π•π–†π–˜π–Žπ–ˆπ–˜
Full Name: Everleigh Adelaide Moreau
Nickname(s): Ever, Eve, etc
Age (21-30): 24
Gender: Female
Sexuality: very very closeted Bisexual
Species: Human
Role: Ex- Royal

π“π–•π–•π–Šπ–†π–—π–†π–“π–ˆπ–Š
General Overview: Ever stands at 5’4. She’s the shortest of all her siblings- most of them being 5’5 and up. Her long red hair was given to her by her father, she is the only one in her family that was blessed with her fathers red locks. Her build would considered thin. The only muscles she has is in her buttocks and her legs. Some would consider her to have a mean RBF until she opens her mouth.

Body modifications: Only her ear lobes which she adorns with heavy jewelry.

Clothing: Before the fall of the walls, she would almost always wear heavy dresses made with the most exquisite fabrics. Now, she tries to go for comfortable. Which means she often wears leather pants and lighter dresses, if the occasion calls for them. Her hair, braided and pulled away from her face, she usually likes a half up, half down hair style.

Face Claim: Marina Ruy Barbosa

π“Ÿπ–Šπ–—π–˜π–”π–“π–†π–‘π–Žπ–™π–ž
Overview: Outwardly, Everleigh seems like a perfect little princess. Always doing want her parents wanted, never talking back. A perfect Angel, but looks can be deceiving. She’s actually very blunt and sarcastic.

Once she warms up to you and you see the perfect mask she keeps, crack, you’ll see she isn’t perfect at all. Shes bratty but very friendly, and loves to learn about anything and everything. She’s always asking questions about the things she doesn’t already know about. Everything about her is very methodical. She takes her time with her words and never says anything that she doesn’t mean.

Likes: a gentle rain, horse back riding, painting, archery.

Dislikes: the expectations set upon her, boats, cold temperatures, spiders.

Fears: Deep water, anybody finding out about her powers, loud sounds like thunder, cannons, etc.

π“π–‡π–Žπ–‘π–Žπ–™π–Žπ–Šπ–˜
Main Skills:

- Jack of all trades: Growing up she was moulded into the perfect heir for the throne. Having to learn everything from, Academics, politics, fine arts and the study of war to be a well rounded Queen one day.

- Her telepathy/ clairvoyance: Even if she doesn’t like to admit it, her magic can be quite useful at times.

Secondary Skills:
- Academically inclined: Most of her knowledge is from books. Though this could also be seen as one of her short comings since she doesn’t have Lot of real world experiences from being stuck inside the castle walls.

- Extremely personable: She’s a excellent communicator. Though she can be a little forward, she almost always knows what to say in times of crisis.

- Strategy: The art of war has been instilled in her head ever since she was a small child. She has always excelled at coming up with successful battle strategies.

Other Skills (3-5) (i.e. cooking, navigating, reading weather, learning languages, etc.) Weapon(s) Used (Maximum of 3)

- Geography: the future Queen must know about her kingdom/ surrounding kingdoms. Which also means knowing the different customs and cultures.

- Great shot with a bow and arrow

- Proficient swordsmanship

- Decent climbing abilities

- Skilled horseback rider

π“Ÿπ–†π–˜π–™:
Everleigh Adelaide Moreau was born to the King and Queen of Camsir on a cold winter’s night. The winter was harsh that year, most of the kingdom fell Ill due to the cold temperatures and Ever was no exception, even with the warm castle walls.

The sickness didn’t end with the season of the cold. It didn’t even end within that year. She was sick for the most part of her childhood. Her parents scoured the kingdom, hiring the best healers in all the land. That’s how she met Ryn. The better she got, the stronger her feelings for Ryn became. But she never acted on them, having been prepped for the throne her whole life and such behaviors are very much forbidden.

It wasn’t until Ever was about 13 years old did she notice her magic. It started out as whispers in the back of her mind whenever she touched the skin of a another. At first, she didn’t think anything of it, it wasn’t until the voice became louder and more prominent in the forefront of her mind, did she figure out she had magic. What once was just indistinct murmurs, was now full fledged words. She could hear what others people were thinking whenever she touched them. The once bubbly, energetic princess became more subdued. She began wearing gloves and avoiding the touch of others.

The rest of her childhood went as you would have expected it to, a tight schedule, not a hair out of place as she spent years and years training to be the perfect Queen of Camsir. Never having time for things she enjoyed the most like, dancing, drinking mead and painting. Her life had been meticulously planned out from the moment she was born- what to wear, when to wear it, who to love. She was barely allowed to leave the castle grounds. All of her information of life outside the walls was controlled by the royal advisors so when the riots started, it was very much a shock to Everleigh.

Everything happened so quickly for her. One minute she was training to be the best Queen, the next she was escaping the castle while her father was being beheaded. She escaped through the secret passageway she found as a child, barely having time to grab anything, but a few books and few sentimental items. The passageway led her all the way out to the royal stables, where opal stayed. She took her and rode off to freedom.

π•Ίπ–™π–π–Šπ–—
Reputation: Even with being next in line for the throne, she has always been a bit of mystery to the kingdom is Camsir. Not many people know who Princess Everleigh is. There are very many questions other ask to each other in hushed whispers, like why is she never seen touching anyone? And why does she always wear those gloves?

Why Will They Join the Party? Because she is the last known member of the Royal family.

Biggest Secrets (2-3)
- Her sexuality/ crush on Ryn: Ever has always fancied the same sex. She has never told anyone that she likes girls. It’s forbidden for someone of her status to have feelings for ladies. She has never acted on these urges and there is a lot of uncertainty within her about them.

- Her magic: It seems her whole life she has been able to read the minds of those who’s skin touched hers. As she grew older her powers evolved, morphing into being able to see others past, and sometimes their futures too. She has never disclosed the information that she can use telepathy to anyone. She doesn’t like her magic so she almost always avoids touching the skin of others or she wears gloves to combat it.

- Her secret passageway: As a little girl she stumbled upon a small passageway behind a bookcase in the royal library which led to a small room filled with ancient texts and spell books. In the room there’s a door and another tunnel leading out to the Royal stables.

Extra:
- Managed to escape with her royal steed: Opal.
- Her favorite animal is a fox.
- Loves sweets.

Kinzi has always pushed boundaries, often disobeying figures of authority or eavesdropping in a tavern if it will end up serving her in any way. It's a trait she blames on her father's rigidity, causing her to act out in order to get attention, but she also isn't much for vulnerability either. Her quick wit has been an asset she has always relied on in order to get out of the sticky situations her rebellious nature has gotten her into, and her natural charm certainly helps. Despite this, she does find herself lonely since the loss of her mother and two brothers, often finding herself in the bed of a stranger just to not spend the night alone.

history

***TW: themes of emotional abuse/child abuse and mild gore/violence***

Kinzi was born the youngest of four children–two brothers and one sister. Her father was a high-ranking soldier in the Vallonde military, and a skilled Tempest mage to boot, while her mother taught at the College of Camsir and was home more often than him as a result.

