shot open and she herself shot right out of bed fast as a bullet. Her feet collided with the worn beige carpet of the cruddy apartment her and her sister had been staying in with a muffle thud. Brownish-red eyes glanced about the room slowly, first assessing the sister-sized bump in the other bed, then towards the still beeping alarm clock and finally rested on the ceiling as she yawned and pressed her thumbs against her eyes rubbing away at the crust that had formed their while she slept.

A pale fist came down on the alarm-clock rather quickly after it had finished cleaning Grania's eyes. Annoying thing, it could have woken her sister up and that would have been far too rude of her. She never wanted to bother Rielle in any drastic manner, unless of course Rielle was doing something she definitely was not supposed to be doing. Well, something Grania thought she shouldn't be doing, then it was time to bother but letting her sleep in for a few minutes longer was certainly not one of those things. Grania lightly scratched her hip as she darted through her morning routine in fifteen minutes flat. She showered, brushed her teeth, and brushed her hair as fast as she possibly could.

For that day in particular she had chosen to go with a less casual outfit than usual and picked out her most prized formal dress. She slowly buttoned up her white shirt, making sure to button every single one so that the collar was so tight on her neck it restricted her ability to look down. She slipped into a red plaid skirt that had a frilly hem and hopped on one foot as she pulled her high-rise socks up to her upper-calves. Next came the coup de grâce as she clipped her pair of rainbow suspenders onto the front and back of her skirt to add a bit of flair to her look and fastened a matching bow-tie around her collar. There was nothing wrong with giving a bit of fun to something formal.

She glanced back at the Rielle-like bump in the other bed and found a frown on her face. A frown that was immediately replaced by a grin as she tip-toed her way beside Rielle's bed and stared down at her. Grania put her arms out above her head and jumped, she jumped right on top of her sister lightly flailing and kicking as she landed.

"WAKE UP WAKE UP WAKE UP!" Her voice came out as a loud screech as she flailed and shouted trying to wake up her sister. Although, she did push herself off of Rielle as quickly as she had gotten on and made her way to the door in a small jog. "Sorry, had to get you up! Show up to school!" The order came out with a peppy giggle while Grania slammed their door shut, loudly. and made her way to school with a brisk walk. That walk ended when she walked through the school gates, her fingers twiddling between each-other as she noticed a crowd, and immediately went flying. She landed on her butt hard and accidentally kicked the back of a dripping wet girl's calves.

Velexana Fairbrooke
While she laid in bed wonder crossed Velexana's mind, what was she doing lying in bed for so long. Why had she woken up so early? Where was her breakfast in bed? Where were all the servants buzzing around the house, cleaning and readying it so she could not be barraged by the sight of uncleanliness. Ah, that was right Daddy had decided for an early retirement and now they were trapped in a tiny microscopic two-story home without any servants.

With a sigh Velexana rose from her queen bed, running her hand over the silk green blanket embroidered with her name on across the center and in each of the corners. She stood up out of bed in silk green pajamas that had her name embroidered around the ankles of her pant-legs that covered most of each foot. She slowly stomped on the polished wooden floor below her feet over to an elegantly carved wardrobe. It had her face carved into it, it split when the doors were open. She put on a simple outfit. A bright-pink ballgown with her hair braided into a fishtail braid that she let rest over her left shoulder.

She let her dress trail across the ground as she swayed her hips, walking with her back straight and chest puffed out on the way to high school. It was her first day and that meant it was time to cement herself as the most important person there. Everyone would have to know how she was at the very top of the pyramid, sitting on her glass throne. She ignored everyone, merely glancing down her nose at them to let them know their place. She even went as far as to shove some of the other students as they got in her way until she made it into the building. Time to begin her high school reign.

"Fucking-"

Rielle immediately flung away her blanket and tried to grab whatever had jumped on her and screeched but whoever it was had already removed herself from the bed and out of grabbing range. She watched what looked to be her sister leaving while saying something about going to school. What was she even wearing? Rielle could only see rainbow. The entire interaction was only under two minutes and she was still in a daze of sleep - teetering between going back into the dream world or facing the real world. Then again, she couldn't exactly just skip the first day of school. Well, she could but she at least needed to see the curriculum guides.

She looked over to the clock that they had and saw that she had more than enough time. It was very tempting to just stay in bed, however, even if it wasn't as comfortable as the bed back at home. But, Rielle wasn't going to exchange the relative lack of animosity in the house for anything. Though the fact that they weren't exactly welcome tenants anymore was a problem. Thankfully, Mikael had already agreed to housing the siblings and his aunt was cool with it too. She couldn't believe that someone had enough will to stalk Rielle to her home and then mess it up when both her and her sister were out. And it was a good thing Grania didn't get involved or Rielle was going on a manhunt.

"Yep, not going back to bed after that thought." She picked up the blanket she had thrown away and then began to fix her bed. Much like her sister, Rielle had gotten prepared for the day in a short span of time - only taking thirteen and a half minutes in total and that was because she wasn't in the mood to actually go anywhere. Unlike her sister, however, she was not keen on dressing up at all. She grabbed a pair of pants, a black shirt and put on her jacket. She grabbed her fingerless gloves and put them on before grabbing her gauntlets.

What was good about this damn school was that it allowed its students to carry around their weapons. When she heard about it, Rielle felt like this would be a little more fun and a little less biased than the previous school systems that she's been in. But who knows, right?

Shouldering her backpack, Rielle went on to lock the apartment for probably the second to the last time ever. She couldn't blame the owner for being worried about the wellbeing of the other tenants so she couldn't spitefully make some hilarious trap for whoever opens the door next. Oh well, that was a shame.

Rielle was practically jogging to the school - might as well get some exercise in before school. Even if it was just a short jog, just to warm herself up. Once she arrived at the school gates, she clicked her tongue as she saw the crowd of students. Man, if she knew it was going to be busy, she would have turned up late. Though instead of trudging through them immediately, Rielle looked around for any sign of... anyone she knew really. That tall idiot boy surely would stand out. As she was looking around, she saw a woman in a ballgown practically plowing through the other students who either cowered away in fear or got shoved to the side.

Well. This was going to be an interesting school. Rielle was going to make sure of it.

Jason had only been there for maybe a minute trying to figure out where he was gonna park before he was approached by a demoness. She looked like the type who's used to getting the attention from others and not the other way around from the way she dresses. Jason didn't see any reason not to give her the time of day especially since it was the first day of school. You never know they could be in the same class and his natural charm doesn't stop people from not liking him when he is not near them.

"Names Jason Bladesong and whom do I have the pleasure to speaking with. I don't remember meeting any demons in town like you. Pretty sure I wouldn't forget such a beautiful face in such a small town." Jason wasn't even lying which was good since his mother taught him to avoid speaking any lies at all cost if he could. Besides even though Elmville was home to many different kinds he hasn't actually met that many demons. It wasn't like he did anything out of his way to avoid them it's just that ever since the War between the demons and the mortal realm the world a large has strange relations between mortals and demons. From what Jason knew if a higher demon of some kind needed to fill out paperwork and submit it to his dad's office before they could even enter Elmville. He doubted though that the one before him was high level at all since she was a student.

While he was giving the girl in front of him most of his attention three other things did come to mind for him. How much longer was he gonna be on his motorcycle, he really needed to get to that list without getting swallowed by the crowd, and where in the world was Jace.

