Frisk

The Underground had fallen silent, for many a night. The King dead or missing, the human souls gone, and even the human Frisk had vanished. Most monsters went into mourning, and through their cry came the Queen. Toriel, partly thanks to Sans, left the Ruins to take over the throne in Asgore's wake. She ruled on a shaky foundation for a week or so, but till Undyne came around, things were tough on the new Queen. Once the captain of the Royal Guard finally chose to support Toriel, most monsters didn't listen to any of her decrees. But with the full support of the most prominent monsters in the Underground, she began to change things for the better. After nearly two weeks since the 'New Tragedy', as it's called, all monsters began to reclaim some semblance of hope. Or at least...they found contentment in staying where they were. Thanks to big idols such as Mettaton, the happiness and glamour of the Underground rose to it's once former glory, and beyond.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If only...if only it didn't happen like it did. If Asgore didn't die, if Frisk did...would things be better? Would they be worse? What if no one had to die?...these are the things that the human pondered. Frisk had finally defeated Mega Flowey, only to come to the realization that she couldn't escape. Without any monster souls, she was stuck. Stuck in the barrier in between the over, and under worlds. She couldn't go either way. There was nothing but light, her thoughts, and...nothingness. With so little to do, and so long to do it, the only thing Frisk could manage, was to think. And the more she thought, the more damage she did to herself. Thinking things like, 'If only I did this, or that. And not this, or that.' She came to the conclusion, that it was all her fault. Asgore's death, the monsters getting trapped all over again, her own...death? Or whatever this was. It was her fault.
But then...whenever 'then' was, the light started to...fade. It darkened, into a shape. A figure. Nothing Frisk recognized, but at the same time...it gave off such a familiar feeling. It was tall, vaguely humanoid, and it's head had two large cracks. The figure didn't speak, it didn't move. But even though it made no motion, the human knew it was speaking. She swore it's hands flashed signs, and symbols, but it never moved. She was admittedly frightened, mostly because she had gone...days, weeks? Without seeing anything but light. The figure's...eyes? Widened, and the cracks on it's face grew out of the bounds, and began cracking the entire area. Like throwing a rock through a mirror, the entire cage Frisk was trapped in shattered.
The last thing she seen, was the figure. Her eyes set on it, as she lost consciousness. It was...a skeleton?...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A lone body laid on a dead patch of grass. Her brown hair flowed down, over her shoulders, resting just shy of her biceps. The straight hair glistened, gently blowing from the light breeze in the air. Her eyes cracked open just slightly, allowing light red eyes to peer out. Fluttering open, the girl shot up, grasping at her body. Feeling it, seeing it, made her calm down a tad. She was alive.

I...I'm b-back. How?

Memory of the light, or the figure...it was blurry, but the memories did come back. Every time she thought of the mysterious figure however, her head would splint in pain. Deciding it wasn't worth the time, or pain, Frisk went back to her current situation. Somehow, she made it back. Out of the barrier, out of the cage. Looking around, it seemed she was in the room just before the barrier, where she fought Asgore. Looking down, she realized she had been asleep on the lone patch of grass. Getting on her knees, she stood up. But immediately fell back down from a wave of nausea.

Then, Frisk took a closer look at her body. It was...different. Bigger?...no, older. Running her fingers through her hair, she pulled it out farther then ever before. Previously, it had only been down to her ear. Now, it stretched out fairly long. Letting go, it rested just below her shoulders. Taking a closer look at her arms and legs...they were both longer. She had aged. Doesn't seem a whole lot. Frisk was about...fourteen before the fight with Flowey. If she had to take an educated guess, she was now somewhere near sixteen. The thought that she somehow aged during her time in the barrier, was bizarre. But the evidence was right in front of her. It WAS her.

Shaking it off for now, Frisk tried getting back up. Another spur of dizziness hit, but this time she was ready for it. After standing up for a few moments, she finally felt okay enough to walk. The human left the room, and walked down into the Throne Room. Memories of Asgore hit her hard, as her eyes set on...his...throne?

That's not...his throne.

It wasn't as big, and didn't have the same decorations. The only thing that was the same, was the Delta symbol. Walking over to it, and examining it, proved it was in fact, a different throne. Looking over to where the old throne was once stored with a sheet, showed it was no longer there. Confused, Frisk kept on walking. Passing through the blank hallways, and choosing to not look at the graves, she went on to the Last Corridor. The sun shown in, lighting up the golden hallway. The pillars still looked spectacular, and memories of what Sans told her in this place rose to the surface. He was so...creepy, and scary in that moment. Questioning, and judging her for her actions. He had encouraged her to look within herself. Something she didn't take lightly.

Quickly crossing the span of the hallway, Frisk then went on to go all the way to the Core, where she ran into the River Person.

"Tralala, would you care for a ride?" They spoke, motioning for the human to get on. Simply nodding, Frisk shuffled onto the boat. Without a word, it took off down the river.

~~~~
"You've seen him haven't you? I warned you, didn't I?" They spoke, not even bothering to turn around. The two questions confused Frisk. Who were they referring to?
~~~~

"Tralala, come back any time!" Once again nodding, Frisk got off the boat, and heading into the cold. She went to Snowdin, without ever asking the River Person to take her there.

They must've just known.

Walking through through the snow was...different. It had been so long since she was here, and the cold air and the freezing white substance reminded her of why. All she wanted to do, was see a familiar face. And the River Person didn't count. Trudging into town, she forced her way through the snow to the place that was once the Skeleton Brother's house. Hoping that one of them would be there, she knocked on the door.

Two weeks.

It's been two weeks, since that kid....

Two weeks, and no reset... what's taking 'em so long?

Heh, whatever. This doesn't really change anything, does it.

Sans the skeleton was usually not the sort of guy to be impatient or worried. Actually, he wasn't the sort of guy to really feel any sort of those emotions, not anymore. He wasn't 'rattled' very easily, heh. But this time was giving him a bit of a run for his money. It had been two weeks, since he had judged the human, the anomaly in the Judgment Hall. He had done his job, sure. But that didn't mean that he still had things to face after that. In fact, the way that the kid had chosen for the path of this world by killing their king and causing the souls to disappear... well, it wasn't so nice at first. But well, some could only hope that the situation that the human had now was better then what it was like now, considering what it had taken for them to get there. But whatever, it didn't matter.

The human had vanished from the Underground after Sans had judged them and they went forward to confront the king. The monsters were left without hope too, without the souls there was practically no hope for them now and without their beloved king. For the short skeleton having no hope anymore was practically natural to accept anyways. He would go along with the flow as usual, wait for the reset and for this all to end, when he least expected it, probably. That was how it worked. But after a while... well, there was no ending to it all. When he woke up in his bed in Snowdin during those days where everything was wrought with misery and uneasiness about the situation and he saw the snow gently falling outside of his window, he expected it all to be over then and for there to be a new start.

But... it wasn't. It was hard for him, to wake up and find his brother, expecting to get a scolding about not recalibrating his puzzles again, and instead Papyrus was usually thinking about the human or something about the matters going on lately. Heh. It was a trash situation for him at first, to wake up and face the general mood everywhere. Nothing was the same anymore. The situation had probably gotten to his bro, too, which hurt Sans the most to see. His brother didn't deserve to have to experience such a disheartening situation, none of them did. Yet here they were, weren't they? Sometimes none of them deserved, what the anomaly put them through, but that was just how it worked with the anomalies of the timelines, he supposed. There was just something in him though... something that just couldn't stand this unpleasant mood bearing down on everybody. He was used to being hopeless about situations- there was nothing to hope about anymore. Sure, hope was the last emotion that people usually wanted to let go of... but he had, a while ago.

But how could a funny guy like him tell jokes to an unhappy audience? Quite simply, he couldn't. But it wasn't only that, it was everything about the messed up situation as usual. This certain feeling, this certain thing that would persist as an unpleasant tense thing at the bottom of his gut, or lack of it, caused him to actually make a move for once. Or at least, he did something useful, kind of. When he went to the big door in the woods outside of Snowdin to once again knock the old lady out with his hilarious jokes, well... their conversation had went a bit weird. She had wanted to know about the human child he had promised to protect, and he was just kind of glad that she was still alive to respond to him anyways. Eventually Sans had gave his awkward rendition of what the situation was in the Underground at the moment, much to the other one's shock. When he had left... he had sensed something different about her, something determined in a way. Heh. If only he could feel that emotion anymore.

But he quickly realized who the old lady actually was when Toriel, the former Queen stepped up to rule over the Underground. Frankly, Sans wasn't too surprised, but at least someone could maybe restore a bit of order and hope to the Underground, though it was hard to have his hopes up. Surprisingly though, after a little while things had actually improved. Under the support of important figures of the Underground such as Undyne and others, the Queen seemed to grow more popular, and things more at ease. The skeleton was just relieved about this plain and simple, which was strange. It didn't really matter to him what happened anyways, right? Well, if anything, at least his brother could hopefully be as carefree and pursuing of his dreams as ever now. Heh. His bro was so cool, to even have dreams to try to achieve or improve himself. Sans didn't really care about such things because there was no reason to. But thins surprisingly enough began to... thrive in the Underground? It surprised him, but things became a bit more pleasant for everybody, a bit more encouraging for the spirits of most everyone. And he didn't mind that so much, either.

It was still a waiting game until everything started over again, but at least meanwhile things were good. Even though.... he didn't have the heart to get too involved in it, after all this wouldn't last. It never did. So he hadn't changed much in the eyes of others during this sort period of two weeks, but then again he never did much either. It was a normal day, or at least what could be considered normal these days. Sans and his brother Papyrus were in their house, the place in Snowdin that was one of the homeliest and coolest places in the little town, aside from Grillby's. The shorter skeleton was sprawled out on the green sofa, sitting in a slumped sitting position as one elbow rested on the right sofa armrest. His other arm was supporting his bony neck and his eyelids narrowed a bit over his black eye sockets.

