  history: noemi vieira was born to charles and ana, two socialite parents who couldn't get enough of the spotlight. the married pair met at canmore, following each other through school and into broadway. almost immediately, they were stars with names constantly thrown around in the art world. noemi would never admit it, but she knew she was a slight mistake - her mother was at the peak of her career when she got pregnant. after having a child, ana and charles decided to move back to the place they met, portland. it wasn't long before they were back on broadway, leaving noemi alone with a nanny for most of her childhood. by the time she was of college age, it was already arranged for her to attend canmore.

  athena finds joy in even the smallest things. she loves the vintage aesthetic that drive-in movies have. to her, there’s nothing better than a good milkshake, especially if it’s strawberry. she enjoys thrifting because she prefers clothes with personality and a little bit of backstory, even if it means she stands out a bit. there’s something about small sunglasses that makes her happy, especially the ones with colorful lenses. more than anything, athena loves to sit on the roof and watches sunrises and sunsets. most of the time she does so by herself, but it’s even more special to share the beautiful experience with someone else.
  
  there’s nothing athena hates more than shallow people, the kind who are too worried about what society and other people think about them. the feeling of being alone with her thoughts terrifies her, so she can’t stand being by herself. because of the struggle she has when trying to focus, she always had trouble reading in school, so, needless to say, she doesn’t enjoy doing so in her free time. she hates when she sleeps in too late because it feels like the day has already started to slip away from her. she feels that if she’s awake, she has to be doing something, so sitting still drives her crazy when she thinks she could be up being productive.

• it was obvious early in her childhood that athena had an artistic gift. her parents were always extremely supportive of her, however they never had the money to send athena to a special school or enroll her in classes to help hone her skills. despite this, athena’s talents blossomed with the help of online tutorials and lots of practice. she always dreamed of one day turning this talent of hers into a career, but she knew that if she wanted to attend a good college, she’d need funds because, given her issues with focusing, she wasn’t the best at school and her grades reflected that. when she turned sixteen, athena got her first job. she worked hard all through high school, and by the time graduation rolled around, she had finally saved up enough money for her to move out and go to canmore, where she would be able to grow as an artist. her parents were sad to see her go, and she hated to leave them, but they were all excited to see what athena would accomplish.
  
  during athena’s freshman year at canmore, she met and befriended beau. the two of them instantly clicked and became good friends. at a party, however, they put their friendship at risk after they’d had a few too many drinks and hooked up in a stranger’s house. afterwards, athena developed feelings for beau, but they were not reciprocated. beau told her that he’d had fun but claimed that it had just been a one-time thing. still, he wanted to remain friends with athena, so, wishing things were how they used to be, athena agreed. but beau was quick to move from girl to girl, and it hurt athena. part of her was jealous, but the other was resentful. for a while, athena was able to hide her bitterness toward beau, but after a while, they drifted apart. because of beau, athena swore off dating, saying that all boys would ever do was use her and break her heart.

history: Julian Rolling was born not too far from Portland on the opposite side of the water. Growing up, his mother was always a house wife and his father was a fisherman. His dad, being the main source of income, was constantly away for work and was always on the boat. When Julian was 12 his father got into a fishing accident which ended up killing him. With his mother out of work, there was no way she could afford to raise her adolescent son. Julian’s mother gave up custody of him to his aunt and uncle who happened to live in Portland. Julian has lived there ever since.


relationship to beau: Beau and Julian were close friends ever since their first year at school. The two shared an Art Appreciation course and were both enthusiastic about arcade games. Quickly the two became close friends. When Beau wasn’t out and about with other friends, him and Julian would kick it at the local arcade and spend hours *and quarters* playing games like Mortal Kombat and TMNT. The two of them slowly grew apart throughout the years due to new friendships though. That was until one-night Julian received a text asking him to meet up at the arcade. The two drank all night and tried beating their previous high scores, it was as if the friends had never drifted apart. The next thing Julian knew, his once best friend was dead.

  |history| Eliza was born in the heart of New York City to second generation immigrants, making her third generation. Her parents parents were renown in their careers as human rights and immigration lawyers, so they were hardly home once Eliza was old enough to speak. She and her sister were mostly raised by their nanny, who hailed from the Dominican Republic like her family. Mr. and Mrs. Hemki appeared once a month for a few years, and even then, most of their attention was given to the oldest Hemki sister due to her promising future as a musical actress.
  
