Main Export(s): luxury goods, artisan foods, clothing, medicine, fishing
Camsir is the capitol city of Vallonde and the most densely populated of all the settlements. Before the recent days, Camsir was a beacon of luxury, prosperity, and wellbeing. Those who lived within the capitol worked in creating luxuries and artisan foods, drinks, and items. The College of Camsir was used to train non-magic scholars and skilled workers. Camsir is also home to the Palace of the Greats, the home to the royal family and the governing bodies of Vallonde.
Once a prosperous city, war and infighting in Vallonde led to the cityโs great collapse. Poverty ran rampant, many people lost their jobs, the richer got powerful and more cruel. The economic divide grew and eventually, war broke out within Camsir, many wealthy families fighting for the crown and control of the city. After the walls of the city fell, the fighting killed many, forcing even more to flee to the nearby mining town of Dimdenn or north to the refugee camp established by the community of Ravensbourne.

The next largest city, and known rival, to Camsir, Ravensbourne is a private and secluded city. Located in the snowy lower mountains of the Vanara Range, the people of Ravensbourne are hearty and strong, having to withstand the ice and snow and cold. Sworn enemies to Camsir after the government began stripping businesses from small towns and abusing its people, Ravensbourne has walled itself off and become largely self-sufficient, purchasing or trading for whatever they canโt get themselves from the smaller settlements.
After Camsirโs walls fell, Ravensbourne opened up a refugee camp and allowed many of Camsirโs people to live temporarily inside the city bounds. There are rumours that Ravensbourne plans to overthrow Camsir's corrupt government. There are also rumours that Ravensbourne is home to an official resistance.

Milldrift is responsible for feeding the majority of Vallonde with their specially grown crops, carefully raised livestock, and food harvested and hunted from the forests and nearby Lake Lucien. Expeditions can be seen heading south to the Sea of Althea for long fishing excursions that are often dangerous and sometimes even fatal. Without Milldrift, the country would starve.

Besides the capitol, Fort Powell is considered to be the safest place in Vallonde to live.
Fort Powell is heavily walled, protecting the soldiers and their families that live within. Many civilians that live in Fort Powell employ jobs that help the military. With food and essential goods imported, the civilians often work as gunsmiths, weapon masters, scholars, shipwrights, and medics.

Erenthalas was once a bustling and artistic city, known for fostering a love of nature and art. A peaceful people, the town was raided over one thousand years ago after they refused to participate in a civil dispute. Many of the citizens were killed, arrested, and displaced in an event known as the Erradication of Erenthalas. Shortly after the raid, the forest seemed to swallow the town whole. The thick trees are impenetrable, the creatures of the forest violent and killing on sight. Those lucky enough to have entered the forest and made it out found no traces of life but describe it as hell on earth. There are rumours that the town of Erenthalas still exist, concealed deep within the trees by powerful and ancient magic thought to be harnessed by the elves of the deep forest. Of course, these are just rumours and an excellent source of horror for children's bedtime stories, nothing more.
King Richard Moreau (deceased) - Previous King of Vallonde
The previous leader of Camsir and, as such, the entirety of Vallonde. The eighth king in the line of the Moreaus, he was assassinated along with his wife and five of his six children. The eldest of his children, Princess Everleigh Moreau, was thought to have escaped. A fair and cautious leader, King Moreau was considered too passive by many. He was murdered by King Alexander Seadane.
King Alexander Seadane (alive) - King of Vallonde
Of the great and prosperous Seadane family. The Seadanes were long-time opposition of the Moreau royal line and were the leaders behind the Siege of Camsir. After Alexander murdered King Moreau, he took the throne himself. Alexander is considered to be the most vicious and cruel leader that Vallonde has ever seen. He was previously the Viscount of Ravensbourne.
Grand Mage Xantha Sephiran (alive) - Leader of the University of Mag
The long-time leader of the University of Mag. Regarded as one of the strongest mages of all time, Xantha is old as far as time can tell but far from withered. No one really knows how old she is, or where she's learned all the magic that she has. Regardless, no one questions her or her abilities, nor her kind heart that has kept the university strong and prosperous through the years.