Waking up to the alarm he set, Varei got out of bed and slipped on a pair of slippers before stretching. "Alright then. Time for school I suppose." After getting dressed, taking a shower, and eating breakfast., Varei still had a bit of time before he wanted to leave. His logic was that everyone would end up having the same idea today; arrive early and first. Doesn't work when everyone does the same thing though, so he planned on arriving just a few minutes before class, taking a quick look at the party roster, and heading to class. He messed around with a few crossword puzzles, before looking at his watch, and heading out. He stopped by a small store on the way, and grabbed some nuts and cheese, before heading off again. Luckily he helped out there when he had free time, so they let him in a few minutes before they actually opened.

Upon arriving at school, he could see that for the most part, a lot of students were still crowded around the front of the school, looking at the postings.
"Well I guess they couldn't see them until now though, they are all about my height." He checked the party listings, and noticed a couple names he recognized, which surprised him a bit. He hadn't had time to visit Grania the last month or so, as he was helping his parents out with the hot spring, getting it ready for winter. He noticed his sister was out front, looking for someone. Probably him. He walked over and waved a greeting, letting her know he was there. "Hey, Kisumi." He immediately got some looks from upper classmen wondering who this kid was to talk to her so casually. One guy even went to move and block Varei. Kisumi glared daggers at the guy, who immediately moved back. "Sorry about them, Varei, they're a bit, well nevermind." "It's fine sis. So, how's being in the student council treating ya?" When the people nearby heard Varei call Kisumi 'sis' they all relaxed a bit, while also being a bit surprised. Kisumi herself wasn't bad looking, but Varei seemed to take the cake in the family on that end. Varei and Kisumi talked on the way to classes. Eventually they split up and headed in different direction, with Kisumi giving her little brother a small sketch to help him find his classroom. He sighed. He wasn't the little kit anymore that lost his way around their own town...

He still used the map anyway, as he wouldn't be surprised if his sister found out if he didn't. He found the classroom quite easily, and walked in, sitting down near the back, next to the window. It seemed like there wasn't many people here yet though, despite the lack of people out front. He checked his watch, and just happened to glance at a clock in the classroom. He was actually 30 minutes early, he had completely forgotten to fix his watch after he had rewound it, meaning it was not quite an entire hour ahead right now, and it's what he had based the alarm clock he bought off of too a couple days ago. He groaned and just waited, staring out the window. Wonder what his sister was doing waiting though? Whatever, she always claimed to have a 6th sense when it came to him and he wouldn't be surprised if it was true.

One moment she was looking up at the sign with the different assignments and the next her knees buckled and she was looking up at the sky. She heard a yelp but wasn’t sure if it came from her or whatever had barreled into her legs. She landed on her back with a hefty OOF and saw stars before watching, in slow motion, as the fishbowl with her lily followed her to the ground.

“Ah-!“ She reached out to catch it but it was just beyond the reach of her fingertips and she could only watch as glass collided with concrete and shattered. The water spilled and her lily settled on the ground, a few feet away.

With a flash of white hair and a scuff of her sneakers on the pavement Kleia scrambled over to the fallen flower just as somebody’s foot was about to come down on top of it.

“Stop!” She yelped, and the foot froze long enough for her to scoop it up, holding it close to her chest. Her relief only lasted a few moments before she realized that she no longer had a container for her aquatic flower. “Water water water…“ She buzzed, standing up and looking around. That’s when she noticed the other girl on the ground.

“Are… you ok?” She bit her lip. She could hear the flower in her hands crying though and couldn’t wait for an answer. Kleia mumbled an apology and then ran off in search of something to put her lily in.

Somewhere around 10 minutes later she found her classroom and plopped down in an empty seat with a sigh. Her lily floated in a little cup and was not at all happy, but it was alright at least. I hope this isn’t a bad sign for the rest of the school year... She propped her chin in her palm and glanced around the classroom that was mostly empty at the moment.

"Yes, I'm well aware of your draconic heritage." Hulong nodded as though such as a thing was obvious, pale green locks fluttering along with the graceful motion.

"Telith, is it?" He tucked a strand behind his ear. "I am An Hulong, a dragon hailing from the east. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance."

Following his brother's advice, Hulong tried to pull his lips into a smile. Smiling, as he was told, was an expression denoting happiness, and he had even managed to do so a number of times during his time with the older phoenix. Unfortunately, as he attempted it now, it ended up as more of a grimace than anything else. The corners of his mouth were pulled up and his expression softened to a degree and yet, somehow, it managed to convey disgust. Socializing, it seemed, was going to be a far more difficult task than he first thought. He can't help but wonder how his brother deals with these interactions.

Mikael Hope Morningstar

Awake. He wondered why he was awake so early in the morning even when he took off the battery of his alarm clock, his windows were blocked from any source of light. The book he was reading the night before was still in his hands that rested on his chest. He fell asleep without knowing. Mikael blinked inside the darkness of his room, laying there for minutes, maybe an hour already. He couldn't tell. He just wondered why his brain, his body decided to be awake on the first day of school, no less. He knew it was already going to be h-

"MIKA GET YOUR LAZY ASS UP!" Screamed his aunt as she kicked the door open, eyes ablaze and horns growing. Her fangs were bared and the heat was already radiating off her. "What the hell do you want so early in the morning?" The young Angel complained, a natural occurrence in the Morningstar household. Ira shouts then her niece either complains or shouts back. "IT'S THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL NOW GET UP AND GET DRESSED!!" For a five-foot-six woman, albeit yes she is a demon, she barely produced a sweat in dragging him out of bed, forcing him to get ready for school when he didn't even want to in the first place.

The car ride was plain and simple, quite as both of them were sizzling out their annoyance at each other. "You do better do well in school, you hear me?" The response the woman got was a shrug as her nephew continued to look at the car window. "Look, I... I don't understand what you're going through because I swear you took more after your mother when you were a child and not you..." She gave up, it was clear enough that he wasn't listening. She stopped the car just in front of the school gates, before letting out an exasperated sigh. "Go, and please, Mikael. Do well in school."

He gave a nod, opening the car and into the school grounds. Scanning the place, there were already a lot of people mixing together in the cesspool of a school. He glanced wherever he felt like it, walking quietly until he spotted a small fry with blue hair that he recognizes no matter what.

"Hey." He called, roughing up the smaller one's hair. "What is everyone doing all gathered up like a can of Sardines?" He caught the sight of a gown before it was swallowed up by the crowd. An odd thing to see on the first day for sure. "Grania's not with you?"

“WOULD YOU LIKE TO GET ACQUAINTED WITH MY FIST!?”

It wasn’t that Rielle was looking for a fight that particular afternoon while she and Mikael were heading back from the local smoothie joint. In fact, she was looking forward to getting home and cracking open that new book Grania got the other day which sounded very interesting. It was such a nice day too, everything was going so well.

Until they delved into the back alley they always traveled on to get home faster. It was usually empty at most items of the day aside from the occasional other traveler or a homeless guy who’s trying to get by. Generally, a place that was peaceful.

However, this time around, there were five men leaning on both sides of the walls, talking to each other and smoking their respective choice of weapon. Due to how narrow the alley was, there was no way they could just simply slip by quickly. Though, Rielle didn’t particularly mind. She’s dealt with these types before and she’d deal with them again if need be.

She could hear them snickering as they tried to pass and Rielle made the mistake of bumping into one of the members accidentally, beanie boy. It wasn’t strong enough for him to drop to drop his joint and yet down it went to the ground.

The reaction was instantaneous as the four others began to block the exit of the alleyway. Great. Beanie boy looked offended as he blew smoke right in her face. “Oi. You made me drop my cig. Pick it up.”

Rielle stood back, urging Mikael to move back as well. And he did, albeit knowing how things will end later and just continued on drinking his strawberry smoothie. “No.” She replied plainly, crossing her arms and looking generally unamused.

“No?” Beanie boy began to laugh and he pushed himself off the wall he was leaning on and cracked his knuckles. “Well then apologize.”

