Fantasy Dragons in the West

The twin chakrams shoot out from your hand, but the dark figure behind the throne is a nimble little minx and is able to twist out of the way of the two glowing disks.

EDIT: Vinh Yi launches a fireball at the archer as he/she is leaping from the window, but you cannot say with certainty if you hit or not. But, you think that you managed to score a burn on the side of the archer, making him/her that much easier to track by the troops outside.

"Someone get that arrow out of her. It will hurt, but she's too tough to bleed to death and if it's poisoned we need to wash that wound out," he demands, eyes sweeping the crowd for more assailants or any sign of his equipment, essence sense searching for the telltale pressure of either upon the ground. "Palaya, Justice is on its way, meet the men outside. Try to minimize the property damage."

Nellens Zanaiya

Zanaiya's eyes went to her sister for a moment before flying to the flurry of robes that belonged to Brother Long behind the king's throne. She was torn for a moment, but only one. Her sister was safe--if hurt--for the moment, the king was not and she could not risk his death. There was time enough to take a breath before her running got her to the dais where Brother Long stood, and then past that.

Her sprint turned into a cartwheel aimed for the assassin, robes and ribbons streaming behind her. Zanaiya finished the cartwheel with a tumble into a roll and launched herself upward, using the momentum of her upwards movement to lash out at the assailant with the heels of her palms at the assailant's upper body, aiming for under the person's chin to try and push them back and over with the momentum.

Is Juriah going to do anything besides what's been posted? You can get an action in with your talking.

Zanaiya's acrobatic cartwheel is showy, but somewhat not very effective. You can see a glimmer of a holographic symbol above the head of the assassin as he dives to the side, marking him as being able to use Essence at the very least as a God-Blooded; an Exalt at most.

Prospero swore as the anathema fled. "Five dragons bite him." He hurled the ball of lightning after the stealthy one, threading the needle of the two hurled chakrams to get the nimble fucker while he was still not touching the ground during is leaped dodge. Then he opened an air tunnel for the bolt to return to him.

His anima is broiling, the electricity condensing into wings, claws, a panoply of scales, till it appears he is wearing armor forged in the likeness of a dragon from pure frozen lightning. His unfurls his wingblade, mounting up and making ready to chase the archer, to insure it doesn't slip away. Before he kicks the engines into gear and goes screaming out of the room, he offers a hand to Tai Phong. "Would you care to join me on my hunt of this anathema archer?" He asks, not a formal request to a foreign military, but the casual offer one drunken exalt to another after just having seen a Celestial anima banner run past the window of their bar, followed by a Wyld Hunt.

Two action flurry. First action, throwing the lightning ball at the assassin behind the king, spending a mote on loyal weapon and a willpower to be sure I don't botch and strike the king. Second, unfurling my windblade for 10 motes... my anima goes full iconic into the lightning-armor display. After that, I wait for the admiral's reply before blasting off at 70 yards a tick my fly speed after the archer.

The dark figure behind the throne lashes out with a short daiklave and is able to knock the lighting ball to the side, where it detonates against the wall. With the element of surprise gone, the second assassin turns and runs at high speed out the door that he came through originally. A security guard makes the mistake of getting in the way of the escape run, and is butchered by the heavy blade in the hand of the killer.

Tomiko immediately lashes out towards the fleeing killer with her Infinite Jade Chakram, but her attack is also knocked aside by the whirlwind blows of the assassin.

Tai looks at Prospero with an amused expression on her face, and she holds out her free hand. One of the military escorts come up with a jade daiklave and sets the handle of the blade into her hand, and the admiral gives Prospero a salute with the blade. "Let us go hunting, the most dangerous of prey." With that, she lets you guide her onto the Windblade behind you as you take off.

Lù Zhèng's face twisted into an expression of extreme distaste as he saw the second assassin fend off every attack with ease.

"I shall hunt you down, vile Anathema, and send your damned soul back into the lightless abyss that spawn you!", he roared as he sprinted off in pursuit, heading to the door the assassin had fled through.

