Sugarshe listened to what was going on and rose walking over picking up the sword from the ground. "It's not weight of the weapon.....what James is missing is proper balance." She says looking at them with a little smirk. She looks at thale gesturing at him to approach. "I wager that even I can break that sword in half using this one...." She says and swings cutting the air. Sugarshe gives a straight stance. Compared to james She looked like she shouldn't have been able to hold it up. "Would you mind helping me demonstrate,just try to hit me." She told thale. She seemed very confident in her point.

Thale looked a bit hesitant to attack a woman, especially one that might be his future Queen.


"Um... If you're sure about this. But just to let you know, umm... these are real swords we've been practicing with so... I apologize if I hurt you."


With that, Thale raised his shield and advanced, swinging his sword around to smack Sugarshe's hands with the flat of his blade, attempting to knock the weapon from her hands.

Sugarshe swung hard hitting the other blade after taking a deep breath. with a sharp clang as she hit the blade with enough force which snapped in half cleanly as it flew out of his hands falling in to the dirt. Sugarshe gave a small huff. "The sword is just fine,perfect for him actually....He needs to retain a proper balance. He's Focusing to much on physical strength....if he balanced out the elements properly he wouldn't have a problem." She explained. Sugarshe exhaled brushing her purple hair back looking at them with her red eyes holding the sword to James. "It's always key to learn elemental balance before you try getting into a fight." She says softly.

While Thale was busy staring at the two halves of his broken sword, James, not quite sure what to say, took the sword and practiced his stance with it. For a few minutes, he didn't really get it. Then a thought occurred to him.


Hmm... Something besides physical strength...





James reached out with his Will. The air around his sword began to warp a bit, and suddenly the sword felt much lighter. By holding it with both his hands, and his Will, James found the sword much more maneuverable. He swung it through the air a few times getting used to the way it actually felt balanced. Then he looked at Sugarshe with a smile.


"Sugar. You are absolutely amazing."


He leaned his sword over his shoulder, wrapped his free hand around her, and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek. Meanwhile, Brand had given Thale a new sword. Brand turned to the two.


"Alright lover-boy. If you're so sure this will work, you and Thale have another round."


Thale and James approached each other carefully once more. This time, James was able to keep up with Thale, eventually managing to get around his shield and smack him on the head with the flat of his sword. From the sidelines, Brand clapped.


"Alright. I'll admit, I'm impressed. But don't think this means you won't still be taking lessons. You've still got a long way to go."


Brand looked at his son, who was rubbing the back of his head.


"Both of you."


James sheathed his sword and walked over to Sugarshe, scratching the back of his head.


"Well, that was over quicker than I expected. Thanks for the help."

Sugarshe smiled a little when he gave her a kiss happy that he understood what she meant. She watched as they sparred again and it went much better than before. She clapped a little from where she stood next to brand. She nodded crossing her arms below her chest with a smirk. She gave a amused giggle. James was cute."It's just basic information, back home it's actually very common to start learning. " she explained with her hand under her chin. Back home a lot of things were different compared to here. She somewhat likes this place so far though it was a bit more peaceful than home and she even had James' company to look forward to. She had a feeling he's grow on her. She didn't usually enjoy being this close to anyone.

James blushed as he scratched the back of his head. Off to the side, Thale and Brand were talking about something, sword techniques most likely.


"Well," James began, "I'll admit that the real Sword of the Rivan King is enchanted to do... pretty much what I just did. And to shoot blue flames. Magic isn't really that widely taught in this world. There are less than a dozen sorcerers in recorded history. The good news is, after lunch one of them is going to be teaching me how to use magic. Although... Since the last lesson went pretty quickly we could probably go bug Belgarion right now."


James held out his arm for Sugarshe.


"Shall we milady?"

Sugarshe gives a little nod and comes to stand by him walking with her arms around his arm. "Hmm...all sorts of magic back home is very common but my specific type of powers are quite rare...." She says with a small hum. She tilts her head to look at James thinking for a moment. "James... um I have a question......would it be a problem if this wasn't my usual form? Would you still like me?" She asked suddenly.