They were never particularly wealthy, but they were content. There was food on the table each night and a roof over their heads, and while Kinzi did have to share a bed with her sister, she found she didn't mind it so much. Especially as she got older and noticed more and more people sitting on Camsir's busiest street corners with their palms turned to the sky, begging for scraps from chapped lips.

What she did mind was the nights her father joined them for supper. She and each of her siblings would be on their best behavior until he would leave again, often to disappear for months at a time. Their fear of him wasn't unfounded–he had always been an imposing force of a man and very strict. He expected his children to present themselves in a manner he felt was fitting for someone of his rank and talent, for rambunctious, undisciplined children were no children of his. Despite never being particularly loud or aggressive, he would lash out in more creative ways, using his abilities in a manner that would often times make Kinzi wish he had locked her in her room or beaten her instead.

It got worse when she began to display an aptitude for Jinx magic, while none of her siblings seemed to have any. He focused his attention on her tenfold, pressuring her to train for being tested so he could guarantee her a spot in the University. This drove Kinzi to rebellion in the little ways she could, using her magic to sneak out at night into taverns where she would bask in the warmth and learn how to play music from the bards. She found she quite adored the atmosphere there, and by twelve years old she would boast that she could out-drink any man in Camsir.

Unwilling to leave the city behind to pursue a future she didn't even want, she purposefully failed the aptitude test when it came time. Her father was furious, and after punishing her, refused to acknowledge her each time he visited from that point forward. Kinzi visited the taverns more as she grew older, eventually coming to work as a bard alongside those that had taught her their craft.

By the time she was eighteen, she had mastered several instruments and made a name for herself around the city as "the girl with the voice of a siren." Her sister had moved out after she'd finished studying at the College, and her two brothers remained in the house to help with chores while they completed their studies. Aside from her father treating her as little more than a ghost, life was good.

Until the riots broke out. They lived deep within the city, close to the markets which attracted the most people. In all the chaos, their house caught flame in the middle of the night while everyone was asleep. None of them survived except for Kinzi, since her bedroom was farthest from where the fire started. All she remembers from that night is smoke, and the smell of her own flesh burning as she crawled out the door, heat licking up her spine only to leave jagged scars should she ever dare to forget what had happened.

She moved in with her sister, but was changed from that point forward. Their father didn't visit anymore–he could've been dead for all she knew. Kinzi spent more time in the taverns, eventually resorting to going home with different strangers so she wouldn't have to face her sister each night, who looked more and more like their mother as they grew older. Singing songs and spending the worst nights in the arms of someone she didn't know became her life as the city changed around her.

The thought of things getting worse didn't occur to her until she woke up to flames a second time in her life, screams pouring in from the streets where the people who ran for safety were brutally murdered just feet outside their own homes. Kinzi's first thought had been her sister, who was nowhere to be found. The last thing she saw before she ran for Dimdenn was her father's blood-covered uniform and unmistakably cold eyes.

05.

skills/abilities

main skill 01. jinx mind magic

Due to her natural aptitude for magic, Kinzi is able to use her abilities to influence the minds of those she chooses. Typically, this will be in the form of persuading someone into forgetting something, entrancing them, or getting them to complete a very brief task. However, since she was never formally trained at the University, she cannot always do these things without faltering, and can't really accomplish things a more practiced mage could.

main skill 02. natural charm

While her jinx magic does help her to sway people into doing her bidding, she does have a natural charisma about her that makes her an easy person to trust, or perhaps tell you deepest secrets to.

secondary skill 01. quick wit

Her attempts at evading her father have taught Kinzi how to think quickly on her feet, and it typically steers her out of trouble. For the most part.

secondary skill 03. reading people

Another benefit from spending a lot of her time in taverns, but also part of growing up with siblings. She's learned how to read people at least moderately well, whether it's via their clothing, posture, cleanliness, or tone of voice–she'll likely have a decent idea of a situation just by entering the room.

other skill 01. humor

Being bad at vulnerability but also good with people means Kinzi knows how to keep conversations lighthearted, so that she doesn't have to reveal much about herself, and typically that's with jokes and sarcastic comments.

other skill 02. lying

Also a benefit of being good at reading people and avoiding vulnerability like the plague. She could be lying through her teeth at any given moment, and you likely wouldn't know unless you've known her for some time.

other skill 03. flirting

She's old enough by now to know just what talking in a low voice and batting your eyelashes can do to people if they find you even remotely attractive.

06.

miscellaneous

reputation

She's known for being her father's daughter, but mainly for being arguably the best bard in town.

why will they join the party?

she has no one else, and she's terrified of being alone.

biggest secrets

β€’ her father was part of the army that "cleansed" camsir
β€’ she has jinx magic! and failed her test on purpose oops

other

β€’ she has slightly pointed ears due to her father being human and her mother being an elf.
β€’ while she isn't proficient in weapon use, she does typically have a dagger strapped to her thigh when she's working.

Riordan Warwick

Face Claim: Freddy Carter
π•π–†π–˜π–Žπ–ˆπ–˜
Full Name: Riordan Warwick
Nickname(s) β€œThe War Merchant”
Age: 30
Gender: Male (cisgender)
Sexuality: Homosexual
Species: Human
Role: The Thief

π“π–•π–•π–Šπ–†π–—π–†π–“π–ˆπ–Š
At 5’10”, with a lean build, and slightly gaunt in the face, Riordan is not a physically imposing man. He has dark brown hair kept mostly short on the sides, scrutinizing blue eyes, and light skin occasionally marked by superficial scars - especially along his arms and back. He has no tattoos (such things would only make him easier to identify by the guards) and no piercings.

Despite having a significant amount of money, Riordan’s clothes are not particularly fancy. A plain, light brown tunic under a leather jerkin covered with fabric, and a warm cloak. He owed more, but it was all that he took with him when he fled the city.

π“Ÿπ–Šπ–—π–˜π–”π–“π–†π–‘π–Žπ–™π–ž
Overview
Riordan has his public-facing mannerisms since he has a reputation to uphold - sly, observant, tactical, intelligent, driven, talented, and with a quick smile on the best days - but on bad days this makes him a cold, greedy, dangerous snake. At his worst, he’ll simply drink in silence.

Alone or in an intimate setting, he is not an open book by any means. The fake smile fades, replaced by a resting frown, and he will seem lost in deep thought. Direct eye contact is not easy, but even harder is opening up to anyone about anything. He does not know how to talk about emotions, or feelings - only tangible things, like money and magic. To him, magic is more real and β€œsolid” than his feelings ever could be.

Riordan prefers not to be the leader of anything, but someone who works from the shadows in the background - being the one in control, but not the one that everybody looks at first. He does not particularly enjoy having too much focus on him, for too long, but will absolutely step up to intimidate or persuade someone into compliance if need be. If pushed too much, his temper will flare - and that is not a pleasant thing to be on the receiving end.

