OHNO MAKIKO

Makiko should have taken the day off. Really. It wasn't like one more absence would matter. If her estimation can be anything to rely on (which can't be), she probably accumulated more absences than attendances throughout her entire academic career. It wasn't like she could do anything about it, though (she definitely could). It wasn't her fault that her parents were so keen on taking her overseas almost every other week (she could always say no, but she never does because she'd choose trips over quizzes anytime).

So here she was, inside WcDonald's, sitting through an awful headache induced by a terrible lack of sleep. "Sheesh!" She exclaimed, popping a pill before downing it with her iced coffee. Her eyes then moved to her watch, noting how it was already eight in the morning. She still got two hours before her first class, and although she didn't really care about the lesson, she didn't want Mimori and Yukari to keel over. They didn't get to see her at all during the weekends, after all. She was pretty sure they were dying to see her.

Speaking of Mimori and Yukari, she hasn't told them that she was back from her weekend trip just yet. "Alright, time to surprise those bitches." She muttered to nobody in particular before pushing herself off her seat and waltzing out the humble establishment.

She smoothly moved to the parking lot where her motorbike sat, approaching the red vehicle while fishing its key from her coat's pocket. Without further delay, Makiko hopped onto her bike, jammed the key into its hole, and turned.

VROO-oomph.

.

.

.

What the fuck was that?

"You got to be kidding me!" Aggravated, Makiko hopped off her motionless bike, its engine releasing sounds that can only be described as the mechanical counterpart of an old man's last heaves on Earth. "Really?! You're breaking down now?" She exclaimed, blood rushing to her head which only made its throbbing so much worse.

"Useless piece of junk!"
She shot her foot forward; the sole of her boot hitting the bike's frame with a loud clank before she lost balance on the other foot and clumsily fell backward.

Aozora Yukari

It was the start of the new academic year, just one more year until the inevitable college. She was afraid and excited too. She still hasn't decided if she'll push through with her dreams or go for a practical course for a more stable income like being a Programmer or a Doctor. She shouldn't be thinking about this so early in the morning, stressing herself out like before class wouldn't do her any good after all.

"Good morning, Aozora-san!" A fellow student greeted her as she was just about to push the key to the Student Council room.

Yukari's lips formed into a sweet smile, cheerfully greeting the student back. "Good morning to you too, Kisaragi-san." She said before giving a small wave and turning the key to open the door. A sigh escaped her lips as she placed the key in her pocket, something she obtained with Mimori earlier this morning in the Faculty Lounge.

She lazily walked over to one of the chairs and sat down. There wasn't really much to do if she was being honest. Most had been set and done before the school year ended, she made sure of that herself so that they don't start the year cramming documents and plans.

That being said, she's sure that the year would pass by quickly with the activities they had planned and being busy tutoring a few students. She tapped her fingers anxiously at the table, whilst leaning back to the chair. "I wonder when Makiko is coming home...." She muttered to herself, thinking of how she could get her best friend's grade to improve enough for the school they wanted to apply for.

A frown was plastered on Erika's face. Her back was sore, her limbs were crying for a chiropractor to snap them back into place or even oblivion and her brain was just a puddle at this point.

It was the first day of the new semester and she knew she should be at the very least, tolerable of it but her ventures from the past few days have finally caught up to her and at the worst timing at that.

The short-haired female sighed before reaching for her bag and walking to her front door. As she locked her dorm room with her key, her phone buzzed with the caller ID 'Old man' before she answered it.

As she made her way down the stairs, she couldn't help but smile slightly. Her dad on the other end of the line was doting over how he wishes he could've made her breakfast for her first day back but alas their physical proximity difference alongside how he had to drive Erika's uncle to visit some scums who weren't paying-

"It's fine, I'm older now, you know." Was all the female had to reply before a stream of whining and exaggerated crying was heard from her father. He went on about how she was growing up too fast to if only she was kicking ass alongside him later all the way to how he had been practising how to make raspberry scones like those Western rich ladies have during tea.

As Erika listened on to him go on about whatever, at this point, she found herself taking off her white shoes before placing her indoor slippers from her shoe locker onto the floor. She wasn't surprised he had run a 15-minute podcast of his worries, plans for the day and interest in the time she took walking from her dorm to school now.

