Vermillion was basically a town on the sea, with more water than land. It was known as a city to pass through - either for trainers, tourists, or people docking/leaving for Olivine or the Sevi islands. While Soriah wanted to visit both destinations, she found herself too lazy to commit to a big adventure especially alone - unlike many, she didn’t have rivals or traveling partners. Her travel buddies came and went by the week, and rivals made her grumpy.

Instead, she rented a bike and rode around the edges of the city, alongside the not too distant water glaring off her bike bells and tire rims in the sunshine. Beldum buzzed happily beside her, keeping the pace in a brisk hover. The wind tousled her white hair which was loosely flapping around her like the wings of an altaria - she didn’t dare lose her hat to the wind. “You know, it’s pretty here, but I don’t care for beaches,” she spoke out loud randomly, not to anyone really. “And Surge just looks like a grumpy wart.”

She brought her bike to a vault when the horns of distant nearing ships bored to life. Some were the cargo ships with traveling goods, but one was the actual Anne with people on board. The ship was far enough still that only the shimmer of its silhouette on the sea could be seen.

She parked the bike and leaned against it, just in front of the dock. “Well,” she pulled her hair into two pony tails that fell on either side of her shoulders, and flicked her thick bangs from the side of her face. “We haven’t done a cruise before. Want to?” Her metal buddy didn’t seem to care regardless, beldum instead perched himself on the dock hanging upside down a bit like a bat, claws hanging onto the wood while it rested.

“I guess I’ll just decide for us, again,” she plopped down on the wood and let her feet fall over the water. She had simply a white tee with a denim romper over it. She messed with the water for a while before she felt something nip at her toes - she expressed nothing but shock, and then squealed as a full barboach flipped out of the water and attempted to smack her in the face.

“No!” She covered her face from the assault, not wanting to be splashed or hit with a tail...

The port city of Vermilion, Skye had never seen anything quite like it. Sure, she'd visited Veilstone once, but even though it was near the sea, it was built atop a steep mountains; and sure, she'd visited Pastoria once, and even though it also faced the sea, it was built along what had been a marsh, and it lacked port. She knew Chocovine Town, near Snowpoint, had a port, but it was a town and she'd never visited it. Yes, Vermilion, with its breeze full of sea and all its production geared towards the port, was different than those, and something Skye had never seen before. And, right now, she was walking along that port, marvelling at the sight of the myriad of ships docking and leaving, the trucks bringing grain to be exported to other places, the people just lounging about, and the Pokemon playing around. The sun shone from the east, having risen just a while ago, and the city looked peaceful.

Since today was warm but breezy, Skye had decided to wear a white flower-patterned dress shirt [x], blue chino pants, and green and white sneakers. She'd also packed a pullover just in case. Her purple backpack, meanwhile, was full of stuff, a map, a book, her notebook, among other things. Her brown hair was styled messily, since it was short, it was barely noticeable.

"How do you like it so far, Ari?" Skye had received two tickets for the St. Anne as a gift and so decided to head directly to Vermilion to board it. She had no idea what to expect, but they had been free and she'd been itching to travel for a while, tired of the rut. A friend had said she'd come with her, but she flunked out last minute, so she was left with one spare, well, that's life. "Glam, Glameow!" Ari answered, in a huffing tone. "Oh? Come on! Relaxing's always fun! And I'm sure we'll get some unexpected battles for you along the way, so don't be like that," she pet Ari on the head and kept walking at a leisurely pace.

After a while, she found herself in a huge wood dock, presumably St. Anne's. People were walking to and fro, and Skye decided to walk to the edge of the dock to enjoy the view. As she was walking, though, she noticed a girl dressed in a denim romper that sported two ponytails that hung from her back towards her shoulders. She looked cute, so Skye couldn't help but stare for a bit. Well, that wasn't going to get her anywhere... and all her attempts at flirting at school had been either turned down or she'd been met with straight girls, so right now she was single. Not that she went out of her way to get a girlfriend, of course, but... maybe it'd be nice. As she thought that, she kept on walking. Suddenly, she heard a splash. She looked back, a Barboach had appeared and jumped at the girl! Before even Skye could utter anything, Ari—always eager for a fight—was on it. Ari managed to launch a Slash at the Barboach, who recoiled and wiggled out of the Glameow's claws lest he be caught. The Barboach hastily hid in the water, where Ari was hesitant to go. If necessary, she would. For now, though, Ari kept guard at the edge of the dock!

"Well done, Ari!" she shouted. Ari simply nodded but kept staring at the water, as if she was waiting for the Barboach to even dare come out. "Ah, hey, are you okay?" She tapped the girl on the shoulder and offered her a smile. There was a Beldum nearby, perched on the dock, but she paid it no mind for now.
