Backstory: Neaelus was just a baby when he literally drifted into his family’s life like a dandelion seed on the breeze. His adoptive family had just lost a child after childbirth, and they saw Neaelus as a gift from the gods. Neaelus grew up, as a human, in a small forgettable village, in southern Riverria. Unlike his brothers, Neaelus had a flair for the intellectual and sought knowledge and wisdom in his free time instead of cheap thrills and pranks. When he used his wind magic to save his brother from a fatal fall, his family praised him. The village grew jealous and fearful of his power as it manifested to help him in nearly all facets of life. As his powers grew, his own family began to worry for him. There was a storm building around Neaelus, and he could only wait for it to break.

The metaphorical storm broke in the aftermath of a literal one; a tornado had touched down and wreaked havoc to the village’s main source of income: their fields. Everyone Neaelus knew came after him because he hadn’t been able to protect anyone with his power, not even his family’s farm. Fleeing the people’s ire in an unprecedented display of power, Neaelus became a bundle of clouds that were carried away in a sharp breeze.

Unused to being a cloud, Neaelus lost himself in the skies. When he finally came down, several years had passed, and he had forgotten everything but his own name and a sense searching for something he had lost. Maybe, one day he’ll remember the family whose life he blew in and out of on a breeze.

Sylph traits: Neaelus is accompanied by an omnipresent breeze that can respond to his emotions. His body is quite airy and is less effected by gravity. If there is air to breath, Neaelus can breathe easy. He can also speak with birds and other flying creatures.

Storm in the blood: Neaelus can use the friction of wind to produce electricity. He is still novice in his control and lighting magic is inherently unstable. It is a magic he prefers to use purely for combat and as a part of his trump set. Producing electricity to direct requires intense concentration, but he can collect ambient electric energy to jumpstart the process.

Fanning The Embers: By becoming the Xuol's acolyte, Neaelus has been given the ability to call flames, pestilence, and decay. As he is unused to the power, Neaelus is only able to affect changes within the range of his scythe.

Backstory: Arabelle lived a happy life before her capture. She was closest with her older sister, Bailey. She loved the little ones too, but she and Bailey were inseparable. When she was sold into slavery she tried to fight it, but was quickly trained as to the proper way to act, and she lost parts of her personality that she sometimes wondered if she would ever get back.

Backstory: Alright, I'll keep this short and sweet. Steve is the product of selective breeding between the noble houses of Rivanna (or however you spell it). His parents were more focused on looks and power than love, which made for a rather tense relationships with them. Anyway, born into money, he got the best of everything. Education, food, clothes, everything. Most of his whole life went in like this. He never learned common human decency, respect, or anything like that. This really shown through when he bought his first little toy, as he called her. A 6 year old half elf, small and terrified. It was perfect. For the years he has had her, Arabelle was his play thing. He made her do everything from house work to sexual "favors". Even let his friends have a few turns with her. Currently passing through a nasty little area on their way to Steven's home in the Capital.

Personality: Arcadia's usual behaviour is very cordial and polite, regardless of who she is speaking to. However, she acts distant to nearly, if not everyone she knows, and behaves in a stoic, emotionless mannerism. Despite her reserved behaviour, she has no qualms about using overtly or unnecessarily violent methods to fight; she even secretly enjoys doing such deeds, and seems to have a secret streak of sadism. Due to her upbringing, she is extremely loyal to her religion's deity, and the king to an extent.

Backstory: Arcadia was the child of a family of noble-born warriors who belonged to a religious group known as the Order of Luminea. Though small, the Order was known for its devout devotion to their deity of worship, whom the order was named after, along with their holy weapons, claimed to be imbued with the power of light itself. These weapons were blessed with such power after its bearer completed a journey around Rivianna, aiding as many people in need of help as possible. Due to her parent's loyalty to their religion, Arcadia was raised and taught a strict loyalty to their religion and deity.

With the mysterious passing of her father, she found herself inheriting her holy weapon, rather than earning it herself; shortly afterward, the Order shifted its beliefs to serve the then newly crowned king, a multitude of its highranking members claiming that the light deity herself had come to them in a dream, ordering them to give their support to the king. Arcadia blindly followed, eventually serving in the kingdom's army as a prodigious warrior due to the strength her father's axe gave her.

Personality:
He tries to avoid trouble, but unknowingly invites it. Although he doesn’t consider himself a bad person, he has a tendency of being irritable as he’s quick to defend himself and attempt to turn arguments over. He tries to avoid humans, as the King has eyes and ears everywhere, and as such has a slight mistrust towards them.

Backstory: Once a part of a neighboring kingdom’s infantry unit, where non-humans were welcome, Tyrus led a disciplined, yet comfortable life as a member of the Blackstone Vanguard. This infantry unit was in a moderately high level ranking— the second highest of five in the Kingdom of Laverosa —and as such was well respected in both the Crown’s eye and that of the public. However, as soon as King Jules heard about the unimaginable force of power that Rivannia had utilized to conquer the surrounding territories, the monarch invited the forces in, without putting up a fight. He beckoned to his armies to avoid any action, as this would only cause death and destruction to all that they had built. Without a second thought, King Jules gave his own life, an inevitable loss, to protect those of his people.

