Leu was one of the more compassionate of the demons, being the one of the most loyal to the war. While he saw no reason in the war, he believed it was his sworn duty to fight side by side with his people.
The war was horrifying, demons and humans dying, dropping like flies. Leu was injured as well, his pride in tatters as his entire army was eliminated. Before the humans could take Leu prisoner, the demon unleashed his true form, slaughtering the army before retreating back to the lands alone.
Days passed after the horrible slaughter of his people where he slowly started to recuperate in solitary. Upon his lonely travels, he felt an energy behind him. Turning around, he was greeted by a small girl staring straight at him. Her beautiful, green eyes and well kept blonde hair caught his eye quickly. Before he was even able to hold himself back, the Demon started to walk towards the small girl. She started to back away from him, until her back hit against a tree. Seeing as she had nowhere to run, his left arm shot out, pushing her hands above her head. The small girl kicked and struggled, but to no avail.
“So beautiful…. You’re so innocent, I can feel it.”
From the trees around them, a rumbling could be heard from the trees, screaming followed by laughing and explosions.
“What’s going on? W-what’s happening?! Let go, let me go!”
Leu looked at the girl in surprise before letting her go. He could still remember the color of her eyes for the moment their eyes locked before she quickly ran towards the village. Standing back up, he was still entranced by the beautiful woman he had just encountered.
Following after the young girl before bursting through the village and finding himself in the midst of a battle. Leu’s eyes quickly scanned the battlefield, spotting the girl, a massive blade threatening to chop off her head.
Before the blade could touch her, Leu’s greatsword deflected the attack.
Once Leu cleaned up the rest of the invaders, the village slowly started to recover, the people who were able to move helping the injured and helping those who were trapped under rubble.
Feeling the strange, beautiful energy again, he turned around to see the young girl poking his side.
“I don’t know who you are, I don’t know what you are, but you are going to tell me your name, right now!”
Her voice lacked much of a command to it but it was obvious that she was trying her best. Almost instantly after she said what she did, she stumbled back a little. Leu smiled before nodding and speaking his reply.
“I am Leu Rege, The Lion Demon.”
Leu later found out the girl’s name was Jewel and after those days, it didn't take long before the two started to create a strong bond. Of course the village weary of his being but eventually accepting the demon for he was the one that saved their village. Months passed and the two became inseparable, Leu helping Jewels with small tasks such as picking herbs and also the other villagers with a variety of tasks but most importantly being the knight of the village.
Despite their growing and close relationship, it was unknown if Jewel had loved Leu at the time but he had loved her since their first encounter first met her.
It had been weeks since the last demon attack, growing rather quiet until a summer’s Eve's night, the demons finally struck. Hordes of demons attacked the small village. Blood-thirsty, vengeful spirits attacked, slaughtering the villagers. Jewel tried to go out of the house but Leu refused, grabbing the small girl by the clothing of her rear, shoving her into the closet, and locking the closet with a large chain. He could hear her retaliating from within the wooden box, knowing that this was the only way to protect her.
“My my my. How fragile you are. I am surprised that the Lion Demon fell for such a fragile, young creature. Watch your lover now, as he struggles against my army.”
Hearing a demonic laugh echo through the forest, he quickly turned around. It was the Skeletal King but his heart dropped once seeing what was in the massive King’s hand. Leu growled, his massive form billowing smoke from every part of his body.
“Let her go Skeletal King. I have defeated your army! You are left with nothing left! Yield, and I will give you a quick death.”
However the Skeletal King only laughed in response. Despite knowing he had lost, the Skeletal King knew what would cause Leu to lose it.
“You have always been a sharp thorn to my side, Leu. It doesn’t matter anymore. I will be ending this, permanently.”
Before he was able to stop the King, he quickly punctured through the girl’s chest. Leu roared in agony as he charged at the King, the King only laughing as Leu killed him. Catching Jewel seconds before she hit the ground, Leu looked down at his beautiful lover, now stained by her own crimson colored blood. His eyes start to fill with tears, something he had never done before, his hands slowly cupping hers.
“Stay with me beautiful, just stay with me. It’s okay, I’m here for you.”
But his words were futile, Jewel’s eyes slowly dimming.
Jewel looked up at him for the final time, her right hand grazing his cheek as she smiled as brightly as she did the first time.
“I….I-I’m….. Ok.. I promise.. S-sorr...sorry… love….”
“No, no please don’t die. Jewel, stay with me. Jewel! JEWEL!”
Leu finally broke down and cried, his tears rippling through the pool of her blood.
“I…. I swear…. I promise that I will always fight for you, I swear….”
Months after the incident, the Lion Demon was found lying at the edge of a cliff, hordes of dead bodies all around him, his own in tatters, blood completely covering him. Looking up at the sky, up at where Jewel was, his eyes closing just as her’s did knowing that they’d meeting again some day.