Likes
  1. Money. Riordan is obsessed with wealth - gaining it, spending it, and using it to his advantage. He doesn’t seem to have an end goal as to how to use all this money, has no family to support, and often spends it as fast as he earns it. The only thing that could explain his desire for money at this point is that it is a compulsion.
  2. Magic. Despite his deep displeasure for the Isle of Magi’s school and their β€œboring and inefficient” way of teaching students, Riordan has a sincere love of magic - particularly the performance of it. No matter how common magic is in general, he still gets a thrill out of using it - especially in impressive or shocking ways in front of others. Jinx magic may not be flashy by itself, but he always finds a way to make such with the items he sells.
  3. Drinking & Gambling. One of his favorite past-times and ways to spend his excess money, Riordan is no stranger to taverns and back-room gambling games. The less legal, the better. He prefers back-alley bars, hole-in-the-wall establishments, and other dark spots around Camsir where he won’t be accosted by anyone too nosy for their own good. If the establishment is a brothel, then it's even better. His favorite drink is dark ale.
Dislikes
  1. Reading. He’s never enjoyed reading for pleasure - it's too much sitting around and staring, and not enough doing. It also reminds him of his unhappy childhood and his bullies, a time he prefers to bury in the past.
  2. Rich, Spoiled, & Powerful People. Having grown up poor and subject to the brunt of teasing from classmates who came from money, he has a deep bitterness towards those who flaunt their wealth and power, including the royal family. Both of them. Despite being money-hungry himself, he somehow manages to do some mental gymnastics and convince himself that he is not as bad as those wealthy people he hates - even if it is an unfair assessment.
  3. The Wilderness. Riordan is a city man, through and through. While no stranger to getting his hands dirty (figuratively or literally), sleeping in uncomfortable beds, or enduring poor weather, he still prefers doing all this while within city limits, where the comforts of city living are at least possibly accessible if you have the coin. He much prefers a roof over his head and seasoned food on his plate, rather than stars and plain meat on a stick over a fire pit. A refugee camp is not his ideal place to be.
Fears
  1. Deep Water. Riordan has been on a ship twice in his life: Once on the way to the Isle of Magi, and once on the way back. That is twice too many times for one life, for him. If not fighting off nausea, he’ll be hiding somewhere below deck so he doesn’t have to see the water. Being forced into any body of water deeper than what is strictly necessary to wash in will make him panic, and he absolutely hates having his head or face underwater. He’s a poor swimmer on top of this fear, so he absolutely avoids deep water at all costs.

π“π–‡π–Žπ–‘π–Žπ–™π–Žπ–Šπ–˜
Main Skills
  1. Jinx Magic (Specialization: Inventor)
  2. Tempest Magic (Specialization: Metaphysical)

Secondary Skills
  1. Negotiation. He’s navigated the complex world of taxes and import/export laws for enough years that he has a solid handle on how contracts work, and all the ways to get into - or out of - one. King Seadane may turn the whole legal system upside down, but hopefully that experience taught him something.
  2. Stealth. Years of obtaining goods illegally have taught him a few tricks when it comes to moving silently through various environments. Those ill-gotten goods didn’t just fall into his lap (not all of them, anyway). He can silently approach almost anyone without the use of magic - adding it only makes him more slippery. You can’t see him coming if your senses are dulled, after all.
  3. Physical Combat. Selling stolen goods of any kind is dangerous work, but even more so when those are magical goods worth more than some people’s yearly income. Whether it be hand-to-hand combat or with a weapon, he has at least a decent working knowledge of how to defend himself and hopefully not immediately lose an altercation.

Other Skills
  1. Excellent Memory. Names, faces, dates, random tidbits of information - his mind is a steel trap for anything he deems interesting or useful.
  2. Reading Maps. He’s seen numerous maps of many kinds of places - cities and wildlands alike - while planning how to have one of his β€œintermediaries” physically obtain goods for him. He’s adept at interpreting the various symbols and styles used in maps, both common and rare.
  3. Poison - Creation & Administration. Many think poison is a β€œwoman’s weapon”. Those people are idiots. Those people are also more often than not killed by poison.
  4. Card Games. Specifically, how to always win, when he wants to. Whether it is cheating, magic, or just skill, he seems to have the upper hand in most card games.

Weapons Used
  1. Cane-Sword. Hidden inside what looks merely like an ornate walking stick is a razor-sharp rapier. The handle of the stick is carved in the shape of a raven’s head and is made of silver. This is a subtly-enchanted magical item, enchanted to return to Riordan’s hand should he ever lose it.
  2. Steel Dagger. Strapped to his lower back, out of sight, is a steel dagger. This is a subtly-enchanted magical item, enchanted to be hidden from plain sight so that he looks unarmed. If physically searched with a pat-down, the dagger would still be felt, and then revealed.
  3. Tempest Magic. If the physical fails, there is always the magical - particularly fire and earth elements (especially a manipulation of metals via earth magicks). Not water, though.

π“Ÿπ–†π–˜π–™
Born in Camsir, Riordan remembers more about the city’s streets than about his family or his home from when he was little. His father drank himself into an early grave, and his mother always seemed to be working outside of the house somewhere. At age twelve, he was tested for magical aptitude - and mercifully, was accepted to attend schooling on the Isle of Magi. Unable to deal with raising a child she was never interested in having to begin with, she sent him off to the Isle - alone.

Riordan excelled in the practical application of his studies, but not in β€œextraneous nonsense” that the school required him to do - such as write essays, read books, or do anything that did not directly and immediately related to the practice of magic. Unlike most of his peers, Riordan struggled with reading and writing, having not previously been provided the kind of education or support he needed to learn such adequately. He eventually caught up in such skills, but not without developing a deep distaste for doing too much of it - and picking up a bully along the way.

Riordan was always experimenting with magic, consequences be damned. He wasn’t learning by reading about magic in a book, he was learning by doing it. Even if that meant starting a few accidental fires, creating a crater in someone’s garden, fusing metal doors together, and creating some dangerous devices that no child under the age of eighteen should have access to.

This earned Riordan a bit of a reputation at the school when he was older. While some teachers applauded his ability to catch on quickly, most were concerned he was too much of a liability. A dangerous hazard, even. It did not help that Riordan and a few other misfits in the school, including Roarke who would quickly become his best friend, had somehow figured out a system of infiltration and distractions that allowed them to steal supplies from various locked rooms and cabinets around the school for their own β€œstudy” (and entertainment) purposes.

An eventual investigation into Riordan’s antics at the school uncovered his thievery ring included no less than half a dozen other student culprits. On top of that, they weren’t just using the stolen goods for themselves, but were selling them under the table to fellow students at a severe markup. At the age of sixteen, he was already the ringleader of his own gang within the college’s halls.

The next year, Riordan was expelled from the school - he was too much of a danger and was a poor example to the other students. His best friend, Roarke, was also expelled for the same reason. Instructors breathed a sigh of relief when both were shipped back home.

By this point, he hadn’t received a letter from his mother in two years. He wasn’t interested in trying to find her again, so he returned to Camsir and struck out on his own (with Roarke at his side), intent on using his newfound skills to make his own way in life. You didn’t need to be a graduate to make your own fortune, he figured. Riordan soon disappeared back into the criminal world of the city - back home, where he belonged.

