In the small town of BerryWood, many strange things had started to happen. In the past month at least ten people had gone missing without a single trace to find them. Everyone knew everyone in this town so when people started not showing up to work, it was very alarming. Friends, families, coworkers, there was no pattern to the missing people; thus making it so hard to find any information on the Kidnappers. That was the name the town had started calling these people, Kidnappers. The police of the BerryWood had been working day and night to find any evidence to link the missing people. Searching bars, homes, questioning everyone if they saw anything, but they still had nothing. It got to a point where they started to close down schools, parents kept their kids inside at all times, and the town went into lockdown. Everyone was scared for their life and their family's life, no one wanting to step foot outside the safety of their home. However, one night during the lockdown, one of the Kidnappers broke into the police station. They held everyone in there hostage for the whole night, no one but the people working there that night knew about it.

That was until the next day. The sheriff was killed and hung in the middle of town, displaced for everyone to see. Written in his own blood, on a huge banner above him, it read Don’t hide from us. You’ll be next. Due to the lockdown, it took a while before the news got around to everyone. The police who were left tried their best to hide it, not wanting to alarm the town more than they already would. They quickly got the body down the next day, but they were too late. One of the citizens had seen the Sheriff hanging through his window and the word spread. Feeling like a lost cause, the police started to recruit the citizens to help. Volunteers, to help with the search of the Kidnappers. They were desperate and were willing to get any help they could.

However, the closer the citizens got to the police, and in this case, the stranger the situation had become. Whoever these Kidnappers were, they weren’t normal, weren’t human. The police were hiding something about their file that the public wasn’t allowed to know. And the citizens slowly became aware of it, lost their trust in the police force. It wasn’t until one of the missing persons showed up dead, the same way as the Sheriff, with the same styled message above: One down, nine to go. We are watching.

That was when people really started to question the police and their motives in the whole case. The town was in complete chaos now, the people vs the police, people vs people. It’s like people forgot who the actual problem was; the Kidnappers. It was exactly what the Kidnappers wanted.

Now the town had to figure out what they were going to do, figure out the messages, find out who or, what, the Kidnappers were, if they could even trust the police anymore.

Murder? Kidnapping? Mysteries oh my! I'm definitely interested. Would love to play a recruited citizen.

I'm interested in being one of the kidnappers. Also Are each of the kidnappers a different type of supernatural creature? Any limit to the kidnappers supernatural abilities? and lastly in the character sheet I didn't understand what to write for this (With the People, With the Police, or With the Kidnappers: (Can go into depth about why they believe these things) ). Thank you.

Of course! And yes! Nothing too powerful or extremely supernatural, but each kidnapper can have their own secret power, you can choose to share it or reveal it in the RP!

And by that question, is your character with the police like working with them and agree with them, or is your character more with the people of the two who don’t trust the police and kind of rebelling against them police , or if you’re the kidnapper you don’t really follow either LOL! So you can leave it blank or just say you’re with the Kidnappers.
Hope that clears it up a bit!!

Name:
Artemus Rosiel
Age:
17
Appearance:
e40c3a6b29b516d361864cdf6807eaca.jpg

Artemus is often mistaken as younger than he really is due to his small figure and delicate features. It'd be a lie to say he doesn't milk these traits to gain favor in certain social situations. For this reason alone, he does take his own appearance into consideration when going on an outing. However, if he sees no benefit in dressing up, he won't think much about how he readies himself.
Personality:
There was something always off with Artemus. Beneath his charismatic gaze was an unfeeling individual who couldn't really feel the same way as those around him. While he has learned how to display the right emotions and read the situation, he doesn't really experience emotions like other people around him. If it wasn't for his father's heavy guidance on him it's a wonder what path Artemus would have found himself going with his anti-social tendencies.
Love, joy, fear, and sadness, all of these are foreign concepts to Artemus. The only real thing that seems to excite him is delving into the darkest corners of humanity, uncovering disturbing truths, and watching a person unravel when their ruse comes to an end. In other words, Artemus with his father's guidance has become interested in becoming a detective of sorts.

Role You're Playing:
Recruited Citizen

Background: (Their story after hearing about the murders and everything)
Artemus was one of the first people to hear about what was happening, often spending his free time at his father's side to read over past cases and current cases to bounce theories with his father. Of course, his father being a resident consultant for the police was pulled into the murders and disappearances. Although Artemus was fascinated with such abnormal occurrences, his father kept trying to withhold information for this more serious case. This only seemed to entice Artemus more since if his father was so against sharing the details of the series of murders and disappearances then it must be something big.

