The uncomfortable ride back to the academy did indeed have Tim leaning away from Jason as they wove through the roads. Tim liked motorcycles quite a bit himself, though he hadn’t been in the passenger seat in some time. Once more he considered how completely unlikely it was that he had spent most of his night with Jason Todd.

Though his discomfort had faded, Tim was always apprehensive around the person he ‘replaced’. The fight had been awful, Tim hadn’t exactly gone down like a sack of potatoes, he’d stood his ground for a good while. Of course, the madness of the pit and Jason’s absolute willingness to kill had been the edge that lead to Tim nearly being killed.

Tim had thrown himself harder into training since then, never wanting to be humiliated like that again. He’d been humbled well, knowing full well he was capable but not quite as capable as Jason, or Dick Grayson.

The answer sent a chill through Tim, he still couldn’t quite wrap his head around Jason’s lingering fixation on him. The way Jason held his hand close, a cold reminder Tim was indebted to him now, had added to the sense of dread pooling.

Why did the Red Hood need to torment him at every opportunity?

An uncomfortable level of tension had been building between them over the last few months, something Tim wasn’t sure what to do with. He wasn’t ready to come to blows with Jason, he certainly didn’t want to.

He was older, wiser, and well aware he had a road ahead of him to match strength to the level of rage he’d encountered.

Silence for the rest of the ride, Tim could feel his mood changing and elevating as the remedy Jason provided took effect. No concerns lingered for much longer, he was flying and it felt fairly incredible to be able to relax.

A nearly chaotic trip to the room had Tim nearly slipping as they snuck back inside, Tim inwardly cursing as Jason helped him. The last thing he wanted was to deepen this debt, were it possible. One thing he did stop to do was finish the half-smoked joint he’d been given by Jason, not wanting to waste it and not wanting to store it in his room. The small last act of rebellion had at least put him into a more relaxed state of mind.

Now soaking wet but safely inside the building, Tim peeled his own soaking wet shirt off, thanking Jason for the dry one offered.

Something caught Tim’s eye, something of his, a trunk he’d asked Alfred to send over when he’d left earlier that day. For some reason, the trunk was sitting in Jason’s room, along with another bag of his.

“You’re shitting me” Tim said, turning towards the second desk to see another case from Alfred that contained a few more personal items. “They did it. They stuck us in the same room” More anxiety-laden words left the young Robin as he began taking in the items occupying the formerly empty half of the dorm.

Perhaps the administration had put them together because they had both grown up at Wayne manor, they wouldn’t know it had been at fairly different times.

The silver lining Tim found and held to was knowing he wouldn’t have to exit the room, he found himself tossing Jason’s dry shirt back before shrugging. His own things were here, though he was still obviously bewildered that he’d been moved in with Jason.

Pulling a few dry clothing items, Tim stepped behind the screen and changed out of his wet clothing, putting grey sweatpants and a loose t -shirt on. He flopped onto his own bed, laying flat on his back, he wasn’t tired yet but the idea of actually laying down in bed after such an awful night had been too much to resist.

“Tonight was weird” Tim finally said, an actual laugh laced into the words.

/ Peter-Parker \

I yawned loudly as I left my dorm, throwing my bag across my shoulders.

It'd been a pretty rough night. After getting hit by a train and a drone in the same night (long story; lots of criminals involved), I'd been sore for hours on end, and by the time I managed to force myself to get some shut eye, it was 4am.

The last thing I'd expected was to wake up from a few hours of sleep feeling on top of the world. Sure, I healed pretty fast; just one of the many perks of these powers. But after last night, it was basically a miracle. I felt on top of the world as I shuffled through the halls, on the way to my first class.

As I walked, I noticed a lot of students going back to their dorms. Peering in as I strode past, a lot of them had tossed their bags aside, flopped into bed, or just sat down and started chatting it up with their roommates. Things one would typically expect at the end of the schooled day. Weird.

As I glanced through a window, I froze. The sky was streaked with orange and red, and the sun appeared to be retreating below the horizon.