Since then, Riordan had been building his empire of stolen magical goods - some smuggled from the Isle of Magi, others simply stolen from one owner and sold to another. This has made him very familiar with the bureaucracy of the Kingdom with regards to import-export laws, taxation, and a myriad of other legal nonsense the average person doesn’t care much about. All of this is in pursuit of obtaining magical items at the lowest cost and a risk he can handle, so that he can sell them to the highest bidder. Discretion is everything, and he doesn’t ask for more information from his potential buyers than he actually needs. The more dangerous or rare an item is, the better - and more thrilling to Riordan. Roarke was at his side every step of the way.

Life was good, until King Seadane ruined everything. Uncertainty surrounding the beginning of the war caused a brief uptick in sales of magic items, especially those for protection or self-defense, but once the violence was in full swing, the market for magic items was all but destroyed. It became impossible to smuggle new items into the city, and potential buyers were scared off - or killed off - left and right. The crackdown made even legal commerce happening in broad daylight difficult, so illegal trades done under the table were twice as risky. Buyers dried up, goods disappeared, and soon Riordan had no business.

Riordan could have handled laying low for a few years until things settled down, or until he had a plan to start over in another city - Ravensbourne, maybe, with how hungry the citizens there were for outside trade, if one could manage it. It almost did work, too, until one night when King Seadane’s enforcers raided a hole-in-the-wall tavern looking for dissidents. The official story was that guards searched a tavern looking for someone accused of treason. The reality, however, was that drunk enforcers busted into the tavern looking for a fight, and started dragging people out into the street for random executions.

Roarke was one of the unlucky few to be executed in the street that night.

Riordan hastily buried Roarke’s body in a secret location, grabbed a few belongings, and fled the city. He needed his revenge, but he needed time and opportunity to come up with a plan first.

π•Ίπ–™π–π–Šπ–—
Reputation
Riordan’s name is not exactly a household name, not among the typical upstanding citizen living on the right side of the law, but those with connections to the criminal underbelly, and those with enough money, likely know him by his trade name - The War Merchant. The man that can get any kind of magical item you might need, no matter how deadly or dangerous.

Depending on your morality, that name is either said with the disgust or fear reserved for bloodthirsty, unscrupulous dealers of death, or his name is said with respect for someone who ought not be crossed. While never considered to be the person directly responsible for some of the more notable assassinations in the last ten years or so, it is presumed he probably had a hand in those deaths, one way or another - especially of those who died were wealthy and powerful. There is no proof, however, and the wanted posters that occasionally go up tend to come down just as quickly.

Few people can connect a face to this name, and where he lives or operates is hard to pin down. Some people think he might even be a myth - long dead, never existed, or one of many people operating under the same name. Working so closely with Roarke only helped feed this myth.

When given the chance to meet the man behind the name, some people may not believe him, others may be intrigued, while others would be fearful or distrusting of his motives.

Why Join the Party?
Riordan has a bone to pick with King Seadane’s men, and is focused on getting revenge for Roarke’s death. Although he was forced to flee the city to the refugee camp like many others, he doesn’t plan on sitting idly by or running away forever. He needs money, supplies, a place to lay low, and most importantly, a plan. Maybe this group is a means to an end, an opportunity to make money, or at least a way to keep occupied until he can put his head on straight again and come up with a plan. Even if it takes him years of slowly enacting his revenge, one strike at a time, he’ll get it. One way or another.

Biggest Secrets
  1. Roarke’s Death.
The true nature of the relationship itself was a secret to begin with, for their mutual safety, but now that he’s dead it is the last thing Riordan wants to talk about. It is no comfort to him that many other people around him have lost loved ones in the war. He just doesn’t know how to open up at all, let alone about something he’s never talked about before.

  1. Where Did His Fortune Go?
Riordan made a significant amount of money with each item he sold. So where did all that money go? There was never any obvious sign around the city of someone with money moving in - no new fancy estates being built, no major renovations, nothing. Guards who tried to locate him checked all the usual places a criminal might blow a large amount of money - taverns, gambling halls, and the like - and still couldn’t track him down. One thing that never caught the attention of guards, however, were modest-sized anonymous donations made at random times throughout the year to the city’s orphanages and hospitals. This is not something he’ll admit for a number of reasons - including the fact he has an image to maintain.

  1. Slow Reader.
One would think with all the time Riordan has spent dealing with laws and contracts, he could speed-read his way through even the most complicated documents. This isn’t the case. He’s much better at orally weaseling his way out of a situation, rather than relying on the might of his pen. He is by no means illiterate, but even as an adult, he struggles. It embarrasses and angers him, so he does anything he can to try and avoid situations where he needs to read in front of others.

  1. Guilty, Sometimes.
Many rumors swirl around whether The War Merchant was responsible for one assassination or another. Truth be told, he has killed people before - but most of those deaths people talk about were done by professional assassins hired by rivals. All he did was supply the necessary poison or magical item needed for the job. This might make him guilty by association, but he is by no means innocent.

  1. Not Just a Merchant.
Skilled with Jinx magic, not every item he sells has been created by someone else and stolen - several have been his own creations. He claims they’re stolen anyways; it helps markup the price. Consider it a β€œdanger fee”.

  1. Why Does He Hate Water?
He refuses to talk about it in any depth, saying it dates back to something his mother did when he was younger. In truth, she tried to drown him in a bathtub as a child. He tries to repress this memory as much as he can.

The Ex-Guard

  • Introduction

    Full Name: Garth Pendrell
    Nickname(s): The Sewer Knight, 'Garf'
    Age: 25
    Gender: Cisgender male
    Sexuality: Heterosexual
    Species: Human
    Alignment: Lawful Neutral
    Role: The Ex-Guard

    Appearance

Picture a grizzled alleycat, grimy in body and soul, shoulders heavy with the scars of an unsavory life. The former guardsman Garth is an alleycat in human form, a limber and world-weary figure that aged too harshly too soon. In every sense, he is the antithesis of the typical guardsman. He stands at a meager 5'9" (175 cm), his presence in a room a subtle fly on the wall compared to the boisterous command of his meatier comrades. His facial features have been chiseled through years of hard labor and frowning, and a five-week shadow of a beard lines his jaw. Garth's eyes are of a deep blue and his brown hair loose up to his neck. A grievous scar adorns his chest, a a diagonal sword slash.

For a guard, their armor is their wardrobe. Garth is no exception to this rule, but he does seem to prefer armor of lighter makes than the typical militia plates. Leather and hide offer adequate protection while not hindering his mobility in the slightest. Aside from his armor, his fashion consists of pragmatic earthy tones, clothes of simple weave much like a farmer or laborer would wear. Garth also packs a brown cotton cloak to ward against the elements and detection.

Appearance

At a first impression, Nina is the least threatening person one could meet. Nina’s shorter than most and her build is very soft. She’s curvy and has wide set hips, but she isn’t thin. Nina has some relatively developed muscle, as to be expected of a soldier. Her skin is a deep bronze color that is more often than not, tanned a bit darker by the sun. Her skin is soft and dotted with freckles that also become fainter in the colder times of the year.
Nina’s eyes are the most prominent feature of her face, they’re large and downturned, as if she’s perpetually pleading for something. But there’s a certain brightness in her expression that makes her appear less like a pleading puppy. Nina's eyes are a cool gray color, highlighted with a warm green color. Nina’s got a button nose and plump lips, her mouth seems to naturally be pulled in a smile. Her smile reveals dimples. Her beauty is soft, and easily puts one at ease.
Nina’s hair is long and well taken care of. Her hair collects itself into a bed neat coils that bounce when she walks. Nina has curly bangs that obscure her forehead and frame her face. Sometimes she’ll push back the longer parts of her bangs that obscure her ears so her earrings can be visible.

psyche

Nina is a deeply flawed individual. While she appears to be a kind and caring person on the surface, her true self is much more troubled and insecure. She constantly struggles to maintain her persona of the compassionate, selfless friend and is willing to go to great lengths to ensure that others see her in this way. She is deeply afraid of showing any vulnerability or weakness, fearing that this will lead to rejection or abandonment.