It was no surprise to Artemus when his father eventually disappeared while investigating the strange happenings in town. This, of course, allowed Artemus to have free roam in his father's office, and while he did acknowledge this to be a tragedy he had expected as much to happen. Artemus remained quiet, doing his own investigations until the police had started accepting help from the citizens. They hesitated at first with Artemus's age but eventually relented due to the influence of his father's name.

With the People, With the Police, or With the Kidnappers:
Despite working with the police as a recruited citizen, Artemus is intrigued by the kidnappers and is open to the idea of siding with them. To him, they have a clear advantage in this that he is interested in learning about even if it costs his life. Of course, at the end of the day, the only side he's on is his own and has no qualms with changing loyalties based on his own interests and benefit.

Anything Else:
- Only his father knows about Artemus's anti-socialism and was planning on getting him evaluated again once he was considered the legal age of diagnosis. For this reason, his father was very careful with Artemus's upbringing knowing full well that if he was raised poorly he'd be a danger to himself and those around him.
- Artemus's mother is unaware of his true nature, and after coming to an agreement with his father, they have kept her in the dark. His mother is more of a stay at home mom, doing piano lessons as a paid hobby.
-Artemus once had a dog ( Bailey)-- well it was more of the family pet that Artemus just put up with. He never really liked Bailey and would often "accidentally" lose his grip on the leash or leave the door slightly open so that Bailey would run-off. On one of her outings, Bailey got hit by a car. He only feigned a grievance when his mother wanted to get a new family dog and he insisted that getting a new dog would be an insult on Bailey.
-His father knew Artemus didn't have any attachments to Bailey and had the general idea that Artemus simply looked the other way on her last outing. He made sure to reinforce that this sort of behavior was incorrect and banned Artemus from having any pets.
-Tabitha, the black stray cat that often lingers in an alleyway he passes on his way from school is not something he would consider a pet . . . Though he does feed it and maybe has even gotten stuff for the cat. He doesn't really love Tabitha but does find a strange enjoyment in her company. If he were to ever have a pet, it would be a cat as he has noted them to be more favorable than dogs who are annoyingly needy.

Name: Leonard Smith (Eeyore)

Age: 32

Appearance: Leonard is a Caucasian male, 5' 10", approximately 172 lbs, lanky in spite of his dedication to his workout routine, with an incurable case of peach fuzz. His face is thin, his cheeks perpetually flushed; his eyes are hazel, and his hair is a dirty blonde. No amount of sunscreen seems to work, and he always looks like he just fell asleep in a hot tub; all except for his eyes, which always appear to have dark circles under them. Leonard's face is long, and he always appears to be upset. When not on duty, he prefers loose-fitting t-shirts and jeans, donning a thick work jacket and his favorite fur cap in the colder weather, all of which help to hide his muscular frame.

Personality: Leonard is soft-spoken, and is usually a good sport even about being the butt of a joke. He's easy to get along with, not one to make waves, and isn't exactly the brightest knife in the crayon box. He likes to kick back with a joint, even at the precinct, and his favorite part about life in Berrywood is how little actually happens around these parts. Leonard is slow to move, unwilling to start on something, but feverish to complete a task once he starts.

Role: Police Officer

Background: Leonard was on his way to the moon when he got the news from his senior officer about the Sheriff. He was also knocked on his ass after commenting about their sense of humor. The disappearances had him on edge before, but not until the Sheriff was found dead did it really hit home. Leonard has since made a bumbling but sincere effort to be more vigilant, and swearing that just a puff or two helps him sift through reports and check his corners.

Anything Else: Leonard had gone entire years without drawing his side arm. He only started practicing under duress when the kidnappings first began to be taken seriously around the precinct, and only with vigilance after the Sheriff was found.

Leonard moved to Berrywood in search of a place to wile away his days in peace, and as such his parents live elsewhere.

Leonard lives in a trailer all his own, where he grows his own weed, with his fat bulldog Bart. He refuses to get Bart neutered, claiming that you just don't do that to another guy, man, come on.

Name: Edward Reed(Ed)

Age:???