“For what? You being weak enough to drop the cig by being bumped to? Yeah, I don’t think so.” Rielle bit back. “Now move aside, we’re trying to walk here.”

“Look boys! The kid’s trying to intimidate us!” Beanie boy exclaimed, turning his head to the side to laugh with the rest of his posse. “As if a small twerp like you can do anything to us. Oh! I know! You’re gonna let your boyfriend over there fight for you huh? All bark and no bite.” He began to rant in a condescending tone, getting dangerously close to her face.

Boyfriend? Not something he hears often about them. "Her? Girlfriend?" Mikael let out a laugh, almost dry. It was a nice day after all but he's annoyed now that they'd ruined it. "If anything, you guys should be scared of this small twerp." He gave them a condescending grin which for sure irritated them more.

“Move, or we fight.”

“I don’t want to move.”

Rielle shrugged. “Your move then.” She said graciously with a wave of her hand.

“Cocky little shit.” Beanie boy spat as he pulled his hand back to go in for a punch when something collided with his stomach.

“You move a little too slow.” Rielle commented with a snicker. Beanie boy staggered back, clutching his stomach as he kept coughing. He was reeling back from the hit, obviously having not expected how powerful her punch could be.

“And- up!” She cheered as she grabbed him by the collar with her left hand and lifted him from his stomach - causing him to yelp and his comrades to scramble towards the duo - and then threw him towards the bearded guy who attempted to catch him and merely got knocked back as well.

“What the fuck kind of-!”

Rielle grinned as she cracked her fingers as she looked upon the three standing men who were hesitant to come closer. “Well, well, boys! Let’s get ready to rumble!”

And as such, the events had led to a full-on brawl between Rielle and five, surprisingly formidable guys who kept coming back up whenever Rielle aimed to knock them out. They were very annoying and practically a pest to deal with but they were at least slowly but surely growing weaker.

The young man watched everything unfold from the side, continuing with his drink that is almost close to finishing. He decided at that moment that he liked the flavor of the strawberry smoothie, it was a nice blend of sweet and sour. He'll get another one sometime soon, he thought as he saw Rielle doing a suplex on one of the thugs. It's an entertaining sight as always, his friend always had a way of finding trouble and vice versa.

"Aren't you guys tired yet? You're all getting pummeled by a five-foot-five fifteen-year-old. Have some dignity and go back to your cave." He yawned loudly after saying his two cents on the current situation. It struck a chord with one of the guys, a lot of pride this one has. This guy, with his leather gloves and shades had a nasty set of teeth, had the great idea of ramming Mikael with his full speed.

The young man found it idiotic for the quindiots to keep on fighting when it was clear as day that they aren't gonna win with fighting his demon spawned friend. Needless to say, he merely stepped said and used his feet to trip the guy with his face straight to the ground. There was a crunching sound, must be the thug's nose breaking. They were making quite the commotion alright.

Rielle had slammed one of their heads into each other which had knocked them out - finally - and then turned her attention to the other three. Beanie boy had rushed towards her and Rielle grabbed him by the arm and lifted him once more, much to the horror of Beanie boy, and was slammed onto the ground below them.

She raised her arms and slammed her fist into another’s face before following up with a hit to his gut and topped it off with bracing both of her hands together and slamming it onto the poor man’s back. Rielle wasn’t sure if the crack she heard was because something broke or it was him slamming onto the ground and breaking something in the front.

“STOOOOOOOOOOOOP!”

A high pitched cry resonated from behind the rumble. When the men turned to look at the intruder, all they found was the short form of a girl. The afternoon rays bathed her light hair with an orange tint as she stood firmly on her position, holding a ribboned box. With a straight posture, she adjusted the round glasses on her face before speaking again.

“Does any of you have any shame? Stop fighting like children right this instance!”

The fighting stopped for a second, maybe three, just to look at the newcomer who had the oddest audacity to stop five thugs and two teenage delinquents in their fighting. But she gets completely ignored because why would they stop for some random girl who has no means of actually stopping what it is that was happening in front of her. The fighting continued but Mikael still looked at the blonde and very uptight girl. He blinked a few times, wondering why would someone like her waste her time doing something like this? He can’t figure it out.

“You should just go on your merry way and leave us be.” He said flatly, undisturbed by the punching and slamming happening behind him as if it was a daily occurrence in his life. Finally finishing off his milkshake and placing down on the side, since the trashcan was at the other end of the alley and his hand was getting tired from holding it.

A shrill scream had startled Rielle and her opponent and it was only a second later that her opponent decided to go for a sucker punch. Running only at mere instinct, she grabbed the man by the arm and lifted him up. Her next instinct was to throw the body she was holding - and that was what she did. Towards the screamer. It was only a moment after she had released the body that she realized that this was definitely not the right action to do.

“Shit fuck wait!” She yelled out. “Move!” Mikael was about to say something more to make her go away but for some reason a body flew past beside him and into nerd girl.

It seemed as though everything happened in slow-motion. The body collided with the said nerd girl, eliciting a sharp cry and sending both her and her box flying to the ground.

“My cake!” She dramatically reached out to the box that landed face-down a few steps away from their toppled forms.

The girl shoved the unconscious thug off of her before dashing to the ruined item. “No, no, no, no… This can't be happening…” She repeatedly chanted as she crouched down and investigated the box’s content. Her eyes glistened with tears when she discovered the cake’s crushed state. She pursed her lips, trying hard not to sob while her mind recalled the events that led to her current predicament.

Venus Darkcaster spent the summer break working in a local coffee shop to save some money for her new school. Even though the tuition fee was free, she still needed to worry about her food and books. Still, she made sure to separate a good sum for her sister’s birthday. Vanessa told her once about this high-end bakery that sold delicious pastries; and so, she told made a promise that she’ll buy her a cake come her birthday.

But now… said cake was on the ground.

She picked the box up with small sniffles, holding it close to her chest.

Rielle helplessly looked towards Mikael. It had always been a problem with her to suddenly fall an instinct once a battle went on for too long or if something unexpected happened. There would always be consequences and she was well aware of that.

However, she was not prepared for the girl who was now on the ground - close to sobbing as she clutched the box she had been carrying. Rielle knew that the heavy feeling in her chest was definitely guilt. Obviously the content of that box was important and from the looks of it, it was completely ruined.

"Fuck…" she muttered to herself as she tried to inch closer to the girl. "I- uh…" Rielle once more looked to her friend to maybe, perhaps hopefully, let him lead the conversation first.

The only thing Mikael could hear was the crying. His chest felt heavy and the feeling was unfamiliar to him. What is this feeling? Is all that he could think about at the moment and the fact that the ruined cake was painful to look at. He noticed how Rielle stared at him and all he did was stare back. He tried to think of something that would stop the sobbing, anything. He took a gulp, as if he was going to do the one thing he feared the most.

"Hey." He said with an annoyed tone but he didn't mean it. It's how he always called anyone out. He took a step, but the moment his feet landed on the ground there was only a crunching noise of the now badly broken glasses that the cake girl wore. The day just went from bad to worse in an instant. "I can pay for all of those. How much did it cost you?" He said taking out his wallet which held a bundle of cash, waiting for a response.

Rielle was standing there, in complete awe and shock, that Mikael had gone on to step on the poor girl’s glasses - so she was wearing glasses, Rielle didn’t notice until now - and then offered to pay for all of it. And maybe there’s something inside her that figured that it wouldn’t exactly fly, considering how emotional the girl was looking right then and there.

Venus did her best to stop herself from crying when the two crept closer. However, the sight of her beloved glasses shattered on the ground and the boy’s audacity was the last straw. The two probably did it intentionally to spite her for intruding, judging by the man’s arrogance.

