- Most of you are probably familiar with the popular movie and board game, Clue. In this game, several characters/players are invited to a mansion, but the night after they arrive, their host is violently murdered in the house. A snowstorm has prevented anyone from entering, so the murderer is undoubtedly still one of the guests, still within the house, which gives a very specific list of suspects. Unfortunately, the same snowstorm prevents the police from arriving or any of the guests from escaping with their lives. The people in the mansion are forced to track down the murderer themselves, lest they too meet a violent end.
If you have any other questions regarding the original story, drop a reply or shoot me a DM to ask, I'd love to clear anything up! - Since this is a roleplay, created specifically to express creativity through writing, I'm going to make some minor changes to the original version of Clue. They're listed below (:
- The number of characters will not be the same, and it's not strictly limited. If enough people express interest, I'll have to choose, otherwise I'll accept whoever applies and we'll work from there.
- This probably isn't completely relevant but the name of the host isn't going to be Mr. Body xD I'll have to come up with something else.
- We will not be working with the canon characters (for example, Mr. Green, Ms. Scarlet, etc.), everyone has the chance to create their own role in the game.
- There will not be predetermined weapons as there are in the game. However, there are a limited number of potential candidates considering we're in a mansion. - To have a plot, we're obviously going to need a murderer, and to keep it fun, we're going to need the rest of the players oblivious to his or her identity. So who is the murderer going to be? That's up to you, reading this. If you think you're ready to take on a bit of extra work to take on the role, shoot me a DM and your character bio and I'll let you know if I think you're the right fit. Since I will know who you are, I will not be playing a character, other than perhaps an NPC to kill off but not to have any major role in the plot unfolding.
Whoever chooses to play the murderer will write two posts, one to be posted from me anonymously, and one from your own account for the rest of the players to see. Make sure not to include any information about your identity in this post (age, gender, weapon, etc), and make sure to send it directly to me instead of to the main RP thread. It would be helpful if you give some clue as to what weapon was used to kill the victim though, perhaps a wound that could only be created in certain ways. Or something for the medic to figure out. It's up to you!
Everyone else will work to uncover clues about the murderer. To assist in this, every post I make will contain a hidden clue or a hint that can lead you forward in the roleplay. If you want, you can even communicate with other players outside the actual roleplay thread privately to discuss your ideas you may not want anyone else's eyes or ears on. If you are the murderer YOU MAY NOT reveal your identity to ANYONE, as that would completely ruin the point of the roleplay. Please, I beg of you, don't ruin this for everyone else. - In this roleplay, we're going to be using a post order, to make sure nobody falls behind. You'll be assigned your spot once all of the character applications are submitted. This way, everyone will have a chance to both investigate and read through the other posts before writing their part. However, if someone takes longer than a week we'll continue without them, so as not to disrupt the flow of the roleplay. As soon as the person before you goes, you're free to post whenever.
I would appreciate a fair amount of detail in your writing, it doesn't have to be extreme, but it needs to contribute to the story. No one-liners. A couple paragraphs would be ideal but don't feel pressured if the situation doesn't call for a large amount of writing. Also, I would ask you all to at least have decent grammar, a few mistakes and typos are fine, but if it's unreadable I'm going to have to mention it and ask you to work on it.
Don't fight in the OOC. If you do, I'll give you a warning and if it's extremely bad you'll be removed from the roleplay. However, IC fighting and drama is perfectly fine and simply adds to the fun in my opinion!
Don't ask people if they're the murderer in the OOC. They're not going to be able to answer honestly if they are and it's not worth getting offended over at all. It's better just to avoid this kind of thing in the first place. - It would be wonderful if you could loosely follow this template for creating your character. It doesn't have to be exactly this but there are several things unique to this roleplay that must be included. This is the minimum but adding more is always encouraged!
