The Piercing Mountain blocks Gento, "the Melting Pot" kingdom from its Western neighbor Fluoresce. As such, the angel and fae migraters from Fluoresce like to live in the towns that graze the mountain for it makes them feel closer to home. In this area of Gento you can also find a few humans scattered about. This side of Gento is called "Heaven" - a reference to the townee's way of life.

People usually come to this side of Gento for the moderately peaceful atmosphere it provides, it's more of a homely place- not much scuffle or bustle. You'll typically find homes here filled to the brim with large families and smiles. The same though, cannot be said for the heart of Gento.

The "Rose", also known as Gento's heart is a place of knowledge, ambition, and of course, deceit. Gento's heart got its name for its unrivaled chiseled beauty. It's prim and proper exterior. Sleek pathways and lively merchant areas, the Rose is a beaut, at face value. During the night though, rose thorns show. Shady deals are made, illegal items are sold, and the advisors have their "secret" meetings. Whilst the "Rose" is better known for its book and flower shops not to mention it's fashion, it's also known for it's Arena. The arena is the name of a school which has classes in all sort of fighting and magic. Those who go to this school are usually recruited by the military soon after graduation. If not, they become mercenaries for nobility or anyone who has money. In all, Gento's heart is a lovely place which has its pros and cons.

On the Eastern part of Gento you have, "The Virgin Lands" where you'll see a majority of your Dragons as well as a few Mer and a couple of Angels. Here, is similar to "Heaven". Just one slight difference, The Virgin Land's townees are said to hold their customs and beliefs in high respect. Why? Because a few miles away from the town, in the unclaimed lands near Korno lies the "Roaring Volcano." In the town, however, there's the other reason for their beliefs. The "Cave of Blinding Light."

In all, Gento, the Melting Pot of Zylo is a place of diversity, belief, ambition, and adventure. Welcome to the Heart of the World.

Chill radiated through his entire being.
Which was strange because the only thing his mind seemed to be capable of showing him was that of his beloved’s face. Her fiery red curls, the warmth in her brown skin, her devious smile, the charming way her lip curled whenever he said something of particular stupidity. The charming way she laid down her godliness for his safety. Her face was frozen in his mind but the feelings playing on repeat in his chest confused him. The usual feelings he would have when looking upon her would be that of endearment, appreciation, love. But now it was only negatives. Shock, fear, desperation. Logically, he kept expecting the next step to be anger. But the shock was seeped into every fibre of his being, so much that he couldn’t even remember what it felt like to have shock give way to anger.
Every once in a while, her face would give way to flame. Not that this was unusual, she was the embodiment. But this was different. Her anger was so palpable, so vicious in the way it marred her beautiful expression into something terrifying. Kaia had never been so floored by the unpredictability of a facial expression. But with the anxiety came the fire. It seemed to be the only thing that could warm him. And he was always so cold. He’d been cold since… How long had he been staring at her face?
He used to always tell her that he could look at her for eternity, but this really had been quite a long time…
He’d truly rather be looking at her real face. When was the last time he saw her? He couldn’t remember anything.

And suddenly his mind was filled with everything he ever created. Plants and animals floating and crawling around the world. Gorgeous white sand; made even more beautiful by the light that filtered through the surface of his world and enhanced every particle. He felt his ears twitch with the giggling of mermaids thousands of miles from where he was. That was the first sign of a physical form in what felt like a millennium. Or maybe two.
It was then that he realized this wasn’t memory. This was sight.
As soon as that thought crossed his mind, Seraphine was gone and the confusion he’d been postponing hit him all at once. It almost knocked the wind out of him.
He jolted into a sitting position, the spines on his forearms flared out and bristling. His chest seemed to be vibrating from the exhilaration of movement and he couldn’t stop hyperventilating even though his body could do nothing with the air his gills processed. In an attempt to release the tension steadily filling his body, he squeezed his eyes shut and screamed. Something produced from a place of such confusion and anxiety usually would be enough to destroy entire islands.
But nothing happened.
His eyes opened slowly, expecting to find his beautiful ecosystem demolished. But it was flourishing, as it had been before he awoke. Something was terribly wrong. He tried to gather the water underneath his palms, so he could push himself off the sea floor, but the molecules didn’t respond to his abilities.
He resorted to more human methods of expression.
“What the fuck, what the fuck, what the FUCK!”

Ember had snuck out of the large, illustrious palace late the night before, not having a particular destination as her feet hit the cool, late-night grass, slightly illuminated by the pale moon, she could hear the quiet murmur of the human villages across the war-torn border, the curious princess had wandered into the village, meaning only to look around, but she soon she became to curious and a large group of towns-folk cornered the lass with a set of chains, constructed by a nearby allied village that is made to capture dragons, the townsfolk managed to distract her and get the chain around the girl before she could notice and overpower them, with a roar almost equally as mighty as that of a full-grown, shifted dragon, the townsfolk then scurried away from the girl as the pain of shifting engulfed her and she became the mighty beast that people both feared and adored, her roar became slightly panicked and desperate and eventually wore thin and faint as she gave up hope and sat, staring up at the moon until dawn approached and she made peace with the fact that the curious princess would probably never be free "oh well" she mumbled to herself and curled up

Eternal Inferno
In the middle of the unclaimed land near Korno shook the infamous, "Roaring Volcano." Around it, played out natural chaos. The miniature forests that surrounded the colossal mass of black and dark brown rock were covered in ash that was spewing from the mouth of the shaking, breaking, and ready to blow volcano. Though wildlife was running around in stampedes, making ungodly sounds of terror whilst in their attempt to flee, their noise was overshadowed by earthly rumbles that shook the very land they ran on. The veiny cracks that laced the volcano grew in size and glowed, eager to release their contents whilst the top of the volcano seemed to be moving. Soon, lava oozed out the cracks, releasing vile smells when it reached the forest floor - burning and killing everything it landed on. For a moment or two, that's all the volcano did, ooze. But the life surrounding knew better, even after the rumbling ceased. Soon after a long eerie false moment of peace, the volcano began to shake violently. It began to burp, spewing ash, and unbreathable smoke into the air once again. Within minutes, the surrounding sky was dinged a solemn grey. Lava sprayed out the mouth of the volcano in waves, it's base shivering and cracking, unable to keep up with the force of its contents. Abruptly large pieces from the side of the volcano fell and tumbled off. The volcano began to lose width and gain height. It began to shape. The more the volcano morphed the more damage the surrounding area became. Lava rivers were forming by the dozen, leaking from this "volcano". With a loud crash and tremor that uprooted the stumps that use to be trees, a humanoid glowing colossal pillar of fire and lava took form. Seraphine.

the large beast of a girl heard commotion that managed to rouse her from her slumber, her eyes slowly opened and she gazed upon the errpting volcano not to far off in the distance "SHIT! KORNO" She shouted/roared in her native tounge and began struggling against her bindings desperate to go and attempt to defend her kingdom for fear that it will be destroyed but nonetheless, she was unable to escape, she shifted back into her human form, the chain shrinking down as well "shit shit shit" she mumbled, anxiety creeping into her voice "why now?" she asked herself and racked her brain for any plan of escape "c'mon Em', think!" she said to herself, the grass flattening and browning beneath her then she got an idea "HEAT!" she said to herself and she pressed her hands to the chain and made herself as worried as she could and soon the metal got hot and turned red but did nothing else "fuck my power isn't strong enough" she said and tried to find another plan but was rendered unable to find a plan.