"Dad, listen, listen. I'm gonna hang up now, I love you, okay? Try not to break anyone's limbs off, okay? Hmm? Okay, bye." She quickly added before pressing the end call button on her phone. She also couldn't help but catch the stare of one student who had coincidentally listened in to the last part of that conversation. The student ran off to their class, she assumed.

Oh well.

This is a tough decision, Itsuo thought to himself as he furrowed his brows in thought before leaning his head further into the table.

On one hand, the teriyaki chicken he had haphazardly cooked this morning (to his disappointment) had accompanying sauce to it. But then, the portion of white rice would definitely be larger than the serving size of the chicken itself. Not to mention, the rolled omelette he had prepared was larger in size compared to the chunks of chicken.

The only dish he didn't need to worry about was the potato salad he had whipped up last minute. It was, after all, malleable and would fit any compartment of the bento boxes he was using.

Huffing, he unfolded his arms before grabbing his pair of chopstick he had laid on the table. He made the bed so he had to sleep in it.

Carefully transferring the chicken and omelette into their respective compartments, he looked down at the two bento boxes with a smile. It is done.

"Yuki, I made an extra bento for you, it's on the table." Itsuo said after knocking on his roommate's door.

At times like these, he was glad Yuki was his roommate. Sometimes, Itsuo's portion control gets out of hand as a habit for cooking for his grandmother and mother. Plus, Yuki always seemed happy to eat his cooking. Two birds with one stone, as they say.

As he wrapped his bento box up, he wondered whether there would be any urgent matter the Student Council had to handle considering it was the first day of the new semester. He felt a chill up his spine when he remembered his seniors from before telling him about how they had to end a fight in a cafeteria, get students to volunteer cleaning up the whole place as well as cleaning themselves up because they were at the scene of the crime.

He hopes that doesn't happen today.

I'm here to have fun
The end of vacation had come and the new academic year had finally rolled in— Mimori couldn't say that she was too excited about it. She cherished the last remaining days of freedom by playing as many games as she could with Akihito before they were back to their usual streaming schedules. Though, through her excitement with engaging with some of her viewers, Mimori had ended up nearly staying up all night and only grabbing a few hours of sleep. When Yukari came up to her house to make sure she got to school on time, Mimori had cheerily exited the empty house, fighting back the oncoming sleepiness through the sheer power of fresh caffeine.

Mimori didn't usually have anything to do during the morning when Yukari had to come in as part of their student council meeting but, at the very least, she could hang around their club to check on their supplies. The start of the new year meant that they were soon going to start practicing again and she'd rather not find out that they had faulty equipment last minute. She knew their advisor wouldn't allow such a slip-up but Mimori was more than happy to check anyway. She went with Yukari to get the key for the theater room and parted ways.

Mimori made a beeline to their storage area inside their clubroom where they kept most of their props and other technical devices for safekeeping. Mimori had to admit that they had a lot more equipment than any regular theater club— perhaps it was thanks to the very generous donations students' families made— so there was a lot to learn and a lot to fiddle with.

She took out her phone and was about to open the Notes app where she kept the inventory before pausing over her messages. It wouldn't hurt to ask, right? She tapped Makiko's contact, affectionately named Kirin, and sent the message.

With that, she moved to the Notes app and began going down the checklist for their equipment. Wouldn't want to have something missing after all.

Hayashi Akihito

"Baam bam bam bam bam boom boom," Akihito air guitared his way out the local Wcdonald's with hash brown at hand. Nothing like a simple morning hype. He was usually early to the first class of the day after routinely knocking out a few bike repairs early in the mornings. At first glance it'd seem like a waste of energy, though it was clever compensation for more time off after school instead of extra work hours at the shop.

Seven Nation Army continued resounding through the guy's earbuds, steadily building him up for the day ahead. Even nature was in tact. The sunrise earlier that day was a lot nicer than usual in Akihito's eyes. An easy foreshadowing of the now sunny and clear skies. Akihito slowly breathed in the fresh morning air, taking the whole vibe in . . before briefly sneezing afterword. Good vibes all around.

All he could ask for now was the nostalgic taste of a delightful, golden crisp hash brown. The way Wcdonald's managed to keep it in an easy grab and go serving added to the simple masterpiece in his mind. Though the order was only a snack to complement the breakfast his grandmother generously whipped up for him. Akihito casually shoved the hash brown into his mouth, freeing his hands for the instrumental incline. His head subconsciously nodded to the beat. Then he shut his eyes, and let the instrumentals rip. Yes, Akihito. There he was coolly playing air guitar, while walking through a Wcdonald's parking lot. All up until-

A body suddenly fell into his arms. Of course. The hungry student's eyes shot open as he quickly wrapped his arms around the familiar figure. All in an effort to catch her as best as he could. " . . Kpheekfo?" He muffled with a raised brow, hash brown still firmly in between his bite.