When Long goes through the door that the assassin vanished through, you find that there are two bodies lying in the hall; they look like serving women that had been killed by the anathama. Trays of appetizers that have fallen from the dead women's hands would lend credence to that theory.

On Long's heels three guards come running out with you, along with Cathak Aang, his daiklave in hand. He looks at Long for a moment and gives a nod that speaks volumes; two hunters after dangerous prey. "Lets find our killer and and politely ask a few questions of him."

"Dragons willing, these Anathema fiends shall not see the rise of the sun.", Brother Lù Zhèng replied.

His ire burned from the fact that a Dynast under his care, and a young lady at that, was brought to harm by the actions of others. He would find them, drag them bodily from their shadowy hiding places and teach them what it is to oppose the righteous justice of the Terrestrial Exalted. With a confirming nod, he bounded shoulder to shoulder with Aang.

Mnemon Vinh Yi

"Room for one more in this hunt, boys?"
Vinh dashes in the direction the assassin went, meeting up with Brother Long and Cathak Aang as they set off. Though still wearing only her party dress, she holds a dagger in each hand, and her violet eyes are almost literally smouldering with eagerness. "No Anathema's going to attack an ally and run on my watch!"

She heads off with her fellow Chosen to track down their prey, keeping alert for any sign of ambush.

Along the Rooftops

Prospero and Tai burst out of the open window that the archer just vacated. Gaining some altitude, the two of you look about, trying to gain some clue as to the trail of the killer. Give me a Perception + Awareness roll, please.

In the Hallways

Aang, Vinh Yi, and Brother Long run down the hall after the second assassin. When you come to an intersection, Aang points at a telltale drop of blood. "There. Our prey came this way." Off once more at top speed, up ahead of you there is a brief flicker of light as a person slips out of a service door. Lowering his shoulder to act as a battering ram, the hotheaded Aang plows through the door without slowing at all, clearing the way for the others on the trail of the killer.

As Long and Vinh Yi make their way out into the alleyway, you don't see a person, but a horrible monster!

minion_of_Bael_by_Wen_M_zps437c7d83.jpg

With an angry hiss, the man-bat creature flexes its wings and makes a leap for the sky. You both have one chance to get a hit on the vile anathama before it flies out of range.

Lù Zhèng Yì Lòng

The Royal Palace

The warrior heart of Brother Lù Zhèng sang as he pounded alongside his brother and sister Exalts. Behind them lay those who needed to be protected, before them the monster that required destroying for the good of all Creation. The Immaculate channelled Essence through his anima once more, and his companion winds lifted him up, bouying his pursuit and allowing him to perform feats of graceful acrobatics to avoid the manifold obstructions that presented. He performed a forward flip through the air to avoid a knot of confused guards and panicking maids clustered in the corridor, then bounced wall to wall to bypass a clump of overturned furniture, no doubt the Anathema's attempt to evade pursuers. Each turn and twist through the palace's rear access ways brought them closer to their quarry, as evidenced by the disorder left in the beast's wake. Here and there, the signs of the violent retreat were evident. Splashes of blood on the floor, so the beast bleeds? Mayhap it is wounded grievously enough that it shall only evade us for a limited time, more broken furniture and distressed staff. Finally, they reached a service door and Aang rushed it, smashing it to flinders in a headlong rush. The Immaculate followed close on his heels, chakram at the ready. The fiendish monster was there! In the alleyway, it had shed all vestiges of human form and resembled a hideously deformed bat creature, fully the height of a man, but sharing only that quality with a man, it's vicious fanged maw split in a hissing snarl of hatred even as its noisome wings cracked open and beat at the air in an attempt to take flight and escape the true Justice of Creation's most dutiful guardians.

"Hold and face your fate, vilest of misbegotten monstrosities! Your evil shall be rent from this place and your soiled soul cast down to the depths of the Underworld whence you came!", Lù Zhèng roared, sweeping his weapon up and around.

Again two glowing blue rings of icy Essence were conjured forth by the power of the artefact's magic and where they passed through the air, they left a frosty rime, their passing through the air a mournful dirge to lull the restless soul of the Anathema to it's rightful slumber in the Underworld.