James turned his head to Sugarshe and looked her in the eye.


"You mean that wolf-girl form you were in when you first came through? Well, that depends. I honestly don't think I'll ever come to like it if I don't get a chance to get used to it."


James gave Sugarshe a small smirk, then another quick kiss.


"Sugar. You know I like you for who you are, not what you look like. Right?"

"Yes that form....i also I have a feeling I probably shouldn't use that form here." She says looking up at James with her red eyes and a slight blush. She leaned over giving him a kiss on the lips before turning and starting to walk again in the assumed direction they were going in. "James, do you feel drawn to me? Like not out of hormones but you feel like you need me a little?......"She says.

James thought about it for a minute. At first he wasn't sure what she meant, but as he thought he realized something.


"Now that you mention it... Yeah, kinda. I don't know. I just feel like... before I met you there was something missing, and I didn't even know it wasn't there. And now I almost have a hard time thinking about not being around you."


James blushed as he spoke, then looked Sugarshe in the eye.


"Is that odd? Or is it something I should be concerned about?"

" honestly I've been having the same sort of feeling but I can't pinpoint why exactly....I also have this vague feeling like I met you before perhaps in another life? I dunno..." She explained blushing as well. She looked at his directly into the eyes. She seemed quite puzzled by the matter. Sugarshe sighed and brushed a Hand through her purple hair. "Well this is complicated....I'm glad it isn't just me. Also even if that bit were true, I honestly really really like you either way..."She says softly.

James was a bit confused by what Sugarshe was saying, but he understood the gist, and wrapped his arm around her shoulders.


"I like you too Sugar. I like you too. Hey, let's go meet my Grandfather Belgarion."


With that, James led Sugarshe down the hallways, holding her close the entire time. Eventually, they exited the castle and walked into town, where they attracted frequent stares from the populace.


"Alright, let's split up and start searching. Belgarion's probably holed up in one of the local taverns. He should be easy to spot. He'll be the one who looks like an old soldier wearing a bracelet made of a tree branch wrapped in a circle. And he'll be drinking way more ale than anyone else in the tavern."

Sugarshe exhaled. She didn't know this place very well and it'd be a bad idea if she got into a mess. Oh well. Sugarshe then nodded in compliance with James' plan. "Okay but just say lucillia three times to summon me, I'll be transferred to you instantly..." She says as she separates herself from him. She walks off to help search for this belgarion fellow who was her lover's grandfather.

It didn't take long to find Belgarion. The first tavern Sugarshe entered, she saw a man who looked like an older version of the King, with the described bracelet around his right hand as he drained mug after mug of ale. He was drinking so fast, the bartender could barely keep up with him. The old man had his arm around a woman wearing revealing clothing. It wasn't difficult to guess what her profession might've been.

"Another ale!" The old man shouted to the barkeep. "And none of that watered down shit either!"


The Barkeep had barely finished filling the mug when it flew towards Belgarion, who attempted to grab it from the air only to end up spilling it all over himself and the courtesan. The old man wiped the spilled ale off his face and sighed, leaning his head against the palm of his hand in a posture that James often sat in.


"Belar be damned."

Somehow it didn't take long for sugarshe to find who James had described. She turned around not only a second after entering the tavern walking out the door quickly over to where she had Saw James catching up to him. " I think I found him," she said for turning back around quickly tugging James gently by the hand in the direction of the tavern she had went in. When they went inside she gestured over to the older man to show James that she had found him. She waited for James before approaching him.

James looked athrough Belgarion for a few moments with an exasperated expression on his face.


"Can you believe that this is the man who killed a god? Ugh, he always gets like this when he visits Riva. I'mean sorry you had to see him like this, he'said usually a really nice guy. It's just that being here reminds him of his wife. She wasn't a sorcerer, and she died. Whenever he'said here he gets sad, and when he's sad he drinks."


Belgarion turned his head as James spoke.


"Is that my grandson I hear? Come hear my boy!"


Belgarion turned his gaze to Sugarshe.