For someone who likes to sleep, it was surprising that Yuki has been awake for so long. He had been spending the morning taking photos of the blossoming trees from his bedroom window on a small Sony camera whilst sipping a cup of black tea. The little things felt special to him. Having pressure from family was bad. He couldn't enjoy the holidays with his nagging parents and relatives. Being back in the dorm for the past few days had been the most soothing experience in weeks, like the biggest weight on his shoulders had been lifted. An only child with parents who only cared when he was doing what they want from him. It was a difficult life to live. School, even though there were stupid studies and bigger teenagers who treated him like nothing, was the place he had friends and the place he could be creative. However Yuki always tried to look positive even when there wasn't anything positive at all. He didn't want people to think differently of him. It was better to fake a persona than live with this reality.

Yuki needed school more than he'd like to admit.

Moving from his desk to his wardrobe, he was changing into his school uniform when Itsuo knocked on the door to say lunch had been made. His roommate was precious to him. Itsuo was the real glowing ray of sunshine Yuki was trying to be. He was a tall cutie pie and the shortie wished him all the best with his future in the culinary arts. Yuki tightened his tie and grabbed his bag filled with a few books, his wallet, keys, phone, a water bottle and his trusty camera. He left his room and faced Itsuo.

"Thank you,"
he smiled.
"You're the best."
He walked to the table, made sure the bento box was sealed tight and placed it carefully in his brown leather backpack.
"Ready for school? We should probably get going."
Yuki pulled a teal beanie over his head and pushed loose strains of ebony hair behind his ears. Opening the front door for them both,he almost jumped outside. The smell the fresh morning air. The bustling of the city. The slight hectic feeling of it all. He may have mixed feelings about school but beautiful Hokkido was another story.

OHNO MAKIKO

A soft gasp escaped her lips once her back collided with something that subsequently enveloped her. Upon looking up, it dawned to her that the something was actually a someone. "Akihito?" She mumbled, a response to his muffled attempt at what she assumed to be her name. While Makiko didn't appreciate the fact that somebody talked to her face with food in their mouth, she was grateful for his timely presence that prevented her from landing on concrete.

"Well, well, well! This surely brings me back." She pushed herself off him and dusted her clothes off. "Except back then using your body as a cushion was intentional." A wink followed the statement, a particular incident from their middle school days flashing in her mind.

Unfortunately, the amusing thought wasn't enough to ward off her original annoyance. A frown found its way back on her features, her right hand shuffling something within her coat's pocket before revealing a 10,000 yen banknote. "My, what impeccable timing you have. Why don't you be a dear and fix my junk bike for me?" Without giving Akihito any chance to refuse, the girl basically shoved her key and money onto his hands.

It was just her luck that Akihito was the one who caught her. The man has a part-time job in one of her family's auto shops, and she personally had witnessed his proficiency in motorbikes. Besides, in the small chance that Akihito couldn't fix her bike, she could just pay him to take her to school. There's no way she's going to walk the (small) distance from WcDonald's to Hokido!

"If only I woke up earlier!"

Nakamura Kei

the athletic dork

"Hey, man. I thought that you were going to go home first. I'm surprised you're still here."
A teammate that Kei was with slapped the back of his bare back. Unaffected by the slap, he grinned, turning around at his friend to shoot a gun with his right fingers back at him.

"There's no way that I'll miss this. Tomorrow's the day that we have the game going on." Kei stretched his shoulders. Right arm across the shoulders to his left side. Kei appeared to be a bit nervous about the swimming tournament the upcoming day because this meant that there will be hundreds-- maybe even thousands of people there watching him. Man, would that make his parents proud, although he's sure they're used to having so many people watch them.