It seemed to be clear, that he was snoozing, though really he was just in a state of not being aware of things too much. It was a sort of thing he did to try to keep trash thoughts out of mind and focus by not focusing on anything much. It caused even more of a tired and laziness feeling to well up inside him, and caused him sometimes to take naps even if he didn't mean it, but for now he was partly awake. He was currently taking a snoozing time, while enjoying his brother's company in the house. Even his bro's presence was assuring enough, and something that amused him and caused him to not so harshly feel the emptiness feeling he got about things a lot of the time. Sans was alerted out of his state, though, by a knocking on the door. He let out a bit of a grunt when he heard it, opening his eyes to reveal his small white pupils as he glanced about the room, though it was kind of hard to crane his neck the right way to look over at the door. He let out a bit of a yawn, stretching out his bony arms while he could.

He glanced at where his brother was probably at with a wide grin. "hey, bro, could you get that? i'm feeling pretty 'bone' tired at the moment, heh... cause y'know, bones..." Sans muttered in the direction of the other one in his usual casual tone, not bothering to raise his voice. He was rather out of it at this time, which was why he didn't really care to answer any doors at the moment, though. Eventually, though, he got a bit curious about who it could be at this time. Whether his brother went to answer the door or not, the shorter skeleton slowly got up too, once again stretching a bit before heading to the door. He shuffled there tiredly, his slippers making slight shuffling noises on the carpet, until he reached the door. Once it was opened, he waved a hand slightly, grinning his usual friendly grin with visible pupils, until he realized who was there.

"hey ther..." Sans' hand froze midair, and his pupils got smaller for a second. It was... the kid... yet different. They sure were taller, the first thing to notice. But that wasn't all that was different, of course. But he quickly composed himself rather easily, stuffing both hands in his pockets like he had never hesitated at all. He grinned wide, examining who was there closely, though in the end didn't make any expression aside from his usual grin. Well, this was unexpected, to say the least. "heya, kiddo." He greeted casually, as if he had been expecting them all along, or at least that it seemingly was a pleasant surprise. Honestly, he wasn't quite sure how to feel about this. Sans was shifting a bit, until he spoke up again, his grin getting a bit more playful as he winked towards the kid that he hadn't expected to see again 'til the next reset. "bit of a surprise to see you back here. heh. and a bit grown up too, i see."

Frisk

The human awkwardly stood in front of the door, not hearing any movements from the inside. Hardly anyone was out and about in the town right now, but those few who were didn't seem to notice Frisk. She began having some serious second thoughts about the whole thing, visiting the skeletons and all. Was it a good idea? Was it a bad idea?...were they even still alive? Obviously Frisk had somehow aged a few years, so did the rest of the Underground also? Who knew what even happened during the time she was gone...or was it just yesterday? So many questions ran through her mind, that Frisk began panicking. So much could go wrong right now. Or...could go right. More, and more questions led to a more and more panicked girl.

It was all too much. She started backing away, when the door flew open. Inside was...Sans. All her thoughts drop dead at the sight of him. He was here, alive. Which meant that things didn't go to hell. He seemed taken aback at the sight of the human, but tried to play it off. It didn't work. A long pause stretched out between the two. It was...awkward to say the least. Frisk couldn't manage to say anything. There was just...so much to say, that it was overwhelming. But thankfully for both of them, Sans spoke back up. He commented on her older appearance, and she felt relieved she hadn't imagined it.

"Ah...y-yeah, I wasn't...expecting to be back here...e-ever." Her words faltered, still trying to figure out exactly what to say. Another uncomfortable few moments passed, till Frisk spoke up again. "I am grown up? Well that's...I'm not really sure what happened with that. Does it look...bad?" A vague question, that could mean many things. Realizing this, she spoke once more, "About my...appearance." The human was never this bad, she always had a purpose in the way she talked. But now...she was a little broken. And it showed in her voice.

Papyrus stared blankly into his pot of flawlessly made spaghetti, the dinner for that night for his brother and himself. He was lost in thought, again. It had been happening a lot since that string of weird events had happened. His whole royal guard dream had been blown out of the water when the king, what was it again?

“Vacation…” he muttered to himself.

Sans had told him that the king was out on a nice tropical vacation. How unfair! Papyrus had been feeling rather not like himself, and felt that he and his friends deserved a nice little vacation to get their minds off of the funk they were in. Where even was this tropical place? Papyrus had never visited anywhere with such a description before, but he had seen it in the Library once or twice, “tropical” seemed pretty good to him.

He stirred his spaghetti and smiled while imagining himself and all his friends in the place he saw in the book. “I bet Sans would love new scenery to laze around in.”

His lazy brother had been even more lazy as of recently. He seemed to recalibrate his puzzles and stay at his sentry station less and less, if that was even possible. He had been acting rather unusual since Frisk had disappeared and the king had gone on vacation. This unsettling behavior was why, because he was such a great and noble skeleton, he was willing to butcher his pasta recipe for his dear, punny brother. He eyed the bottle of ketchup with chagrin and sighed.

“It’s so hard being such a good brother, maybe I can ask the new queen where King Asgore is chilling.” He scratched his head with his sauce stirring spoon, effectively flinging pasta onto his head and the wall in front of him.

Not that it mattered though, he was going to clean after dinner as he always did. He deserved like, at least twelve accolades for his cooking skills alone. ‘Maybe even a spot on Mettaton’s cooking show!’ He thought excitedly to himself. Ah well, such lovely legged illusions of grandeur could wait! Now was about his brother’s disgusting food preferences. He snatched the bottle of ketchup with vigor and prepared to ruin his prized dish. All of his focus was put into this one moment. His dish could perhaps be saved if he oh so carefully added the ketchup.

His brother’s voice broke him from his steely concentration and the entire bottle was dropped into the pot. Something about a door? ‘This is no time to be thinking about doors!’ he thought angrily to himself. He had no time do see about doors when there was a pot of spaghetti to mourn! His entire batch of pasta was now a ketchupy mess. With a sigh the skeleton strode to their living room couch where he expected to find his brother lazing about. But he wasn’t there. Instead he was at the door talking to someone? Since when did Sans invite people over? More importantly, since when do people come over to their house and not ‘IMMEDIATELY ASK FOR MY HANDSOME AUTOGRAPH AND FRIENDSHIP?!’ The skeleton huffed and marched to where his brother, prepared to teach him about true hospitality and how to introduce people as famous and noble as himself, when he stopped. There was a face he hadn’t thought he would see for a while. The human looked a little different from what he remembered, and it looked like she and Sans were in the middle of a conversation. The skeleton turned to return to his kitchen, choosing the gentlemanly route and not wanting to interrupt his brother and the human. He could always say hello later.

(Ob my goodness Paps, that was wonderful! <3 Nice job, dear! And also to TheGossipLink as well! By the way I'm sorry if I mess up on the pronouns on what to call Frisk. 'they' and 'them' became too much of a habit. >.< )

sans.

So. The kid was back. That was the first thing in Sans' mind at the moment. He didn't understand it, and stupidly enough the first thing that he had comprehended about it was that the kid sure was taller. Strangely enough, she had gotten longer hair too, and gotten older in general. Just what? He had expected another reset... for it all to begin over again, like always. Waiting had kind of affected his behavior lately, too. So now... he didn't know what to think. He wasn't sure if he liked this. After all, what would the kid do now? She had completed her adventure, whatever the conclusion of it had been. The skeleton was starting to more and more doubt how much the anomaly actually cared about any of them after the many timelines the anomaly caused. And... no matter how much he tried, which overall wasn't too much anymore, she just couldn't seem to be happy or content with some bad laughs, some good food, some nice friends. At least, none of this had ended yet.

She didn't seem to ever be really... happy. Though it wasn't like he could really interpret happiness that well. All the same, nothing had suggested the kid might want to return, after seemingly having the opportunity to go to the surface. She had killed some monsters, after all. He just didn't understand this kid, at all. It wasn't like he didn't want to, just that he couldn't at the moment, and had almost given up on trying at this point, even if they weren't so bad this time. When Frisk begin to speak since the first time he had heard her do it in... well, a while, he could only listen for a few minutes with his hands in his pockets, trying not to show anymore of his hesitation and confusion about the situation. When she said she wasn't expecting to come back here ever, Sans couldn't help but tilt his head a bit. His eyes didn't narrow, though, as much as he felt reserved feelings about this information.

He just grinned a bit wider, even though it wasn't a fully genuine grin, it was still pretty convincing as a friendly gesture. "i see.... welp, it's a surprise for both of us then kiddo." Sans said this in a relaxed way, as if this situation didn't affect him at all, even if he had shown some surprise previously about it. He actually gave a genuine tilt of his head though when the kid asked if she looked bad. After she clarified her words a bit, the short skeleton realized what she was trying to ask. Oh. Well, that was something he wasn't too surprised she was asking about, but to him she just looked like the same kid in his dreams... the faint images in his subconscious of them standing at the background of a sunset or the more sickening image of them covered in dust with a dull knife in hand. Yup, it still like them alright, the anomaly. Come to think about it... the kid looked different now though, and surely she looked more mature too. Heh. It wasn't so bad to him, he supposed. "naw, don't sweat it kid." The skeleton then winked at them once again in more of a playful and impish way. "you look fine." Sans glanced back in the house when he heard a noise he had been hoping to hear- someone approaching. But as he glanced there though, his brother had turned to leave again, probably back towards the kitchen to continue making whatever he was going to make. He quickly glanced back at the kid, a sweat drop or two starting to slide. "heh, anyways..." His eyes narrowed, his eyelids showing over his black eye sockets, though for once Sans didn't mean this in a more sinister way.

The skeleton returned to having a normal expression though a moment later. "you were coming to see my brother again, right?" He winked casually at the kid once again. "he's inside. come on in." With this said, Sans then stepped aside to let Frisk in, keeping the door open for her with one arm, though he started leaning on it after a few moments with one shoulder as he tried to stay aside. He kept watching her closely, though not so much in an intrusive way, or at least it hopefully didn't seem that way. The shorter skeleton then glanced towards where he had seen Paps, hoping his brother would be willing to come and take over the situation. He wasn't good with these sorts of stuffs, to say the least. He tried to alert the other skeleton in his same normal tone, once again not bothering to raise his voice all that much. "hey bro. guess who showed up." Sans paused for a moment, a very pleasing opportunity coming in mind to him as he winked towards whoever glanced his way."we got some 'frisk'y company with us now."

