Opinion Thoughts on Bronies

This thread is going to get a lot of hate, I can feel it. But I need to share my opinions somewhere, and what better place to do it than the internet, where you (Kind of) stay anonymous?

Sooooo..... Bronies. just the name is enough to get somebody revved up and ready to hate. I'm one of those people. here are my 3 problems with bronies:

Problem #1- Ponifying - Have you ever looked up fan-art of your favorite piece of media on google, and found OVERWHELMING amounts of ponyfied art? yeah, I have. It's incredibly annoying to me as an artist, because they're leeching off of other's ideas and making it 'their own', if you can even call it that. Just the other day I looked up "Pokémon Fan Art" and almost the whole thing was Ponies. FRIKKIN' PONIES. It's actually hard to find fan-art of your favorite thing now, because of this genre of 'art' is too lazy. the only time you can find purely art of that fandom is when the fandom is very large, like Undertale or Overwatch.

Problem #2- Certain Memes - This is an unpopular opinion, but I like memes. i searched "Animal Memes" a few years ago, and found a shit ton of these memes: "Oh Look a Pony! Now your day is RUINED! I'm just sitting there thinking to myself, "Yeah it is, but it wouldn't be if you rubbed it in my face." I'm not normally pissed off by bronies- they can do what they want - but these types of memes are just ridiculous. also, another meme i found: "STOP HATING ON BRONIES" and my response was: "If you want me to stop, then stop forcing me to watch the show." Which segways perfectly into my next, and final, problem.

Problem #3- Forcing the Show on People - If we don't like it, we don't like it. just because i don't like something you like, does not give you the right to stop being my friend. i have lost TONS of friends over not liking the show, and the whole "Just because i don't like something you like" thing goes for every fandom that gets hate- but bronies are terrible at following that rule. I was hanging out with my friend, and he asked me: "Who's you're favorite pony?" i said: "I don't watch that show." He forced me to watch it, unfortunately there was a marathon on at the time. i told him i didn't like it, and he got MAD. i interrupted him in the middle of his rant and stated, "Just because i don't like it doesn't mean i hate it." It didn't work, he left and drove off.

So bronies, before you say "Not all bronies" or "Welcome to the Internet", i will say two things: "Yes all bronies" and "The internet is not your playground. other people use it."

Pls don't hurt meh!

I can see why you'd be annoyed. I thought this was going to be about something else, so I came over prepared to say, "Fandom is like a religion in that its followers are fanatics. So long as they keep their fanaticism to themselves, bothering no one, it's fine." But since this fandom IS shoving shit in people's face, fuck that! And I'll further add, if you're forcing someone to do something they're not interested, THE PONIES WOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOU. YEAH

I'm fine with them aslong as they don't force me to watch the show. You come up with great points as to why people don't like Bronies though (excluding trolls).

The only Bronies I have a problem with are those with the fetish for it.

Sexualizing young pony characters is just wrong to me and so many of that community are into that.

Plus I have an issue with the hurr durr i'm so cool i like ponies guys, too.

I'm indifferent.

But I don't really spend too much time on the internet outside of research and this site. So I don't really see a reason to hate a group I don't know anything about/don't care about.

Everyone has fetishes. I don't care about other people's as long as it doesn't effect me.

if it's not harming anyone else and makes them happy, then i see nothing wrong with it.

Seeing two animated horses shoving their shlongs into one another scarred me for life at least. And I used to watch the show when I was around twelve or thirteen.

You'd never see that unless you looked up something MLP related.

'Cause I love looking up horse porn or even better, drawn horse sex in my free time to then stroke my little pee-pee to it. The simple fact it exists scares me by how perverted people can really get.

You don't need to look up porn to find it. Sometimes, depending on how bad a certain fandom is, simply by typing in google anything related to that fandom will end up in most search results being about something inappropriate.

Yes, it does make them happy, but not in the way you think...

Y'know, getting too excited down below...