"Alright bud, I'm gonna leave you alone. I have to go back home to study for the exam."
"Exam? There's an exam tomorrow?" A bit freaked out, Kei tilted his head. He did not hear anything at all during the lecture, but that word, "exam" should always stand out to him for him to at least hear. His teammate turned his head, leaning forward to Kei as he crossed his arms.
"You didn't study, did you?" He asked. His eyes were squinted, staring through Kei's vulnerable soul at the moment.
"Uhhh..." Kei scratched the back of his head with his right arm, laughing like an idiot.
"Well see ya. Good luck on tomorrow's test!" The male student walked off, shrugging off Kei since this was a common thing that Kei often did. On the other hand, Kei decided to focus on finishing his last round of practice before he could go home and mayyybee try to study (and emphasize the try from him).

Kei walked towards the edge of the swimming pool, ready to jump in as he suddenly lost his balance, falling into the pool. "I-I can't move my legs!" Panicked, Kei tried to flap his arms and legs but his legs wouldn't listen to him. His arms were able to move, but he could feel as if his legs were as stiff as concrete. "H-Help!" He cried out, slowly sinking in the water.

"A--AHH!"

Oh goodness. Kei was breathing heavily, his eyes widened with fear. Where was he now? He looked around the room to see that he was in his dorm, on his bed, with the blankets all over the ground and at the edge of his little bed. The male sighed in relief. "Just a dream." he said to himself, rubbing his eyes to wake up to reality.

"Wait. What day is it?" He said to himself in his head. He quickly turned his head around to look at the calendar on the right side of his bed. The calendar presented cute doggie pictures at the top and the month and day at the bottom. Circled red a couple of times on today, was the first day of school.

"Oh no!" Cursing under his breath, Kei swore he had an alarm on the day before. The male quickly grabbed his phone to look at the time. A picture of Kei standing next to his grandma was on the lock screen, but while his grandma's face could be seen, Kei's was covered by the clock.

10 am

The male got out of bed as fast as Cinderella ran for her life when the clock had hit 12 and hastily washed his face, brushed his teeth, and threw on his clothes.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Oh god. Please. If you hear me, please don't let me get punished today."

Kei rubbed his hands together, praying to the shrine before running like there's no tomorrow to the school gates. Kei could already see everything already: The nasty mean teacher who would punish those that were late to school. One student was already punished at the front of the school gates with both of their arms up in the air, kneeling as their punishment for coming to school late.

As bright as he could be, he tried to look for a way into the school wall, seeing some students trying to jump over the wall to avoid the teacher. Following another student's footsteps, Kei tried to jump over the wall, only to be stopped by the teacher who called out to him.

"Hey, you!" Kei froze in place, closing his eyes with a sigh of disappointment. He turned around, showing his teeth to the teacher with a smile.
"Come here and kneel right now!"

And so, Kei had kneeled in front of the school gates for coming to school late. With his hands up in the air and kneeling, the teacher lectured them about coming to school late on the first day of school. Kei's mind had other plans, such as wondering how he would get punished by his teacher back in class.

Aozora Yukari

Even with nothing to do for the Student Council, Yukari found herself making a lecture plan for both Nakamura-san and Makiko for the entire academic year instead. Hopefully, this would work on both. Especially for Makiko whom she had been trying to teach for years now and yet, nothing seemed to work. More work for her but she'd do anything for the people she loves.

Mimo☃

MIMO!?!?

Yukari let out a deep-seated sigh at the turn of events as she was sitting at the desk near the windows. She tapped her feet, adorned with her indoor slippers. I should've had dragged her with me before coming here. Regrets have been made today already, but this was also a usual happening with her friend so she expected that she'll see her best friend cleaning the bathroom later after school.

She looked around their class, noticing a few more people who were still haven't arrived such as Nakamura-san... It seems there won't be any after-school study sessions after school. Still a small smile was apparent on her lips as things were the same as always, and that thought brings her comfort. After this school year, things will change and she'll miss this.

Kaneda Yuki

While waking early is a pain, getting to school on time before his tormentors and evading punishment is Yuki's priority. He had gone ahead of his beloved roommate Itsuo and got to school before the final bell went at ten o'clock. Of course he did not wish lateness on his roommate; this was entirely for self preservation and Yuki did not mean it as an insult to the tall young man to be prancing off ahead of him. Many could describe Yuki as a firecracker, small and bursting full of energy. He simply didn't want to waste any time at all and reached the school gates at precisely 9:37am. A bit earlier than usual but it was the first day after all.