Shizue.

Twirling and twisting, Shizue giggled alongside the cute critters that resided on the ocean floor. Her arms stretched and looped as she danced with colourful fishes of all shapes and sizes. Without warning, the creatures sped off in panic. Confused, she looked around her to see if they were in any danger. There wasn't a hunter nor a predator in sight... except for a merman she didn't notice from before. It was odd, he didn't look familiar in the slightest and she had to know every merfolk in the sea. She swam a little forward, cautious of the newcomer. She tucked a lock of white hair behind her ear, not that it helped a lot as the water swished her unruly long hair everywhere. The princess continued to observe the male from a distance. He moved slightly, causing small dust clouds of sand underneath him. And once again, all of a sudden she was taken aback. His vulgar exclamation made her want to swim away just like the fishes did. But she couldn't just leave a confused merman all by his lonesome. Her parents were bound to find out about this anyway. With a deep breath, she spoke.

"Are you alright?" As Shizue got closer, she noticed his brilliant blue skin that many of the noble merfolk has. He doesn't appear injured, only confusion and anger that creased his brows. "Can you tell me what happened? I'll do my best to help. I'm Princess Kaian." She tried to coax and reminded her who she was, hoping he knows and doesn't lash out at her.

Purple Winds

Would anyone really notice a gentle breeze that graces across a foothill, a slight shift in the regions temperature, and a strange hole slowly opening from the highest peak in the piercing mountains, and even if they were to, is it even possible anyone could imagine that it signals just one of the eight great awakenings bound to happen throughout the day.

Not that the man would ever want anything more, the disruption of someone's day would be terrible, and what would be the cause, a simple being waking up from a slumber that had gone slightly longer than expected, how wasteful that would be.
Otherwise, the first turn of his head resulted in a view that let him know his idea of the world was no different, a small feather drifting down right past the tip of his nose, the sight of it hitting the ground left a lingering smile on his face. Although, in order to avoid being too distracted, first mater of business was getting what could be argued as the most important half, out of the ground.

Location: Top of the Piercing Mountains (Or whatever mountain fits the sake of plot convenience)

For a moment, Seraphine merely stared at the ground below, unmoving. She took comfort in the sight of ashes littering the ground beneath her, took comfort in the smell of tar and ash. Unfortunately, her state of zen was interrupted by violent memories. Time's glowing blue hand, Water's dumbstruck face as he was dragged to the bottom of the sea, her missed blow that could've saved him. One after an another, images of the past invaded the deity's mind. "No, no, no," seethed Seraphine in a crackly voice, her vocals distorted in this monstrous form. One memory though, it caused the Goddess to jolt her head with an unnatural quickness to her right. "Air," was all she said before making her way towards the familiar mountains she recollected. Every step she took left havoc, fires were the trail Seraphine left behind yet she paid no attention. She didn't even notice she was lumbering ever closer to a town full of treasured creations. That is until she heard a familiar cry. A dragon's cry. Seraphine's eyes shot down to look at the ground below with an unnerving stare. The horrifying sight of the fire incarnate colossal had the townees shrieking and running in all directions yet Seraphine paid them no heed. Her eyes were deadlock on a chained dragon girl. The fire that followed Seraphine slithered towards the girl and to her chains, melting them instantly. "Why don't I -", Seraphine couldn't finish her sentence due to the fading of her adrenaline. "Water," was the last thing uttered from the God before she combusted and fell towards the ground in human form - unconscious. jay.rain jay.rain Limerick.Grimoire Limerick.Grimoire

Kaia;; with Shizue -- RI.a RI.a
Kaia jolted violently at the voice, head whipping around to lock onto the new presence. It was just one of his creations. The familiarity allowed him to ignore her and her questions for the time being. His pointed ears flickering back and forth as he tried to comprehend his surroundings. At least he was in the water and with familiar faces. He couldn't imagine if he had to go through this on dry land. After a few moments of quiet contemplation, he determined that he was at the bottom of Glacier Sea.
He finally turned his attention to the merperson before him. He noted her beauty and that she was nobility; someone who held sway over many creatures. He had to handle this delicately, for if she were to go home crying about how their gods were falling apart, chaos would surely ensue.
"Yes, princess, I'm perfectly fine," he did his utmost not to stutter, though it felt like every fibre of his body was stuttering. He had so many questions and surely most of them, this simple princess wouldn't be able to answer. But one of the most important ones, she did. Her last name was Kaian. That was definitely a reference to the water lord which meant they still worshipped. But he couldn't just tell her who he was, she'd want proof. And if he couldn't even drag himself off the fucking floor, he definitely couldn't perform his usual godly feats. "It's my siblings, I've lost them. And I'm uh, not quite sure where I am.'
He had no idea what he was doing. He had nothing to his credibility except the colour of his skin.
"I'm from nobility, the York family," they had been an especially prevalent family if he was remembering correctly. This was terrifying. "Do you know of us?"

she had nearly lost hope, that was when the unexpected happened, the deity from the stories she had heard as a child came approaching, she managed to melt the chain enough for her to break free she gave the deity a breathless 'thank you as she shifted again, froming a barrier between the townsfolk and the deity who saved her, the beasts large wings spread in a protective stance, glancing back to the deity with kind eyes before she ferociously advanced on the townspeople, determined to repay the debt "back off" she growled, and the townsfolk realized they were powerless against the massive beast of a girl and fled, once that fiasco was over she returned to the seemingly weakened deity and returned to human form "are you alright? they didn't severely injure you did they?" she asked, her instincts kicking in, as well as a sense of debt though when she turned over seraphine to asses the deity's injuries (if any) she saw the girl was rendered unconscious "oh dear!" she exclaimed "looks like we have to do this the hard way" she said with a tired sigh and shifted back into dragon form once more, and picked up the deity's limp body ever-so-gently in her jaw and carried her toward the korno, breathing a sigh of relief that her beloved kingdom is safe, setting the deity down gently on the brimstone near the castle, she changed back to her human form and decided to wait it out for a bit and if the situation didn't improve she would improvise, she sat down, and began patiently waiting, a somewhat snarky comment in mind.