  Most of Eliza's life consisted of being neglected by her parents, but her nanny always treated her like she was her own daughter. She attended all of Eliza's recitals and stayed even after Eliza had to watch her parents leave in the middle of her performances all the time. However, during one of her high school senior recitals, her nanny had a heart attack in the middle of her performance.   Eliza ended up attending Canmore because her sister was a student. Though Eliza saw Nakia as the bane of her existence, she still loved her older sister and admired her. Nakia was also a good sister in her own right, and she never tried to pretend she was better than Eliza. In fact, there were many occasions where Nakia went off on their parents for neglecting Eliza, but unfortunately, nothing came of that. Now Eliza just wants to get through college and pursue something she wants eventually.

unpredictable : diana's not one to easily let people into her life, and even if you're lucky enough to break past her barrier, the chances of you knowing what she's up to are slim to none. although she sticks to a routine most of the time, she loves the thrill of being able to do whatever she pleases, and will often have bursts of impulsivity just for fun.

history : diana had always had an affinity for dancing and creativity at a young age. she took her first ballet lesson the day after her fourth birthday, her parents looking for somewhere to drop her off during work. to their surprise, and unbeknownst to her, diana was picking up things ten times faster than the older girls. she was a natural, and she loved doing it. when she wasn't at the studio, she was in front of the tv playfully practicing the things that she'd learned. over the years, diana went through the motions, staying focused on school and doing what she needed to do, but the goal for her was always to become a professional dancer. after some begging at the end of her senior year, diana's parents gave in and eventually gave her the blessing to go to calmore, one of her dream schools.

relationship to beau : in the time that they'd spent together at canmore, diana and beau rarely crossed paths, only ever giving half-hearted smiles in the hallways and asking for pens. everything changed for the two, though, nearing the end of their second year and the start of exams. diana, needing some extra money for a good new pair of pointe shoes, plastered a few english tutoring ads across campus. beau happened to need some help, and the two of them met for an hour in the evening, every day for two weeks straight. suddenly, exams were coming the next day, and the last time that diana figured that they would ever talk to each other again. however, out of the blue, there came a kiss- and then some more. she figured it was just a one time fling, what with his reputation, but over the summer, the two 'met up' a questionable amount of times. they had an agreement in those few months, hooking up every now and then in secret, and then going their separate ways, no strings attatched. no one but her and beau knew about the two of them- at least, to their knowledge.

loyal - although loyalty is a double-edged sword in the hands of elton, the amount of faith he has in the people he trusts takes accusations from hell itself to break. his entire identity is practically built around the essence of trust, with it being his barricade. his trust comes in the form of a dagger, those who wield it can plunge it into his back but until they lose grip, the dagger is still their's to keep. although his loyalty could be described to be biased and blind, it's the best way for him to show appreciation to the people who stick by his side. to choose the opposing side over a friend's gives elton a bitter taste of shame in his mouth.

observant - always being stuck in a corner at parties sorta just gives you an eye for detail sometimes, and as an instrumental major where you have to be at par with the atmosphere of a performance doesn't help either. he's always had a sixth sense where he could read people's emotions, even when they weren't openly showing it and he almost always knows when people are upset and need a talk or two. if a fight's about to happen, elton probably has already left the area seconds before it starts, sensing the tension beforehand. his observation skills also work well in noticing the little things people normally overlook, it makes him a wizard in those "where's waldo?" games.

