I second all of this1. Realism and Details
I believe details are important and should be reasonably accommodated as per the circumstances. However, I do think you can go overboard. Too much information can very easily overshadow the most important piece: the plot. I think the realism should be reasonable and organized.
2. Character Sheets
I myself am sometimes a suspect of over doing character sheets, especially with backstories. I always try to compact it but it doesn't always work out. Perhaps having specific things you want from characters to outline would be helpful in reducing clutter. Only main points perhaps? Such as ideals and crucial points in their life.
3. Character Groups
I think sticking to groups makes for more interesting story dynamics. But I also think independent character agency adds a special flavor to the RP. Maybe at least two groups to keep flexibility?
4. Pre-planned Plot Points
I totally agree with you here. Keeps the story from stagnating. However, it is also helpful to consider the value in spontaneous events, life is not perfect after all, especially in turbulent times.
5. Other Things to Consider
I personally am wondering about the political nature of the story. Will geopolitical aspects take center stage or will our individual characters align to more average Joe types? Maybe a bit of both?
( SAIGO-NO-HEATS Of course this only personal input. Whatever you say goes. After all you are the boss, boss )