At the same time, Nina is fiercely independent and resists relying on others for support. She holds herself to an impossibly high standard and is prone to self-criticism and self-doubt. Her fear of not being good enough drives her to work tirelessly to achieve success, but this often comes at the cost of neglecting her own well-being.

Despite her struggles, Nina is also incredibly perceptive and empathetic. She is able to read people and understand their needs and desires, which makes her a natural at soothing and comforting others. However, she is also prone to manipulating others, using her charming, doe-eyed gaze to get what she wants or to avoid showing her true emotions.

Nina struggles with a deep sense of shame and self-doubt, causing her to hide her true thoughts and feelings from those closest to her. She feels unworthy of love and struggles to accept kindness or support from others. She’s quite relentless in her hatred of herself, justifying her self sabotage as some kind of martyrdom. Nina frequently stews in her suffering, finding her own misery to be more comforting than that of happiness. Her pain is familiar to her, it is deserved. And by not fighting it, Nina can convince herself that the terrible things that happened to her were in her control because she chose misery for herself. That she was atoning for existing in some way.

Although her behavior may sometimes come across as dishonest or manipulative, it stems from a place of fear and self-preservation rather than malice. Nina is still learning how to navigate her own emotions and relationships with others. She's extremely guarded and doesn't allow herself to trust others, but she's willing to go to great lengths to help those she cares about. Her manipulative tendencies come from a deep desire to protect herself and the people she loves from harm. She's willing to do morally questionable things if it means ensuring the safety and happiness of those she cares about, even if it means compromising her own well-being.

Despite all of this, Nina is a genuinely kind person who wants nothing more than to make others happy. Her workaholic tendencies and dedication to productivity come from a desire to keep her mind occupied and ignore her problems. She's deeply conflicted, and her self-hatred often leads her to make choices that aren't in her best interest.

If you can’t tell by now, Nina is an insecure person. But she’s also quite envious of others. She gets jealous of other people’s happiness, then immediately hates herself for feeling that way. Despite not trusting people in general and believing she isn’t worthy of anything good; Nina still seeks the approval and praise of other people. She bases her entire self-worth on how helpful she is to the people around her. She’s given up on being happy with herself. So, she decided to dedicate her entire being to making other people happier, hoping to find her own contentment in the joy of others. Nina is someone who is both deeply selfless and deeply selfish. She wants to be trusted, but refuses to trust others. She thinks she’s undeserving of love, yet seeks people’s praise. In Nina’s head, this makes her selfish. But it just makes her a hypocrite.

likes

Plantlife, deer, and forests; Nina has always dreamt of a life in the woods. Nina also has a deep appreciation for art and artists, despite not being one herself, she likes to admire the talent and passion that others put into their practice. It is an admirable thing. Nina has always been fascinated by the lost society of Erenthalas, she deeply mourns the loss of such a beautiful sounding civilization. Nina likes bright warm colors like yellow and orange, she finds them comforting. Pink is also another color she enjoys. Nina liked jewelry and fashion, she liked to sit with the older women in her community who taught her how to make jewelry with beads and crystals. Nina likes ponds and lakes and the ducks and birds that swim in them, anywhere where she can listen to the sounds of rustling grass and running water are her favorite. She enjoyed stomping in creeks and catching salamanders under the rocks with her friends when they were children. Nina desires to help people and she enjoys studying. Nina loves the things that remind her of when she was a child. When things were simple. Nina likes a lot of things, and they are all very kind.

dislikes

Despite loving the sounds of rain, Nina was afraid of thunder and storms in general. Even though she’s grown out of the fear for the most part, she still dislikes them at her age. Nina dislikes change. Nina dislikes mud and people who litter or throw out unfinished food. Nina dislikes hot days or feeling stuffy, she had a very bad fever once and feeling hot reminds her of it. Nina doesn't like people who pry at her. She has a deep disliking for crickets. Nina doesn’t like being left alone.

fears

Nina is afraid of being alone, the sole thing that motivates her are her connections to people. Nina’s also afraid of being with people. She’s afraid of showing her true feelings to anyone around her in fear of rejection. Nina has been hurt by people before and she is terrified of her happening again. But she doesn’t know how not to hurt or how to heal, so she wounds herself.

reputation

Nina isn’t well known to the average civilian. But people do know of her in certain places. Many people who escaped the cleansing owe their lives to her. A good portion of the military are familiar with Nina as a co worker. She’s known for being a genuinely sweet person, who still manages to be effective at her job.

03.

history

Nina was born in Milldrift to a relatively mundane family. Her father often worked for extended periods, leaving his family for weeks at a time. Nina was left with her mother, her older sister, and her twin brother. Nina’s mother was – in simple terms – a bad person and an even worse mother. She was a bitter woman who gave up her dreams for a comfortable life and resented the world for it. That resentment and bitterness was taken out on her children, Nina mostly. Nina resembled her mother the most, and she constantly tried to attain love from her. That enraged her mother. To her, Nina was a pest that refused to leave her alone. Her other children at least knew well enough to avoid her.

Nina’s mother has a serious case of β€œBoy mom” and deeply favored her son, Markus Lee, over her other two daughters. Markus Lee preferred being with his sister over his mother though. Which further built resentment on her mother’s part. It didn’t help that her father also favored Nina. Mostly because their older sister, Natasha, was rarely home when their dad was (or in general) and Markus Lee was extremely introverted compared to his overly sweet sister.

Nina spent most of her childhood walking on eggshells. Her mother would constantly observe her, searching for any excuse to punish her. Nina’s mother never outright hurt her; but Nina would often go without food, or she’d be locked in a closet or have her hair forcibly cut off when she misbehaved. Her life continued like this until she was twelve. She and her brother discovered that they had an aptitude for magic that warranted their family being moved to the Isle of Magi.

From there, a shift took place in Nina’s life. She was able to spend less time at home with her mother, and more time studying and training with her brother. Nina showed a talent with Jinx Magic that concerned the mind. Her brother, in the meantime, said he was going to train in tempest magic. And that he was going to join the military. Nina followed him. She was going to learn some kind of magic that concerned nature, but the factors of her brother and the fact that she was better at mind magic made her decide otherwise.

Nina excelled in her training and once she was older enough, she would be deployed in missions with her body. Usually she would pose as a bodyguard to some kind of diplomat or government leader and Nina would use her powers to tell the client what the other person was thinking, or if they were lying or not. Her brother was included as an actual bodyguard.