patient - there's no trouble in waiting in the eyes of elton, he lives by the guidance-counselor-level-of-cheesy quote, "good things come to those who wait". throughout his entire life, he has been subjected to delays and sudden changes of schedule, and it never seemed to bother him, the worst reaction you'd get would be a small sigh before he just shrugs the feeling off. this is the same in regards to situations involving people, he would never urge them to skip through details or to hurry in their part of a project. it's never been a problem and he would just tell them to take their time and patiently wait for the result. he believes in trusting the process, progress isn't a straight path after all, if there's a road bump he'd welcome the detour with a smile.

naive - due to elton's naivety, it's easy for others to just walk all over him. he's oblivious to the point where it's pitiful. he'd make assignments for people and even give them money for lunch if they'd ask him politely. and though he is a well-rounded student, others get the impression that he lacks experience in some way, his genuine concern for others (even if they have a history of being total arses) is weirdly innocent to the extent where it's suspicious. whether he's naive and lacks better judgement or just forces himself to turn a blind eye is a mystery.

people-pleaser - all his life, elton has always wanted to be part of something, be around people that make him feel like he belongs. is it counter-intuitive for him to bend over backwards for him to get the sense of belonging? yes. but heaven knows he'll do it anyway. the euphoria he gets from receiving praise and validation is what keeps him going, and he'd do almost anything to get positive remarks from people. with expectations leering down at him from professors and classmates alike, he aims to reach them all, even if it'll burn him out in the long run. at the end of the day he wants to be relied on, and to meet others' expectations, he's always going to be the first person to volunteer for extra-credit or pet-sit for someone.

emotion-driven - emotions were always the achille's heel of elton. it's not relatively a bad thing but when it overcomes all known logic he has, it's like watching a tornado break loose. no matter how much he tries to bottle up his feelings it always builds up to the point where he just breaks. it's a part of him that he tries not to show to the public eye, but he'd be lying if he said that all the splinters he got was from playing his guitar rather than smashing a chair. it's easy for him to be swayed in making decisions solely by how he feels, making him impulsive. being guilt-tripped and riled up is a natural occurrence for him unfortunately.

elton grew up in portland, not that anyone would know. he went by a dead name at the time and even then as a kid he shied away from the spotlight. his parents were a couple of hippies who went by the names of harmony and phoenix (where in actuality, their real names were helen smith and peter de loughrey), he spent a majority of his childhood living in a crusty old van with his mother braiding flowers into his hair while his father talked about the beauties of nature and smoked pot. it was a simpler chapter of his life then, making friends like any kindergartner would and just enjoying the innocence of youth. that chapter quickly turned to a close when elton was forced to wear one of his mother's old dresses for the day while his father went on a laundry run and was so distressed at the predicament that he couldn't stop crying. he rarely ever cried as a kid and it concerned his parents. it wasn't long after when he told his parents about his troubles that they rounded up their things and drove off to the nearest child psychologist (which was admittedly, quite far) they had to move away from the small fishing town to the bustling city to begin elton's journey of transitioning, his parents even had to give up their wild child lifestyle to find jobs. it was in the city where he discovered his love for music, when their small apartment came with a TV and the first channel it turned to was a live performance of elton john, he was hooked. there was no look of shock on either of his parents' faces when he told them the official name he wanted to go by and that he wanted to learn how to play the piano. it took some time, but by his twelfth birthday he got a second hand keyboard and quickly began practicing. the hobby quickly evolved into something bigger, wanting to pursue music (though unlike elton john, playing music in the background, away from the audience's attention was more his scene). and thanks to the pocket change he'd save in an old pickle jar, he was able to buy and learn how to play more than the piano. with above-average grades and impeccable talent, it was to no one's surprise but his own when he actually got accepted into camson. excitement slowly turned into reluctance when it finally dawned on him that he had to go back to the small town of portland, see old faces, and probably need to explain, well, everything. his parents insisted on him going at the end, camson was prestigious after all and it's been more than a decade.