Appearance:Normal

True appearance:
l8g0wm4bou8Tq_vSUmoTiz8c7F8PPY60QiLYzXWBo6im1D5pwiA6sHuM1EPNI4WWD4quF1kbxSCZQce_F2ip9urdGkGobzNYBMTqPLNmpRGLPal1bueWS-c5ObS29QodNZvnFdw

Personality: Edward could be viewed as kind, friendly and helpful. He is viewed in a positive light by most of the town due to the various medical care he has delivered free of charge. He enjoys speaking to people, cooking and learning new things.

On the other hand he mercilessly slaughters his prey with the same friendly smile that he treats patients with. He prefers to swiftly kill rather than torture his victims. As a child he killed his surrogate parents without even flinching and with a smile on his face.

Role You're Playing:Kidnapper

Background(I changed this to more of a family history): He was born as a sickly child not to a human but to a Fae(a type of fairy). He was eventually switched with a human child who came to accept him as their own. As he grew older his desire to consume flesh increased so much so that he killed his surrogate family and consumed their flesh.

When the other villagers had found out about this they just assumed an animal had attacked the family and just adopted him. He continued killing his new parents until he decided to travel away.

With the People, With the Police, or With the Kidnappers: Ed is allied with the kidnappers since some of their goals align with his. He honestly doesn’t like their flashiness but he would have to bear it since the trek to another human settlement was impossible since the town had been in lockdown.

Anything Else:

-Edward is currently staying with a family of four who seemed to have heard of his good deeds and wanted to show gratitude.

-After he consumed human flesh for the first time most of Edwards' sickly traits disappeared and his magic grew stronger.

-Edward has access to two types of magic: Healing and Shapeshifting.

The healing magic he used to gain his fame as a miracle creator.

The ability to shapeshift is what disguises his appearance from normal humans and it is always active. He can only shapeshift between his true form and human form. He cannot shapeshift to look like another human or monster.

-Edward has superior strength when compared to humans but not by much. Two or more humans could easily overpower him. He also can only be killed by fire but can be knocked out or stunned by hits to the head.

-Edwards true form is revealed in the reflection of a mirror.

(Let me know if any nerfs are needed)

Sure! I'll consider it in the cop category, just make a character Sheet!
Oh, couple of questions first!

Is there anyway to recieve outside help and potentially get more state/federal law enforcement involved or are we all trapped in the town via supernatural means?

If so, will a potential endgame goal for the 'cop' side be contacting the outside world?

Hmm, I'd prefer us to be trapped in the town but more because people are scared to go out of their homes. And the town is on lockdown, so no one is allowed in or out once people go into the town, so I think your character could be working to get more FBI agents into the town. Like you said his end goal.

If that is okay!

Once more people started dying /rioting I'm guessing some sort of state/federal response will become more evident.

Of course the kidnappers could probably alleviate it by, say, cutting the power lines or blocking the roads since I'm guessing Berrywood is super isolated.

Yes! And the cops here have been boarding the ways into town, so they profile anyone and everyone; however, some cops are hiding information to the people and maybe want to keep everyone trapped in.

Username: VomitIcicle

Name: James Brandon

Age: 34

Appearance: A rather tall individual, standing at roughly 6'2, a former member of the Army, he still maintains the physique he gained during training. His eyes are a dull brown, and a faded scar on his neck from where a bullet grazed him.

Personality: Rough and uncompromising, James is a veteran of conflict. The constant murders have only furthered his resolve and paranoia. Holds a soft spot for dogs.

Backstory: James was deployed alongside a team of contractor from a security company to reinforce the stretched thin police force of Berrywood when the murders started, though their mission seems relatively benign, they have a more important, secondary focus. The retrieval of any biological material and/or artifacts from the so called 'Kidnappers' on behalf of their employees. To what end, James isn't sure. Neither does he care. As long as he gets payed in the end, who cares?

Role: Police

Equipment:

M4 Bushmaster with four magazines

M1911 handgun with two magazines

Pepper spray, in the case of non-lethal takedowns

Retractable baton

Four sets of zipties in case temporary restraint is required

Two pairs of handcuffs

Body armor with tactical webbing

Bodycam, connected to a company network instead of the local Berrywood police department

Abilities:

-Rifleman: James is a good shot with a rifle, though rather unfamiliar with other weapons.

