ZaG! Questions and Concerns. [Zoinks, A Gjaum!]

Didn't mean blasting them as in physical damage. I meant blasting them with hurling criticism and invective sat them.

I'll keep an eye on what is going on, but I am not one of those that can post 3-4 times a day. I'll Ned to pack all my actions into single posts.

It's all good, Soy. Post when you can.

Also, damn, Frixz. I assume that Vasoline is a master of the "Dick-Punch" school of Sambo?

That feeling when you accutely notice the death flag options slowly starting to rear their heads.

When in doubt, get the hell out. Just don't go to murder central when it's swarming with cultists. Without party members anyways.

gargleblarg ,__,

I frittered away my night away, I'll post in the future I promise D=

I'm just kinda deliberating where and how to come in. Possibly gonna try to get Aki into my claws hands, and escort her to the nurse's office and save senpai the trouble.

Might happen to whisper a few words over how worryingly pathetic that little display with the little kid was, maybe a few veiled threats if actions aren't taken to correct the balance of power. After all, a murder just happened near school. Who is to say some other tragedy might occur, eh Aki? n_n

It's fine, Alice.

Also, I realized I forgot something. If you enter the scene, you have to increase your Encroach by 1d10.

So, Frixz, Solyflair, and Replay, you need to add that to your Encroach.

*Rolls, gets a 3* I am not feeling very encroach at all today actually. V:

Iirc at the end of the scene we roll for our number of lois for encroach to go down (if over 100), and at scene end if we're not at 101+ or dead our encroach and health returns to normal.

Actually, it's not at the end of each scene, it is at the end of each scenario. So if you jump into a lot of scenes and use your powers a lot, you could be big into the encroachment rate.

And you can roll your Lois-es, or 2x for a lower XP amount. And you can give up all XP and roll again, if you need to.

But the good part is, if you get below 100%, then your encroachment goes back down to your Base Encroachment Rate.

Oops, geez. Thanks for clarifying that, Soly. You also are talking to Tatsumaki-sensei in the main thread, too.

*Stirs the plot. Adds salt*

Suddenly I do exceedingly well on my knowing things rolls. And karma strikes vasoline hard on encroachment.

Do 10s explode on encroachment? I don't think so, but just asking. I have been cherry picking the rules I am reading until I have a better concept of the game.

I see no mention of that. So it should be safe to assume if you roll at the end of every scenario instead of scene that 10s don't explode on encroachment. Otherwise you could in one scene have to reroll and pray dice don't bend you over the table.

Edit: On that note going over the rules again I'm wondering about potential alternatives to the rules. From what I can see they tend to assume you're playing live and the scenario ends with the session. Which is admittedly completely feasible if you do a standard 4 hour game or two sessions. Not sure how well that will carry over in pbp. Since if we say every thread is a scene and go through 10 threads it's possible to lose the character to encroachment without ever using powers and meeting exactly 1 strong foe. Assuming you have a bad luck streak of 10s every thread. Usually, play by post never moves as fast as a live session. Unless something is horribly, horribly wrong with the session.

Something to think on and keep in mind as we learn the game I guess.

I would say no, otherwise one bad roll could potentially lead to a Gjaum'd character.

Your concerns are also something I've been thinking about myself as well, Replay, and the best I can come up with is "Natural turning points in the story will be when a scene ends." I'll say when I think a scene ought to end, and after about 5-7 scenes, I'll call the session. However, I'm open to any alternatives, if you all think of any.

From my reading, it seems like you don't pick up too much encroachment from just RPing. Where you climb really fast is in combat, where you use a lot of powers very rapidly. You could get 50 encroachment in one combat, if it was a big combat. Small combats that quickly introduce a threat could be 10-15 encroachment. So running a bunch of scenes and a small combat could be as high as 4-5 scenes and a large combat.

I would think of it like your standard 25 min anime episode. Have a short preamble. Then an event leading into a storyline. Then a scene or two where you follow leads, maybe a small combat. Then the climax with possibly a larger fight, or two smaller ones. And the a finale which hints at the next step. You would have 5d10 in scene encroachment (ave 27), and 2-3 combats (running maybe 50). That would regularly put us at base+80. Then roll your Lois 3-7 dice to drop back down under 100. My math would put me around 113-118, so depending on my ending Lois, I could regularly make it unless I roll badly.

Man, Soly, I want you in my group when we play Exalted with newbies. Your explanations are all so clear and succinct. That is my understanding of how the system is supposed to work, too. My one concern is that the PbP nature of our game may drag certain scenes for a while, while making others super-fast. Well, I guess we'll figure it out all together, then.

But we haven't even gone full Tarantino yet!

Will resume the plot hook hunt and speaking with the ill after I manage to get things settled today. Been one of those days where trouble finds you in bed and it escalates from there.

You want me to go full Tarantino?

Also, Alice, you gonna enter this scene? If not, that's cool. You can keep your Encroach down that way.

My days of work are done for now @_@ So I plan on catching up on what's happened in the thread and throwing -something- in tomorrow.

WE MUST REACH CRITICAL ENCROACHMENT, BECOME ALL THE NIGHTMARE FUEL

And promised post down. Sorry for the lack of content or adding to the scene. Been a long day and in the zone where it's hard to get anything out.

Come, join us in the infirmary gangrel delinquent chan! and nah, I'm fine with this not going full Tarantino. Just half asleep mind not following up on a joke about censoring and late night slots. It's been a long day.

Okaaaaaaayyyyyy.....

A little bad luck followed by a bit of good luck. And we have a berserk 14 year old turning the air around her into a weapon that could kill most of us.

The numbers are right. Just not sure if I actually hit the creature, but rolled damage anyway.

Too bad that Akiko didn't get a chance to be normal for long.

Accuracy is one thing, being able to defend/dodge is another. Wendigo made his dodge roll, as he beat your accuracy roll.

Also, it seems I was supposed to set a difficulty for Impulse rolls. Oops. Since the book suggests it, unless said otherwise, I'll go with Difficulty 9 for them. Which means, if you want to, you can opt to not be berserk if you don't want to, as your roll succeeded at that difficulty, Solyrflair.
