Realistic or Modern A Tale of Two Packs (Open and Accepting!)

In a forest live two Packs, Lightning and Fire, each standing for something very different. A river separates their territory, a very clear line. These Packs once lived in harmony, but that was a long time ago. A very, very long time ago. Now they are bitter enemies. Generations ago, a quarrel broke out between the Alphas, though no one aside from Alphas know, as knowledge of it has been passed down only from Alpha to future Alpha, the Beta.


Fire Pack Info: The Fire Pack are master fighters. Most of their members are trained specifically for battle, and they are enemies to be feared. They are led by what seems on the outside a heartless Alpha, Max, who has many secrets about him, and his mate, Moon. However, while they do truly care for their Pack. These wolves are not above kidnap, attacking without a real reason that’s stated, spying, trickery or...well...anything else, really, and punishments even within their own Pack can be harsh. They'll do anything they can to wipe out the Lightning Pack and have the forest and all its hunting grounds to themselves.

Lightning Pack Info: The Lightning Pack spread their ranks out and are known for being strategists and family oriented more than battle oriented like their rivals. That said, they’re not afraid to fight. Their Alphas died not long ago, and they’d had no set Beta at the time, so it fell to their only daughter, Shadow, who now, almost three years later, leads with pride and joy and, to the frustration of some friends in the past, so far, she has yet to take a mate, which is almost unheard of in the Packs. These wolves are just and fair, they play by the rules unless it’s absolutely impossible to survive or succeed without breaking them. They have a focus on social relationships, training their young to be the best they can be at what they want to be, and on establishing themselves as strong, worth being in the forest just as much as the Fire Pack.


However, now more trouble is on the horizon. It’s winter, prey will be scarce, especially in large game, tempers and anxieties will be high, and this is the season when tensions raise. Nobody understands how, but the quarrel of Alphas always seems to carry through the years, the new Alphas always find a reason to remain bitter at each other. This doesn’t get any better with the incoming cold season. Will they make it through all the storms, cold and rivalries to see the spring?

It is almost time for the bi-monthly Meet, where wolves can stay in peace for a single night in the Meet Hollow with wolves from the other Pack. Alphas exchange news, both good and bad, and strike up deals, and wolves may trade for small prey or items they’ve found. Sparring and hunting games may also take place, but with conflict drawing near in the cold season, how long will that supposed peace last?

Lightning Pack
Name: Shadow

Age: 7 Years Old

Gender: Female

Personality: Shadow is fierce and loyal to her friends, family. Her Packmates. She’s not going to start a fight and doesn’t much like small squabbles, but if someone challenges or hurts her or her Packmates, she will not stand back and let them get away with it. She won’t admit it, but there are times when she gets a burst of energy just from fighting. Her focus is on her Pack as she wants to provide a safe and happy life for them all. She’s very protective and loves the young ones. She’s emotionally driven to a degree and speaks in a more formal tone unless she’s very close friends with someone. She’d gladly give her own life up to save a Packmate's, and she’s a stubborn and determined wolf. Sometimes, this leads to arguments, frustration etc, and she forms bonds quickly, both good and bad, but once on her bad side, good luck getting off. Her greatest fear is that her Packmates will get hurt because they trusted her, an irrational fear most of the time, but a fear nonetheless.

Unfortunately, she’s distanced herself from most of her Pack, to remain on a professional level and keep about her the air of authority she as an Alpha carries. The exception is the few select wolves that she knew as friends before she became Alpha. She fears getting close to anyone for fear of losing them, or even worse, of them being hurt because of her.