Yuki weaved past groups of people outside waiting for their friends and headed straight in, taking off his shoes to put on slippers, and made a beeline for his new classroom. He was no nerd but a nice spring morning would make everyone want to be outside including some unsavory characters. Yuki didn't like to talk about the bullying going on at Hokkido High. He would just be hurt more and with his home life in shambles and everyone seeing him as the light and joyful kid he wished he could be, Yuki didn't want to cause a scene. Anyone who saw Yuki being tormented saw it as either him trying too hard to be good to the wrong people or a bunch of giants ganging up on the nicest boy in the school as an example to other people. No one ever took it seriously. Erika once put herself in between Yuki and the bullies and them knowing Erika's shady background they left him alone for like a week. She would never do it again though and Yuki knows that. She doesn't seem like the type to get caught up in other people's problems.

Sliding open the door he saw a few random people he doesn't usually talk to and a few people he considered good friends. For once he didn't spark a conversation. There was a lot on his mind as it was the first day back. Nevertheless, he sat down at his regular seat. His preferred choice is the back middle spot so he can see everything but not be spotted by the teacher wondering if he is paying attention which he often isn't. He's been caught numerous times over the years drawing in notebooks and asking for answers to questions. He hasn't gotten to the point of passing or throwing notes. He may be a bad student but he isn't insane! Yuki took out his sketchpad for drawing and a notepad for his morning lessons, like he'd actually make progress in class this year.

I'm here to have fun
Mimori wasn't quite sure when she had fallen asleep. The last thing she remembered after taking inventory was fiddling with some of the mics that she knew were kind of hanging on to their last wires. It's not like they can't buy more but it was a waste of money to throw away something that could still be used. They could use the money for other equipment or even more money to go to stage production, heaven knows they need that.

She guessed it was around thinking about money being allotted to certain areas when she just nodded off. Because the next thing she knew, loud vibrations from the table were stirring her awake. She rubbed the sleep from her eyes and reached out for her phone, taking a few tries to get to it before opening it up. Her heart dropped when she saw six messages from Yukari all in various states of panic. Mimori let out a long groan as she dropped her head on the table again. She could just miss the first period and face the consequences later than just go to the room.

She could already see the disappointment and exasperation in Mr. Fujioka's face. "On the first day, really?" was definitely something he would say to her. Mimori was no stranger to being late or garnering consequences for some of her actions, but it did make her feel bad that this was unintentional on her part. She was already at school after all. Missing the loud bell signalling the start of the class must have meant she was way too tired for classes.

Was it too late to go to the nurse's office?

Nah, she'll have to suck it up and face the punishment... again. Mimori stood up and fixed everything in the room before heading over to Class 3-1's room. Momentarily, she thought of any excuse she could have given. Perhaps she could go off a limb and embarrass herself by saying she spent a little too much time in the bathroom? Nah, they likely wouldn't accept it as a valid excuse. She was dreading the moment she had to come up to the door until she was right in front of it. Time to face it with the dignity that she always faced in—

"There you are. You're late."

Their teacher had opened the door and crossed his arms, staring down at her and she couldn't help but let out a nervous laugh. Did he see her through the windows or something? Did the teachers have some sort of "Mimori is going to be in trouble and I need to be prepared" sense? She wouldn't be too surprised about that considering her relative infamy that she gathered throughout the years she stayed in Hokkido. "Well, you see..." Mimori started and trailed off under the glare of her teacher. There was a moment of silence before she shook her head in resignation and bleak acceptance. "Yeah, I got nothing."

"I'm marking you as late and you have to report to Mr. Fujioka after class for your detention." The teacher said before backing away and gesturing inside. "Welcome to your first day back in school."

Mimori let out another chuckle and muttered, "Gotta start it interesting somehow, right?" She quickly made her way to an empty seat, which was unfortunately at the back, and fixed her things onto the desk. She made a point to shrug at Yukari's direction in a motion that, yeah, she fell asleep but did they both really expect anything better?

Hayashi Akihito

"Akihito?" Kiko mumbled back mildly shook. She no sooner than later pushed herself off before the guy could say anything else. Akihito slightly rubbed his chin with a hand, as his friend went on about her fond flashback. It was fond her in her winking eye. Akihito though could remember otherwise. Listen here. Just imagine getting painfully body slammed out of nowhere! The boy at the time was merely an innocent child. Sure though, looking back he guessed it was kind of comical for their relationship to kick off in the playground Mortal Kombat style.

Akihito slightly smiled with a single nod, then Kiko suddenly shifted gears. She whipped out 10,000 yen before shoving it into his hand along with her key.