Prospero scanned the world below him, his eyes focused on every detail, every figure and shadow, every movement and stillness. This wasn't simply a matter of engaging an opponent for the honor of defeating it, or even proving his earlier boasts to the monk correct. This was about impressing the woman who was clinging to his back to maintain balance on his 'Blade. To the young terrestrial, it was her opinion that mattered, her judgement that the situation hanged upon. He would measure his success or failure in this battle by how swayed she was to his roaring awesomeness. By the dragons, he would succeed in impressing her, no matter how many Anathema corpses it took.

"Dragons-cursed shapeshifters," Vinh mutters. "Get back here and fight like a man... bat-thing... oh, just burn!" Dropping her knives, she flares her anima briefly, scorching the floor before she gathers that fire in her hands. Drawing them back, she lets out a crackling kiai as she thrusts both hands forwards, launching a massive fireball at the escaping anathema.

Prospero and Tai Phong both scan the rooftops, looking for any sign of the archer. A brief flicker of movement draws your eye, and you can see a slim figure armed with a bow leaping from rooftop to rooftop, heading for the center of town. Just as you spot the archer, Tai also points with her blade, showing that her senses are just as keen. "There! Go go go!"

Long's chakrams lance out towards the Anathama, but it is very nimble in its evil, and manages to twist its way out of the line of fire.

Vinh Yi, however, manages to score a solid hit against the flank of the Lunar as it leaps into the air. Its DV is 6, giving you 5 successes to your hit on it. Its soak is 18L/20B, and go ahead and roll your damage.

The Lunar lets out a inhuman screech of pain and anger as the burning ball slams into it, causing grievous wounds all along its side. It was about to launch itself into the air, but the sudden attack stuns it, causing the monster to fall to the ground. It would be a pitiful sight if it were not a Anathama. Aang doesn't hesitate; he lashes out with his jade sword and the blade bites deep into the wounded monster. It lets out a second, weaker scream before collapsing on the floor, lifeless. As you watch, the man-bat form slowly shifts back into a human to reveal a man of middle years. Aang lets out a startled cry. "Norros! I've known him for years! To think that all this time, he was one of the Moon Mad! How could I have missed that?"

Mnemon Vinh Yi

Vinh is slightly miffed at getting another assist, rather than a kill, when it was her attack that brought the creature down... but that quickly evaporates into sympathy at Aang's reaction.

"Oh, I'm so sorry, Lord Aang. Perhaps, he was taken by the Anathema's spirit only recently?"

Lù Zhèng Yì Lòng

The Royal Palace, exterior

Brother Lù Zhèng is sympathetic with the grieving Exalt.

"Do not be hard on yourself, Lord Aang. The Moon Mad have strange and fae powers. The man you knew may well have been an illusion, placed in your mind by this creature's deranged energies, or as our sister here says, the evil spirit possessed the man you knew and subsumed his soul. May he re-enter the cycle of reincarnation and have more karmic potential having his corrupted soul cleansed by the divine righteousness of the Dragon-blooded."

So saying, the monk quickly said a prayer for the departing soul and offered condemnation for the evils that had dragged a good man down.

Tepet Prospero

Magic Carpet Ride

Tepet Prospero looped through the air, showing off the mobility of his craft and his skill with it. He could muse on the best maneuvers for pressing her form into him while displaying his athletic prowess, but he had already settled on anathema-slaying as his method of seducing the admiral. He let the lightning ball return to him, flinging it at the foe scampering under them, more forcing him along a certain path then believing he would hit the anathema, as the admiral began to point him out. The dark-solar's magic was strong and he doubted any of the first few attacks would hit. But that mattered not as much as keeping the Anathema from leaving the engagement and forcing it to spend motes on it's defense.

Immediately afterwards, he kicks the engines to full burst, sweeping past him during one of his jumps on Tai Phong's sword wielding side, allowing the admiral an attack while the archer's mobility is hindered by not being in contact with a solid surface to limit his mobility and having just responded to his own attack. Perhaps it meant he'd have to share the kill with a woman he wished to share a bed with, but that was fine, he didn't need to be known as a singular combatant yet.