The female’s knuckles turned white as she tightened her hold to the box, her chest swelling with anger. She began to shake visibly, dark blotches appearing on her fair skin before eventually swallowing her whole. Her petite from twisted and expanded in ways that most people would find disturbing. Moments later and the harmless-looking girl was replaced by a dark being that towered over them by at least five heads. Dozens of eyes opened from all over her skin, all of them glaring at the two teenagers. On their background, the four thugs scrambled to pick up their other unconscious member before running away in fear.

“Just...who do you think you are!?” Venus began, her voice completely different from the high-pitched one they heard a few minutes ago, and was now instead deeper and monstrous. “You guys think you can do whatever you want just because you’re rich. Well here’s a lesson- money can’t buy you everything! Where are your manners? Fighting like little children… you guys have NO shame!”

No one would have expected that she would transform into something so otherworldly. What she was right now, he didn’t know the word for it. But just looking at her, it was frightening, just for that moment. But it was enough to leave kids having nightmares for days or maybe months. Instead of whatever it is he should be doing or saying, Mikael popped a vessel. "I'M GIVING YOU MONEY SO YOUR GLASSES IS FIXED AND YOU CAN BUY ANOTHER CAKE." He shouted back, a reflex of someone shouting at him the way she just did. “FUCKING TRYING TO HELP YOU HERE!”

Rielle was about to speak when the girl had suddenly turned into some sort of dark being and she had to crane her head upwards just to look at her… face. Or, well, at least where she assumed the correct place of the face was. She wasn’t feeling fear but rather complete wonder as the girl turned into a monster. It was nothing like when she turns into a demon - that shit was looking mundane to what this girl just went through.

And then she went on a spiel about what Mikael was doing and about their… lack of manners for fighting. Rielle was, again, going to defend herself for a moment when Mikael suddenly went off. She blinked in surprise as she looked towards the normally laid back friend of hers as he continued to shout. This… was not going to end well.

Meanwhile, the monstrous girl held back a sob while she got shouted at. When the boy was done with his outburst, she drew something from her pocket and fished out a white handkerchief. As funny as it looked, the Eldritch wiped the tears on her main set of eyes in perhaps the primmest manner a being like her could.

“You are just plain terrible!” Venus exclaimed, convinced that he was absolutely insincere. “Keep your money, I don’t need it. Especially from someone as arrogant and rude and mean and terrible and despicable as you!” She pointed her handkerchief at him before turning to the other female. “And you’re no better!”

While Venus was taught not to point fingers, and she did oblige to this code most of the time, she couldn’t stop her emotions from getting the best of her. It was really heartbreaking to imagine the inevitable look of disappointment on her sister’s face upon her return.

With a frustrated huff, she sprouted a tentacle and picked her broken glasses up before marching off, leaving the two delinquents behind.

Mikael’s eyes twitched at every negative word directed at him. He decided then and there that he did not like this girl in front of him whatsoever. His lips formed a thin line, he was getting more annoyed than ever. “Fine! Then don’t.” He shouted as Venus went away after picking her glasses. “Tch. I hope I never see her face again.” He murmured angrily, kicking the asphalt in irritation. Turning back, he saw that the thugs had already left through all the commotion which left him and Rielle in the alleyway. “Let’s just go, I wanna go back to bed.”

Rielle watched the back and forth and she felt her stomach drop at the sight of tears - or at least a hint of it. From the taller being. It was certainly an odd sight. But there was something that came first as the girl rejected the money and then immediately stomped off.

“Mikael.” She said, looking at him with furrowed brows. She opened her mouth, closed it, shook her head and raised a hand to rub her temples. “Look, I get you. She was kind of over the top but did you really have to shout at her?” Rielle couldn’t exactly judge anyone because of their temper considering who she was but she at least wanted to get a point through her friend. “We kind of ruined her cake and her glasses. We’re not exactly in the position to shout back at her.”

He just stood there and stared. He felt weird enough by what happened with the girl of many eyes and now Rielle was correcting him. He doesn't know what to feel at the moment, to be honest. He couldn’t say anything back and it was just awkward, at least it is for him. Mikael started rubbing the heels of his shoes at the ground, wondering what the right thing to say right now.

She could see how uncomfortable Mikael was with this entire thing. “Okay alright, you don’t need to answer that.” She corrected herself, waving her hand dismissively. “Just… we might never see her again, but knowing this city, I’m not going to be surprised if we bump into her.” Rielle patted him on the shoulder. “At least apologize, alright? Remember, we’re not bullies. If we hurt someone who doesn’t deserve it, we say sorry.” She scrunched up her face. “Even if it’s not easy.”

“Well! That’s over and done with so…” Rielle gestured forward in a grand display - as if welcoming royalty. “After you, m’lord.”

Heaving a sigh, Mikael nodded. It was quite odd to see and hear Rielle being all responsible that way. He took note of what she said, him applying it is another thing entirely. Felt like he was talking to his mother, so he reminded himself not to do shit that would make his Best friend talk like his mom ever again. It is so weird. “Right.” Immediately after, he walked down the alley with his half-demon friend behind. Now for him to get back to bed and just wipe this whole drama away from his system.

Strawberry Pancakes

Just a few more weeks until school starts and Mikael is already dreading the day it arrives. He hadn't had breakfast and it just so happened that Ira was away doing an errand from his father. Leaving him, alone, once again. There was nothing good to cook, or rather he just didn’t want to cook. “I’ll just starve myself to death.” He said blankly, then whistling to himself a tune he randomly thought of. Would be nice to hear with the piano. Quickly he poured himself a glass of strawberry flavored milk and sat on the piano seat. Setting his mug on the table nearest.

He hummed once again, trying to put his just-made tune into chords. He loved figuring out songs by ear, the light sound of the keys he pressed with his right hand with the lower harmonies of the keys on his left played a wonder to his ears. Music filled the house, something Mikael adored to-

Knock, knock.

He ignored it, it’s not like he made any plans for Rielle and company to come over, his aunt has her own key and his mother, well it isn’t really the day she said she’d visit. He continued playing, letting his fingers move and create the song by itself. He-

Knock, knock.

Once again, interrupted, this whole thing was getting on his nerves. Stomping to the entrance, his expression annoyed, opening the ebony-colored wooden door. “Wha-!?” As if the moment can’t be any worse for him. It was the multi-eyed girl from the ally that one time whose jaw dropped at the sight of him. He was shocked, speechless to say anything, especially when she was wearing her now-taped-but-still-broken glasses. Her. Rielle said something that time, he can’t fully remember. Internally he was cursing at whoever holds the threads of fate. Those three sisters from mythology. “...t. What are you doing here?” He asked, his brow furrowed.

Venus couldn’t believe her luck. Out of all people to tutor, it had to be the arrogant guy from before. A few days after their eventful encounter in the dark alley, Venus bumped into an older woman who offered her a job. Said job involved tutoring a boy about her age apparently named Mikael Hope Morningstar. It sounded easy enough and Venus has always been a sucker for studying, so she opted to accept it. Little did she know, Mikael would wind up to be the boy with a horrible attitude.

The girl closed her mouth then opened it again before repeating the same process. It seemed as though she couldn’t find the words to say. She considered backing out, to just phone the woman and tell her that the job she offered would require a staggering amount of patience and perhaps a miracle or two. But then she remembered that the woman was willing to pay a huge amount of cash for this, and the thought of using said cash to help her sister’s medication was motivating enough. For Vanessa, she was willing to brave anything- even this hazardous mission.

