Winter Time

It was a rather cold evening in the small port town west of the capital city, usually this town was know only for it's prime location in the trade industry. Many ships went in and out, delivering and trading good year round and it was the main supply route to the capital city itself, but once a year the town was known for something else, something less serious. It hosted a grand winter festival,  to celebrate the years earnings that they have made. Food stands, games, events and a dance were all apart of this grand event, many from all around traveling there just to spend the evening enjoying themselves and get a break from everyday life.

Yuuki was carrying a candy apple in her hand as she walked around the brightly lit festival, her hair was down for once, the long black strands laying down over her chest as she admired the whole event. She didn't have any of her normal attire on, instead she was wearing a sage green tunic dress, her cloak tied above it in a normal fashion. She thought it be a nice change of pace if she actually dressed like a girl for once. Laughing to herself, she rook a bite of the apple and smiled happily.

It was among the trade booths, stalls and wagons that Julius had always felt his best at. And in this large trade city, he practically felt like a king with the business he was conducting! A bit of magic, a bit of mixing, and a bit of money making described his life's works well, as it did his parents' before him. "You have yourself a nice festival now, you hear?" the human calls with a warm, friendly tone as the young couple walked with their warm, steaming cups of hot chocolate from him. Festivals were practically child's play to know what could work depending on the season. And for this period of time, the red wagon labeled Redgrave's Arcane and Alchemy would be selling some festive stuff of its own to people! Julius was rather pleased that he could make it here a day or two before things had started in order to prepare. Among his usual wares he would also be dabbling in some light holiday foods and beverages, some of them magically enchanted as well. As he leaned forward on the counter he took in the cheery atmosphere and lights everywhere. Maybe when he took a break he would go do some festive stuff around town! His smile was enough to show he was having a fun time, even when at work.

Goal :: Find something new

Charlie had arrived at the festival early enough to purchase her annual goods, and by this time of night she usually felt the holds of sleep taking her mind. However, tonight was special, as she planned to examine the new wagons this year, along with the ones she had never cared to look at before. The bright, cheap lights that were hung half-heartedly along the walls of the alleys were beginning to give Charlie a small headache. Nothing a good snack wouldn't fix.

Through the smells, colors, and crowds of people in the narrow walkway, one wagon stood out to the blue-skinned lady. Redgrave's Arcane and Alchemy caught her eye. Her heavy tail whipped around has she examined the old wooden exterior from afar. She pushed her way through the crowd, though it wasn't much of a struggle, as her agile form could slip through the cramped crowd in an instant.

And there she stood in front of the wagon, several scents invading her sensitive nose. Honey corn, butter whiskey, and river buns, among others. Though Charlie had never considered tasting these sorts of things, she still advanced forward, examining the man behind the counter.

He had a cheery aura around him, and a hearty smile upon his face. It matched his chiseled chin, and extremely clean hair (which was probably very soft). Charlie approached the stand, staring at the menus and lists of what he sold.

His wagon was disorganized, but a good sort of so, as it gave almost a feel of home to it. She gave a small smile, something the snake-lady rarely did. Her fangs peeked from her mouth, and she examined the interior with narrow, peircing eyes.

Oslo The Hydra

Oslo just arrived at port late at night and upon seeing the bright lights was practically blinded. He rose a hand in front of his sensitive eyes as the many lights, smell of food and crowds of people pummeled his senses. He walked off of the ship slowly entering the port town looking inside many of the shops to see what they had to offer. Occasionally he would stop to take a closer look but otherwise would do his best to weave within the crowd trying to avoid bumping anyone. Just then he heard a grumble from his stomach but he didn't know the town well enough to decide where the best place to eat would be.

To no avail he attempted to get someones attention off to the side of all the crowds. Person by person would pass by as he tried to get their attention and to be honest Oslo wasn't the best with people to start off with anyways. His stomach grumbled again as he sighed about to give up and just eat whatever. He was a particularly picky eater as some sort of side effect for being in his human form so he tried to eat only the best foods.

(On stand by for interaction)

Really, if he ever got around to it he should consider an apprentice or something to keep with demands that this crowd was bringing with them today. Between some of the requests and other things he had found himself among the racks next to where he was standing more than once. Potions, tonics, scrolls, and plants found themselves sharing space with gingerbread cookies, candies, honey corn, cinnamon buns, hot chocolate, and other miscellaneous things that could be consumed quickly. With the hustling and the bustling that had been the last few moments among the crowd in this large marketplace the newcomer to his wagon had nearly caught him by surprise!

Nearly as blue as the ocean water she was, and a small smile adorned her face, going well with an expression of examination and possibly curiosity to go with it! The fang that were just peeking out from her mouth gave a hint of mystery to match with her narrow eyes. Was she some sort of snake-person? Likely so. Given how diverse this place managed to be, he could probably toss five snowballs and get a different race/species every time. What could he do for her today? He would soon be finding out!