Several years had passed. The original infantry was turned into a mockery by the local citizens who didn’t hesitate to label them as worthless cowards for letting the siege happen. They were ridiculed, and being a part of the once proud armada was now an embarrassment. The size of the legions began dwindling in size, slowly being replaced by Rivannia’s own soldiers. Eventually, Tyrus and his remaining comrades were deployed for maintaining order in the city as patrol units, which made their interactions with the citizens far more intolerable.

It wasn’t until a few weeks later that rumors of a “labor” camp was built on the outskirts of the kingdom. Then, the disappearances started occurring only days later. Though Tyrus remained loyal to his faction, and to some extent to the now ruling Kingdom, who did technically invite a time of economic prosperity, it was hard to ignore that non-humans and extremist groups were being targeted. Being a part of the once regal armed forces didn’t manage to sway opinions, either, as close acquaintances from his unit suddenly stopped appearing for rounds.

Eventually, this occurrence reached specifically against the once regal soldiers of the Laverosa Guard. When a Laverosa soldier disappeared, a Rivannian face had soon replaced their position. A mage from a lower ranking by the name of Hugo Ferrous was one of the few friends Tyrus had in the unit. Although he didn’t know him initially until they were forced into patrolling the city, Hugo convinced the Lizaro to join him in fleeing the Kingdom before they, too, mysteriously disappeared. Knowing the entrances and secret routes between the walls of the city like the back of his hand, the two managed to escape the “cleansing” from the Rivannia forces, fleeing to wherever they could. Unfortunately, Hugo had something personal to attend to, and so the two took to their own path soon after.

To this day, he avoids settling down and keeps searching for a place to call home. But as the days continue to pass, so does the influence of King Valerian. Wherever he goes, discrimination is always just around the corner. Sometimes passive, sometimes more active, but it’s always there. Tyrus is constantly looking over his shoulder, possessed by a sense of creeping paranoia, as if something else left the Kingdom that day. Something that wants him back.

    Tyrus stands at a height of 6’6”, weighing in at 240 lbs. The armor he fled with from his order has been modified to sever ties with Laverosa (in order to avoid being identified), and as such has been reduced in wholeness (as explained in the Armor heading). He has bright red slits for eyes, well contrasted against his dorsal scales that are a dark alternation between a dull blue and murky green, while his ventral scales diminish into a faded shade of tan. He sports long dagger-like claws on his hands and feet that he’s not shy of using, with sharpened rows of teeth, as well as a powerful tail spanning over half of his body height.


Items & Personal Belongings:
As a traveler, Tyrus is never seen without his canvas knapsack. It stores a single change of clothing, enough prepared food and water to last him a full eight days of being active (or longer if he's inactive, as a Lizaro merit), his currency, a sheathe for his axe, and it even has a strap that allows for his axe to be fastened.


    • Blackstone Vanguard: As a previous ranking knight, Tyrus is well versed in combat. This spans from many heavy weapons and armors, to their lighter variations, as well as shields of all sizes.

    • Southwest Culinary Arts: Tyrus is capable of cooking great restorative meals, though usually requires decent or prime ingredients.

    • Arts and Crafts: Developing weapons, traps, and basic camps in the wilderness comes naturally due to past training.

Spells & Magic:
  • Deafening Roar: A loud, magical growl that paralyzes targets for a split moment; this can't be used while moving or attacking, and repetitive casts become far less effective. Best used in short-medium range, with diminished effect at medium-long range.

  • Semblance of the Insolent: Tyrus enrages a single target against him, forcing them to attack him for a short moment. Only works in short range, and if used repetitively, requires more magic to be used successfully.

  • Blink Strike: Through the use of magic and energy, performs a very quick and sudden lunge with his weapon as a gap closing technique. The longer the distance that closes the gap, the more tiring and inaccurate it will become. This magic technique can't be used past medium-long range.

  • Crushing Blow: Tyrus can charge his two-handed heavy weapon with magic, unleashing an attack capable of shredding armor. The attack itself is very slow, and requires moderate amounts of both energy and magic. If the weapon is overcharged, it can create a disruptive shock wave, though leaves Tyrus exhausted momentarily.

Weaknesses:
  • Tyrus hates talking about his past as it makes him feel like a failure. This is due to the years of abuse and mistreatment by the people he served over the many years of a Rivannia-occupied Laverosa, while also feeling powerless to freeing those wrongly imprisoned. Without much surprise, this has also led to low self-esteem.

  • He is known for having a drinking problem, mainly due to the above. He does well in preventing scenes when around company, as he feels more at ease, though is far more irresponsible when alone.

  • Tyrus is not afraid of throwing his weight around— he isn't a stranger to joining fights, or further instigating them. To him, being outnumbered is only temporary. Being overpowered is merely a test of strength.