And it is hurting some people. namely 5 or 8 year old girls. There are tons of little girls who look up "MLP fan-art" and find these... things. not the bronies, i'm talking a certain type of image...

The simple fact it exists scares me by how perverted people can really get.

Yeah, there's some really weird stuff out there...

I'll be honest, I'm a brony, though I was never really forced to watch the show and outside of one person I've met I've never met a brony who would do that unless you hadn't seen the show and your only reason for hating it was because it was cool to do so or because it's a little girls show and it's just a copy of generation 3......(oh gods the nightmares x.x don't ever look for g3) if you don't like it for any reason outside of that one your welcome to dislike it....I'm sorry to say but your friends got hit with the idiot stick :/

but then again I haven't really been active in the community recently outside of watching youtubers like drwolf and silverquill and the overall show itself.

if you have any questions I'll be more then willing to answer them, we really aren't all that bad and there are legitimate reasons why most of us enjoy it.

something possibly offensive to some below, fair warning

In the defense of cloppers...98% of everything of an adult nature is with adults, they might be teens in the equestrian girls movie, but in equestria they would be considered legal age, I wont say if I am a clopper or not, just get tired of the whole "that person "enjoys" ponies so he must be a pedophile" argument when it simply isint true.

in conclusion: all fandoms can be toxic in some form or another and I haven't met one yet that didn't have a few assholes.

Is this a time capsule thread from 2012? I nearly forgot that bronies existed.

I am a brony, and I agree with most things on this list. Especially the first one, I like ponies, but for fuck sakes, I do wish to have the occasional break from ponies.

Yes, thank you. I know there are a FEW good bronies- and you're one of them for staying calm.

They're still around... especially the ponifying, with all the good pieces of media that have come out recently. it's at large. :/

Though my dislike of ponifying shit, is kind of ironic cause my avatar is a pony Cthulhu. Though I did take me some time to find a pony Cthulhu that actually looked remotely cool and wasn't a fucking meme. I had waddle through sea of my little Cthulhu crap to find this awesome pic for my avatar

I'll be honest, I enjoy MLP quite a bit myself, and I completely get what you're saying. Those things all annoy me too. Ponifying things is kind of dumb, I've seen a lot of bad pony memes, and I hate how some bronies think anyone who doesn't like it is automatically prejudiced somehow - There IS such a thing as simply not enjoying a show. I COMPLETELY get why someone wouldn't like it. It can be difficult to get past the more childish aspects of it. But it works for me, and I find it entertaining. It sounds like the guy who made you watch it was simply one of th idiots. I'm glad you can at least admit there are ones that aren't like that. Bronies really get a bad rap, so I really try to be a better representative of the group by not being an obsessive idiot and shoving it in people's faces.

Yeah, this is pretty much the whole reason why anybody would hate anything.

Star wars is pretty huge, but you don't get "Star Wars-ified Mastur Chief!" No, that's stupid. So getting a Ponyfied suit of power armor is equally as retarded.

I react to most anything force-fed to me incredibly violently, and this is one of them. No wonder the amount of those little "Squishies" or whatever exists.

Fluffies! Fluffy ponies! Don't google them.

Alright, story time. So, let's go back to 2012. Unless you were completely disconnected until recently, I'm sure you all remember how Brony hate was at a peak at this time. Anywho, I was a 6th grade student at a tiny little school called St Marys, worst school in the province in my opinion. But that's beside the point. Thing is, there was a guy in my class, well call him J, and he was a Brony. Or at least that was what the class was saying. Anyways, we hated J so much for that, insulted him about it all the time. Eventually, one day he escalates it somehow, I don't exactly remember how, and me and him end up fighting. And we just GO AT EACHOTHER. Throwing punches, kicking wildly, bloody Noses, just the real deal. Eventually, someone pulls me off him, I get punished. But eventually, I learned to accept him for who he was, and we became friends. Even now, I still share a Gym class with him, where I'm currently typing this. I guess what I'm trying to say is, it's fine to like something that could be seen as weird, so long as in isn't completely fucked up, and you're not a big dick about it.