“SANS!!” the skeleton screeched at the top of this lungs from the kitchen. “NO INSUFFERABLE PUNS!! ESPECIALLY NOT ONES ABOUT GUESTS!!”

He sighed and smiled. “No matter,” the skeleton smiled,”I have prepared a feast fit for the king and queen! But in this case, two skeletons and a special human!” He smiled proudly. “I specially tweaked my recipe just to encompass your disgusting ketchup, my lazybones brother. And now the human gets to sample expertly crafted spaghetti,THE LIKES OF WHICH HAVE NEVER BEEN SEEN BEFORE!”

The skeleton hefted the pot of spaghetti to the living room and set it down in front of the couch. Boy was it heavy, and it smelled like Sans when he filled the bath with ketchup and then soaked in it. That was back before the human… It felt like forever ago. ’That doesn’t matter right now!’ He immediately silenced his sad thoughts. His friend was back! His puzzle making, spaghetti loving companion had returned! This was the happiest moment in a long time and by golly it would be filled with spaghetti and joy. Papyrus scooped the human in to a hug and spun her around. It was kind of messy considering his extreme cooking methods, and awkward because the human was bigger than he last remembered.

“My, my, Frisk! You have been following that work out regimen I gave you, you’re bigger than when I last saw you! But you're still just as lovely!” He ruffled her hair and grinned. “Have a seat, my disappearing human-y friend, and eat your fill of my signature ‘Sans Spaghetti’! We have a lot to,” the skeleton smirked and could barely hold in his giggles, “ketch-up on!! NYEH HEH HEH HEH!!”

Frisk

Numerous expressions, laid back, and never slow to a joke. It was Sans alright. While some of his reactions caused Frisk to think, for the most part he seemed to be the same skeleton he ever was. Which all in all, made her relax significantly. While not all of her worries faded away, most did. Sans' comment and wink, on her appearance, made the human blush a tad. She really needed to see a mirror soon. Her body was noticeably different, but how exactly, had it changed? According to the skeleton, it wasn't a bad change. Still blushing just a tad, Frisk looked down once more...and realized she was certainly more...mature. Such thoughts caused her to look away, till Sans continued his monologue.

Did she come to see Papyrus?...not specifically. "Well...to be honest, I just...really needed to see a familiar face." Before she could say anymore, Sans invited her into the house. Not wanting to leave the skeleton hanging, the human walked in. It was the same as the last time she was here, with the pet rock on the table to her right, the kitchen in front where a very busy taller skeleton bustled around, and the infamous sock with notes pilled high. Speaking of the taller skeleton brother, Papyrus yelled at his shorter comrade, like old times. Frisk couldn't help but chuckle a bit, at the 'anger' of Papyrus with his brother's puns.

The pasta lover walked out of the kitchen carrying a large pot of what Frisk could only assume was his...spaghetti. Oh, that she didn't miss quite as much. Even still, the comfort of the smell coming from both the pot, and the skeleton, burned away even more of her worries. To the point that she had a hard time dwelling on her darker, recent memories. Papyrus swooped her up in a hug, spinning her around in his own happiness. Frisk couldn't help but laugh along with is joy. However he did get her a bit messy, from the splatter of his cooking. And the human guessed he wasn't expecting her weight, because the spin was a little awkward. Still, he tried.

As he ruffled her hair, Frisk grinned at his ignorance. Still the same, naive Papyrus she once knew...then she realized...if he didn't know about her obvious growth, then he most likely was also in the dark about the King's death. Her laughter died off quickly, and her expression was grim for a moment. But taking the route of Sans, she tried to laugh it off.

"Y-yeah, I followed your regime as closely as I could. After all, it had to be as great as the future leader of the royal guard!" Taking a seat on the green couch, Frisk tried fixing up her hair a bit. It was a little awkward though, as she wasn't used to the new length. She also had to adjust how she sat, because well...she was bigger now. That thought was weird. You don't notice the changes in your body while your growing up, but to just...jump a few years, you really notice. "I'll eat as much as I can." Truer words, were never spoken. "So, Papyrus...w-what've you been up to?" By now, her normal expression had returned. The taller skeleton didn't seem to notice the mild mood swing, thankfully. She didn't know about the shorter Judge though.

sans.

Sans was kind of relieved that Papyrus was responding to his half hearted all and would probably chat with Frisk now, and the two could have their little reunion now. Surely this would lift his brother's mood even more to see the kid again after they thought they might not see her again. He could only hope it would, which was strange since he wasn't the sort of guy to hope about anything. It just wasn't his thing. Anyway, first off Paps seemed especially annoyed by his hilarious pun this time. He had to resist snickering as he shut the door to the little house, and glanced back at the kitchen where his brother was now.

The shorter skeleton listened as the other one announced his latest spaghetti endeavor, which made Sans' dimpled grin stretch just a bit wider in a genuine way when he heard his brother talking about what he had made now. His bro was so cool, always trying out new things and trying to improve with his cooking at all, or at least from what the shorter skeleton saw of it the other one seemed to be improving. He wasn't so motivated, about anything really. Knowing that Paps could be motivated or determined about such things... and how the other one stayed that way too, well, that almost made his day right there. Even though it would be spent relaxing during his infamous and very consistent breaks either way.

He was a bit surprised that the other skeleton had made some sort of spaghetti that had his preferred ketchup in it, usually Papyrus hated the stuff. Heh. Now that sounded like a good meal. He really just liked ketchup to help with drowning away certain trash thoughts, and distracting himself. Plus he just liked the stuff, anyways, it was one of the only food items that he kind of became attached too. It was like his habits to laze around and relax without focusing on much, it was meant as a sort of hollow distraction from trash things, as well as just feeling good too. After his brother spoke, though, a new opportunity quickly came to mind, like it just did for the shorter skeleton sometimes. He winked in the direction of Papyrus and the kid as he stood facing their general direction. "i see what you're spaghettin at, bro." He allowed himself a bit of a chuckle, mostly from amusement at himself and his impressive knack for these sort of things. He knew it annoyed Papyrus- and that was part of why he did it, plus he knew the other one's anger usually wasn't genuine. It was kind of funny too, getting his bro riled up in that way. His gaze and little white pupils glanced off to the side for a moment, his grin becoming a bit more playful. "heh."

Sans then looked back at his brother with a normal grin and expression and a rather straight face, becoming as serious as he would ever be able the rather relaxed situation."sounds cool, paps." As his brother brought in the spaghetti in the living area and set it in front of their sofa, then lifted Frisk in a hug and spun her around in the air. Even if it wasn't completely successful, Sans stood leaning against one of the walls of the house with his hands still stuffed in his hoodie pockets, watching them with a wide grin. It was cool, to see the kid and his brother like this, even if he knew it might not last and all. Still, it was nice to remember for memory's sake sometimes, since it was always nice to see Paps like this. His brother was the best. While the kid and the other skeleton talked, he paid attention to the kid's expression. Mostly because it was a habit, and also he kind of was curious to do so anyways.

After all, Frisk seemed to have changed a lot psychically, what about mentally? He noticed some hesitation and a bit of a seriousness on the kid's face for a moment or two, and a stutter or two during here statements. This puzzled the short skeleton and made him a bit suspicious, but other then that the kid seemed fine to him. He was good at reading expressions and motives and all, though he was sure the kid just must be a bit unsettled about her big change and all, right? Anyways, it was none of his business... yet, and he didn't care to know. Yet, he still noticed it. When Frisk sat down at the green sofa, Sans walked over to the side of it that wasn't occupied. He sat down on it with a bit of a grunt and a flop there, like his tired bones had been waiting for a place to rest all day. Even though it hadn't been too long since he had been lounging on it earlier. Sans couldn't help but let out an actual chuckle when Papyrus made a pun.

He knew his brother had a funny bone in him there still, and it made him kind of amused and satisfied that at least he wasn't always alone with the bad pun making... aside from the Queen, of course. He once again let one of his arms support his bony neck, and glanced at the spaghetti pot there. He intended to try some too, of course, it was kind of made with him in mind too, surprisingly enough. But ladies first, right? The shorter skeleton really liked the scent drifting from the pot, though, that he smelled. It was like when he was at his sentry post in the Snowdin woods, but stronger and there was a bit of a stronger smell to it. Maybe when he spilled a lot of it at Grillby's or took one of his ketchup baths... but it had been a while since he had taken one of those, heh. Anyways, the smell was kind of soothing for him, or at least pretty pleasant to have that strong tang in the air. But he was most interested and amused to see the kid's reaction to such a cool type of spaghetti.

Sans grinned wide at the kid, leaning a bit more onto the back of the sofa as he winked at her. "'bone' appetite, kiddo." After the kid would take some and maybe try it, he intended to do the same for himself too, if they did. This was what they mentioned wanting, right? Familiar faces. Heh. Yeah, they sure got those. Sans knew that bad jokes, good food, and nice friends might not satisfy the kid ever, but at least they could keep giving it a try, right? Heh, yeah right. But he didn't mind this too much with the kid so far, though. it was kind of nice seeing the two like this. If only it could last, maybe he'd care enough to assert himself a bit more in the situation too, instead of just going along with the flow while making some comments meanwhile, which was what he was doing now.

The skeleton grinned at Frisk’s question. Finally! Someone who was interested in his whereabouts! Not that Sans didn’t ask sometimes but when someone falls asleep whenever you tell them about your day… He could forgive a couple of times, but every time? That was too much. He thrusted forks into Frisk’s and his brother’s hands.

“Let me begin my tale of epic proportions as you partake in my delicious food!” He stood and posed heroically, tossing his cape behind him to create kind of a flowing effect.”Well! Um.” He paused, “Well nothing really exceptional has happened as of late.” He hadn’t realized how stagnant his days had become and shrugged. “BUT! I made special spaghetti today!” He beamed at Frisk.”And now you’re here!”