-Strength: He is physically fit, able to keep up with an 'average' person for a bit even with all of his gear.

-Intimidating: He is rather scary looking, with all that armor and guns he's toting around.

Figured I'd go with something different last second :v

Anything Else:

-James is skeptical of anything actually supernatural happening in the town, believing there to be a reasonable explanation for the missing persons

hey!! so, I'm interested in playing a missing person. I'm just wondering what it would entail, like are they being held captive somewhere?

Yes they are being held captive! It’s just a dark stone room, all of them together in there and they don’t know where they are or any of their surroundings! I probably should of made that more clear in the beginning post I’m sorry! XD

Let Me Play You A Threnody~

Name: Daniel Clemente

Nicknames: Dan, Danny

Age: 21

Appearance:
leo valdez fc.jpg

At 5'10 and 140lbs, Danny has a rather lithe figure. He doesn't appear very strong and he's not, but he doesn't appear sickly. He's just generally weak and doesn't exercise much. He has dark brown eyes and hair, which is usually fairly unkempt.

Personality:
Danny is known by most as a rather hapless, well-meaning guy that, despite having the best intentions, always ends up screwing something up. He's not exactly stupid (actually, quite the opposite), however his general misfortune and clumsy nature typically gets the best of him. Overall, he's known to be a pretty harmless, nice guy. Despite this, he also has a few hidden traits he rarely makes known. He is extremely cunning and crafty and tends to weasel himself out of most situations by feigning being obliviousness and innocence. More often than not, he still has everyone's best interests in mind and, despite his lack of loyalty and willingness to trust anyone, tries to do the right thing. Of course, saving himself is always a nice bonus, as he doesn't trust anyone else to look out for him. He's an avid risk-taker, even if most of the time it ends up with him getting in some sort of trouble.

Role You're Playing:
missing person

Background:
Danny was one of the last people to be kidnapped. Almost embarrassingly, it was the only night he had been out alone. Of course, thanks to his awful luck, he was in the wrong place at the wrong time and was taken, with little chance to struggle. If only he had walked home with his co-worker like he usually did.

With the People, With the Police, or With the Kidnappers:
with the police, since he was taken before the police lost some of their credibility

Anything Else:
All of his family lives out of town, as he moved out as soon as he could, as far as he could get. However, he has made a decent amount of good friends in his couple of years living in Berrywood.

Name: Cedric Crewe

Age: 26

Appearance: ( Picture above) He got his eyes from his beautiful mother, a sea-blue iris, and as well as his ginger locks. He had a sharp jawline, keeping up on his physique at all times. He had very fair skin, freckles scattered around his body. Working inside most of the time he didn't get much sun, his ginger genes cursing him anytime he did. He was easily sunburnt, anytime he worked in the boiling sun his skin would turn a lobster-red within an hour. He stood a little below six feet, not too big in size but he was very toned.

Personality: The friendly ginger of his small town, everyone knew Cedric. He had such a welcoming aurora around anyone he met, immediately making them feel comfortable. He strived to share positivity in such a poor place, doing anything he could just to see people smile. He couldn't stand seeing all the pain and hurt that surrounded him, so he tried his best to fill every tear with laughter; the class clown to some. To him though, he just enjoyed seeing people smile. He hid his pain and problems from everyone, even his mother because he didn't feel the importance of sharing it with people. It would only make them upset and he didn't want to see that, ever.

Background: Cedric was really close to his mom, somewhat of a mommy's boy. If anything, she was the one who kept him going strong. She was the one who always pushed Cedric to be better and happy, the amount of love he had for her was astonishing. She was such a strong woman and Cedric always looked up to her, wanting to give her a better life than what she had now; she deserved so much more. They owned a small cafe in town, always buzzing with people from the town. Cedric saw his mother work day in and day out to run that place, knowing one day, he'd get her out of here. He'd give her the life she deserved no matter the cost. However, after the lockdown, Cedric wasn't getting his mom anywhere anytime soon.

Role You're Playing:
Citizen

With the People, With the Police, or With the Kidnappers:
With the people, mostly his mom. He cared more for the people of his town more than anything.

Anything Else:

  1. Hobbies: He liked to crack jokes all the time and making people smile. It was his favorite thing to do.
  2. Dislikes: He hated anyone with a sour attitude, there was no reason for rudeness in his book. He also never liked being alone, he was a social person.