Eons ago, at an unspecified time, Mesa had been overcome with guilt. Though her light was meant to chase away the darkness, she could not promise any one of her beloved souls a life untouched, unmarred, by pain, sorrow or despair. In her torment, she took an oath: as she had failed to provide happiness, she would instead ensure that justice would always be delivered, a hundred times stronger onto evil to make up for all the evil the souls had to endure, due to her own shortcomings.

In order to do this though, Mesa had to compromise her own soul. She, who had the ability to love stronger than anyone could, had to part with ‘temperance’ in order to obtain the ability to hate, just as strong as she loved. This allowed her take the concept of ‘justice’ as far as she needed to, as far away from ‘good’ as she needed to, to bury the guilt, and to return even the smallest of joy to all the souls she had failed.

When Time caught her in their grasp, put her to rest in the cave, the fragment, the embodiment of Mesa’s ‘temperance’, was left to wander free. However, because it was weaker than Mesa, because it’s spirit only knew of temperance, it would give into the nature to ‘balance’ everything, and keep darkness much too close to its heart than it could hope to live with. Knowing that it would lose its mind one day, they shut themselves inside a chest, warded it, and prayed that decay and ruin would take it away before any curious explorers came to release it.

--

The lid that had faithfully kept itself shut for all these years gave a noise of protest. The dull gray limbs inside failed to respond to this, unmoving. Another rattle, another harsh, forceful push, and the bundle of a husk inside was then simply bathed by … everything. It would have taken the time to bask in the sunlight it denied itself for so long, it could have celebrated from the release of their self imposed isolation … if only the husk of a fragment had been able to keep its senses, its identity, somewhere along the passage of time.

As that was not the case, the mindless gray figure took stock of its supposed savior, with unfocused, uncolored eyes, they measured the tall feminine form, before rolling its tongue out. Jaw nearly unhinged, it flickered its tongue, tasting the air as if it were a snake - before pulling back. It could taste Light, a trace of her at the very least.

In steady steps, it managed to crawl out from the cage. Huddled over, in front of the … Fae, yes … it peered at her, glassy, lifeless eyes stared long and hard before the fragment simply tilted to the side, moving beyond the one who freed her.

It had no need of this small pitiful match - only Light would suffice.

At the heart of a primeval forest, there stood an unassuming tree, it's canopy barely touching the skies. Indistinguishable from all the others, yet still favored by the arboreal creatures which dwelled here. Nearby, a small scavenger could be seen feasting on some long dead corpse. It was a serene sight, and the tree might've expressed its agreement if it could. Alas, it could not. Eternally trapped in this form, abandoned by Time itself, all the tree could do was to watch and wait. The tree had expected boredom to overtake it, yet it instead found solace in observing the surrounding ecosystem. As it continued to fulfill the role of spectator, ages flitted by like leaves blown in the wind.

Then, it all changed (when the fire nation attacked). As Time's grip loosened, the tree began to shrink, decay, and whither away. Eventually, it all condensed into a feminine form, birthed through the tree's destruction like some twisted phoenix. Long white hair which extended past her knees cascaded down her back, while her lightly tanned skin gave off a healthy glow. Though her sudden appearance had startled the scavenger, a few words from her had calmed it, and it resumed its meal. She would've joined in, if not for the thought of voracious maggots with nothing left to eat. Setting aside her momentary distraction, she put her focus on other, more immediate concerns than the future of maggots.

She stood there for a moment, expectant, before a look of confusion crossed her face when nothing happened. She then brought up her hand, and serpentine forms could be seen wriggling beneath the skin in a most disturbing manner, but that was all. Her form remained unchanged. Directing her attention to the dirt before her, she exerted her authority over the earth. The earth did part as she willed it, yet a child armed with a spade could've easily outdone her. Frowning at the apparent loss of her power, it was then that she finally noticed it, her severed connection to the world.

All paths were known to her. She felt every step, every road, every cave and tunnel deep below, yet now, she was lost. With the loss of her power, she could no longer percieve the world as she once had. The scavenger had responded to her voice, while it and other animals displayed an unnatural calmness upon hearing it. Still, the trees and fungi, her closest allies, maintained an agonizing silence with her, refusing to heed her beck and call. A sense of loneliness and isolation, neither of which she'd ever felt before, overcame her, only to be replaced by anger at her traitorous kin. "Time, you big meanie." She uttered for none to hear, stomping the ground in vain, self abuse at its finest. Already exhausted by her brief tantrum, the earth goddess fell to her knees and began to cry.

Shizue.

Her expression turned to worry when she heard of his siblings. It wasn't very common for merfolk to go missing. Everyone looked out for each other. Kidnapping and missing person cases were extremely rare under the sea. Despite the ocean being so vast, word and action travel fast thanks to the gifts of the royal family. She grew a little suspicious about the mysterious merman when he introduced himself. The Yorks were a rather prestigious family, they sided strongly with hers. So they were definitely not strangers. The princess can confirm that she has never met nor heard of another relative of the Yorks. Regardless, his appearance showed he was of noble blood. And by his size, even sitting down, was still bigger than her and she would be completely overpowered if she makes the wrong move. She would find out the truth after. Right now, a merfolk in need was right in front of her.

"I do know the York family. I am so sorry this happened." Shizue empathised first. Using her powers, she called a dolphin to assist the male. "We are just a few miles away from the Xiyo Islands. Can you tell me what you remember?" She probed, and soon a male dolphin swam next to her. "Would you come back with me to the kingdom to receive treatment? I'll contact your family as soon as I can." She patted the side of the gentle creature before offering both her hands to him.

Kaia;; with Shizue — RI.a RI.a
Fuck. She seemed to know the family well. Kaia knew this could get very bad, very quickly. He just wished his abilities regenerated before the confusion had the opportunity to expose him before he was ready. He seemed to be in the clear. Though it was hard to tell, the princess was quite good at keeping a straight face. The fact that he couldn’t look right through her as normal was really starting to get to him but nonetheless, he let his weakness show on his face as he reached up and took both her hands. “I honestly don’t remember much... The last thing I remember was my sister’s face. She looked so scared.” That was a lie. But as if he could tell her that Time itself bodyslammed him to the bottom in the ocean while the embodiment of fire, his sister, scrambled around, taller than most mountains, trying to save him.
“I appreciate this more than you know... I’m aware I seem less than presentable at the moment, but trust me when I tell you I’m a good friend to have.”