He licked a bit of spaghetti from his special pasta stirring bone and cringed. How could his brother drink that red drivel? He made disgusted gagging sounds at the taste. “AH THE WOES OF BROTHERLY LOVE!” He feigned weariness. “I make special spaghetti and I’m repaid with horrible puns!” He waved his stirring bone around as he talked absently, flicking sauce around and glancing back at Sans. “I hope you are liking it by the way, Sans. I expect you to eat all of your spaghetti! It’s the most important food group!”

He grinned back at Frisk. He still couldn’t believe that she was back! His friend! Such a joy to have around! The only one to appreciate his pasta! “You too Frisk! You know spaghetti is the perfect supplement for friendly bonding and maintaining that new muscular body of yours! NYEH HEH HEH!!” He hugged her tightly like at any moment she was going to disappear again.

“I really missed you, you know." His voice was a bit softer, he was trying really hard to convey his seriousness. "It’s no fun making puzzles and testing them on myself. No amount of pasta in the world can ever solve a simple electrocution puzzle the way you do.” He nodded to himself. He had tested that hypothesis and no matter how much you added to pasta, it just wasn’t sentient. “But enough about my daring and handsomely amazing adventures!” He released Frisk from his iron hug. “How have you been? I would assume, judging from your new and well toned physique that you were somewhere tropical, yes?” He grinned proudly. “Sans told me all about that tropical vacation place down here! I hope the king and you got along well!” Papyrus praised himself for his vast knowledge, and Sans’ amazing ability to find out interesting things. “So how was it?” He was on the edge of his seat, waiting for an answer.

Chara

Chara had been, as per usual, anchored to Frisk from the moment she had slain her first monster. The vast quantity of determination within the human, along with her sudden gaining of EXP and LOVE had drawn the dead soul out of whatever afterlife existed. But really, souls never died, so it wasn't like Chara would stay gone for long, was it?

Regardless, when Frisk had gone to defeat Omega Flowey and cross the barrier, Chara had been there, watching over the girl's shoulder. She had always been there, always watching. She cheered Frisk on, fighting their common enemy. But when she went to Spare Flowey... well, Chara didn't approve. After all, the one who had put the kill or be killed philosophy in the flower's head had been Chara, after all, back when she was still alive. You didn't think he thought that up himself, did you?

No. From the start, this had all been planned. Her death, Flowey's arrival, Chara's revival at the hands of Frisk. The only bump in the road was that Frisk hadn't gained nearly enough LOVE for Chara to fully manifest on her own. No, for that to have happened, she would have had to slay the entire underground. The worthless human she was forced to tag along with didn't have the guts for it. It disappointed her. At the time, she had accepted defeat, but when Frisk proved unable to cross the barrier... maybe there was still hope for the demented little spirit.

Once Frisk was trapped in the barrier, however, Chara had gone away for a while, returning to whatever afterlife she had resided in prior to Frisk awakening her. After Frisk had been freed, however that happened, Chara had gone back to Frisk, granted it took her a while to manifest her spirit to be visible to the human. She had watched, silently, as Frisk returned to the skeleton brother's house. Oh, how she dreaded the short one. It was almost like Sans could see her. She knew he couldn't see or hear her, and as far as she could tell, didn't know about her haunting Frisk, but she could be wrong. Sans was too smart for his own good, and Frisk was too transparent for Chara's liking.

But the ghost had to make due with what she had at her disposal. Right now, that was an intangible body that could only be seen and heard by Frisk.

"You're not seriously going to eat that, are you?" Chara asked in disdain, looking into the pot of spaghetti as Papyrus paraded it into the living room. She offered Frisk a look, disgust mixed into a glare. "Don't you have anything better to do?" Like making Chara tangible again? Couldn't Frisk tell how uncomfortable Sans was? Or was the ghost just reading into things? Either or, she floated up and back a bit, lounging on the air with her arms crossed, one leg hooked over the other.

Frisk

The human listened to the skeleton's conversation, just enjoying some...normalcy, for however normal two talking set of bones in an entire sub-world of monsters was. But to her...it was home. This. Just the simple feeling of sitting there, being able to partake in someone else's lives. She was so glad to be free from that cage, however she managed to get stuck there. It didn't matter now. She was back, for good hopefully. Frisk didn't notice, but she had been smiling blankly while in thought, during Papyrus' monologue. Hoping she didn't miss anything important, the taller skeleton thrust a fork in her, and Sans' hand. But then Papyrus took her in another tight hug. If she was still her...younger? self, the hug might have killed her. Even now, it forced the air from her lungs.

When he let go, the skeleton grew has serious has he could ever be. Frisk felt...important, with how he talked of her. She really made an impact after all! But she also made the skeleton sad with her disappearance. The emotions started mixing oddly, as Papyrus spoke. Listening to him, she grabbed a small bowl and poured some very red spaghetti into it. As she was pulling back to sit down, the tall skeleton mentioned Asgore. Sans...had told his brother that the King went on a tropical vacation. The human was right, the naive monster didn't know the truth.

Frisk completely froze in place. Memories of Asgore's battle...his despair...her anger...their reconciliation. Then his last moments, as Flowey tore apart his body. Her eyes grew wider as the darkness took a hold of her. It felt like her body was constricting. She felt both of the skeleton's eyes on her, she knew they were both expecting some sort of answer. It made the human panic even worse. Flashes of the King's heart shattering into pieces. Her breathing grew faster. Then Flowey taking the souls. Her hand started shaking. The laugh...the evil, demented smile of the giant beast.

Then another voice, this one female and...striking similar to Frisk's own voice, spoke up. The sound snapped the human out of her trance, but also made her drop her bowl. Which was fine, because her stomach was in knots right now. Blinking a few times to clear the pictures from her mind, her eyes set on...Chara. The unexpected person made Frisk visibly flinch, as if expecting to get smacked. But of course, that was ridiculous as...well, it's Chara. Then that really set in.

CHARA?!

The scary little ghost girl was lounging midair over the pot of noodles and ketchup, making snide remarks about it. Frisk had to do a double take, just to make sure she was there...but, she was. Even after fighting Flowey, the persistent killer was still haunting the human. The girl sighed. Why did I think she would go away? Shaking her head, Frisk didn't even bother with the other girl. Not right now at least, in front of...the skeleton brothers. Realizing she just had two very odd moments in front of them, the human desperately tried to recover.

"I-I...I'm sorry about that..." She was really trying her hardest, "...just, it's been s-so long since I've...seen Asgore, that I don't really remember." Yeah, even if she couldn't fool Sans, perhaps she could at least convince Papyrus that her little episode wasn't that big a deal. "I only seen him when I...f-first got to the island, where I went on vacation. He seemed g-good, and we got along fine." Okay, not fantastic but, enough. Now time to change the subject. "Sorry for spilling your pasta! It was just so...rich in flavor, my hands trembled and dropped it!" Frisk couldn't help but glance over at Sans, to see what his reaction to all this was. But deciding she didn't want to see him right now, the human instead fiddled with her hair in the awkwardness of the situation. The whole Asgore thing really got to her. That...will be hard to get over.

sans.

Sans was soon handed a spoon by his brother in order to taste this cool new kind of spaghetti- it surely couldn't be that bad with one of his favorite food things added in, right? He still couldn't really quite believe how cool Papyrus was to make something with him in mind- even though he would have probably eaten his brother's spaghetti anyways, no matter how inedible it was or what type it was either. Sometimes he just couldn't resist to do so for Paps, and see his brother's reaction to an encouragement about his cooking or two. He usually gave the other one pretty much positive reports about that sort of thing, even if sometimes he didn't manage to eat all of the cooking. His bro was so cool to keep trying new things and to improve too with stuffs, how could he not? That being said, the shorter skeleton probably wasn't the best for the other one's ego sometimes. But hey, that was what brothers were for, right? Heh. Well, encouragement and support in that sort of thing being one of the reasons anyway. He took the spoon, and the unceremoniously leaned forward and scooped some of the very red stuff out of the pot with it, and a few seconds later shoved it in his mouth. The ketchup kind of dripped a bit, and dribbled down his wide grin to make it look almost as if something was coming from his mouth. He didn't care too much, though, concentrating mainly on the taste.

Not that monsters really had taste buds, but... well, they kind of had some sense of it. The immediate thought that came to mind was the taste of the ketchup and spaghetti mix as he tasted it, and his pupils got a bit smaller. Wow... this was actually not so bad. The tang of the ketchup was the strongest taste, and he liked it that way. It was like drinking ketchup, but with... spaghetti mixed in to chew up too, now more pleasant with the taste of the pasta being swamped by the other red liquid. Now he was starting to become more confident about his brother's cooking skills, the other one sure knew how to make a combined meal right. With a wide grin he soon dipped his spoon in the pot again, and shoved some of the spaghetti in his mouth once more, kind of making a mess of red droplets, but eh, surely someone would be able to clean that up later. He didn't much bother to wipe the red residue from his mouth, even though if he had seen himself at the moment, he might have been a bit disturbed by it. While Sans was having that small reaction to his brother's spaghetti, he had noticed the other one standing in a dramatic position to tell Frisk about his days, though the conclusion probably wasn't as exciting as the other skeleton had hoped. His brother was so cool. He didn't tune into the conversation again until a few moments later when Papyrus made a gagging sound at his own spaghetti, complaining about the 'woes of brotherly love' or something like that. When the other one mentioned being repaid with horrible puns for making special spaghetti.

The shorter one couldn't help but grin a bit wider at this as he started to say a sort of weak protest to this fact. "aw, come on bro." Sans then winked at Papyrus in a playful way as always, his grin becoming just a bit more impish. "you're always smiling at 'em." He did wonder if the other's statement was pretty accurate, though it didn't matter too much to him. He always did his best to support his brother by offering a little encouragement, support and protection when he could, even though usually he didn't need to so much, or at least did so subtly in his own way. The telling puns and jokes thing was mostly for his own amusement, and an effective way to tease his brother a lot. Usually the other one's reactions were more hilarious then this, though there always a limit to have with such joking around. The shorter skeleton then had to resist letting out a chuckle upon hearing what his brother said next, about eating all his spaghetti. It was precious of his bro, to say that about how it was important to eat the food, though he wasn't exactly sure why it had been so funny to him all of a sudden. Maybe ironically? Eh, not like he cared too much though. He nodded with a wide enough grin at the other one. "don't worry bro, 's really cool as usual. i sure like it." After he gave the other one a genuine compliment about the spaghetti, the skeleton's small white pupils glanced off to side for a moment, his grin giving away that he had something in mind.