it all started during one of elton's walks along the dock. elton barely knew anything about beau, he was popular and the girls on campus would kill to be with him, generally the exact opposite of elton. and besides the minimal information he had, the man avoided him like the plague. but there was something about that night, when he saw beau in tears beside the rusty fishing boats docked within the waters, it was almost out of instinct that elton walked up to talk to him, all of his previous impressions of him was thrown out the window. whatever came over elton was probably the same thing that came over beau because when the instrumental major walked up to him with eyes filled with concern and an awkward smile, he let elton sit next to him, talk to him, and even allowed himself to cry in front of him. it was there, elton saw a whole new perspective of the theater major, the true version of him (or he assumes). from then on they would meet up whenever beau texted him, their friendship was built on a foundation of elton consoling beau, being the shoulder to cry on when things got too heavy for him. and although they never tried to hang out on campus "we're both so busy doing our own thing" he'd say to himself, he's seen a side of beau that no one else has, and in his eyes it just proved that their friendship was mutual. elton just knew that they were always looking out for each other, even when it was clear as a summer's day that beau wasn't. alas, people are blind when they're injected with all-too-innocent puppy love.

  mark and sophie everhart were an unlikely pair. sophie, a chemist working in research had recently transferred from the belgian branch of a pharmaceutical company when she had met mark in the employee cafeteria at her company. mark was in the accounting department and had forgotten to bring his lunch from home that day. the pair ended up eating together and sparking a friendship. it took quite some time for their romantic feelings to develop, though they did end up marrying not too long after they had began their relationship, a total of six years since their first meeting. their first child, sam, was born three years later with nick following the year after. josie, their final child, and only daughter, made her appearance four years after nick, completing the family. her entry into the world was complicated and difficult as she was born several weeks early. thankfully, she was otherwise healthy except for her lungs not being fully developed. she was finally released from the hospital after a couple weeks of observation, though she has since dealt with severe asthma.
  
  coming from a french-speaking region of belgium, sophie made sure to raise the children bilingually, so they could communicate effectively with her family when they visited. the children spent each summer with their mother’s family in belgium, having a close relationship with their grandparents and cousins. while mark had no cultural knowledge to pass on to the children, he did have a love for music. it was his true passion, though he never pursued it outside of a personal hobby. wanting his kids to be well rounded, he encouraged them to take piano lessons, though josie was the only one who stuck with it. sam was more athletically driven and nick was academic and they quit early on to keep up with their interests. josie wasn't particularly gifted at the piano like her father, but she discovered her love of music, which her father shared, through these lessons.
  
  her gift for singing, however, was unmatched in her family. they really don’t know where she got it from, since her brothers were terrible and her parents could carry a tune at best. it was discovered by chance during preparation for a musical in middle school. each student had to sing for the music teacher to fill the solo roles. to everyone's surprise, josie was cast as a lead. something she had not expected as she’s never really sang before outside of singing along to the radio. yet her talent was clear, and she enjoyed performing. josie never stuck with theatre, as dancing and acting were nothing more than mediocre. so, she began writing her own songs.
  
  her parents encouraged her creativity, attending her chorus performances and recitals, despite how painfully boring they usually were. once she got to high school, she began really delving into her songwriting, performing more at open mics and posting her songs online (though she never really had a very big following). interestingly, she chose to write a lot of her songs in french. partially, because it set her apart from the others and to connect with a part of her life she rarely gets to explore, but also because nobody could critique and try and get her to change what she wrote if they could not understand it. they just had to focus on her vocal performance on its own.
  
  tragedy struck josie’s sophomore year. nick, in his second year of college, got hit by a car walking back from class. he was in a medically induced coma for three weeks before ultimately succumbing to his injuries. though josie was not the closest with either of her brothers because of their age difference, she was devastated. it crushed her even more to see her parents so completely heartbroken. it was a dark time for the family, the only benefit was that it brought everyone closer together. the effects are long lasting, josie still having days where she still feels consumed by grief, especially now that she is reaching milestones her brother will never be able to. she has written several songs to deal with what had happened to her brother, but she can never quite bring herself to show them to anyone, even her parents.
  
