Fantasy Will You Have Peace? Or War? (Kingdom/empire nation building & management )

I have wanted to create a steampunk/medieval/ww2 sort of RP for quite a while now.


There will be one race which is humans. But magic is allowed, but at the same time, there are some restrictions such as magic is only allowed for the royal families.


A bit of a back story


Valis is on the brink of war once again. Only 200 years ago since the Imperial wars which captured the imagination of the human mind as it became the first war ever where armies would use guns and artilleries. The war evidently engulfed much of Valis and spawned new hostilities and alliances between kingdoms. Amid the destruction and death, a super power emerged victorious. And as the flames of war died down, this empire became the dominant kingdom. This empire Known as the Great Imperial Empire of Z.E.O.N had pushed and expanded through out the main continent, toppling many tiny kingdoms and pushing back several other kingdoms during the Imperial wars. And since then, these past 200 years, the Z.E.O.N Empire stayed dominant and was feared by all. But now, the Great empire is becoming weary and regretful. The Kingdoms that the Z.E.O.N Empire had once unleashed it's mighty military war machines have comeback after 2 centuries of living in ruins of once great cities and empires as new tensions and hostilities begin to stir up. In an effort to calm down the hostilities, the Imperial Emperor, Emperor Carlson Reiuns decided to hand off his sons and daughters to the other kingdoms in hopes of creating peace again.


Most of the kingdoms have complied and are in favour of this deal. But, some are out for vengeance for what the Imperial Empire and some, would rather see war so that they may profit from it.


The RP will take place in The Imperial Empire of Z.E.O.N, the city Zéros. And this is where most of the interactions will take place. Characters will be of royal family related. Families, guards, subjects, etc are also allowed.

This RP will be solely based on the character's actions. The whole world could go to war, or maybe war won't happen and peace will come. You will be controlling not only your own royalty, but also a kingdom. And it's up to you to decide your kingdom's fate.

She is very social and could at times be a bit annoying because of her wanting to make new friends or get to know others. She has a very curious mind and because of this whenever she goes or meets someone new, she immediately wants to know about their religion, culture, customs and anything of that sort. She, like every other Zodiac islikes discrimination of all forms.

Continent: Main Continent. Controls most of the southern and some of the central parts of the Main Continent

Royal magic: Iron


History: The Zodiac Empire was created through centuries of wars. The Zodiac empire was original called the Grand Kingdom of Zodion, which was made up of several tiny countries consisting of The Empire, The Xena Empire, The Zelavia Empire and the imperial state of Exodon. The Empire had fought two wars with the Xena empire. There have been a total of 4 Great war of the Empires and 4 Unification wars. The Empire, at that time began to rise and become the strongest kingdom in the region. The Head of State at that time, King Ferad Zevaz wanted to expand his territory to ensure security but also to lay the foundations for a united empire that will be strong. The first two Great War of the Empires were between The Empire and The Xena Empire. From then on, The Empire was re-organized into the Grand Empire. After the first unification war, which was an atempt by the Xea province to become independent again, The Grand Empire launched an offensive against the other kingdoms that surrounded the nation. This was the start of the thirst great war of the empires. Centuries later, The Zodion Empire and the Grande Empire of Fretiland, the last remaining kingdom began negotiations for unification. Many people of Fertiland were reluctant and after unification, the last Unification war would start. A century later, the Zodion Empire was renamed the Imperial Zodiac empire by Landy Stanns, the youngest President, who completely changed the political system from a royal to an Imperial government.


Behaviour: They value honor, integrity, and honesty above all else. But will defend and attack any who decide to aggravate and provoke.


Military: Being the super power, the Imperial Empire has a massive army, air force and navy. They are all well balanced out but there are tons of surplus stockpiles left in storage.


The trademark colour of the Imperial military is usually light blue. But some soldiers wear dark brown uniforms.


Rescource exports and imports: Iron, metal, fuel, other luxury goods for homes and office buildings are major exports. Crops, trees, fuel, meat are some of it's major imports.