100 YEARS BEFORE THE ESCAPE
YOU ARE A COMPLETE AND MAJOR IDIOT, YOU KNOW THAT ? ❞ spoke a ten year old girl with a exasperated expression spread over her fair face. her cheeks flushed red, spreading all the way to her ears which she had recently tucked several strands of gold over, huffing and puffing, trying catch her breath. blue hues burn passionately down to the man next to her, who apparently had claimed to be the almighty lord of darkness’. if you were her, you wouldn’t believe he was one of the elemental beings either. i mean, look at him ! well, she couldn’t exactly see really well in the dark .. but, he was definitely hiding against the rocks, probably hugging his knees as his clothes are in tatters. fresh cuts were sliced upon flesh, the evidence being the gory scent of crimson dropped blood that was laid heavily upon the air to the point her tongue could taste it’s metallic scent. he was pathetic, weak and feeble. no way could this man be the great cain from history .. but, whether he was or not, she wanted to live. ❝ go and do something ! it’s getting closer to us .. ❞ however, her words were ignored as her ears perks up to the sounds of two wooden sticks rubbing against each other .. within two seconds, fire was born, illuminating this cave up with light again and the girl once more was met with the man’s face. it has been awhile since she last saw him— his face, at least. the man released his grip from them and with a single blow against the sparks of ember, the fire grew bigger than before. the earth soon trembled in response as a vicious growl echoed and strings of shadows stretched toward the path of light ..devouring pieces of it before forming a pool of darkness around them again. red, glaring eyes hid deep within the abyss ... waiting restlessly for a chance of attack, but this being couldn’t for these two were trapped in it’s blind spot. the girl let out a whimper as her face hid behind the man’s arm .. the shadow of the ground lurch from the ground, forming an abundant of sharp arrows as those race them only to halting in mid air. thump, thump, thump .. the sounds of her heartbeats goes. teary, glassy eyes stared with horror suddenly wishing there was no light for the sight being attacked in such manner did not do her heart well. large hand hovered her head, patting her gently as the man gave her a small smile. his violet orbs seems to glisten with joy rather than fear, ❝ as much as i want to do something, it’s better for us to continue running and hiding from him, that’s how we’ll stay alive longer .. i told you before, right ? time rewinds in this cave. this place contains moments of my worst self. it contains of the moment when i first lost my mind .. berserk mode, my siblings called it. whether you are a foe or ally, it doesn’t matter. i was a lost cause then. the me you see chasing us right now is a reflection of the worst version of me .. and as long as we are trapped here in this cave of nightmare, time will continue to rewind over and over again to my most wicked moments. therefore, it doesn’t matter how many times i take myself down .. in the end, he’ll be revived once more anyway. ❞ it was soothing. she didn’t know why, but his voice was always calming to hear... even if the news he delivered was a terrible one. without realizing it, the small girl had leaned closer to him. before he met her, how long had he been trapped in here ? during the short time they spent with each other, he’d often tell her sweet tales in regards to the adventures he usually take with his so called siblings, the elemental lords. while she still had difficulty believing his claims, the idea that he was useless was now washed away from her mind completely. deciding to go with his made up story, she spoke, ❝if time was your sibling, why had they trapped you up in here ? what did you do to anger them to the point of them wanting to kill you like this ? ❞ she was quite hesitant when it comes to asking this question, she gaze over at him to see if he’s alright. however, a smile was still plastered on his lips. ❝time, in no way wishes to kill all of us. if they wanted to, they would not have placed us all in our proper elemental prison. if she wanted to vanquish me completely, a good place to have set me in would most likely be the cave of jewels .. where i’m away from the darkness outside and only surrounded in pure light. therefore, whatever reasons she might have to do this, i’m sure it’s a good one ..❞ she looks at him in disbelief, how can he even say that ?? ❝ are you kidding me ? i don’t know about you, but we can still be killed in here. with no traces of light, it’s cold .. eventually, we’ll die from frost bite before we’re swallowed up by this darkness. ha ! i don’t know what’s worst .. to be shredded into pieces by that thing and later be consumed or turn into a freezing statue later. you keep saying you’re cain, but you haven’t once proven yourself to do so. is running away all you’re ever good at ? why do you not fight ? you said it’s not possible, but did you try yet ?? you said that thing over there was you .. if that’s the case, wouldn’t you know how to defeat it ?.. or was everything a lie ? ❞ as she ranted, he didn’t speak and remained quiet, not even answering her questions. back then, his mind was hazy .. he couldn’t remember when he first started to regain back his sense of mind, it just really happened on it’s own. darkness, by nature, is greedy. it consume all, be it good or bad. it’ll even eat it’s own self, eventually : darkness feed on darkness, that’s his prison. as long as they both remain in this prism of time, they’ll both get devour at one point by that version of himself soon. ❝ oh my god ! you’re telling me we got no way of getting rid of that thing ? that, we’re just going to sit here and wait to be eaten ? i .. why the hell is after us anyway ? because we’re food ? ❞ sneezing once more, the male whispered his answer to her, ❝ no, because he’s angry.❞ feeling a bit irked, the girl snapped, ❝ everyone gets angry, but we don’t fucking eat each other .. you glutton.❞ an anguished sigh escaped from her lips as she continued, ❝ then, we just have to end this disastrous clock and then, we can get out, right ? so, how do we break time ?
❝ you die.

ESCAPED .. ONE WEEK AGO
SHE WAS DYING .. why was she aging ? time rewinded continuously within these caves which mean she wasn’t supposed to be corroding away like this. the once ten year old female was now an old woman. her once golden locks were now spun into silver as her skin fade away into wrinkles. she was finding it difficult to walk with each steps that she took. one million and seventeen thousand times was the approximate number they had killed the being, who they decided to name berserker,’ lurking through these thick walls from this cave. over the decades, she soon began to believe the man next to her .. finally trusting him to be cain, one of the elemental lords, for he still looked the same as the day she met him. upon remembering this, her head began to ache. it would always do this everytime she would try to recall her first meeting with this man. if she think about closely, just who is she ? her name .. she didn’t know her name. everytime she thought of her past .. all that remained was a blank canvas. why did she want to get out of here so badly ? did she have a family waiting for her out there ?? she doesn’t know .. the story starts here simply due to the sudden change in the male’s attitude and that the end of this prison is coming soon. these past few days, he spoke in riddles and the girl couldn’t make sense of his words. broken sentences were given and each time gave hints of them finally escaping from this place. however, everytime she seems to glow with joy over the news .. the male seemed to have responded with heavy disappointment. why ? she couldn’t understand.