  she jumped at the opportunity to attend canmore academy. deciding to be a choral major was quite easy. she was nowhere near good enough to be an instrumental major as her piano skills were nothing above average. though her mother, a practical woman, hoped she would focus on something a bit more realistic than singing and keep it to the side like her father did with his piano playing. though she felt that, she remained supportive of josie’s choice. with a bit of reluctance and a tiny bit of fear after what happened to nick, her parents let their final bird leave the nest and let josie follow her heart at canmore.

meddlesome: for someone who's not a theater major, montgomery sure likes hearing about drama. he has a major weakness for fresh gossip, and on occasion likes to stir things up by dropping the right hints to the right people.

history: montgomery was born and raised in the catskill mountains, where the hart estate and winery has stood for generations. his father was a shrewd businessman, one who reorganized things so that the winery's future owner wouldn't need to involve himself too much in the nuances of the operations. This freed Montgomery up to pursue his talents, and though there were a fair few subjects he showed promise at, it was english where he truly excelled. between slightly-above average grades and a very-above average budget, montgomery had his pick of colleges. he went with canmore, where he's majoring in language with a concentration in classic poetry.

connection to beau: it started, as it so often does, in first year. With a long background of sewing and tailoring his own clothes, Montgomery nabbed a work-study job with the theatre department, fitting the performers and altering their costumes. Beaumonte's role called for a fair few costume changes that year and once he caught Montgomery's eye, the two grew rather close. Montgomery was always careful to keep his distance from Beau in public, lest rumors start to spread, but in private, he was a sort of a confidant. they'd meet between rehearsals, swap a few quiet jokes during scene changes... Montgomery even came over with a bottle of schnapps after Beau showed up sporting a black eye and a miserable look. Of course, Montgomery would never breathe a word of what was said or done behind closed doors- a gentleman never tells, after all. history (tw for abuse & drugs) much of celestia's early life should be a mystery, but it isn't: one magazine interview with her adoptive parents reveals that her biological mother was a teenage prostitute. she did her best to care for celestia when she was born, but began using and ultimately died very prematurely. enter the van burens, a pair of incredibly wealthy socialites hellbent on self-serving philanthropy. they adopted celestia to add her to their collection of adopted children, each with a backstory more tragic than the last.
celestia was little more than a prop, a doll in her parents' perfect house. she was the second daughter they adopted, and their fifth child overall: they forced her into the performing arts, a logical step in their mind as it was one career path they were yet to have a child explore. she had a distant relationship with most of her siblings growing up, especially her sister, who went to boarding school in switzerland. it was her eldest brother, three years her senior, who would impact celestia's childhood the most.
the prodigal son and the first to be chosen, perseus became celestia's very best friend. he was obsessed with her, and her with him, and they were rarely seen apart. only when celestia began highschool and started to gain independence did pereus panic. he didn't enjoy her new freedoms, her budding social life, the fact she didn't pay him as much attention. this was when he developed munchausen's syndrome. it was an effective move-- believing her brother to be gravely ill and fragile, celestia lost much of her highschool career to caring for him, often abandoning lessons and social commitments to hurry home when he felt he'd taken a turn for the worse. she became his caregiver, even volunteering to stay home from a family holiday when she was sixteen to keep perseus -- who claimed to be unable to fly -- company. the empty house gave him the opportunity he needed to confess his feelings to her, and when she didn't reciprocate, to [redacted].
theatre, which celestia had resented for so long, became a solace. she relished the chance to be someone, anyone, besides herself. her parents continued to adopt, forcing their prized family before any camera that wanted to hear their story, and celestia played her part-- the doe-eyed, grateful little orphan.
canmore became a place to call home. her escape, at last.
relationship to beau as one of the most talented and beloved female theatre majors, celestia quickly shot to the top of every cast list. she worked with beau on many occasions, playing everything from his sister to his love interest. the two became close, or so she thought-- close enough for her to break down one night and divulge the story of her life, the story that no magazine or blog would ever publish. the truth. only the truth hurts, and she became concerned that she'd made a mistake in finally opening up.