  • He's not fond of wizards or anything pertaining to the arcane arts, even though he himself uses abilities that channel from a magical to physical energy plane.

Personality: Sarel is completely and incomprehensibly insane. He only cares for one thing in this world, Myhirus. Everything else is a tool he uses to elevate Myhirus. Beneath that façade, Sarel is a dauntless devil that will bath an entire race of people in fire if it will lift even a modicum of weight from his heart: Myhirus. Sarel isn't as perfectly unhinged as you think. It is obvious, from beyond the 4th wall, that he loves the children he cares for, but he can't really see the forest for the trees, and Myhirus is all the trees.

Backstory: Sarel is a ghost. He has taken great pains to erase his past from the annals of history and eradicate his memory out of the minds of everyone, including Myhirus. If Sarel were to tell anyone, which he never would, his past, he would say that his life truly started on the day Myhirus saved him from being killed for stealing King Arthus’ crown; an act that he had been framed for.

Sarel Havenheart was born Larse Annisson, a bastard and an orphan. An unfortunate nexus of negativity, Larse went through life experiencing all the worst evils that humanity could possibly visit on a young man without killing him. He’d been beaten, torture, raped, castrated, infected, experimented on, used as a floormat, enslaved, and much more. All his honorable actions came out to nil. He even tried to return the King’s stolen crown, and was to be executed, when the insightful speculation of the Crown Prince changed his life forever.

Given a new lease on life, and summarily banished from Rivannia, Larse set out to reinvent himself into someone who could be successful. He’d return victorious and earn the attentions of Myhirus once again. After being exiled for a decade as Larse, Sarel returned to the kingdom and used every imaginable, and a few unimaginable, tactic to rise through the ranks and get even closer to Myhirus. He is not exactly happy with the darkness that has become Myhirus’ heart but it is not his place to question who Myhirus has become; his only concern is to support Myhirus’ goals regardless of where they might take them.

Now, Sarel tends to the children in his care at the orphanage he paid to have built; it took everything he had to build and, now, maintain Havenheart. He takes in all human children, regardless of their background and will care for them for as long as they wish to be upstanding and resourceful citizens of the kingdom. Years of careful planning, greasing palms, and a few assassinations has allowed Sarel to place his children in various influential positions in the government and military. They are as beholden to Sarel, as Sarel is to Myhirus, maybe even more.

Please, there is no competition. Sarel and Ori may end up secretly hating each other (Idk how Sarel would react, honestly) but they each know who they are to Myhirus, and neither of them is stupid enough to further trouble already turbulent waters.

Technically no, since he doesn't have a brain. YOHOHOHO! No seriously, it's no like Aurelius is itching for a fight nor is he stupid, he just has no free will and follows the orders of his master.
 
I was thinking about the part mentioned where the king's rule led to a lot of economic growth, and I was thinking that it would be interesting to have a merchant character that sided with him purely for economic reasons, so... this happened.

Personality: Cardinal is only a mere shadow of his former self, both figuratively and literally. He almost never moves from his singular sitting position, slouching against a wall or other surface while gazing down at his hands or floor. His only and singular concern is acquiring riches and other currency, but rather than spend them at all, he simply stares at them or plays with them in his hands. Due to his single-minded goals, he is willing to do absolutely anything for the sake of acquiring more riches, even if it means forsaking others' wellbeing for it. He has an arrogant attitude towards others.

Backstory: Cardinal was an aspiring, naive alchemist who crafted medicinal potions and other alchemic remedies in his youth. He started a merchantry with his two siblings, Argent and Orchid, and due to his parents being absent for much of his life, he considered his siblings to be his only family, and were utterly devoted to them. At the time, he only sought to help others, caring little for the amount of profit he made off of it. However, his small business became more successful than he could have ever imagined, gaining fame and profits at a miraculously quick pace. He was hailed as an alchemic genius, and his company grew exponentially.

However, his goals very slowly evolved into profiting from business rather than aiding people for a cheaper price, being overwhelmed with greed from the amount of money he was making. He moved to crush any competition in the industry, attempting to gain a monopoly upon it. During this time, his siblings were also killed while having a dispute with an exceptionally unruly customer, leaving him overwhelmed with grief and nothing else to indulge himself with except money. He began to isolate himself, holing himself up in his home, and refused to eat or sleep, but managed his business from afar behind the scenes. Soon inevitably passing away from starvation, his flood of negative emotions brought him back as an undead spirit, and he has continued to sit against his wall, managing his now large empiric company ever since.

PHYSICAL
Appearance
: Cardinal, being long dead, takes the form of a dark, unnaturally slim silhouette. His eyes appear to be dimly flickering white lights. He wears layers of clothing that appear to be expensive and once vibrant shades of read and gold, but they have long faded and become tattered. The most notable of his items of clothing is his now dull red cloak, fastened together by rusted gold chains. Even his "face" is half covered by a large red cap.

-Is nearly defenceless in combat, save for his one offensive magic ability, and offensive items he can craft through alchemy.
-Despite his confident attitude, he takes offence to insults very easily.