Joella Dufelon (alive) - Mayoress of Dimdenn
A tough and brave woman, and an ex-military captain, Joella Dufelon was named honourary mayor by the citizens of Dimdenn after the war broke out. Her courageous efforts to hide the children, elderly, and injured of Vallonde in the mines of Dimdenn during the earliest days of the war made her the only viable candidate to protect the city thereon in. Joella resigned from the military and now lives in Dimdenn. She is the wife to the Mayoress of Milldrift.
Vehdea Dufelon (alive) - Mayoress of Milldrift
The softer and wiser counterpart to her wife Joella, Vehdea is the Mayoress of Milldrift. With a careful mind and attention to detail, Vehdea's family has kept Milldrift running smoothly for years. Vehdea took her mother's place as the mayoress after she passed away over a decade ago, as Milldrift has been passed down through her maternal line for many years. She is the wife to the Mayoress of Dimdenn and the niece to the Mayor of Oldgrove.
Sir Ellis Pouivau (alive) - Mayor of Oldgrove
An angry and cynical old man, Sir Ellis Pouivau is the Mayor of Oldgrove and an ex-knight of the line of Moreau. Having spent his formative years in the grand palaces of Camsir alongside the royals as one of the top knights, his life of fame and glory quickly came to an end when he was involved in a tragic accident in his fifties. The old codger got too drunk off of the king's free mead and tried to fistfight an ogre. Not smart. The other knights found him barely alive, the ogre chewing on his leg like it was a turkey leg. They rescued the old man and as thanks for his years of service, he was given the title of Mayor to the tired forest and agriculture town of Oldgrove. He does the bare minimum, ignores the war, pledges full allegiance to the now deceased line of Moreau. The residents are happy. Life is good. He is also the uncle to the Mayoress of Milldrift.
Basim Ourobosar (alive) - Viscount of Ravensbourne
The youngest leader of Vallonde, Basim took over after an election dethroned King Alexander Seadane after the Seadanes attacked Camsir. It is Basim's hard work that set up the refugee camp, alongside his wife, that closed off Ravensbourne to the rest of Vallonde. It is rumoured that Basim runs an underground resistance but this has never been proven.
Yasmin Ourobosar (alive) - Wife of the Viscount of Ravensbourne
A tough yet kind woman, Yasmin is known the be incredibly influential. The beloved wife to the Viscount of Ravensbourne, Yasmin worked for years as a doctor, though she grew up as a noble who had no need to work. After the war broke out, Yasmin and her husband, Basim, were the driving force towards peace and helping refugees. Yasmin currently lives in the refugee camp that she set up with the help of Basim, alongside Basim's older sister. She is a talented mage that studied Tranquility magic at the University of Mag.
Kit Riverbane (alive) - Second-in-Command to Viscount Basim
The Riverbanes have been around in Ravensbourne since its founding. Although never the type to lead, the Riverbanes have been advisers to the leaders of the city for hundreds of years. Kit was already the second to the viscount before Basim was elected. His years of wisdom kept him in the position when the power shifted. He is a trusted politician and can often be found with Basim or alongside his wife, Captain Skadne Ourobosar-Riverbane.
Captain Skadne Ourobosar-Riverbane - Leader of the Ravensbourne Militia
The older sister to Basim and wife to Kit, Skadne was always the kind of person that people expected to fail. Soft of heart, gentle of nature, it was a surprise to everyone when it was Skadne that chose to go to the military and not the far more confident Basim. While Basim became the Viscount, Skadne worked her way up over the years to eventually become Captain of the Ravensbourne Militia. Make no mistake, her kindness and sweet disposition takes second to her incredible combat abilities. She is close friends with Yasmin and lives at the refugee camp, assisting her with the camp by providing security and running missions as needed.