THE MONSTER APPROACHED THEM .. upon growing older, her knowledge with magic had increased. cain taught her spells only she, a human, was capable of wielding. air was her main attribute. she got in her stance, preparing to attack .. however, berserker did not move from it’s position. rather it vanished and soon the break of dawn envelopes the cave. the light illuminating in here made her want to cry. she was a bit confused with this outcome, but she was finally out. she looks toward cain and her smile faltered. he wasn’t happy to be freed. ❝ i told you, to escape you’d have to die .. ❞ she knew she was old, but she wasn’t planning to kick the bucket so soon. irritated with his lack of clarity, she finally exploded. ❝ i don’t understand .. i’m not dead, i’m still—❞ cain cuts her off with a shake of his head. ❝ no. you’re gone .. you’re not really here, tessie.❞ blue eyes widened at what he had just called her. her voice whispered back, ❞tessie ?❞ it wasn’t sinking in properly. why was he addressing him like this ? did he know her ? her memories .. she doesn’t have them. feeling dizzy, her knees started to buckled and she fell. what she expected was landing on the cold, hard ground not in his arms. her fingers clutched tightly onto the fabric of his shirt, trembling as hot tears spilled upon her face. his voice soon ressounded softly into her ears. ❝it’s your name, love. teresa fairwells. you were a very important human to me, but now you’re gone. i’ve watched you died. ❞ she was coughing. she was fine a moment ago, but blood were violently coughed out from her mouth. her breathing was unstable and she was wheezing and gasping for air. her blue eyes were stained with pain and with her free hand, she traces the line of her stomach to feel a blade stuck deep within there. she didn’t understand .. but, he did. suddenly the pain didn’t feel all that scary anymore, the expression cain had upon his face made her realize that he was suffering more than she did. her hand cupped his face as he leaned against her, holding her tightly. however, her vision was blurring and she was losing too much blood. she tried to hold on, but, she could only do so much before the pain was too much. ❝ this cave is a nightmare. my trial in here wasn’t facing berserker .. it was you all along. you are the ghost i can’t let go quite yet, tessa. time left me here in my worst moments .. the cause of my anger was your death. i lost you .. but, i’ve lost. however, it wouldn’t be a good prison if time had just let me experience your death just once ..❞
SHE DIDN’T KNOW HOW LONG SHE SLEPT .. but, when she woke up, she reverted to her youthful flesh again. this time she was twenty and her memories have returned. with a blade still rooted deeply into her belly, she let out a laugh. ❝ as always, you’re really a fool, cain .. why are you still holding on to me ? i’ve betrayed you .. used you and still you are, still not letting me go. what a hopeless god you are indeed .. ❞ it started small, her body shone a golden bright aura around it and started from the leg as her delicate form began evaporating into thin air. she did not much time left, the prison which had trapped cain inside for five hundred thousands of years was now falling apart. time’s magic was weakening and very soon, cain will be released back into the world of zylo. ❝perhaps .. but, how was it ? experiencing old age .. you never reached that part of your life, tess.❞ rolling those azure orbs, the blonde scoffed at cain’s words. a cruel woman time was, choosing such tragic moment to trapped darkness in. the male could have escaped a long time ago yet he chose to stay. he had stayed for her. somehow this revelation made her shivered with joy, but at the same time, she has no wish for the lord to continue rotting here. however, just a little longer .. she wanted to talk to him one last time. ❝hmm .. exhausting. my body ached almost constantly, i think i almost experience a heart attack once. then, again .. anyone who spend a day with you would. ❞ it was a joke, but it made cain laugh. back then, she died giving them a tragic ending .. however, at least, this time she wanted to create a happy memory. teresa fairwells will always be a nightmare to the lord of darkness, she can never change that. but, sometimes those things that pain you can be what makes you stronger. ❝so ? how many times was it ? my memories are still blurry .. but, surely, this isn’t the first or second time i have died .. you must really enjoy seeing my death, huh ? if you haven’t made your escape here yet ..❞ the cave of nightmare .. it was a perfect place to set cain in. this particular cave was one where it is said you could see dead, vengeful souls. it was a place of grudge. it was the place he chose to come when he lost her .. he killed himself over and over again during the time he went berserk, but he never once died. he can’t die. over time, the grudge he had on himself must have been his own malicious spirit trapping him here. ❝ i lost count after five hundred .. tess ..❞ like he said, the only dead souls that come visit here in this cave is the vengeful ones. the reason why he’s seeing teresa all this time .. could it be due to her hating him ? it made him curious, but he lacked the courage to ask her for the answer. closing his eyes, he planted one last kiss on top of her head and as he spirit disappears once more he said, ❝ good bye .. and i’m sorry.❞

elemental lord of darkness
location : rosé de jericho ( town of gento )

interactions : open

★・・・・・★
Can I have three plates of grilled cheese sandwiches too with some basals, six beef gyros, cake .. you got cheesecake ? also, some sliced watermelons and i recently heard you got a new spice from your recent trades .. so, whatever new dish you got, give it to me. i wanna try ! also, ten dishes of freshly cooked whole chickens seasoned with that infamous secret gento sauce that’s been passed down for generations .. you sure you won’t share that with me, miss. jericho ? ❞ cain asked with a smile. the lady before him gave him an amused look as the nearby tables kinda just gawk at him. was this dude throwing a party at home or something ?? because that’s way too much food for a person to eat. however, the slender male was at alone. the heavy, large bag that he stole resting on the table suggest that he did indeed have enough to afford all these food, still he was strange. for now, as you guessed it .. this lord of darkness is currently in gento right now, a pretty peaceful city. it was the first place closest from the cave of nightmare and has been his resting place since then. besides, it was somewhat a middle line to all the places his siblings were imprisoned in, so right now .. he is just waiting for them to be released. ❝Oi, Fairwells .. are you trying to close down my store ? You eat anymore than this and I won’t have enough for dinner time later. Geez, it’s like you’re trying to fill a thousand years worth of hunger or something.❞ jericho muttered under her breath, shooting a glare at the male before her only to have him respond back with a cheeky grin. yeah, sure the middle age female thought he was a strange kid .. but, from time to time, he’d bring in some ingredients back to the store during his hunting trip, so he was surely a good kid. while he came a week ago, the boy was adapting really quickly with the townspeople right now .. that edmund fairwells.
Yes, edmund fairwells is the lord of darkness currently alias right now. gotta say, he’s brilliant at coming up with names on the spot. right now, cain was disguising himself as a normal human right now who is currently training to be a merchant. the clothes and money was of no issue .. he had miraculously stumbled upon a band of merchant on his way out of the cave a week ago and quite literally rob everything they got. he had stripped the three of them naked, their own shadows binded them to the trees as he berated them with endless questions. eventually, however .. he had to release them. you see, even weak men had their uses. and often times, merchants are quite greedy creatures .. and so, without revealing a single traces of his own identity, he managed to grabbed a good position as their apprentice. although, at the moment, he is still in training .. cain has a grasp the understanding of the current currency in this world as yet again it had changed .. as they are no longer trading cheese for bread anymore. the system of giving things away in turn of getting back something equivalent had always been a bit flaw in the back of cain’s mind. for now, he’s glad they found the time to improve themselves. perhaps with this change in currency, even the poor now have the chance to grow wealthy if they save their funds diligently enough ! for now, the male was sitting alone waiting for his order to come out and right ! rosé de jericho was the restaurant he was in. the best, really .. at least in his opinion.
W
ith a book in his hand, THE HOW TO GET RICH 101 PAMPHLET, his own shadows stretched out towards all the other customer’s own shadows without them noticing. with his own connecting to theirs, he was essentially collecting information, you see. there was a particular group that cain was dying to get his hands on. have you heard of the ROSE ‘ ? although those three merchant were low in class, they have spoken about the rumors that were passing down in regards to the higher oneslike what illegal things they involved themselves at night, for example. sipping his tea, his violet hues glowed with interest .. ❝ no matter the decades, at least there are a few things in this world hasn’t change. how comforting~

