The Height Advantage [IC]

A distant gunshot stirred him, and he wondered what it was about. As someone from the military, it would have been almost instinctive that he investigate this matter this instant, yes, would have, if he weren't still in bed. Awoken by the gunshot Misha Kerensky lazily looked towards the clock set on the wall of his little shack, turns out running away to join the military made his parents mad and thus, he isn't allowed to sleep at home anymore, thought the occasional dinner was not a problem. As his fogged mind clears, he realized that he is without a doubt late, maybe just somewhat, but the captains ain't gonna be too happy about the lack of punctuality. Quickly, Misha got up, forcing his lazy body to obey with what discipline he has and grabbed his tooth brush and headed down to the barracks, for his own little shack has no water supply of its own, but at least it's close to the barracks, so that wasn't a problem.

Location: Katie's Home

Having quickly brushed up, Misha headed for the source of the gunshot, or at least where he thought it came from and looked for the biggest mess he could find, for if there's anything the military is good at, it's making a mess.

"Really, it's no wonder that no one likes us."

And as he arrives on the scene where he believes the gun shot is heard, of which is a reasonable assumption, seeing that his squad mates and captain are stuffed into one single home. Confirming that there is indeed a mess Misha walks in, alert, not because he is wary of danger, at least, not the ones that are not captain ranks.

"So, what did I miss?" he asked, scratching the back of his head, ruffling his unkempt hair.

Lower Level — Katie's House

As Misha approached the rickety building, a solid thud behind him singled the arrival of Vendaval. He had, apparently, simply jumped from one of the bridges above to reach the lower levels quicker in response to the gunshots. Which one he jumped from, however, was unclear. His uniform was almost immaculate, only slightly rumpled from his jump, and his cast iron sword hung from its Buckzilla leather sheath on his back.

"My my. Quite the scene," Vendaval commented quietly before moving to stand next to Misha. "Seems like a domestic disturbance. Probably didn't end well, judging from the screaming and gunshots. A real shame, it is. We've got monsters chewing on our homes' roots, and somehow we still find the time to kill each other."

Upon seeing Captain Alina exit the house, Vendaval approached her and threw a quick salute before tucking his hands behind his back. "Captain. I've been temporarily reassigned from the scouting division and was told to report to you. How may I be of assistance?" @revior @JPax

Captain Alina Acklen

Location: Front of Katie's Home

"I believe we aren't on a scouting mission, that's why I'm here. Unless, you're looking for Captain Keita. No matter, while you're here, we have a situation." Alina crossed her arms and jerked a thumb at the house. "Before I tell you what happens, take a good look at this house. It's a nice house, better than the likes of most of you have ever seen. Belongs to a little brat with abusive parents. Take this as a reminder that life is unfair, so deal with it before you begin to whine." The captain's expression intensified as she explained the situation. "Don't approach the kid. She'll be easily spooked. The father is under arrest, and the mother is no longer with us. The bitch committed suicide to avoid me."

Her left sword was dripping fresh human blood. This wasn't, however, the first time the captain had taken human life, directly or indirectly. Alina looked into the trees, and then back into the house. "I'd like the area secured. Don't allow anyone from the neighboring houses to enter the premises."

Misha Kerenksky

Location: Katie's Home

Misha turned around when the sudden thud from behind him gave him a slight surprise, though not as much as the other times the "Monkey Man" had done the same thing, and as he observes the newcomer approaching, Misha wondered why couldn't people just walk like normal human beings. After all, you don't see him jumping around, flinging himself off trees, not that he could if he tried, and if he did, he'd probably break a few bones and ever more probably fall of a branch to his untimely doom. Soon, the captain came out and both Misha and the newcomer gave the captain a quick salute, one somewhat sloppy than the other, namely Misha's. Then the captain apparently decided that mornings are a good time for lectures, of which Misha would fervently disagree with.

"Eeh, I've seen nicer." said Misha with a shrug, his own home is indeed nicer if only slightly, thought by that he meant his parent's place, of which he had been kicked out of.

And having received the orders to secure the house, Misha sorta wished he hadn't come this way, maybe if he'd pretended to be on patrol elsewhere, he wouldn't be dragged into this mess. But what the hell, orders are orders and he knows very well hoe his captain feels about disobeying order.

"Roger that, cap'n." Misha replied with a salute, "You want us to clean up the place while we're at it? Or do we leave it alone for 'evidence'?" And that, Misha said with sincerity, because he can clean it all up fairly easily; pick up the glass shards, clean up the blood, toss the body down the tree, and all can be done with a bucket of water. Actually, only the cleaning up the blood part is doable with just water, but damn if he couldn't finish it faster than one can yell 'Shredder'. What with his power and such.

Dave caught her, grabbing her arm and hoisting it over his shoulder, trying to support her. "Easy now Lex, I've got ya." He kneeled down a bit so she would have to reach up, leading her out. He passed by the captain and 2 other soldiers in the kitchen, making a quick report. "Captain Acklen, I will be escorting Soldier Lexia out of the premises for some R&R. Once I'm sure she's safe, I'll report back."

Camille keep sitting still even when she did hear girl. She wouldn't scare girl by taking her out from her hiding place.

@Echo Dreamsong

Camille doesn't know what happened to Katie's mother and even though she knows that father would go jail, Katie doesn't know it and Camille's plan is make Katie calm down.

Katie let out another cry of pain. She didn't call for anyone, since she really didn't have anyone she'd ever trusted.

Camille heard another cry of pain.

