Realistic or Modern 1937: The Second American Civil War

1. Realism and Details
I believe details are important and should be reasonably accommodated as per the circumstances. However, I do think you can go overboard. Too much information can very easily overshadow the most important piece: the plot. I think the realism should be reasonable and organized.

2. Character Sheets
I myself am sometimes a suspect of over doing character sheets, especially with backstories. I always try to compact it but it doesn't always work out. Perhaps having specific things you want from characters to outline would be helpful in reducing clutter. Only main points perhaps? Such as ideals and crucial points in their life.

3. Character Groups
I think sticking to groups makes for more interesting story dynamics. But I also think independent character agency adds a special flavor to the RP. Maybe at least two groups to keep flexibility?

4. Pre-planned Plot Points
I totally agree with you here. Keeps the story from stagnating. However, it is also helpful to consider the value in spontaneous events, life is not perfect after all, especially in turbulent times.

5. Other Things to Consider
I personally am wondering about the political nature of the story. Will geopolitical aspects take center stage or will our individual characters align to more average Joe types? Maybe a bit of both?

( SAIGO-NO-HEATS SAIGO-NO-HEATS Of course this only personal input. Whatever you say goes. After all you are the boss, boss 😎)
I second all of this
SAIGO-NO-HEATS SAIGO-NO-HEATS

'Fraid yer gonna have to face off against the Kingfish, friend. And it ain't gonna end well.

Crap I gotta brush up on Kaiserreich now
Me too about to play kaiserrech as we speak. Though i would do an america run but i am likely going to do another greece to byzantium run. I say Syndicalist, but i am a monarchist at heart.

Tempted to get HOI4 just for Kaiserreich. I have a hankering go find some way to make my home state independent like I did one time in Crusader Kings 2

The game on its own is really good. Recent updates and dlc really improved it thought it is going to be a bit expensive. What state?
North Carolina. I was playing a mod called After the End for CK 2 that takes place in a post apocalyptic America and I somehow went from a petty baron of the region I grew up in to Emperor and I have no idea how it happened

Huh, I thought it was strange that america was in Crusader Kings.
It's a mod. A really fun one too. It's America several centuries after the apocalypse where everyone is back to medieval levels of technology and culture, mixed with various religions and even a kingdom ruled by the descendants of Walt Disney (I'm not kidding.)

Character Sheet is UP!

Details for equipment are also in the OOC near the top

So....I guess character from Germany is out of the question?
Not necessarily, we're still working out the roles that foreign powers will have in the war, and at the very least volunteer battalions will probably be involved Like the Condor Legion or the International Brigades.

As for this very moment though the war is only days old, so it's still All-American.

The German Empire as a whole, and by extension most German-Americans would likely support the Union State due to their opposition to Socialism.

Expressing my interest to be clear, despite already discussing with the RP creator what I intend to make and getting the go ahead.
Time to make a CS.

I'll assume (since the character sheet thread is up) that you no longer need answers to these questions?

That's a nice state.
Yeah we've kind of moved on from that stage. I'm still uo to hear people's takes on what they're looking for in the RP though, it helps me come up with ideas as to what to look into.