"And who is this young lady?"

Sugarshe gave James a little wave in dismissal and laughed a little. " don't be sorry. We're in a bar it's to be expected and I'm used to it since my uncle gets drunk off his ass half the time and my family is mostly men...and I understand the behavior it's hard to lose someone and that's a common way people cope with it." She tells James a little bit amused but she was also understanding. She sighed softly following James over to his grandfather. She looked up when his grandfather spoke and looked at James for a second. She looks back up again. " It's Sugarshe...."She says softly in response then looked at James again.

Belgarion looked at Sugarshe carefully for a moment, his face straightening out.


"I don't know why... but you sort of remind me of Grandmother Poledra."


After a few more moments of staring, Belgarion shook his head and stood, waving away the woman clinging to his arm.


"So, I take it you two have come because it's time for James's lesson. Although I suppose it should be Beljames... Hmm... Well, I suppose I didn't really stop going by Garion until I'd hit my first century. Oh well..."


Belgarion motioned for them to follow him as he walked out of the back, heading back for the castle. As he walked, he talked.


"So, Sugarshe. I understand you are our visitor from the other side of the barrier. Not only that, but the rumor is that you and James have been getting somewhat... friendly... in his room in the late hours. So... what is your opinion of my several dozen times great grandson?"


James blushed when Belgarion asked the question. He'd always been one for the direct approach to things, and James hated it when that embarrassed him.

"Poledra?" She questions softly pushing back her purple hair.She gave a light hum listening to him speak and nodded when he mentioned the lessons as she followed by James' side. She heard him speak about the room and her cheeks tinted a bit in red."In honesty I'm very fond of James and I definitely like him a lot,I'm even very attracted to him plenty but, I want james to decide if he wants to be with me....I'd hate to see him unhappy. " she says honestly with a exhale and looked up. She tilts her head to look at james with a blush."Also...he's the one who instigated it so I was a bit surprised...." She admitted with a playful smirk and gave james a little kiss on the cheek before continuing to walk.

James smirked and held Sugarshe's hand as the walked. Belgarion watched to two for a moment, a small smile on his face.


"You know, for some reason watching you two, I get this feeling that you're just... made for each other somehow. Like the two of your are meant to be. Almost reminds me of..." Belgarion frowned and shook his head. "Nevermind."


Belgarion led the pair past the castle to a small forest beside it, stopping in a small clearing.


"James, you already know this, but Sugarshe, this is the grove where we've been practicing James's magic. We'd do this inside the castle, but sorcery tends to frighten most people, and James has a nasty habit of setting things on fire by accident."


James blushed.


"I can't help it... I just thought it would be funny to set that tapestry on fire one time, and now I can't thinking that I hope I don't set things on fire."


Belgarion shook his head.


"We've been over this James. Allowing the thought of setting things on fire to enter your mind is why you keep setting things on fire."


Belgarion turned to Sugarshe.


"You're from the other side of this barrier. If there is any magic you feel like practicing, go ahead. Just try not to damage the trees. I can usually stop James from doing that with my own Will, but I don't know anything about any magic you might know, so I might not be able to stop you in time. So please be careful of the trees. This grove was planted by..."


Belgarion was quiet for a moment, a sad look on his face.


"Just don't damage the trees."

Sugarshe walked by Jane's side holding his hand back with a soft hum. She seemed quite happy with the simple gesture of his affection. When they stopped she stretched a little bit. She couldn't help a small snort and giggling at the two speaking. Setting things on fire. Was James a pyromaniac? The simple thought had amused her. She smiles when he mentioned magic. "It's called manipulation and manifestation, it's sort of elemental.....manipulation over the elements and manifestation to create out of elements.."She explained and nextly exhaled letting her human form slip back into her wolf like one. She touched the ground drawing a shape in the dirt then blew on the ground before standing to step back as a large ice crystal shot up. "Okay there's something for you to melt....."

Belgarion raised an eyebrow when he saw Sugarshe's magic.