The female took a deep breath and composed herself. She gave him a formal bow before introducing herself, choosing to act like they haven’t met before. “I am Venus Darkcaster, your new personal tutor. I was hired by Ms. Ira a few days back, she gave me this address and told me to come here today at eight in the morning to meet my tutee… whom I assumed to be you.”

Trying to find the words to say, but there was nothing coming to mind. He’s been trying to remember about what he should do if they meet again but he’s pulling up a blank. Opening his mouth to introduced himself only to be halted by her introducing herself. And then he remembered how Ira had left him a note, he didn’t really read it but he did saw the word tutor in it before throwing it into the trash can. He wanted to ask why she acts like she doesn’t know him, but was it the right thing to ask in this situation? He shook his head slightly, confirming that he is indeed Mikael Hope Morningstar.

“Uhm,” He opened the door wider, gesturing for her to come inside. He really didn’t expect to see her again, much less as his tutor. By what alignment of the stars did that happened? No matter, it’s not like she’ll last in teaching him when he isn’t even interested in any of the classes they’ll be studying inside the school.

“Have you eaten?” Was the first coherent thing he said after their second meeting.

Venus would be lying if she claimed that his sudden hospitable attitude didn’t surprise her. She was expecting him to yell at her again, tell her to get out of his property or something mean. Another awkward silence passed through before Venus decided to step inside, muttering a quiet thanks. His next question was more bewildering. Could it be that they only got off the wrong foot and he was actually a nice person?

“I did…?” Venus reluctantly answered before following him inside. She has always been an early bird that was why she always had time to cook breakfast and eat with her family. To alleviate the bothersome silence, she opted to ask him back. “What about you?”

How to deal with this situation he didn't know. A month earlier they yelled at each other and now it's just silence and it's like torture. She responded to his question to which he gave a simple nod, when he was asked the same, well, his stomach answered for him. Embarrassing, that was embarrassing. He looked away and placed his hands on his pocket, "Nevermind that."

The girl was definitely surprised when she heard his stomach growling for food. Even though they were already neck-deep in awkwardness, it still felt as though they were plunged in deeper. Venus decided to look around her surroundings to find the kitchen despite being told otherwise.

He walked back into the piano seat, now that there won't be anymore knocking he could play in peace. As he was about to press a key, "Knowing that it's me that your gonna be teaching, why stay? I'm sure you hate my guts, why not just tell my aunt things went well and you can go home." He remembered all the things she said about him clear as day, but it didn't bother him as much anymore. He thought this was him being nice to her by saving her from the reminder of what happened the last time they interacted and he just wanted to be alone.

Venus paused when Mikael finally addressed the elephant in the room. She shifted her gaze back to him, brows furrowed. “Hate is such a strong word.” She began, adjusting the glasses the man in front of her broke. “While it’s true that you were definitely being a jerk back then- very much so, might I add- I don’t really hate you...or your guts. Speaking of your guts, I think it needs food. I will cook for you.”

"No, uh, wai-..."

The fire of determination lit in her eyes, and it would be futile to convince her otherwise at this point. Her tutee was hungry and she was having none of it. With that thought in mind, Venus walked off to the kitchen. Although she would normally not do such a thing unceremoniously, Mikael’s aunt told her to take care of her nephew. She didn’t want to disappoint her and her good-natured heart was telling her to feed the boy.

Upon arriving, Venus picked the apron hanging by the kitchen’s wall rack and put it on. She dusted herself off and stretched her arms, acting like she was preparing for some sort of a marathon. “You don’t have to feel embarrassed. I’m your tutor now, we’ll be seeing each other a lot. Now go on and play your piano while I fix your breakfast.” She definitely didn’t apply to be his new mother but she was still acting like it.

There wasn't really much he could do about it. He was sure that she hated him when she stormed off and now she's making him breakfast? It was confusing as heck and as much as he didn't want Venus to cook for him, she had already made her way to the kitchen as he saw her form pass through the arc. He started playing the song he did earlier before she came back from the start, knowing that the music could be heard all throughout the first floor. Hopefully, his new tutor doesn't mind it

Meanwhile, the said tutor closed her eyes to listen to the beautiful melody before officially starting her new operation. Venus analyzed her surroundings once more, checking the fridge and pantry for the available items. There was an abundant amount of strawberries in their stock and she remembered asking her patron about the way to her nephew’s good book. Ira mentioned something about sweets so Venus immediately knew what she should cook for Mikael.

Strawberry pancakes!

Venus immediately moved to work and grabbed the necessary ingredients. She poured the flour into a clean bowl and proceeded to do the rest, each action precisely measured as if she has a cookbook adhered on her head. It wasn’t long before the pleasant aroma of freshly cooked pancakes wafted from the kitchen and the girl walked out holding a plate of the strawberry filled meal.

She carefully placed it on top of the dining table and set a fork, a butter knife, and a glass of water beside it. She clapped her hands once before announcing, “Breakfast is ready!” She put her hands on her waist, an expectant look on her face. “I did my best.”

Mikael had just finished playing the last note when Venus called. He was sure that his stomach growled louder than it did before since the smell has been so inviting. He popped his head first to get a look, and boy did he like what he saw.

Strawberry. Pancakes. It looked good, really good and he could not wait to start eating. Truth to be told, Mikael barely eats homemade food. While Ira cooks from time to time her culinary creations aren't exactly edible. "It looks great." He said, immediately grabbing a bite with the fork without even bothering to sit down. He loves it. He can't hide the fact that he loves it and savored every bite, the slight sourness of the strawberry mixed well with the sweetness and made the flavor pop.

Venus couldn’t help but watch him eat her work like an enthusiastic chef who offered her food to the renowned Gorgon Ramsay. It seemed like her face brightened with every bite he took. She felt glad that her tutee was enjoying her pancakes.

Once he was done, he felt satisfied. He gave out a thoughtful hum before looking at Venus straight in the face. "Tha… Thank you for this. It was delicious." He smiled at her, it was big and sincere like how a child smiles when they are happy. "I am," Suddenly he remembered what Rielle had said to him. "Sorry about before." He was pretty sure his words turned into a murmur. The word sorry was unfamiliar to his lips. He had to do better next time. Maybe he'll practice with his mirror.

Venus couldn’t hide her surprise anymore when he flashed her a happy beam. She stared at him with her mouth slightly open after he finished apologizing and remained that way for a few more seconds. It was a quiet one but the girl heard it nonetheless. She let out a small sigh while her left hand began to rub her right arm consciously, gaze drifting sidewards.

“I’m… sorry too.” She began, somewhat timidly at first before returning her eyes on him. “I didn’t really mean the things I said before. I just got… carried away by my emotions.” She let a short silence consume them before carrying on. “Anyways, I’m glad you enjoyed the food and you’re welcome. You shouldn’t let yourself be hungry at all. It is necessary for growing teenagers like us to take care of our bodies, you know? Although to be fair, it is important to take care of our body in general.”

He laughed softly, it was a nice change for sure to have a more relaxed exchange with someone in this household. Remembering the everyday routine of the Morningstar household, an exchange of screams. He quickly picked up the utensils he used for eating and dumped it gently to the dishwasher.

While he was busy cleaning up, Venus couldn’t help but feel the need to voice out a little something she noticed while she was cooking for Mikael. “It was beautiful by the way,” she realized he probably had no idea what she was referring to, “The piano, erm, you played it really good.” His ears picked up what she said, it was so odd to hear somebody praising him at playing the piano. He nodded while he was waiting for the dishwasher to finish, feeling a slight blush creep on his face. No way is he going to show his face red. He did deep breaths to calm himself down before giving a chill thank you back.

