    well, I am fundamentally opposed to hiding anything from other players like that, or at least, from the GM. Apart from that, though, a character is allowed to have secret plans, even with me, so I guess it passes.


    The first trick is to make them true. That is, don´t fall into the pitfall of making a character that is flunctuating between one personality and another or something of the sort. Instead, clues us in only slightly to a motivation of the character and have them act in the defense of that motivation, without concern for anything else. This is a very basic formula that puts people on the edge by assuring that they are aware that at any point, your character can be with or against them and they will never know until they know how your character views the current situation- in benifict or against their motivation.


    Always make sure to tease people with small amounts of information, but have a fixed idea already about what the real full information is, not just to keep it consistent, but to give it a more interesting feel instead of an improvised one. Don´t forget to make sure you´re giving enough to make noticeable progress or at least to make people feel like their getting closer, rather than letting them aknowledge they´re being confused.


    lastly, have your character be trying to counter attack. If this person is purposely mysterious, then surely they would be aware of the possibility other people may be hiding stuff from them too. Get your character to make vague interactions about seemingly random topics in an attempt to withdraw information about said characters or something similar.
