Soo... ahh... a few of you (make that 67+, as of this moment in time) have interacted with me on this site.
And for those of you that have, you might know that I draw (and, in fact, drew my avatar and profile pic!).
But what you might not know, is that I only started drawing digitally fairly recently. In fact, I haven't had lot of experience at all. Or maybe it's dead obvious. XD
Some of the drawings I'm about to post are legitimately TERRIBLE (like, we're talking 3 year old finger paint style), but I wanted to make this thread to... showcase my improvement? Get feedback?
Ehh... I guess I really have no idea. XD
I guess I'm actually proud of the progress I'm making, and figured other people might be interesting in seeing as well.
It might be encouragement for people out there whose art looks like my first few... You CAN get better! ^^
Faces
In this one, I was literally trying to copy some Naruto character and had different clothes or something.
Pros:
-Ehh... it was a starting point?
-Eye is... semi decent?
Cons:
-Made with Paint
-Made with the line tool and paint can
-Practically no shading
-WHY IS HER NECK YELLOW?!
-Nice bald spot above the hair
-Proportions are.. wrong
-Looks like garbage in general.
Pros:
-Woo! Look, this one has a background!
-Uhh... colors are... nice? Maybe?
-Head shape is... mildly better than the last one.
Cons:
-Made with Paint
-Made with the line tool and paint can
-NO shading at ALL
-Eyes are VERY CROSSED
-Ears are too big
-Head is "resting" on the shirt
-Line art is too fat
-Ehh... basically really crappy.
Pros:
Okay, this one has some perks.
-Eyes are sort of cute
-Colors are nice
-Proportions are getting better
-Shading is a thing now!
Cons:
-Made with Paint
-What is wrong with that hair?! D:
-Line art is too thick
-Line art is VERY sloppy

-Whoa ho! Upgraded to paint.net!

-The return of the crossed "anime" eyes
-Thick, wonky line art
-Obvious "glow" tool is obvious
-Poor mouth design and shading (or lack thereof)
-Eyebrows are a solid line. XD
-Colors are... eugh.
Pros:
Oops! Looks like we took a step backwards
-Cute shirt
-Minimal shading (yeah, that's a pro)
-Cute iris design! Despite the overall eye shape
-Hair shape isn't bad, and actually covers the head
Cons:
-If this character were real, she would not be able to see with those eyes. Very crossed! X_X
-Too long neck
-Minimal shading (also a con). Could have been better.
-What is up with her mouth?! Did she eat a Ditto or something?! Your mouth is not supposed to be purple inside...
Pros:
-Shading is becoming darker and more... accurate
-Hair actually covers the head and is shaped pretty nicely
-Colors are pretty good
-I'm still proud of that shirt! ^^
Cons:
-So, we have square eyes now...?
-Mouth is just... ehh
-That forehead could compete with One Punch Man!
-Line art is better, but still choppy up close
Pros:
-Colors match nicely
-The eyes look MUCH better than previous pics
-Mouth isn't purple or void
-Loving the irises
-Shading is becoming better again
-Head shape is better, too
-Eyebrows have color!
-Proportions are pretty good!
Cons:
-Line art is better, but still bad in spots
-A mix of anime and cartoon style, but doesn't really fit with either
-Still obvious shapes
-Some of the shading... isn't. It's pixelated at the edge.
Pros:
I switched from trying to draw "anime", to trying to find my own thing. Inspired by the artwork found in Paper Mario, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, and Undertale (or, I guess fan art of Undertale), this is what was born.
-It has a background again!
-Full body?! What is this madness?!
-Shading has improved a lot!
-Proportions are cute and "chibi" style
-Line art is a lot better
-Started using highlights
Cons:
-Line art is still a little... off
-Shading could be better

-Switched from Paint.net to GIMP
-Shading and highlights are vastly improved
-Line art isn't too wonky! For once...
-Colors are very nice together
-Iris is cute
-Background has some detail instead of just plain
Cons:
-There's always room for improvement
-Mouth and nose could be better somehow
-Iris could have more detail
Pros:
-Shading and highlights have changed in style, but are better and more vivid
-Line art is pretty smooth and not grainy
-Same "chibi" style
-Has a plain background, but the colors blend nicely with the character
-The addition of a signature!
Cons:
-There's always room for improvement
-Line art could be smoother yet, but drawing on a mouse makes that difficult.
Backgrounds
Haven't done many of these, but here are my backgrounds.
Pros:
Tried drawing this one on Serif's Drawplus x7 (or was it 6?). Inspired again by Paper Mario and Snowdin (from Undertale), I drew a snowy background for my profile.
-Sky looks cool
-Colors are nice
Cons:
-Everything is sort of... cartoony and sterile looking.
-Missing something
Pros:
Went back to GIMP, my now go-to drawing program. This was my first attempt at digital painting, though I did oil painting irl a long time ago.
-Sweet clouds
-Decent tree
-Colors blend nicely with each other and my profile pic
-Fantasy style
-Colors carry over to every part of the painting
Cons:
-Lacking in detail (needs more plants, rocks, trees, etc)
-Glaringly big signature
-Colors aren't realistic (Though, I wasn't going for realistic, I think I don't like the colors very much. Idk.)
Pros:
Drew this one on GIMP for my friend on here, RPN's one and only, Daisie! (Shout out if she's reading this without being tagged! *waves*)
-Moon looks very cool. I'd never drawn a moon before, and I'm pleased with it.
-The colors all blend nicely and look more real than the last one
-The rock is also another first attempt that I'm proud of (Well, make that second attempt. I erased the first one)
-Really pleased with the pond's reflection!
Cons:
-Again, needs... something. More trees, maybe?
-Always room for improvement