Aiela Doefaryen - unknown
Aiela is an outsider, someone that has been warned against. No one knows where she comes from, or where she disappears to. The forest seems to listen to her, animals following her command, plants bending to her will. She is a known ally to Ravensbourne. There are rumours that she knows of Erenthalas, perhaps even the leader of the place, but it is unknown if this is true or not.
Regarded as the worst natural disaster in modern Vallonde's history, more than 33% of Vallonde burned, northeast of the Vanara Range. Isolated by the great mountains that stood between Cal'Kura and the rest of Vallonde, no help came as flames engulfed the land. Less than one hundred people managed to escape through the mountains to Vallonde, all traders that were already in the process of attempting the yearly trade journey.
No one has travelled into Cal'Kura, the weather in the Vanara mountains making it impossible. The original expeditions found the land scorched and entirely absent of life.
Erenthalas has always been considered a place of mystery and wonder. Always a closed off people, they were forever peaceful and lovers of arts and philosophy. Although they posed no real threat to anyone, and were largely left alone, it was a group of rebels that finally did them in. After a civil in the nearby capitol city of Camsir over the misuse of power of the royal family, a group of rebels turned to Erenthalas to gain support for their dying cause. When Erenthalas refused, the rebels attacked and burned the city to the ground, murdering many of the citizens. Many more were arrested by the official authorities on incorrect charges of aiding rebels.
Shortly after the attack, and the final push of the remaining citizens of Erenthalas to rid their city of the rebels, the forest seemed to swallow the city. No one has been able to enter or exit the forest, and subsequently the city, since. There is a national day of mourning on the first day of winter for this event every year since the attack and is considered a great tragedy.
The country of Vallonde hit a state of economic crash after many of the internal structures of Camsir fell. The rich seemed to be getting richer, the poor seemed to be getting poorer. A draught left much of Vallonde hungry, over-fishing and hunting led to a lot of issues with the local flora and fauna. A shortage of skilled workers, including healers, left many people homeless, in disrepair, and dying of preventable diseases. To bring in more money, many major businesses were moved from the smaller towns and into Camsir. This improved the overall economy but left the smaller towns struggling.
The Camsir Riots came at the end of the Age of Twilight, citizens finally having enough. The poor wanted better treatment, the rich wanted the poor expelled from the city.
The riots themselves lasted many years, more and more groups popping up to voice their concerns and make more demands of the royal family. Very few of these needs were met. The riots only ceased when the House of Seadane, a highly influential noble family from Camsir, created a political party to oppose the royal family and โspeak for the peopleโ. They gained massive amounts of following and popularity very quickly.
Nobody expected the Seadanes to murder King Moreau. With mass support from the public, the Seadanes called for an official election, in which they won and successfully dethroned King Moreau. As their first act in office, King Moreau was publicly executed for 'crimes against the people'. This was a highly controversial move. King Moreau's family were moved to a quarters within the city, promised to be taken care of by the Seadanes.
Camsir had been tense since the Seadanes took over. Their honeyed words and empty promises became apparent very quickly. Anger began to spread at the murder of King Moreau, the economics got no better. Arrests were common for those who refused to bow to the freshly appointed King Alexander Seadane, businesses that held loyalty to King Moreau or his surviving family were shut down, the owners forced from the city. It was decided that Camsir needed to be cleansed.
The army came at dusk through a large, blown up hole in the once sturdy walls of Camsir. Businesses were broken into, homes ransacked, citizens killed in the streets. Anyone that didn't immediately comply with the military were arrested or executed, including the remaining family of King Moreau. The citizens that could flee fled through the hole in the wall, seeking refuge in the nearby mining community of Dimdenn or in the refugee camp that had been set up by Ravensborne after King Moreau was executed.
There are seven types of magic known in Vallonde: Natural, Common, Tranquility, Evergreen, Tempest, Jinx , and Twilight. The University of Mag recognizes these six types as the only official types of magic in Vallonde, though they also understand that there are many different kinds of ancient, natural, and species specific magic that cannot be harnessed.