"Happy Yule tidings to you, ma'am!" Julius greets with a beaming expression while he slid over on the counter in order to be close for the two of them to be able to hear each other over all the surrounding noises. Now it was time for the pitch. "Julius Redgrave of Redgrave's Arcane and Alchemy at your service! As you can tell, I deal in magic and alchemist things. But for the holidays I'm also serving up treats for the festival. How may I help you?"

As he walked along the somewhat chilled streets Gygax looked around at all the lights and other wintertime things. It had been so long since he had been to a mortal festival, let alone one as big and this! Some excitement and trepedation was nipping at his gut while he looked around at the port town. The last time he celebrated a holiday was before all that stuff happened at the Citadel a thousand or so years ago and resulted in some unpleasant business. This time, he wouldn't be missing a winter festival for anything! Even though some of the others thought him strange for so enjoying and being fond of more mortal things he felt otherwise. Had they lived like him they would understand, not that he blamed them.

Would he attend an event? See how the food had changed over the last few centuries? Maybe dance? The thought was humorous, although it did little but crack a small smile on the heavily armored man's face. Dancing in this plate mail would probably make him have two left feet or something.

His musings were soon interrupted by the sight of someone. It seemed like for whatever reason they were trying to flag people down to no avail? Was somebody in trouble or something? Sometimes the job never ended, though it would warrant no complaints from him.  Gygax approached the man as he made his way through a few clusters of people. "Greetings there!" he called to him as he approached and finally got close. "You look like you're in need of some assistance. May I lend a hand?"

Charlie's eyes swept the wagon a few times over before flicking to the man behind the counter as he proceeded to speak and introduce himself.

"Hello Julius. I am Charlie, though my name may not be remembered by you in the moments after I leave this stand"

Charlie had said her words as articulate as ever. She normally carefully placed her words when speaking, and this instance was no different.

The slitted pupils of her eyes caught on a plant, though there was nothing really special about it. It seemed to be a small sapling, though it looked as old as a regular pine tree. She tilted her head, an action of confusion.

"The tree, as small as its sapling would be. What is that?

She asked, pointing to the oddity.

It was an unfortunate reality that not every name would be remembered forever if the interactions weren't frequent or particularly noteworthy. But a name so simple as hers ought to stick for a little while at least, especially since she stuck out a bit among the others.

So, she had questions about one of the latest of things he had picked up along his travels? He would be more than pleased to sate her curiosity on the little yet old thing. "Oh, the little guy over there eh?" he chuckles a little while he takes a look over to it before turning his head back to Charlie. "That tree originates from a few druid groves up and around the mountain ranges out in the northern tundras of Scosglan. They were originally taken and planted in areas where the Frost Plague had previously wiped out most of the wildlife. Something about the magic infused with the seeds that allowed it to survive the incredibly harsh conditions." he explains to her as some admiration for both the tree and the ingenuity of the druids in his voice. Really, there were amazing things out there when you knew where to look for them!

"But nowadays the need for their original purpose isn't so dire and trading for them is apparently easier than it used to be. A lot of people use them for holiday decoration or just as houseplants. Just don't give it too much water, otherwise the offspring that come afterwards will grow to a normal size for a pine tree."

Winona found herself in the middle of the market, clumsily stumbling over loose cobblestones and unaware bystanders. Her pink hair was a mess of half-curled strands, as it always was. Flowers found themselves about her body, blooming in the cracks of her thighs

Winona, as clumsy and unaware as she was, took her eyes off where she was walking to look at the carnival stand selling honey corn. She inhaled deeply, but as she did so, she stumbled and collapsed under the ground, right next to another girl with an apple in her hand.

She rubbed her head and looked into the girl's eyes, one green and the other blind. She shook her head, disappointed in her actions.

"Terribly sorry miss. Do you need help up?"

Winona asked, offered a hand as she stood up on her powerful legs.

On a bench near the festival sits an old man, forgotten by the crowds.

The man wore respectable looking arcane clothing, and donned a cloak with magic runes on it. However, it was clear that he was blind from the get-go. Around his eyes he wore a thick cloth, and in his old, withered hand he carried an old looking walking cane. He always looked ahead, seemingly at nothing, yet seemingly at everything.

He always enjoyed these events. The smells, the sounds...it reminded him of his youth all those years ago. It was times like these that it saddens him that his eyesight was taken from him.

Charlie found herself tapping her fingers on the counter, eyes peering towards Julius.

"How much for it?" She asked, glancing at the honey corn sitting on the counter, before flicking her eyes back to the plant. It would be a nice gift to a friend, and the honey corn would fill her stomach.