I pulled out my phone in a sudden frenzy. It fumbled through my hands for a moment. Catching it, I read the time on the homescreen.

My heart dropped. It was evening time. Most classes - all of my classes, at least - had ended. I'd slept through my entire second day at school.

"WHAT THE F---"

'Seems like this student missed classes...maybe someone could help him' she thought

Oliver let out a breath of relief as he heard her speak.
He smiled out at Lily and rested on hand on his hip.
"You almost gave me a heart attack, Kid."
He walked out the room and went to the nearest vending machine.

He got her an array of snacks and drinks and walked back in holding the arm load of things for her to have.
He placed them on the bed beside her and smiled ever so slightly.
"How are you feeling?"

He let out a small breath of relief when she said she like the nick name... it was oh so refreshing to be with someone who would just say it like it is and say how they feel. Dick had been around males who had a thing about not showing emotion his whole life... and one of the things he always stuck what his Dad had said to him when he was only 5 and cried when he got hurt and tied to force himself not to cry.

'Son... you can cry if you want. It will make you a strongwe man.'
His Dad's words still rang through his mind although he had long since forgotten the sound of his voice.
Being a man wasn't about hiding everything so people thought you where fine and tough. Being a man was about having the balls to be real and honest.

He spoke ever so softly to her as the two of them started to walk through the beautiful fair grounds by the water, that reflected every shimering light.
"Earth can be a beautiful place at times. It does have it's flores tho like every other planet although I haven't been off world yet. I'm planing on it one day tho. And trust me, Alec..."

He grinned over at her as he slowed his pace to keep beside the breathtaking girl.
"There is nothing clueless about you. If you met my youngest brother you would realize it. He has been on earth his whole life and still doesn't know much about human interaction." He chuckled slightly with the comment.

Then she asked him about why he had come to the school. His heart sunk a little at the question... He didn't want to put a damper on the mood... but Alec seemed to be the kind of girl who was not shallow.
"I came because my adopted father, Bruce took on the job as principal... I knew all my younger brothers would be moved over here and I didn't want them having to deal with Bruce on there own. They need someone in their lives who is actually going to show them that they are loved... Bruce isn't good at doing that."

Bruce wasn't good at a lot of things a father was ment to do.

"So that's why I left my old school in Gotham to come here... that and I'm hoping sports competitions will be a bit more challenging here."
He gave her a soft smile but his deep, chestnut eyes gave away how he was really feeling inside. Hurt.

As they got to the giant farestwheel a grin spread across Dick's face once again and his chocolate eyes excitement.
Not for himself... but he knew this was Alec's first time ever being on the thing and he couldn't wait to see her face light up when she saw the whole city and how beautiful it looked up there.

A.J.
Scott following on with joke, took A.J.by surprise, he was beginning to wonder if the Japanese boy even had a sense of humour. But it seemed that he had one after all. Scott seemed (in his opinion) be the quiet, kind of broody guy. Not quiet because of being shy or social anxiety, quiet in a secretive way. Quiet because there were things in his past that he wanted to keep secret. Scott was a guarded person, he didn't give much away, but he clearly had a dark past, the numerous scars gave that away pretty easily. Plus the little of his life before Xavier that he had mentioned- turning up half dead on the door of the school, and his comments to Jason about being homeless (A.J. had eavesdropped on parts of their conversation) sounded rough.

Scott decided to stay, stating that he was also interested in the chips. His off hand comments about A.J. accidentally solving some of life's biggest unsolved mysteries made the tips of his ears turn red. He had been told many times that he was smart, maybe even verging on genius, but he never believed them. Why would he be a genius? He was just an ordinary kid from the west of Ireland, there was nothing that special about him. His powers were expected, he was the latest addition to a long line of powered people.

"I really doubt that will happen. I'll probabaly just short circuit the school or something like that and end up getting yelled at by the principal. But first thing first is to copy the code from Jason's chip and look through the code, see if I can see anything out of the ordinary, try and see if there is a record of how long it has been active. If you wanna have a look at the chips themselves, see if you can see anything, go ahead, two pairs of eyes are better than one. Also is there chocolate in that pile of food? I am starving"

I whirled around in surprise, mouth still hanging open in horror from my previous realization.