Natural This magic is present everywhere in everything. The sense of deja vu, the presence of luck, miracles, the changing of seasons, and fate are all considered natural magic. Although many have tried, natural magic cannot and have never been harnessed. It has been determined by many great scholars that natural magic cannot be controlled.
Common Common magic is the type of magic that everyone can use. Although magic ability ranges from person to person, common magic cannot be trained and occurs naturally. A bakerโs ability to never burn bread, a gunsmanโs precise aim, a farmerโs strength, a motherโs intuition are all considered common magic. Common magic is not measurable or notable and is often considered as natural aptitude.
Tranquility Magic
White Magic is the most common type of trainable magic. The doctors, nurses, medics, medicine makers, and scholars are all tranquility mages due to the broad scope of the field. Mages that study tranquility magic study the art of healing, protection, and restoration. These mages, often called Tranquils, develop skills in all the fields but often specialize in one of the following:
- Healing (repairing of injuries, understanding of sickness, boosting vitality; often work as doctors, nurses, field medics, or medicine makers)
- Protection (understanding and using wards, enchantments, and sigils to protect people, locations, and items; strictly non-combat, often work with the military to protect camps, towns, and cities, with blacksmiths to protect weapons, or with nobles as security)
- Restoration (restoring physical damage to items and places, protecting ancient texts and items; often exclusively work as scholars or as adventurers)
Evergreen Magic
Evergreen Magic is the second most common type of magic. Evergreens study nature and transformation magic. This type of magic is most commonly used by those who have a love of nature and the natural world around them. Evergreens often become herbalists, florists/landscapers, and animal caretakers. Evergreen mages specialize in one of the following:
- Animals (weaning, animal healing, training, taming; often work with farmers to help livestock, with adventurers to keep them safe from the wildlife, or with the military)
- Earth (raising plants, conjuring plants, innate knowledge of nature and the earth; often work as scholars, medicine makers, landscapers, and herbalists)
-Destruction (transformation into animals, manipulation of plants as weapons or protection; work exclusively with the military)
Tempest Magic
Tempest mages are the most popular and sought after of the magic fields due to the highly athletic and employable nature of the field. Tempest mages are more akin to specialized soldiers, unique in the sense that they are forever employed by the military. Many high ranking officials in the Vallonde military are Tempests. The rules around becoming and staying a Tempest are highly strict due to their destructive and fatal nature. Tempests specialize in one of the following:
- Physical (conjuring weapons, destructive spells that target the physical being, or manipulation of physical abilities to increase personal or other individualโs performance, or a combination based on personal ability)
- Elemental (manipulation of fire, earth, or water elements)
- Metaphysical (use of mind-altering magic, sense manipulating magic, telepathy)
Jinx Magic
Perhaps the least flashy of the magics, Jinx mages focus on things beyond the physical. They are the brilliant minds that absorb information, the genius inventors of new magic techniques and items, the experts of the mind. Jinx mages often work as scholars, inventors, or with the military as strategists or intelligence agents. Jinxes specialize in one of the following:
- Scholar (study a specific field of academics and become experts to educate)
- Inventor (specialists in understanding the relationship between magic and the world, specializing in creating new spells or magic items)
- Mind (geniuses in the understanding of the mind, these Jinx magicians study with the Tempests as they are strictly employed by the military and follow the same rules as the Tempests; they can learn to read minds, use clairvoyance, specialize in tactics, and/or mind altering magic)
Twilight Magic
The most uncommon and controversial of the schools of magic. Twilight magic is the study of the darkest magics. They study the fields that make others squirm or fear the dark or their fellow man. Twilight mages are often not respected by society due to their often macabre interests. Twilights are often employed by the University as scholars, as morticians and funeral holders, or with the military to preserve the dead for transportation.
- Beyond (the study of demons and magical creatures, including spirits and ghosts)
- Death (the study of the dead, preparation of the dead, death rituals, and afterlife; please note that necromancy and the use of blood magic is strictly forbidden)