Things were going very well in Nina’s career and she was actually content with her life. Then the world started falling apart. After the assassination of the king of Casmir, Nina was sent to Casmir with her brother to aid in the transitional period between rulers. Very quickly it was made apparent to Nina and her brother that things would not be getting better in the region. That bad feeling reach its full fruition when she cleansing began merely months after they were stationed there. The siblings aided many during the escapes to the refugee camps, escorting the citizens outside the cities and going back for more. Markus Lee was killed in the conflict and Nina was incapacitated, she was carried out by the citizens she was aiding and woke up in the camp.

Nina refused to allow herself her grief, she immediately threw herself into aiding people however she could, this group of hers is her attempt at distracting herself from the fact that the only person who loved her is dead. Nina refused to acknowledge he’s dead. She hasn’t even told the rest of the family. She ignores letters from them, from the military, questions from refugees. All of it. She will not say that she lost him, because that would make it real.

miscellaneous

Main Skills

Persuasion and Lying: Nina keeps her little gang out of trouble by making sure she can (usually) talk her way out of trouble when it comes finding them. She’s got a vibe about her that’s comforting, and almost nostalgic. People tend to at least try and hear her out. Plus, the fact that she is extremely un-intimidating makes people less on guard around her.

Jinx Mind Mage; Nina is a former soldier, expertly trained in mind magic. She has basic military combat training, but her main job was to use her powers to benefit her superiors. Usually she would be taken into meetings with diplomats to ensure that all parties were being truthful with their agreements and make sure ulterior motives were left unnoticed. She was also brought to many interrogations for the same reason. Nina has to do a ritual to be able to use her Clairvoyant abilities, but she can get glimpses of the future or the past from these practices.

Other Skills

Linguist: Nina is fluent in around four languages, including sign language. This obviously makes communication leagues easier.

Weaponry Familiarity: Nina is familiar with using most types of weapons. She isn’t a master at any of them, but she is very capable of defending herself.

Preemptive fighter: Nina knows how to make an array of traps and she can make them relatively quickly. She knows that she isn’t the most proficient with weapons, the strongest, or the most durable. So she has to make up for this with precautions like traps or poisons.

Emotionally durable(or delusional): Nina doesn’t allow bad things to make her feel as if she has to give up. She will always try to find hope. If that means lying to herself a bit then like… oh well, boohoo, she’s a pretty girl she can be a little unhinged sometimes. It’s fine.

Escapee: Nina is a smaller target than most, and she issues this to its fullest by combining her speed and agility to make her excellent at dodging and avoiding injury. She knows when to abandon an impossible fight, and she’s good at it.

Connections: Nina’s been around, she’s met and gained the favor of many people and has been part of many factions, people know her, many like her. She’s gained a fair amount of respect from the world and maybe those connections will be helpful on this journey.

Why would they join the party?

Nina formed the group out of a need to distract herself from her own issues. She needed people to give her a reason to keep going. They’re basically a coping mechanism. But yk, it’s fineee.

Biggest Secrets

Her brother’s death is something she refuses to speak about. She says they simply got separated after they escaped the cleansing but she’s lying straight through her teeth.

Nina being a Mind mage is also kind of a secret. She isn’t exactly upfront with her powers. She tells the group that she can use magic to see into the future or past, but that’s all they know of her. She does not look into their mind, it would be violating. And she doesn’t want them to worry that she would.

Gender: River (all pronouns)
Sexuality: Pansexual Panromantic
Species: Human. Probably. (Vampire)
Role: The Prophet

π“π–•π–•π–Šπ–†π–—π–†π–“π–ˆπ–Š
General Overview:
Strange and disconcerting, River takes a strikingly androgynous figure. A fan of the loud and obnoxious, they have a very flamboyant dress sense. This is paired with adorning themselves with silver and with makeup. Dark hair, and marshy eyes with little raccoon circles underneath them directly contrast some very pale skin. They also have slightly pronounced canines. Generally a rather wobbly fellow, and most definitely mad and incredibly drunk at all times.

Body Modifications:
Their ears are pierced, and they actually have some tattoos

Clothing:
Generally dark and androgynous, River takes a lot of different inspirations to create a truly loud and flamboyant style that draws heads wherever they go. Carefully color coordinated and utilizing different textures, they put a lot of effort into their appearance and aesthetic, and generally they will sew their own clothing.

π“Ÿπ–Šπ–—π–˜π–”π–“π–†π–‘π–Žπ–™π–ž
Overview
Confusing is a word. Blessed with the power of prophecy, River is... well. River is quite strange. Cursed with the inability to actually voice any of their prophecies, most of their speech comes in a strange manner with about 5 different layers of metaphor sprinkled atop. Honest and well-meaning, their strange behavior is a cover for a genuine perceptive wisdom which peppers their speech.

River, chiefly, is absolutely dedicated to being themself. Unwilling to change to suit the needs of those around them, their strangeness is the way that they fade into the background. After all, the mad tend to get ignored and pushed aside. However, this veil of insanity obscures an ancient wisdom, a sharp perceptiveness, and a general penchant for dramatic flair that runs throughout River's entire being.

Likes:
River likes glittery jewelry and pretty dresses. River also likes swords and blades. They have a love for the arts, including the craft of blacksmithing and dancing alike. They study culture and human behavior, and enjoy reading books and literature. They value individuality and self-expression.

Dislikes:
River isn't the biggest fan of violence and war. Nor do they generally like those in power. They hate imperialism and also conformity.

Fears:
Not really? Mostly people are afraid of them instead.

π“π–‡π–Žπ–‘π–Žπ–™π–Žπ–Šπ–˜
Main Skills:
River is practically immortal. They are weakened by the sun and must drink blood to survive, but otherwise are rather strong, rather fast, and incredibly endurant. They can also see the future. All of the futures. All at once. This is offset by their complete inability to outright say anything - sometimes simple commands like "duck" require three different metaphors and five sentences which makes the ability... impractical to say the least.

Secondary Skills:
They believe, at least, that they can talk to snakes. Whether or not they can actually talk to snakes is... debatable. They're actually very adept at navigation and utilizing the stars in order to navigate the world around them, and are quite perceptive when it comes to the subtle hints that nature give to survive.

Other Skills:
They can sew.

Weapons Used:
They carry knives that they will use to throw at people. Also they carry really shiny rocks that they use to throw at people they deem have bad vibes. And sage and little herbs that they carry around to similarly ward off bad juju.

π“Ÿπ–†π–˜π–™
A long time ago, much longer than anyone could possibly remember, a person was kidnapped from their home, tied down and sacrificed in a blood ritual of kings for great power to be unleashed. This did not end with the creation of a god-king, as they had hoped, and instead cursed the victim to a new kind of disease: vampirism.

River has utilized their immortality to live many different lives. Sometimes, as an entertainer. Sometimes, as a boogeyman in the woods. Sometimes, a nightmare that parents would tell their children at night to get them to go to bed on time. River has whispered into the ears of kings, and manipulated entire kingdoms. They are an absolutely ancient force to be reckoned with, and have similarly seen entire civilizations rise and fall.