"Uhh, I-I, um, yeah nah, I'm good," I began, absently scratching the back of my head. "I just um...kinda slept through all my classes today," I stammered out, a nervous chuckle escaping me.

"I got to bed pretty late last night, so..." As I trailed off, it suddenly occurred to me that I hadn't the slightest clue who this person was. I quickly extended my hand, meeting her eyes. "I'm Peter."

Peter snickered. "Detention? Already? That's actually kind of impressive."

He experienced a sudden pang of renewed alarm as it occurred to him that detention might be what awaited him as well. Assuming any of his teacher's noticed his absence.

Shaking the thought out of his head, he gave a smile grin. "It's nice to meet you too, Anya. So how'd so many students end up in detention on the second day?" He asked, genuinely curious.

Jason would have to be right daft not to notice the new things within his dorm room. He knew that having a roommate was standard among the school (despite his constant bickering with Bruce that he needed to be alone) but it never really clicked that he would be assigned one so soon. It was the second day and he didn't have one, he thought that it meant he finally won his points across (he still woke to terrors in the night). Jason still didn't want someone in his personal space, lest not when he needed somewhere he could sleep somewhat peacefully and have s smoke without disturbing someone else. Not to mention he favored being able to have his gear out. Seeing Tim prod about different trunks was enough to cue in on who said roommate would be.

The shirt that was tossed back was hung without thought, Jason trudging his way over to the still untouched bed. He laid himself on his stomach at first, thankful that the sheets below smelled so sweetly of a fresh wash. In the very least he wouldn't have to put his gear away if Tim was going to be his bunkmate. He had no doubts that Tim would leave out his own.

"At least now you don't have to stray too far next time." Next time. Because there was going to be a next time. Jason had made a promise to hunt down every single last one of them, and he'd stand by it. A little gentle teasing would never hurt them. "Do I have to put my guns up from curious children's reach?"

Even if Tim were to answer that, Jason made no movement to leave his bed but to roll onto his back. Now he could watch the smaller creature in his natural habitat. Watch him squirm under his gaze as Tim put away various items.

Peter's brows shot up. "No one knows? Really? Huh." He shrugged. It wasn't really his business anyhow. He did have a somewhat more pressing detention-related concern, however.

Just as he was about to ask whether or not accidentally skipping all of your classes was a probable cause for detention, he noticed a familiar face ambling past them. His somewhat awed gaze followed Hawkeye down the hall.

"Whoaaa, hey...that's Hawkeye!" Peter exclaimed, an exited grin spreading across his face. He'd only seen the archer once before; admittedly the circumstances could've been better.

Tabitha watched the spirals disappear as a brief explanation of Elliott’s presence was given, she had a feeling he was more than likely toning things down along with leaving out the main story. She wouldn’t press, it wasn’t something she imagined was very fun to discuss.

“I guess you could say my ‘father’ sent me along, he’s a bit of a hardass, this is almost like a break” She said, her tone pleasant, she did use her hands to mime air quotes around the word ‘Father’, Cable was more of a guardian. A really aggressive guardian who demanded perfection and had theoretically killed her hundreds of times in training over the last year.

“How’s our little blue rock holding up to what you’re used to?” A less intrusive question now, it wasn’t in Tabitha’s nature to enjoy making people uncomfortable, well not this type of uncomfortable.

Tim felt long overdue in waking from this nightmare and rejoining the world where he wasn’t tied to a psychopath by an uncomfortable secret. He was doing his best to ignore the nagging feeling that it may have been a much smarter plan to go to Dick, the only other one who seemed to have empathy.

Now he was stuck in close quarters with someone he really didn’t enjoy sharing a public space with, expected to sleep. At least he could leave his gear out somewhat, given the batman level dorm security and shared interests.