The day seemed so much brighter now that he has eaten. That is until Venus proposed to start the reason why she was here in the first place, tutor him. It was an instant change of mood and expression. He suddenly felt like going to be, whining like a child. Unfortunately for him she was very insistent about it.

Well spending most of their day together, Venus trying to get her tutee to focus and study, it did not end well for the both of them. Venus was still paid by Ira with the amount promised, but when she asked how it all went it was Mikael who shouted from the second floor. “Just let her leave, I’m sure she still has somewhere to be.” Before slamming the door to his room and locking himself inside.

Two weeks before the start of school, Venus with her new set of glasses, he was still miffed about the last time they talked to each other. She was asking him something about classes but he could hardly care at the moment and ignored her. Next thing he knows, the moment he went down, was that Venus had left and his aunt Ira had the most mischievous grin that he had seen his entire life.
The Class President Enters!

56608c5bd609c84cb04b5f8162170b89.jpg
It was the first day of school and Venus made sure to wake up earlier than her usual. In fact, the sun hasn't even risen yet and she was already kicking like a horse. She cooked breakfast for her family, woke her parents up, prepared for school and left after giving her dear sister a warm hug. Enthusiasm and eagerness filled her as she made her way to her new school- Aguefort Adventuring Academy.

Venus remembered how elated she was when her parents announced that their family would be moving in to Elmville. She had read about the academy in her previous town before and she knew about its outstanding prestige. But perhaps what interested her the most was the fact that there was no tuition fee whatsoever and the only thing she would have to pay would be school lunches and a few other materials. As someone from a family with financial crisis, being able to attend a good school for free was more than a blessing and she was thankful for it.

The school was a good fifteen-minute walk from the Darkcaster's humble abode. Venus arrived exactly when she wanted. There were only a handful of people inside the campus and most of them were school personnels who were busy making sure the school was ready for the students. Without any delay, the light-haired female went off to the bulletin boards to check the party list. The students were told that they would be grouped into parties for their entire stay in the school during the summer orientation. Obviously, Venus adhered the information to her head.

Eventually, she found the fated list and immediately scanned it for her party.

Party 1: Jason Bladesong, Grania Montgomery, Venus Darkcaster, Rielle Payton Montgomery, Kleia Kellis

Lo, a dramatic gasp dragged out of Venus' lips as she repeatedly read her party members' name over and over again. Her knees turned weak, she felt like she could fall to the ground at any moment. She then returned her attention to the list, scanning for somebody else's name this time.

Party 3: Sarah Merdez, Steve Freeling, Mikael Hope Morningstar, Telith An Hulong

A comical and dragged out groan of defeat escaped her when she found her tutee's name in another party. She buried her face in her hands, contemplating if she should appeal to the higher ups about the matter.

While it was true that she and Mikael weren't on good terms at the moment, she was still his tutor and it was her duty to make sure he takes his academics seriously. But how could she do that if they weren't in the same party? Well, maybe she was being overdramatic, but she felt like she can do her job much better if they were.

Then again, they do share the exact same schedule. Venus could still vividly remember when Ira told her to just copy her schedule on Mikael's and pass it to the academy so she could always monitor him. Venus sighed. She did exactly as she was told, even though the two of them were in separate parties, she could still watch over him because of their carbon copy schedule.

Venus immediately straightened herself before fist pumping. The fire of determination burned in her eyes as she internally filled herself with pep talks. This was the first day of school and she'd be a fool if she let something shallow ruin it. Besides, she was her new class' president. A sense of pride washed over her when she remembered the message she received a week back informing her of her campaign's victory. Apparently, everybody in her class voted for her! (It was because she was the only one who ran for the position) She wouldn't dare disappoint any of them!

Sooner or later, people slowly flooded the campus and the area Venus was in was getting filled with students who wanted to know their party. Venus took a quick snap of the list during her second-hand magical tablet before walking off to find her classroom. She found the said room without much hassle and proceeded to choose her seat. She was probably the first one to arrive and she wasted no time in choosing her seat. She chose the one right in front of the teacher's podium and reserved the seat right beside it. There was no way she was going to let her tutee sit far from her.

With all those things settled, Venus adjusted her newly bought round glasses before sitting comfortably and waiting for the arrival of her classmates.

Taking note Arlosk and all her actions he was pretty sure she definitely was the flirty type for sure. Yeah he would have a fair amount of people trying to do the same to him because of his charms but unlike others who can be very clumsy about it she had all the moves down perfect. He wasn't used to having tails rap around him but even he had to admit that he could get used to that real quick. When she insisted on not giving her last name he wondered if that was just her way of trying to draw him in or she had a personal reason. Whatever it was it was not something he had to worry about since everyone has their own secrets. With mentioning of going together to check out the list Jason looked over for someone to lend him a favor.

"Sure I could use some good company," he replied. "Just one second first, hey you over there go and park my bike for me," said to a passing student throwing his keys to them. Instead of a normal reaction that most people would have for someone ordering them to do something like that the student just nodded and went to take the motorcycle to the parking lot for Jason. Jason had a way with making people doing things that he wanted them to do that came in handy all the time (sadly his mother seemed to have some kind of immunity that she won't admit too). In any event with that handled he lead the way to the party listings and he was in luck. It seemed that in just a short amount of time the crowd seemed like it was thinning out so if he didn't draw too much attention than he already was he would be fine. Getting through the crowds he finally made it to the listings and it seemed to also show who was gonna be in what class in the morning as well.

It seemed that from what he was looking at that Arlosk was indeed in his first period just not in the same party as him. But what disappointed him more was that his friend Jace wasn't either. Somehow it was like someone knew that he and Jace would be too good together in the same party. On a brighter note they at least would see each other a lot it wasn't a huge loss. What was interesting though that if he wasn't assuming incorrectly his entire consisted of nothing but girls. This brought a smile to his face because it was like he was pretty much being told to do what he does best (while of course working hard to be a good member of the group). While he was distracted he didn't realize that his aura was doing its job a bit better than he expected as he was starting to get surrounded.

"Well, it seems we'll see each other more often but from the looks of the crowd I better get out of here before going anywhere is no longer an option," he said right before he dashed off. Maneuvering around everyone he found the classroom where he was supposed to and slowed up at the door to catch his breath and make sure he doesn't look crazy. Once he was sure that he looked fine he walked in and took a seat in the second row behind a girl wearing some large rimmed glasses.

Grania Montgomery
Owwwwww...

The pain on her rump was all Grania knew while she laid on the pavement of the school entrance, she was laid out flat by those watery footprints. How dangerous, the school should really have invested in wet floor signs. She had been staring up at the bright blue sky watching the clouds roll by as her peers made their way to class, as it turned out she could not take a hit. Her back slowly arched her up and put her in an upward position, still bewildered and dazed. She was sure she had heard a commotion another girl yelling and quietly squeaking out an apology like a little mouse. She KNEW she saw the figure of someone, presumably the person she accidentally slide-kicked, fling over her. A bit of water had sprinkled over her when it happened.

She slowly got up, a long drawn-out groan was elicited from the pain she felt as she stumbled forward. Each step hurt her sore thighs, they were definitely going to be bruised and even more sore by the next day's morning. Another groan escaped her lips as she continued to walk around the emptying front courtyard to the building. She stared at the group listings, glancing over them from the bottom to the top. Montgomery. Montgomery. Montgomery.

Group three. Nope.

Group two. Nope.

Group one. Ding!

Jason Bladesong
A soft smile curled up on her lips as she found her name right next to Jason Bladesong. More specifically, she was smiling because she recognized the Bladesong portion of his name as matching Elmville's mayors. Any mayor's son would be a dependable person.