*Backstory: She never tells anyone, but when she was 2 years old, her brother abandoned them for the Fire Pack, right in the middle of a battle. It broke her. Even worse was that when she returned that night from the battle, she found out her parents had been terribly, possibly fatally injured. She was captured in the following days by the Fire Pack, and taken to serve as one of their Warriors in place of the three that they lost. She was tended to by the Beta of the time, Max. Finally, with the help of her friends Ash, and Fang (who later became her mate), she was returned to her birth Pack, only to find her parents had gone from their injuries, and left her the leader of their Pack, as eldest child, with no Beta. A couple months later, she had a mate and a Pup, Leo, but three months after the birth, two of the three Pups died and were followed by her mate, felled in a petty attack on Shadow herself by the Fire Beta Claw, leaving the young Alpha alone, she’s avoided taking another mate since then, more out of fear of losing anyone else. After his siblings' deaths, the last surviving Pup, Leo, fled into the forest. Nobody saw what happened, and many simply assumed he had died, though Shadow herself not for a second believed it.

Fire Pack



Name: Max
Age: 9 Years
Gender: Male


Personality: Max is colder than most wolves, and isn’t above trickery and lies to get what he wants. He can be harsh and sharp even with his own Pack, and has always loved a good battle! In fact, it’s no exaggeration to say he’s nothing less than a little battle hungry, a little bloodthirsty. He does have a soft side as well, for his mate and his young, but that’s about it. He’s determined, focused, and always seems to know exactly what he wants, even if often he won’t voice it aloud to the members of his Pack, save for his mate. He’s protective to a degree, but believes anyone who cannot defend themselves is not worth saving, with the exception of pups, of course. Everyone has a soft spot for Pups, even Max. He is good at hiding his emotions, but when his anger is triggered, things can be blow WAY out of proportion. Max as Alpha has a strong authority about him, and isn’t afraid to use it. He’s strong both physically and mentally, and has a high loyalty to his Pack, despite his oftentimes callous ways. Max loves making deals. That must be his greatest weakness. Even if it throws a monkey-wrench into his plans, he will always listen and consider a deal. He wants to turn things to the benefit of his Pack. He's courageous, without a doubt, and highly intelligent when he actually TRIES to figure stuff out, which is unfortunately not all that often, and he is undoubtedly a strategist, but... Max often overestimates things and even wolves.

Backstory: Max was born to the Alphas before him, Cinder and Tala. He's the half brother on his motter's side to Shadow's first mate- Alek - who passed long ago. He was the younger of his litter, and therefore was not to be Alpha. His brother Cobalt was to take that role. His fatter thought Max too soft for the role, and to prove his point and earn himself the throne, Max killed his own brother in cold blood. He fails to understand the ways of the Lightning Pack, despite his respect for their Alpha, and since he became Alpha of the Fire Pack, Max has set himself out and applied himself to carrying on the war between the two Packs, with hopes of eliminating the Lightning Pack altogether.

Name: Arian

Age: 6 Years

Gender: Female


Personality: Although she follows her Alpha, Arian is a fiery spirit herself. She’s got attitude and a sharp tongue, always willing to throw a retort in someone's face. She’s stubborn and determined, and wants to get her way. She’s ambitious, but doesn’t misuse that. She seeks to climb the ladder to the top through her deeds, and while she won't go out of her way to be cruel, she will follow any orders from her Alphas, even if they are immoral. She still looks first and foremost at the well-being of her Pack. Arian is very family-oriented, and wishes she had a mate and pups herself, although due to her...difficult personality, getting a mate? Unlikely. She's accepted that as a reality, and is not blind to her own faults, though she's also not afraid to defend herself. She’s easily irritated and is OKAY at covering up emotions, a decent actress. She is independent and hates being under control of any kind. The exception to this is her Alpha, but she sees his rule more as...guidance than control. Arian is a strategist and a logical thinker, with sarcasm and dry humour to go along with it, much to the annoyance of many in her own Pack. She isn’t afraid to fight and quite honestly, she enjoys a good battle here and there, so long as it’s not constant. She likes the action, and has her own little tricks, primarily her size, so small she could be mistaken for an older Trainee, despite her rigorous training, and having graduated to a Warrior as one of the best Trainees of her age range. That said, if extensive amounts of battles need to be fought on behalf of her home and family, she'll be one of the front-line fighters, with all the skill she's built up. To say the least, Arian doesn’t trust easily, and has a hard time being open-minded to newcomers.