Some, those who are uniquely perceptive to the sightings of a virtually immortal being, have claimed that River is a god, a capricious one here to both smite and bless those that they come across. As such, a cult as formed around them. A secret cult whose practices are closed to those that are not initiated.

Not the biggest fan of organized religion and the idea of leading people to a preordained conclusion, River has chosen to not interact with them very much. Every decade or so they'll appear before their flock and proclaim some prophecy as they figure that some guidance for all that energy every now and then is necessary to keep things safe and controlled, only to fuck off once more.

The rest of the time, though, they wander the world. Anonymous, mad, and wise.

π•Ίπ–™π–π–Šπ–—
Reputation:
There is a small sect of people that have formed a secret cult around River. There, they are revered as a god. River, an individualist with a lot of thought towards people that try to manipulate others for their benefit, hates the cult. The cult has decided that River telling them to stop worshiping him was just a test of faith and have continued to do so. River has learned to just take a deep breath and accept that they exist. It's fine.

River outside of the cult is just viewed as an insane person.

Why Will They Join the Party?
They can see the future. They know that this is going to be interesting and they WANT IN.

Biggest Secrets:
River doesn't actually obfuscate anything that they do purposefully. Instead, they just let their curse do the talking for them. They are being legitimate when they claim that they are ancient and powerful and can see the future, but most people don't believe them. And, to be honest, rightfully so.

Extra:
- Throws rocks at people, claims that they're magical crystals to ward off bad vibes. They're rocks.
- Claims to talk to snakes. They have been bitten by many snakes.
- Eats dirt regularly. Claims that the universe told them to. That is debatable.
- Bites themselves when they get itchy
- Crunches on bananas with the peel still on as a power move
- Doesn't lie

At a very young age, Mal was taught how to be responsible for all his actions and their consequences. It was tough but it was ingrained in him that it is never an excuse to fail if you do not know something. With that in mind, he grew up a curious lad.

He is also a resourceful and competent young man. He's quick on his feet and is not afraid to make certain adjustments as he goes along. He is well traveled and meeting random people along the way has helped him develop a good sense of intuition about others. He knows how to acclimate and position himself around people. He's also quite handy with fixing things and is a quick learner when it comes to his trade.

He can be sarcastic and might say something stupid whenever things are getting serious. It got him into trouble more times than he can count but he has a certain charm to get him out of one. He is innately curious and would ask nonstop about things and how they work. Although he is well read and has a good relationship with books, he prefers visual or practical approach rather than theoretical.

He may act like an insensitive buffoon at times, but he is observant and knows when to act seriously - although there are times that he will deflect and act indifferently. He knows how to care for someone deeply and can see the world in another one's point of view. Most of the time he'll put the needs of others above his own. Even if it meant to sacrifice his life, so be it. He's loyal to a fault and would help a friend in need.

Mal tends to enjoy the simplest things and being on the road taught him how not to be picky with his situation. He just got to face the cards that were dealt to him. He is laid back, cheerful, and enthusiastic about life.

He can be obstinate at times. He doesn't know when to give up. It can be a good thing, but it can also be his undoing, for it can easily turn into an obsession. The pull of completing the task is too compelling that withdrawing, even if it is a must, is somehow hard for him. Once he sets his mind on things, he will not stop until he gets the result he wants or the feeling of satisfaction that he needs.

Mal can be quite direct, if someone asks for honesty, he does not believe that sugarcoating them would lessen the blow. Even if it means getting punched in the face.

He has this notion that he can listen to other people's problems but when it comes to his issue, it's his and his alone to carry. He's the type of guy who can advise someone but when it comes to his problem, he's the only one who can deal with it no matter how overwhelming it is. He has a hard time opening up to someone. If repressing emotion and faking everything is a talent, then he's good at it. He'll never admit or he's still in denial, but he thinks that showing emotions or revealing oneself is a weakness as what his father taught him.

VISAGE

β‹„ appearance and clothingβ‹„
Sporting a perpetually messy blond hair and a shrewd look on his piercing blue eyes, some might deem Mal as a troublemaker. The hair and eyes came from his mother but without her usual calmness and softness. He has an athletic figure. His body, muscular but not too bulky, hardened through years of weapons, combat training, and travelling. Mal has a slightly crooked nose but deeply compliments his angular face and sharp jawline. He stands in 6 feet and weighs proportionately with his height.

Armor, proper garments based on weather, and hard leather boots. Those are Mal's prerequisite when it comes to his clothing. Some might find them a little too constricting (and heavy) but when it comes to safety and able to protect oneself, it gets the job done.

HISTORY

Mal was born in Fort Powell to a high-ranking military official of the King's army and his mistress. His birth caused such a scandal that his birth mother was banished from Fort Powell to who knows where. His father acknowledged him to his now stepmother's dismay. He sees him as a blessing for in 30 years of his marriage, all his children were girls. It’s about time for him to have someone carry out the family name. Even if it’s a bastard.

Influential and came from a wealthy family of merchants, his stepmother paid and threatened everyone who knew about Mal and his real mother to lessen the embarrassment.
It was a trying relationship between his stepmother and Mal, but they have no choice.

It was because of his stature that Mal had to push himself and work hard. He had to show his parents that he's worthy of the family name. Or whatever it represents.

Despite being cold and someone who can really show favoritism, she still raised Mal and taught him how to be proper. They provided him with teachers and anything he needs but at any given opportunity, she makes him feel unwanted.

That's why when her blacksmith uncle came to town, she sent Mal who just turned 10 years old for an apprenticeship. It was against his father’s wishes, but the woman was adamant. Her Uncle Lachlan was a little quirky but harmless, extremely talented man, and apparently in need of a new apprentice. Lachlan is picky with the material he uses. He handpicks everything he needs to use in making a weapon or armor even if that means travelling to different towns just to get his desired material. The stepmother took advantage of this and started with her plan. Mal left Fort Powell without saying goodbye to his father and sisters.

He accompanied the blacksmith from town after town with no complaint. From Ravensborne to Cal'kura then Oldgrove to Isle of Mage, then back to Camsir where Lachlan’s shop is. The blacksmith towed little Mal with him wherever he went. He even grew fond of the boy and in return for his obedience, he taught him things. Such as what plants are good for a headache, how to hunt and skin a deer, how to fight using nothing with his fist and at last, how to wield the weapons they're making. He taught him things that are vital to their survival. He even taught him how to mine the metal they need in Dimdenn when they visited the town. The blacksmith told Mal that mining the metal with his own hands is much more fulfilling once he turned it into a weapon, but he knew the old man was just too stingy to hire someone else for labor. Either way, he may not be that skilled, but he learned some things from it. When he was old enough to attend the College of Camsir, Lachlan wrote to his niece and informed her that the young man will be going to school. It was then approved by his father. His travelling became less but he still work his bones in Lachlan's shop. Practicing and taking care of the business.

In the end, Lachlan was more of a parent to him than his actual birth father. He may be a little bit crazy, but Mal loved the old man and his peculiar way.

Lachlan was one of the casualties when the great cleanse of Camsir happened. He died protecting people who were targeted by the army. He may be a great swordsman, but he is now old. He managed to kill some soldiers, but he got overwhelmed. Mal was fighting his own battles when he saw his guardian murdered. With Lachlan’s dying breath he handed him the sword he forged for Mal and made him promise that he will be a good man. The old man died way before he could answer but as he closes Lachlan’s eye, he promises he will avenge his death and make all the people responsible pay for what they did.