"i'll be sure to eat a ton of it." Sans was already winking once again, feel quite some satisfaction with how he was on somewhat of a roll today. It was nice too, since the kid was here to hear them too and all. Maybe he could get a bit more then a blank expression on her face about the jokes this time? "a skele-ton." He lifted his arms for a moment as a careless shrug in acknowledgment of how good he was before lowering them to his sides again upon making the joke. Ah, an oldie but a goodie, as he would say, or rather... think. After this he kind of just let Papyrus and the kid hit it off again conversation wise as Paps remained the one speaking the most in the conversation. Sans was a bit curious about this, and aimed a sideways glance at the kiddo, only to see her smiling blankly with a distant expression on her face. Heh, weird. But then again, he couldn't really judge the kid for zoning out, he did that a lot too. What soon caught his notice, though, as he leaned back on the couch still snatching up spoonfuls of the special spaghetti, was when his brother asked if the kid had been somewhere... tropical. He almost choked on the spoonful of spaghetti he had shoved in his mouth, but fortunately managed to restrain that sort of reaction by only letting out a bit of a grunt and swallowing down the rest of the stuff uncomfortably. Oh... that. Sans had told Papyrus that the king had gone on... vacation, and Queen Tori had taken his place. He hadn't said anything about it being a temporary replacement, though. He just didn't want to do something to Paps like to tell him that their beloved king was, well... dead because of the human. Fortunately the other one had believed him about the vacation story it seemed, but he must have thought that the kid did too. The shorter skeleton had wanted to leave it at the vacation thing in order to avoid ever bringing that up again in this timeline. but it seemed that wouldn't be happening any time soon. And asking the kid about the king being on vacation and such... well, just seemed like a very bad idea to him. He knew what the kid was capable of, and had done too, so he didn't know how she'd react to this. Heh.

Well, one thing for sure, there was not getting out of her finding out now about him telling Papyrus about all these vacation stuffs. Literally, since his brother had just said so. Sometimes he just really had a knack for getting himself or others into a fix, didn't he... heh, well, that was pretty obvious. But as he looked over to gauge the kid's reaction, sure enough they looked ,like they had heard about a ghost. Well... they just had, funnily enough. His eyes narrowed a bit for a slight second. Maybe that was the guilt of a killer that did things because they thought it was necessary or in self defense. Wouldn't be such a stretch, considering the kid's LV. It wasn't like he knew all that much, like he had told her in the Judgment Hall, he hadn't been watching when she reached LV 4. Then again, maybe it was just the reaction of a kid who had seen too much. He couldn't exactly tell, but he couldn't exactly pinpoint the kid's reaction genuinely either, though one thing was for sure, he was a bit worried about what Papyrus might think about it. Sans just leaned a bit more onto the back of the couch, glancing sideways with small white pupils with his same wide grin. "you okay, kid?" But a few moments after he asked this casual and seemingly unconcerned question to the kiddo, suddenly she dropped her bowl of spaghetti. By now Sans had set down his spoon at his side on the couch as he looked at the kid with a bit more curiosity, though still his gaze betrayed nothing. Okay, something was definitely up. He couldn't tell what yet, but the kid certainly had something traumatizing or disturbing to hide when it came to the King. Heh. Maybe it was just a guilty conscience.

He couldn't help but wonder if it was something more... sinister, at work. After all, it was strange that the kid had come back, instead of just resetting. What if...the anomaly was curious about seeing what happened when they didn't stop everything and instead continue some sort of torture of whatever they did to the timeline next? That might make a bit of sense, except the kid seemed okay so far with seemingly not so much interest in killing things, though that was a bit debatable. Geez, could this kiddo get much more confusing and strange? He wasn't really sure, at this point. The short skeleton waited for the kiddo to calm down, and eventually she seemed to regain her composure enough to speak again and all. When she apologized, he simply shrugged, doubting that Papyrus would take this incident too hard either... hopefully. "don't sweat it, kid." Sans spoke this to her easily with a wide reassuring grin, even though he was definitely more alerted to be a bit more observant after this instance, there was no reason to put the kid at unease if he could help it. He listened a bit more tensely to her response about the whole 'vacation' thing, and it was kind of a relief when the kid played along with the story. He didn't want to respond or pay much attention to it, since it felt kind of wrong to hear Frisk lying about this sort of thing anyways after what they had done, even though he was the cause of her having to do this in the first place.

He tilted his head a bit, once again picking up his spoon and restlessly fiddling with it in his gloved hand for a moment before leaning forward to take another bite of spaghetti. After he did, he peered back at the kid with his small white pupils. "heh, good to hear." When she apologized for dropping the bowl of pasta, Sans grinned a little wider as once again something came to mind, and he winked at the two while flashing this big grin as usual. "seems like we found the sauce of the problem for sure, ey papyrus?" The skeleton felt the urge to snicker, though he didn't and instead just leaned back on the green sofa with the spoon in hand. He really was too funny sometimes, but then again, it always amused him to 'knock out' others with his hilarious jokes... and also to defuse the rather tense situation a bit too, even if it inwardly caused him a bit of suspicion about the kid.

Chara

The ghost clicked her tongue in a chiding way. "What, not going to greet an old friend properly? Or are you afraid of what your 'friends' might think of you?" she chuckled slightly, using air quotes. "Oh, naive little Frisk, you still don't realize they're not really your friends, do you?" The ghost rotated forwards, resting as if she were lying on her front, head propped in her hands, elbows resting on the same surface her stomach was. Her feet kicked in the air, heels turned to the ceiling. Her head rotated slightly, leaning towards Papyrus, who stood beside where she floated. "Papyrus only pities you, you know. And Sans," her expression turned from a sadistic smile to one of loathing. "Sans still despises you for killing Asgore. But you didn't hear that from me, okay?"

Snickering, Chara floated up and around Frisk's head, curling her body much like a cat's around the girl as she ran her fingers through the other's hair. The strands themselves didn't move, but Frisk should be able to feel the ghost's fingers nonetheless. "Don't you see now? It's so painfully obvious. I'm the only one on your side, here. I'm the only one truly rooting for you. Who stood by you when you went up against Flowey? Me. Only I was there when you fought every single one of your friends, remember?"

Really, Chara was just doing all this to aggravate Frisk. She so desperately wanted a response, to validate she still existed. One look and a dropped bowl of spaghetti wasn't going to cut it. At Sans' looks towards Frisk, she glared back at him. He was the last person she wanted to catch on to her little ploy. That self-aware sack of bones was by far the most dangerous monster in the underground. She knew: she had seen other time lines, ones where she had manifested. Sans was always the last, hardest hurdle to jump.

Being only a ghost gave Chara a unique perspective, not quite tied to a time line, and not quite in all of them, either. That was, prior to the battle with Flowey. But now, post-battle, she was stuck solidly to this time line and could not see elsewhere. That didn't mean the ghost lost all the information she had gained observing other time lines, though. No, Chara was wary of Sans now. He'd have to be taken out quickly and discreetly, preferably without giving him time to dodge. Unfortunately, that would be practically impossible for Chara to get Frisk to do at the moment.

For now, Chara would have to bide her time and wait, slowly building up Frisk's LV.

Nova

Oof.

The fall had knocked the wind out of the newcomer. Luckily, they had landed in a bed of flowers. Had they landed on hard stone, or even sharp, pointy stone... well, Nova preferred not to think of it. Planting their palms on the ground, Nova pushed themselves into a sitting position, knees bent and legs folded underneath them. A quick pat-down revealed nothing broken, much to the fifteen-year-old's surprise. They opened their dark purple eyes, looking about the area. It was a cave-like place, with a single beam of light shining down onto a patch of golden flowers. Pollen drifted in the air, creating a shimmering effect around them.

Taking a deep breath to refill their lungs, Nova pushed themselves to their feet. Adjusting their hair and hat, then sweater, and finally checking their boot laces, Nova decided to take a look around. Scanning the smooth walls revealed no hand holds, and attempting to climb was a bust. There was no way back up this way. However, running a hand over the wall revealed a crevice, big enough for Nova to pass through. It was a path of sorts, they realized, and followed the path until it widened out and formed an archway. Past the archway was a wide cavern with one singular patch of grass in the middle, framed by light from above, granted the walls were not visible in the scant light the hole provided..

Continuing on past another archway, Nova discovered a ruins of sort. Red and crinkly leaves lined the stairs, and they took a minute to appreciate the smell of fallen leaves, moist with cave dew. Up the stairs, through the door, Nova discovered that most of the puzzles here had, pretty much, been solved. Making their way through the ruins, Nova was eventually confronted with Froggit and Whimsun. Virtually unarmed and unsure what to do, Nova fled before the fight could even properly start. And so it went on like this, Nova making their way around the ruins, fleeing from foes, until eventually finding what looked like a rather nice home, given it was located in the Ruins. Taking a minute to lay beneath the tree out front and rest in the leaves, Nova eventually worked up the courage to enter the house.

Strangely, it looked like it had been rapidly deserted. Unconcerned with the basement just yet, Nova decided to satisfy her now gnawing hunger. Wandering through the living room and into the kitchen, they raided the fridge for anything sweet. There was an old pie there, but no knives around to cut a piece off of. Besides, the pie looked... rather old. If Nova had to guess, they'd say perhaps two weeks, or more. The crust was stale, the filling had gone hard, and to top it off there was some mold growing around the edges. Yuck. Nova wasn't that desperate for food. They settled on a bottle of water and a box of crackers found in the cabinets. While it wasn't a fresh-baked pie, it would have to do. Quickly downing their makeshift meal, Nova decided to explore this place a bit more thoroughly. While they didn't really have the courage still to go to the darkened basement, it didn't take Nova long to discover the bedrooms. Using the mirror at the end of the hall, they adjusted their hair and beanie once again.