"Very impressive. And you didn't make a sound, at least not a magical sound, though I suppose that just means you're using a different type of magic than us. That's something James needs to work on."


James frowned at Belgarion's comment, and stared at the pillar of ice. The he spoke.


"Shape."


The ice crystal than began to reform, it's shape bending and twisting. At first it began to take the shape of the King holding the Sword of Riva, but about halfway through the transformation James lost focus. The ice shifted into a sculpture of him and Sugarshe, her sitting in his lap in her nightshirt, as James, shirtless, kissed her, one arm around her neck, the other by her waist, hand firmly groping her rear.


Belgarion stared at the sculpture for a moment before he burst out laughing.


"It looks like you've got something else on your mind at the moment!"


James blushed and looked at the ground with an irritated expression, kicking at a rock in the dirt.

"Here try something else." She says and crouched down once more drawing a star in the dirt then flicks at it stepping back once more. A flower sprouts from the ground she pulls off a petal blowing it at the sculpture as it catches fire and the ice melted into a puddle. She plucks another petal dropping it on the puddle and it freezes up again. "Hmm you could say that but to manifest I require something physical to create my desired object. Though some things require certain elements to make things....."She explained softly. She looked at james with a little smirk. "Also, James if you want to be dirty you can at least wait until later can't you? I mean I don't mind the idea but geez...."She says with a amused laugh. He ears flatten against her head a little bit as her tail just lays behind her as she sits down on the ground her hands on her knees waiting for james to make the next move. She is looking up at him with her wolfish smirk waiting patiently.

James looked at the ice sculpture, then switched his attention to the small flower still growing out of the ground. He bent down and plucked it out of the soil. It burst into flames in James's hands. Belgarion gave him a sarcastic look.


"Oh, very impressive. A truly skillful performance."


James ignored him as he cupped the ashes in his hands, blowing them at the ice pillar. Around the pillar, little blue flowers made of ice began to bloom from it's surface until the whole thing was covered in ice flowers. James pulled one off the pillar, and gave it to Sugarshe with a smile and a somewhat overly dramatic bow.


Belgarion rolled his eyes.


"Alright lover-boy. Now let's practice shapeshifting. You still need practice with that. We'll start with something simple, a hawk. Now remember. Focus on the shape of the animal, then let your body fit into that shape."


Belgarion then shrank down, his fingers fusing into wings as feathers sprouted from his skin as his clothes melted away. When he'd finished, he soared into the air as a full-grown hawk. He did a few loops in the air before landing on the ground.


James watched what Belgarion did carefully, then focused on the shape of a hawk. All he accomplished was making a pair of large wings grow from his back. However, with a bit of effort, James was able to use the wings to fly a few feet into the air before landing back on the ground.


Belgarath returned to human form.


"Well, I guess that's better than last time. Alright, now try turning into a wolf."


James nodded, then focused again. This time he got a bit farther along in the transformation... but not by much.

Not only that, but the wings he'd formed in the Hawk transformation hadn't gone away, though they'd changed to a bright gold color. The whole effect was actually somewhat regal. It was also somewhat reminiscent of the form Sugarshe had been in when she'd first arrived.

Her ears twitch a little bit as she looks up watching them carefully as they continued the lesson. She gave a tired stretch as her wings bore visible once more extending out as she gives a little huff in pleasure at stretching. She nextly rests her head on her arms continuing to watch. Her ears pricked up at the word 'wolf' and she looked interested in what happened next. Seeing the change her eyes widened and her face became bright red. He was so perfect. He could even take the perfect form. She felt like her heart was going so fast could suffer from a heart attack. As she wasn't thinking straight at the moment it wasn't long before she tackled james pinning him down out of excitement and reached for his belt buckle kissing him. But coming back to her senses she gets up and quickly moves away."I'll j-j-just b-be over here......yeah....ummmm..sorry..." She whispers shaking a little bit ducking behind a tree and keeping a distance. She couldn't believe he had that affect on her. It was probably his scent as a wolf that set her off. Her face was bright red and her ears flattened to show she was ashamed of her animal instincts.