“I’ll stray where I please” Tim said, calm now, an edge to his voice, he wasn’t sure where any conversation with Jason would ever lead. Normally they found a way, naturally or not, to Jason threatening or taunting Tim. The idea of it was exhausting on it’s own, though the elevated state of his mind kept him level.

The comment about guns had Tim raising an eyebrow, he wasn’t surprised there was no gun safe in use, but he wasn’t sure if it was a reminder that he was armed.

“Don’t worry, I’ll keep my hands to myself” Tim said, feeling his body finally starting to relax after such a stressful night. “I expect you to do the same, I’d rather not have you trying to attack me in my sleep” He added, human and mistrust laced through the words. He was genuinely unsure if Jason would try to cause him any further arm, hell there had been even more confusing threats over the last few hours.

Lotheralaix Lotheralaix

Jason snort, actually snort enough that he had to cover his nose because it hurt. Out of all things he could be possibly worried over, it was whether or not he was going to attack the younger in his sleep? God help him, that was so adorable. Only someone as naive as Tim would think that he would be unsafe in his sleep!

No, no. Jason had some class. While the element of surprise always looked appetizing, Jason very well liked for his prey to know that they were being hunted. He liked the chase, lived for it even. To just blindly attack Tim in his sleep would be undignified at best.

"I don't know about that Timmy, these hands do like to wonder." Wagging his fingers in his brother's direction like a threat after his comment. He snort yet again.

What a childish threat to have. Whether or not it was the party favor making Tim so paranoid or just the way the boy's mind worked in general was beyond him at this point. Tim was a very interesting read. Complex at times and even predictable, entertaining without a doubt. But still, a text that he didn't have the slightest chance of understanding.

All playfulness aside his gaze rose to the smooth ceiling.

What were the two of them even going to do?

Civil now, yes. Connected in a way that they'd never been before? Yes. Dare he say kindred spirits. That didn't change the overall trust factor. Neither of them would spill each other's secrets (or so he hoped not), but neither also expected peaceful cohabitation. Not that Jason really thought it to be possible. People were his weakest skills, Timothy or not. And what of their unlikely truce when Jason lived up to his usefulness? Would they continue to speak? Would Tim continue to ask for his help on the darkened path - or help at all for that matter?

He didn't see them doing science projects on their shared floor or gossiping about.. whatever the fuck normal brothers gossiped about. Curiosity had quite literally killed him.

"What're ya gonna do when shit blows over?" He was mumbling now, accent out on full display. Surely Alfred would have a stroke.

While he waited for an answer he dare not look in Tim's direction, keeping it firm on the ceiling above. He could hear his heart's murmur well within his ears and the tick of the analog clock right above the doorway. If he focused enough he could even hear Tim's breathing from across the room.

TheSaint TheSaint Tim

Tim actually looked over at Jason in mild disbelief as he commented on his wandering hands, crude as always, Tim wasn’t sure what he’d expected. Now he was going to be subject to round the clock torture from someone who found joy in making him uncomfortable.

“Anything to make me squirm, eh Jay?” Tim asked, watching the older boy giggling to himself over his concerns. The lack of empathy was impressive, if only Tim was a little colder, he might not be stuck in his current predicament. “I’m starting to think this gets you excited” A bold comment from Tim, but he figured Jason could take things as easily as he could dish them.

The next question gave him pause, what was he going to do once this blew over? Tim knew the real meaning here, what was he going to do after four more people had been buried. Anxiety panged within him again, he still wasn’t comfortable with what had happened, he had been exhausting himself pushing down the memory.

“I’m not sure yet, sleep?” Tim said, his guard lowering ever so slightly now, he was getting tired. The day and evening had shot by so fast it was quickly becoming a blur, it seemed bizarre that the sun was going to rise on a new day. Tim’s world was permanently changed, darker and significantly less happy. A tight ball of anxiety sat in his ribcage, he was sure it would never leave.

