duke jones. ❞
the return of the thin white duke
throwing darts in lovers' eyes
❝ cursory information. ❞
full name— david robert jones.

nickname(s)— the duke.
gender— male.
age— 31
sexuality— bisexual.
d.o.b.— january 20th, 1943 - aquarius.
f.c.— david bowie, circa 1975

❝ personality. ❞

Duke takes in the world for what it is and what it's worth, appreciating little. Some may see him as cold and judgemental, but that may just be a side effect of the cocaine. He is analytical, making constant mental notes of those who he interacts with, and how is he seen by others - his outward representation is constantly on his mind. His ego is so severely inflated to the point of damage; he ends up reminding himself and others on a daily basis that he could easily drop everything, walk downtown, and have anyone scream for his autograph. He tries to take things slow, at his own pace, doing what is comfortable. He doesn't remember life before becoming famous - he would be a shell of a man without it. He certainly embraces the "pained artist" aesthetic, but is also very powerful, knowing that he has connections with the most famous of the famous and has control of The Followers in his palm. He knows that the band would be nothing without him.
On the other hand, when things aren't all venomous words or business, those who he's able to console are rather close to his heart. Not necessarily the "fatherly figure", he is an old and wise soul, and enjoys lending advice to those willing to take it from him. He greatly admires long, philosophical conversations over a drink.

❝ likes/dislikes. ❞

likes— relieving his agression through performing, staying up late to watch the summer night's stars, overly fancy and pompous restaurants, buying luxury items he will ultimately never use, vintage cars.

dislikes— having to yell during arguements or debates, flying, disingenuous smiles, quiet waiting rooms, french accents.
mannerisms— grinding his teeth, that judgemental stare landing on you for just a bit too long, cracking his knuckles, playing with cigarettes while they're still lit.

❝ history. ❞

Duke is ever so slightly ashamed to call Los Angeles his home. Born and raised along the coast, he spent his young years mercilessly flip-flopping between art and academics. His parents were both renown professors at the polytechnic university, and treasured intellect above all else. The disconnect, and later rebellion against his parents started when Duke discovered his affinity for music. He continued his studies in business just to make his parents happy, and he succeeded greatly, but it never felt right. Once protests began happening in west Hollywood over the arrival of the Korean War, Duke picked up a job at a locally-owned record store and spent his hours protesting. He became known within the peace activist scene well into the early 60s, and by then, he had picked up plenty of guitars and taught himself how to play. He offered lessons for young teens in the back of the record shop, and recruited more young protestors that way. In the winter of '67 he was introduced to some people who were interested in making a band together, not just for the protests but for the sake of making music, and the rest is history.

❝ relationships. ❞

best friend— subject to change.

enemy— the man, the media.
confidant— subject to change.
lover— definitely subject to change.
mother— delilah king, alive.
father— roald jones, deceased.

[div class=text] Joan is usually quite a happy go, lucky kind of person. She doesn't worry about the consequences as long as the now is going well enough. When the going gets tough, who cares, it'll probably get better, right? Most wonder how she made it this far, but she's honestly just lucky. It's not that she doesn't have survival instincts, she simply chooses to ignore them to make room for whatever simple pleasures that whisk her away that day, whether it's drugs, sex, or the next concert.

She may act dumb at times, but she's quite intelligent or at least books smart and knows people to an extent. Ask her something real, like doing taxes or finding her way to the nearest hospital, and she will draw a blank. She's honest but rarely speaks her mind. She'll talk your ear off, but rarely of herself. It may come off as shallow, but she's not the kind to pick up on that. She's rather gullible.

Above all of that, she's a people person. She lives and breaths conversation and company. It doesn't matter what you talk about; she'll probably have something to say about it and without apology. She'd honestly do anything to spark any kind of connection, however shallow or one-sided. She craves it more than any drug, and she'll do what she can to pull you deeper, to enthrall you. She's not looking for control. She just needs the company because, for her, nothing could be worse than being alone with your thoughts.

[div class=text]Virtues: Caring towards people, can find the good in the worst people
[div class=text]Likes: Conversation, music (playing and listening), the smell of a campfire, hot environments[/div] [div class=text]Dislikes: Newspapers, hardwood chairs & floors, Religious anything[/div] [div class=text]Strengths: Dancing, playing the piano/guitar, survival instincts, optimistic, imaginative, empathetic[/div] [div class=text]Weaknesses: Nieve, physically weak, too willing to please others, lack of confidence[/div] [div class=text]Fears. Snakes, loneliness, needles[/div][/div][/div]
[/div] [div class="tabsContent tabsContentDoes" style="display: none;"][div class=header_two]History:[/div]
[div class=text] Joan was born to a poor small-town preacher. Despite the tensions in the south, the family was able to lead a good life without much hate thrown their way. As Joan grew, she kept to a strict lifestyle. No boys, no music (unless it's gospel), no dancing, no complaints. It was school, church, chores, repeat. Any deviation led to a beating and hours of mandatory prayer to 'save her soul.'

The first time she heard The Followers, she was over the radio while a friend drove her home. Like any secluded hermit would she instantly fell in love with the sound. She'd found her one escape from her parent's constant pressure. She might have been deluding herself, but she felt this music was the key to her freedom or at least feeling free. She went to more parties, started skipping class and church. Her parents threw everything they could at her, but it wasn't enough. As tension grew, she became eventually disowned.

She hitchhiked her way to the tour route of The Followers, finding a group of like-minded people along the way. She could get by pretty well on looks alone, but she was just easy to like. She'd never leave a club without making some new friends along the way. Her life turned into a blur of sex, drugs, and music. The original group that took her in lost her in the crowd some time ago after the last tour. She's been drifting from party to party like a ghost since. People hang around and help out for a while, but she moves on. Now she's made to this party. She made the right friends get in, and maybe tonight will be different. Maybe things will change

—BACKSTORY.
Jennifer Flynn was the only child of Robert and Melissa Flynn. Her mother was your typical housewife and her father was a very successful lawyer who worked for many of the brightest stars. Jen was born and raised in Los Angeles. Throughout her youth, her mother taught her many homemaking skills. It was made clear that the only thing she was expected to be was a housewife, yet as she grew up she longed to be more like her father. She wanted to be successful, respected, taken seriously for once. Her father took notice of this and taught her a bit about law and business, thinking she'd grow out of it. Jen knew that no one took her ambitions seriously, whenever the subject was brought up around her parent's friends they'd laugh and assure her mother that it was just a silly childhood fantasy, but she was determined to prove them all wrong. As she got older, Jen realized business was a boys club and in order to fit in she had to be tough. She grew thick skin and didn't let anyone push her around, that got her some more respect and although her mother still thought is was a phase her father realized how serious she was about this. In her high school years she got an internship at her father's law firm, which gave her career a push forward. She took note of all the stars that her father worked with, and the people who sat next to them who helped them succeed. It was then that she decided that the wanted to be a manager. Her father encouraged her to apply to business school and she got into one of the top colleges in New York. In her collage years she worked hard, getting an internship at an artist management firm in New York. She also became rather involved in the feminist movement, as she believed that women should be able to take on the same careers that men did. In her last year of college, when she was 20, her father passed away. Jen took this hard, he was the only member of her family that ever supported her. Still, she pushed through and finished college at the top of her class. She became tougher than ever with all the criticism and disrespect she had to put up with to be in this business. She was offered a job at a management firm back in L.A, which she took. She proved her aptitude for the business and rose up the ranks rather quickly. She became the manager of The Followers, who rose up to fame, and is now one of the most respected managers in the industry.