Spending 3 motes this initiative. 1 for Loyal Weapon, 2 for First Thrown Excellency.

Prospero's bolt slams into the roof next to the fleeing assassin, but you are able to get close enough for Tai Phong to leap off of the mini aircraft and she brandishes her sword. Suddenly, the other Dragon Blood leaps forward and strikes at the archer, but the nimble would-be killer spins around quickly and blocks her sword with the haft of the bow.

The assassin grabs at something on his waist and throws it at the rooftop right under his feet, and it turns out to be a small explosive that releases a loud flash of light and a billowing cloud of smoke. Tai Phong steps forward and swings again, but hits nothing this time.

Give me a Perception + Awareness roll, please.

Elsewhere, in the alley next to the body of the now dead Lunar, Aang kneels down to check the pockets of the vile beast to see if there is anything hiding of interest. He stands with a scrap of paper in his hand, somewhat bloodstained. He carefully unfolds it, and frowns as he reads it. "Under no circumstance are you to return without having killed the King or the Nellens woman. Do so and you --." He looks up with a flash of anger. "Who sends these killers out? Whomever wrote this, I swear you are as dead as this Anathama here; you just don't know it yet."

Mnemon Vinh Yi

"Who would be capable of such foul treachery, consorting with the Anathema to murder a king or a Dragon-Blood..."
Vinh shakes her head in sorrow. "I don't understand people like that... theres' only one wayt o deal with them. My sword is yours, Cathak Aang, and any other aid I can give." She raises her right fist to her left shoulder; the gesture is slightly less martial for being in a dress rather than armor, but it gets the point across.

Tepet Prospero

Roof top fight

Prospero made an effort not to break decorum by swearing. He needed to drill his accuracy more. He was so focused on sustained damage against stationary targets... had he let his skills rust or were they just not up to snuff to begin with? Almost good enough wasn't nearly what he needed in the short or long term. House Tepet wouldn't follow him if he was not the best, and he doubted Tai Phong would yet follow him to the bed room.

He glared at the black solar. Damn this one, this 'tricky one'. The one behind the throne must have been an easier foe, cause this yeddem dropping was a pain. The smoke grenade is cast downward and Prospero roars. No words or emotions, just a primal guttural disdain for a foe who doesn't have the common curtsey to stand and fight. His anima flares along with him, the wings of frozen lightning beating, creating swift chaotic eddies that rip the smoke cloud to whisps.

He aids Tai in attempting to keep a bead on the Anthema's position, but might find his best contribution the removal of the smoke.

Rolling to aid Tai Phong's Perception + Awareness, not sure if something else is needed to be rolled with this stunt.

Lù Zhèng Yì Lòng

The Royal Palace, exterior

"We should cremate these remains and swiftly.", the Immaculate said, grimly, "If not only for the issues regarding his connection with this assassination attempt, but also for the danger of his Hungry Ghost rising."

Lù Zhèng looked around, searching out any potential witnesses to the Anathema's revelation.

"And then we should seek out that archer and take them alive, if possible. We need to find out who is responsible for this plot. Corpses do not tell tales. At least, not tales we want to hear."

Prospero is able to spot the assassin step into the cloud of smoke, but when the air clears, he's gone. You are not sure if he's teleported, turned invisible, or something else entirely. Tai Phong looks mad enough to spit fire, and with an angry motion, she slams her sword into its sheath. "Damn! I must be getting old to let some Anathama escape from me that easily. At least, I suspect that it was one of the demon Solars, returned from their imprisonment in the bowels of hell." She looks around, and, spotting nothing, walks over to you on your hoverboard. "Lets return to the gala and see what damage has been done."

In the alleyway, several soldiers come running up with weapons drawn, all wearing the livery of the palace guards. At the sight of the body and several Dragon Blooded standing over it, they pause. The one in charge sheaths his weapon and offers up a bow. "M'lords, my men and I are here to secure the area. Do any of you require medical assistance? We are at your service."