“Does it blow over?” He knew he was asking the right person, there was quite a bit of redacted in Jason’s past. Tim knew the Red Hood wasn’t someone to flinch at taking a life, part of why Jason’s reaction to Tim’s situation tonight had been so shocking, Tim hadn’t expected either extreme of emotion. “I’m not foolish enough to think I’ll feel better, I just know this is necessary” The words seemed somewhat painful to voice, he was still conflicted, despite not being able to take things back. It seemed he had already decided this would be seen through, after all, he’d already started.

Alecto laughed a little when Dick teased about his younger brother’s social drawbacks, she had met creatures on many planets who refused to be approachable. Often fear was behind them, though there were still many who simply did not want to bother with social interaction.

“Are all of your brothers adopted as well?” Alecto asked, she had indeed read about Bruce Wayne and had heard there were quite a few young men running around his mansion. Hoping the question hadn’t come off rude, she did her best to remember what she’d learned about the school principal. Bruce Wayne had sounded like a very upstanding person, taking in children without families and donating such large sums to charity.

The details about his emotional distance were interesting but not completely impossible, no doubt he was a very busy man and had little one on one time, perhaps the boys had more or less raised one another.

“You’re an athlete? What are you hoping to compete in, and please explain it you know I’m not from around here” Her turn for a small joke, she was growing more comfortable as she spoke with Dick.

The giant wheel was indeed impressive and even a little charming, Alecto hadn’t experienced something like this. She was actually quite eager when climbing into the seat once their turn arrived.

He was perplexed by the question, so much that he was unable to answer to the call of the bold with that signature tongue. Does it blow over? Certainly he could lie to Tim. He could tell him that once he'd gotten his revenge that he was going to feel at peace with himself, that it would somehow fill up a void with warmth and belonging.

But Tim wasn't an idiot. "Maybe it does, fuck, I don't know Tim. You want to be real though? You really want to know?"

"No." He answered flatly. He moved an arm to be resting under the pillow in turn propping up his head.

"You'll always remember it." He started back up, his voice but a whisper to the droplets landing at their window. "The other ones are kind of meaningless, you know? They all kind of.." Kind of what? Jason wasn't too sure himself what he was trying to explain. He spare a glance at Tim, just to be sure that this was a conversation that they were having, and not just another sleep deprived musing of his. Only after he reassured himself that Tim was indeed a few feet away in his own bed did he cast his eyes back to the ceiling.

"Blur." He concluded after a hard swallow. There was nothing to see, nothing that was even remotely close to moving, yet his eyes still flickered like they were tracking a dance. "You feel it, ya know? That feeling that you have now, it goes away for a little, dies down some. But every time you think of it, it'll be right there were you left it. A little duller this time, but still just as memorable. Everything else after that? Meaningless. You won't be able to tell faces from dates. Places from weapons, accidents to plans. Shit just gets so messy. Kinda makes me feel like I'm going to vomit. "

"Names, now that one always escapes me. I could give you a rough amount of how many there are, but names? Nothing. There can't be anything lower than that, forgetting a name that you took."

Another glance, just to be sure.

"It hits you at weird times though. Fucking weird times. People talk'out it in dreams all the time. You'll see them when you dream they say. You can't sleep without it. All of that - yeah, it happens. Only forra first few times. After a while you sleep better than if you didn't." He laughed, the low rumble of his voice like hot wax dripping onto paper. "But people don't tellya that you see it in other shit too. Fuck, I was just minding my own business - Alf asked me to gettim' some eggs or some shit, I don't even remember now - but this sign at the store. This fucking piece of paper at the store, some missin' kid. Made me think, if I did something hours before, weeks even. I coulda stopped that, yaknow? Who knows if I even got that guy's kidnapper, I might've. Maybe he's still out there. I gotta live with that. "

Laughing, Jason was laughing again, his arm that was previously under the pillow now thrown over the upper portion of his face. "I aint even pay for the eggs, Just set them down somewhere for someone else to worry about and left. Couldn't go into that store for a damn month. Shit - I've gouged out eyes and heard it all Timmy; the cries, the pleas - they got kids, they got family, yada yada. But that what if? That's what eats away at ya, not the act."

He dare to lay on his side, now fully able to look over his audience as he pleased, a distant smile over his lips. "It's the shit that they don't talk'out."