The hashbrown. Akihito's opposite hand reached to remove the forgotten golden crisp in between his lips. Everything happened so fast. He briefly finished his bite a smooth swallow. "I'll fix it," He replied, briefly tilting his hashbrown toward her. "Though you can keep the change," He bit off another piece of his treat, smoothly returning the banknote into her hands.

A few clanks and clunks later, and the duo was off. Akihito usually walked from his grandmother's house to class. Though with the amount of time it took to switch out the blah, tighten the thing, and shift the stuff, they both had to get on her bike and zoom. "Mind if I do the honors?" He innocently questioned with a raised brow. His chill frame soon shifted over the motorcycle below him as his eyes trailed the fine detail along its dashboard. Here he was about to drive the Gucci of bikes. A sweet feel indeed. After a vroom and a few drifts later, they coolly pulled up to the school's parking lot.

"I need to pee," He mumbled, gently shaking his way off the bike out of her grasp before jogging to the restroom. Scratch that, the boy sprinted. He sprinted straight into the building right for the restroom, and GOAL! Akihito sighed with relief as he exited the restroom. Nice. This was why he preferred sneakers over school indoor slippers . . wait-

The student quickly glanced at his shoes. Oh, that wasn't good. No shoes in the old building. One of the many rules engraved in the school bible. That's when the sound of a familiar voice echoed down around the corner of the hall. It was a tone Aki was all too familiar with. The teen quickly removed his shoes jumping over onto the other foot to find his balance before throwing his sneakers with a clear shot out the window. "Hayashi!" The feminine voice yelled out. Akihito quickly leaned against the lockers with a thud, one hand behind his neck for no reason.

. . .

"Sup," He nodded with a tightlipped smile. The school nurse furrowed her brows, "You're not doing anything to find yourself in my clinic again are you?" Akihito shook his head with a playfully terrified look. Then the nurse broke stern character with a cheery smile herself, "Good." Yeah, good she didn't look down at his socks. As soon as she rounded the corner, the teen had less than a minute to spare. Indoor slippers at hand, he sprinted and slid to class till he made it. Then he popped his indoor slippers on before opening the door.

Yes, there Akihito was trying to control his rampant breathing before coolly nodding at whoever was already inside. Imagine the challenge as he walked in all smooth and relaxed, while lowkey gasping for the breath of life deep down inside. Aki pulled it off nonetheless as he claimed a seat somewhere in the middle of the room.

"Guh!" He finally broke out on the desk with his head down breathing in as much air as possible. "Yukari," He puffed tilting his head to the side toward her. "What are asthmatic symptoms?" He clutched his chest trying to catch his breath as best as he could.

The bell rang.

"You're late," A voice caught Akithito's attention as his breathing pattern stabilized. Within a few moments, Mimo stepped into the room prompting Akihito to run a hand through his hair. Wasn't she with Yukari earlier that morning? How'd she arrive late? He nodded at her regardless once she took a seat somewhere behind him.

OHNO MAKIKO

Makiko watched as Akihito sprinted out of her sight. Weirdly enough, the boy didn't accept her pay although he got the job done and even drove her to school. Ah, well, whatever. Considering she knew his address, it was no issue and she could just have a little something delivered to his doorsteps. After all, she (and her family) had done it a lot of times before.

Anyways, Akihito sure knew how to speed drive. While she personally didn't mind it, her hair had a different opinion as its prim condition got rearranged into something less favorable. "I can't show up like this." She groaned, idly twirling an end of her locks before strutting towards the female restroom. Just like Akihito, she forgot to change into the indoor slippers (which is something that frequently happens thanks to her countless flights abroad).

Makiko lost track of the time as she fixed her appearance in the bathroom. By the time she came out, she was sure that the classes were already starting since there was a gaping lack of students in the hallway. That, and the fact that she caught sight of students kneeling in front of the school gates when she went to change into slippers after realizing her blunder.

A grin formed on her lips upon perceiving a certain someone among the latecomers. It seemed like Mr. Fujioka was just about done with his spiel, so the poor students should be let in any moment now. Makiko figured that she could wait for her fellow tutee, Nakamura Kei. Thanks to him and his inevitable punishment later, Yukari might reschedule their tutorial to some other day. Victory! Once Nakamura gets in then she'll surely give him a good pat on the back for a job well done.

Of course, there was the risk of getting caught by Mr. Fujioka and receiving the same punishment, but Makiko was confident in the power of money.