The feeling of stone on her back didn't sit right with Seraphine's instincts and within moments of being placed, she was up and on her feet. Wide-eyed and alert, ready to pluck a few feathers. "What's the big idea?!" she exclaimed, pointing a finger at the dragon girl before her, a fiery red brow raised. "You tryna disrespect me?! You can't just be putting me down on any old place," she whined hand on hip, eyes locked with the younger but very much so taller woman. The truth was, Seraphine had wakened from her state of unconscious during the ride, she just wanted to be pampered back into "health". Unfortunately, the treatment she received wasn't quite what she expected. "Outside, you place me outside?" continued Seraphine, her expression exasperated as her golden eyes darted about. "Give a deity a little respect. Aint cha grands tell you how to treat me?" inquired Seraphine playfully glowering at the raven-haired woman before her. Suddenly, something clicked in Seraphine's head when she glimpsed back at the castle. "Ya grands weren't my first were they?" Seraphine inquired in a lowered tone, though she was sure she already knew the answer. Glimpsing about, Seraphine noticed elaborate stone pathways and the clothes the dragon girl wore didn't look even the least bit familiar. "Just how long was I out?" thought Seraphine as she moved past the girl, looking around in bewilderment. "Why'd ya'll go and modify the place for? Earth had this world just right and perfectly functional for you," remarked Seraphine as she viewed the town of Korno, that was just a bit off from the castle. Something told Seraphine she was out a bit more than two or three generations. The thought of being out made Seraphine's face grow cold and turn into a scowl. "Come with me girl, I wanna go find Water, or Air. Hell I'd even take Darkness," stated Seraphine, turning around again to face the dragon girl. "Wait, what's your name?" 244435-sound-horizon-7th-story-mrchen-schneewittchen.jpgIt was a morning day for Ella. She woke had breakfast in bed, had a maid help her get ready for the day and then head down to the tutor. She hated going to the tutor. She had learn about running the kingdom and the rules and regulations. How things worked and the history and blah blah blah. She was bored and honestly she was learning a lot of things that technically she wasn't really suppose to learn until later. Every since her parents died, she was 10, she had to study like crazy because of the fact she would be taking the crown at a young age, which she did. She was crowned Queen on her 11th birthday and she hadn't clue what she was doing and on top of that she was still mourning her parents death. Her parents didn't just die, they were assassinated, and Ella happen to walk upon them dead in their room. To this day no one has no idea who killed them. It affected her badly and she had basically almost went completely mute. She never smiled and she was always very depressed. A lot times when she had to sit on throne and listen to the towns people or nobles asking for request she didn't really understand was going on. The advisors would just tell her what to say and when she would try to come with something else they would just tell her to be quiet and do as they said. But as time went on she soon got tired of being bossed around and never being able to do what she wanted to do. She was the Queen wasn't she? Why was it she was getting bossed around all the time. Why was it she couldn't make the final decisions? Sure she didn't understand what always going on and no one would bother to explain it to her. They would just say, "You should be paying more attention in your classes. We shouldn't have to explain it." The only person they was really helpful was Bon. He was the only one that seem to give any proper advice, even if she didn't want to hear it. So seeing as she was Queen she started to act like it and one day stood up to the head advisor and told him she wasn't going to be bossed around anymore. Not only did this new found confidence help her stand up for herself but it also would get her into trouble. Because she basically got a bit wild and became a bit of a trouble maker and on top of that almost all her manners she learned went straight out the window. She had so much crazy energy that no one could contain it. She was all over the place. The only one that seem to have control of her was Bon. He was the only person she seemed to obey. Probably because he was the only parent figure she had now.

Ella is now 14 and she still acts like one big kid. Even now as she sat there listen the tutor go on about....something, she was just thinking of a way to get out of the library without him noticing right away. When he got up to go get a book Ella quickly slipped out of the library and made her way down the hall. "Finally thought I was never going to get out of there." She headed down to the kitchen to see if any special treats were being made. When she got there she saw cookies sitting on the counter. "All right Betty made her famous cookies!" She walked over and picked one up and started eating but soon froze when she heard a voice behind her. "Your Highness just what do you think you are doing. That's for tonight." Ella slowly turned around "Come on technically I can have what I want." Betty crossed her arms. "Yeah you tell that to Bon when he catches you skipping out on your lesson. "Pff he won't catch me. He had to go to town so I'm home free!.....Did you say these were for tonight? What's going on tonight?" Betty looked at her. "Oh I thought you knew apparently some important nobles coming to speak with you and the advisors tonight. They didn't tell you?" Ella didn't respond she just took another cookie. "Man these are good." What was there to say. Even after she tried to stand up for herself she was getting pushed around. No surprise there.

Shizue.

"Please Mr. York, that is the last thing you should be worrying about." She replied, heaving him up with all her might and the help of the dolphin. Once she has made sure he has got a good grip on his ride, she started making their way back to the kingdom. "I can only pray to our water god that your family is alright." She offered him a weak smile, "I apologise if this brings back awful memories, but please let me know if you recall anything else."