TheSaint TheSaint Tim

Tim had always found laughter to be an incredibly interesting defense mechanism in people, he had seen it in heroes and criminals alike. It was something he’d never taken to using, being unfortunately more prone to voicing his feelings and discontent.

He really didn’t fit in well with the rest of the bat-clan in that regard.

He listened quietly to Jason spilling some unexpectedly deep feelings about his own experiences, Tim had been expecting more sarcasm. The kinder nature in him wanted to offer words of support, the high intelligence he possessed warned him against interrupting or attempting to soften the mood.

It was time for him to be quiet and listen, something he felt he could manage just fine.

“I guess I just don’t feel bad--yet, that guy had nothing, it’s why. No one is looking for him, no one will” A cold and fairly calculated aspect that might stick out, something else to contrast Tim’s initial feelings of ‘I didn’t mean to’.

He’d chosen the weakest link, the one who had hit rock bottom and fallen out with the rest after putting most of his money up his nose. Now as he distanced himself from the crime, Tim was aware of the denial his mind was trying at, as tempting as it was to give in, he knew he couldn’t pretend it hadn’t happened.

Sure he had limited collateral damage with this one, but what about the others? There were strings attached to some of them, dangerous strings, Tim wouldn’t be able to get at the others quite the same. He needed the help he’d sought out, the overall price it would wind up being was a constant worry. He wouldn’t ask again though, at least not yet.

The mood needed to be lightened somewhat, for Tim’s own sanity now.

“How do you effectively bottle it up for a short period of time?” A weak attempt at humor now, the strain was showing in his voice once more.

Lotheralaix Lotheralaix

Bottle up their emotions like they never exist? Now Tim was asking all of the right questions! If anyone of the odd match of brothers were to have an answer to that, it would be Jason. Dick wore his heart on his sleeve, and when he didn't he was too busy trying to get into someone else's sleeves. Damian was a damn brat who didn't understand the meaning of the middle finger, asking him for emotional support was a redundant as it was a waste of time. But Jason? Bottling up feelings may as well have been his middle name. That was very much a part of his skill set, long before dawning the Hood (or cape).

"I smoke." And if that wasn't obvious enough, the smile that was so sad before darkened in appearance. "Sometimes I get so fucking drunk that I can't see straight for days. I rile up the demon brat for a good fight, mostly smack him around. Go for a ride, outside of the city of course, till my arms are shaking and I can hardly sit up straight. And oh -"

Well, this one really went without saying. The gaze provided from head to toe of the darkened figure on the bed across from his own. Yeah, he didn't need to say that one.

Jason cleared his throat. Why was his mouth so dry again? Always so dry around this one. He made a mental note that perhaps the emotional turmoil wasn't the oil cause, perhaps he should seek out more hydrating resources. The last time however? That was something he could explain a lot easier, sans leer.

"Bought a new gun, shot it until I thought the barrel was going to melt off." Now that was something that he could help Tim with, but it would mean leaving in the harsh of the storm once more. Jason didn't dare speak up on that. His hair was just starting to dry afterall. But what else could they possibly do? Jason knew the school enough to know every exit that exist, but that was the extent of it. Bring Tim up to smack the Demon around would prove risky; Tim wasn't as primal as the boy (though the events of the night may suggest otherwise). He didn't want to have to explain to Dick why Tim was beaten bloody and Damian smug.

Tim had no tact for smoking, that much was clear the moment that he first took a whiff of his scent. If he remembered correctly, he'd said that Jason smelled worst than that 'tacky gas station on 9th'. Brat. None of these options seemed exactly viable here. Even if he did have some booze, he wasn't sure he wanted to waste it by the regret of what the boy's hangover would be like.

"Look like we're shit outta luck babe." The shrug he offered wasn't apologetic whatsoever. "Maybe if you weren't so small still -"

Oh.

Small. Tim was very, very small. Well, in comparison to himself. Lithe. Limber.

Jason was standing from his bed in an instant.

"Actually, there is something that we can do."
