The Beginning

The mutants had always had small disagreement, but nothing that couldn't be solved with small negotiations. Professor Charles Xavier and his prestigious School for Gifted Youngsters were an example that not all Mutants were set for destruction. As time continued it was shown in various ways that Mutants could be trusted, and the Government began to work with Organizations led by people like Beast to improve areas for the Gifted and to develop more programs for younger students to improve their opportunities instead of taking the negative intake on things like restrictions. However, there were still small underground groups that sought to diminish every aspect of respect amongst the Humans towards the Mutants. Small and low numbers of hate crimes began to rise, slowly but surely. Although everything was running smoothly on the TV Appearances, things were slowly starting to crumble. The spark? The Professor's Death.

The Downfall

The death of Professor X was a blow on the entire Mutant population. He had been the glue that was holding the entire equality factor together. Without him, it was just a matter of time before pillars collapsed. Jean Grey had tried to continue his legacy, taking over his schedule and affairs while renaming the previous school Jean Grey's Institute for Higher Learning. However, no one was as capable as Charles himself, and it was coming clear just how unstable the situations were becoming. One of the most significant hate crimes was the crucifixion of Kurt Wagner, who had previously been apart of the Legendary X-Men. After that, Jean and the others expected there to be actions by the Government, but there was none. Outraged, crimes against humans from mutants also began. This was the beginning of the complete end. Followed by this event were many more acts of serious crime against people well known such as Rogue, Banshee, Ice Man, and others whom had also been apart of other groups such as the Avengers.

WWIII: The Super Wars

This was probably the worst thing that could have ever occurred. It was a massive war, worse than anything that anyone could have ever imagined. The Government completely turned on the Mutants they'd so greatly been protecting in a matter of days. The war lasted approximately 5 years, and although important people such as Tony Stark and S.H.I.E.L.D as well as the Avengers tried to fight back, the Government brought the use of the newly modified Sentinels. Even the strongest of the X-Men were no match against these machines. Ultimately, most of the powerful and well-known were either killed, imprisoned, or went MIA. It was the beginning of the Dark Days. The mutants and superheroes were defeated, and all others were punished in all ways for turning on their countries not only in the U.S.A but all around the World. Some places were more strict than others on their policies.

The Dark Days

After the war ended, Mutants were seen as scum. A great hatred was held within the Humans for any and all Mutants, with the exception of the small few. Our kinds were forced to provide a blood sample and prints as well as a mandatory registry. All were to surrender to prison if their mutations or powers were all too strong. It was a violation of human rights, although everyone else didn't see it that way. People like Gambit and Sabertooth are believed to be imprisoned in a high security prison somewhere in a lonesome island. Of course, not everyone surrendered. There are still mutants that avoided registration and took flight on the darker paths, went rogue. Organizations such as S.H.I.E.L.D that once served to protect now serve to track rogue mutants because even if you think no one is watching you... someone always is. The Rogues live a tough life, never staying too long in one place, and never giving their true identity. They are ghosts that hide underground for the most part. Then there are the unofficial X-Men that surfaced were a group of misfits, fighting against those trying to kill off more mutants, yet not exactly vigilantes of violence. They even had an interruption through panels in Time Square and other places like Tokyo. The X-Men emblem appeared for a slight 10 seconds with the message You are not Alone before it faded. Now, we must take back what was ours or die trying.