"If you come to me, i can help. Your father has taked away and your mother will not harm you ever again."

@JPax no you don't say right to way 6 year old that her mother has done suicide.

(I know that you was going to say it)

Captain Alina Acklen | Lexia Meyers

Location: Front of Katie's Home

Lexia squirmed away from Dave. "Don't-" She caught her balance. Taking a strike to the face from that woman definitely ranked high on the scale. Meanwhile, the captain distributed some orders. "Misha, Vendaval, leave the scene intact. The only place I want shiny clean is the barracks. This, I give little care about." And then she turned to Dave. "Good luck. She bites." Alina remembered back to Lexia's first day in training.

"Hey, you scared me! They shouldn't allow sixteen years olds to be captains anyways..." Lexia mumbled something in annoyance before following Dave out.

@revior @Brass Skeleton @Hanah Solo

@Hanah Solo captain has other things to worry about xD

"Oh, I don't think we're on the level of biting yet Cap." He joked, cocking a little smirk. He gave another salute before walking out with Lexia, a little hurt she pushed him away when he tried to help.

@JPax

Shiru aimed his still illuminated hands at the father. "Alright, just come with me. If you attempt escape, you will regret it". Shiru said these words as if they were in a routine that he had carried out many times before. His power was useful enough that he didn't need handcuffs to perform an arrest, making everything much easier for everyone.

The father just shrugged, hobbling along. "And what do you plan to do with me?"

Katie stayed in the same place, trying not to move. She was fairly sure Dave was out there, and he might hurt her if what he said was true. Katie wasn't taking any chances

The father just shrugged, hobbling along. "And what do you plan to do with me?"

Shiru led the man to the middle level detainment....thing. To this day, he had never found out its official name and just referred to it as "the detainment thing". He put the man inside where he would be held until the Captains decided what to do with him.

Captain Alina Acklen | Lexia Meyers

Location: Front of Katie's Home

Alina didn't change her expression. She wasn't fazed, nor was she remotely impressed by the joke. "I wasn't joking." She watched as the man was taken to the detainment thing. Some people just had to fill their self esteem by beating up kids. In all honestly, Alina figured the man could get a good ass whooping, given by herself. For now she'd just wait around.

Lexia rubbed her head. "Well, I think captain just put us on break. How weird of her."

@StriderBro @Echo Dreamsong @Doctor Nope

"Weird. That's one word for it. I'll call it a gift if you don't mind." He smiled a bit, arms crossed behind his back as he walked with her. The goal was to get her back home, and for the most part remain quiet. She seemed kind of...mad at him. At the very least upset. That, he quite disliked

@JPax

Katie stared up at Camille nervously, shaking slightly. Seeing a person that had not yet threatened her was nice, but she needed to check first. She slowly reached up and touched Camille's cheek, seeming to be feeling for something like a mask. Or maybe she just wanted to relish this moment. "M-mommy an daddy are gone?" She asked nervously, still in the cabinet. That may have been because she was stuck though.
@Hanah Solo

"Well i doubt that. Don't worry i protect you and my sister would too. From first we would buy your favorite food, then couple new clothes and funitures. Is there something in your room that you want? I can go pick them up."

Camille didn't stop smiling to Katie.

"My name is Camille, you can call me Cam."

@Echo Dreamsong

Katie frowned deeper for a moment before suddenly perking up. "Cammy!" She cried, smiling weakly. "I'm calling you Cammy!" She slowly moved out of the cabinet, wincing at every bit. "I have my teddy... Can we get teddy?" Katie asked, looking up at Camille.

@Hanah Solo

"Okay, what is your name little one?"

Camille lifted Katie up and start carrying her.

(Is Katie's mother at hallway or in room? I would hate make Katie see her mother's corpse.)

Captain Alina Acklen | Lexia Meyers

Location: Front of Katie's Home

Alina walked upstairs and picked up the mother's corpse. The wound was, in trained eyes, one of suicide. However, it did look quite terrible in the first place. At this point, the captain didn't care if Katie saw the corpse or not; they lived in a brutal world and sheltering the kids wasn't something the captain believed in. She walked down the stairs, past Camille and Katie, with the corpse, though it was over the shoulder turned away from the two. It could easily be mistaken that she was unconscious.

Lexia walked home with Dave, not saying a word. She figured he wasn't particularly happy with what she did, so that subject never arose in anything she did say. After a few minutes of walking like a professional in the military, she turned towards the stairs. "So much in one day. I can see where the captains come from when they say humans are ungrateful and self destructive."

@Hanah Solo @Echo Dreamsong@StriderBro

"Yea, I guess so." He mumbled, walking up the stairs. "Not like its all humans. Shouldn't stereotype." He kept walking, not stopping to wait, sure she was following

Captain Keita Location Near Katie's home

As Keita was walking she spotted Dave and Lexia she stepped into their path. "I heard from a few soldiers what had happened are you two alright? Those types of moments can be all it takes to break down some soldiers. I understand Captain Alina can be....tough." She finished her concern for the two soldiers seeming to lay more in her fear they wouldn't be able to do their job rather than their own mental health. Yet there was a tad bit of actually concern for the two of them she looked past them seeing the house looking at Lexia she asked. "Is Captain Alina still inside the house or have I just missed her?" She and Alina didn't talk much but when they did it made Keita aware just how different the two were while both took their job serious. Alina seemed to show more emotion when talking or completing task unlike the zombie Keita yet she was curious to hear Alina's side of the story.
