A very Long Time Ago the universe was young and the oldest and most developed species in the cosmos, The Gods, Were busy spreading life throughout the cosmos. As the universe grew in populous strife began to rise between the gods over the well being of their individual creations. In order to resolve their conflict they created a race of murderous apes for the sole purpose of waging war. They had created humanity. These murder apes had lifespans and reproduced quickly allowing them to adapt and develop generationally faster than other species in the cosmos. However the Gods greatest folley and humanities greatest edge was their violent nature. No other species was as creative and effective at violence and killing. Eventually these apes shocked the collective universe when they rose up against the gods and slew them. Fearing the humans potential for conquest the rest of the universe created a plague and loosed ut upon them nearly driving the species to exinction. However humanities adaptable nature caused the virus to become transferrable to other races even through the vacuum of space. As such they crafted a massive 110 billion lightyear sphere around the remaining humans and left them to die in quarentine...and the universe would forget about the murder apes.
With the history mapped out we can get to the actual meat and potatoes of the plot. You will be playing the crew of the Persephone. Under the Direction of Captain Hector Damascus, a wealthy Military officer from mars.
The persephone is a massive and powerful ship though not the biggest or most powerful. She is 14.7 kilometers long and crews upwards of 5 million people. With capacity to hold 8 half kilometer freighters and over 24,000 star fighters and another 18,000 Heavy star fighters, plus mechs and ground assault vehichles in the 10s of thousands. Attached to her bottom is an entire colony dome capable of expanding and forming a forward base on any world they orbit. However her most impressive pieces of technology are her Hotvoid Cannons, and Dark Void shields. The hot void cannons convert whatever energy they connect with into heat while simultainiously causing fission reactions in whatever it hits resulting in whatever is hit by the beam to virtually become an atomic bomb. While the Darkvoid shields allow the vessel to render itself invisible and semi intangible. This vessel is bound for planet Coromir where the crew is expected to reclaim and recolonize the lush jungle and marshland planet.

The Murder apes who called themselves humanity would wither and die within their quarentined sector of the universe. However a single man would be born immune to the virus and a few years later a woman was born with similar characteristics. They were sent to the third solid planet around a star in the milkey way galaxy, The planet called earth. While the rest of the once great warrior empire perished these humans would go to reproduce and over the course of several generations would spread making a great empire on earth itself. However the empire would destroy itself attempting to use nuclear power to go to space. From that point humanity would repeat the cycle of growth and self destruction for millions of years choking on their own shortsight and aggression. Eventually however enough genetic memory of destroyed civilizations would instil in them a fear of self destruction and a slightly less violent humanity would rise after a breif war with the original humans known to this new breed as the Neanderthals. This new breed of humanity would go to form civilizations and tribes that would grow to nations and countries all the way into the Era of Growth.
The Era of Growth began in the 1800's during the industrial revolution and for 200 uears humanity would enjoy a time of rapid growth. Even that time of growth was dwarfed by the following 200 years however as in 2038 a man named Allan Herdez changed the world with his discovery of Brightvoid vibrations, a strange wavelength that slips in and out of our physical universe making physics apply differently to it. Initially this was prohibitively expensive to make and thus only the wealthy enjoyed the benefits. Though they were laughably limited to instant internet signals and Power generation. Thirty years later a company called Obelisk R&D managed to find a cheap and effective way to produce Brightvoid vibrations and the world began to change. By 2078 the nations of the world had all reached developed stages and third world countries became a thing of the past. In 2086 the martian Spaceport was completed and the Red Race began as each nation sent spaceships to mars in an effort to gain access to the iron rich planets resources. By the year 2201 mars had a population of 500 million and was the main producer of Brightvoid technologies and Starships. Humanity expanded into the solar system but a time bomb of sorts was brewing.
The rapid growth in human population was being felt heavily on earth. With the vast majority of people being too poor to leave the planet the quality of life began to degrade. So earth instituted a program that put strict regulations on birth and resource consumption. Mars being the largest non-earth populous refused these regulations claiming that population growth and resource consumption were not problems on mars. Earth responded to this by putting massive tariffs on all Martian goods, to which The Martians responded by cutting off trade to earth altogether. Fearing the loss of a huge producer or resources earth sent a fleet of 1000 ships to mars in order to quell what they viewed as a rebellion. However not a single ship would make it as mars responded with a small fleet of their own. Only 63 ships left the martain surface but each was outfitted with three pieces of advanced technology mars had yet to share with earth. The Plasmatic Brightvoid Generator, The Void Cannon, and the Void shields. The Plasmatic Generators could produce 212 times the amount of energy as the earth ships generators. And the shields could easily withstand the nuclear missiles and lasers of the earth fleet, while the void cannons cut through the earth ships defenses like a hot knife through butter. From there the martian fleet captured and corralled the remaining earth fleet and grounded them on the earths moon base which they casually claimed after taking out the defenses. The ships positioned themselves around earth and gave them the ultimatum to surrender, which was met with a massive nuclear strike as tens of thousands of missiles were launched from earths surface. Though more than half of missiles were shot down even that proved unnecessary as the martian fleet was unharmed by the strike. They responded by crushing the earths military bases and government buildings under a barrage of Brightvoid lasers. With that mighty strike the Earth was fallen.
Mars did not seek to conquer the earth however. They instituted an election and put in place 72 representatives who would act as a council to a single president of earth. Afterwards the leadership of mars met with the new leadership of earth and with the leadership of the newly budding Jupiter colonies and together they created the New Decree of Man. This short and simple document acted as a sort of constitution between human populated worlds. There were four tenants to this decree, First any world, colony,or collection of colonies and worlds could form their own union recognizable by the other factions of humanity so long as it is not in dispute by the populations to be represented by the union. Secondly No Union may enact their will upon any world not within their union and succession was to be handled amicably and without warfare. Thirdly what a world produced was theirs to own and trade with as they see fit, only taking a backseat to any pre established contracts within the union that world is a part of. Finally war between Unions is strictly prohibited and will be quelled by all unions within the collective of human worlds. With these new tenants in place The three unions were born, The red Union of Mars, Phobos, Deimos, And several asteriod colonies, The Terra Union of Earth and the moon, And the Swarm Union made of the colonies rotating Jupiter, and the moons of jupiter. Putting their collective resources and minds together these three unions would lead the collective of mankind into the era of Expansion with the development of the Brightvoid Transit Array.