Name: Julia McKennel

Age: 20

Appearance: rp.jpg

Personality:
Julia has always been a rambunctious and loud character. Everyone knows her as a someone who's bold and isn't afraid to speak her mind, no matter what kind of trouble it got herself into. Despite this, she can actually be pretty easy to get along with once people realize how easy it is to talk to her about anything. She's never turned anyone away from her group of friends and strives to make sure everyone feels included. Julia's actually a very sensitive person, who tends to lash out when she's hurt but she's been trying to work on healthier way to express her emotions. Once the kidnappings started to happen, she became afraid, almost paranoid that something was going to happen to her or someone she knew. This has lead to her becoming more withdrawn than usual, which worried those around her.

Role You're Playing:
Missing person

Background:
Julia was a college student before everything had happened. She lived at home with her parents while she was studying, but then the college shut down and everyone attending was forced to go home due to the recent kidnappings. She started to notice strange things happening, like feeling like she was always being watched or thinking she saw someone constantly following her. She thought she was just being paranoid, but decided to try to stay home more often. Even while staying home, she couldn't shake the feeling of being watched; she had no way to prove it. One morning she had decided to take a walk on a trail behind her house, hoping it would calm down her feeling of unease. She was only walking for a couple of minutes when she felt something whack her head and her vision turned black. She woke up to a dark room filled by other individuals.

With the People, With the Police, or With the Kidnappers:
Julia is with the people. Before she was kidnapped, she felt like the police weren't doing enough to keep everyone around them safe.

Anything Else:
All of her friends and family live in the town.

Name: October Bates

Age: 18

Appearance: (Picture above)

Personality: October was a very shy girl, but strong-willed, and always stayed to herself. She never liked to put herself in uncomfortable situations, but she always tried to be the strong one in the situation. She didn't like to hurt or disappoint people, no matter how bad her anxiety got.

Role You're Playing: The Missing

Background: She didn't remember much before getting taken. The only thing she could remember was being in a dark, cold, stone room. There were at least nine more with her in there; however, two had disappeared in the middle of the night. It really started to freak the people out, they never saw the people come back.

With the People, With the Police, or With the Kidnappers: Itsn't aware of what is going on, Missing Person.

Anything Else: She doesn't remember much about herself.

Name: Roxanne "Roxie" Blair

Age: 29

Appearance:
KM7H5wy.jpg

Roxie is 5'4 and, although she may not look it, is a bit stronger than the average person. She has medium-length blonde hair that she usually keeps in a ponytail and a pair of blue eyes. To most, she tends to look like a surfer girl going on a job interview.

Personality: Roxie is headstrong and has a strong sense of righteousness. Nosy and persistent in even the worst of times, she often gets on people's nerves with her unapologetic and constant probing for details that are usually none of her business. Her whole life, she's been a fighter and extremely competitive, unwilling to admit defeat even if she knows she's lost. She hates showing any form of weakness or hesitation. She can typically be found with a lively, energetic disposition whether it's early in the morning or late at night. Part of it his her natural vitality and the other half is her caffeine addiction.

Role You're Playing: recruited citizen

Background: Roxanne has been set on becoming a big-time reporter for most of her life. Fresh out of college, she got a job writing for the local newspaper. She's been with them a few years now and is ready to move on from reporting on the uneventful occurrences in Berrywood. Once the Kidnappers made their appearance and more strange things began to happen in the town, Roxie knew this was her chance to make big news. Unfortunately, with the town on lockdown, she's been having trouble continuing her investigation and spreading the story to outside of Berrywood. As soon as she got the chance, she joined the police in searching for the missing people and the Kidnappers. Initially, due to her reputation for her intrusive questioning as a member of the press, she was turned away from volunteering. As the situation got more dire, however, she was given the chance to help out.

With the People, With the Police, or With the Kidnappers: Roxie is completely with the people. Due to her role as a nosy reporter, she frequently suspects people and does not trust law enforcement. The greatest threat to her livelihood is those who withhold information from the public. Then again, she'd be out of a job if the public always knew the whole truth. Part of her is just in it to further her own career, although she would never admit it.

Anything Else: She has a terrible reputation among the police and doesn't really get along with most of them. She is skeptical about anything supernatural going on and is very vocal about her doubts on the credibility of the authorities' statements.