To be honest, the house was pretty small once Nova figured out where things were. And going by what was available in the cabinets and fridge, Nova wouldn't last long here without finding some other source of food. Not really an expert on farming, and not keen on hunting, that left them with one option: the basement. Taking a handful of crackers and another bottle of water in their pockets, Nova made their way downstairs. Below the house was a long, dimly lit corridor, similar in style to the rest of the Ruins. Following the corridor, Nova was faced with a pair of doors, a strange symbol carved into them. They only spent a moment admiring the architecture of the door, before pushing it open and following a path up towards another archway. Man, how many archways did whoever built these ruins really need?

It wasn't long before Nova was stepping out into the snowy forest that made up Snowdin's landscape.

PAPYRUS

The skeleton waited and gauged frisk’s reaction to his question. ‘She took it well!’ The skeleton was so proud of his skills in subtlety. The spaghetti had been a perfect ice breaker! ‘As always.’ He thought smugly to himself as Sans and Frisk made themselves bowls of the stuff. He sat ever so patiently waiting for an answer from Frisk. It sure was taking her a long time to answer his question. Was she sworn to secrecy by the king?! How would he ever find out what “tropical” places where like?

Or maybe she was having a hard time remembering because of all the fun and exercise she had? Yeah that was it, for sure. No way Frisk, his special human, would ever have had a bad time with King Fluffybuns! Suddenly the human broke from her silent, king pondering session to answer him.

It had been a while huh? He hummed and rested his hand on his chin while nodding. It made sense, his training regimen was pretty involved, the human and the king probably barely saw each other. He smiled at Frisk and refilled the pasta in her bowl.

“Don’t worry about the pasta! The first bite is always the most potent! You’re lucky it didn’t punch you three feet int o the air! NYEH HEH HEH HEH!” His pasta was a delicious as ever, even his brother was seemingly caught in a trance. That made him a little happy.

“And thank you for answering my pressing question!” He handed the bowl to her. “I was a little worried about the king, he’s a big softie you know? I’m happy he’s taking a long vacation and that you got to meet him!” All of his friends were making friends with each other! It was enough to bring tears to his eyes, but he didn’t let that happen. The spaghetti was disgusting as it was, it didn’t need any extra salty tears of friendship added anywhere.

He looked back towards his pun producing brother and smiled a little warmly, seeing that he liked his special pasta. Hopefully this would put some energy in those bones and his brother might even go outside for once. Maybe even touch a puzzle! Maybe even--! Oh no. Papyrus knew that grin. 'THE GRIN OF IMPENDING PUNS.' Oh no! It was spaghetti related! The skeleton couldn’t stop his little giggles from spilling out. How unprofessional of him.

“GAH!!” He kneeled, giggling in defeat. “Curse you and you spaghetti puns! They’re my only weakness!” He couldn’t believe how funny that pun was! It was an unfair advantage! More importantly, he was telling yet another pun after he specifically told him to eat more healthy spaghetti! “You have to eat spaghetti Sans! Not waste energy telling puns!” He huffed and shook his head. Oh well, at least his brother seemed happier than before. Papyrus tried to think of something else to lift the spirits of his brother and his human friend. ‘Junior Jumble!’ The skeleton thought excitedly. He read to his room and eventually came back with his big book of word searches.

“NYEH HEH HEH! Remember these, Frisk? Now we can solve difficult puzzles AND enjoy pasta together!” How could one skeleton be packed with so many good ideas? "Then maybe later we could get some Nice Cream and work on some puzzles?" He looked hopefully between his brother and Frisk.

The human had been a little desperate with her explanation of what happened between her, and the King. But thankfully Papyrus bought every word. Sometimes his trust is a little concerning. Sans shot off another pun, while the taller skeleton fixed her up another bowl of the ketchup noodles. Giving it her best smile, Frisk took it happily, while regretting to ever show interest in it. Hoping it wasn't too bad, she glanced over at Sans as he made another pun about the 'sauce/source' of the problem. He had dripped ketchup all over his face, combined with his grin, made him look absurdly silly. Frisk laughed a bit, but stopped when Chara spoke up again at her once more.

What she was saying made Frisk look down at her bowl. When the ghost floated right in front of her, the human couldn't help but look at her. She was saying how Papyrus pitted her, and Sans despised her. All lies! She's said the same thing before...but maybe, she does have some credence about Sans now? After all, he had been pretty reclusive, even for the Judge he was. Did he hate her? Snickering, the ghost girl curled around Frisk. The feeling was...bizarre. Cold, but warm. Touching her, but at the same time not. Chara never really did anything like this before Flowey, so it was pretty new to the human. She didn't know how to react.

Chara ran her finger through Frisk's hair, and it really felt like the ghost was really doing it. But certainly she wasn't? Was it all in the human's head?...no, the ghost was really there. Just like all the times before. Papyrus came back, and the girl realized she was looking through Chara's body. The image of the skeleton was a little blurry, as the faint body of the killer wasn't completely transparent. She also talked over the skeleton, getting Frisk annoyed. Couldn't she just...float somewhere else for now? The human couldn't exactly have an open conversation with the killed right now.

Wait...maybe I can just phase through her?

Deciding to give it a try, the human sat up. She was able to, but going through the ghost's body was...unpleasant. Because Chara was solid, yet not. So it was like walking through a really thick soup almost. Finally able to see 100%, Frisk realized Papyrus was holding a whole stack of Junior Jumble books, and was beaming. Before saying anything to him, the human quickly turned around to sneer at Chara as if to say, 'Stop it!'. Then looking back at the tall skeleton, she smiled warmly.

"That sounds like a great idea! Maybe we can..." Frisk trailed off, as a weird feeling swept through her body. For a millisecond, her red heart that represented her Soul flashed. Her body faded into a ghost-like form, much like Chara, and only her Soul was fully colored. Just like when she entered a battle...or if she was interacting with a 'SAVE Point'. Something felt...wrong, now. Like a force, a faraway force, battled with her own. But still, it flashed by so fast Frisk had to contemplate if it really happened. Only the feeling persisted, which then also faded away after a few seconds. Something happened, but what? Her eyes locked onto Papyrus, and she tried talking as if nothing happened, "Huh, we c-can maybe even catch one of Mettaton's performances?"

So many things were happening to Frisk, just within these past few minutes. She experienced a horrible remembrance of her fight with Asgore, and Flowey. Chara came back. And just now she had a feeling she never felt before. It was like the universe was trying to pack everything she missed in the past two weeks, into one day. But still, the thought of Mettaton did help her fade out those things. She did want to see that robot soon!

(My apologies for slow reply, for some reason I've been out of it today, and my brain is like mush. xD Also, I hope that coloring the words gold when writing puns is okay. I noticed that happen in the game once or twice. )

sans.

Sans still found it hard to swallow when Papyrus said something in reply about the kid and Asgore making friends and all. The statement was so ironic, and pretty far from the truth too, he couldn't help but feel a bit uncomfortable about it. But he kept up his relaxed façade as always, having not much problem in doing so. It was his fault, after all, for telling his brother that. At least the other one could keep his innocence just a bit longer, and with him around hopefully the other one could afford to keep up his positivity and naiveté about the situation, instead of knowing the more... serious types of things. Honestly he wasn't sure though, when it came to the kid. During his nightmares, he had images of the kid with that dust-covered knife and... dust scattered everywhere on them, really. The degusting little thing. He had felt the red scarf wrapped firmly around his neck, and the feeling of pain and panic it had caused in him as he woke up in his bed sweating.

While he had slowly become numb to the pain as he started to get a sense of what was going on with the timelines, that didn't mean he was about to let his guard down when it came to this kid and Papyrus. It was kind of wrong when it came to this kid, who was actually pretty sweet, but... their actions suggested that it would still be best to be careful about them. Especially the most recent ones. Anyways, it didn't matter all too much. Either way, it would be reset eventually, no matter how nice this kid was. He doubted they could ever really be happy or contented enough to not reset anyways. Plus, something was a bit off about them now... though he couldn't deny he felt some sort of kind of warm emotion towards 'em. probably for what they had done for his brother... and maybe just because they were a pretty nice kid overall. It was wrong, to kind of feel this way, and kind of just feel both ways neutral about how he felt about the kid. He just didn't quite know what to think of them at this point.

Fortunately Sans' attention was soon diverted from thinking about trash thoughts like that when it came to the kid and the existence of the timelines in general. When he made the pun that was spaghetti related to his brother, he was very pleased to hear the other one letting out some giggles at his joke. Ah, sweet. He knew that his brother couldn't resist some of his amazing puns and jokes, which was completely understandable of course. He grinned even wider at this reaction his brother gave, clearly enjoying it. After all, it wasn't every day Papyrus laughed at any of his puns and jokes, instead of acting annoyed by them. His bro was so cool. and hilarious too. He even got a few chuckles out of the kid too before she fell silent. Now that was what he'd call success right there, especially when Papyrus kneeled down dramatically in supposed defeat of succumbing to his hilarious jokes.

Sans relished the other one's giggles of defeat, and sank a bit further onto the back of the couch, and couldn't help but chuckle a bit at this reaction. Well no doubt about it, this moment was enough to make his day alone. He looked down at Paps not with a smirk, but instead a usual casual grin, though it was a bit offset by the ketchup dripping at the corners of his mouth. "wow bro, looks like i defeated you at last... but don't worry." Sans' pupils looked off to the side again as he got that same impish grin that implied he was about to make a pun once more. "it's undersansable." He then winked normally at the other one, barely able to resist snickering, so he just let out a bit of a snort before saying his next statement. "no one can get pasta my jokes for long."