Known by many as the golden era, this was the era which began with the completion of the Brightvoid transit array in the year 2297. Its first use happening 3 years later at the start of the 24th century. A ship was launched to alpha century after the array sheathed it in brightvoid radiation and it arrived instantly. So mankind went further, this time aiming for the edge of the observable universe...once again the ship arrived instantly but what it discovered shocked humanity. The edge of the observable universe did not move away as they neared it as had once been theorized. It wasnt our visual range that was limited by the 55 billion lightyear distance, rather the universe just seemed to end. Light didnt reach past a certain point, a just a little bit further beyond that and ships couldnt fly anymore as the entire gravity of the observable universe would pull the ship back. Our universe was shown to be finite, yet big enough to explore for ages. So mankind began launching colony ships in every direction leaving the solar system and even the galaxy itself. Each world they made into a home would quickly erect an array of their own sending their own colony ships out in an ever growing expansion. In 1000 years they had filled the milkey way, a thousand years after that and they had filled hundreds of galaxies, and with each millennia the amount of worlds and galaxies filled by man grew exponentially. By the sixth millennia 80% of the observable universe has been filled with the other 20% being broken down for resources. Finally the golden era came to a violent end when resources began to run dry.
Eventually as things grew scarce a world called Yavone was suffering from a drought and made a desperate maneuver raiding a nearby world from a different union for their water. This resulted in a war between two unions that each held half a galaxy worth of territory. Earth made an effort to intervene politically as the capitol of the collective human empire, but the unions turned their guns on earth wiping out humanities homeworld. That was the spark that set the powder keg off. Within a year of the earths destruction the universe was swept into a massive war. So many men died in this chaotic war that entire ocean worlds of blood were born hense the naming of this era. This bloody nightmare would last an agonizing 2000 years with entire galaxies being rendered barren and the death toll rising so high that it could only be counted with mathematical equations. Almost half of humanity would perish, but just like the war started without warning, it would end just as suddenly.
A battle on the universal edge pitted The Galvin Union, Against the Spaulder Union with the latter bringing the Dreadnaught Known as the Adamant which boasted the strongest void shields in the entire collective of man. This dreadnaught was pushing deep into Galvin union territory until three worlds pointed their country sized void cannons at it and overloaded their reactors creating the single strongest Brightvoid laser known to man. It erased the Adamant in an instant and kept going until it struck the universal edge...where it broke through. The new hole punched through what we thought was the edge of the universe revealed many more stars and galaxies on the other side. The collective of mankind ended the war as soon as news hit and the weapons of war developed over the last 2000 years were repositioned to the edge of the observable universe where they unleashed incalculable destructive power against the universal edge they were locked behind. As the shell around our chunk of the universe crumbled mankind let out a collective cheer of freedom.
This cheer quickly transformed into a cry of horror however. Man had long wondered why no matter how many worlds we found we never found any other life. The answer lie just beyond that barrier as waiting for the ships of man was a fleet of alien vessels from countless worlds. A fleet that outnumbered the ships of man a thousand to one. The aliens opened fire without so much as a warning and in the first barrage the greatest weapons of man were turned into space debris and the small escort fleets with them suffered the same fate. The aliens then crept inward rolling through the unions of man and burning our worlds to cinders. Humanity of course fought back and killed more than they lost, but the swarms of different species descended upon the collective of man like a rain without end. We surely wouldve drowned if not for the miraculous workings of The Red Union of mars. They turned the entire center of the milkey way galaxy into a massive brightvoid generator and erected a voidshield like none before it around the entire galaxy. Halting the aliens advances and giving mankind time to mourn, and eventually strike back.

Population growth has been encouraged and resulted in an unprecedented 19% population growth rate per year. In addition planetary colonies were abandoned as the rocky planets were converted into countless starships made for battle. Humanity has become almost exclusively a nomadic space faring race as they craft billions of Colony ships made to lay siege to worlds. The fires of war burn hotter than ever before as children are raised on stories of the horrors of the Era of blood, and the cruel aliens maniacal genocidal ways that threaten to prevent our kind from reaching beyond the prison they have made for us. With the Galaxy reactor nearing the end of its life man prepares for their final great thrust outward either to push back the alien hordes, or die in a blaze of glory. With 100% of Adult humans being militarized, and the age of adulthood being lowered to 15, mankind has mustered a massive army. The question is will it be enough, and even if it is...is mankind really worth all the bloodshed to come.