Venus Darkcaster
Another name she happened to recognize, it was the same name listed as their class president in the student directory. She had done extensive research on a few of her classmates the night before. A class president had to be an intelligent overachiever, a perfect party member.

Rielle Payton Montgomery
Unfortunately, a name she recognized all too well... her sister was in her group. Of course. Yet another groan rose from her as she craned her neck up to the ceiling completely annoyed at this outcome. She was going to have to make up for Rielle's work all the time now. It was annoying enough when she had to sneakily do her homework in years prior, but now fill up the role of an entire teammate. Ugh.

Kleia Kells
The final name was different from the rest, completely unrecognizable. An average student then, not the class president or child of a political leader or slacker sister. Well, that wasn't that bad someone she could relate to far better. Maybe that was an upside to Rielle being in her group as well.

With a brisk pace in her step Grania let her smile down and marched onward to her homeroom classroom with a righteous determination. She was going to make plenty of friends and be a loud outgoing girl!

When she arrived at the class door she slowly pushed it open as quietly as she could and shut it in the same manner, making sure not to draw any attention at all. Too scary. She took a brief scan across the classroom and let her eyes fall onto a white-haired girl who was soaking wet.

The Tripper.

Play it cool. Grania casually walked down the aisles of desks until she reached the one right behind her soaking wet... 'friend' she spun around, far too dramatically, and took her seat behind The Tripper with a satisfied sigh. Although, she would have to actually initiate a conversation, not silently announce where she was going to sit. Holding her hand up she curled her fingers into a fist and then pointing her index finger out like a sword. She lightly poked Kleia right in the center of her back, but to Grania it was as if she had stabbed her with the blade of friendship.

"H-Hello. Sorry." She meekly greeted, trying her best to speak up but her voice came out as a barely audible whisper.

Brushing through the halls and knocking her peers over proved to be an effective mode of transportation, apparently no one actually decided to do anything about you shoving them in the halls at Aguefort. Wonderful, at her old school every so often you would bump into another stuck up rich kid and have to restrain them with thorny vines lest be dethroned. It was a social hierarchy that worked mostly off of power, not something she enjoyed but it was manageable. She let her poofy pink dress flutter around the hallway, the hem bounced up and down at each step while her hips swayed in a manner that the dress did not actually flatter. Maybe the bad-girl look would have been better, a nice pair of tight leather pants to show off her curves.

The whole time she walked she hummed the low tune of a child's lullaby she was also sung to as a tot, it was a simple beat that started low and rose to high humming, humming that was far more similar to the buzzing of a bee. It was the melody of the bee.

The party system was made known to her the previous night at the dinner table by her father, she thought it was foolish why put her in a party when none could match up to her. Well, a queen needed her subjects but a bunch of schoolchildren were not subjects. She hurried her way to class, even if it was pointless since she already knew everything, because she had heard that Jason was in her homeroom! He was such a cute and intelligent young man, perfect for school-wide domination. She swung the door to the classroom open and let it slam against the wall beside it. She strutted in with her head held high like she owned the place. Technically, she would one day when she sat on her iron throne atop the world. But, for now she had her eyes on him.

Jason Bladesong, she marched across the classroom to the row he was sat in and sneered at some nerd sitting in front of him. She shimmied her way between the front of Jason's desk and the back of four-eye's desk, it was difficult with the poofy dress but she just let the back of it rest on the back of the four-eyes' head as she would attempt to shove said head forward to make room for her to sit on the top of the chair.

"Hello, my dear. Dashing as always. What do you think of my dress?"

Varei noticed people were slowly starting to file in, and he began watching the door, waiting for the two people he knew were going to be here. After a few people came in, including a girl who looked soaking wet, oddly enough, he saw Grania, who obviously was trying to avoid any and all attention. He sighed and waited for her to sit behind, and proceed to poke, the girl who he was sure was soaking wet now, in the back. He saw her lips move, but couldn't hear what she said. He smiled, and got up, moving over to the two. "Hey, Grania, it works better if the other person can hear you." He plops down in the seat next to her as he says this, waiting for her reaction. "How's Rielle doing by the way? Did you manage to get her up? Or did you just hope she gets up, like usual?" He smiles and his tails start moving on their own, obviously happy to meet a friendly face.

Kleia sighed and tapped her fingers on the desk as she waited for fellow classmates to join her. She had mostly recovered from the panic of nearly losing her lily beneath somebody’s foot but now the reality of her environment was really setting in. The fact that her flower was upset didn’t make it any better. It seemed like an eternity before classmates began to file in and take their seats – first a girl with a very… peculiar aura and then a boy with a very different but similarly interesting effect.

“She looks awfully smart…” She thought to herself, letting her gaze drift across the room. She cocked her head softly to the side when she looked at the boy again. He didn’t have any sort of particular magical draw but there was something about him that was sort of… enchanting? It wasn’t a very familiar feeling to her. Kleia had half the mind even to go over and say hello before another girl, a very pretty girl in a rather extravagant gown, approached him.

“Oop-“ She was a bit flustered by even having the thought. “Most people probably already know each other anyway…” She wondered to herself. She had spent most of her life being homeschooled and staying away from other people, missing out on pretty much every chance to make friends with anything other than her plants and the creatures that visited her parent's garden. Kleia returned her chin to her palm and let her gaze sink down to her flower, which had finally begun to sing just a little bit as it seemed to settle into the plastic cup. “I’ll get you something nicer when we go home.” She softly stroked one of its petals and managed a little smile, closing her eyes to listen to the song and letting go of the outside world.

She didn’t even realize that she had been zoning out completely until she felt a little stab in the center of her back.

“Mm?!” Kleia squeaked and turned in her seat, a bit surprised by the contact and then even more surprised by the person who had touched her. “Ah- you’re… from this morning.” The naiad’s cheeks flared up pink and her chin dropped but her gaze stayed. Her embarrassment was amplified by the fact that this girl already seemed to have a friend in the class. She brushed back a few locks of hair. “Thank you for the apology, but I think I ought to apologize as well since I just sort of ran off…” Her gentle voice was completely drowned out by the enthusiastic boy beside them. What was he? A… kitsune, it looked like, but also something else.

Jason(Jay)

Jason and Sarah made it to class on time luckily. They were seated next to each other and were both looking around the room at the people in their class. Jason was eating the flowers of his favorite tasting shrub. He felt Sevestes breathing under his shirt. And he was very aware of Sarah staring at all the girls in class as if they were delicious candy that she couldn't have. He chuckled to himself, thinking about how his sister probably wasn't even registering that she was staring. He tossed another flower in his mouth as he waited for class to begin.

Sarah

So many girls. And they were all soooooo cute! Sarah was having a hard time not leaping up and biting them just for a taste of their delicious blood She was vaguely aware of her brother's chuckle and realized he was probably laughing about her. Then she realized she was staring and shifted her eyes to her desk. She waited for class to begin while being very embarrassed about staring so much.

"lovely then, let's get going then" Arlosk responded with a grin and a twirl she followed closely beside Jason, enjoying the attention the two of them where getting, she'd done exactly what she intended to do make a good impression and she definitely did. once they had reached the destination the party listing, by the looks of it she wasn't going to be in the same party as Jason. but worst of all she wasn't with Telith. only a slight frown on her face denoted that she had any problem with this, would he be ok? speaking of the small dragon where was he? "well seeing more of you, is just a bonus no?" she said her smirk returning to her face as she looked back at Jason "aaaanny waaay, see you later than Jason" she said waving the boy off she remained soaking in the attention from the crowd she was getting before remembering... that Telith was still missing.