The short skeleton lifted his arms in the air in a sort of shrug like the previous time, figuring that his jokes were so good, these deserved at least a flourish of some kind. He almost let out another chuckle, though, when he was scolded for wasting energy telling jokes instead of eating his spaghetti. Sans once again let out a bit of a snort, keeping his hands in the air as an incredulous shrug as he stared at his brother. "aw come on bro, it doesn't take much work to tell jokes." He got that grin again once more plastered to his face that implied an incoming pun once again. He really was on fire with these, wasn't he? He winked again at Papyrus, his bones in his ribcage trembling a bit at this point from the silent chuckles he was having at this. "if you put some backbone into it." Nevertheless though, after once again telling a hilarious joke, he grabbed the spoon that had been on his side, and once again leaned forward and swiped a spoonful of the ketchup spaghetti, once again shoving it in his mouth, and then another.

He like the taste of it, and since this wasn't so bad, it was kind of cool to eat it. He also was doing this to please Papyrus too though, since surely the other one would be glad to see him eating his cooking, and it was always so cool to see his brother happy about such things. His brother really deserved encouragement this time, this was actually good spaghetti... the ketchup made it much more tolerable, and combined with the spaghetti he still felt that feeling that caused him to be distracted from certain thoughts pretty easily, and since the tang of the flavor was so sharp, he wanted more of it. When Papyrus got up though, and went to his room upstairs, Sans was a bit curious and puzzled, but nevertheless didn't care too much as he leaned back again and occasionally took bites of the ketchup covered spaghetti while waiting for the other one to return.

Meanwhile he glanced at the kid. He wondered if she would laugh any more at his jokes. Before she had seemed to, before falling silent, like she kind of was now. He couldn't exactly tell what was up, but she seemed to be distracted with something. Huh, weird. The short skeleton's pupils almost vanished a moment as he stared at the kid, trying to figure out what was her deal with that, but he simply glanced away and blinked with a wide and lazy grin as his white pupils remained visible. By now his instincts of danger were kind of activated a bit, though he did nothing to indicate this further. He'd just have to keep going along with the flow, as usual. Nothing he could really do now anyways, instead of pal around with the kid as usual and try to figure out what they would be like this tine now that they had returned. He was a bit glad when his brother returned, since it didn't take too long for the other one to do so.

Sans watched as Paps came back with some Junior Jumble books. Ah, this again? He knew that the kid had agreed once that these were harder than crosswords just to appease his brother, but.. it wouldn't take much effort to complete them, that was for sure. He just leaned back against the green leather again, peering at the two with a teasing grin. Honestly, he just always claimed that crosswords were harder just to mainly tease his brother, since it was kind of funny to do so. Even though it was true, and he couldn't help but get amused when Papyrus could stumped trying to solve the puzzles that were quite easy indeed, or the 'horoscope'. He found his brother's antics like this hilarious, and even more so to tease. His bro was the best.

Sans noticed how the kid turned for a moment before speaking to Papyrus, but didn't know why. Anyway, it didn't matter, right? He was getting tired of trying to interpret this kid's strange actions, he was getting tired of trying to interpret any of it. It wouldn't matter in the long run, right? Why should he care? Why did he care? Honestly, the short skeleton didn't know anymore. Maybe he had grown a bit too fond of the kid to see her reveal herself as the thing from his nightmares. Maybe he got a bit too fond of the others to see them have to experience it. Maybe... it was his brother. Whatever the reason, Sans just remained unresponsive for a time as he scooped out another spoonful of his brother's spaghetti. After stuffing it in his mouth he lost interest in that and let his eyelids close a bit over his black eye sockets as he leaned back.

He peered at the two for a moment through half lidded eyes. "have fun with the word search, babybones." He offered as a weak support with a bit of a chuckle afterwards. He said this teasingly, and not in a way to seem malicious, he sometimes made these sorts of soft jabs at Papyrus, though it was never often. Sans never had the heart to do it that often, though. The short skeleton remained in his relaxed state until the kid spoke up again, and he glanced her way a bit when she did. At first it seemed just like a normal agreement at all, until she paused. He cocked open one eyelid when Frisk trailed off.

Suddenly, as he did, he saw a flash of some sort of sight while staring at the kid. For less then a second a flash of red, a small red soul appeared before his eyes, that being the only thing he glimpsed before the kid was back to normal again. It was the red soul... the one he saw far too often in his dreams. His pupils became a bit smaller, as he let out a bit of a breath when he saw that. For a moment, his pupils vanished as he saw this, the indication of battle, the thing that immediately caused his danger instincts to awaken. Sans couldn't much control it, it was an instinctive gesture, though as soon as that small flash of the red soul ended, he just turned his head and let out a small grunt as he yawned wide, his pupils having been gone for only about a second or so.

After yawning, he then heard the kid continuing to speak to Papyrus like nothing had ever happened. What was this kid's deal? What did they want? He didn't know, but he was getting a bit eager to find out, and he didn't get eager about too many things. Sans didn't really tune in much to the kid's suggestions on what she and Papyrus could do, though he felt some need to establish a casual mood again, for his sake if not anyone else's. "sounds cool, kid." The skeleton spoke with a usual grin and not any further expression. Soon his eye sockets began to appear half lidded again as he relaxed, seemingly not so concerned about any of the happenings around him, though strangely enough that wasn't entirely true anymore.

Flowey

The golden flower emerged by the exit of the ruins and gawked as the purple human walked deeper into the Snowdin Forest. He was stunned.

What just happened?

Soon after discovering that Frisk was alive and that the human SOULS were still out there, Flowey had endeavored to make his first move. To begin with, he was going to meet with Frisk and apologize for his behaviour. He wouldn't mean it, of course, but gaining her trust back was the first step of the plan. He had a feeling she would forgive him for what he had done; after all, she did spare his life before. Reemerging on the outskirts on Snowdin Village he surveyed the small town and caught a glimpse of her walk into a wooden, two storey house. It took him all of two seconds to remember whose it belonged to.

Isn't that great? Of all the houses, it just HAD to be smiley and skele-dork's.

Well. There goes my plan, he thought. He couldn't very well go up to the front door and knock. Far too risky. He could have taken the chance and hope it was just Papyrus home - him he could handle. Honestly, it wouldn't surprise him if Papyrus even knew what he had done. But it was the other skeleton that worried him. Smiley trashbag. If he was home... Flowey shuddered. He was 100% sure that Sans knew what he had done and was extremely doubtful that he would expect mercy from him.

So he returned underground and resurfaced in the Ruins to rethink his strategy. He looked up at the single ray of light illuminating the sole patch of grass he was on. Whenever he returned to the Ruins, he often came to this room. He didn't know why; perhaps because the silence made it a great location to think in. This was where he had first encountered Frisk. How close he was to killing her before he was so rudely interrupted. A wave of anger rushed over Flowey but he quickly shook his head and focused on the task at hand. He had to find a way to approach Frisk safely.

His best hope was to catch her by herself and talk to her then, but he wasn't sure how long that would take. For all he knew, it might even take several days. And he had no intention of delaying his revenge any more than he had to. He wracked his brain and attempted to think of other solutions. Perhaps he could write a note and leave it somewhere in such a way that only Frisk would find it. But, much to his annoyance, Flowey realized that plan wouldn't work because he didn't have arms.

Anger filled the small flower as he tried and failed to think of other plans. He opened his mouth to scream in frustration but stopped when he overheard something - the sound of something falling some distance away from him. And soon after, the sound of approaching footsteps. He ducked back underground, moved to the dark corner of the room and peeked out. Normally, this isn't something he would do. But, for some reason, he felt the need to hide himself from whatever was approaching.

And he was glad that he did so because what he saw made him freeze in place. He watched as a figure enter the room and step into the light. For the brief moment that they stood there before leaving, Flowey could only stare. He couldn't believe it - could it have been a trick of the eye? Was he going crazy and hallucinating? He had to make sure.

He trailed the figure throughout the ruins and observed them quietly, stopping as they entered Toriel's house and subsequently left the ruins. At this point, it was clear. There was definitely, undoubtedly, most assuredly no other explanation. It was a human. Flowey was stunned. It was as if his world had twisted upside-down. He couldn't believe his luck! Another human falling into the underground so soon after the last one? The chances were astronomical! His mind raced to think of what his next step should be and how he would carry it out. And as he stared at the human as she entered deeper the forest, a malevolent grin spread across his face.

He just found the solution to his earlier problem.

Disappearing underground, he re-emerged at the first fork in the snowy forest path and waited patiently as the newly arrived human approached him. He put on a large, friendly smile and beamed at them cheerfully.

"
Howdy! I'm Flowey. Flowey the Flower!"

Nova

Nova had paused to observe the wooden bars over the bridge. What were these, exactly? An entrance? Some crude attempt at the stoic and majestic archways in the Ruins? It couldn't possibly be a fence of some sort: the bars were spread too far apart. It was as if the builder was being courteous enough to leave a path for people to walk through. But that raised the question: why would someone build a fence, and then leave a clear path through it? Their logic was flawed, who ever built this. Passing through the fence and by a small outpost, Nova closed their eyes and listened to the crunching of snow under their boots.

"Howdy! I'm Flowey. Flowey the Flower!"

Were it not for those words, Nova would have heard not just the crunching of snow, but the crunching of a small golden Flower. The voice made them jump, and Nova looked down, surprised to see a flower talking up at them. It didn't seem natural in the slightest. If talking vegetables that insisted vegetables couldn't talk, and floating fairy things were normal by now, honestly Nova didn't know why they were freaking out over a flower, something they could so simply crush underfoot.

That thought in mind, Nova crouched down to be Flowey's height. "Hey, there, Flowey! I seem to be a bit lost. Can you help me find my way back to the surface?" Nova asked. They silently berated themselves for talking to a flower, but desperate times called for desperate measures. Nova actually had half a mind to sit down in the snow. They loved the cold, and snow was their favorite. But no, they were taught that not making eye contact with the person you were speaking to was rude, and thus had to keep looking at Flowey, despite how much Nova wanted to flop onto their back and make snow angels.

Chara

Chara nodded, floating away and crossing her arms once again. She was pleased with that reaction, granted when Frisk moved through her incorporeal body, it sent a chilling and tingling sensation through her semi-transparent self. Yes, be troubled, Frisk. Be troubled and untrusting, just the way I need you to be. The ghost chuckled to herself, no more than slight huffing sounds, a hand barely covering her sadistic grin that returned to her face.