Dude this is still a direct copy of A Fragile Peace.


Oh yea, A Fragile Peace is being rebooted.
 
If you read them side by side, this is A Fragile Peace in WW2. Even the exact wording is the same in some parts
 
Hey, what is the technology level like? I need to know specifics if I am going to make a nation sheet, unfortunately.


 
Also, are democracies not allowed, and what is stopping an intelligent monarch from teaching other people the incredibly useful magics that he or she is privy to? I for one would want all my soldiers to know how to "Iron Magic", so why is it not allowed? Whatever that reason might be, it is going to factor into my nation sheet heavily.


 
Also, I reread, but couldn't find an answer to this question: are we meant to be making nations that are based on other pieces of fiction? Z.E.O.N. not only shares a name, but a flag and parts of an ideology with Gundam Zeon, so should I rip parts of fiction unceremoniously into my prospective nation? Or is it just name and a flag?
 
Ok good, I don't want to do take names or flags from other IP because it rips apart my suspension of disbelief. Can I have the answer to those other questions?

If you want a democracy then it's fine. It'svondidered as a high privilege so ordinary people are not allowed.

Royal magic: Corrosion- Special Military officers are trained with corrosive magic

History: Arstotzka was founded by Grand Prince his majesty, Alexander of Tourtillion the spectacular, grand savior of the Arstozkan people. The first subject to shorten his title was beheaded. Since then, Arstotzkan leaders have been oppressing it's people. Because of this, rebels frequently sprung up. The most famous of the rebel attacks was the Kolechian Invasion of Masique, the Eastern half of Arstotzka was turned sovereign for half a century of constant before finally surrendering. Now, Nikolai has been crowned Grand Prince, his first action was to establish a consulate to slowly restore democratic power. Many rebels still remain, it is a rarity for there to be less than three assassination attempts every month.

jesus tapdancing christ, first we have Zeon, now we have Arstotka! This game is going to be impossible to take seriously.


For clarification, I thought the magic was about control of elements ["What element based magic does your kingdom's royal family possess?"]. Did I misinterpret this and is Corrosion fine? I assume so, and I have no problem with the word element meaning something other than periodical elements, but if so, what exactly is an 'element' here.
 
The thing that made me think "actual elements" was when the GM posted his sheet and it had Iron as his element.
 
In A Fragile Peace(what this is basically copied from), elements were like natural elements, water, fire, light, shadow, lightning, etc.
 
God I would hate that. "Shadow" especially would really piss me off, seeing as it makes less than 0 sense, and lightning would be so unbelievably overpowered there would be no point in anything else. I really like the actual elements thing so far, but GM may say that is not how it works.


 
Or it would be entirely useless, actually, if we are paying attention to conservation of energy and people are causing the magic with their own chemical energy

I think you expect far too much realism from magic dude.
 
Things have to make sense for me, or at least be internally consistent, because otherwise it is impossible for a player to know the boundaries of reality and know what does what, at least for me. In addition, magic not working with the laws of physics means that we need new laws of physics, and they need to be explained and need to be internally consistent, which will make the universe entirely unrecognizable to players, which is not fun for me, seeing as I would need to do so much math and think so hard to understand it and its ramifications.


Shadow makes no sense because shadow is the absence of reflected photons. Light magicians would be able to create shadows if they can manipulate light. Shadow magic also seems almost entirely pointless, or atleast rediculously situational, regardless of their overlap with light.


I think you set your standards for magic too low, but that's just me.

Perhaps Shadow magicians are actually light magicians who are really fucking moody all the time?
 
That's actually just a personal preference of yours then.


And I believe your knowledge of shadow magic to be a bit incomplete.


Think of shadow as umbrakinesis.


And no, I don't set standards for magic. It's a fictional creation with a vast meaning that spans many fictional creations. It's honestly too big for me to set a standard on it in my opinion because it's something that basis varies per person.


 
Honestly this is a discussion based completely on opinions and I don't see any happy ending for me here. I just suggest we drop the subject.