Eventually, they've reached the infirmary ward in the castle. With doctors that worked for the castle immediately tending to his well-being. The princess stayed close, informing the guards about the situation and to make sure this tragic news does not spread. The last thing she wants is for everyone to worry and panic about a mysterious enemy kidnapping merfolk. The doctors and nurses allocated him a bed and allowed Shizue to see him, the little mermaid sat by the edge. "I do hope you are feeling better. If it's any consolation, I've sent out our soldiers in search of your family and of any suspicious activity. Would you..." She bit her bottom lip, her nervous glancing bounced off the walls and to the 2 guards outside on duty. She couldn't find it in her heart to question his words. For some reason, she wasn't as fearful of him since they've met. She felt close to him, someone she literally found moments ago, and she believed it wasn't some sort of weird coincidence. Shizue prayed a silent prayer that she wasn't being out of line and intrusive. She let out a shaky breath before meeting his dark eyes with her pale ones.

"Would you tell me the truth?"

Kaia;; with Shizue -- RI.a RI.a
Kaia held onto the dolphin gingerly with the palms of his hands, eyeing it suspiciously. Though his godliness could easily slip past an advanced creation, such as a mermaid, it would not be the same when it came to less complicated beings. Something so pure and unhindered by the gods' image would not be fooled so easily. Especially dolphins. Kaia probably had the most love for those creatures and that was saying something. So he sat atop his prize nervously, fidgeting about and hoping it wouldn't display any behaviours that could call for suspicion.
Surprisingly enough, the trip proceeded without incident. He was sure the dolphin had taken pity on him and that by itself created all sorts of confusing emotions. Let alone the fact that he was currently sat down in some teeny castle, being prodded by mermaids. Little respect and no reverence. It was infuriating. He was so much better than this but all he could do was sit still and hope the princess would continue to show sympathy for him. Humiliating.
The wallowing in self-pity continued so deeply that his pointed ears flattened along the side of his head in surprise when the princess sat down next to him. He immediately eyed her up for her insolence, surprising a god like that. Then the scramble to soften his expression ensued. Gods, this was fucking exhausting.
"What?" There was a hint of a bubbly growl in his voice that he hadn't managed to completely strain out before he spoke. He cleared his throat weakly and tried again. "I mean. I'm telling you the truth. I--" don't owe you anything more than what I've told you-- "... I can't give you any other series of events, princess." He added the title for good measure. He knew that the fact that he was completely unharmed wasn't lining up and the second the York family got back to hers, the lie would completely unravel... He had no plan.
"But have you heard of any rumours about the gods lately? Just because the most recent one I've heard is that they've disappeared and I fear that might plunge the kingdoms into lawlessness." That made sense, right?

Bon walked through the Gento trails with a rather large brown bag, eyes dull and unenthusiastic. "This won't do," he thought referring to his mood. He couldn't let the princess see him like this, he needed to liven up. At least a bit. That's when the solution came into sight, a tavern. "I believe the princess could wait a bit longer," Bon muttered before pushing the tavern's door open and making his way immediately towards the bar, bag still in hand. "Morning, a spiced omelet and ale thank you," he ordered, half heartily tossing a bag of gold onto the table. "Get what you need," Bon told the waitress not caring if she took the whole damn thing. "What's there to do? The princess is at her lessons for at least another hour," he thought, making a smile appear on his face. That thought was entirely doubtful. She most likely skipped and fleed into the kitchen where the maids and cooks usually took pity on her and allowed her to hide away. With the princess on his mind, he decided to buy her a treat - a mini apple pie. The sound of the waitress's returning voice brought him out his thoughts, allowing him to gaze upon his order. A light gruff thank you was his response. Once he finished his rather small omelet he went to town on the ale before jumping up and zooming out, last words - "I can't keep the princess alone with those insolent advisors." When he arrived, he went straight for the kitchen and when he spotted a tiny girl with raven black hair, he attacked scooping her up and away. Straight to the library for what he usually did when he caught her skipping, personal lessons. Bon had taken it upon himself to learn what she was supposed to then teach it to her later. "Goodmorning, how was your little speck of freedom?" he inquired casually as he zoomed in the castle hallways' whilst holding the princess bridal style. "It's a shame I always catch you somewhere other than your lessons," he lightly teased in his aged voice. Though he was rather old his muscles and strong demeanor didn't show it. If you didn't know him you'd be intimidated. When they arrived at the library he gently sat the princess down on a velvet couch before handing her a book, "Social Etiquette." She knew what to do. Ember had her attention elsewhere when all of the sudden a firey voice rang in her ear, drawing her attention "Oh, Goodmorning sunshine" she said with a teasing chuckle "and for your information, I couldn't exactly fit into the castle and you aren't the lightest person in the world" she said with a shrug " so I made due with what I had to work with" she answered plainly, choosing to be blunt "the castle? I don't know, It's been this way since before I was born" she answered and followed behind the firework of a deity as she began to walk off, seemingly to find the others, answering the deitys question as they walked "my name is Ember Hatsune" she answered, after that she didn't say much else...

Iris Nigredo.

The Fae’s treasure had remained sedentary in this forest for hundreds of thousands of years. Iris’ days beside it which numbered only thirteen years had felt like but a sliver of time in comparison. Therefore for thirteen solitary years, she had fiercely guarded the key dormant within the chest from every and all foolish intruders. Should she have been allowed to, she would have guarded the relic from the Lord of Light herself for an eternity. To both atone as well as to bear some connection with her creator.

The four thousand eight hundred fifty-fourth day should have been another uneventful day like any other. Yet when eyes of a stolid grey flicked open, the white and red-clothed woman immediately sensed something was amiss. Something within the clearing had shifted. Another intruder, or perhaps not, she realized as the movement settled down as soon as it had appeared. No fool would have escaped her eyes within these sacred grounds.

As if seeking assurance on their treasure’s safety, Iris turned back and placed a careful hand on the worn lid of the box. Suddenly, it trembled and clicked, invoking a rare bout of surprise in the Fae. Her brows crinkled in confusion. Then, a bemused smile. Could it possibly be?

True to her suspicions, the mysterious chest gave way with a creak. What laid inside left her very soul blanched. Staring at the obsolete figure as it crawled its way out of its former cage, Iris was cruelly handed a revelation: the Fae had never truly known what this “key” had entailed. All that had been passed down during those thousands of years were that it was a gift from their god.

However, the Fae was hardly given time to mull over the fact before the creature suddenly moved away of its own accord. She instinctively reach out with a hushed “Wait.” When it became apparent that the creature neither understood her nor bothered to care, Iris quickly scribbled down a note and placed it within the still-open chest. One of the elder’s routine checks were due soon, and they would be sure to notice her writing. What was most important was her following of the key. Considering the abruptness of its leave, she could only guess that it knew the way to Light’s location. After all, its title as a “key” had to have had some meaning.