Said grin faltered when Frisk's soul flashed for all to see. What... was that? For once, the ghost was at a loss. There was nothing she had overseen in the timelines that talked about entering a battle when there was no one to fight. Now being locked onto this timeline, Chara couldn't look ahead to determine what the outcome of this oddity was. For the deceased child, it was beyond unsettling.

For the first time in a very long time, Chara felt fearful. Whatever was going on in the underground to have caused that was not a good sign. Judging by Frisk's reaction, she hadn't triggered that anomaly. Her eyes narrowed. Flowey had to be behind this somehow. There were only two people she knew with determination in the underground, and that was Frisk and Flowey. By process of elimination, that left the flower behind all this. When she saw him again, Chara swore she'd cut him down to size, literally.

"Frisk, we need to go,"
Chara stated simply. "I knew you shouldn't have let that weed run loose. I told you, you should have killed him when you had the chance." Chara's eyes turned to the shorter skeleton. So far, he seemed suspicious, but was playing it off cool. Suspicious of Chara, or of Frisk, though, was her question. Was Sans even aware of her existence in this timeline? They would have to wait and see. "He shouldn't have done that..." the ghost mumbled to herself, floating towards the wall.

PAPYRUS

The skeleton beamed when Frisk had agreed to hang out with him. And his brother seemed to finally be in the mood for puzzles, too! Papyrus wasn’t sure he’d ever have a day better than this! Maybe there was something to that horrible ketchup Sans was always drinking? It seemed to put everyone in a better mood. Papyrus made a mental note to make ketchup spaghetti whenever his friends felt a little down.

The skeleton choose to not let any of Sans’ other puns getting to him. He giggled again. ‘Curse his amazing pasta puns!’ Papyrus thought angrily. Ah well. Everyone was in a good mood, and his brother was acting happier than he’d ever seen before. That was cause for a little grace with the puns at least, so he let them slide.

“Thank you both for agreeing to hang out today!” He turned his attention back to Frisk, who seemed to be acting strangely as well. But he attributed that to her being gone for so long. “I promise it will be the most fun you’ll ever have! I’ll even bring more of this spaghetti you two like so much! NYEH HEH HEH HEH!” He relaxed and pulled the human closer to his side. This was going to be so fun! He glanced over at his brother. How was he falling asleep already? He looked like an infant with that food all over this face. Charming.

Ah well, all of that didn’t even matter! His brother has been awake for the longest he’d ever seen in the past two weeks and he’s happier thanks to this cooking. Although he wasn’t ever probably going to be come a part of the Royal Guard, he loved adhering to those morals. He helped his friends whenever he could and would protect them with his handsome life. And he felt that he was fulfilling both roles to a tee! He looked to the human again. Looked like she wanted to say something. Oh! Another bonding activity suggestion!

His though process ground to a halt. Wait a minute. ’DID THE HUMAN JUST SAY WE COULD SEE METTATON? IN PERSON??’

No one had been able to get close to the robot ever since the king went on vacation! Were Frisk and Mettaton friends? If he had eyes there would be sparkles in them, and if he had a stomach there would be butterflies having a frenzy inside of it! Meet Mettaton!? Him?! Mettaton was only his favorite puzzle making robot! He could remember that final battle where he saw Frisk fighting against Metta’s new form on TV. ‘That “Final Episode” thing.’ He remembered it well, he was so distraught that Mettaton was ending his show! He had even called in among the dozens of other monsters who did so during that final episode.

The human’s statement alone sent the poor skeleton into a tizzy. “You really think we could actually MEET Mettaton?” He had long since paused his Junior Jumble solving and looked towards Frisk. All the hope in the world couldn’t amount to what the smitten skeleton’s face held! What the human was offering was too good to be true!

Frisk

At first, it seemed no one noticed the flash of Frisk entering a battle. But the human took a quick look over at the ghost, and she clearly seen it. The ghost mentioned how letting Flowey go was a mistake. Honestly, even without Chara's influence Frisk doubted her decision to let the flower live. After what he did...to Asgore, to her, to the Souls. She wanted to kill him. The human wanted to summon up all her power, and smite the beast once and for all...but her anger was so strong, so focused, that it made the girl stop. It made her feel wrong. So she went as neutral as possible, ignored everything Flowey and Chara said, and just let him runaway. But if he was still alive out there, who knew what he was doing? Frisk doubted the flower would simply learn from the experience. No, he was probably trying out some new plan.

And who could stop him, other the Frisk? The scared expression coming from the ghost was enough reassurance for the human. She needed to find Flowey soon, because something he was doing, or something related to him was really bad. But she already get Papyrus happy though...maybe a compromise? Yeah, she could promise to do something later today with the robot and skeleton, and take sometime now to look for Flowey. But...was it really necessary to rush out for something that was no more then a possibility?

Frisk took one last look at the ghost. She had never seen Chara look that way before, so...it was worth it. Turning back to Papyrus, the human took a breath. "Well yeah, I mean him and I are kinda close. We hung out a few times before I left for my...vacation. I'm sure if we went to MTT Resort I could find him somehow. But hey..." Hopefully this won't effect the skeleton too much, "...not right now though. Something came up, uh...rather, I remembered something I had t-to do. So later today...okay? Sorry though, gotta go." All the while Frisk was talking, she was scooting closer to the door. With the last few words, she ducked out of the house without waiting for the skeleton's response.

Once outside, she shut the door quickly. Trying to make a little distance, the human walked a brisk pace towards the Ruins. She had a feeling...whatever it was, had to do with it. Hoping Chara was following her like usual, Frisk spoke up, "So...hey. Sorry about ignoring you and all." The human still had misgivings with the ghost, considering she was always trying to gain control or something along those lines. But overtime Frisk had grown almost...civil, even a little friendly with the killer. Sure, she was a psychopath. But the girl couldn't deny that Chara had saved her a few times, and offered good advice from time to time. "Do you know what happened?"

Alphys

Alphys was wandering deep into Snowdin. She hadn't seen Undyne for a while. She was lost, due to not bringing any supplies to pinpoint her location or destination. She was cold too,

"Ugh! Why do I never get an app for locations! At least I could of grabbed my map!" She grunted under her breath as she walked endlessly. She was wearing her usual labcoat, so It didn't help the cold much.

"Wait a second, is that....!" Without thinking she ran toward what she saw; smoke. She followed it and found herself behind a wood house with snowed over roof panels.

"Hello?" she asked as she knocked on the wooden door.

Chara

Chara was surprised, to say the least. She watched as Frisk excused herself and arranged a rain check with the skeleton brothers, all because of some hunch that Chara had. It was flattering that Frisk trusted her that much. Perhaps killing Flowey would make Frisk gain EXP... Chara suppressed a rising smirk. The last thing she needed was Frisk looking over and getting second thoughts about all this.

"I think Flowey's playing with determination," Chara shared her thoughts on the anomaly, "Forcing your soul to reveal itself when out of battle... Some other strong force is fighting a long distance fight with your determination. The only one it could possibly be is Flowey." At least, as far as Chara knew. Floating alongside Frisk as they walked, Chara kept looking behind them, expecting the weed to be following, scheming. "I would suggest we split up to look for him, but..."

Was Frisk even aware that Chara couldn't leave a radius of ten feet from the child? It was as if there was an invisible bubble trapping the ghost to the living human. It annoyed Chara to no end that she couldn't move around on her own. There were so many things she could have been doing instead of following Frisk, so many more easy uses of both their time if only they could just split up. But no, for whatever reason Chara was tied to the human, be it how much LOVE of determination Frisk had; Chara couldn't tell which was more responsible.

Flowey

Flowey's smile twitched ever so slightly as he stared at the human. Did... did she almost just step on him? A feeling of rage emerged within the flower, threatening to burst out and give away his true intentions. How did she not see me? I was LITERALLY out in the open oh my god is every human a complete idio-. He quickly put away his thoughts and took a deep breath to cool himself. Okay. Calm down. Stick to the plan.

The human had crouched down and looked at him in an odd way - as if she couldn't really believe that she was talking to a flower. "
Hey, there, Flowey! I seem to be a bit lost. Can you help me find my way back to the surface?"

Flowey replied happily, "
I sure can! I'd be happy to help you!" He looked around. They were all alone - not a single monster in sight. Nobody to get in his way this time. Killing the human would have been effortless. All he had to do was to get her to get her to turn around, to look away for just a brief moment and... poof. A human SOUL, just like that. The thought of killing her and taking her SOUL definitely crossed Flowey's mind many times - especially now since she had almost stepped on him. But, as Flowey put more thought into it, what good is one SOUL? If he played his cards right he'd get six SOULS and at that point nothing would stop him from killing this human and taking her soul then.

As it stood now his goal was to obtain the human's trust and friendship. And the only way he could do that right now was to help her. "
The way out of here and back to the surface is a long ways away. But don't worry!." Flowey winked and stuck out his tongue in a playful way. "I'll help you every step of the way!"

Flowey looked at her up and down and faked concern. "
Golly, from the clothes you're wearing you seem nice and warm. Still, you shouldn't be out in the forest longer than you have to. It's can get pretty dangerous. You never know what might want to harm you out here." At that last sentence, Flowey's cheerful voice broke slightly, replaced with a dark, raspy voice. An evil grin spread across his face for a split second before quickly vanishing and being replaced by his usual, friendly smile. He hoped she didn't notice.

"
Lucky for you, I know just where to go! There's a small village called Snowdin Village at the edge of the forest. You'll be safe there; just follow the path that way." Flowey tilted his head in the direction of the village.

"
But... I have a favour to ask," Flowey said as he looked stared the ground, downcast. "Listen, this forest is no place for a flower like me. It's way too cold and too dark. Do you think I could come with you?" To be honest, the cold didn't bother him in the slightest. It wasn't as if he was a real flower and he really didn't care if it was hot or cold. Still, making it to the village with the human was part of his plan and, looking at her, he seriously doubted if she could do it on her own.