"oh... you... ok... i didn't think it was.. that obvious.." telith replied awkwardly raising his head up a little so he could actually see the other dragon a little.. who introduced himself as hulong, but also something else... he tried to... do something? was it a smile? it didn't exactly look like one but like Hulong was trying.. was he having the same problem as Telith? it kinda looked like it. Telith looked Hulong dead in the eyes, form Hulong's perspective the only thing within the hood, was two orangy yellow glowing orbs in an inky black void, a small white semicircle of sharp teeth appeared out of the darkness for only a second before disappearing. "n-nice... to meet...you... H-hulong.... um.. i.. should.. probably.. go.. well, we.. sh- umm class yes.." Telith spluttered out awkwardly his head flicking back down to the ground quickly breaking eye contact proceeding to back away only to soon bump into something.

form an outside perspective, while Telith was talking a rip a portal appeared for only a moment Arlosk stepping through behind the dragon who bumped into her she smiled. hugging him from behind and resting her head on his shoulder." hey sweetie, didn't expect you to disappear on me" she whispered to Telith, who's eyes became a bright greeny colour. Arlosk then turned her attention to Hulong giving him a smile "oh? I see what happened.." she stated without any context, letting go of Telith "soo? you two where talking lovely, but we should really all be getting to class no?" her tone shifting from a somewhat flirtatious one to that of minor concern. "y-yeah... t-thats... i mean.. yeah.. thats what i was trying.. to say.." telith said quietly. this had just gotten embarrassing... why did arlosk have to show up NOW of all times.... now she was just going to make everything awkward for him..

Jace Cunningham

00dc7d862a2ed736538f736f168aab15.jpg
It was golden hour when Jace casually carved down the street on his skateboard. The nice morning breeze seemed to shift as his body smoothly leaned in sync with the road's curves, picking up speed along the way. The clouds above- blah blah. This guy had other things in mind! Today was his first day of high school, and he didn't know what to expect.

"You okay?" Jace suddenly skidded to a halt before kicking the board into his hand. " . . I-It's broken," An elderly man replied, while keeping his lost stare deep in his car's hood. Broken? Jace tilted his head at the challenge in front of him. It didn't take long for the teen to analyze the vehicle's inner mechanics, then run a few tests here and there. Within a few moments, he knew just what to do.

"What a time to be alive!" The elderly man yelled through his open window as Jace pushed the car at a moderate speed towards the closest auto shop. Even if he integrated his own supernatural speed, pushing massive loads wasn't exactly his strength. "Ha, I know right!" Jace huffed, while low key trying to catch his breath.

They eventually reached the auto shop where the elderly fellow returned the favor. "I haven't experienced something like that in years," The man's hands fumbled for an object in his pockets. "Tell you what," He pulled out a card and gave it to Jace, "Stop by my restaurant any time." Jace nodded and glanced at the card before sliding it into his own pocket, "Will do, Mr. Delvecchio."

Soon enough, the teen was back on his skateboard.

You may be wondering why this mode of transportation is even necessary for a young speedster like Jace. Well, it wasn't too long ago when he nearly ran into his own father's building. Sheesh. So, he was "prescribed" a skateboard. It would help him manage his speed during commutes and . . well that was mainly it. Little did they know, Jace actually spent more time using it for tricks than going on regular cruises.

Now that brings us back to today. Watch as he daringly launches himself up an inclined plane onto school property. It didn't seem like Jace had any intention of slowing down either. In fact, he was in his own element. The last of the students were filing into the building when he casually skidded to a stop in front of the party lists. His eyes paused at the paper in front of him, noting how he was in party 2 without his best friend. . . Oh well. Both Jace and Jason had plenty of opportunities to hang out beyond group projects anyway.

Jace walked toward his classroom like any other day. In fact, the confidence he sported made it seem like he'd already "been there and done that." He entered the room in a similar matter as well, only pausing to scan where his best bud was. Luckily, that light-haired charmer wasn't hard to find. Jace smiled and nodded at Jason from a distance. He was going to make his way toward the seat right next to him up until a poofy dress blocked the passages out.

Wha- Utter confusion altered the guy's face. Jace soon understood the whole scene though. He looked off to the side with a smile and rubbed the back of his neck in a futile attempt to hide his initial reaction. "Nice pillow," He coolly joked, placing a hand at the top right corner of the real victim's desk then leaning against it. It seemed like Jace was just casually waiting for the tutu dress to step aside. A smirk formed on his face before his gaze shifted down to the blonde girl. She was a seemingly innocent student almost excited for her first day of school. Too bad it started out with a stranger's rump behind her head. Well, perhaps he could do something about it.

"Wow," Jace stepped over the other girl's dress prior to taking his seat next to Jason, "It'd be a shame if he didn't see it all . . ya know, since it's behind his desk." . . what? He wasn't kidding. Logically, it made sense for her to step out of the small space and into the open. Jace stuck his hand out toward Jason for their usual quick handshake, "Hey, man."

Rielle stiffened at the contact, quickly pulling to the side with a glare and hands already balled into fists. "Don't sneak up on me like that." She reminded him before shaking her head. "Party list, I'm pretty sure. Wonder if we're in the same group." The halfbreed mused as she forced herself to relax. "Grania went on ahead earlier. You know how she is with time." With a quick tug on Mikael's arm, she led them straight to the middle to look over who were in what party.

"'Course they put me with my sister. Did this school look into our pasts or something?" Rielle was notorious for not exactly being the most exemplary student out there and Grania did a lot to remedy that. "Jason Bladesong... never heard of him. That last name rings a few bells though..." She's sure she's seen or heard of it before. It related to something about the town but whatever it was, Rielle knew she wasn't going to remember any time soon. Maybe once they get to introductions or something. The next name made her nudge Mikael. "Venus Darkcaster, ain't that the name of your tutor? That girl from the alley?" Great. Off to a great start with them! Good thing she already saved up to pay for that cake from before. The last name on the party was... annoyingly familiar. But just like Bladesong, she couldn't find anything for now.

"Ah damn, looks like we aren't in the same party after all Mikael. Xanros too." Rielle didn't mind being separated from the two. It wasn't like they wouldn't find a way to somehow get together within the day. Though, a small part of her was hoping that she would be grouped up with them so she'd at least feel more comfortable. As much as she loved her sister, they get on each other's nerves with their completely opposite way of doing things.

Once Mikael was done looking over his own party, Rielle urged him to get out of the crowd and head to the classroom. It wasn't all that hard to find and she entered, roaming her eyes for a moment before stopping at a... woman wearing a ball gown. At any other time... yeah, Rielle got nothing. She looked at Mikael, opened her mouth before closing it again. She contemplated on what to say for a moment. "I'm not dreaming right? That's a ball gown right?" She gestured over to the girl before shaking her head.

"Yep, not dealing with that right now." Rielle muttered under her breath before heading over to the other side to avoid the big dress and plopped at a seat at the back.

Hulong blinked once, then twice, a bit taken aback by the sudden appearance of a red-skinned demoness. Stepping through a rip in space, she almost immediately wrapped her arms around the hooded boy in a hug. The two knew each other, it seemed, she and his newest acquaintance; and were quite close as well. It was nice to see that the stuttering dragon would have someone to look out for him for the years to come, he thought with a hum, he looked like he definitely needed it.

"I suppose you're right." He glanced around, taking note that many of the students were already entering the building. "Let's be on our way then, shall we?"

With that being said, Hulong turned on his feet and walked off. Finding the classroom, surprisingly enough, wasn't that difficult of a challenge. Having to deal with the other students inside, however, was a different story entirely. They all seemed like good people—for the most part—and interacting with them didn't seem so bad. That didn't mean that it would be easy, though. For now, he sat down on the nearest empty seat and... slumped over his desk, falling asleep instantly.