A wry smile settled itself on Iris’ lips. There had been a legend passed down amongst the Fae that the box would only open for those possessing the purest of souls. With this, the stain hanging above her head could at last be thoroughly cleansed. Now, it was time to safely deliver the key to its proper place: beside their god of Light.

---

At long last, the odd pair stepped into the Cave of Blinding Light. One stopped to observe surroundings; the other padded on fearlessly. No longer frustrated by the creatures lack of the word “wait” in its dictionary, the silver-haired woman merely blinked nonchalantly before following suit. It had already been a long and arduous journey from Heaven to East Gento. Catering to the whims of this “key” for a while longer wouldn’t hurt.

However, when the creature stopped for the first time in their trek to the cave, Iris, having not expected its pause, nearly kicked it into the adjacent wall. Somehow it looked offended by her actions despite having no face to express itself. Naturally, she ignored it spectacularly. Ha, petty revenge was sweet. Though perhaps this was how the heretics felt from time to time. The mere thought elicited a shudder from the Fae.

“Have you found her?” In an attempt to distract herself, Iris asked the question that had been present in the back of her mind since the start of this journey. The only issue was that she sensed nothing in this cave other than the little monster and herself.

"Ember Hatsune," repeated Seraphine, trying to get a feel of the name. "I like the sound of that- your first name in particular," she stated, slithering an arm around the girl's waist. "Back to the problem at hand - I need," Seraphine began. Unfortunately, the last word got caught in her throat when it's weight resonated with her. She needed help. Why? She winced at the revelation, it hurt. "I need help," she muttered suddenly losing her flare. Retracting her arm she looked up at Ember. "Will you give me a ride to the, I think he named it the Glacier Sea?" she asked hesitantly, struggling with her own sudden weakness. Seraphine felt off, she couldn't risk bold comments if she couldn't protect herself. Could she protect herself? The lost of her once unlimited strength was hard. She couldn't even fly. This was going to be a rough adjustment for Seraphine. ( Limerick.Grimoire Limerick.Grimoire )

Ignoring the stray it had involuntarily picked up, it continued facing in her direction, staring at the wall that stood behind her. In a harsh swing, a desperate frenzied swipe, a hand flew through the air, landing in a sickening splash, a mere few feet beyond the two intruders of the cave. A trail of black lined the abandoned part to the fragment, whose wound simply soaked with tainted fluids. Stepping forward, uncaring that the lost blood found its way onto the ground, onto the Fae, and then onto the wall - it waved its shortened, wounded, arm frantically. Left, right, left, right, although it was weak and dull, it was clearly motivated.

After a short while, it froze in place. The wall, the rocks, that had once been so polished that it could have been mistaken for a mirror, were dyed a dirty filthy black, having the blood of the monster fragment rain down upon it unrelentingly. However, it did not simply stop because it deemed its masterpiece complete. In the very center of the fragment’s work, a single spark of light remained, impossibly so, revealed by the sick methods of the hungry fragment at last! With a single finger from its remaining hand, it pointed at the spark of light, then slowly, so carefully, it traced the air, walking itself onto the wall opposite to the one it had ruined.

A single tap was made to satisfy its curiosity …

... Then a wail of triumph sounded, like that of a million ravens' talons raking down stainless steel. Still using the handless arm, it was quick to scribble onto the wall - a language forgotten, forbidden, or simply uncared for was scrawled loosely before the wall gave way - an illusion. Without so much as batting an eye, it leapt, both feet pushing it head first through the new entrance, once again having completely disregarded its companion. Hunger took over what little remained of its mind, and its body, weak and uncoordinated, had managed to string itself together into a perfect machine - both broken facets working just for a minute more so that could sink its claw and fangs into pure light, into the feast thousands and hundreds of years long due!

It came to a stop just before the raised slab of stone, where the prone figure of a woman laid. “I … see … you,” it sang eerily, a prayer, a greeting, a farewell. The remaining functioning arm wound itself back, all fingers poised and ready to tear into the Lord of Light, only for it to fall to its knees, which no longer had the strength to hold itself together. Not when the Lord of Light had pierced through the fragment first. The last thing it would remember was a snarl befitting the most ferocious of beasts as a second arm joined the first to pierce through again.

Time had not been merciful, in her opinion. To be put into a deep slumber, perhaps was as kind as ‘curses’ could get, however Mesa was determined to hold onto anger, made cold, made from a thousand years of subconsciously knowing that she had been denied the pleasure of simply seeing, being denied the world … Time had rendered her blind and deaf, and anger had stirred within for so long, that any conclusions she had, later when the ability to form thought was possible, was long lost.

It was some cosmic karma, she figured, that the catalyst to her awakening would have to be the presence of concentrated darkness so old, ancient, that the Cave of Blinding Light itself could not snuff it out, nor drown it. Having been exposed to nothing but light, a light of nothingness for so many ages, this lone agent of darkness, quite ironically, her own agent, had fired up the blood and a will that were forcefully put to rest. It also reignited the fury she held onto all those years, from the moment she had gained even the slightest of conscious thought. When her wayward fragment had stepped close enough, every cell in her godly vessel screamed, and her golden gaze snapped open, eyes front to the looming horror about to descend on her.

Contrary to what the fragment had thought, it had been Mesa who breathed those three little words, a whispered greeting to the world she had been denied from, quiet and lovingly like that of a lovers confession. She then snapped to attention, like some demented karma doll a mad smile had curled up, scales of gold bloomed from under the false human form, and plunged into the darkness that had so boldly challenged her.

That was what Iris would have walked into.

Mesa whose human form threatened to slip away entirely, with her arms of gold scales plunged deep and far, through and through, the husk’s flesh. In one final howl, she tore it all in two, unminding of the splatter and filth that ruined any serenity the alcove originally held, that she herself had. On shaking limbs, she fell from the raised slab, her bed, and onto the floor, between the two halves of the corrupted fragment. In her hands, now void of any otherworldly features, was a soul, grey and unpleasant, it was spiking up in some final effort of defiance no doubt. Tilting her head back, Mesa opened her mouth. Her tongue lolled out, cradling the underside of the soul before she chomped down on it whole.

Her eyes sharpened when she realized that she had an audience. Thinking to greet this new intruder as well, she quickly swallowed - and regretted it severely. There was no physical injury that was inflicted, but all the same, the darkness had been old and ancient, stewed for many years, to have eaten that while she hadn’t taken stock of her own form was … foolish.