MISCELLANEOUS

Their customers in Camsir knew Mal as a very responsible and hardworking individual. He's courteous and a cheerful lad. They knew who to ask just incase if Old Lachlan is not around to fix something. He's very reliable and quick to do his task. A great kid some might say but if the local girls were asked, he's got quite a reputation of flirting with one girl from another week after week.

life may not be fair but that doesn't mean i can't be

WIP but the basics are here
Basics:
Full Name - Moss Jaxenrow
Nickname(s) - currently none
Age - 22
Gender - non-binary (he/they)
Sexuality - queer
Species - elf
Role - Mage, former Royal Mage Advisor to the King of Vallonde

Appearance:
General Overview - Moss has a tall, thin figure that he hides behind long coats, cloaks with hoods, and flashy accessories. Try as he might to blend into the background of whatever situation he is in, he holds himself with an aura that makes anyone notice him, if only slightly. While not particularly strong, they are athletic enough to run when needed, and while their style is expensive, it is not restrictive. Their hairstyle changes depending on their mood, and can range anywhere from a short buzzcut to longer braids arranged in an intricate design. At the time of the Cleansing, his hair is very short, and styled in twists.
Body Modifications - From the elbow onwards, their right foream is gone. What remains of his arm is wrapped in bandages which have only recently stopped bleeding - while it may not be clear how it happened, it's easy to figure out when it happened.

Personality:
Overview - A child at heart, with the experience of an adult who has played a prominent role in the government of Camsir. His training at the university scultped him to be diplomatic, and working for the now-dead King of Camsir gave him adept experience in how to be professional and assertive while remaining non-threatening. His business-like attitude is draped over him in a similar fashion to his cloak, and allows him to placate and be tolerated, if not liked, by everyone at court. While most might underestimate his ability in favour of his young age, the knowledge he holds, both in magic as well as how to do politics, aids his lack of real-world experience.
Outside the court, and among the few he is close with, Moss has a child-like interest in the world, and the beauty within it. They could spend hours staring at flowers, or watching firelight reflected in muddy puddles on the ground. He supposes that most of this interest comes from the Tempest magic he has learned, as he sometimes feels the energy of the world thrumming through his body. As such, they will often take long walks through the gardens and streets of Camsir while "thinking" about problems at court. Easily distracted, he sometimes misses out on conversations while staring at the intricate details of whatever is around him. He does not get so enthralled as to completely shut out the world around him, but there are a few situations he has barely crawled himself out of due to not fully paying attention.
Likes - Flowers, history and art, nature (whether riding out in the forest, or walking through the city gardens)
Dislikes - Mushrooms, arrogant people, storms
Fears - being restrained, especially against his will. Being ostracized, whether physically or socially. For all they flaunt about independence they do care about the people around them, and want to be cared for.

Abilities:
Main skills
1) Tempest magic user, specialized in elemental magic but has some ability in metaphysical magic.
2) Political experience, knows how the "game" of diplomacy is played, is able to see through immediate actions towards their distant conclusion in the long term.
Secondary skills
1) studied Evergreen magic (specializing in destruction) before switching to Tempest magic, unclear how much he learned before the switch, or if he ever truly stopped studying.
2) well-traveled, knowing many languages as a result.
3) creative and resilient, will go out of his way to solve issues as they come up (the current issue right now being the loss of his arm; other issues being ones that he is, less inclined to make public knowledge).
Other skills
1) has an extensive mushroom knowledge. A strangley detailed extensive mushroom knowledge.
2) knows how to fight with a sword, incase a situation would occur where he couldn't use his magic or words (lucky for him, the arm he still has is his sword arm. He might have been luckier had he had a sword during the cleansing, but that's another issue).
3) there is a hidden "switch" that changes Moss's demeanor from non-threatening advisor to terrifying mage. It might have something to do with the way his eyes glow a fiery orange when dipping deep into his magic, or the threats of harm (physical and political) which are said confidently enough to perhaps be true.
Weapon used - sword, not that he has one on hand at the moment

Past:
Moss was moved with his family to the isle of Magi at 12. His life before that is a blur which brings him comfort, as he remembers running through the forest between Milldrift and Oldgrove, only coming home for his chores and mother's homemade pies. His life after that is a similar blur of school, the forests replaced with classrooms and libraries, and the childhood freedom replaced with knowledge and practice of magic. It captivated him however, and he dove headfirst into the knowledge, eventually specializing in Tempest magic. He graduated at the top of his class, and while he was pushed towards the military, he had no interest in it. Instead, he looked towards the royal courts, and his knowledge and ability propelled him to his position as Magic Advisor to King Richard Moreau of Vallonde. And while his job was not easy (the Camsir Riots already in full swing), and it felt like Moss was the only one in the whole court who cared for the people outside the castle walls, life was good.
And then life wasn't good. From the moment the Seadanes took over, Moss considered that perhaps it was time for him to find a new stream of employment. The murder (for that's what it was) of King Moreau solidified this thought, and Moss stepped back from his role as advisor, disappearing without anyone from court immediately noticing. He didn't leave Camsir, that would have been too smart. He cared enough for the city to try and help, however he could. But when the cleansing happened, he realised his life in Camsir was truly over. Mostly because they were coming to kill him for the crime of not supporting a usurper.
He tried to sneak out, tried not to be noticed. But he was a recognizable figure to anyone at court, and rendering a few guards incapable of murdering innocents unfortunately makes you a target. Backed into a corner, Moss lost his arm. But he kept his life, and managed to escape out to the refugee camp without anyone else noticing him. Not even the medic called Faeryn, until he showed up at her side still heavily bleeding from what used to be his forearm.

Other:
Reputation - well-known at court, not incredibly well-known outside of it, but there are still some who recognize him being an advisor, even if they don't know his name.
Why will they join the party - a) passed out next to Ryn, wasn't dead when they woke up so they figured she was safe to hang around with. b) They see that the party is trying to help people, which is what he wants to do.
Biggest secret (will add a second, this is the main one)
Tempests are not allowed to murder, and are hunted by the university for doing so. Specifically "murder without reason", but Moss doesn't think that the Seadanes care for his reason. Plus, even if killing the two guards that were trying to kill him could be counted as self defense, they weren't the only casualties. The shock of losing his arm, seeing magic fizzle out from fingertips no longer connected to his body - he lost control of his magic, and a shockwave of fire turned the body of every guard in a two block radius into ash. Moss didn't check to see if any innocents had been burned in that wave as he ran, pulling his magic back in control as he fled through the hole in the wall out of the city. Moss also left his crimes out of his story to anyone who asked, although it constantly spun in the back of his mind. The longer he traveled with the party, the more Moss thought he should tell them, should let them know that the university was surely on his tail, might murder them all for the crimes he had committed - but he couldn't. He would have to leave if that was the case, and he didn't want to leave the group he had found. Not right when he had started to do good. So he pushes it down, and waits for the consequences of his actions to arrive.