Charlie's heavy tail slapped on the cobblestone, and indication that she was delighted to find something so interesting. Julius' wares were trinkets and oddities that were new to her.

Shura sure was enjoying the festival. You could tell from his happy look. Well, he rather enjoyed the snacks, cause everything he sees another snack wagon, he ran over to it and bought something, even if he was still eating something else. This, however, caused him running around with three candy apples in one hand, a few crepes in the other and a few bones of chicken legs he already finished in his mouth, still chewing on them in hope to get every tiny bit flesh of them.

But he didn't only had eyes for the food. Of course he looked here and there at wagons that sell little gifts. But as a bit of time passed, Shura noticed he should take a seat somewhere to enjoy the snacks he bought properly.

A wide smile could be located on his face while eating a candy apple. "Humans sure have good food!" He said while eating, finishing one apple and already starting with the other.

@anyone

Shura was surprised as an old man gave him an answer to his question that was meant to be rhetorical. He looks at the man before swallowing a piece of an apple to clear his mouth. "Eh... Sorry! I didn't notice you, I can go an sit somewhere else if I'm bothering you." Shura said to the man with a smile and scratching his head with the hand where the three apples where before.

@The Fabulous Emerald

"No, you don't bother me. No-one bothers with blind old men anymore..."

He sounds sad at this.

"It's nice to have company.

"Hmm?" Shura looks a bit shocked as he heard that the man next to him was actually blind. "Oh... well... I didn't knew about that..." Shura keeps scratching his head and the crepes in his hands vanished too. "Well... uhm... so..." Shura sighed and looks a bit annoyed. "Sorry, but I don't know how to start a conversation... I haven't talked to people for a while now..." he said and laughed a bit.

Yuuki wasn't particularly paying close mind to where she was walking. She was just enjoying all the stands and looking at their wares, wondering if there was anything she'd want to buy.  Holding a strand of her hair lightly her golden hue scanned the area for a moment, she had recieved a letter from a friend stating he would be here. She'd like to catch up and possibly buy some stuff from him. Humming softly she took another bite of the candy apple, before she felt herself get hit from the side, well more falling into really.

She stumbled and juggled her apple for a moment before she and the apple fell to the cobblestone road. Frowning, she turned and looked at whoever fell against her and upon seeing them her eyes lit up. The woman was beyond beautiful and such a lovely creature as well. Taking the offer, she was pulled up as she began to dust herself off. "Thank you and no need to apologize, the only harm done was the loss of my apple." She shrugged and gave the woman a polite smile. "Are you here for the festival, you seem a bit clumsy walking these roads. If you go down further the roads even out smoothly."

@Galaxy's Silver Lining

"294... woah..." Shura looks amazed. "No, you're not bothering me! I just don't know what to talk about..." Shura laughed again. "Hmmm..." Shura sniffed the Air. "You're an elf... that explains things..." he said and nodded, rubbing his chin.

@The Fabulous Emerald

Perfect! Regardless of what she would use it for he just hoped it would be satisfactory. It should be though since this little guy was very hardy. With the way her eyes were moving Julius suspected the honey corn was possibly on her to-get list as well. "The little guy will be a gold, and if you like I'll throw in the honey candy for two copper to go along with it." he offers to her. He normally sold it for four but with plant already close to a guaranteed buy there was no problems slashing some prices for a deal.

Hydra had spent all day in the dirty water of the port, she hated salt water and she hated surface walkers polluted salt waters even more. She swam about, keeping herself in the deeper parts of the port awaiting for sunset. This was a meeting spot for when she'd get to see one surface walker that she enjoyed the company with dearly. This was the place the decided to spend the night with each other with andshe looked more forward to it because it would be a full moon tonight, thus granting her the gift of legs so she could travel around the festival with her friend. Once night time came, Hydra swam to the rocks on shore and there she began to glow brightly, her shifting into a human. Standing she climbed the rocks and walked to the nearest clothing shop, her body covered in nothing but kelp.

Winona gave a small smile, happy that the woman was neither harmed nor angry. The centaur combed her fingers through her rose-pink hair, averting the woman's eyesight. "Thank you for your concern, but it seems the more interesting events can be found here!" she responded excitedly, looking around with her large, clear blue eyes. The smell of cinnamon buns found her again, and she inhaled, giving a large smile. "Well, I must repay you for that apple! Why don't I buy you a cinnamon bun in return?" She offered, immediately spotting a nearby stand that would have to do.

Charlie smiled, this time beaming her full set of teeth and fangs alike. "It's a deal!" She replied, shuffling money from her purse and onto the countertop. Something about Julius made her happy, had if his radiant aura pressed onto her, making her feel an emotion she didn't normally experience. She brushed her hair back and out of her face, her tail lazily swinging back and forth behind the counter.
